This instructor is the hardest I've ever had for any class in my life! If you have a light load maybe her class will be okay. If not find another instructor.

Excellent teacher - she really knows her material, and is organized for class everyday. Everything you need to know for exams is presented in lecture. She is also willing to help when students have trouble understanding. Recommended!
She is a great person but what she is in lect. is not what is always in her tests, she is not NOT straight FW. on what she wants. Over all if you got little or no load great class if you got any load I would look at other profs.
On the first day of class, she started talking about how hard this class is & how many of her students fail-no positive energery. The reason for this is because she tests on material not covered. She is always prepared and knows her stuff but this class is hard enough without having to deal with attitude. I dropped and got a B with another teacher.
I had her for both biology 201 and 202. She was very hard, her tests were so difficult, but she gave you every opportunity to succeed and was very clear with what you needed to know for tests. Her lectures were very organized and the labs were hands-on.
Horrible Teacher!! I took her for micro and she would put things on her tests that she never even taught. She doesn't teach she just reads her powerpoints and expects you to understand. She doesn't give you points for anything but taking the test so if you fail those you fail the class. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!
Not user friendly. Spend hours of self study and you can do well. Text was essentially useless and often contradicts what is on PP and exams.
Honestly, I didn't like her at first. I thought she was rude and inconsiderate. But as the course went on, she is a great teacher. She has exactly what's on the power points in her test and she's fair.
I have never learned so much in one class! She is very straight forward in what she expects from you and explains hings very well. Her test are definately NOT easy but covers EVERYTHING you need to know in lecture and power points. Pay close attention to organisms and technique in labs or you regret it when it is time to do "unknowns"
I had Dr. O for BIO 201,202 and 205. Be prepared to study ! Note in lecture cover EVERYTHING. These are diffucult courses in general and you need be prepared to put in the time. She is clear and concise. Not approachable at first but warms up and appreciates those who work hard. Don't expect anything to be handed to you.
I took her class in BIO 201 and 202. These class are hard but with her notes are very helpful. Condensing the whole book into few pages. Needed to self study all the time to catch up with her class. I should say hard class but with helpful information presented. Average rating...
Dr. O is great! Everyone going into the medical field should have to take her. She makes you learn the stuff. You can't just fly by in her classes. But I wouldn't want a nurse that just flew through school working on me. So, she is perfect for the situation. I have taken her 3 times and got what I paid for every time.
Dr. O is tough! The lecture consists of her reading her PP. Power Points are long and dry. Layout is poor for visual reference, She has used absolutely zero practical examples. The material is in depth and you need to dedicate at least 2 hrs per day to learn on your own. I will not take her for Bio202.
Dr. O is hard! You have to be very self disciplined if want tolearn in this class! i spend hours of studying and stull cannot get B's on my exams! If you like to learn by yourself take her :[
This is a very tough class. You need to be prepared to study, and study hard... everyday. If you do that you will be prepared for the tests but it is A LOT of information. Your whole grade is just the Exams. She doesn't collect or grade anything else. Not even labs.
If you can get all the lecture notes into the power point you should have no problem acing her lecture notes. But lab exams are alot harder, questions sometimes are very specific. Lab is hard to get an A, most information is from self study. She's a nice professor on a personal level and will answer questions that you have.
She doesn't teach anymore than she has to, and is completely worthless in the labs. She tests you on information that she has never given you, and despite a low C average for her class does not weight the grades.
Micro is difficult if you don't review/study the material outside class. Dr O is a fantastic teacher! She is willing to help if you ask for it. Be prepared when taking this class, you won't be treated like a child (don't take it if you want to be babysat).
I LOVED her! Took her for BIO 201, 202 and 205. She treats you like an adult. The people who are there want to be there. Its not a childish courses its major work so of course its difficult but if you want to be there she knows it and helps you if you ask her for it. I love her powerpoints she gives you all you need to know for exams, just STUDY!!!
Worse teacher i have ever had. Has you buy a book that's way over priced and does not even use it. After the first test she told us on how low the scores where for her last 3 semesters and the average in those were the mid 70's. Dropped her after 1st test. She makes it extremely hard when it does not need to be. If U like your GPA stay away.
First day she said good students like me and bad students hate me. I am a good student so, I thought great. WRONG! There is no teaching, she leaves a box of bones in lab and basically says teach yourself. Do not take her you will regret it guaranteed.
She tells you at the beginning of the section, "If you are a good teacher, then you will like me. But if you are a bad student, then you wont". She also stated that a hard teacher is a good teacher, and those looking for an easy teacher wont learn anything. Everything she said was true...she is not easy and you will learn plenty if you try.
Dr. Orozco's class is set up in a difficult way. 75% of the grade comes from lecture and 25% from the lab. If you do poorly on one lecture exam, your shot of getting an A is very minimal. The content is not difficult, but the class structure is what makes the course hard.
This teacher is not even worthy of being a teacher. She lies and does not tell the truth. If you value your Gpa and your self you will not take you. She will tear you down and not care. She does what she wants and cares nothing for others. She is on 10 year so she is not willing to do anything.She shows up late,forgets, and is unpredicatable.
Do not take her. Wait for another teacher. It is not worth your time. She had a wonderful sub, but tore him down and refused to allow him help. Ted Brewster is an amazing teacher, so take him instead. He actualy want to help you learn and grow. Dr. O should retire she obviously does not care about her job and is there to be paid and leave.
Dr. Orozco's class is very intimidating, mostly because these comments as well as the people you've talked to about the class mostly likely struggled to receive a good grade. Her class, although is difficult, it not impossible. I got a 93% and hadn't taken a BIO class in eight years. Like anything else, if you study, you'll do well. Don't be lazy!!
I am taking her Micro 205. Don't buy the book. She tests off her powerpoints almost word for word. She is particular but not awful. You have to work hard and she doesn't really lecture, more just goes through her powerpoints. If you work hard it is possible to get a good grade. She is definitely a better teacher than some.
DO NOT LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE POSTS ON THIS SITE ABOUT DR. OROZCO. I had never taken a biology class before and I received a mid. A grade because I worked hard. The class is not easy, but it is certainly do-able. The people who post negative stories about Dr. O are the ones who are most likely frustrated because they have poor grades.
If your learning style is having someone read PowerPoints to you and fill in the blanks than this class is for you. I have 61 credits and a 4.00 GPA and my advice is to steer clear. Her lectures are extremely boring and she is more than a bit aloof when you seek help. You will end up teaching yourself.
I have taken the Bio205 class that she teaches and while the class is hard, she is a great teacher, people that don't like her are generally the ones that don't want to put the effort into her class. She will work with you if you ask for help. Lab is madatory for attendance, lecture is not. I love her teaching and will be taking her 202 class!
OMG! Really hard class! Loved the subject, but had a really hard time with the tests. Some teachers are hard but you learn a lot... Orozco is hard but I don't feel like I learned as much as I would have liked to. Do NOT take this teacher if you stress over exams. Had 2 classes w/her and dropped 1 cuz I couldn't handle OrozcoX2!
Want the easy breezy way out of taking Micro?Don't take Orozco.If you want to really learn the subject/ know micro as a whole- take Orozco.She's not the kind of teacher that will sugar coat the subject.She's straightforward.She literally gives you ALL the material you need to know for tests-and leaves it to you to know it.Really enjoyed the class!!
Dr. O is quirky, but knows her stuff and expects you to put in the work. She will help you if you ask, but will not babysit. The tests are not hard if study as you go along. You get what you put in with this class. My advise:STUDY, do the Pre-labs, and GO to class! She tests right off her power points. We hardly used the book- BIG waste of money!

