can be a little repetitive but all he really wants to do is help kids. always has extra credit, meticulous notes.. great professor
He's frustrating, has no idea what he's teaching, can't clearly expalin anything. Nice, but I haven't learned one thing I read the book during class. Extra credit saved me from failing. Gives 6 or 7 question quizzes every week. If you get one question wrong, you automatically get around an 84. He's useless,I taught myself this course, he did not.
He is a really great teacher, his classes are somewhat boring, but he tries really hard to get all his students to do well, various extra credit opportunities and will ad up to 5 points on your final grade for going to class and doing the extra credit. He basically gives you the answers to the test and quizzes in his study guides from WEBCT
Mr. D is a nice guy. He wants to help you and will meet with you at any time. Gives many extra credit opportunity's. There is a quiz every Thursday. The final exam was hard though.
I feel like he's a great teacher. Although his class is boring, ATTENDANCE is MANDATORY. He gives you extra credit to go towards your test grade or HW grade. He also drops the 2 lowest quiz grades, which is to an advantage to you. He adds 5 points towards you final grade for perfect attendance or if you miss 1!
Easy class all you have to do is go to class and study the studyguide he gives for each exam and quiz. He gives a lot of extra credit and does his best to help every student
Professor Dupuis is a nice guy. You can easily get a good grade if you go to class and take notes. He is sometimes hard to understand because many times he won't finish a thought, but he's funny and although going to class is mandetory it's not a hassle. This is a good professor to take this class with.
Dupuis is the man. you do have to go to class and take notes. just study the review questions he gives you and it is impossible to not get an A.
He is a really easy professor. A lot of extra credit is given prior to exams and quizzes and during them. If u do the extra credit, show up to class and study his lecture notes you will ace the exams and the class
His class is pretty easy (lots of extra credit), but he's an awkward guy- often can't form a sentence and creates incomprehensible examples for pretty easy topics. If you're looking to get a good grade for an elective, read the book and you'll get an easy A. If you actually want to learn economics, I suggest taking it from another teacher.
Sure, he's nice, but SO confusing. Cannot express himself. Has an 11 page syllabus and reads every word to you. Lectures are sooo bad, keeps you untill the very end every time. Not a good class, hated it, had to drop, to painful to sit there and listen to him struggle to speak.
Professor Dupuis, is great and in my opinion the easiest economics professor. I had him for both ECN 201 and 202. Class lectures, the text book, and online material are super easy to follow. He does make you sign into class so attendance is mandatory. He's a really nice and funny guy who genuinely cares about his students.
He really cares about students passing, and I'm sure he would be a great community college teacher, but he really isn't very good if you actually want to learn about the subject. If you are looking to take economics just for an easy A, take it with him, but if you actually want to learn, I would suggest you take it with a different professor.
Hard to pay attention because of constant stammering and repetition of previous sentences he couldn't say. Teaches with an over-head and lectures by reading the slides with little additional information. Nice enough guy, very poor teacher.
I don't know what everyone is talking about but professor Dupuiss is a great teacher. You are assigned to read outside of class and he reinforces everything in class. Lectures can be a little boring but it is economics, what do you expect? He gives tons of extra credit for tests and quizzes and makes it really hard not to get an A
Dr. D is hands down one of nicest and easiest teachers/graders in the college of business. I have taken ECN 201 and 202 with him and left both with A's. He does stumble on his words a lot which is why I rely on the text (which is also elementary level) but, like said previously, he gives a lot of extra credit and wants you to pass.
Cool guy. I crack up just thinking about him. Extremely easy. Quizzes weekly, but they are all multiple choice. Exams are multiple choice. Study occasionally and you should have no trouble in this class at all.
One of the nicest and most enthusiastic professors I've ever had. Quizzes every week, best of 6 count. Cum final exam that's weighted VERY heavily. Tons of extra credit, do all of it, you'll have no problem getting an A. HIGHLY recommended.
