This instructor wasted my time and money. He was unhelpful and was notorious for making students feel stupid when asking for clarification of difficult concepts. I could not recommend this instructor.

This was one of the hardest classes I have ever taken, the test were off the wall. If you read before class it helps a little but he tends to get off subject. He?s also not very understanding of things going on outside of his classroom, you also need to read the lab book before going to lab because there is a test everyday of lab.

Good guy, but his teaching ethics are completely ridiculous. He doesn't let you see your tests to see what you missed, doesn't give you a study guide or proper review for tests or the final. And this semester he offered us 20 points extra credit for attending tutoring once a week for the entire semester. Us that went never received the 20 points.

Gets off topic easily, spent 10 mins of class showing pictures of horses. Treats you like a middle schooler. Doesn't even let you eat in class. Not funny. At all.

Very Rude, arrogant and difficult to work with. Not sure how he will react when asked a question, could be helpful could get angry and sarcastic. Classroom environment very stressful, due to Mr. Hernandez singling people out during lecture and flying off the handle if you have a drink in lab. Worst experience yet at this school, horrible!

There is an obvious level of Chauvinism and sexism in his class. He will single out a female for leaving the class without asking his permission, however when a male student is sleeping during lecture he says nothing. He claimed the female student was "Disrespectful" to him, yet the male student received no such notion.

Worst teacher i have ever had. On the first day he practically bragged that he has a 50% drop rate. He is not clear on what material to study and expects students to just know. I studies my butt off for his tests and every time i received a D. Being a no worse than a B student I ended up dropping his class. Take Lisa Roth she is amazing!

He teaches by reading the text powerpoints to the class. tests are based off pages and pages of information from the ppts. The labs are worthless, the lab quizzes come straight from the lab text. Memorize everything is the only way to an A. He's not very much help, his advice to me, "this class is memorization, sorry but that's the way it is."

I hate this professor so much. He incredibly confusing, arrogant, and expects you as a student to already know everything he's teaching you. Labs are awful, incredibly unhelpful and the lab quizzes are even worse. It's nothing but memorizing the tiniest details from the lab that no one paid any attention to bc they seemed unimportant. DON'T TAKE.

Worst teacherclass experience I have ever had at this school. He gets off topic easily and will rant about something random for large portions of the class. Lectures include sitting there and listening to him read off the power points word for word. Taking elaborate notes wasn't helpful at all. Tried everything, test questions were very random.

I took 111 with Ernesto in the Fall and it was awful. I am an A student, and never worked so hard in my life for a B. I took 112 with Bob Henderson this past spring, and it was SOOOO much better. Ernesto does not care about his students succeeding, and his exams are REALLY hard. Take 111 or 112 with Bob if you can!

Worst person to take BIO with. You can not hear him in lecture or lab. He does not explain things clear or simple. He only reads off his PowerPoints which are not available outside of class. Expects you to know and understand everything after his lecture. DO NOT TAKE HIM!

Listen do not take this guys class. He talks so quietly you can't hear the man. Please listen to me, avoid him! Out of the 35+ college credits I have received, I've only had two B's and the rest A's. I DO NOT gets C's or anything below that. I never have, even through middle school. As of today I need to withdraw because I have a D in his class.

Ernesto's teaching style to to read off the power points and only gives you an outline. He doesn't go by the book so it's kinda difficult to follow along with it. He can be very rude and have a attitude towards you unless you show a lot on interest in his lectures. Your grade is mainly of the tests which makes it difficult to get your grade back up

If you need to take bio 111, but late signing up, and his class is all that is left, do yourself a big favor and wait to sign up for a better prof next semester. Day 1- if you apply hearing aids, you may hear him gloat about how 60% of his students drop or fail, you're literally graded off 4 exams, a final, and unorganized, poorly designed labs

What else can anyone say that hasn't already been said about Ernesto? He is horrible because of his attitude. He is unfriendly, rude and constantly blows sunshine up his own ass. Don't take his class. My Dad is an MD and came to my class because he didn't believe what I was telling him. We left early and my Dad helped me drop Ernie's class.

Can't here him during lecture. Doesn't provide lecture slides outside of class. Tests on material he doesn't cover. The way the multiple choice tests are set up is designed to make you fail. I've always been a straight A student but this semester I had to work my ass of for a low C.

He doesn't give any homework so the tests are your only grades. So basically if you fail one, you're screwed. He's very quiet and hard to hear, and he tests on material he didn't cover in class. His slides are not available outside of class either. I had to work my butt off just to get a C, and I knew the material well before attending this class.

Hernandez is a great guy but can't teach this class in a reasonable manner. Having only tests as your grade with a few negligible quizzes and small assignments is a nightmare if you want to do well. The study guides are the only thing put online and they aren't nearly enough. You also don't get to keep tests after grading with no final study guide

I was more than discouraged after taking this class. I have never struggled so hard just to keep afloat. He is a nice man, but nothing aside from that. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time and money, you WILL be less than pleased with the outcome.

Highly suggest taking this class with a different professor!! This class is a waist of time and you are better off studying and preparing on your own. Hernandez organizes his lectures from lecture outlines provided online and doesn't well prepare students for the exams that he makes, setting you up for failure. Would not take agian!

One of the worst professors I've ever had. Literally expect to spend every free second of your time studying for this class if you hope to pass. Wish I knew about this site before I suffered through his class last semester.

