Solid choice for Comp 108. Covers all info for the tests in the lectures. The coding side of the class is just very basic Java and HTML concepts. When coding for the class he goes fast for some people so just tell him to slow down and ask questions if you get lost. Gets grumpy if you talk even slightly during class, but still an overall nice person
ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS AT CSUN!!!! My favorite. So inspiring. I really admire all his work. Makes the class really engaging by showing you all you can do with CS.
Truly excellent professor, one of the best I've ever had. I had no prior knowledge of computer programming but he explained all of the concepts so well and made the subject accessible. Exams directly correlated with the material taught in class. Does everything he can to help you learn. Highly recommended professor & class.
Professor Nikjeh is the best professor I have ever had. He explains everything with the upmost clarity, is always willing to help you out if you have questions, and is extremely laid back. As long as you do the homework and lab, the exams are fair as well. I learned a lot from this class specially Java programming. Overall, highly recommended.
Nikjeh is awesome!! He is the best professor I've ever met! The lectures are clear and he will help much on our programs. I like CS and I like him! Besides, he is so nice and I learned so much about Java programming!
Don't hesitate to take one of his courses. Does everything he can so that you learn the subject, and goes out of his way so that you succeed in the class. Always nice and helpful.
Professor Nikjeh is without a doubt the best professor I have ever had. I'd never taken a CS class before and he made everything so clear and cohesive. He is always available and willing to help. I learned a lot this class like Java programming and web design. I will definitely be taking his classes again!
Prof. Nikjeh is genuinely an awesome professor. He cares about his students and their education. He realizes that you too are a human being and it carries over when he works with you. He is extremely helpful and will go out of his way to help. If you ever have the chance to have him as a professor take it.
This is the clearest, most helpful professor I have ever had. Period. Some of his assignments are harder for a lower level class, but they're doable and you learn a lot in one semester. He's very good at helping you understand the "why's" on everything CS, which helps the information stick much better. Go out of your way to take classes with him.
Very nice and helpful. I learned a lot in this class. Like java and webdesign. His lectures are great and gives handouts. I will take again, any course he teaches.
Prof. Nikjeh is a great CS instructor at CSUN. I really enjoyed and learned a lot from this class. He is very friendly and helpful. He will work it out with you. 10/10.
Prof. Nikjeh is an excellent prof. He really explains with full enthusiasm and seems to enjoy every aspect of his job. I've never had someone like him and it's quite refreshing. It would be great if more profs were like Prof. Nikjeh. I learned Java programming and web design.
Esmaail was always going out of his way to make sure I understood the material and was able to complete the assignments. Extremely helpful and always around - will make sure you understand the concepts. I will take him again. 10/10
His lectures are pretty heavy as there were times where I did get kind of bored just sitting there writing non-stop, but his labs however were a lot more productive and I honestly felt I learned a lot through the labs. Exams based purely on lectures and are multiple choice. Study lecture notes and do the lab assignments and you will do just fine.
Great Professor! Clear with all lectures, answers all questions and concerns. Gives extra credit, but you must work a little hard to get that A! I learned some Java programming and web design which is fun.10/10
He is one of the best CS professors you will ever take. He comes off so relaxed and chill, and breaks down complicated things to be easily understood. The best CS professor I've ever had. I had to take COMP108 and without hesitation, took his class and made my schedule fit it. Super nice and helpful.
Nikjeh is an awesome, incredibly intelligent man. He really knows his material, and presents it clearly and effectively in lectures. Sometimes class is boring, but he is funny and makes lectures entertaining as well. I would highly recommend him for any CS courses. He had me well prepared for exams and any homework material given.
An ok professor, I had his class at 8am and he showed up to every class(except for the last day)about 20 min late including the very first day which was frustrating. His lectures can be boring but if you pay attention and take good notes you'll be fine. The labs were pretty easy. He posts all the lectures online. He's very knowledgeable.
Very clear during lecture, quick to answer questions, very intelligent and helpful. Studying is a must, as the second midterm I got a D when I decided to skip a few lectures and not read, but my first midterm & final weren't bad since I actually worked. Prof. Nikjeh gives you the tools you need to get a good grade, but it is up to you to hone them.
Great professor. Clear with the concepts. He writes a lot in the class with good examples. That's of great deal and very informative. He is very nice and helpful. He dropped the lowest test score and replaced with project. I learned a lot in this class.
