Horrible teacher! Doesn't like to answer questions. Doesn't teach she just goes through her power points. Thinks that everyone knows and understands chem. Don't recomend this teacher at all!
guys...this teacher is very helpful...dont listen to what others have to say...i got to know her really well...and got a lot of help from her...she is great...yes...i made a B+, but i had an A before the final...final was not hard...i just did not study...my fault..i mean hey...this is college...you gotta study to do well
Good teacher.I had a chaotic semester with travel and she was wonderfully flexible with everything!3 out of 5 exams were take home.Lecture attendance not mandatory.Lab attendance is!U get 3 note cards per test!Extra credit available.CHM is a hard class regardless.She's helpful if you come to office hours!Wants students to succeed!
Dr. Owusu is extremley helpful, she wants you to succeed and will do anything to help you. This is a hard class but she really tries to make everything clear so you get it. I hated chemistry and now I love it because of Dr. Owusu, she is really sweet and believes in her students. She gives you 3 note cards for your tests which helps alot, I got a B
Honestly, the comments made by these students are not so accurate. Dr.O is a nice lady, but her teaching style is the worst I have had in college yet. She grades tests at her own convenience, she does not make time to help those in need, she does not welcome questions, her lectures are incomprehensible. Made Chemistry a chore. NOT recommended!
I'm in her online/hybrid section, and I do not recommend taking online chem at all. We're at a major disadvantage and having to teach complex concepts to ourselves. As for Dr. O, a sweet lady indeed, but very disorganized and unfit for academe. We got our course grades AFTER the drop period. She needs to use her PhD to do research, not teach.
Owusu is a nice lady, but she's a scientist, NOT a teacher. Her lectures are all over the place, she can't follow her own syllabus... it was a frustrating class and I'm glad its over.

Great teacher. Yes, she is hard but this is college and if you study and work hard in class you will do fine. You will learn in class not just get a grade.
Dr O has the potential to be a great teacher. She is very well educated and knows her stuff. I think she just lacks a passion for teaching, which is not a crime. However, it does take her a while to give tests back, so you are not always clear where you stand.
I believe she is a great person, very friendly, but when it comes to chem, I had a hard time understanding. Unfortunately, a complex subject should take time and that's the one thing that the class was lacking. We raced through powerpoints, and help was hard to find. Questions are not very welcome. If you miss class, it puts you behind.
Horrible. The MOST disorganized semster of my college career. Grades were NOT accurately represented to different students. DOES NOT like questions. Makes students feel inadaquate for asking them because evidently we should know it all. Power points were useless I taught myself this material. POOR example of a "teacher." DO NOT TAKE EVER!
Teacher has a nice personality but man oh man she should not be teaching! Test's do not reflect what is taught. Teacher teaches straight out of book, so you have to teach yourself! Gives extra credit and if she didn't you would fail. Waste of money and time because you don't learn anything!

Shes not that bad, YOU DO HAVE TO STUDY, this is not an easy class but were in college. Make good cards for her test. She really does want everyone to pass and she is wiling to help whenever. Basically come to class, study, do the HW & extra HW she gives. The class isint to bad if you put some work into it.
I agree with the comment below she is a nice person & she does want everyone to pass. She gives you 3 4x6 note cards for her test which help alot.You do need to study a lot for this class. If your going for nursing I just found out you can take CHM1025 (both counslers told me this) a lil harder but more teachers available.
Wow, she's really not that bad. She's very nice and explains well. Tests stray a little from her notes but if you understand and study, you'll do fine with the 3 cards you can use. Online HW's are a little hard. I didn't have the textbook and got an A. Just study and do the example problems and you'll be fine.

This is not an easy class but if you study and ask for help you can pass. She uses power points for each unit so there is minimal notetaking. It's in your best interest to put in LOTS of study time outside of class. Dr. is has lots of available office hours, so don't hesitate to ask for help if you need it. She wants her students to do well!
If you go to class and pay attention you will probably do well. You get points for attending class and there's an extra credit question at the end of every class, so those are easy points. Dr. O is willing to help and wants you to do well. I didn't buy the book and did fine by just using her lecture notes. I def recommend her.

