Large class, yet he makes an earnest attempt in relating to students. Very dry personality, but I actually made the effort to speak with him he continually kept up on my progress in the class. Basically, if you're willing to make an effort it's worth it.

Econ is easy, but at least he makes it interesting. Very good teacher!
he rocks
Seems like a good guy. Nothing below the belt in this class. The lectures got to be a little boring since it mainly covered graphs and definitions but he tried his best to make them interesting. He seemed to be a little goofy at times but it just helped make the class less boring. Easy class if u go
He was a great professor who kept me interested in a subject which I did not think would interest me.
He was a great professor who kept me interested in a subject which I did not think would interest me.
I cant believe he has such a high rating....i find him to be completely irritating....ive only been in his class for two weeks and the sound of his voice annoys me...class is very easy, if you print out the powerpoint slides on blackboard it cuts down on notes. He seems to relate more to the males in the class. Also dismisses opinions or comments that he doesnt agree without reason....cant wait until the class is over. If you really want a good Econ teacher find Thomas Zinn
He tries to keep you interested, and wants the class to participate. He always accepts questions and feedback.
Straight-forward class. He gives easy scantron tests, not a bad way to get econ credit.
Dr. Erhardt is a cool teacher and he's humorous at times. It's sad that there's students in his class that sit around and interrupt him while talking and he has to stop every two seconds to ask them to be quiet. His tests are easy if you study the notes, and make sure you study the graphs.
Easy as hell, went straight from the book...if you come to class and pay attention, its an easy A...intresting fellow as well
Tests are straight-forward and lectures are interesting and informative. I'd highly recommend this professor, whether you've had economics before or not.
Makes class worth attending and takes the time to get to know his students. The tests are easy to ace if you go to class. Overall, a great professor and a great guy, too.
EASY! If you know the definitions and case studies from the book you will get a good grade! NICE GUY! If you have a question he will go out of his way to help you! GREAT TEACHER! He really cares about the students
If you use the book and just study the definitions and case studies this will be an easy class. Attendance is not mandatory but is helpful
I took his intro to microeconomics last year. He is a well-educated (has a Ph.D) nice man. He encourages students to come talk to him face-to-face. If you attend class and take notes on definitions, you will go far. Easy B, study if you want an A. I really liked this man and hope I have another class with him in the future.
His class is clear and straightforward. He is a little annoying and is constantly telling people to be quiet. You would have to be either incredibly lazy or stupid to not pass his class
I hated economics and failed it in HS and as a freshman my first year at UC. I took Erhardt my sophomore year and got a B+ on my first mid-term and I only studied for it for one day. This is a great class for people who hate or have trouble with Econ...just study the definitions and case studies and you will be fine. I am taking him again for 102!
Does anyone know what the first mid term was worth- He has not put it on the grade sheet- I did well, just curiousHe is a great teacher had him first quarter and now 2nd
I had Professor Erhardt for both Econ 101 and 102. He is a wonderful teacher, keeps things very interesting. If you study and show up you should do well!
GREAT Teacher, is dedicated to the success of his students and is a very nice person.
I had him for Econ 101 and 102. Just study the terms, case studies and graphs. Tests are easy but don't mess up on one because your grade is only made up of 2 tests and a final.
Professor Erhardt is an interesting and humorous guy, and a solid professor. He tells good, relevant stories to make points, and tries to keep things interesting. A lot of his humor and wit seems lost on the "too cool to care" crowd, but I got a kick out of a lot of it. Another student put it best- go to class, easy B; study a bit for an A.
he is a terrible teacher
the class was just okay. it was fairly easy, but the class was boring. but u can skip most classes and still get a good grade in the class, which is deff a plus.
The man is hardcore. When people talk out in class he makes them look ridiculous for doing so. He is a great teacher whose speaking style is captivating.
Don't talk in class, pay attention and you will love this guy. Very easy to follow, no calculations (definitions and graphs only), low textbook use, going to class a must. Very interesting, but does not accept people talking in class, (why should he?) Definitely recommend!
Quality professor. His tests are multiple choice with graphs, readings, and vocabulary. Guy's funny and honest.
This teacher is awesome. Tests are pretty easy, just know your defintions for the most part, responds to your e-mails, keeps class interesting with updated stories. And seems to cancel class on Friday sometimes.
At first I thought this dude was a hard-ass jerk. But he took the effort to get to know as many of his students on a first-name basis as possible (in a 120-person class) and grew on me. Definitely a funny guy, and cares about your personal progress and even asked me multiple time how my quarter was going & I'm not even an Econ major. Very cool dude
Probably the best prof out there. Come to class, don't talk and you'll get along great with him. He's very witty and knows exactly what he's talking about. Put some effort into studying and easy A. He even bumped my grade up a couple points because he knew I came to class.
Professor Erhardt is a great teacher, in that he knows how to relate the material to the sudent's everyday life. I can honestly say that I learned a lot from this class. If you go to the lectures all the time and get all the necessary notes, this class is a piece of cake. The tests are all directly from the notes making the book unnecessary. I rec.
Class was decent. He goes off on tangents a lot for absolutely no reason which makes it so not as much gets done in the classroom. One problem I did have with him is that I e-mailed him three times at the end of the quarter to discuss my final grade and he never once got back with me. Not a class act in my opinion.
In a large University dedicated to research the man wants his students to understand the material. It is not about whether the class is an easy A or not but that it helps you understand what is going on in your world. If you are not an Econ major this man can help you.
oh Erhardt. He's a decent guy, but he is the king of getting off topic. He tries to make jokes that no one understands, and then he complains about his life for half the class. Had him for both an 100 level and a 500 level class. He was clearer and more on topic for the 100 levels; I would not recommend him for an upper level economics class.
Do not need to buy hard copy of book just the 70 dollar aplia. Know all of the case studies for exams, which are all multiple choice. Takes attendance and HATES when you talk while he is talking or another student is talking you think he cannnot hear you but he can and he will call you out in front of the whole class.
