Uwazie is a tough prof; he asks for a lot of research. He takes attendance everyday and absolutely will not accept late homework. He is a little hard to understand, but not too bad. If you have the opportunity to take a different prof, take it.

Walks out of class so you cant talk to him or ask questions. Study guide will have things not mentioned in class and if you ask him he says we talked about it and thats it. Doesnt offer to answer or help
He was a jerk. Completely on a "everyone hates black people" trip and I'd advance all not to take him. Not only is his accent hard to understand but he has no visual aids (ex. powerpoint). A jerk of a teacher.
He sucks...avoid him if you can
Daily attendance. Lectures are very unclear and it can be hard to understand him at times. Make Sure all of your papers include a lot of statistics in order to get a good grade. The class is not as bad as many make it out to be. The tests are actually
Worst teacher I ever had! not clear at all! take anyone else!!!
Hard to understand his accent. Was very unclear with what he wanted in the assignments he assigned. Otherwise, its a pretty easy class with not much work to do.
Very hard to understand and unwilling to help if you have questions. He grades based on his point of view if you disagree your screwed.
Hard to understand, unclear with intentions of assignments, grades unfairly, attendance required. Avoid him at all costs.

Hard to understand him with his accent. unclear with intentions of assignments, grades unfairly, attendance required. If you ask him to explain something to you or to the class, he says "just read the instructions and do it." Avoid him at all costs.
the workload is light, but he grades hard. each question you miss on an exam is 1/2 of a percent of your OVERALL grade. (becuase there are so few points possible) Group project, research project, must read scholarly journal and write report, create case simulations. wants 4 pages of info made into 2 pags so he does not have to read much. NOT CLEAR!
He is not clear on directions, so ask lots of questions. fairly easy class. mandatory attendence. You need to write a note if you miss class.
Show up to class, do your work, ask questions, (No stupid ones, just to act like you are paying attension.) and act like you care. A's are hard to get, but B's are easy.
Hard to understand his accent. Takes attendance daily. HIs test has many ambiguous questions (recently the highest grade on a test he gave was 85%... something is wrong here). He likes student participation so ask questions and contribute to discussions.
I got a 95% on one exam, not including the extra credit. do your work, go to class, do the reading, and paricipate. his accent is difficult, but he will repeat things until you understand them. exams are easy, but they are worth a lot of points, and do not have very many questions. so each one counts for a lot. get a good group.
BORING! It was hard to understand him, because of his accent and that he always mumbles and talks so quietly. If the class had questions, he wouldn't really clarify an answer. The syllabus wasn't very clear either. He's just too vague.
Avoid at all costs! Hands down the worst teacher I've ever had. He lacks ethics, professionalism, enthusiasm, and respectability. He lectures about 5 times a semester, good luck understanding him. He falls asleep during presentations and fails to explain class material and assignments clearly.
class had no lectures, was hard to understand.
Directions for assignments are not clear at all. He will go over the directions in class so make sure you go everyday. I would suggest not taking this professor if you can avoid him.
he's really not that bad. he just wants you to do your work and not slack off. i think he tells it how it is when it comes to minorities. i got an A in his class and i thought it was pretty easy. ask questions in class b/c he elaborates it more than in his office, and read the book. and show up to class. you'll do fine if you do all these.
Didn't have any problems with him personally but didn't appreciate the way he belittled people in class. Got what I needed from it, and moved on
he gave me an f when i an a on of the midterms which 60 percent of your grade yet he failed me. i suggest you dont take him for crj 5. plus it kinda hard to understand him.
Can't stand him. He's very unclear about what he wants from you on assignments, and is a tough grader. His lectures are scattered and hard to understand. Don't take him if you can avoid it!
Tough grader.Enjoys class discussions. Biggest downfall is He doesn't use SACCT. I don't believe he goes entirely off his gradebook when issuing final grades. So maybe an office hour meeting..if you can get a hold of him. Id recommend another teacher or waiting until next semester if you can.
