She is an awesome teacher. Way easier than the other Chem teachers. You will get an A if you just do the homework and review before the tests. Tests are about 40 questions and theres 5 of them. The test questions are the same as the homework ones.
Sister Patch is a super cute lady. Her expertise is definitely chemistry, and so some of the other topics we learn about she struggles teaching. She helps you when you need and is super easy to work with! The class is easy, if you just stay caught up. Science is not my forte, and I only ever had a few mental breakdowns. ;)
Very lopsided class. She like to help the students but isn't very clear with what she wants done and what is going one. I took a hybrid class so we only met once a week and communication with class schedule and happenings was poor.
Sis Patch is an awesome person!! Her class is kinds weird but it's a pretty easy A. Class was pretty pointless though. She doesn't really seem to check your work word by word and you get three chances to answer questions on iLearn.
She is a nice person, but the way she teaches is a tiny bit scattered. She loves science and her attitude is infectious, which I enjoyed a lot. Sister Patch read off of the board each class, didn't really teach it. Only about three tests in the class, the online portion is exactly what's on the test. Be prepared to teach yourself a little bit.
I enjoyed Sister Patch. Sometimes her lectures weren't very helpful and I was left confused, but if you struggle through the ALEKS program you can learn it on your own. The Aleks program can be really frustrating (it comprises half of the 5 tests) because it requires perfect accuracy. The tests are really tough but if you study hard you will pass.
This is actually my second time around taking Chem 101. For whatever reason I REALLY struggled with it the first time I took it. But Sister Patch made it so much easier. I absolutely love her teaching style. She cares about her students and wants them to succeed. I managed to get an A on all of the unit tests. Take her for this class!!
Ok teacher, class isn't bad. My biggest complaint was her inability to use I-learn and her lack of communication. She messed up on our attendance grades and it took her weeks to fix. She accidentally put the final as 66% of our grade and then sent out snippy email when we notified her. Took 3 weeks after the semester to get final grade.
She's passionate about chemistry, but rushes the lectures. Doesn't respond to emails until after the matter. She did give opportunities for extra credit and was a little more lenient when problems came up with ilearn or aleks. If you want to pass, expect to spend at least 10+ extra hoursweek studying and doing assignments outside of class.
This teacher is passionate about what she shares, but isn't as concerned for the students. It seems that enjoying the class is more important to her than helping us succeed. I found that no matter how hard I worked, I could not improve my grade. It was only a 2 credit class but felt like 4. The only advice I can give is to focus on the assignments.
A lot of reading and Homework for this course. Esther Patch was nice and her lectures were fine. She wasn't amazing but not a bad teacher a all. She was good about getting back to my emails. She obviously loved science.
She doesn't really teach the material. She goes over power points in class and gives them to you and then expects you to get information from them that are not on there. She rushes through lectures and does not really give good examples. If you take her, make sure that you have a good background in chemistry or friends who know what to do.
The quizzes in this class are hard, but I learned a lot. She is very nice and does her best to help you to understand chemistry. She does cool demonstrations in class that help to illustrate the topics she is teaching.
Sister Patch was a good professor. She knew what she was talking about. The quizzes and in depth questions were difficult at times so prepare for those. The tests are difficult as well so study well.
Ive enjoyed this class, but I have struggled some, do to the fact that the majority of the learning is placed on the student, and I have placed a greater emphasis on other courses.
I have loved Sister Patch! Previous chemistry classes I havent understood and Sister Patch made it a lot easier to understand the material.
Sister Patch is a really nice teacher and has a funny personality. She teaches the course well but I feel like there were a lot of tests and the tests were pretty difficult. If you do the study guides you should be ok but those are really long!
I really enjoyed the lectures that were given, especially whenever some experiments were performed. One thing I would suggest for improvement is to include how to solve certain problems in the slides that were given, or maybe through videos on ilearn. I found myself at times confused with certain problems and I wasn't sure how to solve them.
Sister Patch is a very nice lady! She is always super excited to teach and has a great passion for chemistry. The only graded material in the class are the quizzes and tests. There are study guides for every unit (not graded), however if done they will help A TON on the quizzes/tests. I used a tutor 2-3 times a week and that made all the difference
I suck at chemistry! But i will say Sister Patch is a super sweet lady. She is very nice teacher and gives you her best advice when someone is struggling. She is a pretty positive attitude type person. i would take her again just cause she is not boring and i just like her as a person.
Sister Patch is always very positive! She is also very passionate about chemistry. Sometimes I feel like it is hard for her to explain clearly the points she is trying to get across. In order for me to do well in this class I had to go to a tutor multiple times a week. But if you put in the effort it is very doable.