Erhardt is awesome. Gotta love his dry sense of humor- not a lot of kids understand it, but that's only because they watch too much reality TV. He's hilarious, super nice, and he's a great teacher. Always show up (he takes attendance), read up on case studies and try to answer q's in class because he gets ticked when no one talks to him!
Easy classes. Copy down his notes and buy the aplia. He uses the case studies from the book for the test, and everything else on the test is from his notes he has you copy every class. He takes attendance every class and hates when people talk while he is talking. Answer questions in class, it helps him educate.
my favorite prof in college. he is an outstanding person, gets to know students on a personal basis, i've had two classes with the guy and i feel like he's a best friend. he even wrote me a letter of rec for pharm school. if you take notes and read the case studies you are guarenteed an A. and if you answer questions in class he will love you.
I knew nothing about Micro, and I still don't. He talks like you already know everything about economics. He'll go on tangents that I don't understand.
pretty cool guy. Do all his summaries and he will boost your grade.
By far best teacher I have had in college. Really gets to know his students and he is actually really cool. Great guy overall. Also makes class very interesting.
Great teacher, great person, easy, to the point. If you don't get an A in this class you need to question yourself. Like stated earlier: Copy down all the definitions he gives in class and review them before the exams, then read the minimal passages in the book he requires and you will do great. Get to know the guy, very good person.
He knows what he's taling about, very helpful guy and funny too
He is a really interesting professor and it makes everything he talks about-- interesting. If you don't know a lot about micro economics I would take his class. Weekly assignments are easy and you don't have to study much for testing.
You don't need a book. Come to class, and write his notes (all vocab) down. Do all you WSJ (they get annoying). Study all the vocab he gave you, that's exactly what's on the test (same order too)! If you come to class and do you WSJ, he may bump you up a letter grade at the end of the semester.
If you are a woman, DO NOT TAKE HIM. He favorites men over women to the maximum. He makes creepy remarks. He wastes the first 10-15 minutes going over the WSJ summaries which get annoying, but they do not read them so you can write down some random sentences. The tests are easy as long as you study the vocab. Correct version book is needed.
He's a great teacher who is funny. do the Wall street Journals and take notes. Tests are all definitions so fairly easy. High Recommend him!
Dr. Erhardt has easily been one of the best professors I've encountered here. He really cares, try to get to know him and just do the work. The A is easy to obtain.
Very funny and engaging. Really cares about his field and the students. Tests are really easy! If you have to take Econ, try to get him.
Though I didn't get A in this class, it is much better than I expected before. I really recommend you to take this course.
Not a bad class. The work and tests are easy as long as you take good notes. However, expect to be very bored in class if you are not a white, middle class male. He only relates to a very specific kind of student. I would be completely lost when his examples or stories depended on cultural things that I was not familiar with/cared nothing about.
his class is pretty easy. However, his voice makes me confused....
his microecon class is super easy. His notesdefinitions are long but helpful(2 exams) Online homework every week that is done thru online textbook so you at least need the online code. you can check your answers unlimitedly for the homework so you can get 100 everytime. 2 WSJ summaries due every class (tedious but not hard) Takes attendance daily
great professor
entertaining professor who has a lot of knowledge in his field and is not afraid to speak his mind. i recommend getting to know him and talking to him before and after class. he wants to get to know all of his students.
He is pretty funny and I thought the tests weren't too bad. Pretty much all definitions.
Great Guy. Funny, engaging, and the material is really not that difficult at all. Every class you have to summarize 2 Wall Street Journal Articles, and its purely extra credit. I did all mine and he bumped me from a B to an A-. Definite Take.
Erhardt was one of, if not the best professor I had my first year. Very very easy. Fun class, funny guy. Make econ enjoyable. Tests are all definitions. Show up and you get an A. Would take it again.
Very unhelpful, gives 2 test and then an accumulative exam at the end of the semester with over 300 definitions. Does not like to meet outside of class. Very boring lectures, often shows up unprepared.
Overall great professor, get to know him in and out of class. Absolute great guy. Show up and take notes and study and you will easily get at least a B in the class. Don't pay for the Wall Street Journals, you can just google them online. Great guy and fun overall class.
This is the class, memorize 500 definitions, then you take exam 1. After that you memorize another 500 definitions. But the exam is cumulative so you have to remember the first 500 definitions on top of the next set. His final is information over the ENTIRE TEXTBOOK of random definitions and meanings. Unless you study for 4 hours a day, good luck.
A nice and helpful professor that really cares about his students' performance. GO TO CLASS. This is the only way to get the notes for the exams, plus he really values participation. Stop by his office hours, if you ever need help. HW is easy, but doesn't really relate to what is being taught in class. Overall, good professor (funny at times).
Great teacher and very clear with his exams. If you study the material and complete the Wall Street journals, you should get an A.
If you can get a different professor i strongly encourage it. I'm confused how he has mostly good ratings, by far the worst professor i've ever had. He's very unclear and sometimes even offensive with his "jokes." There are 3 tests all definitions. Be prepared to know around 300 definitions, and to not actually learn. Seriously, switch professors!
Erwin Erhardt was by far the worst professor I've had at UC. His lectures were long & he would typically rant on about things irrelevant to Economics. Many of his "jokes" were very offensive. His tests are all vocabulary & there are only 3. 2 midterms worth 50% of your grade & a final worth 35. If you're wanting to actually learn econ, switch profs
Though the lectures aren't the most exciting, I really liked this class. You learn a lot about what's actually going on in the world, and it's a pretty straightforward class. Definitely show up for class and do the WSJs, because it'll boost your grade at the end. If you take notes and pay attention, you'll pass.