Avoid this teacher if possible. He isn't very helpful, and his Term Paper/Research paper requirements change frequently, even if you follow his guidelines, it's still not to his liking. YOUR WILL FAIL!
This professor is a very difficult grader. He is not the type a professor that genueniy cares that his students succeed. On our firt exam the highest grade was a C. He refused to curve it. I have gotten straight A's for the last 4 semesters and I will be lucky if I even pass this course. DONT TAKE HIM!
Please please for the sake of your furture do not take this professor he is horrible!!!!
He's not a very personable professor. Not memorable for a good reason. He seems very intelligent however that does not always make for a good professor. Do not take him. He is not passionate about his students and making sure they retain his lectures. Im not sure why he teaches. He is better off doing anything but teaching
He's not going to let you get away with just showing up to class and never reading the assigned chapters/etc., but as long as you do that you should be just fine.
I don't know why everyone has made Dr. Uwazie appear worse than he is. Took online, very interesting class, learned a lot. Videos supplemental to the mandatory text book readings. Journal packet 10 articles&2 personal interviews. Do all your work on time, follow syllabus,READ and you'll pass. Not easy but also not impossible. Will take him again
Just WOW. Uwazie thinks he is very clear, yet could not be more confusing. He is a VERY crtical grader and has no problem with the entire class getting a C....he feels it is the class not him. He WILL NOT BE SATISFIED even if you follow all requirments for the paper. His accent is ok but does add confusion.
he is an awesome teacher he makes sure you get your work done. you will regret not his class
Absolutely terrible professor. I don't know how this man ever became a professor or who hired him. Do not take him
his grading is horrible and will not curve any test scores regardless... avoid taking him if you are graduating or you will have to come back to retake the course... he has no sympathy and no problem failing you. overall, horrible!
The syllabus is disorganized and difficult to follow which kept students confused throughout the semester. There are a few videos but everything is lecture (long and boring lectures that tend to go beyond the end of class) and it seems that he wings the class with discussions based on the readings. AVOID take as a last resort!!!
Avoid this professor!!! I took this class without knowing who this guy was and boy do I regret it. The class syllabus is simple to understand but I'm not sure what happens when he grades papers. You can write a good paper that meets the requirements listed on the syllabus and still get a failing grade with no real explanation.
The class is easy if you can handle his accent- I found it hard to understand him a lot during the semester otherwise that be in class he takes roll. His study guides are horrible- 2 exams (30 pts), journal report (25), death penalty paper (10) and a book discussion in class (didn't read the book). He grades harsh, very vague on both papers
Here's the thing: DO NOT TAKE HIM - That's all you need to know about him and his way of teaching.
Professor is very knowledgeable about the subject, and the delivery of lectures is relatively engaging. The tests are easy if you show up to class and study what he provides on the study guide. Required a 10 article journal, with other small papers included. Not that hard, having all semester to complete it, pretty easy.
Assignments are easy to do and he does not usually require more than 3 pages and reflections are limited to 1 page. There is a journal where you write a reflection on 10 news articles, each reflection can be any length but with substance. You do have to attend a court observation outside of class once, he has two tests and gives study guides.
This is one of the worst professors I've taken. He doesn't give clear guidelines for his assignments. Lectures are incredibly boring. Will call you out for being on your phone, even if it's just sitting there FACE DOWN. Take someone else, or save yourself the BS and take a different class.
Worst professor ever, all his "guidelines" for assignments are open to interpretation and he changes what he wants while grading. He will also change your grade depending on how much he likes or dislikes you as a person. Don't take him, worst professor ever.
He is an arrogant person and getting involved with him will most likely put negative energy in your life sooner or later. Not the best faculty member on campus by far.
Not a helpful professor. Class lectures are pointless and he has a guest speaker at least every two weeks. The guest speakers talk about the same information just different people. Not a helpful class at all.
Professor Uwazie can be very hard to work with. His directions are confusing because he constantly changes them. The syllabus format is clunky and classes can be boring. However, he is very knowledgeable on the subject, he might need a refresher on teaching style. Avoid him if you can.
