Accepts late homework and gives very lovely quizzes/tests with some questions derived verbatim from the examples in the textbook and homework problems. Great professor, I highly recommend him and would definitely take again.
He was honestly the best professor that I've had since being at UCLA. He really does care about whether or not you understand the material. He is very specific about what you will be tested on and as long as you do the study guide and show up to class you'll do fine in the course. He also offers extra credit for the final and homework.
Esmaail is one of the best professor I have had at UCLA! I never write reviews about anybody, but he really deserves all the praise he can get. His lectures are clear and to the point. Final exam is super fair, if you study. Definitely take him! No regrets! If you need to change your schedule to fit him in, DO IT.
One of the best professors that I have ever taken. The material isn't easy, but he really prepares you well for the midterm and exam. Super nice and patient, and explains everything very clearly. He is so passionate about his work, he is funny, and fantastic.
He is a GREAT GUY. Reminds me of a high school math teacher. Truly caring, very compassionate, and makes Math genuinely fun. I do not like Math at all, but learning math with him was absolutely great. He made math fun. Definitely one of the nicest professor in UCLA.
Just do yourself a favor and take his class. You won't regret it. Prof. Nikjeh is one of the most helpful and genuine professors I've had at UCLA. And did I mention he actually teaches you the material? And that he cares about whether you understand or not?? Just take his class already.
This class was GREAT. I dreaded taking it, but I was so lucky to have Prof. Nikjeh. He taught it clearly so that non math majors could understand it. I actually understood the material, while friends in other classes struggled. Don't settle for anyone other than him, he is the best and super nice. And I got an A.
I must admit, considering that I am not mathematically-adept, this was the one course I feared taking the most this semester. Yet, Professor Nikjeh's class has turned out to be one of the easiest, yet more informative, class I've ever taken. I highly recommend him to everyone.
He is the BEST Math Professor I have ever, ever had. He really knows how to teach a very difficult subject in such a way that students can grasp and understand. I took him for 31A & 31B and I learned more than ever before. He is very fair and truly cares about his students learning the material. I Highly recommend him for any Math class. Great man!
I was scared to take this class- but Dr. Nikjeh made it totally the best class. He is so understanding, and he is a great teacher. He is very nice and helpful- the ideal prof to take for ANY course- let alone math. I love this guy- def take this class no matter what time it is offered.
What to say about Nikjeh? The best professor of my life. In the most different class I've ever taken, Nikjeh made a dent in my education. Nikjeh is just not only a talented professor, but also a great human being who believes in teaching as a life changing job he's up to. MathXL31A is hard, but Nikjeh will make it inspiring and really worth taking.
Professor Nikjeh is a wonderful teacher with a firm, accurate, and understanding grasp of that which he teaches. He makes difficult content easy to master and does so in a comfortable way that makes lectures a joy and not just another class. His fashion sense also speaks volumes about what truly matters to him and I respect him very much.
OK professor, he can make it boring but you don't learn anything
Not organized at all and blabbers while explaining. I didnt understand much of calculus
MATHXL1 is the hardest class I've ever taken but prof. Nikjeh was an absolutely amazing professor. His lectures were well organized and full of meaningful content, and he structures his lectures so that his students' focus is maximized.
Professor Nikjeh is the best lecturer I have ever had. His lectures were organized and prepared. They used well thought-out examples that were referenced across multiple lectures. I never felt like my time was being wasted. Also, Nikjeh's demeanor was very polite, funny, and relaxed.
Prof. Nikjeh is great math instructor and I enjoyed and learned a lot. Always kept class active, although we were learning the most boring materials. Fair and easy grader. Tests were a breeze if u study just enough to know how to do the math. No crazy preparation needed. Awesome. 10/10
He is one of the best professor Ive ever had in my life. He takes such an abstract concept like calculus and breaks it down fundamentally and really makes you think. Hands down one of the best math teachers youll ever find. I will take him again.