DONT USE YOUR CELL PHONE IN CLASS. Other than that great person and professor
Although his class may seem boring at first, his Econ classes are by far the easiest to take. The connect homework is a breeze, the tests are all very clear and objective. As long as you study your definitions and complete your WSJ articles, you are in great shape. He is also a very reasonable professor and doesn't make anything to burdensome1
Erhardt was an interesting professor. For Microecon, the class consisted of typing definitions from his slides and memorizing them for a total of 3 tests throughout the semester. Homework included online connect assignments as well as wall street journal summaries every class, which could get tedious. Overall though cool professor and easy class.
Such an easy class. If you come to class and do the Wall Street Journals you will be fine. The tests are ALL definitions and some questions from the WSJ. It is just memorization. Take him!
He is a great professor. he is fun to listen to and he is entertaining. He is very clear on what he wants and you will understand what he teaches.
Really cool teacher. Just do the Wall street journals and connect homework and he'll help your grade. Show up to class to get the definitions and study those 2 or 3 nights before and you will do good on tests.
Great professor. Learned a lot. If you reach out to him he takes the time to connect with you and help you if you need it or just chat with him. Tests are multiple choice straight from the notes you take in class. Homework easy and he sends email reminders to do it.
Fantastic professor, has a sense of humor. Provides real-world examples in his lectures. Makes sure that students are paying attention. Tests are multiple-choice which are basically the terms from the lectures. Assigns homework to read WSJ articles and has in-depth discussions about them in class. Makes economics easy and interesting.
If you don't respect teachers that won't let you use your phone don't take him. No talking in class or he will call you out and it's really awkward. He's a great guy though, he'll meet with you and get to know you and you van tell he genuinely cares. Homework is easy, tests are mostly vocab. Recommended to take Erhardt rather than another Econ prof
Nice guy. Makes some awkward jokes and is really strict about phone use and talking in class. Class notes are exactly what are on the test. You have to do Wall Street Journal summaries for every class.
Great Guy, He's constantly making jokes about fake ID's and how we all like to go out on Thursdays. Class work is minimal, just a 1 paragraph summary on a Wall Street Journal article due at the beginning of each class. 3 Tests all semester. 70 question multiple choice. I would recommend this class
It's like high school all over again. But it is an easy class, would recommend over any other teacher.
Can be strict about talking and using phones in class, but at the end of the day, he's a hilarious guy with a big heart. You can tell he really cares about the subject material and knows his stuff. Have to turn in summaries of Wall Street Journal articles at beginning of class, so attendance is important. Tests aren't bad. Highly recommended!
Pretty cool and funny. He is harsh on cell phone but people are always doing whatever on laptops. Likes to crack jokes to lighten the mood and wants participation. Not much homework but there are WSJ summaries due every class. The exams are just definitions from notes in class, and he doesnt try to trick you. Cool guy, and I would recommend.
Good guy, wont hand you an A but it is very doable. Would definitely go out of my way to have him.
Only a few tests all semester. Tests are mostly word for word vocabulary so it isn't that hard. Memorizing graphs are hard and class is boring. WSJ summaries due every class but are easy so it is easy points. Participation matters so go to class but you may fall asleep.
Tests are super easy. If you have common sense you will be fine. His lectures make a sandpaper dild0 sound fun. Do you WSJs and go to class, for attendance and the WSJs can/will bump you up 7 percentage points , sometimes more. He will come off as creepy but he's just a guy trying to get to know his students. overall, easy class.
Erhardt is an interesting guy. His class is really easy if you attend class and take notes. He gets sidetracked a lot and is definitely an acquired taste, but he cares about his students and is a really great guy. He's helped me out on multiple occasions. Had him for micro and macro
He is hilarious! He can be a little tough in his lectures and will call people out but if you're paying attention then it's not a problem. His tests are all multiple choice and straight forward so doing flashcards would be your best shot. He uses connect for homework so you'll have to buy it. Overall: Great teacher and wanting to help; Always!
Professor Erhardt thinks that he is funny. Let me assure you that he is not! It is such a chore to go to class just to hear him tell the same tired jokes. He treats students like babies-- often yelling like he is not an adult himself. Says he doesn't like to get into politics but finds a way to talk about it every class. Can be off-putting.
Erwin is the man. His class is straightforward and easy, he tries to make a dry subject like ECON fun and cracks jokes during class. Attendance is mandatory thou, but overall if you turn in your wall street journals and memorize definitions you'll get an A.
As someone who is sarcastic and enjoys dry humor, I figured I would enjoy Erhardt's personality and teaching style, but I was extremely wrong. He is one of the most ignorant people I have heard speak and he uses his class time as an opportunity to voice offensive and sexist opinions, often giving hour long diatribes that do not pertain to econ.
Good and clear system for homework and tests. Sometimes homework articles aren't emailed out on time, but overall he was consistent about assignments. Was very good at sending out emails and making expectations clear for assignments. If you participate in class and take notes, this course is very easy
Professor Erhardt really loves teaching economics and getting to know his students. He can be very off putting if you don't like quirky people, but don't let that dismay you about the class or his teaching quality. Come to class, do the homework, pay attention, and you will absolutely get an A. Fun lectures, easy tests, would recommend.
READ THIS! Doc Erhardt is the man. he is a great teacher who genuinely cares about his students even though he comes off kind of rude and thick skinned. DON'T TALK IN HIS CLASS. DONT TEXT IN CLASS. this man is a hawk. he will see you in a 100+ person lecture hall and HE WILL call you out. DONT DO IT. exams are mostly terms-its pretty easy. TAKE HIM
Although he may get off topic sometimes and make some questionable jokes, he is a professor who really cares about his students. If you go to class, you will do perfectly fine as this class is all about vocab, plus only one homework assignment a week. He is a very good professor that I will take again.
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Dr. Erhardt really cares about his students and does want everyone to pass his classes. Dr. Erhardt is extremely accessible outside of class, giving his phone number - along with very flexible office hours. There are two mid-terms exams each worth 25%, one comprehensive final worth 35%, and 15% worth connect homework. Do WSJs!