Professor Uwazie is a great online instructor. He has the syllabus nicely organized with clear objectives. There is a lot of work and it is all viable to understanding the class. This is a college course, not a high school course. Be ready to work and ready to learn. His grading is tough, but fair. I would take him again in the online setting.
He assigns a peace journal in which you are expected to do a field study and do 3-4 separate volunteer work. It is time consuming. You have to do role plays so attendance is mandatory.
Online CRJ117 American Criminal Justice and Minority Groups. Poorly managed class. The syllabus was pieced together over the years. The textbook was dated as were the videos and lecture material. Some of the videos were over 20 years old. Quizzes were based on old textbook version. You have to fight for him to correct your grade on the quizzes.
I think now that I've taken his class once it would be easier to take him again, now that I have a better understanding of what's expected. Which is where the problem lies, he can be very hard to understand objectives from. His assignment goals can be very poorly translated to the class and can create problems where there really shouldn't be any.
Very difficult to work with. Intelligent man. Bad Professor. Great leader, terrible teacher. Unorganized and unfair grader. Truly, most other professors would give you more points than he would for the same assignment. Based on ample experience in College, one of the worst experiences I've ever had.
He is unorganized and is difficult to understand when giving directions. It is hard to keep his attention up when talking to him or presenting. Last day was a potluck and I was the only one with real food, but was late because of time spent cooking. Emailed him about being late. Asked if he could excuse my tardiness but says "I will consider it."
He makes his expectations so unclear. Ive never given a negative review but I had to for him. The amount of work he gives is ridiculous and its only worth one or two points. He is very difficult too. His feedback is useless and his guidelines are so unorganized. He should listen to his students and step away from teaching and stick with admin
My class code wasn't found but mine is CRJ116. He was an okay professor. He was fair in his grading, had to do a whole portfolio and a research paper. It wasn't a fun class but I didn't want to KMS.... You will have to buy your textbook no skipping out on that. Hated doing to the roleplays in class. Hard to see him for office hours.
Feedback is given vaguely, had to buy two textbooks while not even knowing when to read them we had to talk about it next class, and no study guide available for exams. You must have free time outside of his class for a Peace Journal, research paper, & group project. Some assignments have been posted with no instructions of how to do it properly.
Has no lecture material. Most of the class will be discussions. Tests are difficult because he does not teach anything. He winged the whole course.
Winged course. No idea what he is lecturing. Did not learn anything from this course. Avoid it if you can
Hands down the worst professor and class experience of my entire life. I have taken almost 100 units and have never been so lost. He doesn't seem to know the concept of organization and never EVER clarifies ANYTHING! I am warning you, if you take a class with this man you will be lost. Don't walk away, run! Also, this man is the department chair!!!
Instructions for assignments are vague, makes people afraid to ask questions, gets offensive when being asked for clarification, Professor transition was messy, assignments was not uploaded due to forgetfulness for a while, students were confused on his lectures because they werent really lectures, canvas was disorganized. We pay for this.
You would think as the HEAD of THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE DEPARTMENT he would be great. It is the complere opposite. He does nothing and expects his TA to do most stuff eventhough she doesnt ) This class ( with this teacher ) is UNORGANIZED, and STRESSFULL. You are basically teaching yourself! In my four years I have never had a professor so bad.
The reviews speak for themselves. Im warning you to not be that student that says people give bad reviews because they have bad grades. I received an A. AVOID HIM!!!!!Absolutely horrible.
Took CRJ 116. Professor Uwazie is one of the worst professors i've had at sac state. The only reason why I have a B- is because our class made a group me and we helped each other. Without them, I would have an F. If you do take him, just make sure to do all the work and ask A LOT of questions. He's very unclear.
Worst prof ever. No joke I have never complained but this guy is as bad as profs can get. He doesnt care, doesnt respond EVER, grades ridiculously hard, and I learned nothing in his class It sucks because you have to take him but if u can avoid it I would. This guy gives no breaks, no matter the question he will revert you back to his syllabus.
