She was one of the best professors. I would take her class again ANYTIME
She is so clear! She expects you to study a lot to pass her tests. Quizzes are long, about 70 questions! But she gives you the opportunity to get extra points! Print power point, fill the blanks in class and study from them! I never used the book!
Professor Haley was awesome! She explained each chapter in detail and all of her tests were based off of her lectures. If you work hard she gives extra credit. If you pay attention, take notes and participate in lecture its hard not to pass.
I really enjoyed her class. She is approachable, helpful, passionate about biology. Her lecture notes are super helpful. She gives study guide for the tests that are super helpful.
Yikes... all I have to say. Super hard class. Lectures are long, a little boring, and rather confusing. Tests are very hard. If biology isn't your thing... and I mean YOUR THING, avoid this class. Professor's teaching style wasn't for me but she is very nice.
Professor Haley is an amazing teacher, she is great at explaining things. You have to go to every class meeting, print her PowerPoint outlines. She also has weekly quizzes. You have to spend time studying the notes and doing the review sheets.I learned a lot from this class and surprisingly love Biology thanks to her.
Haley is the professor you need to take!! She explains all of the material you need, and the best part is, if you can complete her study guides you will get an A. I personally did not need the text book, only her lecture slides and study guide. Labs are fun. Shes amazing!
You do have to print out the power points for class but you can also just take a picture of the slides as she goes. It wouldn't hurt to bring in some color pencils or pens for the diagrams, Overall she was very easy to pass just complete study guides you'll be good. You can tell she's very passionate about the subject.
Professor Haley is an amazing teacher. But bio is a tough subject. You have to attend every class meeting, you have weekly lab quizzes and lab reports. Her study guide are intense but if you complete her study guide you'll pass her test. They are 4 exams a field trip and a final. If you study and attend class you'll pass. Love her teaching style
Professor Haley is a very good professor she goes out of her way to provide you with the notes on her lectures, study the notes and the study guide she gives you and you can get an A. there is a field trip and lab. the labs are essay and fun and educational. lectures are good. group work. you always know your grade too and can give extra credit.
1 lab test/week, Four midterms + final all multiple choice. Slides for class free@ Canvas website and u must print them all. 1 field trip @ end of semester, and extra credit available. Professor Haley's lectures r clear as water but u have 2 invest time reading material, if want pass. Always there to aid but got 2 work 4 grade. Best Bio Prof ever!
Biology is hard to learn so the class isn't easy. She is a sweet professor and is passionate about Biology. She gives you all the materials to pass her class. Try not to miss any of her classes. She tries to break it down for the students. final is non-cumulative. Find a study group within the class. She's slow with lecture and gets in-depth.
Professor Haley is very helpful and nice. Bio is a tough subject so you must attend the lectures and labs if you want to do well. Also make sure to utilize the study guides she makes available. It is a lot of material to get through but she goes at a steady pace and continually comes back to harder concepts to concrete them in your memory.
She was great! Her videos and colorful drawings really helped all this information sink in and made it so much easier to understand. She loves what she does and it makes me want to pay attention because shes not just there for a paycheck. She wants her students to learn
I have her for Biology, Introduction to Biology and the way she explains her lectures is she simply makes a summary for each chapter and when she teaches she only basically reads off on what she wrote down and would only explain very little. That's why I'm going to drop that class probably.
She is a great professor ! You will always have class unless she is sick. You get a quiz in lab once a week and have a total of 4 test and the final. She gives you study guides for all the test which are very helpful. Lectures can seem like a drag sometimes because there is so much information.
I loved this class! It wasn't easy and was pretty time consuming but absolutely doable. 4 tests + the final (non cumulative) and quizzes each week for lab. She's very approachable. I didn't need the book. I just studied from her lectures and got an A. You do need the lab book though. Flash cards help a lot. Also one field trip
She really cares about the students AND the subject. Always willing to answer questions, puts fill-in-the-blank lecture notes online, and extremely patient about everything but cheating (I mean, c'mon, she makes it so easy for students to succeed in her class, there's no reason to cheat). Take her class if you possibly can.
Professor Haley is very nice to students. If you are planning to take her class then you have to b e prepared to work very hard. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. I struggled a lot but she always helped me to do everything to get a good grade.
I have never been good at Biology. So I knew this class wasn't going to be easy for me. I was not wrong but she makes it a little easier. If you have any questions or need help, she's right there to help. Her lectures tend to be heavy and she goes fast so I suggest to take pictures of each slide so you're not lost. Overall, she's a good professor.
One of my favorite teachers. Made me like biology and actually want to learn more. Tests are fairly easy. Study and you'll do fine she's very understanding, caring, and funny.