Sister Patch is really passionate about chemistry and is super nice but it is hard to understand the material at times.
Sister Patch loves chemistry but isn't very clear when she teaches certain concepts.
Sister Patch is an awesome person! She tries her best to make sure you understand. She is super sweet. This class is really hard, and so I had to go to the tutor multiple times a week. However, it is survivable if you put in the effort and go to the tutor.
She clearly cares for her students and loves what she is teaching. She gives a great effort to explain concepts, but the way she explains is generally difficult to understand. There were often times that she had a hard time answering questions the students asked as well. She knows the material, but she seems to have a harder time teaching it.
I enjoyed the teacher and found the class hard to follow. Her personality is great. she loves the subject tons but she does make a few mistakes during class. I feel though as we help correct her then i feel it helps measure how well we are learning. fun teacher and does help make students feel like they can understand.
She was very detailed when we asked for clarification or if we needed help with a problem, she would also make the class fun and exciting with expirements and class participation
Sister Patch is very open to discussion. She makes sure everyone is on the same page. She loves for the students to ask questions. She is always willing to stop her lecture to go over examples and make sure everyone is understanding the topic.
Sister Patch is a nice professor however her teaching style just did not do the difficult subject matter justice for me. We also never seamed to get through as much material as she planned on, therefore we always ended up having to rush at the end of the chapters right before our exams.
Sister Patch is super nice and understanding. She does her best to be there for her students and take their suggestions about things like due dates. She is very passionate about what she teaches. Although, I often felt that when I would ask questions, they weren't answered very clearly.
Sister Patch teaches with a positive and passionate attitude. She is willing to help and makes sure you understand the material. There were times where I felt she rushed through certain units. If you review your notes, finish the study guides, and ask questions you should be fine.
Sister Patch is a really caring professor. She is willing to work with students and is very passionate about Chemistry. She can be a little confusing when she explains things and I often had to teach myself the material. However, she posts study guides, very helpful videos, and the slides she uses in class for students who need additional help.
Sister Patch is like the energizer bunny of chemistry, our class was at 7:45 am and even when she was sick she was so upbeat about the material. there are only power point slides for material. which is lame go to the drop in lab! the first test is cake, but the one right after will kick you in the gonads (yes women have them too) if you don't study
Sister Patch is super nice, but her teaching can be scattered and confusing. I ended up mostly watching the Lab videos and teaching myself the material from there. She is very enthusiastic, outgoing, and has lots of energy, but that can lead to her going very, very quickly through material; some of which could use a slower, in depth explanation.
She knows what she is talking about. Sometimes has a tough time getting what she knows onto something to help the students. Will answer your questions as best as she can. Only graded on quizzes, and tests. Will curve the tests if every body will benefit from it (lots of 100's no curve). Could look at how to teach beginners a little better. Memorize
She is very energetic and passionate about Chemistry! However, I found her lectures confusing and her teaching very hard to follow. I had to go to a tutor every week, and I still struggled doing well on the exams. She does care about her students though and tries to help as best she can.
Doing the study guides in this class is key. If you can do every problem on your own, with no help, and you memorize everything you are told to memorize, you will be successful!
Patch makes her classes fun with object lessons and videos. She makes herself available to help her students understand the material. She'll go the extra mile to provide more practice. She goes over the tests after you take them so you learn from the mistakes. She cares about you understanding and gives good study tips. Easy to talk to.
Sister Patch is super sweet but she is a bit scatterbrained and often does not answer the actual questions you ask in class. There is no text book for this class and the power points that are posted online are lacking needed information. Unless you go to the tutor, you are toast. I am an A student but even going to the tutor twice a week I got a C.
Sister Patch is an awesome person and is very loving. She knows a lot about chemistry, but she is not a teacher. Often I found myself confused and and having to reteach myself a lot of the material! She will however answer any question you have if you ask. I don't recommend taking this course from her!
She has a passion for chemistry so that's good. She goes over a power point all of class and its not really clear on all subjects. I felt ill prepared to quizzes and test. What she puts on power points does not help too much. If you want to get a really good grade In her class, you will need to go to a tutor.
Very good about trying to answer questions. They were not always answered in the easiest way to understand. A lot of people came out more confused after the explanations.
Sister Patch is a great person, but her teaching is really confusing and scattered. I had to go to tutoring to understand most of the topics.
Esther Patch is an amazing teacher. She is the sweetest thing! I thought the class itself was hard but she helped us through it.
