HE IS THE WORST PROFESSOR EVERRRRRRR!!!! Literally reads the power point, super unclear, you will fall asleep. My whole entire class is lost. Don't take him!
First semester teaching and doesn't know how to make it fun. Attendance isn't in the syllabus. Unclear what he wants in hmwrk, confusing. VERY BORING! Loves the word "again".. literally said it 235 times in a 75 min period (Yes, I counted). Doesn't stay on slides long enough to take notes, most just fall asleep, text, or doodle. TAKE ANOTHER PROF!!
Very helpful, always responds to emails and very approachable. Notes are a bit boring but interesting material makes up for it
His lectures are incredibly boring, and he reads from black and white lecture slides. He is completely monotone, and seems bored with class and lectures. His expectations are pretty unclear, and going to class is a waste of time because he posts his lectures online. Take another professor if you want any kind of interest or excitement at all.
Currently taking the class, Instructor is very unclear. Went to the office hours to receive help, and walked out with an unclear answer. His lectures are from Power-point, and he reads directly from them. His notes are posted online, and there does not seem to be a point in going to class as attendance is not being taken. I recommend not ta
Attendance is not a requirement. Which is great because I never went to the lectures! Very boring and as long as you read the chapters from the book, you should do fine. Passed with an A- and never even attended class. HW assignments are easy and so are the enrichment activities. But Professor Park is BORING and very monotone. Not very helpful.
The teacher seemed really nice, but his lectures are really boring and I don't feel like I learned a lot from having him as a teacher. He read right off of the powerpoints. I don't recommend this teacher.
This was a very important class that I needed to take, so far he is ruining any chance of me getting a good grade. He is not clear and I go away from class confused every day. His powerpoints have nothing to do with the textbook at all. Terrible teacher!
Dr. Park demands more, and it is your decision whether to learn or fail. Very helpful and friendly with prompt email feedback. I think the other reviews here are written by lazy or apathetic personality types.
He's a nice person, but teaching is not his thing! The subject isn't that exciting to start, but with his monotone voice and always saying "again," just makes this class brutal. If you have something to say to the contrary of what he thinks/ says, he won't be apathetic. Like if you try to explain your answer on an exam.
Nice guy, but his lectures are REALLY boring because of his monotone voice. He speaks in one long sentence and says "and so forth," and "again," a lot. I don't think teaching is exactly his calling, although he is very knowledgeable.
Dr. Park definitely knows what he is talking about. I would recommend him if you're naturally interested in the topic covered, because despite the interesting content, his lectures aren't necessarily thrilling. His office hours are useful. Definitely read the book! Content will be on exams; luckily the book is well written.
listen to everyone else! I thought people were just complaining when I took this class. However, it is the worst professor I have ever had. I have over 90 credits and have never felt with such a horrible professor that thinks so highly of himself. I also have a 3.832 and got a c in his class.
3 tests that cover assigned articles and chapters from the book, research paper, oral presentation, and textbook/article readings. Must read all content to do well in this course. Also must strictly follow APA format in research paper (not an easy grader). Classes are very boring and monotone, while he presents a Power Point.
Park isn't a bad guy, his lectures are just not very relevant to his tests. I never ever came to class and got almost a perfect grade (98%) in the class. Just read your book and know how to write a paper and you'll be fine. He also offers extra credit. If you are a college level student, there's no reason you can't handle this class.
He was the worst teacher I have ever had! I'm going into my senior year and most teachers let you know what they want he did not. He checked our final class paper topic about a month into class and a week before they were due he told someone in the class they had to redo their whole paper. He doesn't give test back when he reviews the answers.
Professor Park is arguably not the most exciting lecturer, but his lectures are very interesting, clear, and fascinating - you will learn psychology. Some teachers use powerpoints have way too much text, and literally just read it, however Prof Park has pictures, and videos that are relevant and he actually lectures. Go to his office hours and read
Park is not a very interesting/enthusiastic lecturer and is repetitive. However, he is effective and helpful in office hours. Read the book, do the practice questions he provides on BB, and be somewhat mentally present in class for an A. You will learn the material in his class.
