She's really nice, if you attend the class and read the materials, should be fine.
She helps tremendously. 2 take home tests, and she allows you to email her the "at-home" part and tell you what you need to fix which guarantees an A. She gives you study guides which are all you need for that test. It's so easy, she's fun, and she's not hesitant to change the syllabus dates. Best history class ever. (I hate history, by the way.)
She's pretty awesome. I'd recommend her course to anyone.
She is very helpful. Her tests are easy as long as you pay attention in class and fill out the study guide.I never used the text book.I relied on her notes and did pretty well.
Wotring is very passionate about history so her lectures are more interesting. Tests are easy and there are extra credit opportunities. Attendance isn't mandatory or needed if you have the textbook to study for tests.
She is one of the best professors I have ever had! shes passionate and really wants everyone to succeeded! Easy test and extra credit! laid back and funny
Professor Wotring was great. Gave extra credit and free points on exams. There were three exams, but we had so many missed days that we only took two, and she gave everyone a 100% on the third. Fill out the study guides she gives, and you'll get an A on the tests. TAKE THIS COURSE!
She was very nice and helpful. She gives a study guide for each test. If you fill out the study guide and know it, you will do fine in the class. Its history, so you can find everything you need to fill out the study guide on the internet, which means you dont HAVE to go to class, although it is still recommended. We had three grades, which w
She is an amazing teacher and will help when you ask. Cancelled class a lot but did not test on material she didn't go over.
Wotring is awesome! She knows that history is required and not everyone's favorite subject, so she takes it easy on grading exams (3 total). Gives extra credit some days just for showing up to class. Do the study guides that she posts and you will definitely pass with an A. Genuinely nice and caring professor!
I love this woman. She's extremely nice and accommodating, gives you a study guide, and offers help at every turn. Lectures are long but she's funny and keeps it interesting. Only grades are 3 tests but she always offers extra credit. Follow the study guide and you'll pass no problem. Textbooks are not super necessary, I hardly used mine.
Literally easiest professor ever. Only had three tests (one of which she actually cancelled and gave everyone a 100%), she cancelled class literally once or twice a week, and both tests we did actually did take I got above 100% on without going to class ever. Plus she is adorable and really down to earth. If you need a history credit take Wotring!
This was the easiest class of my semester, and by far the most interesting. I always struggled with history, but she somehow made it easy for me to stay focused. We had three tests all semester (One of which she cancelled and gave everyone a 100%), and we had weekly reading and writing assignments, which if you did them you got a 100% as well.
Professor Wotring was great. I hate history, and to be completely honest, I didn't go to class extremely often. However, when I did, I thoroughly enjoyed the lectures. The tests were super easy (as long as you knew the study guide), and she actually threw out a test because she had cancelled class so much. TAKE WOTRING FOR HISTORY 101!!!
I had Wotring online, which is probably changed her teaching tacit some. She is definitely passionate about history, which is great, but she gave a RIDICULOUS amount of homework. We had DAILY deadlines with multiple chapters of reading (2 textbooks), journal entries, discussion boards & Tegrity lectures. She seems great, just don't take her online!
She is so wonderful and accommodating. I took her online and it was a breeze. Honestly going into the class I did not think I would enjoy the topics, but she really made it interesting and fun to learn. Tests are simple and straightforward, just make sure you fill out her study guides and you will do well.
I seriously think she is the coolest professor I've ever taken. She's laid back, and doesn't take attendance. Her lectures are fantastic though made going to class very interesting. I want her to teach an upper level class. She's awesome seriously take her class. It's 3 exams, and 10 reading logs... they are not hard.
One of my favorite professors at UofL. She is very knowledgeable and makes every lecture interesting. She gives study guides for all the tests and is very clear about what you need to know and is lenient on grading too. If you go to class and fill out the study guide it is impossible to not get an A. Also, super helpful if you ever have questions.
She's the nicest person ever and is a very interesting lecturer. Easiest class I have had yet. Definitely take her if you can.
I was really nervous about taking this class since I never did really well in my AP history classes. Despite this, I ended up with a 102 in Dr. Wotring's class. Each exam has a bonus section on it and if you show up the first day after an exam she will give you bonus pts in my experience. Also, she's really sweet and fun to listen to in lecture.
I never used the book, went to lectures most of the time, studied the provided study guides and did well on the exams. Grade is composed of 10 reading logs and 3 exams. Prof Wotring is very laid back and entertaining. You will have plenty of opportunity for bonus so there is no reason anyone shouldn't get an A if you go to class and study some.