Dr. O is a tough instructor but only because she expects her students to participate in the learning process. I had to work hard in this class but I learned the subject and am confident enough to go on. If you get a bad grade in her class it's your own fault, she gives you everything you need to succeed and will work with you if you need help.
Dr. O is a great professor. She is a very strict person on her class but she does it so people can learn. Through out her semester she provides powerpoints which are all you study off, so its helpful. I honestly would take her again.
Worst teacher I have ever had. Powerpoints are terrible and hard to understand, and the exams are extremely hard and tricky (which are your only grades). Her class averages are low. She is extremely rude ,childish, and does not care. Like someone said, if you value your GPA, I would not recommend wasting any of your time in this class.
You will do fine in Dr.O's class as long as you do not allow yourself to fall behind. It is not hard, but you need to study. She gives you everything you need to get an A. She is very willing to help if you ask for it.
To be honest if you think this class is hard you should not be in the medical field. She is really tricky on her tests so always double check your answers. She does this to prepare you in the medical field. You mess up once and you can kill someone is the moral she tried implant in us.

Horrible teacher. I got A's in both bio 201 and 202, but I can't even make it through her class.I study hard for this class and I know all the materials but Her exam questions are so tricky! She asks the same question at least 3 times on the same test! She is so unfair when she grades your paper with short answer questions.
Dr. O is one of the best professors I have ever had. For all the people complaining about how hard her class is or how bad of a teacher she is must not be paying much attention in class. She is very clear on what she wants from her students and if you pay attention and put in the work achieving a high grade is fairly easy.
Dr. O is awesome. She puts the information into language you can understand. If you listen closely to what she says, and study her power points (completely memorize them) you will do well in her class. It's not any easy class and she doesn't offer very much extra credit. You have to actually work and study to earn an A. It's not just given to you.

Dr O does not care about the success of her students which is evident by the large number of Ds and Fs on her tests. She seems to find humor in the low test scores and posts them proudly.

Dr. O is by far the best instructor I have had at Chandler Gilbert Community College. This is not an easy class but if you work hard and ask questions, it is worth taking with her. If you are looking for an easy A then this class is not for you.
She is a great person, really sweet and cares about people. She does not know how to teach however, she sits in the back of the room and says the "blankes" on the powerpoint. No pictures, nothing, if you have questions read the textbook.
Not "easy".She expects you spend time studying, AND reading text. I did. Everything on exams come from her powerpoints, very thorough. If you understand the concepts and can apply them you will do well. If all you want is to memorize an answer, forget it. Must be able to LISTEN/follow instructions. Whiners don't do well.
Dr. O is a hard teacher, but she is very helpful and always willing to meet with her students. She makes herself available to all her students. She knows her stuff very well, and the text is not used very much. Expect to study, remember you are in college she is not going to baby you. I fell in love with biology after her classes.

Dr O is one of the best professors I have ever had. She is tough, very specific and very well prepared. It is because of this that you also MUST be prepared. She tells you everything you need to know for exams, listen closely. Record all her lectures and study this is not an easy class. She also makes herself available to help you.
She uses the same old power-points year after year and gives the same to all of the other microbiology staff for use, so you can't win. If you ask her to fill-in the slides, the answer is NO, out of laziness. She will put-you-down if you fail a test by a point. She may have enjoyed teaching, years ago, but for being a Dept Head, not impressed.
Her tests are hard. However, if you pay attention in class, fill in the blanks on the powerpoint, word for word, and STUDY THE POWERPOINTS! Every single answer comes from the powerpoint somewhere! But sometimes it's the least obvious question, or sometimes it's a tricky worded question. Just memorize the notes, and the A is possible (barely).
Dr. O is a good teacher. If you want to be prepared for the Hesi or Nclex, her tests are reflective of that. It took me a lot of workstudy to get an A because I had to get used to the tests. If you aren't the studying type, you should probably take another teacher because it's not going to be easy.
Dr. O is fantastic. She really condenses the material since this is a beginning Microbiology course. Tests are straight off the powerpoints, but you really need to KNOW the powerpoints. I would suggest studying the powerpoints and lab manual DAILY as this is not a class where you can wait until the last minute to study and expect an A.
Love, love her! Dr. O wants her students to learn the skills necessary to succeed in their chosen career and she helps you do that. No matter who your professor is, this is not an easy course! If you fill in the power points word for word and study them each day, you will do well!

Dr. O is one of my favorite teachers of all time. She is definitely challenging, but considering the students in her classes are mainly going into the healthcare field this should be expected. Her lectures are easy to follow and give you all of the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in the class. Expect to study and apply your knowledge!

