Dr.J is the best!!! Show up, do your speech and do well on the quizzes. and you have an A! He allows you to retake the quizzes at the end of the semester, so just save the questions answers after you take the quiz. The final is all of the questions put together from the previous quizzes. Write your speeches and do them! That's all it takes for this class. Don't read off your outline the entire speech and make eye contact with the audience and you'll make AT LEAST a B in the class as long as you decently on the 2 quizzes and final. Homework is easy. Had Dr. J for speech last summer. Please take his class. He is a great educator and a great guy over all. Easly the best professor at BCC Melbourne. His stories are hilarious and the work is minimal. I learned alot. If you take his class you will become a lifelong friend of Dr. Jackson.

One day I didn't feel like doing my speech, he told me it was fine as long as I watched a speech on youtube and wrote a short summary about it. Dr. J is great! I'm still in his class now. He always takes the time to get to know you. He's hilarious and makes learning speech fun. He doesn't care what you talk on as long as the speech is good. I advise you to take this class with him. It's worth the time and effort.

Basically Easiest A. My biggest problem is that he likes the sound of his voice way too much! All he does it talk about himself and is always talking about him being a pastor. I'm an athiest and almost take offense to all the christian talk but I just tune him out in class and get on with it.

He makes the class feel comfortable and doesn't ramble when lecturing. By the way, I've never heard "the poor black man" speech, just awesome speeches. ;)

Ervin C. Jackson is a name you'll remember. Funny guy, with great lectures. He's respectful yet honest. You will have to do 3 speeches, and 1 group presentation. 2 of your speeches and the group speech will be posted to YouTube for classmates to critique for a grade. Easy class. Fun as well. I would definitely recommend him over any other professor

Oh my gosh. I used to skip class in HS to get out of presentations and now Speech is my favorite class. He makes the class so fun and really puts everyone at ease. Always has great stories, makes us laugh, really explains. If you need Speech GET THIS PROF. I wish he was ALL of my Professors, it'll suck when this class ends.

He also provides great feedback by telling you what aspects of your speech he liked and what you can work on for the future. Frustrated that the final was a group project and we didn't get to pick our partners, which means if you have bad partners, you are going to get stuck doing most of the work. Class was very easy, just do the 4 speeches and take 18 easy, open book quizzes with unlimited tries. He was a little long winded on his faith, but it wasn't unbearable.

He grades your outlines pretty tough and is very picky about your presentations but is overall a great professor. if you take him over the summer expect a speech every week. I would recommend this professor for anyone taking speech.

I LOVE Dr. J! He's an awesome professor and his stories are really entertaining. I wish I would've taken it in the fall so I could have had him for 16 weeks rather than only 8. I only had 4 speeches and there's a quiz on every chapter in your textbook but they are done online and you can take them until you get a 100. Awesome class!

After every speech you do, he grades you on your strengths and growth areas which helps you realize what you need to work on. His lectures are interactive and he shares many interesting stories that make the class fun. He wants all of his students to pass with an A and gives many opportunities for extra credit.

This was a pretty easy class. All you have to do is show up, write speeches, and take a few online quizzes based off info in the book. Docta J is really nice and his lectures were entertaining.

I was very hesitant to take speech class. I even dropped the subject twice. Needing to graduate on time, I decided to face my fears and took speech on time on campus. Best decision I ever made. Even though there are 18 exams(quizzes) he gives you ample time to get it done. He is very inspirational and I am actually sad the class is over.

Take Ervin Jackson for speech and you won't regret it. I'm working to complete my AA and this was one of my last classes to take because I was dreading it so much. His grading is very simple, participation matters, There isn't much, just have to worry about quizzes. Which quizzes you can do at home on canvas. He helps you any way possible and his lectures are amazing. I recommend you to take this class, it went by quick and was really easy.