Although his sense of humor is a little different, he really does care about his students. If you show up to class and take notes, you won't have much difficulty in the class. Try to participate in class, he never forgets a face. This will help you at the end of semester when you're between grades.
I've taken Erhardt for Micro and Macroeconomics. His class is interesting and not difficult. Do the homework, show up to class, pay attention, and you'll get an A.
He just wants everyone to participate, and if you do he'll boost your grade at the end of the semester. The tests are just wall-street journals, vocab, and case studies out of the textbook. All of his lectures are vocab and he gives great real life examples to help you remember each word. 10/10 would take again.
This professor is great, he makes the class interesting and engaging and tells stories throughout the class to help tie in some of the big subjects you cover. That being said, its not storytime, participation is key in this class. Answer questions and make sure he knows who you are, if you do that you're pretty much set. Also, do your dang WSJ's.
Very funny, takes the class serious. Wants you to participate and show up.
Solid class and a great professor. Attendance is pretty much mandatory to pass primarily because we cover so many topics in a normal day. Prof. Erhardt does a great job of tying in real life events to the economic lessons we learn. TAKE NOTES EXACTLY AS GIVEN AND PAY ATTENTION, you will get an A.
Very easy professor. Homework assignments every week are online and you can just check the answer (multiple choice) until you get it right. Three exams all super easy just memorizing the terms with note cards and learn the graphs he tell you to from the powerpoints. Lectures are pretty boring but he's a good guy and brings in lots of examples.
I have no interest in economics but Erhardt made showing up to class very rewarding. Show up and take notes and you'll have no problem getting A's on the exams. Definitely a lot of opportunities to make up points. Super cool guy who loves what he does.
Honestly the easiest class I've ever taken. What got to me was how unorganized he was; he always had an excuse for being late but if you show up late he will call you out in front of the whole class like you're still in high school. Will ask questions, but if no one raises their hand in .5 seconds he gets mad. Everyone loves him because he is easy
He is a professor who actually really cares about his class and students. Only two tests and a final. All just on vocab and some extra notes you take throughout the class. First test was extremely easy, but second test is a little more difficult. If you study you WILL pass. He actually takes participation and only homework are summarizing articles.
He's the best college professor I have had up to this point.
A real character. I can't really explain this man, but I would recommend taking his class. The tests are exact copies of the definitions from the class notes. DO NOT TAKE THIS AT 8AM. Attendance is a huge part of your grade, along with summaries of Wall Street Journal articles that you turn in each day. Super simple, quizlet is your friend.
Good teacher
I love this dude. His class consists of mostly his zany antidotes. A very free flowing class. It's set up for you to succeed and learn.
great teacher if you are really good with definitions. his class is a lot of memorization.
The whole class we write down definitions and the test is basically just over the terms written down and the graphs reviewed in class. Homework due every Sunday night but it's easy and that's the only thing the book is used for. Occasionally we have to read a few paragraphs of case studies that he likes to talk about in class, Goes off topic a lot
He is a good professor. If you go to class, take notes, do the homework, read the articles that are assigned, also study your notes for his class then you should be in good shape, if you don't come to class and pay attention then his class wouldn't be to fun and easy.
oksy so this guy rambles about any and everything but if you go to class and take notes the tests are straight from the notes. easy peasy. there's a rough weekly connect homework that you have to do, but you can find a way around it easily. theres also a newpaper article summary due before every class but again - easy peasy.
Professor Erhardt is my favorite professor at UC. He is one of the best professors at easily getting a point across, his class is fairly easy as long as you take good notes the exams are just vocab and a few graphs that he goes over in class. He is a funny guy as he likes to sarcastically mess with students. Highly encourage taking his class.
Erhardt is a classic quirky college professor. Class is good for those who may not be as strong in econ, tests are memorizing definitions along with details from class. Class is long lectures. You read London Times articles that allow you to kind of know what is going on in the world. Tip: type your articles to reference when studying for tests
Dr. Erhardt is a great Microeconomics professor. Attend his lectures, participate in class, do your Connect HW and London Times article summaries, and memorize 50-75 terms for each test and youll succeed at his ECON 1001 course. Hes a hilarious guy who really cares about his students and wants them to be prepared for their future careers.
Erhardt takes attendance every class. He also assigns two article summaries every class, this semester it was from The London Times. The content is not hard, just show up to class and take the notes. The book is not required, but helpful for homework and case studies he goes over for exams. Homework every week, online. "Don't be naughty!"
Quality professor. Make sure to study notes/terms/definitions. Wall St journals are important to do because there are some questions on the exams. Lectures are interesting. Very traditional guy.
Its all about vocab and news articles. Quizlets are very useful. Also you don't really use the book but you have to buy it to do the homework.
He is rude in class. There were two midterms and a final. His lectures include reading definitions of terminology, really not a quality lecturer. However, he takes attendance and requires article summaries to be submitted for almost every class. Don't take this class if you're looking for an easy A.
He's not a funny dude. He tries to be, but all his jokes flop. The class itself is very straightforward. The tests are easy, 70% of it is word-for-word definitions from the lecture. Do the article summaries and show up to class. I don't think attendance was graded, but you'll fall way behind if you don't go.
Great professor, always keeps class entertaining. He's also a very personable man, always down for small talk before or after class and remembers who you are.
The class is very easy, tests cover all the definitions given in class plus a few other minor things. I used quizlet to take my notes all year and it helped a ton.
Overall decent class, but much more a world studies class than microecon. Dude is really fun to talk to, but switches between good time/light conversation and Batman voice within a split second. Do the articles or you'll fall behind, and focus on terms.
