i had him last year, he knows his stuff and his tests are easy. Great prof
Great teacher
Extremely boring!!!! His test were short essays. I wouldn't recommend him unless you like to fall asleep in class.
very knowledgable
Very good professor, interesting class, his tests are short answers, but just study a lot about the major topics, be able to write about them, its pretty easy.
very smart guy... but u tend to fall asleep in class but great guy if u love history
Brilliant professor, very knowledgeable the guys track record is amazing i don't know why he's teaching at baruch tests are short answers very hard if u didn't read the book othawise not so bad... if you like history he's very nice to listen to
He's an absolutely brilliant man. Greatest feature about him is that he knows so much and been so far, yet he's so extremely humble. Very caring and understanding in the students needs. If you take good notes you'll be fine.
Great guy! He's extremely interesting to listen to and actually makes the topics clear. Tests consist of short answer and are easy if you take notes in class and occasionally glance through the book. Take him if you like history!!
Brilliant!!..He has a thorough knowledge of the subject and presents it in an interesting manner. I don't like reading but i didn't mind in this class. Tkae good notes and you'll do fine
There is a lot of memorization involved and quite a bit of reading. But if you do your work, it isn't hard to get an A.
Loved him! Really smart man. Explanations are really clear! Tests aren't hard as long as u know what u r talking about! Read the book and come to class and you'll do great! Definately recommend him!
If u love history, take this teacher. But if u don't then don't. He's interesting coz he's smart and he knows a lot of things but he teaches history. His tests are pretty easy. He gives u terms and u jez have to write a couple of sentences about them.
lectures, though very boring are the key. barely writes on the board.. easy tests if you listen to him.. he knows his sh-t.. bring coffee..dont dont dont sleep in his class, thats how i messed up. and you dont really need the book
Very very interesting and nice professor. He makes history fun. He made me realize that history is not as horrible as I thought it was. Listen carefully to his lectures and practice writing about key topics before the test.
Had him for both history classes. If u like history take him His test are easy if u know history For the Islam class, don't take him if u don't have background in Islam. He's mad smart. class can get boring. test: key terms. write 2 paragraphs on each.
well, he goes on and on about historyso sometimes it gets boring and annoying.but his exams are easy
oNE OF THE NICEST PROFESSORS IN THE DEPARTMENT
this guy is good in history 1000 but dont take his 3000 level courses, he doesnt know what hes talking about and fails like have of the class or they drop it on their own
Amazing professor, great class discussions. one of the most brilliant people, has studied and taught at the top schools, and very well known in his field.
The guy is a genius but is sooooo boring. He drones on without any class discussion. Identification tests are easy though.
He is one of the most intelligent professors I"ve ever known.take his class and listen to his lecture it's worthwhile experience
His class is very boring but he is definetly a very learned person. His tests are very easy but a bit subjective becuase he can give you whatever he wants. Take his class though
This Professor is pretty easy to handle. His test are not hard at all. You just have to know how to take notes and prepare for them. Overall, he's great.
i wouldnt recommend this professor to anybody who is interested in taking HISTORY 3000 level courses, he is unbelievebly boring and his tests consist of 28 terms consisting of class material, dont bother going to the internet to look these terms up. Besides his tests he is unbelievebly boringgggg!!
A+ professor, inspires students to expand their knowledge base. A wealth of knowledge on Middle Eastern politics. Better then the school deserves. Take his class if you're interested in the subject.
one of the smartest profs ull ever meet; only boring if u have no interest in middle east, and if so, why take the class? only bad thing is that retards ask stupid questions that waste like 30 minutes, and he doesnt make them shut up. tests are easy, just listen and read the book; ull learn so much!
this guy knows his stuff and knows it well. if u like middle east history, u better take this man. Very interesting, and pretty easy. Just know basic concepts for final and midterm. Excpects u to write a paragraf for each term, and tells u wats on midterm beforehand. If u study,u will get an easy A
this dude was mad easy. unless your like me and don't keep up with your reading, its an easy A. he knows his stuff, nice guy too. my problem was that his voice put me to sleep. otherwise, there was only 2 tests, mid-term and final, and if you do the reading its a piece of cake. boom.
this man is well educated-yes!but boring as hell,he talked too much, made me change my mind from becoming a history major.his test were like some elementary school crap,so petty, easy until it was boring, the text we used was unfair and hard to study from.this man needs too leave and retire
Great professor !!!
