THIS IS A FAIRLY EASY CLASS AS LONG AS YOU PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS. IT SHOULDN'T BE TO HARD YOUR GARANTEED A B IN THE CLASS IF YOU STUDY AT LEAST 2 HOURS THE DAY BEFORE THE TEST
Thought I did good on every test, until I got them back.
Passed with a C. BUT would study 7+ hours for each test, never missed a day of class...Even failed a test that I studyed that long for. He was ridiculous. His questions are ambiguous. Do NOT take the class!!!!!
I liked this teacher. His PowerPoint notes are available online, so u don't have to9 write a lot in class. It's easy to understand him. I got a B+ (I didn't study at all for the last test). I recommend him, since I failed with another teacher!
Good teacher/Good examples. His tests were straighforward. Half of his questions come right out of the study guide - word for word! If you make an attempt, you will get an "A".
VERY difficult class. He doesn't take attendance, but the material is very hard to understand and I found his tests almost impossible. Drop this class and take government...it's a much easier course and there are some wonderful professors.
He is sparse on explaining things.
This guy teaches in a way that makes you think you know the material. HOWEVER when you get your grade on the test, you feel like an idiot. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS!!! Horrible!! Especiall if you are a freshman!
The worst i've had so far. No matter how much you think you know the material, most likely you will come out with an "F" on your test. I dropped his class after 2 test. GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN ON YOUR ADD/DROP PERIOD AND GET SOMEONE ELSE!

This class was the hardest ever. If you miss one day of class, you're basically gonna get an F. no, even if you dont miss any classes...you'll still get an F. His exams are impossible.
Nice guy class isn't that hard if you go and read the book. You have to work in his class so if that isn't what your looking for take someone else. Reading the book and going to class is essential.
The class itself is not that bad, but his tests are ridiculous! Even if you read the book, study his notes, and study his review you will fail. Don't take him!

I think this Professor has a firm grasp on the subject at hand and does a GREAT job of conveying that to others.
Most challenging class I have ever taken. However, it is possible to do well if you go to class,review ur notes, and scan the book. GOOD LUCK IF U TAKE THIS CLASS...u'll need it!
He's awsome! Sounds like "The Ladies Man" for real so he's funny and makes class interesting. I would definately take him again.
SO HARD! his notes arent clear, he gets sidetracked in class, and his tests- hellish is the word. i studied my ass off and i have a 53 in it, i have to use a grade forgiveness and retake it- w/ another teacher. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! if ur in it- DROP NOW

His exams were an excellent example of what a college test should be like. The class average was not unusually high and that shows that Dr. Gibbs wants to challenge the students to their full potential. I got an A HA HA HA.
Although exams are difficult, Dr Gibbs is extremely thorough. Everything is PP, and he makes his notes available online. HE also puts out study guides. no homework or quizzes, so you gotta do well on tests... passionate about teaching and very funny.
Unhelpful and condescending towards students. Besides difficult to attend office hours, he will emabarass students in class and is un-flexible.
I hated this class, his test are hard. I went to class every tue.and thur., read the book, and studied by ass off. I still got an C-/D, only because of the curve. Don't take this class drop it if want to keep a high GPA
The tests are easy if you listen in class. He is straightforward and clear.
Hard tests
Great teacher! He is very thorough when he goes over the notes. His tests are pretty straightfoward...the study guide that goes with the book is a huge help. It's an easy A as long as you go to all the classes. Pretty funny, too :-)
This class was challenging. The notes were unclear, his lectures were decent but the tests were hard. He asks the same question in different form on the tests.

Most of the class was asleep within 20 minutes of class starting, unless you sat in front for him to embarrass you. Buy the study guide, it helps! The exams are confusing. Save yourself a headache and take this with someone else!
You WILL fall asleep in his class. His notes and study guides are online, but his tests rarely follow the guides. Make sure your grades are correct on WEBCT or you might find out at the end of the semester that your A is now a C.

I found Dr. Gibbs class to be a very hard class. However, Dr. Gibbs really has a good understanding of his subject. I mostly just did the study guide questions and got a B it was almost a B+.
Good teacher, very thorough, can be boring but explains everything very well. I studied his exam review online for the first test (only one i've taken so far) and made an A. He can be funny too. He is the only professor i like this semester.
Lectures like you are 5 years old but then tests like you are an expert on the subject. The notes are nothing like the tests. I heard most people dont get above a C in his class. What an ass.

Stay as far away from this guy as possible! He'll talk to you like 4 year olds and then screw you over on the tests. He also wastes a lot of time reviewing and previewing.
Very difficult class. I did good on the tests when I actually went to the class. He does a good job of explaining the material. All you need to do is go to class and study the work and you should do fine.

His class is very boring because he basically reads right off of the notes that he gives you. His tests are really hard and he does not really curve. The average grade in my class was a low C.

He's a really nice & intelligent man, but this class kicked my butt. No matter how hard I studied, the tests were always so hard. His explainations are really clear, but it is still very hard.
Great teacher! he does just read the notes which he gives online, but how can that be bad? He explains them! just sit and listen, i invested in like a 30 dollar voice recorder, which is the most amazing thing, because u get the lecture all over again!

Do his study guide that he gives for every test. If you dont do good in his class its for one reason, LAZYNESS. He outlines every test, and is a very thorough teacher. Dont be lazy, and you'll be straigh in his class. I would take him again

Forget what the dude with the smiley face says. They seem like one of the suck-up students. Anyways, the test are personalized for each student and they are very hard. Bring a jacket, and don't fall asleep.

I studied very hard for this class and got an "A" I never went to class but I went over the chapters many times before the tests. He drops your lowest so you can mess up on one test. My best friend studied every second that I did and received a

When i studied for the tests i got B's when i didnt i failed. going to class really helps even though he has the outlines online. the optional final was pretty easy and helped me pull a B out of the class.