Took her online and she was great. She provides online lectures that help a ton and gives study guides. My only complaint is that she says the short answers on the study guide are the EXACT same on testNOT TRUE. They do relate to the same topics but are different questions. If you listen to the lectures and do all assignments you'll get a A.
She is a GEM! I never bought the book, barely went to class (just did study groups) and passed all her tests (which were online) with A's. She cancels class a lot but she gives "bonus work". I made an A in this class. Nobody should have a grade lower than an A in this class! Would recommend her If anyone has not taken HISTORY 101!
Erin is an angel. We have had two tests so far that I have gotten over 100 percent on. You literally have to try NOT to get an A!! Always go to class because her lectures are like her tests. I was able to miss one or two classes but I read the textbook at home when I missed. She clearly cares about the students and the material.
My only complaint is that she cancelled class several times and still expected us to know the content she was going to teach that day. That being said, I still got As on all the tests, so it wasn't that big of a deal.
1)Take Wotring for HIST101. 2)Thank me later.
I never in my life thought I would enjoy a history class this much. Professor Wotring makes it interesting through her passion in the subject. Her tests are reasonable if you show up to classes and take some notes. I got the text book by accident but never read it.
Take this class. That's all there is to it. She was my favorite professor this semester and she made a somewhat unattractive topic into a really entertaining class.
She was AWESOME! literally the easiest class I have EVER taken. The tests were VERY simple. literally made a 100% overall for the course and never showed up to class. She gives extra credit and is really nice and understanding. I would take her again if I could.
Missed half the semester Obtained a 184/150 Sat in the front. Very clear material on lectures. Tests reflected material and class discussions Gave everyone a bonus participation grade at the end Assigned extra credit and had EC questions on each test 3 90 minute online open book 20 mc 2 OR tests with access to Internet, no hw, no attendance grade.
She was a great professor! there are 3 exams online, but as long as you complete the study guides its a breeze. She responds to emails in a timely manner. Overall, she is one of the best professors I have had.
Professor Wotring is an amazing professor! She really knows her stuff. She lectures as if she was present during the time because she is so knowledgeable. Attendance is not mandatory but I liked coming to class. Be prepared to read A LOT! But this class was super easy and I received a 107! She gives lots of extra credit and cancels class a lot.
Professor Wotring is one of the nicest ladies ever. truly does her best to make her class enjoyable and relatable. Highly recommend her.
Erin Wotring is a beautiful intelligent women who cares and will work with you if your personal life interferes with your classwork really a great teacher
If you want an easy A. TAKE HER CLASS. Show up barley paid attention and got an A+ . Gives lots of chances for extra credit
I took HIST 102 online and it was a good class for raising my GPA. You have to write some papers and take tests, but they are online so you can use notes.
This class really is an easy A. Miss 5 or fewer classes and you will be exempt from the last test. I don't recommend buying the book, I didn't use it once.
Great experience with Professor Wotring. Lectures were interesting, and the exams were fairly easy. On top of that, you have extra credit opportunity within the exam, too, so you can miss a few questions and still potentially get an A. There was also a presentation in this class, but it wasn't that much work at all. 10/10 would recommend!
Professor Wotring made me enjoy History! I didn't think it could be done. She is passionate about the subject, and her enthusiasm is contagious.
Never had to talk to this professor. Super easy class. Read the book and you'll pass.
This teacher is amazing! The class is set up to work at your own pace and the teacher is always there to help with any of your needs. She is very kind and considerate. She also gives you a lot of extra credit opportunists if you missed an assignment. I really enjoyed taking this class and would recommend to anyone!
This class was the hardest general course I've ever taken. Your entire grade consists of only 3 tests and a presentation, with no extra credit, so if you receive a bad grade on something, you're screwed. She's very passionate about history, but is very lecture heavy with barely any slides. I've had more success in this class teaching myself.
Tries her best to make seemingly dry material very interesting. Almost half the class never showed up except for test days but I highly recommend showing up, as you do not have to even touch the book as long as you attend class and take decent notes.
I took the online course. It was very laid out. I did not even have to contact the professor at all. Quizzes and 2 assignments due every Monday by 11:59. One essay due at the end of the semester and there is an extra credit assignment offered. I worked ahead in this class a lot because assignments were so simple.