An easy A if you take notes and read the text. Extremely knowledgeable and intelligent professor! The cass is extremely interesting even for finance majors!
HArd Prof. I got above 90's and He gave me a B+, unfair. He does not care about attendance.
very interesting professor. you dont have to buy any of the textbooks.. if you show up for class and pay attention, you will never have to read! all his tests on based on things he covers in class. his interesting little side facts will give you lots of points on the tests
Good teacher you will learn a lot but have to work hard for that A. Not a easy A at all and too much work and reading. Trust me there are other Prof to take for History that are a lot better.
He is a genius. I have recently graduated and he is one of the highlights of my Baruch experience.
this guy failed half of the class, he is a really bad professor completely hard with grading and exams. i have no idea what these ppl are talking about. gave poor reviews, and handed students a sheet with keyterms that couldnt be looked up online only from what comes out of his mouth. so if you miss his wonderful knowledge that he hands out in clas
This guy is an absolute genius. His accent is funny also you get used to it. Take this professor if u wanna learn and write alot. Easy A nooooo,,,Very intellectual yessss.
This professor is unbelievable. He starts each class with a question, and your goal in the class is to get the answer to the question by his lecture. His lectures are never boring, he is soo enthusiastic is spreads to the students. He is one of Baruch's rare gems.
Very smart and interesting. Presents material like nobody else.
Easy but Boring---all he does is lecture. Before he lectures he puts key terms on the board. Copy them then go to sleep (thats what i do), then go into the text book and look up those terms because they may be one of the topics or people you may have to identify on the next test. No multiple choice, identify terms and right a paragraph.
EASY A man I went to class copied the notes, And was good to go cause he tells you exactly what the question are going to be like in the test. Awesome DUDE and very understanding
Not an easy A as ppl says you'll see
Very good teacher. Tests are very simple, just copy key terms on board and study them, THATS ALL. I GOT A'S ON EVRY SINGLE TEST! Lectures are VERY interesting, for me. VERY helpful guy, most helpful teacher in Baruch, but u must ask for help!! EASY, NICE, HELPFUL! EASIEST A!
It is completely wrong that he ain't helpful or not easy. He is the most easiest professor I have seen in baruch. I will tell you little story. I got 5 out of 10 in the book report which was my fault because i did not fellow the instruction. He let me rewrite and there were no due date. He also let u take the make up exam. so take him. Trust ME!!
as to the below comment: if you passed his course then he must be very easy. You can not even write in proper English. I would have failed you for your grammar and spelling alone! What is sad is that English is probably your native language.
Try to avoid him. Throughout the whole semester I thought that I will get an A since my mid-term and my papers were good, I do not think that i did bad on the final either. Somehow, I ended up with C+ which f****d my GPA up. Let me also worn you: there is no book with facts that he is looking for on the exam, so I had to research the web b4 exams
Okay, here's the deal... his class is VERY TRICKY! you think you'll get an A, but u dont! The final was an unheard of 55 points!!! WHAT THE HELL? I got 100's but then the final messed me up! Now thats screwed up! MUST STUDY HARD!
His test is easy which means A in both of his midterm doesn't mean you are good or you really deserve A . He is an incredibly knowledgeable man and can easily figure out wheather you are interested in history or you are one of those Baruch posers who think they always deserve A ,but don't have minimum amount of historical knowledge.