I don't know why all the dislike for the guy. He is kind of funny and a real nice guy. This is college poeple, you are not going to breeze through it!! Anyways, good teacher, words things clearly and as long as you listen you will do fine.
Class is extremley boring. Notes are already done for you on his website, same with study guides. Test are composed of 2 or 3 chapters at a time. Must come to class to understand what will be on test. Class is ok if you stay awake / nice teacher!!

If you want to fail, withdrawl, or use a grade forgiveness...then take this class. This guy is unbelievably difficult...by far the worst teacher I have had at UCF.
He's funny and a nice guy, very clear teaching. He puts all the notes online and gives study guides for the tests which are helpful. The only problem is that the wording sometimes is a little different on the tests so it makes it a little tricky.
this teacher is so hard. i studied so hard. make sure you read the study guide! but his test are impossible to make an A. be prepared to use a withdrawl. bring a jacket, too. our class was 50-60% failing.
I didn't even buy/look at the book at I got a B+. Now, it was an 89.5 and he didnt round it up, but the class was really not bad at all. Go to class, listen, pay attention and you will be alright. He's a nice guy too.
People say it is impossible to make an A on the tests, but i managed to do it 3 times... It really isnt as hard as people say and he is a nice guy. Not hard if you put forth any effort at all! Take this class!
He makes info seem simple and clear but the tests are worded funny. I squeked by with a C+. He wasn't much help when I went after class to talk to him about an exam, he just told me what I did wrong. I would never take him again if I had a choice.
Dr. Gibbs is the man... he is funny, sort of, and he explains the material pretty clear.. he will stop and explain if someone doesnt understand
Nice guy, Easy to understand, Has review day before each test, lets you out early most days, doesn't take attendence and no homework required. final is optional, if taken drops your lowest grade.

WOW !!! probably the hardest class i have taken freshman year. This guy puts me to sleep everyday, if i dont walk out before hand. Has the most boring lectures possible because he reads right out of his notes. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS !!!

He is a really good teaher and teaches it in a way you can understand it. And he goes over it alot and goes slowly too. He even lowers his expectations on test. So if the average is low, his expectations are lower. His tests aren't bad, if you look at his review sheet and other notes, you will do ok

He gives hard tests but he is a good teacher. He reviews whats on the exams and has a fair grading policy to make up for the fact that test are hard.
GREAT TEACHER!All you have to do is buy his study pack and the exams come exactly from that.if u don't but it, all u have to do is go to class and take notes on his powerpoint slides. SOO EASY and willing to help you!
Not a very easy class, but if you put in the effort to study you'll do fine. Dr. Gibbs is a very good teacher and explains himself well. The study guide is almost essential to pass, it helps a lot. But again, it is not an easy class. If you've never taken ecomomics before, don't take this class.

i have studied my brains out for every test, bought course packs and his study guides and still have not passed one. He is EXTREMELY difficult on the tests and was cocky when i asked him for help. i would never ever recommend this professor.
I only show up for class on test days and i have a b in the class. I study for the tests and they are pretty hard. i would recommend taking a different teacher
Very Hard!Pay attention and if you don't get it go to the sarc lessons they are very helpful. Read all the readings and study at least 2 days before the exam. Find another teacher!!!!!

Avoid him at all cost. Im sorry, but I went to every class,took notes,and read every damn word in the text and still had to withdraw cuz I was failing. His tests are extremely hard and lectures are cruel and unusual and he expects you to know everything about economics.

prof. gibbs is a great teacher and he makes everything sooooo clear! you'll do okay on the tests if you go to class, everything is online, test reviews, chapter outlines and class notes. He really cares about his students and does everything he can to make this confusing/boring subject manageable.
Test are very hard. I got a D in his class and it killed my gpa. only four hard tests determine your grade. No other grade opportunties.
Dr. Gibbs is very straightforward in everything. Go to class, take notes, read book, take notes, study them and take practice test, and you pass just fine. Do not wait till last minute. Final is "optional", which helps if you really bomb a test. It was really not that bad
The Trick to studying for this class is to read the chapter outline/summary in the book. Gives you all the info you'll need and is very good about keeping you upgraded on grades. He is semi-tough, but he's fair.

the only problem with his class is that his tests are the hard multiple choice "put concepts to application" types of questions. other than that, hes a good professor. teaches material very well and does good reviews. this class takes effort, unfortunately
Really helpful andnice- he wants everyone to do well. Tests are a bit tricky, must study thoroughly. Not an impossible class- one of the best teachers for this subject
Great course and professor!! I have no complaints. I took the web course and everything was SO organized and so simple. He is always willing to help you. It's just a matter of logging in and doing your assignments. Every week there is a small homework assignment. Very simple.
Really good guy, and really wants you to perform well but i would suggest to take another teacher.
OK guys micro is not the worlds easiest subject! This is the mixed mode class and he is VERY HELPFUL! Don't complain if you don't do the HW and the work its not easy but he is very helpful and you can pass if you do the HW! If you aint going to work for the grade don't complain!
Gibbs is cool, but micro is just a hard class, lectures were boring but he posts the notes online. Tests were very hard, lots of info to study and questions are worded to make it difficult.
Gibbs is a nice teacher, but taking this class 1 day a week is a huge mistake! i paid UCF to teach myself. Theres a quiz & hw due every week, & I would study for each exam for 2 wks and still fail. I passed with a high D. Do not take this class!

Let's just say this is the only class I ever got below a B in, I got a D. Doesn't help you (even after I went to his office every week), rude, and tests are extremely hard.
If you can take this class in the mixed mode version that is the only way I would recommend it. If you take in the classroom it is very difficult because he only grades 3 tests and his tests are VERRY hard!! But in the mixed mode version of the class you have quizzes and assignments also.