Dr. Erhardt can be a bit of a ball buster sometimes but its obvious because he wants his students to succeed. Participation really matters to him so don't be afraid to answer in class even if its just a guess. Hes extremely knowledgeable and is a really good time to talk to outside of class. Don't goof off though he'll call you out on the spot
Please dont take. He is an arrogant man who will yell at you for squeaking your chair or moving in your seat. The homework is garbage, I kid you not I was asked (In MICROECONOMICS) which "gadget" I thought would start the third industrial revolution. I am serious. If you want to stay up all night googling silly terms that dont help, take this class
Dude is funny as hell and he's pretty laid back. Homework was pretty easy. As long as you showed up you'd be fine
Erwin Erhardt will talk about literally anything that he can think of before covering the class material. Class involves him putting up vocab terms on the board while he talks about whatever irrelevant non-sense come to his mind. The tests are almost entirely vocab words though so you don't have to learn anything to get an A.
Dr. Erhardt is a really funny guy and is a pretty good teacher. If you use your phone in class HE WILL yell at you. He assigns a lot of 1 page papers due each class period and an online homework every week that's 40 questions long. You need to read the textbook and take notes to get that A. The online textbook costs $70 and is mandatory.
He literally only shows vocab words on a powerpoint and you just write them down. Sometimes he shows graphs. It's a very boring class overall. Would not recommend.
Dr. Erhardt is a good professor, but not only that, he is a good man in general. Many of the reviews I see on here are from people who most likely don't attend class much or care to learn the material. Yes in his class you can get away with learning almost just vocab, but if you actually take the class seriously theres much more. Great Micro class.
You definitely need the book, not to read, but for the access code that we use to do the weekly homework on. Also, if you talk at all in class you will get called out. Attendance is mandatory and you have to sign in and turn in article summaries every class, which also verify that you were there.
As a fifth-year senior in an intro class, I can honestly say that Dr. Erhardt is a good professor. Definitely a good teaching style for freshman. It's a weed-out class, so if you don't want to show up, do the HW or the article summaries, then don't take this class. Exams are mostly all vocab, so just make a quizlet and you'll be good!
He rarely taught us what was going to be on the test. He just rambles for three hours a week, so you kind of have to teach yourself. However, the tests weren't too hard so studying off the textbook is good enough.
I've had Erhardt for both Micro and Macro, and I think he's the best! What has frustrated me over the past year with taking his class is the lack of participation from the other students. His lectures aren't huge, so he wants people to be engaged. So yes, when every one stares at him when he asks a question, of course the class will be boring....
He's a great professor. He does call people out for talking or being on their phone but he explains why. He doesn't think it is fair for others to be distracted by it. He really cares about his students' learning and that's why he is so serious sometimes. He cracks some jokes (some are weird) but he's super nice outside of class. Make quizlets!
Exams are almost all vocab. We read easy articles before almost every class and have to have a summary ready. Overall an easy class if you do the homework and come to take notes. Exams are all definitions, articles, and graphs. Dr. Erhardt is a funny guy, but don't be on your phone or talking in class.
Had a 95% in the class until he decided to weigh grades the day before the final exam. Instead of lecturing, he spends most of the time either complaining about how he hurt himself, millennials, or other things that does not have to do with economics. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.
One of my favorite professors of all time! very knowledgeable of the subjects and very easy to reach afterclass. The class is a bit "vocab heavy" but I was still able to learn a great deal. I enjoyed the reading articles and the test/quizzes are pretty fair as well
Erhardt is hilarious, which is a good thing to be when you have to lecture a class of 300 students on economics vocabulary. Lots of people skip class, I would recoend not doing that as there is some vocab in class that isnt on the powerpoints. Highly rec Erhardt, hes a great guy as well. Had him for icro and macro.
He was a great professor I would definitely recommend taking his course.
If you come to every class, write down a summary of assigned news articles, make a quizlet of the vocab, then you will do just fine. He encourages students to speak during class, if you get the question wrong he doesnt care and just wants everyone to learn something about econ.
Class was easy. Just make sure you do your article summaries and connect HW and you should be fine. Tests are based on vocab that he gives in class and graphs that he goes over with you. Content can be boring and hard to pay attention but he does take attendance.
He is a good guy who sounds cool but teacher wise he needs to work on that part because he talks about everything that comes to his mind about the word and its hard to differentiate between nonsense and actual notes. Also, he never wore a microphone when walking around a lecture class of 100-120 students so it is hard to hear him.
Switching to online classes due to corona for him was awful. He had no clue how to work the tests (a few questions were blank and tests had nothing to do with what was covered in his notes.) Video lectures were pointless; he would read directly off the notes and then talk about something nonrelated.
He is a cool dude but he is old and very out of touch with reality. His class is one of the most boring classes I have taken but you need to go to class because you have to turn in article summaries everyday. There aren't many good econ teachers, so most people take him because the work is easy. I would not take him again .
Coolest professor. Tests are vocab based, so study your lecture notes. He gives you articles to read and write summaries about every week. These don't take long, and they are super easy points. He will round your grade up if you do your articles and show up to class!
This man made me laugh every time I was in the classroom whether he meant to or not! Don't take this class if you get easily offended because he will call you out if you aren't paying attention and will subtly mention his political views from time to time. He also expects lots of class participation and the tests are just definitions from lecture.
Great teacher with vocab based tests which are all easy. The only bad is the textbook purchase which was a waste of money and was never used for the exams. The corona transition was rough but we all survived it.
Erhardt is a great professor but it is a shame that he openly admitted to disliking teaching Economic Development, but he still gave it his all and tried to make it interesting. He is a great guy and has a lot of cool stories to tell. Don't buy the textbook, I never used it. His lectures were ok for this class. The hw is easy but there is a lot.
His class was terribly boring but overall his class was an easy A. He made us buy a textbook for homework but overall the textbook was useless besides the case studies in each chapter for the midterms.
Dr. Erhardt is a great guy and a genius. His course consists of: 1) writing a paragraph summary of a Times of London article before class 2) a boring lecture where he goes off topic for 50 minutes 3) Three easy word-for-word tests on the 10 minutes of material he actually teaches. You have to go to lectures, so just learn when to tune in and out
I loved being in Erhardt's class. He was interesting to listen to and gave great lectures. He has two midterms and a test, but don't let that discourage you. The exams are easy and mostly vocab and graphs. He loves getting to know his students and is there if you need any sort of help. He made microeconomics interesting and that is hard to do.