The clearest teacher I've ever had. Down-to-earth, witty, and ridiculously smart. He's extremely helpful if you ask him questions, because he knows what the root of your misconceptions are. This guy is awesome.
Great class, the professor cares about his students and genuinely wants everyone to do well. Class covers some basic computer science concepts. Weekly assignments, moderate amount of work. If you are a CS major, assignments are not a problem. Overall I learned a lot. He is supper nice and helpful.
Lots of resources to help you succeed. Clearly outlines the material and lectures are easy to follow. Useful if you have prior programming experience for the Java part. The midterms and final are fair. Prof. Nikjeh is extremely friendly and willing to help. HW and labs are generally easy.
I love prof. Nikjeh. He is the most ideal form of a professor: explains concepts well, curves nicely, reasonable exams, and cares about his students.
Very clear lectures and very helpful when stuck. Good course taught by a very good teacher and you will learn a lot. He is super nice and very knowledgeable in CS.
Nikjeh is the most enthusiastic and definitely the best professor I've ever known. It's very obvious he has put more efforts into teaching this course than most other professors, and he did a great job in getting his students excited about computer science.
Prof. Nikjeh is an amazing instructor. Every time I needed help he made sure I understood what he was saying. His knowledge is like a never ending for loop. Infinite.
Of all the professors I've had, he by far cares the most about his students, and not just about if they pass/learn. I learned more from this class than I have from any other. Best professor I've ever had.
The class can be tough, especially if you don't have much experience coding, but prof. Nikjeh does a great job of introducing the material and walking you through it. Go to the lectures! Some of the material is tough to learn on your own. Nikjeh's lectures are very helpful. I learned some Java programming. Best prof I've had so far at CSUN.
Prof. Nikjeh of my favorite teachers at CSUN. Do yourself a favor & go to his classes. He is one of the nicest guys, & if you put in the time & give him all you have, he notices & will make sure you do not fail the class. He teaches Java which is one of the best tools you can have for the future, & he wants to make sure you know how to use it.
He was one of the best professors I have ever had. I was iffy about my CS major in the beginning but having the intro class taught by him kept my in it and interested.
Great Professor, I enjoyed being in his 8 a.m. class. He knows what he is talking about. His tests are literally in the study guide he gives out. I literally studied off that and got a good grade. He is willing to help if you ask for help and also make sure you take advantage of the tutoring sections he gives before an exam because that will help!
Prof. Nikjeh is one of the nicest professors I've ever had. But COMP256 is not really his strong suit. Lectures are long and he is not the best at explaining concepts. Exams are tough too but they are well laid out and based off of lectures and homework so make sure you do the homework and take good notes. But if it's online, he records everything.
Best introduction to CS and programming imaginable. Excellent and nice teacher, really prepares you for the next CS class. Wish he taught more classes at CSUN. Everything in class is with paper, pen, and Java compiler for the programming part but you end up learning the concepts very thoroughly.
He is a great professor. He wants you to know all detail of the class and gives you enough information to do it. If you study you will get an A or B. Attendance is important. An easy class as long as you listen to him carefully and study. I will definitely take his class again. he knows what he teaches. Super nice.
If you're studying Comp Sci at CSUN he is a MUST. He takes his job seriously and works very hard to make sure everyone understands. He cares about his students so much and actually has passion for his work. I learned Java Prog. and HTML in his class. Take this teacher if you want to learn.
Nikjeh is an amazing professor. It's very clear he cares a lot about his students and making sure everyone to succeed. There's a some of coding you need to do outside of class, but it's usually not difficult if you go to class.
The best CS professor I met so far. He knows what he is teaching and quiz and exams are straight forward. You will learn a lot from this class. If you pay attention during lectures you're good. The homework is far more difficult than the tests.
Prof. Nikjeh is passionate, clear, and tried to break down things to make them accessible and not intimidating. I highly recommend this class and this professor.
Professor Nikjeh works many extra hours to help students debug their homework and make sure they understand the material. And you can tell that he truly cares about his students. His lecture is extremely well planned and you could benefit from every minute of it. I learned Java and web design. It was a fun and informative class.
He understands exactly what he's talking about and has everything planned out ahead of time. On more difficult issues, he provides lengthy and complete explanations. He also provides a wealth of extra resources for individuals interested in learning more about computer science. Overall, this is a professor who is well worth your time.