You may hear many rumors about how she is tough. .well it's true. BUT not in a bad way! She is challenging and prepares you for university level courses and graduate school! Her teaching style can be boring since she reads off slides but the good part? Her exams are literally RIGHT OFF HER SLIDES, MOST ARE WORD FOR WORD! I'll deal with the bore sesh for that! Other than that, she is a very sweet professor and is available if you ever need extra assistance. If you show initiative she'll recognize it! Love her!
Lecture exams are straight off the slides, super easy to study for! Practicals required memorization and some questions out of the lab book. Can't get away without the lab manual but can do without the lecture textbook. Great professor!
Microbiology is tough but Dr. O makes it so interesting! Lab was by far the most interesting in my entire undergrad. Exams are straight from powerpoint so be sure to show up so you can fill in the PPs as she lectures. Textbooks not really needed.
Grade: Show up for class to fill in the PowerPoint notes, study that and you'll get an A. Follow directions. She gives extra credit occasionally. About Teacher: She makes sarcastic remarks because often times people don't follow directions and she gets tired of dealing with it. Don't take her comments personally, she just needs to vent. Dr. O is an exceptional professor. The class had challenging material, but she will make it worth it. She is very forward with no surprises. Listen in class, pay attention and participate. Read ahead and ask questions. This is an amazing class. Again hard material, will need effort. However totally worth it.
Best teacher I've had at CGCC. Good students love her, bad students hate her. If you're a good student take her you will not regret it. If you're a bad student what are you doing in a pre medical class anyway? She makes lab interesting and really cares about her students and preparing them for med/nursing/PA etc. school
She is very picky on what you say. She does quizzes but they are very difficult. Her power points don't make any sense unless you go to class to fill in the blanks. If you don't, you'll be lost in the dark. She works very fast so good luck keeping up with her teaching.
Dr O lectures for her tests. Show up to class, fill in the power points, study EVERYTHING on the power points, get an A in the lecture. This class is not easy as it should not be. Do not expect an easy A. Dr. O is very serious most of the time, sometimes sarcastic. Follow her instructions EXACTLY. Do not be afraid to ask questions!!