She is a true chemist nerd and is always making these ridiculous chemistry jokes that are funny only because she is so excited about it.She really provides you with everything that you need to do well in her class.She is an awesome teacher and insists that you do well

Dr. O knows chemistry very well. It takes a week or so to be able to completely understand her dialect. She is a very nice lady and wants her students to succeed. If you go to class and pay attention you will learn alot. She is a great teacher IMO.

Dr Owusu is a very nice lady! She is wiling to help you all the time. Chemestry itself is hard. If you study, go to class, take notes and study her slides you should be fine and do great on her tests! go to her office whenever you neld help, she is alaways happy to help you.
Dr. O is great.She loves what she does, she will come after you PERSONALLY and make sure that she helps you to succeed. Book not needed, pay attention to slides, study, COME TO CLASS(xtra credit blue book ? and counts as ur attendance for the day). NO easy outs in chem, put forth the effort and you will def. succeed!
I cannot understand how anyone could like how Dr. O teaches this class. She fell really behind in our class and then rushed us through the rest of the material, which was the most difficult stuff. I would not recommend her as a teacher.
Dr. O is hard, but she goes above and beyond to help her students. Don't miss class, do the homework, study lecture notes, and attend study sessions. You will succeed. She loves questions so don't listen to the other posters. She is one of the best professors I ever had.
first of all u don’t need a text book. Second of all its chem. so yes its hard but very doable she gives u completed power points of everything u need to learn. her test are not that bad especially because she lets u bring 3 notepads to the test :) i definitely enjoyed her class

One of the best chem teachers i have ever had! if u go to class and take notes its impossible to fail her course. She is extremely helpful when u need explanations too. I highly recommend her!
She was great! She does have an accent, but a few days of hearing her lecture you catch on. She is funny and makes chemistry fun. You really don't need to buy the book, I don't think I have even opened mine. I definately recommend her!
DO NOT TAKE HER! If you wanna pass, find someone else! She does not add information on angel when she says she will. Wiley homework is useless and does not help at all. She is always late to lab and class. She rushes students and makes you feel stupid when asking ?'s.Test's are impossible and she says you have 80 minutes when she is never on time.
had her over the summer for 6 weeks she was awesome dont need text book just her notes get to use notes on test 3 note cards u could fail every test and as long as u do the other work u will automatically pass with at least a c would recommand her to everyone she makes it really fun and she loves chemistry
Dr. Owusu is hard to understand sometimes because of her accent. She's a nice lady but I think there are better chem teachers out there. She's kind of unorganized and throw LOADS of information (coming from 100 different places) at you before each test. She's not a bad teacher I did well in her class she's just all over the place.
She doesn't help out when you don't understand something she just tells you to go to the tutor. She never posts any grades. She's not very clear about things and she doesn't stick to the powerpoints or wiley when it comes to taking a test. I would not take her again

Dr. Owusu's class is very hard. Especially if you make the mistake of taking it in hybrid form. You do a lot of at home learning. Dr. O is an awesome teacher though and really wants you to do well. You will learn a lot in her class, for me Chemistry in general is just really hard. Class attendence is part of your grade.
Procrastinator, Unorganized, Always feels like her toes are being stepped on when you ask questions. Crams everything last minute, doesnt update grades, Wont post complete power points until after she finishes lecture and doesnt use the book. Assigned work all the way up to the final and couldnt even study for the final. RIDICULOUS
Dr O was a great teacher. She has a genuine love and enthusiasm for chem. She gives extra credit for attendance and those who simply participate. Chem isnt easy. Just speak up- If you need further explanation she'll do it. I had a D in high school chem and got an A in her class. Phones off and not arriving late isn't much to ask. Highly recc'd!

Dr. O is intelligent and really knows her stuff. Sometimes she can be un clear on what she expects from students. However she does give students numerous opportunities to succeed in her class i.e. extra credit, office hours, study sessions. I would take her again.