History of Revolutions. A lot of reading and two 7-page essays. Out of 7 A's I got at Baruch so far, one was this class. Professor reputable and knowledgeable but over-confident.
the best , i wwould take him again and again, he is very intelligent and has clear conception of historical events
He is one of the best professors at baruch. I took him twice and got A's in both classes. He is not easy. his exams are easy, but he counts other things. you have to demostrate interest and attend all classes. Also, you writting has to be analythical and good. overall i loved his classes and make me love History more.
he does not care about the student. there is only one midterm and one final and you have to write a 15 page essay which worth 40% of your grade. most importantly he's a hard grader. maybe he knows a lot about history but not helpful.
this is why you can't rely on RMP. everyone rate this professor best let me clerify one thing guys all the student who rated him great professor may be historian or have there phd in history. he is really hard and he grade the 15 page term paper like you wanted to publish it. please dont screw up your GPA
If you think he is a hard professor..just give up your education. It is a problem of Baruch that most students think liberal art and social science courses are mere GPA boosters. 15 page paper? yeah, most of students don't even read their choice of books, then write total craps. Unhelpful? have you ever talked to him and speak out in the class? no
Is the professor rating himself ??????????????? i think he is. stop talking nonsense man. i dont think this is the hardest class in barugh if i can get A- in my BPl class i can do this**** but when professor are horrible you can't do anything about it.
Very interesting and one of the best in col. Tests 20% and 40%; paper 15pg 40%. Tests are straightforward (on gnrl and imprtnt) if read all that assigned and take all notes. Note: class is not easy and very demanding! A lot of reading! If u have other dmnding classes this class is not for u unless u can balance. He is very helpful if need help.
Professor Abrahamian is a very intelligent man. His test format is the following: you are to chose 5 out of 7 history terms and write everything and anything you know about them. There is a term paper, which students stress, but in the end most people ended up getting an A-/A on the paper. You should definitely consider taking this class.
i feel it necessary to defen prof abrahamian. he's one of the most intelligent man that i have encountered at baruch. i've taken his classes twice, got an A- the first time, and in the second class an A. B.S papers are totally unacceptable. He is not an easy A. But you can learn a lot from his classes.
cmon guys baruch is a business school, if you want to major in history and make little money then you should have gone to a liberal arts college. class is way too boring but if you know how to BS you will get A/A-.
Notes!Book! He speaks in mono-tone, so boring sometimes, but can't sleep b/c need to take notes. He knows a lot of history. if u get his exam format, u can even guess which terms he is going to give u. helpful if u want to learn. good time to sleep if u want to flunk.
Honestly, u will not find a better hist professor in Baruch; this guy is a world renowned professor of History, and he fought in the gulf war...although he's armenian! He knows his stuff!
He is one of the best professors at Baruch. If you are lazy and don't like work, don't take his classes, but if u like history he is a great professor. He has good sense of humor, hard grader when it comes to your essays, but come 'on!! if you're in college you need to know how to write an essay already!! Again, he is one of the best!
I took the honors class Fall 07. Not bad, his class consisted of a 10 pg paper, an exam, midterm, and final. All identification questions, relatively easy.
Prof. Abrahamian's class is purely lecture and he throws out lots of info. Good notetakers will do well on tests although reading the textbook helps since his tests require you to write a paragraph on an event/person/subject. Final was twice as long as standard tests. People who wanted an "A" needed to do a book report prior to the final.
Loved him! Nice guy! Sounds like Sean Connery when he talks...
"the goal of this class is to get you to read the textbook" -Prof. Abrahamian. His lectures are interesting but his notes are not on the exams. The exams consists of random titles in the textbook that he wants you to define. It's pointless to use his notes b/c he only likes textbook answers; but notes are good for outlines when your'e studying.
Great Professor! Makes History fun and interesting. Take lots of notes, and study the textbook according to class concepts. If you score well on his 3 tests you will get A-. To get an A you have to read a book and make a book report. Take his class!
GPA KILLER!!!!!!!! I REPEAT, GPA KILLERRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!