Dropped due to being worst class I have ever taken in 4 years of studies. No heads up, 24 to 48 hour turnaround for assignments. Syllabus just vague ideas or topics, missing almost all components necessary to be considered an actual syllabus. Canvas nearly a blank slate. Bad communication skills. Not setup for success, really, not setup at all.
He's unclear and make people read his syllabus. Then only talks about it and doesn't explain anything. You really don't learn anything in his class. Bad, really bad.
This class is just bad. I did not realize until i attended the first couple of weeks of lecture. He is unclear about all assignments and THE TEXTBOOK HAS LIKE 9 CHAPTERS WITH AROUND 80 PAGES TO READ. I do not recommend this class to anyone. TAKE A DIFFERENT CLASS!!
His class was my worst class in the world,. He doesn't help his students with anything. no second chance. unclear, unhelpful for others.
This class is not easy. Not because of the material, but because of the professor. Has his TA do everything, and is very arrogant. I got an A by pure luck. Test is nothing like the study guides. I'm glad this nightmare is almost over. Don't take him, I cannot warn you enough. So much reading, so much pain.
Don't take him. I know you're probably thinking "he can't be that bad"- Yes he can , and he is. Don't take him.
I have never felt the need to leave a rating for a professor on this site until now. He is by far the worst professor I have ever had during my 4 years of college. I learned absolutely nothing in his class and highly suggest you do not take his class if you can avoid it. all of the 1s he's received here proves that. 0/10 do not recommend.
The class lecture was extremely disorganized and it was hard to retain any information from this course. Extremely long readings that did not correlate with what was on exams.
Do not take this course under any circumstances or any of his other courses. He made his TA grade every assignment and we did not start seeing grades for assignments until mid semester. He will not tell you when assignments are up on canvas or due. He will refer you to the syllabus and hen have the syllabus due dates contradict canvas.
Was a very unorganized class for the most part. Not an enjoyable class either.
Mr. Uwazie does not know the needs of his students. As a student with a learning disability I have accommodations that allow me to succeed within the classroom. Mr. Uwazie casts blatant disregard for my accommodations and has to be remind no less then 3 times to actually abide by them. He also took a 2 week long vacation right before midterms :)
Not good. No cap choose someone else as if your grade depends on it.
Ernest can be a nice person but the way he words things can be rude for some. He only gave us 6 assignments out of the whole semester and the grading ratio was terrible. I strongly believes he gives people bad grades so we can take his course again. For my last assignment he gave me a bad grade after following his exact instructions.
Knowledgeable Professor
mid ah class and seemed the class was not a priority. The concept for the class is great but the professor is not meant for teaching.
Really great professor. The people saying bad things on here probably just didn't do the work or probably just didn't read the instructions. He is a very respected professor at Sac State. Y'all are just too soft and want everything hand fed to you. WOULD TAKE THIS CLASS AGAIN.
I have had many good and bad professors in my time at sac state. After taking Professor Euwaize, I am very shocked to have taken his class. He is very rude, doesn't know how to speak to others, and makes us feel bad for asking questions. To also think that he is the head of chair is scary. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. FIND ANOTHER PROFESSOR!!!!!!!
1. He is very hard to understand most times due to his heavy accent and also he doesn't explain anything well. 2. The peace journal (8 entires of volunteer work) is a joke and impractical to be able to dedicate so much time outside of school and everything else. 3. You can't miss even one class for anything and overall just don't take him please.
whole class out of ~90 points, 60 coming from 2 tests. one activity was making a mock quiz, absolutely no specification to submit or anything. review day, he asks us to pass it up, all of us did on binder paper. he said he wanted it typed when he never mentioned it before in any way. had to stay on campus that day to type it out, others j took a 0
I was really afraid for my grade at first. He does not use lecture slides, his lecture notes are ok for use, but you should really pay attention in class & take notes. There was only a few assignments & two test, he is not a tough grader just make sure he sees that you understand the concept. PAY ATTENTION. if you fail its because you were lazy!!!