She also gives A LOT of extra credit! Beware of pop quizzes, they cannot hurt you they are only for extra credit which is awesome. Will definitely take again for BIO202
Dr. O is a tough grader for sure but thats because she literally gives you the answers through power pint presentations. As long as you are in class for the work, you should do well. You MUST attend all of her classes to do well. I would take her again because her grading made me pay attention.
Dr. O 's goal is to get you to pay attention to detail as it matters as a medical professional. "C'mon guys." "You could kill somebody." She's a tough teacher but she's fair and she cares. You will work for your grade. You may not understand why at first, but the lessons learned in her class will follow you. I highly recommend this instructor.
Very specific ! both lecture and lab exam. Need to read everything carefully. If you read text while going over lecture slides, you will have no trouble understanding material. Lecture slide THE BIBLE. Not just memorize it but learn to associate concepts and idea. No way to cram for this class.
Difficult class no matter the teacher. She scared me the first half of the semester, but I learned she's very kind and wants us to succeed in the medical field. She sets you up for success in the real world.
Awesome instructor! Knowledgeable. Very particular, pay attention to wording and details. Learn what she's looking for and you'll be fine. Tests are multiple choice/true false, short answer, only over material in PP slides. Extra credit on each test, pop quizzes are for extra credit. Expects participation, so at least skim chapters before class.
Dr. O has been one of my favorite professors. She is super intelligent, spoon feeds you the information you're tested on, and doesn't include anything on an exam that she doesn't go over in class. She also has extra credit points here and there, throughout the entire semester. Also, gives one BIG break, per semester. Had her for 201/202.
Dr. O. teaches you for the real life not just for the course. Very kind and care, no surprises on her exams. Quizzes very chapter or two for extra credit.
No surprises in her class, overall pretty good. Her lectures don't always match the book & she grades to her own preference, says its OK for you to ask questions, but she doesn't appreciate them. Not sure where the rest of the extra credit pts I attained from extra assignments went; she didn't add them to my grade. Our styles don't match- simple.
Dr. O was a great teacher! I had her for 201, 202, and 205! She seems tough at first but shes really sweet. Whatever is on the powerpoints is on the tests. No suprises. Study those and you will pass. Dr. O only teaches to one style of learning. She sits in the back of the classroom and verbally fills in the blanks to her PowerPoints. She moves very quickly, doesnt like to repeat herself and hardly ever writes on the board. If you have a lot of spare time to learn and study on your own youll be fine. Very picky grader and always has her way.
She is great, I love Micro and the way she teaches the subject. There is a lot of studying and memorization, so get ready and plan your schedule in advance.
Dr. O was average. PROS: quizzes are extra credit. She cares about your success as a student She makes you learn how to pay attention to details CONS: She can be rough around the edges. Loud and quirky. Her lectures are strictly her sitting in the back of the class and verbally filling in blanks to her powerpoints. She wont repeat herself. Picky.
Good Class! She reads from power-points, so bring coffee to stay awake. But the ALL the exams questions are from the power points. No surprises there. Studying is mandatory if you want to pass. She gives extra credit to those who put in the work to study what we learned the week before.
I personally loved Professor Orozco. She provides notes on Canvas to print and fill out. Unlike most of my past professors she actually bases her tests off of her notes!!! I am not a good test taker and was able to score good on every test. Highly recommend her for Microbiology.
There is stuff to say about Dr. O. For my semester, Fall 2019, she is going through a lot in her personal life. However, what we did in class was not easy. She made us do our NOTES at home, then go over the notes in class. Prepare to erase your answers. Quizzes are EC, but only 1 point. You need 12 on the quiz to get the point. Ran out of space....
4 exams, random quizzes which are extra credit, and thats basically the lecture class, no other way to bring your grade up besides 2-4 other assignments. Lab is pretty hard because it is hard to explain.
Dr. I is one of the worst professors Ive ever had. Does not appreciate asking questions, extremely picky grader, and does not repeat what she says during lecture. Micro is a very intense class and questions should be appreciated but she is very intimidating to talk to and its her way or no way when it comes to grading. Choose a different prof
Dr. O is old-schooled. Her ppts are blank, even the one she uses in class when giving us notes. Listen carefully or txtbk time. Oh, she has us fill out notes before class, then we go over it, be prepared to erase A LOT of your notes. Quizzes are EC but worth 1pt. (only if you get 12+ correct) Sits in back, not front. Sat in front for a reason.....