She is great professor who really cares about her students. She really wants you to learn. If you are looking for an easy grade than take someone else. She provides outlines to her lectures, which really help. She post lots of useful information on canvas like videos and her outlines. I am sad because she is going on maternity leave this semester.
The class is okay, she's really nice. If bio is not your forte (I never liked bio), take her because she'll help you out and answer your questions without making you feel dumb or intimidated. You need to study A LOT for an A, which I didn't do, but it's definitely an easy class if you just care about passing. She made bio tolerable for me
Great experience taking BIO 033 with Prof. Haley because the expectations were clear. There's a steady amount of course so it's best not to fall behind. The textbook is well written & even enjoyable to read. There are weekly topic discussions as well as peer reviewing each other's. Prof. Haley gives great feedback & I really learned a lot.
Shes the best. Hands down. If you ever take her and get a low grade, thats on you. Took her Fall 2020 and its my first semester in college. I was scared to have a low grade but Prof Haley does everything to help you and give as much extra credit as she can so take advantage of it! Would take her again if she taught other science classes
She is a phenominal teacher. She's a great lecturer, super funny, so nice, and really cares about her students. By far my favorite teacher. She gives a ton of extra credit, so if you don't do well in the class that's your fault. Her tests are straight forward and straight from lecture. She assigns a book, but its totally not necessary. Take her!
Professor Haley holds both herself and her students to high expectation. She cares about student learning & will answer questions/clarify as needed. Offers extra credit. This class is difficult & intense but attend lectures, do readings/assignments/labs and you can pass. Assignments don't always align to lecture/readings, so extra work is needed.
Took Bio007 over the Spring20, during the COVID-19 the entire class when on Canvas. However we were obligated to purchase a camera because we are being Proctored by the tutors and the Estenia. It was weird, becuase there was ppl looking at you, and ur screen was all being recored. you were not able to open up tabs !! 120 questions for 70 minutes!
Amazing Bio professor. Truly cares about her students. Great lectures and a few extra credit opportunities. No need for textbook. If you study hard enough and put in the work, You will get an A. Exams are very straight forward. I really enjoyed her class.
This is one of the two classes that I've truly regretted taking. Some of her exams questions are unrealistically difficult. You can memorize her lecture and slides word-for-word and that will only get you a B. Unless you have a completely mastery of the whole subject, you won't get an A; I'm literally not saying that loosely. BEWARE, guys.
Took her fully online during COVID. Straightforward, recorded lectures. Zoom meeting 1/week - do not miss. Covers good material for majors. She Cares! I had to drop because of life. Will retake with her! I don't know how there are two Bio 7 reviews for her before Fall 2020. This is her first semester teaching Bio 7. RMP dropped the ball here. fail
i took her for bio 3 and she was amazing. But she is TOUGH for bio 7. she makes you turn in your notes from lectures, draw for labs (which seems like nothing but EVERYONE hated it) her exams were very hard and they were proctored using proctorio. 4 exams and 2 practicals and she doesnt drop lowest test score. She does however care for students.
I took her class for Bio 7 and I did not like it at all! I am a bio major and this class made me consider switching majors. Tests were incredibly difficult and proctored. The lab practicals are absolutely insane and she piles on work after work. Not to mention she gave the exams and lab practicals back to back. Do not take her class.
Bio 7 was completely online & that seemed to be a downfall for this professor. All of the hw/labs seemed like busy work instead of actually engaging us to learn the material. She reads directly from her slides and tests on stuff not covered in lecture. I was 0.5% away from an A in the class and she did not round up. Def would not take again.
Took online during pandemic. Good recorded lectures and live weekly review. Labs with practicals. When the system glitched she made it right. Cares about her students. She must have dropped her scale since I got an A with less than 90%. Very fair and understanding. A lot of work in a bio majors class - over 20 hours per week. No free grades. Great!
80% of my time in this class was coloring labs. That doesn't sound so bad but her tests are HARD and lectures are long and that time would be better spent studying, or on other classes. She's not horrible maybe just not the best for online? I'm a good student and ended up with an A in the class, but spent A LOT of time, stress, and hard work for it
I dropped Bio7 spring because of covid, but had to take fall. I hate online. Lot of lab work like in a regular semester 6 hours lab 3 hours lecture. She did a decent job of trying to transition to online, but the class is not made for it. She is not easy, but always available. Mix of recorded and zoom, not required. Recommend if you like bio.