I hated his class! He makes you read SO much material and doesn't give you much to prep for the tests besides telling you to have read the chapters and he has some practice questions online. 4 pop quizzes, 2 assignments, 4 cognitive assessments, and 3 exams. He also gets white spit balls form on the sides of his mouth which is gross and distracting
He really knows alot about this subject. but he is very monotone and his lectures feel long. HE assaigns alot of reading but i did well by just taking notes in the lectures and reading the chapter summaries in the back of the book.
He gets bad reviews but I him.I read and re-read each chapter and I would highly recommend doing the same. His exams aren't hard if you read the book well. His class is boring and sometimes I wondered if what he was talking about was relevant and sometimes it wasn't. He's really helpful if you go to office hours.
His lectures seem unclear and he just reads off powerpoints that are very bland. He does not prepare you well for tests or let you know what will be on. I read the chapters and studied and still did not do well. Don't take him if you want a good grade.
The class was insanely easy. Halfway through the semester I stopped showing up, read the book, and got an A on everything. Going to class was literally the biggest waste of time in my entire life. The lectures are dull and greatly irrelevant and I didn't feel like I learned anything and didn't feel prepared for PSY 400 at all.
Hated this class. His lectures are boring and monotone. Only way to truly be ready for the tests is to read and re-read all the chapters. If you can switch professors do it and get out while you can!!!!
Super dry and monotone professor. It was hard to stay awake during his lectures. He also babbles about stuff that isn't even relevant to what the book covers. Even when I have went to his office hours he didn't answer my questions at all. Sometimes I questioned if he even knew what he was talking about. All in all, reading is the only way to pass.
He's Very monotone but if you read the LONG chapters you'll pass
No feedback. No Study guides. Thinks he is above all of his students. Does not take the time to clearly explain what information to focus on for the exams. Does not explain that the enrichment activities must be done by December 2 or whenever. His lectures are not based on anything that will be on the test.
He has dulled my love for psychology. His lectures are boring and pointless because it is nothing you are tested on. As long as you read the chapters you would do fine on the exams and not even need to go to class. He would just ramble on and on and if a question was asked you never really got a straight forward answer.
Boring and irrelevant lectures. Not helpful at all. Thinks he's above everyone else. Read the chapters or you won't easily pass the exams.
Does not give clear instructions for his papers. They are found over pages and pages of his powerpoints, but are not concise. If you want to get a clearish sense of what he's looking for, then meet during office hours. Otherwise look for a professor who is clearer in his instructions. I normally perform well, but am struggling to meet expectations
I don't understand why his rate on here is so low, he is honestly not a bad professor Yes he could make the class a little more interesting but if you go through the book and look for the bolded words and go to class you will get an A or B on the exams. The homework assignments are super easy too. He is very willing to help those who ask.
so. boring.
Honestly I don't get the low ratings. He wasn't that bad of a professor, he was pretty boring but the tests and pop quizzes were super easy, I didn't even buy the book.
So boring. Expects you to read the entire book and does not teach it in class. Expectations of students is very unclear. Paper is very hard to write and he does not explain very well. Powerpoints are useless. My advice is to read the book because it's essential to passing. He is arrogant and thinks he's too smart to teach. Tests are insanely hard.
Dr Park is a fantastic professor. His lectures can be dry at times, but he has an excellent understanding of the concepts that he teaches, and he is a very intelligent individual. Going to class is a must, but if you put in the work, it is not very hard to succeed in his class. Also, he is a very different guy outside of class, so go to his office!
He means well and wants you to do well, however he's not really going to help you do that. Most of your learning in this class is expected to be from the book, although he also expects you to know things he goes over in lecture so don't skip. I changed my major out of the psych department after taking this class, even though I took psych in HS.
The lectures are so boring and have little to nothing to do with the material. You can read the whole text book and know key words inside out and you'll still fail the tests.