BEST PROFESSOR AT UCLA! Honestly an amazing person (reminds me of my dad). He is very sweet. His exams are based on textbook questions & examples so make sure you look over questions and you'll be solid. Honestly a great professor, explains well in class. If you dont understand he is more than willing to explain it again. Truly an amazing prof.
Prof. Nikjeh goes over the material clearly at a moderate pace. You will probably not do well if you dont do the homework or you didnt take Intermediate Algebra before. Homework is not hard at all. You may see class examples on the test. Overall he is very nice and helpful. I will take more classes with him.
Best professor I've ever had! I am NOT a math person, I repeat I AM NOT. However, I made it with an A in a very short time (5 Weeks). Only 2 quizzes, 2 exams, and a final. His lectures are very straight-forward. His quizzes are exactly the same as the examples he provides in the lectures. He's an amazing & caring person. I highly recommend him!!
Great professor! Very clear expectations from his students. Is more concerned about students understanding a few solid concepts, rather than jamming a book down their throat. If you have to take Calculus, take him! He will make it interesting and easy for you. 2 thumbs up!
Prof. Nikjeh is a wonderful professor. He makes concepts clear and makes himself available if anyone needs help. This was an easy class for me. I went to all classes and paid attention, and did all practice problems that he would say to look at before a test and got an A+. He is a great guy.
Best math professor. He really teaches you how to manage your own and when you put in the bit of work that is compiled in the homework and his study guides, there is no way you can't get a B or A. I received all HW credits. You need to have a very good understanding of basic algebra to be successful.
Ok professor, didnt learn much but its an easy class and easy A.
Not good professor but very funny and personable. Didnt understand much but he showed up to every class
Prof. Nikjeh is by far the MOST AMAZING professor I have ever had. I had no prior knowledge in algebra before this class, but with his teaching skills, I was able to end with an A-. He makes it clear that he wants his students to succeed in the class. He is super caring and passionate about teaching. I was rly lucky to have him as a prof! 11/10 :)
You will need to work out problems by yourself since he only explains really basic ones during the lecture. Have the student solutions manual handy. He was too overloaded with work to answer questions or give feedback/ mark questions in quizzes or homework. Really lovely professor but he was definitely overwhelmed by online teaching.
Great Professor would take again 10/10. The class was easy if you listened to his lectures and took good notes. Hes more than fair with grading!
Professor Nikjeh is extremely understanding and approachable. He truly wants his students to succeed in his course . He also provides you with plenty of examples that will help you with quizzes and homework. He also does not rush through material. . I would recommend this course for anyone that wants to do well in calculus.
He was a great professor who cares about you doing well in the class. His lectures are pretty easy to follow and he gives you shortcuts where he can. There is a lot of homework but it is helpful because many of his quizzes and exams are modified versions of the HW questions. He grades your HW by completion. Exams and quizzes are not too difficult.
Professor Nikjeh is an excellent professor and I greatly enjoyed his course. His lectures are very helpful for understanding the material with exams/quizzes that are very fair in challenge level. He made the course interesting and his lecture notes are very organized! He is kind and genuinely cares about his students.
Professor Nikjeh is one of the most understanding and caring professors I have ever met. He truly cares about you and wants you to succeed; his lectures are clear and well organized. Super accessible outside the classroom; take Calculus with him. You won't regret it.
Straightforward class with clear grading criteria. Do homework, pay attention in lecture and take notes. Exams reflect notes exactly! Professor was patient and lectures were very clear! Quizzes, exam and final from notes. Take this professor and class!!!
Professor Nikjeh is great! His lectures make Calculus very digestible. He does an excellent job explaining theorems and providing example. More importantly, he really cares about his students. He wants everyone to do well in class. He encourages students to ask questions and is willing to slow down if students find the material difficult.
Does not actually teach the concepts well, rather he just hand writes what the book says. While his quizzes and tests are just reworks of the example problems he gives during lecture, meaning they're pretty easy to pass, don't expect to learn anything. Had to go to pretty much teach this entire class by myself.