I can't really rate professor gibbs becuase I had the class online. However, the tests are really hard. The assignments from aplia are very difficult and confusing as well. Seems like a nice enough guy but hard class.

He is not the best teacher. Very boring lectures and his tests are actually sorta difficult. Its not that the content is difficult (if you study and read, which I did) but some are worded tricky. If you have the chance to take someone else for micro I would recommend it.
I took this class and I widthdrew after the second test because the class average was a 50% ! The test are personalized with your name and your seat assignment. Take someone else, yet there really aren't too too many good ECO teachers for unergrads to choose from anywayz.
I took this class mixed mode over the summer b/c only class left. A lot of material over the summer. 12 ch's, and had to read them all. Aplia assignments and quizzes drops lowest two, and lowest test grade but not final. Definately not a class you can coast through. Never went to class got a B

Took this one over summer B. A lot to read. If you took algebra I in the 8th or 9th grade you can't possibly not pass this class. It is extremely easy and all you need to do is learn a few definitions for the exams.

I took mixed mode, and didn't really ever go to class because he is boring and likes to use every minute of time. That being said, it is a lot of online work even if you do go to class. Be prepared to pay $60 for Aplia with the online book (and if you want one, buy another book in print). I found that this course isn't really student-friendly.
This calss sucked, very vauge questions, lots of online work, and he only teaches textbook stuff (nothing you will use)
This class blows!!! IT'S REALLY HARD! All the online things suck! Almost everyone in the class fails and he doesn't even care! IT SUCKS!!!
I had him for the mixed class(M)an I only attended class a handful of times. He has notes on webCT that include powerpoints that goes through the graphs that are very helpful. The tests are easy if you go over the self-test in webCT. Make sure that you take quizs and homework grades seriously and you will get an A.

he has got to be the single most boring teacher at ucf. he uses every minute of class time babbling! the online stuff was kinda difficult. you have to be self motivated and stay on task. if you get him, study, study, study, go to SARC, and do all your online work.

I took this class in mixed mode and I was miserable.I went to almost every class. The quizzes and homeworks are so hard! Plus I found that he isn't really available to help unless you try and catch him after class.

The most horrible professor I've had. I've taken four economics courses and had high A's in all, but this course made simple economic principle seem like extremely complex theory; Gibbs' speaking is incoherent, and it is obvious his goal is not to help people learn. The graded questions make no sense and he won't make the smallest effort to explain
A very intellegent professor who has a keen passion for his work and will assist you with your inquiries if you follow his protocols properly.The assignments are important, they reinforce the analytical concepts.The quizzes are vital to understanding the way Gibbs' words his test questions.Course requirements clear from the beginning. Recommended.

I HAD a 3.938 before i got to this class. He says that you should be able to teach yourself most everything and that he is there to explain certain things only. So as a teacher is effectivly useless, you do need to teach yourself, i am fighting for a B and i am a buisness major, NOT Recomended

Horrible. Reviews for the final are just class notes already covered and compiled. Quizes are 12min for 10q, T&F. Tests are worded kinda tricky.
He is a pretty good teacher but you have to work for your grade. HIs class is half online so if you can't motivate yourself to do your work on your own then dont take his class. The assignments and quizzes are pretty easy but the tests are difficult. He lets you drop your lowest quiz score and lowest assignment grade.
Never had such a problem with economics ever. His tests are very difficult and pointless. The quizzes are horrible and so are the assignments. Stay away from this class if you can!

Tests are very hard, 60 questions, no real way to prepare for them. Get a study group if you have him, its the only way I was able to pull out some semi decent grades. Don't take if you have a life to attend to; such as a job or children. You will not surface for 4 months. I studied, I did all of the assigments, self tests, etc., etc. The tests are worded to confuse and VERY difficult to study for. Even if you use all of the resources, its very difficult to earn a decent grade in this class.

TERRIBLE CLASS! I am an A student who did his work in this class, and prepared well for the tests. My final grade was a C! His exams were very very tricky. You predict you will do well, but you don't. His final was especally tricky. Not to mention he is just a rude guy. FIND A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR!

All you have to do to get an A is study the questions for a couple hours before the exam. Explains stuff wonderfully in class. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! He'll give you the notes online, then his lectures have nothing to do with the notes. He tells you what is on the exam, then what you study isn't on the exam. He is extremley unclear and is rude to students. He has no care for what students say and has even deleted posts on WEBct for no reason. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
I dont know where these rating are coming from! I took his completely online class and it is one of the easiest classes i have ever taken. All you have to do is read the book a little and do the practice quizzes and you are set for the tests and stuff. It took me 2 hours a week and i aced it with like a 97. Totally easy class...at least online.

Aplia assignments are easy you have a week to figure it out using the book. The quizzes are the same way, prepare some notes then sit down and take the quiz. The exams are also on webct also. He uses a test bank of 10,000 or so questions and the computer randomly choose which ones for the exam. Get a group & go over the quiz. 40% are the same ones

While the material can be challenging to learn, I must be fair to the professor in saying that he does make the course manageable. If you study your quizzes, notes, and self tests, you'll do fine on his tests. He drops the two lowest assignment and quiz grades and counts the final twice to replace your lowest exam grade.
I took the online course, which I do not suggest to anyone else. At least take this class as a hybrid, thats my advice. Anything that includes math requires some sort of teacher student interaction. I am an A student, but earned a C. He is very fair in grading, drops 2 lowest test & assignment. Questions on midterm/final intentionally tricky.
I took the mixed mode class, and I think I went to the actuall class meetings like once. While he is very knowledgable, his lecture style put me to sleep. His online content was great, easy to do, and his test where exactly what he said they would be. If you have the discpline to do the work on your on, he is the guy to take.
this guy was horrible. he made a very interesting subject very boring. waste of time and money. find a better professor. he has no real world experience. he is just a career professor but does not teach. nobody gets anything out of his class.
This class was pretty easy and teh professor was really nice. You do not need to go to class at all. Just take the tests in the testing center. All of the assignments are online and are fairly easy. Kind of hard to get an A, easy to get a B. If your the type of person that would rather teach yourself and hates going to class. awesome class
Confusing is a one word description of his class. His lectures are rather good and you begin to understand somewhat. Lectures right off internet notes though. Tests are super hard...
He was the worst teacher I have ever had.
I took this class online and it was very reasonable. Quizzes and tests were not aimed to trick. You have to take the midterm and the final on campus. There are twelve chapters to quiz and do Aplia for, but the lowest two on each are dropped. Dr. Gibbs seemed to really care, always responding to discussions and e-mails quickly. Very Recommended

