Excellent professor! She brings enthusiasm and fun to a required class that most people dread. She understands distaste and fear when it comes to the class topic, and is willing to work with you on both issues. She is extremely approachable. Her grading is fair and clear, and her feedback is very helpful. Take Star if you have to take speech.

Very clear and fun to have as a teacher. She grades some what hard but she lets you know what you did wrong so you can improve next time. She was willing to help too and you could email her any time and she would respond back to you. Taking her class makes you a better speaker!

Although she was only in class for about half a semester (she just gave birth recently), I thought she was a good professor. I know most will only take this class because it's a requirement (GUILTY), but she actually made this class fun and something that I looked forward to attending. Note: I am a shy person, but I ended up enjoying this class.

Star is awesome. I was so bummed when she went into labor. There are no tests, only 10 quizzes worth 10 pts each. 10 journals worths 10 pts each, a group presentation and a final paper. The class is easy and star is great. She makes class fun and will even let you leave early some days.

Star is one of the best professors I have ever had! I took her for summer. It was a lot of work, make sure to be on time, she gives LOTS of quizzes/journal assignments. No big tests. She makes learning fun. This class was definitely hard! But she does a good job of helping you when you need it and makes it fun. Be ready for lots of hard work!

Star is a great teacher. She made class worth going to. Attendance is a MUST, as there are tons of in class activities that are worth points. She gives out simple one page journals as homework. Quizes are easy, as long as you pay attention to the student presentations! No tests, and you only have to get in front of the class to talk once!!!!

AWESOME!!!! she knows how to use demonstrations to prove things, the speeches are easy, she is flexible and very nice. Just don't use um, like, yeah, etc in your speeches you will get marked down. participate! you wont regret taking her =D

Really good teacher! She made public speaking seem easy and had really good activities!My only complaint is that she was sometimes unclear about what she expected. Not on the big things but on small details. Overall, she is a wonderful teacher! Would definitely take her again!

This teacher is awesome. She is very clear. There is 10 journals, 10 quizzes, one reflection paper 5-8 pages and a final. Pretty easy class as long as you show up and study your notes. I highly recommend plus shes funny and real laid back.

She is wonderful. Young and fun and full of stories. She is very clear and insightful. I learned alot. She isn't too hard, but dont cross her. Highly recomend taking her for Speech9!

IDK what you all are talking about...Star ROCKED!!! We did have a lot of homework, but WDY expect? It was a 6 week class!! The only quiz I didn't get back was the one that got stolen when she said her car got broken into. Give her a break! I loved the instructor, she is fun and I learned a lot..I got your back Star! One of the best I have ever had!

Do not take this class. For our Spring session i found her to be extremely feminist and unhelpful. She expects you to be a perfect speaker on your third day in class(when is your first speech) other wise you will fail. If you fail one speech drop the class, because there is nothing else you can do to pass....... terrible teacher

I dont know what you negative people are talking about. Star is an awsome teacher. She explains clearly, gives good examples and is very understanding. she does give a lot of work but still, the work makes you think and thats good. And she is very helpful and is always there for her students.

I'm shocked that anyone has a single bad thing to say about Star. I was terrified of this class, and it quickly became my favorite from the semester. Star is sweet and helpful. The only work she gave us was basically our speeches. Yeah we had drafts and quizzes, but they all revolved around the work we were already supposed to be started on.

Mrs. Romero is probably the nicest professor I have ever had. The quizzes and test were a little hard but we also had a sub to start off the year. Most important was the debates and stuff which she is very generous when it comes to grading them. It also helps a little but that she is very pretty.

Star Romero is a very good professor. She is a hard grader, but you will learn how to present an effective speech. She's nice and makes the class seem less intimidating. You need to attend class and be on time.

DONT BUY TEXTBOOK! Shell say you need it but we never once opened it! Aside from that shes an amazing teacher! i was scared of public speaking but she makes you feel comfortable when doing speeches. Her class is easy if you follow directions and use her outlines to write your speeches. seriously imossible to fail unless your beyond stupid!

I loved this instructor. She is very friendly and approachable. She will tell you exactly what she wants from your work, what you're not doing, and how you could change it to improve. Class environment is very comfortable.

I was kind of nervous taking this class because she let you know up front what she expected from everyone. However, she is awesome at what she does by the end of the semester everyone was comfortable speaking. She does quiz after every lecture but its not that difficult.

I took this class during the winter session of 2013 and it was a great class. If you are not comfortable with public speaking, she will teach you techniques to help you overcome your fears. Best Public speaking teacher I ever had.

she is inconsistent with dates that assignments are due, one week it will be saturday at 9 then next week it will be friday at 7. very frustrating. She grades harshly on speeches. Last week I had to do my speech while i was coughing and sneezing and she seriously docked me for not being loud enough -.-

I'm taking Star's class now and I actually LOVE her. Some of the speeches are really boring, but you can tell she tries to keep it interesting. The feedback she gives is really helpful. She even sends us text message reminders to help us with the online assignments. VERY HELPFUL! I've never had a professor do this before. I totally recommend her!

she is very helpful in her lectures. she makes class very interesting and help you improve on your communication and love life. There are after each chapter and they are based on the lecture. you don't need to read the book unless u want to. Her homework assign. are interesting. I always looked forward to this class.