Easy online class as long as you do the work. Requires 10 reading assignments throughout the semester, in addition to three large tests and weekly chapter assignments. A textbook was assigned, but I never ordered it and still received at A+. Just watch the lectures, which can be lengthy but she makes them interesting.
I didn't pay attention any day in this class and I should've gotten a B+ but bombed the last exam. There is no final just 3 tests, if you pay attention to lectures just a little bit and follow the study guide shold be an easy A. Study guides are very helpful. Only annoying part was the 10 journal entries you have to to for the semester.
Take Prof Wotring for HIST101 & thank me later. One of the easiest classes I've ever taken. She requires a textbook but if you go to all the lectures & take notes you won't need it. Grade was only based on 3 tests and a presentation, but she gave a lot of extra credit on the tests. Very passionate and caring and tries to make lectures interesting.
Professor Wotring is an angel, being in her class you can feel how much she wants you to succeed. Attendance isnt mandatory but lectures are the majority of the material. Every other Friday is online. I loved her and would take again.
Took this class over winter. It was very easy, I didn't watch a single lecture. You just have to read the book answer a quiz and a short essay. No exams.
Great teacher, she is very flexible and understanding if something comes up. I took this as an 8 week class and it was a reasonable amount of work. Untimed chapter quizzes with material straight from the book and 8 300-word reading logs throughout the course on articles she provides. She is a lenient grader. Complete the work and you will get an A!
I took Professor Wotring's HIS 101 class at JCTC. I am NOT a history fan and was really dreading the course. I was so grateful for this professor! She is so passionate about the subject, and made it interesting and engaging. Do the work and you will get an A.
Professor Wotring was great. This class was perfect for me. The quizzes are easy if you do the reading. You do need to know the material, but it's all multiple choice or T/F. Each week there is also a short essay due. If you read the article and give your honest assessment you'll be fine. I really appreciate the absence of busy-work. IU Southeast.
Beyond one of the best teachers I have and if you do the work it really an easy A's.
I am taking this class right now online and she only assigns 2 assignments a week which are very easy to complete. there are no exams or a final. i know this will be a very easy A for me and I don't do well with online classes.
She's an easy grader for this class. She does a chapter reading and a quiz every week, very easy quizlet style. They want you to pass this class. You can choose to listen to the lecture or not, it is usually 1 to 1-1/2 hours long, but chalked full of cool stuff. Kind and responsive. Not very engaging work, but GE classes rarely are.
Professor Wotring is very enthusiastic and professional when teaching. She lectures with slides and knows all the information by heart. Show up, pay attention, and do your weekly discussion boards (which were very easy) and you will have no problem getting an A.
I enjoyed Professor Wotring! Her online class criteria is spaced out so it can be finished in a timely manner.
The course is straightforward; there are 10 Reading Logs and 18 Quizzes, but they are effortless. If you don't make a great score, you can retake it to get a higher grade. Reading Logs are easy just get close to the 300-word count.
A very interesting human! Very easy grader. Gives a quiz every week, and a reading log every other. Incredibly easy, and if you want it to be, informative class. Her lectures are very long but they'll keep you entertained.
I took this course 2nd half of the semester and it is the best course I have ever taken. It is so easy and she offers so much extra credit. Do not listen to bad comments. She is such an easy grader and so nice and understanding. I would take all of her classes if I needed them.
The class is not terribly difficult. The quizzes actually require you to know the information, so reading the designated chapter each week and understanding is a must. Reading logs are due every so often as well. Not terrible, just be close to 300 words. This class would be okay if it mattered to my major, but its quiet a bit of work for a general
If you take this class online, all the homework and quizzes are due at the end of the semester. She is understanding and will work with you ,she always responds to e-mails. You get multiple attempts on the quizzes and there is not midterm or final. Also, she drops the two lowest grades. You do have reading logs but they are not to hard at all.
honestly loved her, super understanding and easy, realizes that not everyone enjoys history so she makes it pretty easy, gave extra credit, quizzes and reading logs were the only grades, didn't have to attend class to get an A, definitely take if you can
I can't praise this professor enough. I took an online class and it was so easy. The only grades were the weekly quizzes and reading logs. Majority of the quizzes are on quizlet and she even lets you make up late assignments for full credit. Would absolutely take her class again! Easy A!
This Professor is AMAZING. She designs this course to pass. The textbook is helpful but not needed, and she posts everything in advance so you can work at your own speed and work ahead. Shes very understanding and as long as you email her, late work is ok. TAKE THIS PROF!!