Uses powerpoints to explain everything but there is so much information that you don't know exactly what he wants. He is very confusing explaining things in class. Tests are extremely hard. I'm an A/B student and I am struggling in this class. Going to his office hours are somewhat helpful, but not the best. READ THE BOOK if you want to pass
This class was very difficult. The material in lectures was slightly similar to things we learned in class but there was also new material. His tests had questions that he would lecture about in class and rarely things from the book. I would not take this professor
His tests are extremely hard. And he gives no guidance as to what will be on it. It's very hard to learn in his class because he walks back and fourth and rarely gives good explanations. He expects you to learn everything from the book and class is only "for asking questions" I was a straight A student and am struggling to keep a C. Don't take him.
You don't learn anything from him or class, I feel like he could careless if his students are failing your exams make or break you.
Dr. Park had clear expectations and the timeline of everything made it not overwhelming. He was flexible with deadlines, too. He will challenge you if you ask/answer a question. Definitely read the book. If you read the book, you should get an A/B on the tests. All multiple choice, not that difficult. Not a bad guy like other reviews suggest.
Dull, boring lectures. You will not walk out of his lectures smiling, ever. Vocab is important, and you should at least skim chapters. GO TO CLASS His pop quizzes are brutal.
He's funny, if you can actually listen to him. He's so monotone, and so hard to actually pay attention to. I read out of the textbook and zoned out on his lectures and got a B+ on the exam. You should go to class though just in case there's a pop quiz but try to get out of his class if you can.
I have had peers tell me they have taken Social Psychology before and got nothing from the class, but Park was just the opposite. I learned so much and he uses very good examples from real life to help with understanding. I highly recommend. Also, he is very open to office hours!
Dr. Park is one of the most boring professors I've had in my life. He takes an interesting subject and makes it unbearably dull. His lectures are long and monotonous, which makes it very hard to focus in his class. He takes about a month to grade any papers, and doesn't give out review sheets for exams. Overall, he's just very dull and frustrating.
Professor Park is probably the most monotone person I have ever been taught by. He does occasionally try to be engaging but he rarely succeeds. He reads directly from his slides, or he doesn't even address them. He assigns homework but won't grade it for weeks on end. I would not recommend him, especially not if you want an engaging class.
After each class, he posts his powerpoint on Blackboard so showing up to class is not necessary but I highly recommend it. You only have about 8 grades in the class so you have to do well on assessments and homework. He is willing to admit that he doesn't know everything. Kind or monotone. Willing to answer your questions, sometimes answers unclear
During the lectures he doesn't really teach what you need to know, just gives examples. So make sure to READ. The chapters are really long. He gives extra credit though and curves tests as well.
Besides the fact that he is super monotone and doesn't show his personality he's great. He really knows the information and is good at communicating it to the class. The only thing I didn't like was that he didn't give study guides and you basically had to read the whole book because his lectures did not pertain to the book. The tests are on both.
The class lectures are very dry and slow. If you don't read the textbook, you'll fail. The exams sometimes include in-class videos. Read the chapters, and watch out for pop quizzes, which are a easy 10 points. He gives extra credit. Class is not mandatory, but he will not answer your emails if you miss. Test are difficult. Good luck.
He goes by the book, but then puts his own twist on the material in lecture. He inspires you to think critically and invites the class to participate. Do the readings, take good notes on them, and add to your notes what you missed in the reading, that he covers in class. Make flashcards. Not an easy A, but you'll improve your work ethic :)
He doesn't teach anything that is in the book, lectures are irrelevant but you still have to attend class because he gives out pop quizzes. You have to read the book, and read it well because he tests on very specific, minuscule things. Wouldn't recommend.
Lectures we're very hard to pay attention to, but attending class is necessary because of pop quizzes. You'll get more out of reading the book than attending lectures.
You HAVE to read! All of the test and pop quizzes are from the book and a little from his lecture. If you dont read every chapter, dont expect a good grade. I respected him, hes a good prof and very intelligent. Answers all questions!