He is a really nice guy and if you pay attention and get involved in class he will generally like you. He tends to repeat himself sometimes but if you are okay at reading the book (SUPER easy reading) you should easily get an A in the class
A nice guy, but just not a great professor. He stumbles upon many of his words and tends to contradict himself. However, if you read the text and do his study questions you will get an A. He's OK if you're looking for an easy A but if you want to learn economics don't take him.
Go to all of the classes and do the extra credit!! easy A!
Dupuis is an idiot savant! Pay attention in class an do assigned work and you will get an A. Although he has a hard time speaking and expressing his thoughts he still teaches the material thoroughly!
The exams are somewhat hard even if you study. They are multiple choice with extremely long questions and nearly identical answers to choose from. His writing is always incomprehensible making examples and exam feedback written hard to understand. He has trouble reading (and sounding out words) as well as some comprehension issues.
His mind can not tolerate any deviation from what he has prepared. Talking, lateness and phones distract him so much that he can't even think! The lectures are like a tape running in his mind which he is the speaker He is like a record player who is playing a pre-made record (Complete with the skips!) Class is easy but the professor is annoying!
Take econ with Dupuis!!! He gives enormous amounts of extra credit that there's no way you can't pass. He's passionate about econ and it shows. His tests are okay and often taken from his study guides. Do the extra credit, go to class, and don't get caught with your cell phone!! Overall he's a weird guy but an awesome teacher!
Funny guy, and such an easy grader! Honestly, just go to class and study. LISTEN in class and you will pass. He gives you so many supplements (test reviews, extra credit) that if you use those you shouldn't fail at all! The test questions are all recycled! Those who fail his class are either dumb, or just lazy! Take Professor Dupuis for Economics!
Very easy course. However, if you desire to actually learn economics in any capacity that would allow you to apply it, take this course with a different professor (esp. Mead). Barely competent. Not recommended. Good reviews for this professor are likely from students who do not understand what standards a college professor should be judged upon.
Very nice guy but very scatterbrained. He wants the students to do well. He offers A LOT of extra credit, do it and you'll get an easy A. Also go to class otherwise you will drop one letter grade. His practice/study questions are the same as the tests.
Cares about how his students do. He loves when people participate. Offers a ton of extra credit. Easy A
He truly wants his students to do well but boy, can he drive you nuts. His lectures would benefit from power points and his writing is chicken scratch that can't be discerned even from the front row. Doesn't convey the more difficult concepts from the last few chapters very well. Easy A, but I wouldn't take another class with him.
If you just need Economics as a required course, take him. He's a little "all over the place" but he does want everyone to do well and makes it pretty easy for you. Go to class, do the homework, and pay attention to the test review and you'll do fine. Class is really boring though.
He gives quizzes every friday and lectures every class.
Every move you make in this class will get you some form of extra credit. Not the easiest teacher to follow or understand, but he really cares about his students and wants everyone to do well. The course material isn't difficult so even if you don't pay attention in class you can pass by glancing over the textbook. Perfect to take for a gen ed!
Extra credit opportunities left and right. Will always explain everything as much as possible.
He's kind of hard to follow but if you go to class and try to take good notes based on what he says, you will do fine. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. I didn't utilize it until towards the end of the semester and I really regret it. It's the easiest way to earn points on the quizzes and exams. He is a very nice guy and always wants you to do your best.
A bit over-zealous at times but he's really eager to teach the subject. There are so many extra credit opportunities that it's hard not to get an A. Go to class, answer a few questions, and use the online resources he posts in Sakai and you'll be perfectly fine. He's a really nice guy and will do anything to help you if you're struggling.
Ah, I love Ernie. He is the best! Brings a lot supplies to class. Knows his subject well, always very excited to teach. Loud volume at times, can hear him from down the hall. Very nice man, always willing to get out of the way for next teacher. I mean I haven't actually taken this class, or this professor but yeah. My roommate is his twin
Easy A. I would take him if you just want a good grade. Personally, I think it was a little bit too easy too the point where you don't really learn much.