COMP108 is a challenge if you haven't had any coding experience before, and even if you have, at a minimum it is very time-consuming. Nikjeh is awesome though, always there to answer questions, makes sure to go over challenging topics multiple times, and makes lectures/homework interesting.
You will learn a lot about computer science from him; he is a really easy-going teacher who is very transparent and supportive. He usually has a multiple-choice midterm and offers very useful, simple extra credit opportunities. Basically, if you see him teaching a subject, you should sign up for it.
Prof. Nikjeh is an outstanding teacher. He made the material engaging, approachable and relevant to real-world applications. He is also very knowledgeable and available to help outside of class. I highly recommend taking his class!
An excellent professor, he provides clear, focused teaching, and fair tests that focus on subject material that was taught in class. I learned a lot from his class about Java programming. He walks during the lab and helps you with the code.
One of the best CS profs at CSUN. Very organized and informative lectures. Keeps everyone attentive with random humor and gives very good examples. I would not want to take COMP256 from any other prof! He really wants everyone to do well. I enjoyed the Lab part of this class with extra credit. He is very helpful and answers all questions.
Take his class. I mean it. Nikjeh changed my view of computer science forever. He matches his ridiculous intellect with kindness and understanding towards his students, and to top it off he genuinely wants everyone in his class to succeed and learn programming. Put in the work and you'll do just fine.
As always professor Nikjeh shows great interest and truly cares about how his students are doing. Unfortunately, a couple programming assignments were more difficult than originally intended, but graded accordingly. Extra credit is always available. Take all his courses!
Prof. Nikjeh is exceptionally witty, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient. I cannot emphasize enough how amazing of a professor he is. I absolutely adore his class, even though it was challenge for me. He consistently provides support, and labs are truly exceptional. Extra credit during the labs is available; make sure not to miss out on them!
1. He put lecture notes on Canvas. 2. He covers topics other 256 professors don't cover. 3. Unlike other 256 professors, he collects and grades homeworks and weekly labs. Offers extra credit to do examples on whiteboard 4. exams are hard (depending on topic), but worst one isn't counted. If you do the homework and labs, you can do the exams.
I LOVE Mr. Nikjeh! He is extremely caring & a total sweetheart. His teaching method is amazing and you learn a lot. If he taught more courses, I would definitely take him for all of them.
He's a nice, humorous guy who seems to really care about making sure students understand the material. Labs, HW, Exams, Programs. However, the distribution of points is even and fair. Good instruction. Always helpful.
Prof. Nikjeh is probably the best professor I have ever (and I've had many). Take his course, do the study problems before the exams, and you should 3.6-4.0 the class with ease (but remember, you HAVE to do the work)
Excellent teacher. I enjoyed taking this class and had fun plus learned many things. Teaches you exactly what you need to know for the exams and what you need for your next classes. Many opportunities for getting extra credit. I hope he teaches the other CS classes.
I loved his mythology class. He was funny, made the subject matter engaging, and was full of great information. Would absolutely take his class again.
He is a great prof. I highly recommend him. He is nice, funny, and makes the concepts easy to understand with many examples. There are many opportunities to get extra credit.
Nikjeh is one of the best teachers in the CS department. He is incredibly clear and makes the class very easy to follow. His tests are fair and not too difficult. Definitely worth taking! Offers a ton of extra credit during the Lab, so it's pretty hard to fail.
One of the best CS professors I have ever had. He is super caring, unironically funny, and his class is always a good time. He truly cares about teachings, and wants his students to succeed. His lectures are packed with information but all of which is important. He is extremely intelligent and very easy to talk to which is always a plus.
He's a great professor and very knowledgeable! It's pretty much lectures with great examples, notes, and test reviews which are helpful. He also puts the reviews online to look at so make sure to study those!!! But if you're very interested in computer science, he's a great professor for any of those classes. Lots of extra credit.
This is one of the best teacher's I've ever had. I love going to his class. He has a very grounded and professional, positive attitude and makes COMP256 interesting, making it my favorite class. He's helpful and explains things perfectly. Great professor.
Great prof, extremely knowledgeable about CS. Fun class, study Lab, lecture examples, get an easy extra credit, and you will do fine. Def take him for COMP256!
Amazing prof. Funny and fun and learning a lot. Keeps things interesting. Study and you'll get an A. Best prof I've had at CSUN. DEFINATELY TAKE HIM FOR COMP256.