Incredibly nice and caring guy, wants everyone to do well and understand the material. With that being said, if I could rate his communication I would give a 0. Quiz and homework dates were always in the air and he would take so long to reply to your emails. He's a very traditional, old school teacher and virtual class has made it very hard for him
One of the best math teachers at UCLA and quite laid back. Had him for MathXL31A on Saturday mornings, not the most fun thing to do on a Saturday morning but this professor is great and teaches the material well. He allows note sheets on exams, so take advantage of this however you will. Overall, wonderful teacher.
He is a great professor. He wants you to know all detail of the class and gives you enough information to do it. If you study you will get an A or B. Attendance is important. An easy class as long as you listen to him carefully and study. I will definitely take his class again. he knows what he teaches. Super nice.
He is awesome! Gives great examples of concepts to help students understand. Soft spoken and always leaves room for questions. Work is easy if you try a little bit. Definitely my favorite math teacher. His quizzes are from the lectures (examples). He'll show you exactly how to ace the exams.10000% recommend.
Professor Nikjeh's "teaching" was simply regurgitating text book material for three hours straight in lecture; he couldn't manage his time and constantly shifted tests/assignments. HIs tests weren't commiserate with material "taught" in class. He didn't return a single graded item (so you never understood what you did wrong). Absolutely dreadful.
If you have to take MathXL31A this is absolutely the guy you want to take it with. Seriously cannot recommend him enough. He made one of the more difficult classes at UCLA manageable. He's a fair grader on the exams and while there is a lot of homework he'll often let you turn things in late without penalty if you ask.
Nikjeh is the best math instructor I've had here. His lectures are pretty easy to follow and he does a good job of doing a lot of examples. He also uploads everything he ever writes out so that is helpful too. I struggle with math and I found him very willing and able to go above and beyond to help students understand. Super nice!
He is incredibly smart and actually cares that his students understand the material. His lectures are clear and precise with plenty of opportunities to ask questions, where he gives clear answers. His teaching styles make hard classes seem easy. Take him.
I would highly recommend professor Nikjeh to anyone! He breaks things down and makes it really easy to understand. He also takes the time to make sure each and every student has a clear understanding of the subject. I was terrified of Calculus because I am not a math savvy person, but he made it all so easy to understand!
I absolutely loved the class I took with Professor Nikjeh. Calculus ended up being my favorite class this semester. Professor Nikjeh is thoughtful and really just a great guy. Every single expectation was outlined and overviewed. Every single lecture was entertaining. I wish Professor Nikjeh could teach all of my courses. Take this class!!
I loved every part of this class. Professor Nikjeh makes learning easy. The class is very easy to pass as long as you take good notes and watch the lecture videos. Tests are open book and are based on lecture videos and class examples. Prof Nikjeh is very caring about his students and wants them to pass.
The written HW was a bit challenge and the exams are fair but honestly,Prof. Nikjeh is now my favorite math professor I've had at this school. He is willing to work with you if you need grace/help. Strongly recommend taking him not just for this class, but for any math class.
Prof. Nikjeh is by far the best teacher for Calculus at UCLA. He genuinely cares about his students and works tirelessly to ensure that everyone learns. Never be scared to ask questions if you're entirely confused about a subject! He'll be delighted to assist!
Prof. Nikjeh is a remarkable teacher, and I passed his course with flying colors. He allows note sheets on exams. He was able to explain complicated concepts clearly and concisely and was probably the most "down to earth" math professor I experienced. Overall, wonderful teacher.
Excellent teacher, one of the best at UCLA Math Dept. English is my second Lang. but he is very clear on aspects. Very very helpful and super nice. You will like and enjoy the class.
The course itself is very difficult but the professor speaks clearly. his quiz is about 4-5 questions limited to one hour and the exam is about 10 questions. I like this professor very much because he is very reasonable and has taught me a lot and understands the students.
