He's brand new to GVSU so I can't give a fully accurate rating of him right now, however, so far he speaks little to no English (not a bad thing) and makes SURE we know what he means before moving on. I think he'll be a winner.

I am very surprised at the other comments. He has not given any busy work, only homework that helps understand what is being taught, is very nice and helpful. I have never had a teacher that explains things so well. I recommend Sr. Cid

Great teacher, he has funny comments here and there which keeps the class interesting. Tests and quizzes are EXTREMELY easy. He doesn't really say what will be on them, which is why you need to have a syllabus!

Class was very easy to handle. Not too much of a workload, everything well explained. Very open to helping when necessary. Goes over everything to make sure everyone understands. Highly recommended

I was in AP Spanish before this class, so it is meant as a nice review and I couldn't comment on the difficulty of this course. However I can say that I have learned some new vocab, the prof is very nice and sometimes funny, and the work load is rather light. His quizzes reflect some homework and the tests alyways include parts of the last quiz :)

Very easy prof as long as you had four years of high school spanish. Its a basic review of your high school spanish and if you did well in that I would consider looking into SPA 202... I felt like I wasted a semester of my time coming to this class eveyday even though he was a great prof.

Great Professor! He seems a little less energetic than some teachers I have had in the past, but his lectures are great. If you ever have trouble understanding something, he will go out of his way to help.

Professor Cid is a very reasonable professor. I enjoyed his class very much. His Spanish is not hard to understand, and he is willing to help those who are struggling. My only complaint is that his exams are sometimes hard to complete within the class period, but the exams are not very difficult. I learned a lot and I am glad I took this clas.

Cid is a lot of fun. 202 is basically group discussions and debates on random topics like conservation and space. He is easygoing and extremely helpful. No homework. You won't learn a lot, but it is a stress-free option to practice casual conversation and pick up a little vocab. Nice guy.

Prof Cid is a very nice guy. His spanish is very easy to understand. Honestly, you won't learn very much in this class. It's very laid back and sometimes boring. His tests are really easy, but, they can be very long and sometimes you won't have enough time to finish. He grades easily and wants you to do well. If you want an easy class, take him.

Cid isn't an outstanding professor, but he's nice and the class is pretty easy. He's pretty clear about what's going on and grades pretty easy, too. Just go to class most of the time and you should be fine.

He is an easy professor to get along with and to get a good grade with. His tests and quizzes are challenging once in a while but overall he is a really nice guy with a tough accent at times - but not too hard of a class.

Erny Cid is the man! His classes are always fun because you don't just do worksheets, you actually get to talk out loud in class most of the time. Study vocab and you will be golden.

Great teacher! Tests were involved but not too hard. It wasn't hard to understand what he was saying if you know spanish at all. Classes were usually fun... I hated the debates but that's just because I didn't want to have to butt in and say something.

Amazing professor! Schedule can look a little intimidating at first, but he is very organized and you know what is due every day from the first day of class. Very helpful..very nice..He tells you exactly what you want and if you even somewhat enjoy spanish the workload is NOT that bad at all..highly recommend Prof Cid!

Wonderful Prof. I would definately recommend this professor to anyone intersted in Spanish. He was very easy to understand and extremely helpul. If we didn't understand something or wanted to go over the homework he would rework class periods to help us with what we were really struggling on. He sincerely cared about us really learning material.

What a fun class. I often feel intimidated going to language classes if I don't feel overly-prepared, but the atmosphere was always friendly and open. You never got chided for not knowing a word or not understanding. My only complaint is that maybe classwork is a bit easy for an Intermediate level, but I still learned a ton. Excellent Prof. A+

He is amazing! I tested in to 201 and was completely lost, but he really worked with me to help me through. He's lenient and helps people who are struggling. If you are going to take Spanish, take it with him :]

He is a great professor! Both my roommate and I placed into 202 and had him. We both got As and learned. His tests are easy if you look over the material and study the vocabulary for at least 45 mins. He has awesome facial expressions and is funny as well. We definitely recommend him!!

Great prof! He's a lot of fun and he makes his class interesting. You'll learn a lot and he wants his students to succeed. We even learned to salsa dance and had a fiesta at the end of the semester! Take him if you can!

Cid is a funny guy! I enjoyed going to class every day. If I hadn't had prior Spanish knowledge, probably would've struggled. Spent a lot of time on pointless things, but it made the class easy. I do feel more confident with my speaking skills and never felt shy or nervous to speak up in class. Definitely take him if it's just for a gen ed.

Ernesto is by far my favorite professor at Grand Valley. I had him for both 201 and 202 and miss having his class SO much! He is extremely helpful and it is obvious that he genuinely loves teaching Spanish. He is entertaining and very knowledgeable. He has been one of the highlights of my college experience and no professor has compared since.