GPA Killer!!! Very hard professor, must be a history major for an average grade. Only allowed A students extra credit book report??? Like they need it anyway, spits out info, must be a fast note taker and know what is pertintent and what's not, coming to class with a background is a must!!! Overall there are much easier professors out there.
prof Abrahemian is a great prof! i learned so much with him.his lectures are crystaly clear and structured. if you only attend lectures you should get a B at least..whoever wrote he is a gpa-killer, is a lier, the subject is easy and prof gives enough material to pass all tests. he is a great guy!
Come to class, take notes, read the textbook, take 3 exams, write 1 paper (a book report,) you will get an A. Intelligent & competent prof. TAKE HIM ! ! !
Comparative Revolutions: Great pofessor, has a pool of knowledge under his belt ad is willig to speak with students, highly accessible. The grade i the class depends on your interest and how much you apply yourself
Great Professor, very knowledgeable, professional and courteous. You have to study and read the book, he is a very fair grader.
Very good Professor. Takes class very seriously and expects you to do the same. Moderate workload, he is a very fair grader. Expects you to be prepared to every class and to do all the required readings. As long as you do all your work, participate, and make a sincere effort you will do just fine.
The best professor. I enjoyed his lectures. He is very nice and helpful. In my mind he is a genius. I even bought one of his books about Iran. I also watched youtube videos of him talking about the history of Iran. Great professor. On the exams he gives terms where you have to write a paragraph to explain the terms. Got an A.
YOu will only receive an "A-" even if you aced the midterm and final. you will need to do an extra book report to get an "A." His exams will test the things you read from the text. like others said, his exams are terminology definitions.
Nice guy.He knows history inside out.Talking/lecturing for the ENTIRE session w/o stop(u gotta be a GREAT historian to do that)!3 tests ID Qs.As long as u read the book u will be fine.U HAVE to write a book report to get an A,otherwise A- is the best u can expect -->this is the only complain but im graduating so I dnt care.READ TEXTBOOK is key.
Absolutely superb Professor. He is a true historian and gives amazing lectures. If you are a history major you must take one of his classes b/c you will learn the subject in depth. He is difficult but if you are in college you should be taking your work seriously. If you don't, you will probably think he is too hard.
Professor Abrahamian is an excellent History Professor. If you like to read, I recommend him, but as he says: "If you're allergic to reading, don't take this course." Read your book, take good notes during lectures, and do the BOOK REPORT. If you can do that, you will earn an A for the course.
Took World Civilizations with him. Be prepared to spend time reading the book. Gives terms for the exams on which you need to write 8-10 lines about based on your reading from the text book. Taking notes helps too. But focus more on the book. Recommend him if you are interested in History.
Was in this class in Sept 2001 when the 9/11 attacks happened. He did a great job immediately adding current events to the curriculum and putting what was happening in a historical context. Great professor.
This is by far the best and most knowledgeable professor I have had. He intergrates all forms of history when teaching off the top of his head. Amazing. Be prepared to write carefully because he will read every word of your paper. Excellent. Highly recommended.
This class is no joke. Lectures get boring but the professor is extremely passionate about history. You cannot do well in this class without knowing the book inside out. Readings are a must and just taking notes from the lectures will barely pass you.
Amazing professor. He makes you read and think a lot. It is not a easy A but you get a lot out of the class.
Take this class. No one makes history more interesting and clear than this professor. He is very knowledgeable on all topics/subjects. Makes an unenjoyable topic enjoyable. His tests are easy if you take notes and know what is going on.
Great Professor. highly recommend to take this course. Easy A-!!!!! To get an straight A should to wright a book report, which is not difficult to do.
This professor is the pure definition of genius. Three exams and one paper to get an A. Exams are identifying key terms in 7-8 sentences. The book review is to get you an A, only offers it to top students though. You'll need to take good notes to ace class and reading is bare minimum but if you have bad notes, you'll study more than necessary