I had him for the mixed mode class and I didn't have a hard time. Just keep up with your reading, quizzes, and the aplia thing and you'll get a B. He drops the lowest quiz score, apllia score, and switches your final exam score with your lowest test score!
I went to class the first 2 times, and never went again. It's pretty pointless. Everything he says in class is word for word on his powerpoints on the internet. Do the quizzes and assignments ahead of time. Don't leave it for last minute. The class is pretty hard if you don't care about it & review all the quizzes before the test. its really helpful.
I HIGHLY recommend this teacher if you're a good self teacher and/or learner. You must be committed to your studies if you want to pass this class. I won't lie, the class was REALLY easy but then again it might be because I actually took the time to read the book. I got A's on all the assignments, quizzes, and tests that I actually studied for.
Great teacher! I was horrible in economics in high school and did fine. Its hard but he knows economics and does a decent job.
Not the greatest teacher. If you can devote a lot of time to a class and teach everything to yourself, take Gibbs, but if you need explanations and even just to talk to your teacher this is not the one.
Prof Gibbs is Awesome! If you go to class, you will save yourself Hours of reading, and trying to comprehend the confusing book. He's very clear and easy to understand, as long as you pay attention and don't play on facebook during class!
I took this class online. Not only was it very easy, but I also felt that it was very informative (everything you should expect to learn from an intro to microeconomics class). The few times I had to contact Dr. Gibbs, he was very courteous and helpful. He posts amazingly helpful, clear and concise notes on WebCT. I highly recommend this professor.
Class isnt entirely easy, but much easier if you care and if you attend. He uses comedic examples frequently, and although the information is on his PowerPoints, you still need to pay attention to what he says. I'd definitely take his class again if I had the chance
Power points are directly from the book. The class is very easy and therein lies the problem. When classes are this easy, why go? I have attended less than half of the classes and have an A. Gibbs will drop the lowest test grade this semester, because others in the class are pressuring him. Labor is a basic econ course, others are more fun!
Easy course. Do well in his online practice quiz and you are just about guaranteed a good score on the tests (Some of the questions are exactly the same).
This class should not be this difficult. Being a "Gen Ed" it should be only somewhat challenging at best. Instead the feedback is minimal, meaning you really don't know what you're doing right or wrong. Dr. Gibbs is rude and does not care what you get, AVOID THIS TEACHER AT ALL COST!
Dr. Gibbs is an okay teacher. Economics can be callenging so you really need to read and not be lazy in this class. If you dont try..dont expect a good grade. going to class is pretty pointless considering he is not the best teacher and that all the slides are online.class would have been easier if he gave reviews like he did on the final.
I took this class online, not the best decision if you don't really understand econ. He doesn't give busy work, just weekly quizzes and homework. He cares about your grade and is able to help you, as long as you ask. Pretty good econ teacher compared to others at UCF.
Took his mix mode class and it was not so bad. You will have to read the book to understand the material or you will fail simple as that. He will use your final grade to replace a test grade if you did bad on one. Overall not so hard if you know your econ and read. I did bad on my final but ended up with a 90% A lol. Do not expect a curve from him.
Only good thing is that is very clear in his lectures. Class was long and boring. Quizzes and exams are taken online, which sucked because the webct quizzes and tests did not show the correct answers for future reference.
Mr. Gibbs seems like a very nice man and he tries to tell funny jokes which is amusing. Class was kind of long, but as long as you read the book, and study for the tests you will get an A or B
Gibbs is one of the 1st professors I've had at UCF and I hope there are more like him. He goes slowly and explains everything great. He explains in a way you'll understand and know forever, not just to memorize. The tests are difficult but easier with him than with any other professor. Great! Take him!
Good guy. He is there is you need help, but is not too involved with the students (at least in Labor Eco). Expectations were clear. Class wasn't mandatory if you read the slides and hit the main points in the book.
I never went to class and escaped with a C. Keep up with weekly assignments/aplia online quizzes so you don't have to cram for the final. Don't take this class unless it is mandatory you take microeconomics - if you can substitute macro I would do that instead. The content is pretty boring and isn't easy to make interesting.
He is my least favorite professor in years. Class was easy, but I hated it. He didn't even have good grammar. How am I supposed to respect a prof that doesn't even know how to put a sentence together. His test questions were generally confusing, and often had bad grammar too. Avoid him to avoid frustration.
Dont take this guy. No hes not mean, or boring its just his test dont make sense. The subject of economics is realtivly easy. Dr. Gibbs just makes it harder. He'll ask you the same questoin 10 diffrent ways with numberious errors needs to take english over. Not mean teacher very fair just dont take him if you can get someone else.
I ended up with a 90.6 in the class. I think he's very fair with his hw and tests. It is a relatively hard subject for some people, but I think overall he does a pretty good job.
Not an extremely easy class, weekly assignment and quiz do online and the tests are pretty confusing. I studied a lot for this class and pulled out a B. I'd recommend it if you realize you know you will study, if not you'll be really lucky to pass.
I liked this teacher. I had a horrible time in Macro, and I was nervous about Micro. I found Dr. Gibbs to be clear, and easy to understand. You do need to study for his class, however his tests are not that confusing. He gives great examples that really help you understand the material.
Micro is my struggle and i barely pass his class with a 70.8. He's by far one of the best teachers of the subject but economics is def not my forte. If your good at it, this class should be pretty easy. If your not good at it, take him and hope for the best like i did.
great teacher easy quiz's and homework you take all quizzes at home and take test in testing lab. When you have test there is no test that week it great