Prof. Nikjeh is an awesome professor. His lectures are simple and clear, though a bit tedious. I think it's the subject and concepts he has to work with since it's a calculus class. Class got more interesting towards the end. He grades fair, tests are fair.
He was able to explain things clearly and concisely and was probably the most "down to earth" math professor I experienced. Best math professor I have taken. I learned a lot in this class.
Dr. Nikjeh is AMAZING! Do all the homework he assigns and study the class examples you'll be set for every quiz and exam, sometimes he copies questions directly. He nicely curved the final grades.
Really great and nice professor overall. Makes lectures interesting, and explains complex material in a coherent fashion. Provides plenty of material to study for exams. Classes themselves are very laid back and comfortable. He curves the final grades.
Prof. Nikjeh is the students' dream instructor. He is very knowledgeable and explains difficult concepts in an easy way. He gives many examples. Exams are similar to the class examples. He curves the grades at the end of the quarter.
Prof. Nikjeh is EXCELLENT!!! If you have a chance to take him, DO NOT HESITATE!
This guy is one of the top professors at UCLA. Doesn't even need any aids to help him present the material. Great personality and fun guy to work with. He is demanding of students (don't miss any classes) but the landed benefit of having taken him for this class is well worth it!
This professor was so great! The class is really interesting- you don't have to show up every session but it's definitely easier if you attend for lectures & review, though. DON'T GET THE BOOK! All the info needed to study is in Canvas and his class notes:)Take him!
Super clear lectures, math is not my strong point but Professor Nikjeh is very good at making seemingly hard math concepts appear easy. Tests are open notes and open book. Weekly homework, just follow the agenda and you can easily get an A.
Is this class hard? Yes, I'll say it: this is not a hard class. Prof. Nikjeh makes the Calculus easy to understand. I enjoyed the lecture. He is a fair grader. He gives extra credit. At the end of the class you will be happy with whatever you learned and what you earned. He curves the grades.
Dr. Nikjeh is definitely my favorite professor from all my classes that I've taken this semester. He allows notes on tests. I would suggest attending his lectures since he will often give 2 free test questions during the lectures before the day of the test. If you have to take Calculus, I definitely recommend taking it with him!11/10
Dr. Nikjeh is a great Math Professor. He's very helpful and caring. Again study from his lectures, if you need additional help then practice from the PDF book! He gave me a great recommendation letter for medical school. Just take him.11/10
Amazing professor! He is very enthusiastic about the class and does a superb job explaining the concepts. His notes are well organized and informational (you wouldn't need to read the book in this class,) and he is very willing to help after class. His tests are fair.
Esmaail is honestly the best Calculus teacher! He gives you extra credit for people who need to boost their grades up. He is very helpful, he takes his time to help the students. He cares about his students. You will learn a lot. 11/10
I hate math, but this was by far my favorite class of the quarter. Nikjeh makes lectures easy to understand. It's hard, and requires a lot of outside work but his tests are very fair.
Nikjeh is an incredible professor. He loves to make calculus entertaining and explains good examples in an easy way to understand the complicated concepts.
This professor is AWESOME!!! He explains things very clearly and wants to help students succeed he is very accommodating and offers lots of opportunities to get help. If you have any interest in learning Calculus take him!
He is overall a pretty good professor. Math isn't my major but he explains the material well even for outsiders. I found he lectured a bit fast for my liking, but he provides many examples to teach the complicated concepts. Tests and quizzes are fair. 100% recommended.
Nikjeh might be the best professor in the math department! His lectures are very good and he grades fairly. HWs on completion while the two midterms are similar to the class examples and HW problems. He curves the grades generously at the end of the term. Highly recommend.
Prof. Nikjeh is one of the best instructors in the department. We can learn lots of things. HWs grade on completion, and midterms are testing for concepts we learned in the class. The final is more about derivatives, integrals, and latest concepts, and Nikjeh gives a big curve.