Amazing professor. Couldn't be better! COMP182 was an amazing class, so I took him for COMP440, and I liked him just as much, if not better. Take him for any class that you can. He is an asset to CSUN and he loves his students. Really fun. Easy. Fun!!
Professor Nikjeh might be one of the best CS professors at CSUN that I have taken so far. He is one of the very few professors who codes in class and runs and debugs it to help students understand better. He made COMP 108 a fun and enjoyable experience for me and my classmates. We all grew to be good friends thanks to his class.
Prof. Nikjeh is one of the best professors at CSUN. You will learn a lot. He offers many extra credits during the labs. Don't miss them. He makes the course interesting and fun. Tests are based on the lab. assignments. I would definitely recommend him.
Professor was pretty good in my opinion he wasn't bad at all he just copies on the board from his notes, so he really doesn't explain anything just make sure to ask him a lot of questions he is very approachable. During the lab you can get a lot of extra credit which is good. he gives 4 tests, a final, and a assignment for every chapter.
He's nice, but his lectures are really boring, I wish he could have been a bit more enthusiastic. The class is really easy, and there's a lot of tests and they are based on the lab and he curves them as well. Labs are fun because you get to collaborate with other people. Overall it's a review of the useful math in CS, it's an easy A.
Great guy! Makes the class interesting. If you read the lab problems the tests are easy. Come to class and utilize what he says, you will learn and enjoy the class! Great prof, i would recommend him to anyone! CS major or not!
This professor gives plenty of credits and his exams as well as teaching are also easy. He helps whenever we need and motivates everyone for course.
This professor helps whenever needed and provides many extra credits. He also grades lightly and motivates everyone.
I was lucky to take his classes. Prof. Nikjeh is a very interesting speaker, great teacher, very knowledgeable. He will make you think. Yes, he will ask you to write a code without any books or notes! Good sense of humor. Nice personality.
Let me just say, WOW. I thought this was going to be my hardest class of the semester and would dread going to it, but Nikjeh's infectious smile and bright eyes made the class my favorite. He has a great knowledge in computer science. Overall very cute and knowledgeable. :)
Professor Nikjeh is a sweet guy and will help anyone to do well in his class. His class is extremely easy if you study his lectures & lab problems. He is knowledgeable about Discrete Mathematics! He gives a lot of extra credits, it is almost impossible to fail unless you don't read or study his notes & lab problems. It is a fun & interesting class.
Good class. He can be a funny guy sometimes and he is a good teacher with a good grasp on the subject. He will help you if you have a question and always returns work quickly. Oh, and he gives plenty of extra credit during the lab work, which is very helpful. Do not buy the book, his lectures are great. Never a dull moment.
Nikjeh was the best teacher I had in CS. His class was funny and education, he had a great sense of humor, a voice that commands attention and he was able to keep a math class alive with great stories that were interesting and educational.
He is a great teacher and you would be VERY lucky to have him. He has a cute sense of humor. Very energetic during lectures. He slowly and thoroughly goes over everything in his lectures and is extremely prepared for lectures.
Dr. Nikjeh is a very great teacher, his lectures are very clear and understanding. If a question is asked about the lecture he will make it a priority to make sure that you get your question answered and clarify any troubles that you had from the lecture. He also hands out worksheets for the lab. I enjoyed the class.
His lectures are great. I learned the Database management systems from scratch, I ended up with an internship at a company. I absolutely recommend him. You will learn and end up with a good grade. Very nice person.
The best you're gonna get. He is very caring and accommodates students. Everything on tests is from Lab and homework that is covered in lectures and the same final. Lectures are great, you learn them in the class.
Prof Nikjeh explains things well. Idk why some people think he goes too fast--since he handwrites instead of using slides, it's actually a reasonable lecture speed. There's quite a bit of homework but it's completion-based & Lab is in class and really helps with the exams. Would recommend, unless you are really bad at math.
His grading and teaching is MUCH better and EASIER than other profs and that is why everyone wants him, class was PACKED in the first week. I really enjoyed and learned Java and data structures.
Great lectures that are easy to follow, challenging but fair weekly homework (you can collaborate with others on it) Word lectures and lots of resources outside of class for hw help. It is a great class overall but also interesting and informative.
Great professor who clearly seems to care about his students and make a lot of time for them outside of class. There are many opportunities to boost your grade and lowest test grades is dropped, and lots of extra credit is awarded. Very fun class that gave me a great introduction to math in Computer Science.
