Erv is a great teacher and a wonderful person! He is a very smart man and he keeps the information interesting! I would give him an A+!!!

I loved erv! he was funny, easy going and pretty easy (if you studied the answers for the midterm/ final he gave you beforehand).

Irv is a really cool teacher. The tests were kind of hard, but there were no assignments and he makes the best slide shows.

Waiste Water Treatment Plant field trip rocked (except for that funky stank!) Erv is a nice guy and well educated. His exams are a little hard if you don't do reading and quizzes are random shot-gun style questions that you can't prepare for.

I don't know what these other people are talking about, the tests were SO EASY. 2/3 of the final is taken directly from the 2 midterms. If anything I felt this class was too easy, but Erv is very likeable and knowledgable. Lots of videos.

Very smart guy and really makes you think twice about your impact in the world. His midterms are comprehensive, but if you read (of choose to do the study questions) you should do just fine. The people in his movies are also funny and amusing to watch.

There are 3 tests that are curved (but no one ever aces them because he asks really random questions). No homework that is due in class but there is assigned reading. If you want an A then you probably should read and do the study guides. Not hard

I liked this class. Erv is very nice and willing to accomidate his students. He sincerely wants everyone to pass and get something out of the class. He is an attendance stickler however, so go to class or have someone sign you in, one miss could be the difference between a letter grade.

Everything Erv teaches is so easy. He's a really nice guy, with a little bit of a hippy attitude. He does grade on attendance, and he's a stickler for it, but he's really passionate about what he does.

I took one of his classes about a year ago but he is still one of the best teachers I have had. I even actually thought about being an ENSP major after this class. He uses a lot of different styles of teaching: visual aids, current events articles, videos, field trip, and the list goes on. interesting, smart, great teacher who wants help you :)

truly inspirational guy...everything he asks of you is in the syllabus and is very straightforward. Interesting class and easy enough to get an A without having to spend loads of time or doing any extra credit. His class is an experience that pretty much nobody should want to pass up.

He is THE coolest teacher i have ever had. He gets you interested in the topic and because of him I'm majoring in Environmental Studies. There's no way you can't like him.

Erv may be the best teacher at SSU. His lectures are extremely interesting and really opened up my eyes on environmental issues. I am somewhat conservative politically and I loved this class. Erv does not force his political viewpoints on his students like some teachers at SSU. Quizzes are tough, tests are moderately difficult. Do the extra credit.

the class is pretty hard, but it is extremely interesting. plus, half of the final is the two previous mid-terms, and he posts the answers to those on his office door. i would definitely recommend him.

He is a great teacher! I didn't belive in global warming until I took his class! He doesn't mandatory hw..but his syllablus recommends hw which really helps! I got an A in the class and I really enjoyed the class! you also get an extra credit assignment. The class is Very interesting, but depressing. You will learn a lot!

He is a great teacher! Do the syllablus questions and take lecture notes...know the notes and questions prior to the mid terms and final and you will get a good grade. He basically gives you the test answers..you just have to do some work. Interesting class! He also posts the answes to the tests which is the final. Only reason you fail is laziness!

Erv is an AMAZING teacher. you would be a fool to not take this class. He is just amazing, he's funny and helpful and I always looked forward to his class because he is such an admirable man and his classes were so interesting! Tests count for a lot though and its good to go to class so you can catch tthe pop quizess!

This class can get boring at some point, but it is really important information. His lectures are what is on the test. If you go to class and pay attention you should end up fine. His tests are somewhat hard, but if you study then you shouldnt have a problem and he also curves the tests. Not bad Im an average student and I got a B+

Hands down the best professor I've ever had, or probably will ever have. The guy knows his stuff, he's interesting to listen to, and even may have convinced me, a music major, to minor in environmental science.

I agree. ERV! He's evolved into using power point now which is more helpful. I love Erv. He tells it to you straight and is passionate about what he's doing. You watch a lot of movies (take notes during them) that are really helpful. HUGE TIP: Use the concept ?s on the syllabus. The best lecture is about his strawbale house! Take his classes!