Professor Erhardt is very entertaining when it comes to his lectures. He likes to tell stories relating to the content in class, which overall makes it more engaging for the students. He makes sure we are ready for our midterms/final exam and will hold review sessions. I did the optional homework each week and I got a major boost to my final grade.
Lecture heavy, but the class is very straightforward. He tells you only what you need to know and there were never any curveballs.
He is horrible with technology and made assignment times confusing because he didn't know how to work the technology needed for them. Video/classes, you couldn't see him or the presentation, just the back of a projector. Tests covered information from the next chapter and the vocab that he covered in class that you couldn't access or see.
Very strict on test times, "if you cant make it drop the class." But not too much homework.
Erhardt is a professor that I think some people either love or hate. You can do well without over doing yourself, but if you apply yourself in his classes he will know and reach out to you! He can go off topic for lectures, but it is because he is passionate and wants to teach you everything he can. Talks about lots of real life events and examples
Goes over terms for test but the terms on the test are worded strangely. Graphs do not make sense. Only two test worth 25% of your grade then a 35% final. Nice guy wants the best for his students but the class does not have any reviews or interaction besides going over terms
He's a great lecturer who always tries to inform you about the real world implications of the lectures and focuses on making his class as informational possible. if you want to take economics classes take one of his
Great professor, I look forward to going to his classes.
Dr. Erhardt expects and wants participation in his class. He does this to make sure people understand the material. He offers extra credit to boost your grade up a letter, good attendance can also help a grade boost. He genuinely cares for his students and wants them to succeed. He can go off-topic, but there's something to be learned from lecture.
Funny professor, but if you don't take your notes and study them fully, you're not going to do well in his class. There are 3 exams that make or break your grade. As long as you show up to class and study hard, you will be fine. Lectures can get boring, but he makes jokes that help pass the time.
Exams are all multiple choice- just know the definitions and charts and you'll be fine- tons of great quizlets out there. Take advantage of going over the tests after with him, because it all repeats on the final exam. I barely went to class and still breezed through
Do all required assignments and readings and you'll be fine. I didn't like him too much because he talks far too much about politics and is very clearly out of touch. He intersperses anecdotes about "political correctness", "Cancel Culture", and "Vaccine Mandates" I don't care which way a professor leans politically, I don't want to hear about it.
He's crazy but in a good way, I was never bored with his lectures. His exams are mostly vocab/reading-based, not too hard. 100% make sure to do the extra credit, it will bump your grade up by at least a letter. Also, he is more on the conservative side of things and does rant a lot about current political issues, not always but it's often.
I took this class thinking it would not be too hard. Do not go into it with that mindset. It honestly seems like you know things and then you take the test and items you haven't talked about are on it. He is a really nice guy but attendance is a huge thing for him. He won't really fix your grade or give extra credit if you don't show up to class.
1 HW assignment each week w/ 1 EC assignment, 3 total exams from the notes/external readings. Hes intimidating at first but quite laid back and funny once you get to know him - attend office hours at least once! If you don't attend class you won't do well; there's tons of notes. He oftentimes inserts a lot of his political hot takes, however.
He cares his students but he has an old fashioned way of teaching and is very opinionated. You are graded by the mid term, final, and an 8-9 page term paper. His form of teaching is just making you take tons of notes. The mid term and final have 2 essays, 2 short answers, and 10 multiple choice. It is a 2 day exam and feels like an AP test.
I liked Dr. Erhardt in micro even though his class was very lecture-heavy, and he got off topic fast. However, he was very rude to most of my classmates in macro and wondered why no one participated. He gives three tests and crams a ton of material on them so be prepared to spend at least 5-7 days studying or you simply won't pass.
He can be very harsh on students and tries to hard to be friends with some. Attendance is HUGE with him, he will call you out in class for not coming. He gets off topic to often and for to long. He makes no sense. He doesn't post the notes so if you miss them in class you're screwed. You only need the textbook for the case studied. DO not take him!
Really nice and funny guy. Go to class, and take notes not just what's on the screen but when he rambles. If he is talking about a larger topic, just write down the main topic and do research in depth later. Test heavy and they are difficult, but he is always willing to help you out and talk outside of class.
Best Professor at UC. I would take him for any Econ class. Super open and friendly when you get to know him.
Seems like a nice guy, definitely knows his stuff, but he was always bitter/complained about things going on in his life. I honestly felt bad at times, but it was as if he would take it out on his students which just is not appropriate. If you miss a note, and go and ask for it after class, he won't give it to you- so yeah thats odd.
The class is graded by your mid-term exams and the final exam. The lectures are very note heavy. If you miss class or a certain term, he will not give you the notes that you missed after class. He is very old-fashioned and is very harsh on students. He also likes to bring up and talk about politics way too much in this class. Avoid his classes.
He gets off track way too much and then packs a lot of notes and vocabulary into his lectures. He is not afraid to call you out in front of the entire class if you do something that upsets him. He will yell at the class if they don't participate and then will judge your answers harshly if you do. Exams are VERY heavy on vocabulary too
Pretty standard microecon class -- Lectures off the top of his head from a vocab sheet. Exams are entirely vocab (abcd). Uses graphs to illustrate ideas when needed. Weekly online HW (easy). He's good at lecturing, has a bit of a temper, also leans right politically, although not too biased. If you're interested in econ he's a solid prof.
constantly talked about politics and was talked continuously down on us because we were gen z and possibly were not going to do well.
This professor is decent. You have to go to class especially if you don't know anyone else in the class. Lectures are boring you just write down definitions the entire time. Textbook didn't help me although you have to read articles from it for tests otherwise I wouldn't buy it. Overall, I would take his class again its pretty straight forward.