Sister Patch is a nice person. She is always willing to answer questions in class hours. sometimes i felt like we were not prepared for the schools chem 101 tests. Attendance isnt required but probably a good idea. No text book. 2 quizzes a week. one is multiply choice and actually pretty tough. 20 questions. Pretty laid back classroom.
Sister Patch loves chemistry and is really enthusiastic about it! She is sweet and understanding. If we didn't get to material in time for the weekly quiz she would extend the due date for us. If you go to class with questions and ask her to do specific examples it really helps.
Sister Patch is a sweet lady. This class can be really difficult because of the material, but the way that things are explained in class can be confusing. Make sure to get a group of people to study with and help each other out.
Sister Patch was super nice. She is the one of those teachers that tries to get to know her students. You aren't just a face to her. I felt like there were times she could have gone over concepts a little more thoroughly. There were some things that she forget to teach.
Sister Patch is super nice! She's so so sweet and really cares about getting to know you. There are about 2 quizzes per week and most of the times I didn't feel prepared. Attendance is important but most of the learning is outside of class. If you don't study outside the class, you won't be ready. Tutoring was my best friend.
Sister Patch is one of the nicest teachers you will ever meet. Guaranteed. She is friendly, super willing to work with you and will help you out with any questions you may have. Unfortunately, it was difficult to understand the material at times. She knows her stuff, but I thought she had a hard time giving it to you in a way where you understand.
teaches well but pften focuses on the wrong thing. I felt a little ill prepared for exams.
She doesn't seem to fully understand the material that she is teaching. When someone asks a question she flounders around a bit before answering.
Mrs. Patch really really cares about Chemistry. She loves it, its her life, and her enthusiasm for the subject is endearing. Her teaching is ok, but the course rolls along assuming that you know your algebra, which took me by surprise, as i did not. scienceinteresting, but the sheer numberness of it overwhelmed me. Group work would help a lot.
I go to class but i am not able to comprehend what my professor is trying to teach. If I didn't go to tutoring I would not understand a single piece of the material.
Sister Patch is a really nice person and she really loves chemistry, but she makes everything really hard to understand. I never missed a class and even though i was there i feel like i wasn't learning. she just reads off a power point and calls it good. I learned everything from tutoring and YouTube videos. Be prepared to teach yourself.
Sister Patch made classes enjoyable. She loves science and it shows.
Not the best teacher I've ever had. Can't give students a straight answer for anything. You can tell she has a passion for chemistry but can't teach it well.
Sister Patch's class was enjoyable because you could tell how passionate she is about the subject. If chemistry is not one of your strong points then I would strongly advise forming a study group or going to a tutor because she does move quickly in class so you will have to review most concepts on your own. Over all I did learn a lot in the class.
Professor Patch was an excellent teacher. She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed in this class. She will go through questions and try to answer them as best as she can and try to make it easy for you to understand and learn the concepts.
Professor Patch is a great teacher. She is enthusiastic and energetic. She comes prepared to class everyday and I suggest you do the same (do the study guide and ask questions). She gives you resources to study and be prepared. Something that helped me was going to class with the notes already written so I could just absorb what she was teaching.
shes a pretty good teacher, and does teach well on occasions, other than that the subject itself is confusing if you dont show up to class.
You won't be able to find a more caring and understanding person than Sister Patch. She's willing to work with you, extends deadlines, etc. However, although she does know most of the material, her teaching ability is lacking. If you don't want to have to teach yourself a lot of the material outside of class, take chem 101 another professor.
I really enjoyed being in Sister Patchs class. Sometimes explanations were not as clear as I had hoped they would be, but for the most part she does a good job. She is very good at letting students as their questions. I appreciate that. It shows that she cares.
You leave class more confused about life than before you walked in. Shes nice but assumes to much of the students. Youtube and tutor are the real teachers but even they cant prepare you for her tests. For every hour of class expect 4-5 hours of outside work just to understand the concepts. My advice is to take someone else if you can. Good luck
Sister Patch knows a lot. However, when I had questions, she kind of had a hard time giving me a clear answer. I do like how she did the homework system. There was a study guide you did on your own and a quiz on the computer every week. I got through this class going to a tutor weekly.
sometimes I struggled following her. She didn't always keep my attention during lectures. She is good at taking questions and answering the best she can.
Sister Patch is fantastic! I had a lot of personal and family problems that came up during my semester and she was there helping me out and working with me. She is very understanding that crap happens and if you have legitimate reasons she will work with you. The class is difficult and could be organized differently but that's the departments fault
Sister Patch is a good teacher. what makes the class difficult is the amount of information she needs to get through in a single class period is overwhelming and hard to follow. The study guides and slides have not been updated and don't reflect very well the quizzes and test content. tutor is a must if your going to even a B in class.
