Prof Rizzie is doing her first semester of teaching coming out of grad school. She really cares about the students, & makes sure every class that she is not going too fast or too slow for students. She is very helpful in her office hours, & really enjoys teaching. Halfway through semester, I got an 83 on the first exam (avg71). Expecting a B+/A-ish

Prof Rizzie very clearly knows what she's teaching, and she's one of those rare professors who communicates what they know in a way that makes learning in her class easy. Not to say the class is easy, but you'll feel like you're learning the subject, and as long as you do the "optional" homework, quizzes and exams are manageable.

I had Prof. Rizzie for Linear Algebra at UConn. It was the worst mistake of my life. After day 1 I knew she wasn't a good professor. Prof. Rizzie seems to know her information, but does not convey it well. She doesn't explain answers when asked, or does an awful job. The homework assignments are ridiculous. Hours and hours spent on a single assignment to have her nitpick the most trivial things and take points off, it's absurd. Also expect group projects the whole semester.

Each homework is only out of 20, and the points are very disproportionate. Doing over 20 problems, only to get a low score just because three problems are randomly chosen to be graded for 12 points. The homework counts as 30% of the class grades. And the syllabus is unclear about grading policy; what is A- and A?

Absolutely horrible lecturer. Retook because advisors recommended it, biggest waste of time. If you remember calc 1 from high school and did well, I would NOT recommend retaking the class. I wouldn't take calculus with her- her lectures are so hard to follow especially since they're online. However, she's pretty good in office hours. Most kids taking this class had already taken it during high school. Exams and quizzes aren't bad: do your hw, it really helps. Also, props to her for extending the homeworks at the end of the semester.

I see maybe 15/160 people show up to lecture each day. Its mostly just group work on Desmos and her teaching of concepts in minimal. 95% of what you lean is from the videos she posts from a professor on YouTube each week which take a couple hrs to get thru. The rest is dependent on your TA. Weekly quizzes and 5-6 exams. avoid her if you can!