Prof. Dupuis has been the easiest and most clearest professor I had so far at URI. It's a easy A if you go to every class, do all the extra credit, read the book and just participate. He's very clear with the material and his quizzes and test are fairly easy. Would only recommend him for microeconomics.
ERNIE DUPUIS III IS EXCELLENT, I HAVE NEVER HAD A BETTER TEACHER THAN ERNIE. HIS TEACHING HIS IMPECCABLE, TESTS ARE SIMPLE, QUIZZES ARE BETTER. TAKE HIS CLASS, HE IS FUNNY, APPROACHABLE, AND ALL AROUND A GREAT GUY. 10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND
Best teacher I have ever had. In high school I failed economics, but I found myself extremely successful in the course! Do your work, put the time in, show up, and speak in class- he will love you. Quizzes and texts are straight forward and easy, easy to understand most of the time, engages students, amazing teaching style.
Dupuis makes sense and he's a really nice guy. His lectures can be boring but he teaches you everything you need to know and gives you credit just for participating. He gives huge amounts of extra credit. If you show up and do the extra credit you will get a good grade in this class. Offers tons of extra help and practice quizzes. TAKE THIS CLASS!
Easy if you show up and study. Quizzes and tests are fair. He gives so many opportunities for extra credit, some of my friends finished the class with average grades over 100. His lectures are sometimes tough to get through, but he really cares about his students and wants them to do well. Would definitely take again!
Class was dreadfully boring and slow. He's a great person. Glad I took it with him though. Grades are all exams, which sucked for me, but I wasn't really yearning for an A anyway. The way he adds an "er" to end of every word is pretty hilarious. Sit in the front, show you care, raise your hand a lot let him know who you are. Alot of extracredit!
He is the sweetest and most caring professor. He cares so much for his students and insists on knowing all of his students names. He gives a lot of extra credit. Quizzes every Friday but they are very straight forward. Exams simple. So much extra credit that you can end with a grade over a 100. Great guy, great class.
He is by far the nicest teacher I have had in all of my educational career! He really cares about students and learns everyones name. His notes are really messy but if you just listen to him rather than try and decipher what he writes down, he repeats key information. Tons of extra credit if you participate and put in the work. Great guy and class!
This man is my idol. Gives so much extra credit, making it nearly impossible to receive under a B. If you participate and show up to class you will get an A. Tests are relatively easy and if you don't do well, the extra credit will boost your score. I aspire to be just like Ernie Dupuis when I graduate, great professor and an even better guy.
Professor Dupuis is the man! He's a little weird in his jokes and mannerisms but they actually make him quite enjoyable. He really cares deeply about his students and their success and shows a clear passion for teaching economics. It's not an easy A because you do have to study for his tests occasionally but he's fair and a great professor
Best teacher at the school. Must go high to his classes. Will be the best decision of your college career taking Econ with him.
Best teacher at this school. An easy A, especially since he gives out so much extra credit for everything in his class. Rewards you for participation and will notice when your are absent. Definitely worth taking with him as long as you put in a little effort.
Professor Dupuis is a great professor. He know how to explain concepts to those who do not understand them and does care about his students. You can tell he is passionate, and that makes all the difference.
Professor Dupuis really loves economics so he takes it very serious. He truly cares about his students & is ALWAYS willing to help. Attendance is mandatory & he DOES notice who doesn't show up. There are weekly quizzes, 4 exams, & online hw once a month. He gives a lot of EC, so you'll be fine. Lecture is boring but its econ, what do you expect.
Easiest class I have ever taken, awesome professor, just an easy A, if you do the minimal amount of work. I am taking 202 next semester just so i can have him and that easy A.