Go to class, know the vocabulary in the textbook, and do the weekly homework. He goes over material in the class that is not in the text book, and that material is guaranteed to be on the exams, even if it is not prevalent to the class. There is weekly extra credit, and doing all of it will have a tremendous impact on your grade. Super republican.
Heck of a guy. A little odd but definitely cares for his students.
He is a little tough, but extremely fair. Homework is easy. Tests are multiple choice on paper and everything on the exams, he talks about in class. Easy class, but you have to study terms in order to perform well on the exam. Read the articles and study the graphs, info from these will be on the exams. Great lectures, awesome class, cool prof!
Great professor! Really cares about the students and their understanding of Econ as it relates to real world not a textbook. Tends to bring up politics, but in ways that are relevant to what is going on. We read the London Times to get an alt/unbiased view of American Econ and current events rather than NYT or WSJ. Great prof!
Very mean professor constantly is lashing out at students and going on long rants that make no sense
One of my favorite professors in the business college. Took two of his courses, would have taken more had I not switched majors out of the college.
Very very republican. Yells at class for no reason and drones on about nothing. the entire class time we just lean definitions.
I have never felt the need to post on this site until having this professor. He was arrogant about his knowledge and ignorant about modern entertainment economics. Defiantly wouldn't recommend.
Professor Erhardt is one of the best professors I've had at UC. The class is very straightforward, if you go to class and study the vocab terms you should be fine. He gives many opportunities for extra credit and those assignments will help your grade substantially. The lectures are also very engaging.
I dropped this course my junior year, Professor Erhardt is basically described perfectly in every review on here combined. This professor will go on these pointless lectures and complain about how terrible the world is in a class I'm paying to take. I would not recommend this professor at all.
Dr. Erhardt has his quirks. He would often go off on tangents about his very right-leaning world view, and PAY ATTENTION when he does. He'll slip a couple questions on the exams that ask about very specific things he said in class. Speaking of exams, there's three and they're worth 85% of the grade. Overall, interesting guy and an interesting class
Look. People here are correct that Erhardt leans heavily to the right politically, but as a liberal, I wasn't really bothered by it. He does go on tangents. However, the class was easy. Go to class. You'll pass: genuinely. Homework allows infinite attempts. Attendance didn't affect grade too heavily. I respect him even though we disagree on alot.
The class is lecture heavy. He will talk about a lot of different stuff, a lot of it connects to economics, but sometimes he will go more off topic. He also gives good life advice. His tests are straight up. The tests consist of all the vocab for those units, case studies, and graphs. If you listen in class and make sure to study, you will be good.
Amazing Irish accent.
I took Professor Erhardt for Micro and Macro economics. Weekly smart book homework, and weekly extra credit. He gives out 2 midterms and a final each term, majority of test is vocabulary and a couple graphs and history. Take this class if you are good at memorizing.
This professor is definitely a difficult professor at times; however his class is amazing. He knows Economics in and out and really enjoys sharing the information with the students. No book you have to pay for, and class is interesting. I recommend doing the extra credit and tests and vocab heavy
Dr. Erhardt can be very scary but he doesn't want that to be his reputation. The subject is hard which makes the class hard but he genuinely wants to teach and wants his students to engage. Laugh at his jokes and show up to class and I promise you'll be fine.
Prof. Erhardt is an extremely intelligent man, but his teaching style is just a little old. He does not use Canvas or other tech to his advantage. He talks in low and monotonous voice, which is difficult to understand. He was not very organized. Nevertheles, he is knowledgeable and respected in the field.
Great professor just attend every class. Study all the material especially the in-class notes which are all vocab, but his tests are easy (all multiple choice) if you study. Do his extra credit assignment you get one every week, it takes awhile but do it your grade goes up by 5%.
Dr. Erhardt is the BEST Professor I have had at UC and he truly enjoys his job. He is a very fair and straight forward teacher and loves to express his opinions and crack jokes. His class consists of taking notes, doing online assignments (some extra credit) and reading articles online. Class is mandatory but he is understanding if you're honest!
Dude is not a good teacher at all and gets off topic super easy. He has about 2-3 class pets per class and will ask weird questions and comments. For example, one day he started talking about how he would see us at the bars and wanted to see fake IDs and started talking about his parents house. I learned more from YouTube videos than his class.
Professor Erhardt's class is a bit of a wild ride - he loves to go on tangents, but the content is manageable if you stay engaged. The tests are straightforward if you study the vocab and notes. unstuck ai was a lifesaver for prepping.
He is a good guy but your grade is defined mainly by the two mid terms and final. Outside of class you get an assignment each week and some extra credit that both can take time but you get a 100 on them as long as you do it. He is strict about phones and you do not want to be late on a test day. I would take him again but only if I had to.
Professor Erhardt was a good professor, very lecture heavy and notes and graphs. He often cracks jokes during class. He is very knowledgeable with economics. Definitely make sure you study the vocab, case studies, and graphs for the exams.
Very weird professor!!! He invited me to his office for one on one chats on multiple occasions and I made the mistake of going to one of them. He made comments about my sex life and other very personal and disturbing things. At one point telling me to lift my shirt up. I would have reported him but didn't want to go through any legal processes.
Very weird guy. One of his favorite bits is asking the class a question and when nobody answers he'll yell and say "I'm not asking you all what pornography you watch!" He also seems to enjoy calling his students naughty, and makes uncomfortable comments about their social lives. Not a very difficult class but this guy's ego is huge and he's weird.
Professor Erhardt said and I quote that he would “pistol whip” any student that would ask him for a letter of recommendation to the FBI.The professor would often yell violently at students who were on their phones, and complain about the students who would skip class or leave to use the restroom, and ramble about his personal life and opinions.
If you enjoyed strict high school teachers, you'll love his classes. He often stops class and will yell or berate students for being on their phones or for even having their phone out on their table. Goes on long inappropriate rants which takes up time in class, then he acts surprised when students go on their phones or don't pay attention.
