Super nice lady! She wants lots of interaction from students during class as far as discussion goes, it's a huge part of the class and your grade. Easy weekly homework, no final, one big assignment. All opinions were and viewpoints were treated with respect by Erin. I wish I could take the class again from her. I really enjoyed it.
this class is a pretty easy class, if you don't want to do much take it, you've got like 3 big assignments, GROUP PROJECT at the end of the quarter, its peer grading based so its not exactly fair. reading the material isn't necessary, you go over it in class everyday. all in all a pretty boring long drawn out class but super easy.
This class was fun and interesting. Group project was fun, tho if you do your presentation in the beginning, it can be stressful! Erin is passionate about the subject, and a fun teacher! I recommend that all women take this class! Great discussions!
erin is such a nice person! she is very fun, helpful, and open-minded. i would recommend taking this class because it is pretty easy. she let us take every test online, including the final! however, attendance is a big part of the grade. 12.5 points a day just for showing up and doing the in class activity!
Good teacher for health, an easy A.
Was a fun class. I learned a lot. Is an easy if go to class and listen to direction.
She is a very helpful and a straightforward teacher. She sticks according to syllabus and makes the class so easy. Best A i have ever earned. I will definitely take another class of hers. She's Great!
She is great. Standard health teacher. Easy class if you turn in the assignments (which are really easy) and show up.
Erin is a wonderful, caring Prof. that works hard to make classes enjoyable & informative. You will learn a lot of interesting info. in this class.Love her energy and enthusiasm.
Had to take a health class, soooo glad I took Women's Health with Staples! Since this class is about your overall well-being, she keeps it as simple and stress-free as possible. All women should take this class with Staples. Super friendly and seems to sincerely care. An overall excellent experience!
I took Erin for Women's Health as a filler class with A&P. I really enjoyed her class. I learned a lot and am even continuing with my life change project. Writing assignments were really easy. They are based on your opinion and what you learned from the reading. NO FINAL! Easy A! :)
Easy assignments, no tests, but lectures can be boring
Good teacher, easy class. I took it online and there really wasn't muhch work: just two assignments and eight discussion boards. She is strict though on have citations in your posts, but other than that it's easy. Overall, really nice prof
Overall an excellent class. Going into it I had little interest in the subject - nearing the end of the quarter, I had really learned a ton and came away with very positive life lessons. It took a bit to understand what was expected, but one I figured it out ... it was smooth sailing the rest of the way! I recommend this class and instructor.
Excellent! Loves her topic. Cares about students. Loves interaction. Answers questions well. I loved her and will take another class from you!
Great teacher. Erin has passion for her subject. She is very interested in her students and their experiences. I would highly recommend. If you show up and follow directions on the assignments, you can easily earn an A
Great Teacher, great class!
Women's health was ridiculously easy. TOO easy. There are only a few assignments and generally no note taking is required. Class is is useless, I literally feel like I'm losing brain cells just listening and not being actively involved. The syllabus for this class needs to seriously be improved, I don't feel like I learned anything new. useless.
Erin is super easy. I didn't really learn anything new in her class (not because she didn't teach but, because I had already learned a lot of this stuff in my High School Sex Ed Class). HW is SUPER easy, and it was nice not to have tests, or a final in this class. It is listed as a 2cr class, should be a 1cr class.
Very interesting. It's not really hard, but it's interactive and fun. SHe is passionate about her topic, and gets you to want to make healthy change. Thanks!
AWESOME class! Very interesting textbook and she is very into her topics. I loved this class, and lost 10 lbs over the quarter~!
Very Interesting Class and loved the professor. She made the class interesting and fun.
She is awesome. Easy A: just turn in assignments on time. She's so energetic and relatable. Normally an all girl's class so we have fun. def recommend
She is stern, she wants things just how she asked. She tells you exactly what to do so it is hard to mess it up. Very informative and easy to understand. She is nice and funny. I will be taking a class from her again in the future.
Erin is a very pleasant teacher and if you want to learn about women's health, you will. My only critique is that she was passive about some students who continually chatted during class and annoyed everyone. I wish she'd resolved that. As for everything else, it was great! Easy to follow, lots great info. She's awesome.
I didn't like this teacher at ALL! She wasn't helpful when I asked questions and made me feel like she had something against me. I took her online course and she made it harder than it should have been. I don't recommended this teacher!!!
I took her class online and loved! It was very well designed. She spends a lot of time giving caring feedback. It changed my life. Thanks, Erin!