Dr. Estrella Romero is a great teacher. She is very passionate about her field of teaching. You can learn a lot to help you in your personal relationships, as well as helping yourself to become a better communicator. It was one of those classes where you enjoy going to class to learn. Took the Hybrid course with Star. She was such a great professor, always willing to help. Answers all emails and provides great feedback every time. She's interested me into the field of communications. Recommend for any type of student.

Star is an amazing instructor. I am terrified of public speaking, but her class is so fun and relaxed that it was a joy. There is little homework or class work and I never opened a book. She made the speeches fun and I looked forward to them, I even participated in the RCC speech competition because of her encouragement. My B grade was my mistake.

Mrs. Star is such a sweetie pie! She is so nice & she is genuinely intelligent. She is super good-looking too! Besides that, she is super fair, and she is unbelievably accommodating. She is reasonable, because her class is not ridiculously easy, but she is a just grader.

I took her hybrid summer class, and it was a ton of work, but overall im so happy I took this class! I was TERRIFIED, to say the least, to talk in front of people but so was everyone else which eased the tension A LOT! And she is VERY helpful and leaves really good feedback on your speeches, shes a fair grader and knows public speaking isn't easy!

Mrs. Romero looks for improvement in a student and not perfection... which was great for me since I was terrified of speaking in front of a class! Over all she is a great professor.

Dr. Star is the best professor, at least in my opinion. She is very professional and intelligent. She isn't going to put up with anyone's interruptions though. She is smart and she wants the best for her students. Her class is really not hard, as long as you show up. I am now in her COM-1 and enjoying it and doing great!

I took Star for com 1 for hybrid. For my first hybrid class it was tough, but she's there for you all the way. Any questions you have she will answer them quickly. Star is honestly the best and will prepare you like no other. Much time and research goes into the speeches and there is no "winging" it, but you WILL learn a lot. Take her, do ittt.

Professor Romero is inspirational! She gives honest critiques and offers great feedback to her students. The test seemed a little off from the study guides, so you need to do some in depth studying. Other than that she's an awesome professor!

Dr. Romero is AMAZING! I took her hybrid Com-1 course, and she was the most understanding, personable instructor on campus! She gives great feedback and makes you feel comfortable talking in front of people. Her standards are high, which is benefit to the student. Loved her and her course!

Star is the reason I had decided I want to teach Communications. I learned so much about communicating in her com 3 class. Pay attention and do all of the work she assigns. You will do 3 debates in this class. Fact (1vs1) Value (2vs2) Policy (4vs4). Policy was my favorite! She gives lots of extra credit so take advantage of it. STUDY STUDY STUDY!

Estrella (Star) Romero is a very caring and easy going professor. This class does require participation and research but it isn't that hard because the topics are based on what you are interested in. Tests are a bit confusing but the debates are what you get the most points in. Individual and Group debates.

Estrella is an amazing professor who really is passionate about her job. She does what ever she can to help her students out and provides so much extra credit, its impossible to fail her class. She assigns a 2 page essay every week and gives a quiz every week too. I really recommend her for anyone who actually wants to learn and have fun.

Super Hot. Organized. Polite. Able to get children all in one place and a ball buster if you cross her. Take her class. She was great.

Star Romero is the most committed professor at RCC. She clearly explains what you need to improve on. She wants to see improvement and effort, do both and you'll pass the class.

Star is an awesome teacher. She really takes into account the insecurities or fears that students have and doesn't mark you down for being nervous. I took her class over the summer and it was a lot of work, but if it's taken over fall/spring it won't be too bad. During your speeches just follow her basic requirements and you'll pass no problem.

Dr. Romero is an amazing, passionate, caring professor! She guides you through everything. She's very helpful, encouraging, and understanding. She doesn't mess around though. I was dropped in an instant for a couple of tardies and/or maybe an absent. So show up on time, every time! She's great and I'd take her again :)

Just as a heads up I took 3 classes with her: COM 1, 9, and 3. I cannot recommend Professor Romero enough. Her classes I found both extremely easy yet engaging. She is easy going as long as you show up to class, but is there to help you when needed. She was so inspirational to me I might even change course to become a Communications Professor too.

Her class is easy, just do the work and pay attention. She's very inspirational and understanding. She let me redo a paper for full credit because I misunderstood the assignment. I love her!

Class was very fun even for having speech anxiety, dont expect to be able to get out of any speeches. Participation was very important but mainly dont miss speech days. Star responds to emails very fast and is very understanding. Her grading is great since she grades based off of how much you improve.

I loved her class! She is such a nice person, down to earth, and humble. Star responds to e-mail as soon as she can if you ever have questions. When you go up to present she makes you feel proud of yourself by boosting your confidence before the speech by stretching and breathing. There are a total of 5 presentations so don't miss any or you fail!