Amazing professor! Every lecture and assignment were incredibly clear and the material was easy to learn because of that. There are weekly lab assignments and test after each chapter, but they are doable. Easy to get a good grade if you study and fun to learn. He makes sure everything is accessible too.
I was originally struggling in COMP256 which was somehow a hard class for me, and if I had any other professor for it I might've dropped out. But Nikjeh walked me through it, and instantly everything I knew was turned upside down. Life-changing class, even if it's not required for your major I would still recommend taking for the experience.
Professor Nikjeh is definitely a wonderful one! Reachable out of class, go to his oh and you will learn more about him and CS. Very professional at his subject and curves the tests if highest is low. Lab assignments will be done during the Lab sessions.
Professor Nikjeh is very patient and he is good at explaining the course contents through examples. His grading is fair and reasonable. I would recommend this class to more people.
My favorite class this semester. going into the class, i wasn't interested in the subject at all and prof Nikjeh made it SUPER interesting. always willing to answer questions.
Very fair grader, clear grading criteria, engaging lectures, and lots of opportunities for extra credit throughout the semester. Definitely recommend.
A little difficult but educational class. I came in not knowing much, struggled with other hinderances. Prof. Nikjeh was very understanding and took the time to explain the concepts better, whether it be using real-life applications or in depth clarifications.
The nicest professer there is in the CS dept. Very easy class. You gotta try in order to not pass the class. He curves every test. Final is not cumulative. A few hw and lab assignments. His explanations are really good
Prof. Nikjeh always make the class to be interactive and care students. HWs are graded by completion. He curves up at the end of the semester. There are plenty of extra credit opportunities. He is very knowledgeable. 10/10
Prof. Nikjeh is super sweet, funny and has a story teaching style. He has accessible office hours, and helped me correct my homework I turned in when he realized some stuff was off the bat. I wish I would have taken him sooner! Gives the guide for Homework. There are plenty of extra credits available during the Lab.
Nikjeh is a great prof who cares about his students and the insights they take away from the course. He teaches skills that are applicable to real life and I've found myself using the things I learned in my other classes & it will definitely be useful when for future jobs. This course is tough and I put in a lot of hard work but it pays off!
By far one of the best professors I have ever had!!!! Makes learning so fun, it's impossible to fail his class. Just pay attention and come to class. Do the extra credit, homework, and labs. he's very kind and understanding and very knowledgeable. Goes over hard topics super simply and exams/finals are based off of examples you are familiar with.
Offers extra credit and opportunities during the lab. He explains lectures with simple examples. He is a very reassuring professor. Super inspirational and helps you to learn from his class. Nice person.
Best professor I've taken at CSUN. He is very dedicated his classes are amazing. You will learn so much from his class. He wants everyone to pass so he helps you out a lot. He made COMP256 feel so easy, I definitely recommend taking him.
Probably the nicest teacher I've had throughout college & seems to genuinely care about his students success. At the end of the day it's still programming and it can be difficult but he tries very hard make sure everyone is grasping the concepts. I've never had a professor make themself more available to students for extra help. Highly recommend.
Very sweet and enthusiastic lecturer. His tests are very fair, and questions are usually the from examples or Lab. Concepts can be difficult, but as long as you dedicate enough time and use your resources, his class is very easy to succeed in.
Nikjeh is a great professor who is easy to reach and cares about his students. The homework was fair and it was easy to figure out how to do it but was still pretty time consuming. I would definitely recommend him.
G.O.A.T is not a strong enough description of this professor. Easily one of the gems of the CS dept. In an area in which most professors are callous at worse or aloof at best, Professor Nikjeh combines a strong curriculum along with an understanding and caring. Was an absolute honor to take this class.
Nikjeh is a great professor, he knows the content well and his lectures are very interactive. He provides the textbook material and we frequently have practical exercises, in which he actively helps you with any problems you have. Overall, his classes are very fun and engaging.
He is probably my least favorite professor I have had to this day. Unless you follow his exact problems on the lecture to the LETTER you can and WILL be marked off. It is absurd how many times I got marked off for correct answers. Almost every exam he had to give the whole class point, to cover up the class having a failing average. Harsh grader.
I had a great experience in this class. The professor is very caring and genuinely wants students to succeed. His organization made a big difference for me- especially the way he provides clear, structured materials and study guides. The course felt manageable because expectations were always laid out well.