Whomever rated this teacher as a good teacher is crazy. She is great in the beginning but hardly ever lets you out of class early. She makes you take the test in lab which is AFTER you have already started learning a new unit. She expects you to know and understand all your work. I think she could care less is you pass or not!
She was very nice when she wanted to be. Do not take this class in 12 weeks, i would prefer Fall or Spring. Hard Class but a harder teacher. She goes fast so if you need extra time you really don't get it. Doesn't really go off book and hard to find material in book. Prefer taking 2days/week class. Good Luck!
I hate Chemistry. I was apprehensive @ 1st because I was tricked into taking this as a hybrid class and Owusu was out of country for the 1st 2 weeks. Ended up being a good experience. She gives you loads of extra credit just for attending. Not easy, but she is more than willing to help you if you'll let her. Would take another chem class cuz of her
A little rubbish. She's seemed like she hated grading because of how long it takes her to do it and she will show up late and make you stay behind to cover it. She teaches the material alright but if you have a poor grip of things to start, don't look to her for help.
Found the class VERY easy. She gives you a lot of extra credit and enough work so you shouldn't have a problem passin. Nice, however does not like to grade test in a timely manner. Not very helpful if your not getting it. Very unpredictable.
She is a brilliant woman, but not a good teacher. She speaks SO incredibly fast and makes you feel dumb for not learning at the pace that she speaks. Also, her tests are really hard. Study a lot, but even still when I would study for weeks, they would be way too long for such short testing time. Class averages sometimes were in the 50's. Good luck.
Dr O is an excellent teacher, you must read your syllabus, listen in class, and follow all of her instructions. If you do you will ace the class. The people who had trouble would wait until right before the test to complain about the work due to not studying. You must study every day.. no lie. If you do you will be rewarded.

Dr. Owusu is really a great professor. Everything she tests on is in he notes, which are avaliable on angel and you can print them! I never used the book and passed with an A. She does not ask trick questions. Labs are super easy. As long as you fill out the paper work you'll get a good grade. Blue book extra credit questions are easy. WILL HLEP!
She is difficult to understand and talks really fast. You get use to it as the semester goes on. Always attend class. Print the powerpoint notes bc she does move kind of fast sometimes. You will need to study more than right before the test. But she is good a teacher, always will to help during office hours.

This class is no joke. Must study many hours. Test are extremely hard. She does allow note card so pick examples to solve problems. She offers several study sessions and office hours which are somewhat helpful. The best thing about this class is she gives opportunities such as attendance, blue book points, and homework for points on test.
This is chemistry so its hard. She tries to teach it in fun way and show her love of chem. She goes above and beyond to help out with study sessions and open hours. Test are very hard and this class requires an excessive amount of study time if you take hybrid. Which I DO NOT recomend for chem!!
I had Dr. Owusu two years ago. I've since moved on to a science degree at a University. I had to come back here and tell people at SFC that she is great. The big shot Chem professors at 4-year schools won't give you the time of the day. April (Dr. Owusu) will work with you until you get it. She is incredible and SFC is lucky to have her.
Dr. Owusu is so passionate about chem she. She goes way out of her way to help her students: study sessions, office hours, assistance exta credit, notecard on tests. It is a hard class you have to put many hours to get a good grade. She only tests you on material she went over in lecture.
Dr. O is a great teacher. The class should be a 5 hour course with the amount of time needed. You have to study for this class, if you are taking other hard classes with this I would not suggest. Grades will take time to get back because she is overworked. Just keep track of your grades yourself. Sit in the front also.
Hybrid form of this class is a lot more difficult. Come to every class & study! Dr.O is very funny & personable. Her accent is not that hard to look past. The life saver of this class is the note card you can bring to every test. Lab is easy & hm is easy seeing you have three attempts & answers are given after the 1st. Chem is hard regarless.

Dr. O is a great teacher. She's clearly is very passionate about her field, she's very energetic and excited about what she's teaching. Attendance is MANDATORY if you expect to do well as there are several things that she'll teach that WILL be on the test. I found online access code VERY helpful and worth the money.

Dr. O wants you to succeed, but you HAVE to put in the time. I had to take the class hybrid because of my work schedule, which I do NOT recommend. Attend any office hours you can, and study every day. She really is a pleasant teacher.