Wow! I lost 10 lbs this quarter and have a MUCH healthier relationship with food. Erin is VERY passionate about her topic and makes all of the homework relevant to your life. Loved the class and her!
Great teacher that really knows her subject matter and is passionate! You have really easy weekly readings that are tied to weekly online assignments, and workbook exercises. This class has very minimal homework. Just skim the readings and pick some quotes to include in your answers. Erin is also an easy grader. Definitely take a class from her!
She's such an awesome teacher. The class is super easy, but I really do learn some awesome stuff.
Erin was awesome! I would recommend her for anyone who needs a health credit or is interested in the topic!
Great class! She is very passionate about health and very focused on teaching. I learned a lot and enjoyed it. Not too easy and not too hard, mostly informative and interesting. Not boring at all. I found her to be pleasant and professional. She likes to stay on task and speaks to her students with respect and compassion. I recommend her class.
I loved her class, she makes it very exciting. It's such an easy class and can be applied in your life outside college. The textbook is needed to be able to turn in assignments. All assignments are turned in online.
Just show up to class (attendance required) & turn in weekly reflections online. You must buy the textbook through the bookstore for the class for the reading, but the class is really easy. No final exam, but there is an easy/simple final group presentation. She's funny too
I took Hlth 104 with Erin Spring 2013, and this class is way more work than her 104 class way, but way more interesting. Love her openness, personal stories and opinions on this subject! Weekly reflection based on weekly readings, longer mid term and final reflection, plus final project and goal setting project. Not too much work though for 2 cr
Was a wonderful teacher and made this health class enjoyable.
She is one of my favorite teachers. Her class is fairly easy, maybe a little too easy but really interesting. I'm glad I took it. If you do your reading and turn in reflections on time, you'll get an A. She is understanding and very passionate. Highly recommend her.
Wonderful teacher. Super easy class if you do the weekly workshops and attend class. A few major assignments but they were not difficult at all. She was very clear and was willing to help the students.
Awesome teacher! Very nice and helpful. Fun and interesting class. You will learn a lot from her classes.
Really great teacher and person! Although required more work than in my other classes, it was very consistent and pretty easy (weekly chapter reflections). Definitely recommend!
Happiness and Health: This was a very easy class. Easy, but informational and very inspirational. A reflection is due every week, but as long as you read the book and stay on schedule, you'll be fine. About the professor, she's very nice. She's always smiling but will get strict when needed. I love her hair and her style of clothing too :)
Erin Staples is an amazing instructor who not only educates her students but also inspires them! She's motivating with a positive outlook. I enjoyed everything about her class and think she's awesome!
Erin is everything a health teacher should be. She is kind, inspirational, and has a love for helping people achieve a higher level of happiness. She even made time and met me in her office when I needed her to. She is a lovely human being. I will take her next chance I get.
There is a lot of reading and discussions are the ONLY things that you are graded on. As long as you read your material and are making an effort, she is an amazing professor.
Erin Staples is an AMAZING Professor, not only is very clear and understandable she is also a very good teacher. I learned a lot in her class. If I could I would take it over and over again!
She's such a sweetheart. I took her Intense Fitness Walking class while I was pregnant and she without hesitation changed some of the activities we were doing to best suit my situation. She's kind, funny and a great conversationalist. She teaches well and is a great motivator. After birth I'm definitely taking another fitness class of hers.
Very unclear instructions, continuously received low grades on homework. I asked for clarity and for her to show me what to properly do and would either get a vague response "make sure you're reading the right stuff" or no response at all. Nice teacher, she just doesn't care about students.
I loved this class. The homework was weekly and usually based off the reading. Very personable in class and understanding of any issues you may have that may effect your grade as long as you are proactive in letting her know. Information in the course if very useful and I recommend to take for more than just a required credit.
The only good thing I have to say about Erin Staples was that in class she brought a lot of energy. She would not meet outside of class. She is also rather disrespectful, she told me "apparently you put too much on your plate," when my grandmother was in the hospital and had no way of transportation and I had official doc. To prove I'm not lying.
She is a cool person. Class is incredibly easy. You don't need the book but you are supposed to read the chapters to do a reflection. I didn't read them and got full points on every reflection. Be careful with the final project because her requirements are unclear.