There are no restrictions on what topics you can choose to speak about. He is a very passionate instructor who wishes to draw out your passions as well. I had a lot of fun in Dr. J's class. He is religious (doesn't press on students, just is a minister but super chill) He is laid back and as long as you do all of your quizzes and do the speeches, you should pass with an A or B. He was my first college teacher and I loved having him.

Dr. Jackson was a great teacher. The modules were easy to follow and the homework consisted mainly of REVEL assignments, Discussion Boards once a week, and 4 speeches (2 with an audience, 1 without audience, 1 written). My only concerns were the timing it took to respond to emails and to grade assignments in the online course.

Dr.J is great! Just be careful with your visual aids, (big good quality pictures that take up the whole slide, few if any words) don't be late with your outline/speeches, and don't forget about the online quizzes based off the textbook. This course is great for a summer course, it's not at all overwhelming, but still very helpful.

Dr. J is a nice professor, but VERY inconsistent with grading. We only used the book for quizzes, and you will not need to access code. However, because of the grade inconsistancies I will not be taking him again. I learned a lot about speech with him as my teacher, but the grading was very annoying at times.

Dr. J is a great teacher. He is very nice and gives great feedback when you do your speeches, the feedback is very helpful.

Dr. J has been one of my favorite teachers. His class has been very easy for me and that comes from an anxious person. He is a great speaker himself and he really changes the atmosphere from a boring college class to an exciting lecture.

Dr. J is a really good teacher, but make sure to follow all of his guidelines to get a good grade on your speeches! He's pretty laid back, but it's not a class you can skip.

Fall 2017 is the first semester i have ever taken a Eastern Florida State College. I am glad that Dr.J was my first professor to introduce me to the college environment. Awesome professor highly recommend. Most defiantly made a positive impact on how much i enjoy going to college! I also want thank him for finding away to make learning enjoyable!

Dr. J is a great professor! I highly recommend him because hes easy going and if you have trouble speaking in front of an audience, he makes it possible for you to feel comfortable and just speak your mind. He has great lectures and many stories that are funny or that will have you on the edge of your seat!

Pretty good teacher, but REMEMBER TO DO YOUR QUIZZES! He barely uses the book so you have to do research and book navigation by yourself. It would help if he highlighted important pieces of text in the book to make the quizzes easier. Quizzes are the most perplexing part of this course.

Dr. J is such a great professor, he is an excellent speaker but also a listener. I think the lectures were all very creative and also an example of a good speech. He likes from his student the improvement, so if you give your best you're gonna have a good grade too.

Superb teacher. He's very laidback, letting you pick your own topic for your four types of speeches (small speech about you, informational speech, persuasive speech, and the group speech). He will also give great tips on what can be improved on. Only other assignments in the class are 18 quizzes that need a textbook. Rewarding and fun class overall

Dr. Jackson is a prolific speaker. He infuses his lectures with lots of personal stories that may have you captivated. Unless you like dry, straight from the book material. The purpose in Dr. Jackson's method is to make you comfortable and to get you to see what makes a great speaker, which is not to just speak on the topic but to make it personal.

I dreaded taking speech until I had Dr. Jackson as my professor. He was the best professor I have ever had. He was so respectful and kind and was there to help me with anything I needed every step of the way. If he taught every class I would take him! I promise you will not regret having him as your professor, I wish I could take this class again!

Great awesome teacher. His background is a Reverend, I learned how to speak and be less nervous about giving a speech. It's very informal class room, but do not be mistaken, you will be graded on giving 4 different speeches. PROTIP: ASK HIM ABOUT THE TIME HE WAS STABBED. This class you will learn first hand how to captivate an audience.

I thought I would have dreaded this class but he is a very interesting and awesome teacher. If I had a different teacher I would not like this class at all.

I am a dual enrolled HS student, my entire life I had heard that college professors will mostly lecture, give hard test, and that the last thing they will do is care about you and your grade in their class. I am pleased to say after being in Doctor Jays class, there are genuine professors and Im lucky to have had him my first semester of college.