One of my all time favorite college professors ... tough subject but Is an easy A if you put in the effort. LOTS of extra credit opportunities
Ernie is the man. Really nice guy and gives you every opportunity to get an A with extra credit. If you take it with anyone else its a mistake. He cares about attendance and notices who doesnt show up.
Dupuis is by far the best professor you can take Econ with. Don't but the book just pay $20 for the Inquisitive with book access. I already signed up for his 202 class. 100% would recommend.
I would definitely take ECN201/202 with Dupuis. He really cares about his students and he will definitely notice if you skip. Professor Dupuis has very good intentions, and a heart of gold. He give a good amount of extra credit opportunities and you should definitely do them. They could make or break your grade because he isn't the easiest grader.
He gives a lot of mindless busy work, its not necessarily hard but he gives a lot of it. I had to buy the book because his lectures are difficult to follow, he has a hard time explaining things and getting his point across. I cant say I learned a single thing from him this semester.
He is a very nice man. He cares about his students. Unfortunately, he could not teach his way out of a paper bag. Struggles to answer any question and just repeats the same things over and over. Very disorganized. A lot of assignments that aren't hard, but are annoying and time-consuming. Easy A. Multiple choice exams.
Had him for ECN201 as gen, loved him so much I took ECN202 just cause. He's very nice, but does have an interesting personality. if you show up to class, take notes, and do the inquisitive you'll pass fine. has a quiz every Friday and its just on notes from that weak, mc 10 questions. Exams 25 MC very easy. Very nice, Easy A if you show up, he cause
Such a sweet man but you'll be teaching yourself everything. spends whole class periods just talking about the hw you have for the week. so much work, very repetitive. can't read his handwriting and doesn't have notes to follow. he tries his best but you'll be doing more teaching to your self. Chegg will help with hw
Very nice guy, cares a lot about his students. Plus the work load is very manageable. He does rely on participation during his lectures but if at least 2-3 people can answer some easy questions he seems happy with that.
I kinda got annoyed by him by mid semester
Professor Dupuis is the sweetest man ever. He makes online learning much easier as he provides office hours and engages students in participation over Zoom. He is happy to explain things further if you ask and really cares about how students are doing overall as well as if they pass the class or not. Only negative is the large amount of homework.
Great man!!! He's very nice and really cares about his students. If you listen and class and do the homework, not too challenging.
Such a great person and thoroughly enjoyed his classes. Does call on people randomly, but extremely helpful and will help you with anything you struggle with.
Professor Dupuis is a great professor and deeply cares for all his students. I would recommend taking his class.
He's a good teacher and I'm actually learning in his class. Helps you a lot and talks you through everything just got to pay attention.
I'm surprised Professor Dupuis's rating is this low- he's the number one economics professor I recommend to everyone. I struggled so much in 201 with a different professor but excelled in his 202. He really is so sweet and cares about his students, and knows how to teach the topics on the most basic, elementary level.
Professor Dupius is a real sweetheart. His lectures are a little chaotic but you can tell he cares about his students. All you really need to do is show up and do the work and you are guaranteed an A.
Professor Dupuis is a great teacher. Most caring professor at URI. Will ask how your day is everyday, gives his students lots of respect. As long as you get all of your work done you will do very well in his class. Would definitely recommend him for any ECN class.
he really is the most caring professor and always asks how your day is before every class. super easy class if you put in some type of effort. take this class Ernest is the boss.
Ernie is the man. He will use you as an example and you will like it. He invented the yankee with no brim. One time I called him sir and there was a puddle underneath him, take it how you will. Ernest is nautical.
Professor Dupuis... you were such a great guy with a kind heart, but the lectures were so miserable. He spent every single class (not an exaggeration) spending over 25 minutes repeating himself. It seems like it is tough for him to even get a sentence out, and he thinks he is doing you a favor by constantly repeating what is due in the coming weeks
He was such a great guy with a kind heart, who genuinely cares but the lectures were very repetitive. He spent every single class repeating himself, yet he made sure you knew what was due in the next coming weeks. Everything is online and he does have group projects/ assignments. Also a lot of essays. Easy class tbh but he teed on work sometimes.