One of the hardest and worst professors I have ever had. She acts like you are stupid if you werent already born knowing everything about anatomy straight out of the womb. Her lecture exams do not match the notes she gives in lecture even though she says they do. Lecture exam notes are hard to fill out/follow. Just reads from the textbook in class
CHOOSE A DIFFERENT PROF. She does not welcome questions or feedback. Assignments are sometimes unclear and no clarity is given when asked. If you answer something wrong in class you are laughed at rather than taught. Not a very approachable instructor. You've been warned.
The class is not easy by any means, you have to work for the grade you want. Dr. O was knowledgeable on all the material and was willing to help when you asked for it. The lecture tests contain only material she reviewed on the PowerPoints. The lab tests were only on material in the lab book. There are no surprises as long as you study hard.
She does not create a constructive learning environment, especially online. Be prepared to get 0s on assignments for writing in a full sentence or for giving too much detail. She will not give partial credit for pre-labs, its either all right or all wrong. She does not give positive feedback. Do not recommend online, maybe better in person??
I have never in my entire life dealt with someone so condescending and rude as this woman. She has done nothing to prepare for courses moving to an online format. Due to her laziness, she refuses to grade any lab reports for credit, but rather for all or nothing (by the way, labs are the only other thing she grades on other than exams). DONT TAKE!!
Dr. O is a very intelligent teacher however the majority of her assignment were graded in an "all or nothing' point system. If you did not follow the directions exactly as they were stated you would receive a zero. I learned a lot in this class however Dr. O can be very passive-aggressive if the directions are not followed.
DO NOT TAKE ONLINE! If you are going into the medical field, try to take this in person!! She is an extremely tough grader and leaves you little to no room for error. Extremely unfair & the worst professor I have ever had. She is smart & I am sure she means well but the strict/harshness over powers all. DONT waste your time.
Dr.O? The least understanding professor Ive encountered. She gives very unclear directions and would often get frustrated with the floods of confused students and stop responding to emails. She is a very tough all or nothing grader on a lot of things including a big project at the end of the semester. Many students sank this semester due to her.
Where do I begin with Dr. O! If you're enrolled with her be prepared for lots of quizzes and notes. You end up doing an unknown organism project which she gives you bland instructions for and expects you to know how to run all these test which not a lot of people knew how since the whole semester at home we have been looking at pictures not learn
I am sadly withdrawing from this class. I did not choose this professor, I had to take this class and they chose her to teach my class online. I have never faced someone so rude, condescending, and unclear for what she wants with assignments. She gave me 0's on assignments i spent 2+ hours on. DONT TAKE HER, she almost cost me my grade & good GPA
THIS PROFESSOR IS BY FAR THE WORST!!! She is rude, incapable of answering questions, does not give feedback as to WHY things are "wrong".. she just responds to emails saying "per my grading rubric..". I have spent hours on assignments every week just to get a zero on them. She even takes points off for :providing TOO MUCH information! She is awful!
Dr. O is the absolute worst & rude professor I have encountered. She will literally give you a zero on labs you worked a long time on just because you gave "too much" info on one section since she doesn't want complete sentences.. WHO DOES THAT?! then says not enough info when you try to go by her rules. Save yourself the stress, don't take!!!
This teachers assignments are so misleading. She has changed the grading policy many times because everyone was failing them. She is super unclear about instructions and doesnt care if you are struggling in this class. Asking questions only helps you so much. Nothing is ever correct to her standards.
Needs to be a little more understanding of how confusing she is! She understands that online is hard so i wish she would have taken time to help make it easier during this pandemic & understand that we are LEARNING not experts. Im sure she means well but if multiple students are failing(her words)maybe its not the students fault.. Im a A+ student and the content wasnt bad but the grading was AWFUL/UNFAIR! :(
She writes fake reviews, rude, and has a huge ass ego, she's the ultimate Karen. Hey did you guys know that you can apply for an internal concurrent enrollment program for certain classes? For example, you can apply for BIO 205 at Mesa Community College, which has way better professors. Hopefully this helps! Keep up the grind y'all!
DON'T take this teacher for microbiology. The material itself is hard already and she makes it even harder. If you don't answer the specific way she wants you to answer, she'll give you a ZERO. Worst teacher I've ever had.