Horrible teacher. Her online connect Hw is confusing tedious unhelpful and takes hours upon hours I had her for lecture and Lerner for Lab. Lerner nearly slammed my hand in a door. And Owusu never answered any of my questions.
I took hybrid, which I would not recommend unless you have a strong chemistry background. Youtube videos taught me as much as lectures did, but you have to study a LOT! She pads the grade with 2% of EC, but if you do not spend the time studying, you will fail. Dr. O is always pleasant to deal with, and she wants you to succeed. I got a 93% overall.
Lets be clear Chemistry is not an easy topic, but Dr. O. Make it understandable I had no chemistry background and English is my third language and I passed her class. Dr. O is willing to sit with you till you understand the material.
Dr. Owusu-Nukunya's class was fun and exciting during lectures. Unfortunately, her lectures just barely scratched the surface of our curriculum, and so the class was assigned hours upon hours of prelabs, postlabs, LearnSmart Connect Assignments, and other homework. It was never made fully clear during class when homework was assigned.

The class was very disorganized, the learn smarts were very hard to do and each slide for the PowerPoints was discussed VERY quickly just so she could say we went over it and can justify testing you on it. if this is your only class you would probably do fine but if you have more than just this class, don't take it.
Dr. O normally teaches CHM1030, and her lack of understanding of the Chem 1 content was obvious. Aside from being confusing, lectures never reflected the HW. Her HW didn't reflect exams, either. Ran away from me when I tried to ask questions about the material after class. Changed assignments frequently. Untrustworthy, so W'd despite B+ course avg.
The class was very challenging to me, but Dr.O was a big help, she will help you when you need it. just make sure you go to lecture and labs. I enjoyed the class. she lets you work in groups in class and she tries to help you as much as possible. Sometimes she gives a lot of work, but the class work and the labs are really what saved my grade.

The grade is up to the student. If you work hard, do your homework, participate in class and pay attention you will do fine. Don't look for a hand out here. This class is not easy, but it's worth it. The content that you learn is useful in the medical field.
if you want to take her MAKE SURE ITS NOT DURING SUMMER she makes lectures so long and boring and goes extremely fast. i have a 4.0 GPA and she's made my life miserable considering i am a good student. she barely writes on the board and expects you to have photographic memory with all 500 formulas for her IMPOSSIBLE TEST. i do not recommend her.
She teaches material the morning of the exam and expects you to know it. Always late to class and lab. Posts hw after the exam so it's not to your benefit. Seems annoyed when asked to slow down during lecture. Zooms through ppts. Makes people bring candy when they're late BUT SHE'S ALWAYS LATE HERSELF. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Owusu is overall nice but she's always late to class and calls people out on it when she is always late herself. She teaches last minute test material the day of the exam. She also expects you to know a million equations for everything. I NEVER EVER do bad in a class and this class was way more tough and stressful than it needed to be.
REALLY helped out with grading (partial credit etc).Read ahead in your book. It's not an easy class . She gives you all the formulas you need on the test as a 'cheat sheet.' Pay attention, do your homework, and practice if you want an A. If you don't try you won't pass. She's late sometimes - so what? Its a bad choice taking CHM2045 in summer.
As a biochem student with a 4.0, I ignored the negative feedback given about Dr.O with hopes that the previous rates on here were from students who did not try. Unfortunately, they were 100% accurate. This class should not have been as hard as Dr.O made it. I had to watch videos online in order to clarify everything she said in class. DO NOT TAKE.
Dr. Owusu is a outstanding teacher with a motive to teach her students the conceptual aspect of chemistry. It is imperative that you pay attention and remain a head of the class in order to ace her class. She is fun but pretty tough when it comes to the Q&A part of the course. Lastly, if you're late you have to bring candy. House Rules.