The guy is clearly going through a cognitive decline and takes that out on his students. He's extremely inappropriate too like others are saying. He needs to retire, his time is up
He always goes off-topic; you never know when you should or should not pay attention. He constantly makes inappropriate and unnecessary comments about seeing students out at bars and fake IDs. He blames students for doing badly on tests even when the test average is a D and does nothing differently or more to help students improve on future tests.
When the class doesn't participate, he makes comments like, "It's not like I'm asking if you watch pornography." or "Watch out I might show up at the bar and ask what state you are from." When grade averages are bad, he blames the students and talks about how it's not his fault, and it's because no one studies. Could write a paper on how bad he is.
This professor is genuinely un pleasant. His class is all dependent on tests 2 two midterms and the final. there is weekly homework but it is basically not worth anything. He is very rude over email and in person too. He will call you out about you bad exam grade in class in front of people. I personally would never take him again.
Lectures are extremely boring, and the only grades that matter are the tests and the midterm. The tests and midterms are extremely easy as long as you put in the time to study the definitions. To get good grades all you have to do is show up to class take notes and memorize all the definitions and graphs. really not hard at all.
I took him for Macro and Micro. His exams are fairly easy, all multiple choice. He offers extra credit. I highly recommend using Quizlet when taking notes on definitions, that's the majority of his exams. Study case studies, articles, and definitions and you'll do great! He truly cares about his students, especially Econ majors
Erhardt is the best professor I've had so far. I had him for macro and micro. He can be a bit brash at times. He genuinely cares about his students and makes an effort to make a connection and remember each of his students. He's extremely knowledgeable. Tests are pretty easy if you show up to class and take notes. Vocab heavy.
Erwin is a fun guy. He gets 4 big booms. BOOM.BOOM.BOOM.BOOOOOOOOOOM
I had him for both microeconomics and macroeconomics. Since the class itself isn't difficult, he is more tolerable. Professor Erhardt makes weird comments and shows heavy political bias.
Dr. Erhardt couldn't have been a better professor. He was nice and very welcoming throughout the semester. Definitely try to participate during lectures; the last grade of the semester is "instructor points" that he fills in after the final exam and they're entirely based on whether he likes you or not. If you want more points, participate.
He tries to relate to all of his students, has great stories that relate to what he's teaching, and he's an absolute beauty.
Shows political bias. Everything he tells you to review will be on the tests so make you sure you do all of the readings and take notes in class. He has a temper for sure and one time before my exam a student came in 10 minutes late and he yelled at him in front of everyone while the test was going on. Completely unprofessional.
Erhardt just goes on angry rants that are very right wing focused. never stays on topic in terms of econ as well and its hard to follow what he talks about. tests are easy if you do the connect assignments but he is extremely painful to listen to in class.
The guy is 50/50. Clearly well-versed, one minute he could be telling the class some very insightful and helpful info, but 2 minuets later he is rambling about conspiracy theories and stuff. Will yell at students for making the slightest bit of noise during lectures but then has no problem going off on a student at max volume during an exam.
I was not a fan of this class. We had mandatory attendance, and majority of the time would hear vulgar things from him (like calling us "naughty") or random stories that did not correlate to economics. The tests were very difficult and everything we took notes on in class was simply definitions and vocabulary, which made tests harder.
This man has an old style of teaching. Your grade depends on the 3 exams. The exams are made up of about 70% the notes from class, 20% case studies he'll have you read throughout the semester, and 10% just some graphs you need to understand.
Erhardt was an awesome professor and had a clear grading criteria. His homeworks and readings are very easy but important material for exams. There are only 3 exams so don't fail any of them. He offers extra credit but tbh I never needed it this class is an easy A+ if you just go to class and study. Simple.
Funny guy....sometimes....Very hard class you have to put in a LOT of work.
As I write this, I am currently taking Professor Erhardt's MicroEcon class and just finished the 1st midterm. Though he is knowledgeable on material, he doesn't come to class prepared, never knowing where he finished last lecture. His class is just reading definitions off of a paper. Very politically biased and always goes off on meaningless rants.
Makes the class unnecessarily difficult and takes pride in it. I'm not asking college to be "easy" but this is literally only intro to microecon. attendance matters even though there's no mention of it in the syllabus. constantly going on unnecessary political rants. Has a history of being inappropriate. easily the worst professor i've had in UC.
Probably one of the worst professors Ive had, almost always starts off class with yelling and complaining about students in a completely unprofessional manor. He makes it extremely hard to focus in class especially since he just reads off papers he shows on the screen. I would never have taken this class if i knew how terrible of a teacher he was.
Dr. Erhardt can be intimidating sometimes, but it's only because he cares. He's a kind person who works with students if they put in effort. Tests aren't too hard and the amount of homework is average. Dr. Erhardt offers extra credit opportunities from the beginning, so just show up to lectures, do the work, and try to attend a few office hours.
Overall, Erhardt cares a lot about his students and wants them to do well. He gives extra credit from day one and his homework/ tests are fairly straightforward. That being said, every lecture is just definitions followed by political rants, which makes it hard to stay focused. If you attend class and participate, you'll be fine.
Lectures were just definitions and reviews over case studies/random news articles that deal with economics. You're expected to answer questions in class and he'll get frustrated if you don't. His class is easy but he makes it hard to like him. Show up, participate, do your work, and his class isn't bad.
The worst professor I've ever taken a class with. Very discriminating and completely unprofessional.
Never take this course with him I took macro the sem before and it was a breeze however I realized he was sick half of the semester hence why it was tolerable he yaps a lot and goes off topic I am someone who cares a lot about their grade and I'm not complaining due to being hateful. I'm just saying save yourself and don't take this class with him.
Dr Erhardt is a bit intimidating and he talks fast, so it can be tough to follow him at first. The class is based on three tests for the whole semester, but he gives extra credit for showing up and doing the homework. His exams are definition for definition, and there are plenty of Quizlets that match his material. Not hard to pass if you study.