Lectures were very repetitive but he really cares about his students and their learning. The homework can be a lot of writing but it's easy. Drops the lowest quiz and homework grades and offers extra credit for exams. Everything's also online. Just do all the work and take notes and you can get an A.
If you actually want to learn the material you will be able to in this class. Professor Dupuis is a nice guy and does a good job of teaching economics. That said, he puts no barriers in place to prevent cheating on any of the exams which means most kids don't end up learning the material.
Professor Dupuis is a super nice guy, but lectures were extremely boring and repetitive. He uploads plenty of practice material. He assigns a lot of work, but it's not difficult. Overall, he really cares about his students and gives lots of encouragement.
professor dupuis was my favorite professor freshman year. he cares so much about his students and he wants nothing but success for his students. he gives tons of extra credit opportunities for quizzes/exams and makes sure his lectures are clear and understandable for his students. if you're taking econ201 or econ202, do it with professor dupuis.
Man can't lecture without repeating examples several times over, and stumbling over his words. Makes the (mandatory) classes so hard to sit through. That and his awful handwriting mean you are probably best off learning the content on your own. The content is easy and he's an easy grader, but his lecturing abilities are shockingly terrible.
If you don't need to learn economics and only need the credit, take him. He is a super easy grader, and all his exams are online. If you actually want to learn, maybe don't take him since whenever I was listening to what he said, he was basically just saying nonsense strung together. As long as you showed up every class he was appreciative.
Lectures are very boring and he is hard to follow but he is an easy grader and the class can be passed with minimal effort.
His lectures were mandatory and somewhat hard to sit through since he was very repetitive and often disorganized. There were weekly quizzes every Friday, but they were all online and the 2 lowest grades get dropped. There were a few homework assignments but not too many, and they weren't super hard.
Best Professor, super nice and makes the course easy to follow along. Gives a lot of opportunities to collaborate with other students as well as get your grade up.
Mr. Dupuis is such a kind and nice professor! as long as you participate and do your work; you can't fail!
Easy class to do well in. Just show up and do the homework and youll do well. He drops the lowest grades.
I enjoyed the class. He drops the 2 lowest quizzes, lowest group assignment, lowest thought question, and lowest inquisitive grade. He was really strict about excuses for missing class. I had a mandatory doctor's appointment and gave him a note, but said he couldn't excuse it since it wasn't a sick visit. He also does cold call on students a lot.
Ernest Dupuis III is my goat! He drops lowest of everything and he always asks about your day. His lectures can be boring but his class is extremely easy to pass. He also provides very detailed and nice feedback on your assignments. Live Laugh Love Dupuis
Doesn't get better than him. You can tell he loves his job and loves to work with his students, something so rare. He is a tough grader with homework but after the first one you will be able to tell exactly what he is looking for because he gives very detailed feedback so you will be fine. Awesome class and professor, definitely recommend.
He's a nice person but his lectures are super confusing and don't explain well at all. I also had an issue with a project that wasn't my fault and he was very unhelpful with remedying the issue, basically said it was my fault when the situation was out of my control. Like I said, he's nice and everything but difficult to get help from him.
Professor Dupuis (Du-pri), cares a lot about his students. He will always ask about your day and doesn't forget names. He can sound passive aggressive but that is just the way he talks. Long Deadlines gives you plenty of time to do work. Weekly quizzes which can be confusing. Drops a LOT of low grades. Lots of group assignments.
I just had him recently for ECN 201 and genuinely such a great professor. He is not necessarily a harsh grader but when you do something wrong he does tell you why you got it wrong and the right answer so you know for future sake. Does give extra credit for every exam which is great, and also has review sessions before every exam which does help.