Professor Peterson was an awesome professor! He made ENSP very interesting, possibly the best GE class ive taken at ssu. If your read the assigned reading and attend the lectures youll do great. His tests are very reasonable. highly recommend!

ERV IS AMAZING! such a nice guy and we all thinks he smokes regularly. some questions on tests are random but go to his office to get the answers to past tests. the final has 100 questions that are word for word from the previous tests. great easy class. easy to get an A if you take notes and go to class pretty regularly

Erv is AWESOME! Take this class if you want an easy A or B. He doesn't take attendance but I found his class and the videos he showed interesting and amusing so I went every day and had no problem on his midterms. He offers up to 70 points extra credit which can help if you bomb a midterm or just want some extra points for that A

Erv Peterson is the best professor I have had in college so far. Anyone who wants a class that is both informative and fun take it with Erv his is funny, gives great information and is generally just a nice guy. Could not reccomend it more

Erv is a friendly guy and the subject is interesting, but don't go in assuming you'll get an easy a. with the extra credit it's possible, and both the midterms are curved, but the tests and quizzes are pretty hard. As long as you know there's work you'll be fine, but I went in thinking I could cruise through and it's not as easy as I had thought

Overall tests are kind of hard but make sure you get all 70 points of e.c. cause he curves the test. theres no hw except reading. you can get by without buying the expensive book i looked in it maybe three or four times throughout the semester. but he gives you all the ? on the syllabus

He is AMAZING! Such a good teacher. The book is very helpful because it gives the answers to the questions he gives you on the syllabus (which are for all his tests). Such a good class and a great teacher. I would recommend it to anyone.

Loved his class and his teaching style! He has a laid-back attitude, but he is also very passionate about the subject he is teaching. His exams are not that difficult, especially if you read the textbook. He grades on a curve so that also helps. I hope to take another class of his, but I don't know if he teaches other classes besides this one.

Erv is an amazing teacher!! I was not interested in Environmental Science at all and I passed with an A. His quizzes are kind of difficult, but if you take notes on everything he says, not just the power points you should be fine. He posts the midterms outside his office and come finals he uses 70% of the same questions. Awesome Teacher!! :)

I LOVED this class. He is a great, laid back guy who just loves to teach what he's passionate about. It's an interesting, easy course that is great for GE. Just take notes from the lectures, go over the key points in the chapters of the book, and you'll get A's and B's on all of his tests. I wish I could take this class again. Simply fantastic!

One word to describe Erv: Chill. ENSP was super easy yet also very interesting. We had one homework assignment the entire semester, and our last quiz grade was just to show up to class. His tests can be a little hard sometimes but he always curves and pretty much all the questions come from his slides which he puts up online.

He's very passionate about the subject matter. I definitely didn't think that I would like Global Environmental Issues but it turned out to be a lot more interesting than I expected. Extra credit opportunity for working in the garden :)

I never thought I would enjoy this class, and I love it! Erv is great, he is enthusiastic about Environmental Studies, and though he does a lot of 'scaring' his students, the subject matter is real world, and all things that need focus. Highly recommend! 2 quizzes, 2 tests, 1 5 min 'footprint', and a final.

For those considering ENSP, Erv's the best in the department! I should note that his lectures are quite interesting, let alone funny, and is sure to make you more aware of the environment. His work load is all exams, but gives extra credit opportunities. However, note that he isn't an easy A. You HAVE to study for the tests, but overall, he's great

Very passionate and adorable. We took notes from powerpoints for 30mins-1hr, then watched movies. I took the 1day/week class and he rarely used the full 2hrs and 40mins. Relatively easy quizzes/exams if you review notes beforehand. I didn't buy the textbook, never needed it. If you take notes you're golden! Overall my fav teacher and class so far!

Easy class for G.E. 3 tests and for final he gives you answers from first and second test.

Erv is a really great teacher who wants you to succeed in his class. He is a really laid-back teacher and knows his subject well. I wasn't that interested in the subject and he made it interesting. I would recommend taking him for sure.

Favorite class i've taken yet. Four years later, I still remember the cartoons and movies. Field trip to the waste water treatment center made me want to work in the field. Fun, easy class!