In class lectures do not match up with quizzes and tests. Lectures are rushed and forced. All exams seem to be generated online by Wiley and do not match in class work. Some topics on tests were never discussed in class. The average mean on tests and quizzes were Ds. Nothing was changed to help improve the class average.
If you are not familiar with Chemistry this class is going to be very difficult. As someone who had close to no background in science classes it was very hard for me to pass. The lectures were very long and covered a lot of information. A whole week of information was covered in one-hour, everyday. We had 2 EXAM tests and a Final all in 2 weeks.
Dr. Owusu is a fantastic chemist but lacks teaching skills. She has poor time management skills and is unorganized. Because of this, your learning experience will suffer. Does not grade in a timely fashion and will reassure you that you are "doing fine" and "don't worry" when in actually your are not. Crammed 6 out of 8 test in the last 3 weeks.
Grades were not posted till after drop date and won't allow you to review or see your exam. Teaching material is unclear, and she doesn't take the time to explain. I had to rely on Youtube to get me through this course. The sad part is that I could enjoy chemistry, but she has put a damper on that. CHM1030 is a beginners course AVOID Dr. Owusu
I took this class as a summer A class. I had a tutor and still failed the class. What we learned in class and what was on the homework was not as hard as what was on the test. Would not recommend her class to anyone especially over the summer and especially if you never took chemistry in high school.
Took this in Summer A. It was a brutal express class. Disorganized. We ran out of time, so in 4 days we had to take a test that covered 3 chapters a day before the final as well as 4 HWs that were at least 30 ques. each! I had to take two days off of work! At 1 point, she said "no questions. we need to get through things." Def wouldnt recommend.
So if you want an A in chemistry, stop reading now and go find yourself a different teacher. Extremely unprepared, loves to do 3 hour lectures instead of the labs assigned, leaving everything for the end. Had to take 3 exams, INCLUDING the final on the last 3 days of class. Nicest lady, hasn't quite learned the teaching aspect of the job yet.
This is the most unorganized professor I have ever had!! She barely updates grades and doesn't follow the syllabus. we had to take 2 exams the same week as our final!! It has been over a week since we took the final and we still haven't gotten out final grades. She cares about chemistry but she assumes you know everything already.
Definitely one of the worst professors ever.. she treats everyone like if we were in second grade... quizzes the whole class every time someone's cell phone goes off. Says she taught something that she has never taught until she finally realizes she never taught us, so dumb... she has an annoying accent too. Everyone in the class hates her
I will not recommend this professor for any one. She does not know how to teach students in a certain level and is extremely unorganized.
DO NOT take this professor. You really have to study your butt off and put in more study time bc she can be very vague. She doesn't explain half of what she's teaching and expects you to understand everything right off the bat. The class was so behind and we had to cram a bunch of tests last minute. It was absolutely terrible and unnecessary.
Frustration, frustration!!! It's mid November and we still have three exams and a final??? How possible is that? Our exam two from October 19th is still not completely graded. Lots of anxiety. I will never recommend this professor to anyone at all. I'm failing miserable and I have never missed a class.
I am usually the quiet student who could care less about a professors teaching style, but oh my goodness this professor is awful! The only way I have a good grade is because I literally youtubed everything and taught myself by looking everything up online. The last week of class she opened up 3 homeworks (which are long) and we are always behind!
I have never felt the need to complain about a teacher on RMP until I took this class. First test was 6 weeks into the course but after that she realized how behind she was and started testing almost every week. Although it's an introductory class she expects you to know so much and doesn't explain well or answer questions, instead ridicules you.
DO NOT TAKE CHEM WITH THIS PROFESSOR!!! Literally the worst teacher i have ever had. she does not answer questions in class and refuses to help you, i asked a question in a lab one time and she called me slow. She is disrespectful,unhelpful,and confusing. She has scolded me for not teaching my lab partner how to do molecular shapes! Thats her job!
This was a very difficult class and with the right teacher could be so much better. She goes over power points for the lecture and runs out of time during. Very frequently says, no questions, not enough time. Have to teach yourself everything. Long tests that she does not prepare you for. Worst class/instructor I have ever had at SF.
Dr. O does not go into detail during her lectures. Then when you decide to go to her office hours for help, she is still extremely vague and doesn't help. You basically have to teach yourself in this course. She has an attitude and can be very rude when you ask for help. She expects you to be able to understand and catch on the first time.