Interesting lectures and stories used to explain different topics and easy to follow information. You wont really use the textbook in class but youll need it for the quizzes. If you put effort into your speeches and really try, its a pretty easy class to pass.

Dr. J is a very positive teacher that likes to tell stories, and he maintains a very relaxed atmosphere in the classroom. He doesn't dictate your topics or your tone, just the type of speech (e.g. persuasive). The book is only used for the easy online quizzes. There's a final group project for 25% of your grade, and he does grade for attendance.

His class is very entertaining. He is fair on his grading and if you turn everything in and do your speeches you will pass.

He was very positive and helpful until finals. Make sure you do the quizzes.

Dr.J is always very eager to learn new things. He gives really good feedback when we do our speeches to work for improvements. The feedback is really worth it shows to ourselves and Dr.J that we are trying. I would love to take his class again to be a better speaker. I 100% recommended taking this class with Dr.J.

As long as you do the assignments required the class is fairly easy. He is a fair grader and great teacher, highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to take speech.

I really love this teacher, he is funny and brings a lot of joy to my early morning class, made my day a lot better and his feedback is great. his speeches are easy, he isn't judgmental at all. You do get points taken off if you don't show up for class but as long as you do the rest of the work you will get a good grade

Dr. J is a really great teacher. I was terrified of taking speech because of my anxiety but he makes class feel welcoming and he makes speech not so terrifying. He is funny and caring. You give a total of 4 speeches, 1 being a group speech. Lectures are interesting.

If you are thinking about taking one of Doctor J's classes, then you definitely should. He gives helpful feedback on the three solo speeches, and you can tell that he wants you to become a stronger speaker. There are several quizzes but they can be done at home. There is also a group presentation. All in all, he was a great professor.

One of the best professors I have ever had, hes very easy and understands the struggles of everyday life. There are no in-class tests but there are quizzes you have to complete online. He doesnt expect to much from you, just the obvious.

I think he is a good lecture because he is a motivated speaker. This class is easy A grade because of group speech . The classroom environment was friendly. He motivated me to speak in front of people. I was able to build my confidence.

Gives good feedback and the class is really easy to pass. Most of the time hes late and talks for the first 20 minutes of class.

Doctor Js style of teaching is unique. Hes a friend more in a sense than a professor. Thats a good thing. He give back honest criticism in the hop you will succeed and prosper.

He is an amazing teacher. There were 4 speeches. 1 is 2 minutes, next is 5-7, and then the other is 7-10. The 4th speech is a group speech which is also the final. length is 25-40 minutes. You only need the textbook for the online code in order to do the quizzes which are all on quizlet.

Amazing teacher overall, very helpful feedback to improve my speeches as I went along. Every speech that I presented got better and better. As long as you attend class and just pay attention to the small tips he gives the class will be a breeze.

Dr. J is my first professor for a class that isnt online and I believe hell always be my favorite. On the first day, he created a very comfortable environment but also one where all types of people can grow. We only have 4 speeches and if you follow the guidelines you should do excellent in all of them. :)

He's an amazing and understanding professor. He'll try his best to help out in any way. However, expect to get a reply not immediately. I took his class online so it was fairly easy. Yet be aware of the McMillian Launchpad assignments. Tons of videos and quizzes to do. Fail to do them and your grade drops drastically. Good luck! Team effort :)

He is a great professor! He is very understanding and his goal is to get you to pass the class. The assignments are very easy you just need to make sure you do them. He is also gives good feedback on assignments. Overall, he is a very good professor and I highly recommend.

He is a pretty decent professor. He wants everyone to pass and the assignments were easy. However, a downside to him is that he will not reply to emails or respond weeks later. But, once you get the message across he is understanding. As long as you do the work it's an easy A.

i really liked him, some things I didn't enjoy is that he involved politics in lectures that didn't need politics, I'm here to get an education not someone's rants, other than that he is a great speech teacher and he makes it easy to speak in his class.