material is not exactly easy but he goes pretty slow to make sure we comprehend it. 4 exams + homework & quizzes. exams aren't really hard at all. i stopped going to class the last month & still got an 88 on the final. not a bad class
Took him for micro and thought he was an ok teacher. He is rather clear and tries to make sure that you understand all concepts. But the tests and quizzes are very hard and confusing. It is important you come to class and take notes or else it will hurt you. Overall, he's a good guy and an A is not impossible, but it isn't likely either
Dr. Gibbs is a very nice man. He goes over the information slowly and clearly, but the quizzes and tests can be hard if you don't go to class and take notes. He also drops the two lowest quiz scores and the two lowest homework scores. He is one of the better economics teachers.
Very good professor; will be very respectful to you if you're respectful to him. Be sure to take really good notes; you should get good grades on exams, HWs, and quizzes. He'll drop 2 of lowest quiz grades & of lowest HW grades. If final exam's higher than lowest exam grade, the low grade's dropped and count the final twice.
Labor economics is an extremely easy class for economics majors, especially if you took intermediate price theory. It's an easy A for sure. Dr. Gibbs is a very easy going professor and you will do fine as long as you attend the lectures or read the book and do the assignments.
Not hard to get a B, but he puts hard questions on the test so if you want an A you really need to know the material. Quizzes aren't hard if you go to class and read the notes online. you have to work for an a but it is definently duable.
MicroEconomics: You do not need to go to class for courses that are on Webcourses. Sleep in, take your time, but go through the MODULES. READ the powerpoints in the modules, this is key to understanding the material. The modules are straight forward. Aplia also helps reinforce the material. If you do well in aplia, you will do well on exams.
Good professor. Study the modules they will really help you on the test. Going to class helps a lot he is a good teacher and explains the concepts well. Study the quizzes also to prepare for the exam, he releases the answers after you take them. Getting a B is feasible but you will really have to work for an A
Attendance not necessary. Thoroughly study the modules online and understand the graphs. Weekly quizzes and homeworks were annoying but were definitely useful in studying for the exams and the final. I studied previous quizzes and the study guide (learning modules) online for the final and got an A on it. Class is a waste of time but modules help!
Going to class is useless because the professor is just bad at teaching an already boring subject. However this class can be passed. Modules on webcourses help tremendously. It is basically a teach yourself course. Buy the textbook. Weekly quizzes and assignments are tiresome but keep you from procrastinating in learning the material.
Mr. Gibbs is a sweetie and is very easy to understand. You need the book to access the online homework. The hw is unrelated to the quizzes but it does help you actually understand/apply the material. Quizzes are easy if you read his online modules and take his practice quizzes. I have an A and I study for an hour the night before tests. Take him.
Honestly, you do not need the textbook. Just attend class and do the aplia assignments and you should do fine with the tests. He may not be very entertaining but he knows his stuff.
Great professor, very thorough willing to help you took it over the summer so it was condensed but I highly recommend just review his module quizzes and practice quizzes to help prepare you for exams. Overall good professor take gibbs!
MicroEcon; Summer B 2014. Although he can be a little boring with lectures (slow monotone voice), he gives you most of the material you need for the course & it explains it pretty well. You HAVE to purchase Aplia ($95-120, I think it was), which does not help with the tests, sadly. Attend his exam review days, read textbook & study notes.
He is easy to understand. Textbook free with access code. Exercises on the study plan andor problem set were a little complicated for me sometimes. Make sure you ask him questions you may have during class. Another good option is to get help from T.A. She is really helpful.
Dr. Gibbs is an amazing professor, I had him for micro and I got a B and I have him now for quant, very informative, clear and explains everything to the T and provides you with lots of examples. it is impossible to fail this class if you practice his examples and he lets you use a notecard on all exams and finals. I highly recommend Dr. Gibbs.
He is a really great teacher who gets a bad reputation by teaching hard classes. He really cares about his students and is always willing to help you out. It's a tough class and he does a good job of helping you out.
I took him for Quant tools which was a rough topic to teach. He did a pretty good job. I would recommend going to class if you have him for a lecture capture, I think that was my biggest mistake. Assignments once a week and 4 test. He counted the exam as double and drops your lowest so that helps. The class is hard in itself, he does a decent job.
Mr. Gibbs is so much more than just an instructor. He is very encouraging and also is good to give someone a pep talk. I am currently in his class for Dosage and he also teaches skills and he is so entertaining! Class is never a drag and having fun is the best way to learn!
get 100 on all homework, and very easy to pass. Gives notecard, very nice. first test very easy! harder from there but an easy B with little work, and A with a decent amount.
I only watched the test review lectures; he is very stiff and monotonous, but the material is so simple that I didn't see a need to watch two 2.5 hour lectures a week. There's weekly hw on mathlab, and I used that to teach myself the material. Tests were easy with the note card we got to make. Straightforward grading. Final can replace lowest test.
Dr Gibbs is monotonous but I think he does an excellent job of teaching pretty dry topic. He is very clear in his lectures- giving a definition and then at least one, but often times several examples to help you understand. The homework is pretty straight forward and the tests are easy enough, as he lets you have a notecard for all formulas!
I have always been an A student and I really struggle in his class. He is very dry and doesn't prepare you for the tests in his lectures. The best grade I got on a test is when I taught myself the material so that's what I recommend. Twice I studied what he taught and received a C & a D. I got an A when I taught myself. Makes you want to dropout
After the first half of the semester, I stopped watching the live lectures. It was clearer learning the material from the homework help than from his teaching. He is extremely monotone which doesn't help. He seems to take up more time teaching the easier concepts and then has to rush through the more complex because he is running out of time.
His lectures are very dry and he reads straight from his notes. If you ask him a question not on his notes, he won't know the answer. It is easier to just teach yourself the material. Just make sure to do the pearson math lab homework, he drops the two lowest. Also he allows you to bring in one note card for the exam.
His lectures are very boring! He have 3 test and 1 final. The final can replace one test grade. A handful of homework through mathlab which are pretty easy. Allows you to bring a notecard for each test and a whole sheet of paper for the finals. Definitely an easy A if you put some effort into the course.
OK guys listen to me, this class is a joke. I haven't gone to his lectures in weeks and my final grade in his class was a 97. Literally just understand the homework from MyMathLab and you will get an A. The lectures are pointless.
This class is really easy. If you do the weekly homework you should pass every exam. Expect a lot of calculus.
I have always being an "A" student. Took this class on graduating semester and now I an having to repeat it because of a missed test due to medical reasons (with proof) he stated that he has a "no make up policy" no matter what . Lectures are extremely boring. No extra credit. Be ready to teach yourself the material. Will not recommend.
The class is pretty boring but he is very nice. The class was pretty easy and consisted of mostly calculus. There's weekly homework, but it is usually very easy.
Great professor, is very clear on work formulas and what will be on tests. Very helpful, great guy.
Extremely easy course. The professor talks so slowly that you might want to watch the recorded lecture on 1.5x speed for it to even sound normal. Don't count on learning anything from the lectures though because the way he teaches the class it's like he's reading examples out of a textbook for an hour and a half.
If you do the work, you will get an A. Gibb's powerpoints are really clear. He lets you bring a notecard to every exam. He has lots of examples during class, which is obviously helpful. The only downside is that he talks very slowly, but with a lecture capture class, I can just fast forward. Would definitely recommend Gibbs for Quant I.