Park was an ok professor. He gives you the basic material, but you have to read to learn the rest for yourself, which is expected in college. Helpful in office hours so take advantage. Put in the work from the beginning, don't slack on reading and you'll do fine.
Dr. Park's lectures focus on real life implications of what the book describes in psychology. Read the book, pay attention, do the review and you will be fine. He is very caring about students who care, and has been of amazing help to me. He will care about your success if you care about yours. He'll answer any question if you just email and ask.
Honestly he's not that bad of a professor. At first I didn't really like him, but I've warmed up to him. You have to go to class because he has pop quizzes. I've never seen him smile, which is kinda odd but he has his funny moments. Some of the stuff he lectures about doesn't correlate but read the book and you'll be fine.
Dr. Park knows his stuff. He doesn't smile or get very personal, and his voice/PowerPoints are pretty plain and kinda boring. He relates the stuff in lecture to real world events and gives a ton of examples. He really challenges us to develop our ideas and questions and will not just tell you an answer. Sometimes has funny moments
Ernest is wild. He makes a lot of jokes but will never show much emotion. He gives very few assignments, but if you don't do the reading, there is no way you'll pass. 5 in class pop quizzes, they're when he has a backpack. Lectures can at times be really boring.
Professor Park is very monotone and it is very hard to stay awake for his lectures. His PowerPoints relate to real world things but have absolutely nothing to do with anything on the tests. Read the chapters required before class or you will be super confused about anything he is talking about.
5 in class pop quizzes, very monotone. You have to read the textbook and thoroughly understand what you read. He is decent - will skip chapters but not tell you so don't read them! Make sure you follow the syllabus and participate in the enrichment activities.
Have to read 3-4 chapters per exam (3 exams each worth 25% of grade) and each chapter is around 50+ pages with thorough comprehension needed for each chapter. Very good information from the class I learned A LOT, but it will be more challenging than other Psych professors for sure. Don't skip class, lecture info. is referenced in exam questions.
The lecture is pointless but you have to go for the pop quizzes. Little room for error, & must depend on the textbook.
Park was very monotone and lectures did not typically give me a lot of content to study. Without reading the book I would have failed the class 100%. you NEED to read the book and he gives random pop quizzes that are difficult to make up so you have to go to class
Professor Park was great! He was really good at connecting behavior back to physiology, which helped me make sense of the information! He was always willing to talk to you after class or during office hours if you needed help understanding the material or figuring out how best to study! Overall, one of my favorite professors so far!
Professor Park is okay... He doesn't take the time to get to know his students and seems that he couldn't care less if you passed. Strangely avoids eye contact with everyone. As long as you go to class and read you'll be fine, however, lectures get boring after awhile. Find a study group.
do not recommend. everything in this class was so unclear. students were always confused as to what was going on. he also is the most monotone speaker ever. very boring, very useless.
Dr. Park's lectures were boring and didn't really help with studying for tests. If you don't stay on track with the readings in the book than the pop quizzes will be harder. Each quiz is 5 questions so if you miss one you're already down to a B. There aren't many points besides the quizzes and tests. Try to get a different professor. Just try.
He used lectures to show videos and didnt lecture according to the notes. Reading chapters outside of class is crucial but he barely touched on what we read. Many pop quizzes & he words questions in ways that were hard to understand. I went to office hours for questions and instead he told me I obviously didnt know how to understand psych.
Personally, I liked him. He was very clear about the expectations for this class from the start. If you put in the work, you will get a good grade. You basically have to read a chapter a week, which is a lot of work because each chapter is about 50 pages. BUT, I learned so much in his class and I still reference that information today.
super monotone it is terrible. psych is interesting but he manages to make it boring. show up and try to pay attention +vocab and you should do fine. but I would not recommend.
If you read the book and go to class you should be fine but overall I would not strongly recommend my boy Ernie because he won't give you a study guide and the pop quizzes are a pain in the ass.