Worst professor I have ever taken. Grading is ridiculous, if you answer in complete sentences the question is automatically marked wrong. If you miss a total of five on any assignment you get an automatic zero. Most of the class is averaging 50% on pre-labs alone. Save yourself and don't go through the stress of taking her class.

Do yourself a favor, if you see this review choose a different professor. I did fairly well in her class however the stress and frustration that came from it is not worth the grade. She gives no feedback and does not try to help the students understand. It is self-led learning and she is extremely unfair and cruel when it comes to grading.
To do well: Watch her lecture videos, make a copy of the ppt slides she makes & FILL IT OUT. Buy lab book. Always only write what answers the question. This's a hard class, and a lot of the "learning" will be on you. Things get frustrating but don't let a low score ruin ur mood. You got this, go into this with a mindset to do well no matter what.
She came off rude from the start. Only way to reach out to her for help is through zoom. But even then its hard to understand her. She made me feel stupid and didn't help much when asking for help. She continues saying the instructions are super clear, yes they are, BUT if you dont answer the was she wants you to, automatic grade drop.
I read previous reviews that made me want to drop Dr. O's class, however, I'm glad I didn't. Dr O cares about her work and her students and wants us to succeed. Most students in her class were preparing for careers in medicine, so she wanted them to pay attention because in the real world of medicine, not doing so could kill someone.
I agree with many of the negative reviews here. This professor has little respect for students and be-littles students. She makes students feel dumb especially the prelabs were the hardest since people would do them and try their best and they can't get credit for them cause this professor has unfair expectations. Please take bio205 classes at MCC.
This class can be really tough, but using resources like unstuck study alongside the textbook and lecture videos can make a big difference. Stay on top of the work, and be prepared for the professor's specific grading expectations. Overall, a challenging but manageable course.