Erv is the best, this guy is fun to listen to, never talks too much, always has something interesting and insightful to say and the students will all agree. A great class and instructor! I used the book quite a bit to study for exams, but notes are fine for quizzes. Gardening and Cotati Critters for E.C opportunities make for a fun/easy grade boost. Tests are curved, and lecture is always interesting, though with the large class size, humble Erv won't tell the oblivious morons chatting to shut up.

Erv is the man. I spent the entire class on my laptop not paying attention and i somehow have a B in the class. I havent even unwrapped my book yet and my final is wednesday. I also really really want to smoke a bowl with him. Take this class

Really Really easy class!! He post all his lectures online just in case you miss class and you get a page of notes for the mid term exam!! Your whole grade is a project you create on any topic you choose and your final consists of questions from your classmates projects!! I hate science but I will definitely take Erv again!! Easy as pie!!

Yes, this class is considered easy, but because I didn't find the environment interesting I had a difficult time at first. A couple midterms that repeat test questions, and a few quizzes. Pay attention, come to class. If you study you'll be alright. I had an F and pulled out to an A. Totally do-able, and he's a sweet guy.

Super sweet teacher. Cancelled class a few times. You watch movies almost once a week in this class. Tests have questions from both lecture and movies. Overall very easy class, as long as you study somewhat for tests. One hw assign which was SUPER easy. Extra credit options too. I would highly suggest Ervand Peterson!

Oh Erv...where do i start! Erv is such a funny and interesting guy. I recommend you get to know him outside of class because he is such a great guy! He tends to make some test questions from lectures and movies, so i recommend that you show up to class regularly. As long as you do the assigned reading, you will do fine in the class!

Greatest class ever. I learned so much while having a great time. You can easily blow this class off and sit in the back on facebook, or you can sit in the front and engage with Erv while getting an Easy A. He tried so hard to help you get an A. (Posting the questions for the test on his door). No one should get lower than an A in that class.

Amazing teacher who is passionate about the environment and making a difference. Class was entertaining and full of useful information however the videos were used excessively and became mundane quite quickly. I would recommend this course to anyone who loves the environment and wants to learn what difference they can make

This is a very easy class; all you have to do is go to the class and take notes. Really, the tests aren't hard, and half the midterm questions are on the final exam. Basically, the only way you can fail this class is to not come to class! The book is almost useless, as all tests are from lectures and films shown in class.

He was an awesome teacher! So passionate about what he was teaching and really wanted us to learn. The class really opened my eyes to everything happening in the world. He taught us that even with all the negative things that are happening to our planet, we can each truly make a difference, and save our home.

Erv is probably one of the greatest teachers I've had at sonoma. He curves the tests so everytime I would fail the test I would end up getting a B which is really nice. He is so nice and even though the class is boring and the tests are kind of hard, I would recommend this class to anybody. Erv is the man!

I was honestly very sad when his class ended because his class was so interesting and inspiring. Because of his class i've been looking in the environmental studies major. Also dissapointed that he doesn't teach any other classes. Definitely recommend his class to anyone!!!

Erv is the best! This class was so easy. I took it from 7-9:40 on wednesday nights, so it was very long, but sometimes we got out early and he always gave us a break. We watched an educational movie every class. I learned a lot. Attendance is not mandatory, and I never bought the book. Take this class if you're looking for easy credit.

The movies are really interesting and he is really passionate about saving the environment! the tests and quizzes are hard but just make sure to study the slides!! i never opened my book once...

He is a great teacher, who mixes environmental science in the world as a whole. He relates the class so well and is realistic. He has weird pictures for his lectures, which might keep you interested (or just be plain weird). He has 3 quizzes, 3 exams and 1 assignment and 50 pts. worth of extra credit. If you pay attention, youll be fine.

Erv is great because he lives what he teaches. I had him for Environment and Technology in the Hutchins program and I couldn't have enjoyed it more. Maybe I benefited from the small class chats, but Erv is a wealth of knowledge about our planet. He made me re-think a lot of my wasteful habits. My favorite class in the Hutchins program.