Personally, I enjoyed his lectures, even though they were a bit monotone. Theres a lot of reading but as long as you know the main terms and skim the chapters to understand whats happening, the pop quizzes arent hard. Dont wait until the last minute to do the enrichment activities, and ask for help comprehending the chapters when you need it.
If you get this professor, run in the other direction. If you don't mind professors that have absolutely no passion for what they are teaching, you will enjoy this class. Lectures are not relevant to the exams.
His lectures are VERY boring and monotone. You can tell they are rehearsed and repeated the same way for every single class. Get ready to read 30-50 pages every week because the tests rarely have lectures info on them! He gives 5 pop quizzes, so unless you have someone warning you in a class beforehand you cant skip. I dont recommend him!!!
Professor Park has a very monotone voice. If you can get past that, he provides good information and explanations. After he covers a topic he asks if you have questions, so make sure to ask questions if you have them. Going to class isn't mandatory, but it does help with learning the material versus self teaching outside of class.
I met with Prof. Park several times outside of class to better understand the material and I found it to be very beneficial. however, in this class, there has to be a lot of effort put in, in order to receive a decent grade. If you keep up with all the reading, you should be fine.
Ernest spent a lot of time lecturing, and having to read 30-50 page chapters a week was definitely overload. Tests arent terrible since he usually curves it, and occasionally he offers extra credit on days that less people show up. Not my favorite professor but definitely bearable. If you dont learn from lectures he probably isnt for you.
A little dry, but perfectly suitable. Go to lecture, do the readings, youll be fine. He offers extra credit as well as curving tests
I was worried aobut this class because his ratings say it's hard but honestly I think these people must just be slackers. Just read the book and come to class and you'll be fine. Plus it's interesting and he's actually helpful if you ask questions.
Hopefully you are reading this before it's too late to switch out. He is very boring in class and is just so mean to his students. You are graded on 5 pop quizzes that are extremely hard, 3 exams that are extremely hard, and a paper that isn't bad if you put a ton of work into it. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU WANT TO DO GOOD IN PSYCH 101!
He is a good professor, and probably my favorite that Ive had so far. If you meet with him and put in the work, you will be fine. Just try hard and show that you care. Ive never learned so much in on class, than I have with his. Most people who gave him negative reviews probably didnt try their hardest imo.
I was so very disappointed with prof. Parks. His lectures are all over the place and drawn out. I've already taken another research methods class and this class is a joke in comparison. Prof parks only talks about sexual attraction (kinda weird). His tests were crazy hard for a 300 level psy class. almost impossible. Top 10 worst profs I've had.
As long as you pay attention to lectures and do practice work and read you will definitely do well. He is a very understanding guy and super nice. His lectures are somewhat interesting as well.
Professor Park seems like a very nice person and he always tried his best to help me when I needed it, but this class was a joke. His lectures are all over the place and very difficult to understand and pay attention to. His exams were terrible. His powerpoints are very boring, almost impossible to listen to.
Very very hard test and the lectures are so boring and find little help when taking the test. Reading the chapter helps but they are very long and you made have to read it a few times to do okay on the test. He was not lenient and I just had a very hard time with a beginner class.
Please DO NOT take this professor. Does not explain material well or give guidance of any kind. Exams are EXTREMELY difficult. Hardest exams I have ever taken. Our average exam scores as a class were below 65 every single time. To get an A you will have to study 40+ hours a week or come in to this class already very educated on the material.
-13/10. expects you to have time to read 50+ pages a week and if you don't... you fail. Tests are extremely hard, but curved (because nobody does good).
Overall one of the most challenging classes I took, I even did better in my other courses. His material is definitely long and heavy, he expects you to read a dozen of chapters and make sure you know every single material. The exams are hard, even if you study.
Very hard, took the class online and it was 3 days a week, each lecture took me about 1-2 hours and the exams are cery difficult. had to read 50+ pages every week as well
Easiest online class, easy homework assignments. Clear instructions for everything that's assigned. Be ready to read the textbook a lot, and write down example questions to study.