I took this professor to learn bio, not take an art 101 class. Most of my time was spent drawing and coloring labs. Her exams were ridiculously difficult no matter how hard I studied. You can ready the book word for word and highlight all the lectures and still fail those exams. She was really nice those and gave free credit to bring up the adverag
I really enjoyed Prof Haley for Bio 003 in Fall 2020. She had us watch recorded lectures, and made herself available for non-mandatory zoom meetings. I didnt use the textbook and did just fine off of her lectures. A lot of content but there is extra credit opportunity. Fair tests though I thought they were challenging enough.
Even a fully online class, this the hardest Professor, EVER! Exams are fully proctored with Webcam and Microphone! If your eyeballs move to the side your exam will close and fail you. NO excuse email will help you! First thing she will say your CHEATING!! The worst Bio ever, and he makes the material even harder ! Avoid at all costs! Super HARD!
Professor Haley is great. She does everything she can to help students understand the material. Really enjoyed her class. Exams are difficult, but it is expected since this class is for majors. I really wished I took her in a face to face format. If you want to do well in this class, take some time and study the material outside of class.
This class was not easy, but you learn so much. Honestly, it taught me how to study. We met twice per week for lectures and lab was online. Haley's lab set-up was straigh forward. The lab reports were not worth much, but the point of the lab reports is to prepare you for lab practicals(4 of them). She provides lots of extra credit opportunities.
I never leave reviews but I feel obligated to do so for this professor. Even though she is a very nice person, she's a horrible professor. I spent most of my time on this class, DRAWING! Her assignments are weird and the exams are extremely hard. She doesn't know how to lecture and reads from the slides. Stay away.
Haley is a great teacher who cares about her students. The lab portion of this class is hard because you are supposed to use a microscope for a lot of the activities. I have to give credit to professor Haley for doing her best by providing slide pictures and videos that help with the lab. Class structure: 5 Exams, 4 practicals, and lab reports.
Dynamic lecturer, writes a lot instead of just reading from the slides. She posts video lectures for the online class. You will learn a lot if you pay attention and take notes on zoom and the video lectures and ask her questions. She is helpful. Challenging exams. Labs are tedious. I get that they're trying to simulate in-class labs, but too much .
HORRIBLE teacher. I dont usually leave reviews but I had to. She reads from slides like a robot. Shes more focused on catching cheaters than actually teaching anything. Her exams are EXTREMELY hard and no one gets an A (this is coming from a straight A student). I think the good reviews are only because shes a nice person.
One of the worst professor I've had. Her study guides are pretty much useless. Lectures using ppt pres. & just reads off the slides, doesn't add anything of her own. tests are very very hard, class average every time is a D. Labs are worth very little&tests worth a lot. She makes me hate bio (coming from a bio major). I definitely don't recommend.
This class has been the hardest class I've ever taken. The tests are EXTREMELY difficult even though you've studied the whole study guide. The lab is all over the place and hard to understand. Yes she is nice as a person but that doesn't make up for how she runs her class.
Worst professor ever. She does not respond to emails AT ALL, even if you're emailing her for questions about lectures or EC opportunities. Labs contain an average of 10-17 parts, very time consuming & worth ONLY 5 points. Test majority of overall grade. Doesn't hear what you have to say; doesn't answer questions clearly. Lectures are slow & vain.
I am not sure about other reviews, but I am truly enjoying Hale's class. Her class is well structure and organized. She had live lab lectures and we spend 6 hours per week working on labs and professor Haley is in workrooms with us the entire time. The lectures are prerecorded because this is a hybrid class. Exams are not easy but doable if u stud
I took professor Haley during the summer. It was a great experience. She really helped me understand the material. The class was a combination of lecture exams, lab quizzes, lab reports, and extra credit discussions. I really enjoyed her class. I feel ready for Anatomy since I am aiming for nursing.
Love her class. The class is a combo of discussions, presentations,s, and online homework.
I had her Bio 3 before COVID and changed my major to Biology. I will be taking her Bio 7 lab on campus. Cant wait. Good lectures, helpful in labs, personable, answers emails all days, and very nice. Exams are challenging but everything is from the lectures. You wont regret it.
Good class office hours are helpful and she spends a lot of time answering questions on zoom. Lab is a lot of work. Easy grading. There is so much to learn. Page of notes on the exam helps. Slight accent doesn't distract. She doesn't like cheaters. Overall good class.
I just want to warn everyone that yes she's a good person but first, her tests are NOTHING like the study guide so don't even bother doing it. You'll be completely lost on the exam. Second, she doesn't respond to emails. third, she's always in a rush and will have you learn on your own a lot of times. My whole class can agree.
Don't waste your time with this professor. I have studied every single thing on the study guide SHE GAVE US and still never aced any exam. She asks for definitions but never gives us question like that on the exam but instead asks something she has never lectured.