If you are going into this class with past knowledge of Bio chances are you'll do ok. However, if you struggle with bio DO NOT take this prof. Hernandez grades off of exams and practicals only. If you do bad on one exam your grade will drop. I had to withdrawal from the class along with about 20 others. Would not recommend to anyone.

He is lazy and does not put effort into the course. He uses the same tests for years and teaches off power points that were made years ago. He assigns labs and homework and never collects them to be graded so he can do less work. He is also condescending when answering questions and expects all students to know the information before class.

In all of my other courses, I'm getting high 90's. In his course, I have a low 70, which is one of the better averages within my lecture class. Extremely thrown off with many of his test questions, as there is little preparation of what is actually going to be on the exam. Very challenging course. He's very knowledgeabl but that's not enough for me

This is the worst professor Ive ever had. He grades very test heavy and does not take time to help guide you in preparation for the exams. He doesnt provide you with his lectures just a vague outline which he jumps around all over during class so its difficult to follow. I have a 3.8 GPA and somehow am barely passing this class. Mr. Hernandez knows his stuff but is an awful teacher. He expects everyone to already know everything about biology. He also doesn't explain things clearly. Whenever I would ask a question he would make me feel stupid for not understanding. Do not take biology with him!!

Mr. Hernandez is not suited for teaching Biology at a community college. He expects his students to know everything before coming to class. Instead of instructing he vaguely facilitates and wants you to know way more then is necessary in order to meet the BIO111 standards. I do not know how he still has a job.

He gives lecture out lines but his lectures are only on the outlines and he docent go any deeper into his explanations. He is very unwilling to help or answer questions. when asked a question he just keeps repeating what he previously said. In lab he just sits there. sometimes he will tell you something is wrong and then walk away. tests are hard.

One of the worst teachers I've ever had. Doesn't ever answer your questions clearly,but with another question. He acts like you should know everything hes teaching you already. Don's take his class.

So I am going to keep it real with anyone who wants to take Ernesto's class. Good luck to you and your GPA. I highly recommend, actually I'm not recommending I am telling you to take this class with another professor. Only grades exams, few labs, terrible lectures. When you ask questions he makes you feel stupid. For real take my advice...

He barely goes over what you need for the test and even then does not explain it well. You will end up having to find the majority of the material on the study guide on your own. There aren't that many homework assignments either, so if you fail a test, you fail the class. I don't recommend taking his class... I have never cried more in my life :')

Hernandez begins his first lecture talking about how many students drop out of his class. By the second week, half of the room was empty (in my class). His lectures fluctuate between being incredibly hard to understand to explaining basic biology to a child. He knows his material, but he can't seem to explain it adequately.

Don't take bio with this teacher its nearly impossible to pass. Majority of the class either dropped or failed I don't recommend this teacher at all. He refuses to answer questions, doesn't show up for class, very quite , test unfairly. I studied 30 hrs plus for each of the test and still didn't pass. If you have a family or job don't take it.

I would not recommend taking this professor its hard to want to go to lecture, doesnt teach at level that is understandable for a first semester biology student. Teaches as if you have a masters in biology. The final grade for the class is based almost entirely on tests. Hard to go to lab when he doesnt grade all of it just graphs. Tests unfair

Mr. Hernandez should find a new career he doesnt know how to lecture in an understandable manner. My class started with roughly 60 students and 55 dropped this course by the withdrawal date. Would not recommend to anyone!

He is very vague in lecture, doesnt go over labs or how they correlate to lecture. He didnt come to the last 2 weeks of class and didnt care about understanding. He gives out lecture outlines but they have none of the pertinent information on them. Would NOT recommend.

It seems like he often likes to belittle students. Whenever someone would ask a question, he would answer in a way that made the student look stupid for asking the question in the first place. And then when no one would ask questions, he would get upset and threaten to give us a test on the spot since no questions we already knew all the material.

He is super rude. Not fun, doesn't like to answer your questions, makes you feel stupid and is careless. Don't take his class. I hated it. smh

It's unfortunate how hard you can work for some Profs and be rewarded but no matter how hard you work for others its never enough. Professor hernandez is one of those of those profs. He is unclear in what he wants to get done and don't expect good(or any at all) communication if you have any questions. He cant answer emails and often goes off topic

Having a class with Professor Hernandez has been the worst experience I have had in school. He is belittling, vague, and straight up rude. Our class started with 60 people and around 10 of us passed. I am a GOOD student, and I struggled to maintain a C with studying an unbelievable amount. Please continue to file academic complaints if you have him

Gives little to no feedback. During lecture he answers questions with a rude and vague response. Almost as if he expects students to already know the topic. Be ready to teach yourself. I would not take him again.

He seems like a nice guy but his lectures are pretty awful. I took this class online and his audio is constantly cutting out so it's very hard to understand what he's saying. This is a 100 level course but he expects you to know all of the material already. When you do ask him a question, he answers with more questions that he never answers.

you will fall asleep in this class, the professor cannot work with technology. the textbook that you had to buy you wont use, waste of money. no one can hear him over zoom and make sure you stay the entire class, he takes attendance once at the beginning but if he thinks no one is paying attention he will take it again.

Professor Hernandez was a nice person-- just not a very good teacher. His teaching style was pulling up a powerpoint of the textbook and reading from the slides. When he finished, he would ask if anyone had a question; if we didn't, because we hadn't understood enough of the dense reading, he would say we were ready for a quiz. Do not recommend.