The class was very straight forward and very structured. You have to read the textbook but it is actually not a bad read. Homework is based credit/no credit and is just your opinions. There are pop quizzes but they aren't hard. I found him to be very educational. I enjoyed the consistency. Willing to help if you ask. Little work.
Prof Park is a fantastic prof who knows his stuff and wants you to know the info too. There are pop quizzes (usually Fridays) and if you miss one you will not be able to take it unless you have a good reason, 2 exams, and 3 easy hws. I got by w/out reading the book thanks to his lectures and the practice quizzes. He also gives off major dad vibes
Park was an okish teacher, took me a while to figure out how his class worked. But if you read the book and read the power point you should do good on the pop quizzes. Also the exams are online so that was very helpful.
BORING!!! His lectures have nothing to do with tests and quizzes. You will only do well if you read the book, a chapter a week that's 50+ pages. Your grade will be made up of 10 pop quizzes and your 2 exams. I got a A in psych in high school and B with him. If you can get a different professor I would
So much reading every week. Even if you do the readings, the quizzes and exams can be difficult. Quizzes are every week in person, although exams + final were online, which did help alleviate test anxiety.
If you are someone who struggles with testing and has test anxiety like me, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! You have a pop quiz every week and you never know exactly what will be on it, he tells you to "read til comprehension" so if reading does nothing for you learning wise you will struggle like I did.
Professor Park is very difficult and expects you to read the chapter before the start of the week and then lightly goes over the material as if we should already know it. Lectures are confusing. Weekly pop quizzes.
He is awful. SO MUCH READING. 10/10 would not take again or recommend. Do not take his PSY101 class as a freshman(he might be better with higher level teaching, but not freshman). He asks questions based on the reading in class when teaching about things completely irrelevant.
Professor Park definitely knows what he is talking about, but also expects you to be an expert on the subject. We had to read each and every chapter, which were about 40 pages each. Not only did he expect us to read it, he expected us to know what everything was on every page. He has pop quizzes every week and you never knew what was on them.
You had to read the entire textbook in order to be successful. He did give lectures, and I personally learn better from lectures, but his lectures were very minimal in content covered and were very hard to take notes from. He gives one pop quiz a week, and his exams are extremely hard. Extra credit was offered through the psych department.
I really enjoyed having him and I learned SO MUCH from this course about social psychology. He met with me privately 2 or 3 times, his tests were hard, but I still ended with an A in the course. If you want to learn, take his course. He does have pop quizzes so come to class and pay attention.
The lectures are jumbled and hard to follow. Overall, he is a pretty easy grader offering extra credit, curves on exams, assignments are credit no credit, and the paper he is very forgiving. You have to go to class to get the extra credit opportunities (after first exam and day before thanksgiving break). He is a good professor not great though.
This class has a lot of reading, and you will not pass if you don't read. There are pop quizzes once a week based on the reading, but they aren't super difficult. Lectures are a little vague, but are helpful. He is very clear on what is expected of you, so there is zero confusion on that front. Very helpful if you just reach out to him.
I did learn a lot from the class, but I spent way too much time fighting for my grade. This class honestly should be very easy. The material is not difficult to understand. But this professor makes it difficult to apply b/c he complicates every question and answer. Your entire grade is 10 "pop quizzes" (only 5 ?'s) and 2 exams (50 ?'s in 50 mins).
Honestly this class compared to others wasn't as awful as everyone makes it seem. Yes there are "pop" quizzes and only a few assignments that counted towards our grade, but if you attend every class and actually do the readings this class is very doable. He teaches the content very well in my opinion but he isn't enthusiastic.
Average prof overall. The class wasn't that difficult but there are "pop quizzes" that he gave every Friday. Only a quiz (5 ?s) every week with a couple assignments and 2 exams. He talks a lot about the same topics so reading the book is crucial. He explains content well and is accessible but very monotone so it's hard to pay attention.