Prof Nikjeh is the GOAT. He explains the concepts clearly, and love helping students. HWs grade on completion, and midterms are similar to hws. The only challenge part is the final, which requires deep application of the formulas. However, he curves generously, and you will be guaranteed for an A as long as in high ranking.
I thought the material was difficult, but I really liked how it was organized and distilled in the lectures with engaging examples. I also liked how he demonstrated how to do some of the HW problems during the lecture, it really helped.
The professor was like a magician the way he would solve the math.
He is just amazing!! Very inspiring and he is always offering multiple times for office hours which is great:) definitely take him next quarter! Best prof ever! I'm glad I'm at UCLA because of him. He makes everything worth it.
Best professor that I have had the pleasure of having meeting and having here at UCLA. I learned a lot about Integrals and derivatives from his class. Super nice person.
He is great! He is a great lecturer and is knowledgeable in the subjects he discusses. He is actively available and is very interactive with the class. He wants everyone to understand everything he teaches. He is the type of professor all professors aspire to be.
This was the best course I've taken so far during my undergrad career. Prof. Nikjeh lectured extremely well. I loved the style of the course. I recommend this class if you want to learn Calculus.
Best class I've taken at UCLA. Nikjeh teaches in a way that encourages deep thought, real world application, and rapid individual. Everyone has the ability to succeed in the class & learn so much about Calculus if you really dive deep. I recommend putting more into this class than you need to, I promise you won't regret it.
His lecture notes are easy to look at and take in. He communicates very well and makes sure the lecture that he does make sense. His clicker questions focus more on understanding of concepts rather than understanding how to do basic Calculus (good thing).
Dr. Nikjeh reignited my love of math. He made Calculus accessible, even for students who haven't taken a math class in 10+ years. He really cares, he's very funny, and his teaching makes sense.
Amazing teacher and really helps you understand the material. Dr. Nikjeh made the transition to higher level math very manageable. He gave me a good recommendation letter for my medical school applications. Super nice person.
Prof.Nikjeh is so good at what he does, that he noticed a pattern of mistakes I was making on tests, which later helped my doctor pin a dyslexia diagnosis. This man is the reason I got into UCLA (took his LAPC STAT), is the reason I'm not afraid of math anymore, and I wish I could take his CALC class right now. Take his class, you won't regret it!
Professor Nikjeh is such an amazing teacher. His Calculus class was the best math class I have ever taken! He is very clear and provides many examples. Only makes you take 3 midterm tests and 1 final. Just come to class and do the class activities. Tests are similar to the class examples. Such a great guy!
Best professor I've had at UCLA. Really wants everyone to do well. 2 Exams and final exam are based completely off his lectures and class examples so be sure to study all of them. If you study it isn't hard to get an A.
Professor Nikjeh is the most caring, thoughtful, and inspirational professor I've had during my 3 years at UCLA. He outlines very clearly his expectations, and is always there to answer any questions and be by your side throughout the duration of the course. I would recommend, if take this class with professor Nikjeh, you will not regret it!
Prof. Nikjeh is one the best profs. I had in UCLA. You will learn complicated subjects with easy examples. He grades fair and curves the tests if the highest test score is low. 100% recommended.
He was a great professor, and I learned a lot from his class (it was my first calc class). There is a LOT of homework but it makes it so that you know the material. Would definitely recommend this class, just be prepared to do the work and get a good grade!
I could go on forever ab how amazing Nikjeh is. The class was very informative for me. He goes through stuff in class thoroughly. He is so kind and makes class comfortable. As someone who feels like passing out while just introducing myself to the class, he made it so I wasn't afraid to answer questions or ask them. I will miss having him.
This is a professor that goes above and beyond the classroom. Understands it's not just a class but a stepping stone to how you would need to perform within an actual occupation. Is ready and willing to work with you on a myriad of topics not just class related ones. Overall 10/10.
I really enjoyed taking this class. A very interesting professor and very knowledgeable. I learned a lot and know it will help me in the future. Recommend this professor.