She is a great professor but she does grade hard on your speeches. If you study your speech you should do fine. Allows you to use notes on quizzes.

Great teacher. Very caring and wants all students to do well. There is a decent amount of work with each speech and she expects you to always come to class prepared. You will spend a lot of time preparing for each speech. I learned a lot and she helped me improve my public speaking skills.

I took her hybrid class. We had to do the work at home and turn it in online which wasn't bad because the work was straight forward and easy to finish on time. We mainly used class time to do test (which are open note) and present speeches. She made public speaking interesting and fun.

Professor Star was such a great teacher. I took her for Com 9, and what makes her so great is that she is passionate about her work and just spreads amazing vibes all around. I rarely used the textbook, I only used it towards the end. Her homework is not that bad at all. Highly recommend! Great class!

She is such a great teacher. Not only are her lectures fun, but you get to participate and actually learn a lot of useful tactics. The tests and pop quizzes aren't too difficult just make sure you read the chapter and go over the notes. Highly recommend, she's great!

Professor Romero is my favorite teacher by far that Ive ever taken. Her class is well organized and everything that she teaches is so interesting which makes the class 100x better. The style in which she teaches sets you up for success you just have to be willing to do all the work and its an easy A. 11/10 recxomend taking her shes the best!!

Best class Ive taken here at rcc! She is a great professor! Even if you have speech anxiety, she makes everyone feel calm by breathing and stretching before every class session. She gives really good feedback for your speeches, so you can do better on your next speech! If you follow her speech rubric, you should get an easy A! 5 total speeches!

While I was at RCC I took Dr. Romero twice just because of how awesome of a professor she was. By far the best professor at RCC and she knows how to teach in an understandable and respectable way. She knew the whole classes name two weeks in and she made it obvious that she cared about you as a student and person. Class is a breeze thanks to her.

Star is absolutely wonderful! She is such a genuine and kind person who is devoted to helping you feel comfortable and helping you improve. Com is a class that many people dread and she's well aware and does her best to make it great. I took the Hybrid and it was overall and easy class with tons of extra credit opportunities! She's one of the best prof. anyone could ask for - especially for public speaking. She's very poised and always gives you kind but constructive feedback on how to improve. Star's understanding and is easily accessible through email and Canvas. Her fun/relaxed demeanor helps calm your nervousness before a speech, along with her breathing exercises.

If you struggle with anxiety I suggest you take her because she really makes you feel comfortable while you are up there talking. She is very passionate about teaching and it shows. I had her for my Com 1 class and she is an amazing teacher. 3 important speeches but there EASY. after a speech she gives you feed back on how you did and not what to do. no book necessary. She has a great Attitude. Just show up and do the easy work and you'll pass.

When you do have to give your speeches, she is very good and giving you feedback on how you can do better. I took her for a 2nd class (Argumentation & Debate) and she was great in that class too. I got a B in Com1 because I didn't study enough for the exams. Great class

Professor Romero is an amazing professor! She inspired me to switch my major from business to communication. She is understanding and cares for each student as long as you do the work which is simple and easy. I would definitely recommend taking her and would 100% take her class again.

Star is the best professor I've had my entire college experience and I moved on to university. The professors at my university have nothing on her. She is there for all of her students and is always willing to help. She gives amazing lectures and she will teach the proper material without making it unnecessarily hard. TAKE HER!

Dr. Romero is an amazing professor. She made the subject of Gender Communications extremely interesting. The expectations are clear right from the beginning. She provides a very detailed syllabus and a schedule. Discussions are mandatory and very interesting. You will have to read the book and see lectures to pass the quizzes.

She was a good teacher and she was very clear on what material was on the quizzes and tests. She also gave more than enough time to prepare for speeches. The only bad thing I would say is that she does take awhile to grade assignments especially speeches.

She was very relatable and made sure to further explain topics to make them understandable. She used real world examples to help students learn the main topics. Her grading was easy to understand and follow. She made great suggestions and comments to your work. She was very inspirational and understanding in regards to her students.

Honestly, such an easy A! She was clear on what she wanted, and if follow the example speeches this will be the easiest class ever! I took this online during a heavy workload semester, and I'm glad I did.

I took this class for alternate for English 1B because I'm planning to transfer to Cal State but she has to be one of my favorite teachers so far her lectures are easy to understand her papers are the most easiest thing to write I really enjoyed this class and she made it fun and she's really good on feedback or help

Dr. Estrella Romero was great and it really shows that she cares about her students. She's not a tough grader at all and as long as you do the assignments and just try you're guaranteed a good grade. Loved her.

Professor Romero runs a straightforward class. Following the examples and using unstuckstudy for study prep made this an easy A. Manageable workload, just stay engaged.

Pros: No Lockdown browser, no proctor, Professor gives lectures every chapter she is very entertaining. Easy quizzes, Easy Midterm/final. Cons: Maybe long lectures? You can just read the book. Paper end of course only 5 pages, easy to write not restrictive at all. Great, kind, caring amazing professor, Easy A, take this course thank me later.