He is knowledgeable in psychology but doesn't do a great job teaching. He is monotone and talks for the whole class on things that are unhelpful. He makes things more confusing and just isn't a good teacher. You HAVE to read the book if you want to do good, everything learned is from the book. Pop quizzes every week but they are mostly on Fridays
His lectures are very informative and he goes over important stuff multiple times, but readings can be a lot if you're a 1st or 2nd yr. He's more than willing to go over stuff in office hours tho. Biggest gripe is that he'll go into really triggering topics without much of a warning. If you have specific triggers I'd talk with him before starting
Im very disappointed because i was so excited for this class but his lectures are not at all relevant to the assigned readings so they are not helpful at all. If you actually ready and study you will do fine but there is also pop quizzes every single week on random points from the reading.
Professor Park is extremely monotoned and boring. He repeatedly discussed material over multiple lectures which makes him more boring and its hard to stay engaged. There are not a ton of points to be earned, so the few assignments and quizzes you get you have to basically get 10/10 on all of them to do well. "Pop quizzes" but they're every Friday.
Nice guy, contradictory to his outward demeanor. Lectures are intentional and illustrate material well so I suggest attending class as much as possible (especially if you don't like reading the textbook). Beware, he is not easily satisfied with students responses to his questions... make sure to ELABORATE.
I actually think the professors lectures were sort of interesting and you could tell he knew what he was teaching. But, the fact that he expects so much out of his students yet gives them few opportunities to redeem themselves from one singular bad grade knocks him down for me. He does not give second chances, so you cant slack of at any time.
Prof Park had no enthusiasm at all. The class was a midterm and a final, pop quizzes every friday, and 3 HW assignments. His lectures make no sense and he expects you to read 40 pages a week of the textbook. Something I've learned is if you don't have the textbook, you will not pass the class. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
He lectures every class (and goes at least 5 minutes over every time), there are quizzes every Friday on the material of the week, and he expects you to read the majority of the textbook to get a good grade. Class is primarily quiz and test points and only 3 10-point HW assignments so if you don't do good on 1 quiz, it is difficult to bounce back.
Worst professor I have had at grand valley in my 3 years. He knows what he's talking about but doesn't seem to have any enthusiasm whatsoever. Only grades your quiz
I think that him wanting us to memorize a bunch of studies and outcomes on top of knowing definitions and "why" these things occur was a bit much. I felt like there was pressure to memorize the book even though there was a lot of information to take in while reading. He did give a few extra credit assignments, so that was nice.
This has been the hardest class I have taken. The heavy lectures and having to read the book and memorize everything, having only 5 HW assignments of 10 points. Some pop quizzes throughout the semester. Extra credit maybe 3 times but that was also a quiz. Only 2 exams so if you fail one it's pretty hard to get your grade back up. Good luck...
Professor Park's lectures can be dry, but attending is crucial to do well. The textbook is essential - unstuck AI was a lifesaver for quiz prep. Expect frequent pop quizzes, but put in the work and you'll learn a lot.
This class was not bad as long as you read the textbook and pay attention in class. The homework was short and easy. There are pop quizzes based on the lectures and textbook, but if you understand the main points from textbook/lecture the quizzes are easy. There are multiple extra credit opportunities as well.
Professor Park was the most boring professor I have ever had. He seemed to hate the class and what he was teaching. He also gives very ways to get your grade up. He himself has made me switch majors.
It was so hard to do well in this class. Lectures were boring and repetitive, reading was so heavy and even when I understood the concepts thoroughly I did poorly on assesments. I'm usually an A student and this class was my only B that semester. He clearly is knowledgeable on the subject but I did not like his teaching style at all.
Park is a nice person and easy to talk to. With that being said, though, classes are boring/ hard to focus in. Every class, the entire time, it's just him lecturing. The textbook is around 40 pages every chapter, and if you don't read it, you will not do well in his class. Grading is based on pop quizzes and two exams, with a few 10-point HWs.
He literally just dumps information on slides, so difficult to understand, and the amount of work expected to know in comparison of what is in the lecture is crazy. Chapters in the TB are crazy long and way too much information for a psychology class... never take this professor he sucks. only graded on quizzes and exams too...bruh