This class is a joke. Although I was glad to have a class with minimal homework, no tests, and a class discussion as the only final, I did not learn anything. Prof Staples was helpful and clear but the content was nothing groundbreaking that I did not previously know. I recommend this class if you need easy credits but not if you want to learn.
Erin was a wonderful professor! She had a positive attitude everyday and you can really tell that she's passionate about what she teaches. I loved her lectures! For homework, there was only a short reflection due every week. No tests! I highly recommend this class, it was great!
This class might be the most important class I have ever taken. Most of my classes in my major had a lot of baggage. The class content was easy, but the material covered helped me outside of class. Will recommend Happiness and Health.
Erin was AMAZING! She really knows how to cheer people up! You can tell she is very passionate about her job and that she wants only the best for her students. Did lots of fun activities and the only homework due every week was a reflection on the chapter we read in our textbook. I would take the class again. Take her.
I took HPE266 with Erin Staples and it was a great class. I learned a lot. There was minimal work. It is an easy class, but it is a good class
I took health and your weight online and I enjoyed it. I learned a lot. There is a book you need to buy to read, but it isn't big. You have to do an online discussion every week.
Erin was so sweet! She provided good feedback on the weekly write-ups, meaning she actually took the time to read them, unlike other professors I've had. The final project was fun. I was worried the class would be difficult since we only met once a week, but it wasn't hard at all and Erin made great use of the in-class time.
Teacher was super nice, graded promptly, and the class was super easy! Only reading and a discussion each week. I would recommend this teacher to everyone!
This class is so boring. There isn't a ton of work and the work you do have is super easy. Her lectures are long, she wants you to read the book but no one does and it really doesn't effect much. I wouldn't take her again, she's not a horrible teacher just annoying. Also, all the information given is things we've all heard a million times before.
I absolutely loved Erin. She created an incredibly welcoming and loving environment for every single person in the class. The classwork was very easy and she gave good feedback. This is probably the easiest class I have taken work-wise. I came out of this class feeling more confident and loving myself more than I ever have before.
A fun class with lots of open discussions and videos. The teacher is funny and quirky, and makes you want to get up and go make healthier choices. Her assignments are generally easy. Do the reading, show up and participate, and have a good attitude! The theme of the course is generally focused on mindfulness and living life to the fullest.
I took Erin's women's health class. The class only met on Wednesdays and the assignments were mainly done online through canvas. Erin was an amazing, caring, relatable, and inspirational professor. Her lectures were engaging and helpful. I would take the class again if I could and recommend it to anyone who is interested in women's health!
I sat at the front of class, and by the end of the term felt like Erin was a friend! Erin has a good sense of humor, and interacts with students on a personal level. Be ready to talk about somewhat personal things with classmates. Hardest things in the class were the few essays, and the final exam was fun and relaxed. Recommend this class and prof!
Class was good, I loved her lectures and made me really want to strive to do better, and make better choices. Her grading criteria wasn't clear and was pretty messy, even after asking her about it. I never knew if she got any of my emails, she was hard to communicate with. Get graded down if you miss a class, except for one free pass.
My experience with Erin was that she was very apathetic. She wrote very unclear and poorly worded instructions that took my class as a whole half of a quarter to finally figure out. Assignments are easy enough as they're mostly just busy work. Don't expect to get much out of this course.
There's 2 discussion posts and 1 quiz every week. 1 discussion post is based on videos and readings from the week and the other is recording your well-being and physical labs from the week. There's specific activities you practice for the labs and they change every week. If you keep up with the work and don't wait till the last minute, it's easy.
I absolutely loved Erin as a teacher! She was always very thoughtful and the assignment were always so fun and entertaining. The final was a breeze, and being in a small group was really nice to get to know my peers. Totally take her class if you can.
I took professor staples for PE Fitness Walking and it is the easiest A I have ever received. Show up to class and you're guaranteed to pass. She's an amazing person who is very inclusive of systematically non dominant groups.
It was an easy enough class, but I felt like there was a lot of work for being only two credits. There was as much work in this class as my five credit classes. The teacher was very nice. The work was pretty easy, but there just seemed to be too much.
Professor Staples has a packed curriculum. I learned so much in this class but it was a lot more work than I was expecting. We read a chapter every week from our book and usually watched a video or two and did a discussion post. This class did require a bunch of time but I still highly recommend.
For only being a 3 credit class there was a lot of assignments, pretty comparable to other 5 credit classes I've taken; don't think she knows how to give a fair amount of assignments based on number of credits.