Take Professor Wotring if you are looking to knock out a gen ed. Absolutely outstanding.
One of my favorite classes! Professor Wotring is great! She is so caring and really helpful and is very passionate about history. You will definitely be able to pass this class without worry.
Super easy class. If you read the textbook you should have no issues. For me her lectures were a little long and boring and even unnecessary to get an A in the class. You have 10 reading logs over the semester and then weekly quizzes, that's it. The reading logs only have to be 300 words. She's an easy grader on the reading logs as well.
Professor Wotring is fantastic, I cannot stress this enough. She is very passionate about history and designs the course so you can pass as long as you try a respectable amount. Every assignment is online, attendance is not taken, and with enough effort you will get an A easily.
If you're thinking about taking this class, do it. Professor Wotring is an amazing professor who knows a lot about History. She is super chill. While attendance is not mandatory, I recommend going. You truly learn more about American History and facts you didn't even know.
I absolutely loved this professor. She is very flexible with grading and is willing to give an extension on assignments because of unforeseen circumstances. Great with communication, gives good feedback, and is overall a very nice professor. As long as you read the chapters, the assignments aren't that difficult.
Super easy online course. Great if you need a D2 credit. About 30 minutes to an hour of work is required each week. she uses a textbook but it's you don't really need it to pass the class. Would definitely take it if you need an easy gen ed history credit.
Nicest professor at UofL! Good lectures and super accessible.
This course was called Greek and Roman Culture, and the professor taught it as if everyone already knew a great deal about Greek and Roman culture, which I did not (hence why I took the class). If you have a special interest in this topic and you are a history major, take this class, but otherwise, try to avoid it.
Erin Wotring is an amazing professor. I disliked History before I took her class, I actually enjoyed it very much. Recommended my son take her class and he enjoyed her as well. Very caring and easy to follow along with.
Very clear expectations and assignments. Really easy class. There's one mini quiz a week, but it's really easy and has extra credit questions. You have to do 300 word reading logs but you can choose which primary source you want to write about. Don't buy the book, she posts lectures that go over everything. Most answers are on quizlet.
Professor Wotring is one of the few teachers I've encountered who gets you excited to learn the content of her course. From the time she starts speaking, there is a smile on her face. Even though it's a history class, she finds a way to keep her presentations interesting and keep your attention. If you need a credit and she is teaching, TAKE IT!
Prof. Wotring is genuinely my favorite professor I've had. Her lectures are so passionate and fun; it's obvious that she's extremely knowledgeable and makes sometimes difficult concepts easy to understand! Her tests aren't very difficult, but because the lectures are so full of content, I would recommend taking detailed notes to be best prepared.
I dislike history and took the class for a GenEd. Overall, really enjoyed the content and clear expectations with assignments. 3 big tests, 1 presentation, and quite a few reading logs that are based on easy readings. Take if you have the chance.
Hist 104 is a great class, has great class structure, content etc. What really made the class for me though was Professor Wotring who shares history and enjoys it & is smiling. Cares about her students, she makes sure her class is a safe space and works with students to ensure that they are in a situation that is safe for them.
She is so lovely. Her class was so fun to me because for 50 minutes, I was taken out of stressful school life, and instead got to listen to history that was actually interesting. Many students no-show, which makes me sad because she tries a lot. I loved her class. It's not hard if you try. She's also lenient with deadlines. Not a super hard grader.
She was such an amazing women, very passionate and knowledgeable about content. I would definitely take her class again.
If you are reading this, take her, she is amazing took her online and was a pretty easy class few test and reading logs weekly.
Great online class. A lot of variety in provided substance if you want to learn a different way. Easy but informative.
This was what every class should be like. It was easy yet taught me so much. The assignments weren't too difficult, but you still need to be able to demonstrate your knowledge of the topics. Sometimes the word counts were hard to hit with the given prompts, so I often felt like I was saying the same thing over and over, but I always got the points.
Professor Wotring was phenomenal!! I highly recommend her if you're a history major—she will keep you engaged and up to date on information. Make sure you attend lectures though or you will get behind.
She got sick a lot so the schedule got pushed back which allowed us to not have a final. Make friends because you're going to be confused and not know what to do for the tests. Get reading logs done on time they're a big part of your grade. Take notes and read! Do the entire study guide because the one thing you don't know will be on the tests.