She's a TOUGH GRADER. Hard exams for no reason. Doesn't respond to emails. Always in a rush. Skips through chapters and make us learn it ourselves. Waste of time. Waste of my money.
Whatever she tells you will be on the exams wont be. Just go ahead and study the other stuff. Study guides are more useless than my appendix.
Online format is not bad once you get the hang of it. Video lectures are helpful. Miss Haley answers all emails and will meet any time on zoom. She is very knowledgeable and helpful if you ask. Sometimes there is busy work but dont fall behind. I learned after exam 1 you cant wait until the last minute. 10/10
Medical terminology was a fun class. Professor Haley class structure was easy to follow. The discussion topic were fun. Midterm and final and online hw.
Excellent class with clear requirements. Best instructor at Valley! She is always available to help and answers all emails. I wish she taught Anatomy
Good class. I wish it was in class, but otherwise good.
Tough class but knowledgeable, helpful, answers emails and meets for office hours.
Excellent professor. I loved her lectures and personality and I learned a lot. This is not a class for first time freshmen. Study hard and keep up. She is very helpful. Exams are about the same level as my university.
Easy online class. Clear criteria. Helpful when needed.
She's very helpful in an online setting and posts good lecture videos. Expectations and grading criteria clear enough to get an A.
I like how she posted everything on time and her lectures are so detailed, easy to understand. She helped me alot during my semester and try to give me every chance to achieve my grade. If you really want to learn take her. 100% RECOMMENDED
Every week is a lecture, a lab, a proctored lecture quiz, a lab quiz, and a chapter of the textbook to read, but the lecture covers anything important, and you don't actually need to buy or read it. Feel free to message her in canvas; if you ask, she will re-open anything for you. Professor Haley drops your lowest lab quiz and lecture quiz score.
This class was amazing! The Professor is really passionate about what she teaches. The workload is a bit heavy but she warns you at the beginning of the semester. This class is easy just have to be on top of the assignments. She is really nice and considerate, offers extra credit if needed, and will always try to follow up with you when contacted.
Class is well structured, she posts the modules that are relevant and keeps them updated as the weeks go on so you never have to scroll too far for materials. Lab practicals are based mainly on the labs, however, they can include information from the lectures as well. There aren't trick questions. Really nice and helpful, don't be afraid to ask ?s.
Fall 22' ( Mondays 8:00am to 11:10am) Lectures are long but she gives PDF of her teaching. Make sure to write everything down for Test or Quizzes. I enjoy her class. Most of her assignments are labs within the test which are easy as well. I would take her again.
Took her class in Fall 2022. Amazing professor. I wish she taught bio 006. Her class schedule is consistent with the material you will learn in this class. Lectures are online but she explains them further in class. Provides a study guide for exams which are based on the lab and lecture. A presentation to do. Also lenient and helpful.
Took her class Fall of 2022. Her class is easy to pass if you attend her Lectures via zoom. Download the slideshows and annotate them as she goes over them, you will pass the quiz and lab if you do so. She replies fast to emails. Cares about your grade! I RECOMMEND TAKING HER !!
She is okay, but the class is heavy. It's not to get easy A.Lots of classification, and It's hard to memorize. Overall, the prof is average
Although I worked hard, I ended up with b plus. I was expected to A ,but I couldn't. I tried my best. This class is not an easy A. You have to particcipate 4 lab practical that will be in class. Also, you need to show your face while taking quiz. Be ready !!!!!
I took Professor Haley in Spring 2023. Really enjoyed her class. She is fair and always willing to help. She is passionate and wants students to succeed. Lab reports, online chap quizzes, lab exams, etc.
Nice person. She really cares about students
She is a good grader and her exam are a little bit hard you should memorize everything that she gave in the study guide.
Professor Haley is the best! She wants all of her students to succeed and will answer any questions. Make sure you know everything mentioned on study guides! Weekly quizzes are easy if you know the material well. The dissections are very interesting. Love her and really recommend!
She's a cool Professor. She teaches very well.Weekly quizes, lab report and 4 lab practicals are important.
I took Haley's class a year ago during Covid when everything was shut down, and I must say. She is an amazing Professor, she stayed after class to help me understand and she clarified what I needed to know to pass the class. She is very patient and kind, I passed her class because she helps me learn. And theres extra credit to help u pass the class
Her class is very difficult, but she will always allow you to turn in assignments late. She is extremely kind and passionate about the subjects she teaches. Lectures quite a lot, and what she lectures on is expected to be memorized for the tests. Lots of reading the textbook for homework too, which is hard, but she wants all her students to pass.