Erin was fantastic! She really cares about the subject and her students. You will read a chapter each week, but the reading is very interesting. The assignments are interesting. I couldn't recommend more!
Professor Staples is compassionate and passionate. You are just expected to read the text each week, and do a few meaningful assignments. I will take her again!
This is the 2nd class I took with Professor Staples. She was caring and thoughtful. She has a very flexible late policy showing that she cares about her students. The reading is interesting and I learned a lot about my health!
Professor Erin is so passionate! The lectures were super interesting and inspired me to change my focus to Women's Studies. The homework is not easy, but it's interesting!
Erin has a very well-developed online class. Probably the best I have seen. Expectations are clear, but she is also flexible and caring. She is VERY responsive to questions and concerns. I had a lot going on, and she let me turn in assignments late without penalty. I really appreciate her!
Erin was really great! She was very quick to reply to emails. She was flexible in grading. You get PE & Health credit, so you do have to do physical activity, quizzes, and discussions every week. I enjoyed the small groups. Very important class that will help you be healthier if you put in the work!
Erin expects you to do the reading and participate in the course. You will learn a lot, and if you read, you will do well.
Very interesting topics to help you be a better you. She was very accessible and provided great feedback.
I was introduced to a lot of new strategies and techniques. You're getting credit for a PE class, so plan accordingly.
I really enjoyed this class. I don't know how anybody can consider this class hard or a lot of work. You reading one easy chapter a week and take a quiz on it. Then you practice different happiness techniques. I learned a lot about myself and loved the class!
So far she's has been great to learn from. I took her mind/body health course fully online and it was a breeze. You definitely have to put time and effort into your assignments and do the reading. She assigns lots of ted-talks. But she's a great teacher and isn't too harsh with her grading. As long as you follow rubric and syllabus it's fine
If you know the minimum about Mind/Body health, don't take this class expecting to learn very much. It was easy, as she only required a weekly discussion post, quiz, and lab. The only difficult part of this class was how specific you need to be in your communication with Erin and how closely you need to follow her homework guides.
The professor was an easy grader. She gave feedback on everything and graded quickly. HSe would respond to emails usually the same day. I will say, however, as a course, it was very misleading. I took Women's health and was expecting to learn about women. It was a lot about oppression rather than women's anatomy.
Your average 2-credit class. If you need a health credit to graduate, I recommend it. It's usually one chapter of reading from our physical book "The How of Happiness", a few YouTube videos, a 5 question quiz (with 2 attempts), and a discussion of a few paragraphs each week. Not a huge final, no essay, and the teacher is fairly nice over email.
This instructor was ok. The best thing about her is she is super understandable. She is kind of greedy for grades. She has lot's of work. She also has TONS of videos. In general I would take her again. She usually doesn't except late work. She is ok
I took this class just to have the amount of credits I needed to qualify for student loans - as I needed to repeat a biology class. I thought this class was actually pretty boring. The book she assigns for all her lessons is not really intriguing and I felt that I had to push myself to read it each week. Don't think I learned anything new.
She was a great professor who cares a lot about what she is teaching. Very simple, easy, and straightforward class that was interesting to take. We watched a lot of videos and ted talks during her lectures which were fun to learn from. Just get your work done on time and show up to class and you'll pass. I highly recommend this professor to anyone.
Her class on happiness frequently includes highlighting negativity. Picky grader, but accessible outside of class and explains grading. Ignores accommodations and required dean intervention. Will tell students they have answered questions incorrectly when the slides reflect same answer. Threatens class grades after miscommunicating assignments.
Communication was not great. Her directions changed five times throughout the assignments and then she would get upset at us if 90% of the class did not understand. I was afraid to come up and ask for clarification because I would be met with an annoyed look. Not helpful or trying to work with you, almost as if she is only there for the pay.
I read several of these reviews before this term excited to meet this "kind" prof. They seem to be all very outdated. Professor Staples is extremely passive aggressive and irritable with her students. Do not ask her any questions she will get mad. She had a negative demeanor and was very unapproachable. Also, way too much work for a 2-credit class.
I took HPE266 for my health/pe credit. It was an online course and I gained a lot of knowledge from it! there is a weekly lab log with activities that you have to complete, a quiz based on readings each week, and a lot of discussion posts, but overall the class was very easy to complete + pass!
super easy + informational class! we had a few readings/ted talks per week, plus a discussion and short quiz. grades really fast and gives good feedback!