Nice guy. He does everything slowly, step by step. Which to say, can be too slow sometimes. Class is pretty boring though. Allows notecards on exams and a full paper for the final.
This class was very easy. I received a B without ever watching a single lecture. The first two exams were an absolute joke and required very little algebra knowledge. The third exam and final exam both include some simple calculus but it is manageable. The homework is necessary and utilizing the examples on the homework helped a lot.
Fair grader. Test are pretty easy compared to the examples given in class and on the homework. No extra credit.
The professor's presentations are great. I ended his class with nearly a perfect A+ class score which is the result of his teachings, and the homework/exam practice. I really did not once go into the textbook. Everything was learned from him and the homework website. I would definitely recommend this professor as he teaches and doesn't waste time.
He posts what will be on the exam in several places, and keeps about half off of each one. So, to do amazing on the exams, you should write down ALL the formulas for each question on the MML practice exam and the review sheet on webcourses. You get a notecard for each exam, and a full paper for the final. No E/C or curves.
A really good professor who cares about his students. He usually goes VERY slow, I watched lectures online instead of going in person and I always watched at x1.5 speed. You get a notecard for exams and a whole piece of paper for the final, and exams are not difficult. If you do your work and pay attention it's an easy A.
Methodical teacher, but very slow paced and with a droll voice. Stopped going to lectures or watching the online videos he posts from the lessons, mostly because the work load isn't too challenging. Easy A.
Watch lectures on 1.75 speed! He is the slowest talking person ever. The class itself was simple with a very clear grading rubric. The majority of the class is tests; the final will replace your lowest test grade. If you feel remotely comfortable with math, this class will be a walk in the park. You get a note card for each test.
Easy class if you have a solid understanding of high school math and some basic calculus. Watch one live capture lecture and gave up and never watched another lecture for the rest of the year. Ended the class with an easy 98%.
I came into this class with a solid understanding of calculus and stats from high school and it helped me BREEZE through this class. I must admit, having the tests worth 86% of the course grade was a bit harsh, but if you can understand calc and stats easily, there should be no problem. Study groups help a lot too! Ended up with a 95% in the class.
This class is incredibly easy if you have a basic understanding of calc and stats; if you don't then not so much. Luckily I did and finished with a 98 without watching the lectures.
This class was super simple if you come into it with pre-existing knowledge of Stat and Calc. I ended the class with a 99.5. You get to bring a notecard to each exam and all exams are pretty straightforward. I do recommend watching on 2x speed though because he is quite possible the slowest talker I've ever seen. Other than that, great class!
The reduced class was difficult. 5 meeting times during the semester but my group only had 4 and with Hurricane Irma it was reduced to 3. Without those days it was difficult to work with your group. and my group didn't know what we were doing when we got together. some TAs are helpful and other condecending. tedious but easy to get an A
Honestly, this class wasn't bad at all. It was a little confusing only going to class 5 times a semester, but with all the extra credit he offers at the end of the semester, you should be able to get the grade desired. I made an A without watching any of the lectures, but I did already have an understanding of Calculus and Stats.
Class questions are nothing like the hw or notes. I had to google different textbooks because his has very few business applications. TAs took grading way too seriously. For online lectures, speed them up x2. He talks very slow, and is repetitive. Allowed notecard for 3 tests and 11x8 sheet of paper front and back for final (3 hrs to complete.)
I think professor Gibbs is a nice guy, but this class was huge and his TA's were not helpful and condescending. I went and got a tutor to help me becuase of that. I will warn you that this is a class were you need to teach yourself. Get help early in the semester and I think a B is doable. Just don't expect help from the teacher/TA.
He lacks the skills to teach at a collegiate level. The style of teaching he provides is useless. In the "Modules" portion of the class he only explains the initial topic, but lacks to teach more in depth. He speaks to students like 1st graders and cant comprehend questions. Unclear, quiet, his test don't match his teaching, UCF please fire him!
Gibbs is a pretty solid professor. Yeah, his lectures are SLOW but they are comprehensive and helpful for all different styles of learners. Also, a pretty easy class with easy homework and easy tests.
He was nice, but the in-class activities are very hard and you don't get much help on them. Since it's in the REAL format, you get very little face time with him and during the class you're just working on a quiz. The content isn't impossible if you put a little time in, but it's not the easiest either.
Exams are easy, just do the practice exams on MyMathLab. the in class activities can be difficult, and can certainly swing your grade, so watch the videos before meet ups!