Sister Patch is an excellent and knowledgeable teacher and loves chemistry! She makes the class interesting with her enthusiasm and chem jokes. There are a lot of tests but they are identical to the study guides she gives you to work on by yourself. If you do the work and study a couple hours a day you should do great.
Great class!
I think Professor Patch is really great lady. She's very kind and always willing to help. However, I had a hard time following along with her lectures. They were not always clear and she sometimes turned to the students for help on a subject.
It was a good class just hard to follow along in the lecture.
I'm a chemistry major. Im taking chem 105 right now and so far I have a B+ in that class. I love chemistry, but the way sister patch explained it was horrible. She's really nice, but not a good teacher. When it comes to a heavy subject you need a great teacher. I regret taking her I got a C- in her class I know I could of done better.
Terrible. said enough
What a worthless class. Especially as a requirement for the nursing program, this was a very disappointing Chemistry lab. I went through all of the demonstrations in my Chem 101 class anyway. The teacher was very nice and provided feedback. This is a glorified critical-thinking course. Look forward to your actual science labs.
Sister Patch was really nice. If I had a question she was usually pretty quick to respond. She does not talk down to you. I took Chem 101 L from her and she makes sure that we know she has office hours where you can call or email her if you are struggling. Some of the study guide questions were hard for me to follow but she helped a lot.
Sister Patch does not know what she is talking about. There were a couple kids that would constantly have to correct her because she was doing an equation wrong. There was no textbook so it was impossible to teach yourself. I went to the tutors two or three times a week and I still got a C in the class. Do not recommend.
You know the quote, "an explosion in a printing press doesn't produce a book"? After taking her class I feel that making sense of an explosion in a printing press could be achieved by a small child in comparison to taking on the mammoth task of untangling the swamp garbage taught. She doesn't even understand what she is teaching, its pretty sad.
You're only graded on two things. she has this thing at the end of semester where she only gives you one day to ask questions about your grade and then she just won't respond to emails. What a 'great' teacher. the grading is dumb, her slow response is dumb, etc. One of my assignments had no grade but since I answered after, I get no grade! how sad.
Esther Patch is very helpful and quick to respond to emails. She is willing to work with you to explain concepts and ensure you are learning the material. She also offers 2 extra credit points a week which is super helpful!
I honestly don't get all the hate that she receives. She gives you extra credit if you do the work before the last day and she would always message me back the same day if I had gotten something wrong and would let me redo it. Its only a tough class if you've never taken any chemistry before but she is very willing to help. Easy A in my opinion.
I really appreciate the feedback sister patch gives! When I don't understand something on an assignment, she really takes the time to explain it to me in her feedback and make sure I grasp the concept. She doesn't need to do that, and I'm grateful that she does. I can tell she cares if I understand.
Sister Patch is extremely hard to get a hold of and communicate with. The chemistry lab is extremely time consuming and overall very confusing. She is a very tough grader and doesn't explain why you missed points. Overall a very difficult class, and would absolutely not take again.
We understand that she is busy with her own life but I dont think this is an excuse to help the students learn. Lectures are already provided. When we had questions, she barely helps us in understanding the scenario or the problem. Her feedback is likenot quite/not correct answer for #1. I believe she knows chemistry but she struggles to teach.
Her essay questions are not clear and she is a very harsh grader. She's also terrible at getting back to emails. Don't take her.
Weekly essay questions and quizzes on info that isn't always in the lecture videos, so they can be difficult. She gives good feedback on the essay questions tho, and an extra point if you turn it in early! I don't know how she could have made the class better though because it's an online lab so I don't think the class being mid had to do with her!
She is passionate about Chemistry and wants her students to succeed. However, the assignments given usually don't correspond very well with the videos/study material given throughout the week. The material is usually fairly simple, but because it's not super greatly executed it's near impossible to receive a 100 on most essay assignments. Fun Class

I did not like Sister Patch. Her grading feedback was very broad, not very specific, and extremely strict. Several times I felt that I answered the questions to the fullest and did not receive the full credit. She was very hard to get a hold of because she only was available one day of the week at one specific time.
Wasn't super accessible outside of class. Gave poor feedback such as, "not quite", "try again", or "no calculations" when I very clearly wrote out each step of my calculations. The grading criteria is very poor and it's hard to make up points because there are big assignments for very little points.
Courseload was doable and overall exams are easy if you study properly. As long as assignments are submitted fully and on time, you'll pass with an A. Weekly quizzes are not proctored and you have two attempts. There are 6 exams including the final - these are proctored but only 33 questions each (50 question comprehensive final.)