Prof Haley is super caring and wants everyone to succeed. The class itself is not hard at all, just a lot of memorization. Everything she expects you to know is very clear and if you practice the study guide you're set. She responds to emails very quickly and since the class is point-based, you have numerous opportunities to raise your grade.
She is a very caring and dedicated professor with an inclusive learning environment. The class is loaded with lots of material and the exams can be intense. Make sure to come prepared to work hard and study. Not for the faint of heart.
Mrs. Haley is motivational and approachable. Her lectures are clear and she keeps you on your toes. She doesnt hold back on her exams. I loved her insect class!
This professor is very passionate about biology, has clear lectures and study guides for exams. The lecture was online with proctored quizzes (via yuja). In person lab had lab exams with stations.USE THE STUDY GUIDE. We didn't get much opportunity for extra credit which we were bummed out about. Will work with you but you have to put in the work.
She is the second biology professor I have taken and hands down the best. She gives a lot of guidance and good lectures so there is no way you can't pass with minimal effort. An A takes a lot of work and time and is not easy. I would recommend her unless you are not serious. There are easier professors out there. Weekly assignments and labs.
She just isn't a good professor. Personality wise she might be nice, but she's too focused on the wrong things. Her tests are more difficult than they should be, especially her first exam. I wish that she focused more on giving high quality assignments/exams. Proctored quizzes were fine. If you don't have an issue with difficult exams then take her
She the best professor you can take especially if you are a biology major. She teaches study techniques to help you with tests and it will help later down the line with your major. She wants every student to pass and she always extends time on every assignment if you need it. Clearly has a passion for biology and emotionally intelligent.
Weekly lecture quiz via YuJa proctoring, 4 lab exams, ecology exam, 2 lab quizzes, weekly lab reports (can be tedious), long lectures. Great professor, but not an easy class. You need to work hard and study consistently.
So far one of the best profs I have had. Great educator, funny, down to earth, unlike most profs who I believe do not really care, Prof. Haley does. I do not need to elaborate any more, if you need to take bio, take it with her. Only thing I wish Professor Haley did is make the zoom call camera mandatory, or incentivize it.
I can't say enough good things about Professor Haley. She genuinely cares about her students and shows a true passion for teaching. Although the class was challenging, she was always there to provide support. I truly enjoyed taking her course!
Lots of memorization for this class. Labs could take a while, use the time in class to complete them. Proctored quizzes once a week. Lab Practicals are copy paste from the study guide. Study guide is a one to one of what you should expect on the exams though the only problem is that it is a lot of information. Study earlier than usual.
Professor Haley is kind and understanding. Her lectures are a bit all over the place, and it is easy to feel lost in this class because you never really know what details are "important" or not. That being said, she grades heavily on the lab practicals, which are very clear. I would never take her class again as it overcomplicated the material.
Bio 7 is intense. There is so much material and the lab practicals are detailed, but she guides you. Pay attention or you will get lost fast. The online work is fair enough, but you need to take it seriously if you want to come out on top. I enjoyed her class and she was the best option for me. It was a tough semester and I am happy I made it!
I'm looking at YOU, take this class, trust me. There is no cumulative final, and for all the exams (4), the (short-ish) lab report IS the study guide, so ONLY read that (and a couple life cycles, which are easy), and boom easy A. Mostly memorization, but it's not hard. Online proctored exams too, write the online lectures in notebook and read those
Prof Haley was amazing and extremely caring & flexible when I was going through some tough circumstances. She's super straightforward. If you know the material (study the study guide), you WILL get the A. It's really not a hard class (as long as you're putting in the right amount of work, of course). 4 lab practicals & no cumulative final!
She organizes lab activities very neatly and accurately. Her lectures are very interesting, but you need to be very eager to ask questions and get feedback to learn better. She promotes biology learning and comprehension.
Take seriously the feedback of students.
Hybrid class, with online lectures and zoom meetings for lab. We worked in the lab together with other students. For an online lab it was engaging and fun. She will go over lecture material at the beginning of lab and would answer any questions.
Really love this class. Really well structured. She is kind and understanding. Only motivated me to do better. She really wants students to succeed.
I'd really give a 3.5. She's the sweetest professor and her class is average, but video lectures don't match online quizzes and lectures aren't the best either. Doesn't always answer emails. VERY understanding professor who's willing to work with you. Exams are lab practicals that are very easy compared to quizzes. Labs good too. YuJa's a pain.
This was a great class. Expectations were easy to follow. Lecture online that go along with fill in the blank lecture outline and proctor quiz. Lots of material, but engaging. Labs start with lab lecture follow by labs. Haley gives you all the guidance you need to be successful. Always available for students. Like any class need to put in the work.