His teaching skills are mediocre, and not college level. He doesn't lecture during class. All his lectures are posted on Webcourses. This class is very challenging. You have to teach yourself concepts from Calculus. I made the mistake of taking this class without taking Calculus in advance. Tests are a heavy part of the grade (210 points each).
Worst class I ever took. Teacher didn't do actual lectures in class. All the lectures are recorded in webcourses. You won't pass without attending the active learning labs. He lacks the skills to teach at a college level. UCF please fire him!
This class is test heavy (roughly 68% of your grade total). He's a slow talker but if you take the class online or REAL capture you can speed up the videos and he'll sound like a regular person. When you ask for help he won't actually help just point you in the general right direction. DON'T GET LESS THAN A C ON 2+ TESTS OR YOU WILL FAIL Also CALC
Class is really easy if you have math experience. If you don't, go through all of the homework and understand how to do EACH problem. Number crunching is a big thing in this class so make sure you don't lose easy points by typing in stuff wrong to your calculator. Modules aren't necessary if you understand the homework. Funny, but avg prof.

Beware that his videos you can watch in 2x Speed. This class is a REAL format. Class is simple, watch the videos, do the homework and watch out for test guide. Discussion Post can help you out with your grade (be aware of deadlines) He drops the lowest test grade and replaces it with your final. He drops 2 hw set. Final is cumulative. (4 tests)

For someone that needs this class for their major -- it's great. Easy A. He gives you everything that you need to study, and as long as you study it you'll do great. Now, if I was super passionate about labor economics and wanted to learn it in-depth, I'd be slightly disappointed with this class. Fortunately that isn't the case!
Have never met a less qualified professor in my life. I know this might seem a bit harsh but his monotone, flat, dispassionate tone in every lecture makes in near impossible to get through as it's utterly obvious he doesn't want to be teaching. Very unhelpful in person as well as he will only direct you back to study sheets. If you can avoid DO SO!
Gibbs is an alright professor. Get ready to watch his videos at 2x speed since he's very monotone and talks slow. Aside from that he provides all the materials needed to do good in the course. As long as you take notes, do the homework, and do the practice exams he gives, you should be well prepared. He doesn't try to "trick you" on those at all.