Professor Cid was more than helpful! I was feeling unconfident during the first few weeks of class so I went to his office hours and he spoke Spanish with me! He was extremely understanding. You were allowed to talk in English if you were confused. Tests are fairly easy (lowest grade was 87%). He is a great professor!

Professor Cid is awesome! Very laid back and humorous and generally cares for how you do in this class. Sometimes the quizzes can be tough, but all you have to do is study and memorize the vocab for those. The tests have essay questions but are generally easy to do. Class is slightly repetetive but all in all, he's a great professor for SPA 202!

Very nice and helpful professor, easy to talk to. After you take the first test/quiz the rest are very similar so you know what to expect. The vocab and culture is important on tests. And extra participation points are given for attending class.

Amazing professor. Easily one of the best I have had so far. Super clear, really helps you learn the language and culture in all aspects. Basically, if you are willing to put forth the effort and interest, then you will have no problem getting an A in his class. Just be sure to study and stay on top of the vocabulary and culture notes.

Professor Cid is the best! This class was not at all difficult, and he makes things very clear. You are only going to use the textbook for vocabulary and culture, so i recommend getting your hands on just those pages and then purchasing the online code, the rest of the book is a waste. He has a freaky good memory, he knew all our names on day two.

I absolutely loved this professor! There is a necessity to every assignment and class. He explains everything perfectly and makes the classroom a comfortable learning environment. Tests are exactly what he teaches you. Textbook is necessary. He gives wonderful feedback on all assignments so you know what you need to improve on.

Prof Cid was an awesome prof. He was very nice, he wanted all of his students to pass, there was not much homework, sometimes in class we would do debates in Spanish which were kind of challenging but interesting. You had to do 10 hours in the LRC but it wasn't hard to do if you went once a week and if you didn't get all 10 you just lost 10 points

This class was ridiculously easy for me (as a freshman), but I had 6 years of Spanish before I took it. There is a lot of homework; however, it is very easy. There was only one group project. Prof. Cid is a good Spanish teacher (from Spain). NOTE: He will not give you extra time on a quiz or test.

Cid was a great Spanish professor! We did have a lot of "busy work" during class time, but the only homework we had was online, and it was due whenever our tests were. He was an easy grader for our group project, and his syllabus is exactly what you'll do in class. Not the most exciting class, but getting an A is definitely doable.

Professor Cid's class was super easy. Too much busy work that barely had anything to do with each chapter. He counts attendance so you need to show up. You can easily get an A if you put some effort in the class and know how to conjugate.

My Spanish teacher in high school was awful, so I was really nervous to be taking SPA in college. But, Prof. Cid was so great that this actually became one of my favorite classes this semester! Cid was a great prof. He was always in a great mood. You work in small groups to practice vocabulary in class and do a couple cultural events during the semester. Sometimes he puts extra credit questions on tests/quizzes. He made the final really easy too and is really laid back. Awesome guy!

The cultural events are the only tough thing, you have to go to 2 during the semester so make sure you go to them quick cause they run out fast. Overall he was such a good professor!!!

Cid is a very good professor! He cares a lot about his students and wants them to be fluent in Spanish. His grading is very timely efficient. Gives busy work/class work but it is beneficial in the end. Lots of group/partner work and conversation in class. If you do not attend class, you will miss a lot. Highly recommend Cid!

Really loved professor Cid. I have always been nervous speaking Spanish in front of others, but he makes students feel comfortable. I think we got 3 absences before they started counting against the grade, but definitely have to be in class to easily pass.

I loved Professor Cid. He's really fun and down to earth and wants you to succeed. I am a perfectionist and he spotted it within the first few weeks and gave me tons of strategies to combat it. The exams can sometimes be tricky but don't rush through it. There are tons of speaking activities which really do help. Great professor and a great class.

Prof. Cid was an excellent professor - truly kind and funny. His expectations were extremely clear from the beginning of the semester. There's many assignments but they are fairly easy and don't take long to complete. There are a lot of easy points and basically if you do the assignments and study a bit for the tests and quizzes you will do fine.

What a fun class, professor cid is amazing. He is super encouraging, always makes conversation with students. Homework is easy, he usually does a jeopardy type game right before tests that helps a lot. Just in general he just made class really fun to go to

The only reason this isn't a 5/5 is because his tests tend to be a little difficult, there is no multiple choice so they are kinda you either know it or don't, but he is very generous in grading. Such a kind hearted soul, tried to make class as fun as possible. Take him if you can!

Ive had him for 2 classes and he is a great prof. He has all the work you will do for the year laid out for you on the syllabus from day 1. His tests are similar each time and want each student to succeed. There is no surprises and he is funny!