Great professor and really makes the test exactly like the test prep. There are no tricks questions or stuff we had not learned on the test. Everything is straight forward.
Dr. Gibbs is a very nice guy, but be glad this class is REAL format because his lectures need to be on 2x speed (something he jokes about). He lays out the course content incredibly well, and I've always struggled in math so I believe his explanations in his videos were a huge component of my success. This class is a mix of algebra, statistics, and calculus all for business. He lets you take exam cards into the exams, but they still are extremely difficult with the formulas written down. He talks so slowly, I have to watch all the videos at 2x speed. He's not very helpful on tests either, and the in-class stuff is left up to you and your group.
Not passionate, not loud, not engaging at all. Most of his work is done by the TA's, his classes have been recorded and are online, class was only to take quizzes. He seems tired like he has no passion. Slides are pretty bad too. Get ready to learn via MathLab.
Not even a difficult class especially if your strong suit is math. Professor was pretty bad and monotone for a math class. His lecture videos were brutal make sure to speed at least 1.25x.
He/TAs are really slow with grading the ALLs. The ALLs are the only things that can bring down your grade. If you watch the videos (at 1.5 speed lol) and do the examples the exams aren't hard. The homework is easy because you get 3 chances per problem. Don't really need the textbook.
Class is an easy A. The professor is nice, but his sessions and videos will put you to bed. The tests are incredibly easy. The ALL sessions are the only thing that can bring your grade down so try hard from the start. Take him if you want the easy A. If you want to learn then find someone else
This class was pretty easy as long as you watch his lecture videos. The exams in his class are basically the practice exams with the numbers switched. Mr Gibbs cares for his student and will round up your grade if you are very close the next letter grade!
Teaching style is slow but gives you time to let the concepts sink in. Videos are helpful. Assignments are fair & worthwhile. Too strict tho. Doesn't drop or give make ups for any circumstance at all--it's covid shutdown, he sets tests/HW in mid-day during thunderstorm, if power goes out and knocks your internet, too bad so sad.
I took this course online due to COVID-19. HUGE mistake. This professor was ill prepared and unwilling to assist, referring to the TA's. Lectures, which were pre-recorded, were very boring and slow. He reads from the slides given by MyMathLab. Get ready to teach yourself when taking this online class. I should've waited to take this class in person
I managed to get through this course without listening to his video lectures and solely using the posted notes; however, if you cannot learn the information from power point slides alone I would steer clear. While Dr. Gibbs seems to be a very nice guy, he WILL make you fall asleep. I'd love to hear him narrate an audio book though.
I was supposed to take this class in person but because of COVID-19 I had to take it online. I, personally, suggest that if you are good at math, take it online and over summer. His videos are great but slow, so online you can watch them at 1.5x speed. The group assignments for this class went better than other REAL classes I've taken.
Don't take this class on campus. Online students get a better experience with the class because all his lectures are uploaded online. But if you take his on campus class, he doesn't teach. All the lessons are uploaded online. Students are forced to look up the information online ever since UCF adopted the REAL format. He also records the class.
He may come off as boring but he is very informative and helpful with his lectures.
Probably one of the worst online professors.. Material is all over the place and he locks out questions on mathlab after 3 attempts. If you want to learn from the text book and read and not be taught anything by all means take this class. However if you learn from mistakes and like using mathlab to learn forget it. No partial credit on questions.
Absolutely awful class, the only upside to taking this course online was that you can watch his lectures at 1.5X speed. If you don't need to take him for a necessary grade, I would not recommend his class. The homework system is a joke, you only get 3 attempts and lose points if you're not correct on the first try. Just all around awful!
He explains so clearly and canvas is organized clearly. Everything you get tested on, he has taught an example on so its nearly impossible to not know what you are doing. HW is not hard, tests not hard: there are no curve ball or tricky questions. Discussions/team exercises are easy because he pin points exactly what we need to know for them. 10/10
The way he explains all topics is superb; very clear/concise. All test problems are the exact same as problems taught in class, just different #s; so easy A for sure. No tricky questions. HW easy. Everyone saying he is bad are likely the ones who found the material in general hard, regardless of which professor taught them. So don't listen to them.
So many videos, so many lectures, I took this class during the COVID online semester, and every week I had so many videos to catch up on so I can teach myself this class. It'sa business math class, not too hard but its math-heavy, and he gets into Calculus for the last few modules. Only 4 exams, homework assignments, quizess, and group discussions.
Online class, put 2x speed on lectures, EZ pass. Reading other comments I would've got an A if I watched all the lectures where he talks about what to know for the Business Exercise Assignments that kind of dropped my grade a bit lol. Overall super easy course, would recommend if needed.
Horrible professor, rude, and doesn't care about the students. He can't even offer a greeting when he replies to an email and appears to be very high on himself. He does not provide enough time on exams. Would hate to take this professor again; unfortunately UCF doesn't have much options for choosing professors.
Did not adapt well to the online style of classes. Leans heavily on the Lock down Browser to restrict test taking and is very unforgiving for testing windows. The material is basic ECO topics and I have been able to get good grades with just the notes her privides, no textbook. If you are taking the class online/remote, I suggest looking elsewhere.
Prof Gibbs is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. Especially during COVID. He doesn't care about his students and he has unrealistic expectations. lecture, quiz AND assignment in one class. Unreceptive to student feedback. No extra credit or make up assignments. SUPER BORING lectures. No use of modern teaching technology. Just awful.
Very monotonous lectures, almost no online resources and everything in his online class page is outdated or unuseful. I learned nothing from him, anything I learned as a result of taking his class was all due to pearson or my own personal research on youtube and google. I wish UCF would hire someone else to teach this course.
Just go to class/watch the lectures. I took this during COVID and it was single-handedly one of the easiest class I've taken. Not sure how it was before COVID, but he had us do team exercises every other week but they're simple and you can have your teammates help you. Slow and long lectures but they're good ones & you can just put them on 2X speed
Took this online due to COVID, super easy class. Some of the concepts were a little difficult, but once you do the homework everything is cake from there. Teacher himself was a little monotonous but overall a good class. This is how Business math courses should be set up.
Class is pretty simple - all quizzes/tests are completely based on lectures and homework, so if you do those, you should be fine. Professor is monotonous but if you speed up the lectures it's not that bad. Tests are easy but sometimes feels as if there is not enough time, just pace yourself. If you put in the work, it should be an easy A course.
The class is incredibly disorganized. Gibbs is boring, he explains the material decently, but he talks at 0.5 speed. Luckily, the class is an easy A, otherwise, you would be in trouble with this guy teaching.

This professor doesn't give lectures and hasn't shown up to class once. The only way to understand material is to watch his old videos from where he talks at 0.5 speed.
Awful teacher, does not actually teach simply just makes you watch videos and then test in person.
I don't know if anyone else has experienced this but I have not seen or heard from this professor all semester. I have emailed him about multiple issues I've had on homework and I only get responses from his TA's. Would have liked to have had more communication with the person in charge of teaching and grading my work. I have never been a D student
There are no lectures and you have to learn everything from videos. The TA's run the class. The TA's that are available during office hours are no help and just try to get you off the zoom call. You teach yourself everything in this class. The exams probably would not be that hard if we actually had lectures and were able to ask questions.
Professor did not show up a single time the semester. You are given a set of lectures to teach yourself concepts of algebra, as well as calculus. VERY HARD! Do not recommend taking if you have the option.
Doesnt care about his students. He makes the class beyond hard and could care less to help. The class was a complete waste and if you can avoid it.
Its been two classes and still no sign of This professor. Also, the group assignments are just a way for you to fail. Everyone works at a different pace, too much commotion/loud talking for people to actually focus, and not everyone puts the same amount of effort. It wouldnt be so bad if the group assignments were individual and not worth so much
Save yourself. Never seen this man in my life and I've been to every class. If this class is thought by ANY other professor just go with them for your own sanity. I passed but that was not without giving up my whole life teaching myself the criteria and drowning in this awful class setup. Literally change your major Idk what to tell u. save urself.

The absolute worst professor I've ever had. Never attended class once and made it extremely difficult to learn and pass the class. Required mastery of a number of concepts in an extremely small time period. Make yourself comfortable with google and khan academy because those are your real teachers.
Nice professor but his lectures are long and the tests are not like the lectures
I don't think I have or ever will have a more terrible professor again in my life. He didn't show up to a single class, and relied on his TAs and substitute to "teach" a class of 200+ kids that all had different problem sets to work on. I am a really good student but I have to retake this class. I am getting into my major a semester late now.
Class only met a couple of times in person. TAs are present during in-person classes, but Professor Gibbs replied quickly when contacted through email. Tests are weighed super heavy, but Professor Gibbs had a different way he calculates grades, I did well on assignments and hw and not super well on the tests and still passed the class.