Dr. O did not plan the semester properly. We are not at all prepared for the department final. Her attempt to correct this is to give us a bunch of homework along with a take home lab and TWO TESTS THE WEEK BEFORE FINALS. This is unacceptable. Also, she has the arrogance to get upset with the class when we don't understand the material.
Two exams before the final - which we are definitely not prepared for either 3 of those exams. I am an honors student that has taught herself everything in this class. Not worried about losing my transfer acceptance. She is confusing, and so is her grading. Very hard to understand, not willing to work with you, and unprepared. STAY AWAY FROM HER
Chem as it is, is already a difficult course you will have to work for. As long as you attend class, pay attention in lecture and take notes you should be fine. I used the course guide to study for each exam. The tests are not curved but she somehow manages to incorporate a grade from a different assignment into your test grade to bring it up some.
Taking chem with Dr.O was great.
Dr.O is a great teacher. This class is already a hard subject and pretty boring but she makes coming to class a little less dreadful everyday with her upbeat personality and request for candy (so don't be late haha). I believe she grades very fair and gave us multiple chances for extra credit. You will for sure pass this class, just do the work.
I am expecting to get a B- in the class but I will be taking my final later today, Dr. O is a tough grader but is always willing to help you and answer nay questions you might have. She is a great professor and I would take her again.
She is a nice person and understand chem well. She will help on work and can be leanient with grades in certain conditions. Class was really fun and filled with candy
The course is very lecture and lab heavy, her exams can be difficult to maintain a decent grade since it is very math and formula heavy and she gives minimal partial credit. Make sure you double check deadlines and scheduling with her because her due dates are not always consistent or reliable.
Dr. O is about getting things done. She's engaging in lecture and will make you think for yourself (tedious but good). The only con is that she doesn't post grades as fast as you'd like. She'll help you if you ask, but she won't baby you. She'll cover the conceptual stuff and some examples on the ppt, you just gotta practice on your own.
Gen Chem isn't an easy class but Dr. O prepared me for the final with the difficulty of her 4 exams. I feel like I have a better understanding for chemistry than I may have gotten with other professors. I recommend Dr. O for anyone who is pre-med or chemistry is related to their major.
Had her for a summer semester, she was brutal but fair and she explained things very well. I recommend taking her in a fall semester, during the summer the tests come very fast and it'll eat up a lot of time studying.
She is a good professor that is very reasonable when it comes to grading test. If you show all of your work, even if you get the wrong answer, she will give you partial credit for attempting the problem. If you follow her lecture powerpoint and notes to study for test, you will do great on the tests.
All of her tests are really math heavy and some problems are worth way more then other for no reason. She just runs PowerPoint and expects you to understand it after the slide is finished. She gives little extra credit which is nice but grades her test super hard. She doesn't help in office hours and doesn't grade your stuff for weeks
Dr. O has a clear passion for chemistry, and you really have to work hard in her class to do well. If I had any complaint, it would be that, at times, the class was a bit disorganized, which led to some issues like uncertainty in due dates or labs/assignments to be done when. Overall, it was a fair course, and I would take her again.
Dr. O definitely knows her thing! She is also pretty cuktural sensitive and is always available to help out of class time. Her tests can a bit harder, but it is everything she covered in class and she uploads all of her PPT on Canvas so that you can easily catch up even if you have to miss a class or two. She provides extra credits opportunities.
She's a great chem teacher and makes the class fun! She is interesting to listen to and I would definitely recommend her! Took her over the summer and enjoyed her class very much!
Chemistry with Dr. O is harder than it should be. Chemistry is already a difficult subject, but you'll want a teacher that is more organized, punctual, and effective at communication than her. If chemisty isn't your strong suit you will you probably need to hire a tutor to pass this class.
This is the hardest class I have ever taken. Dr. O knows her stuff but she doesn't break it down enough, and I have almost all As. This is the first time I've ever had to use a tutor, with out tutor, I would have never passed the class. Don't miss labs, it will dramatically affect your grade. Nice lady but crummy professor...
Does not explain what is in the lectures very well, lectures very fast, and does not give clear dates about assignments and tests.
Took this class over summer and it wasn't tough. You HAVE to study and take notes in class. Anything she writes on the board, you write down. Whenever I had a question Dr. O always made sure I understood before moving on. I enjoyed taking her class and if it wasn't for the final I would have had an A. Final is hard!
Great professor!!! Takes the time to talk to you and let you know where your weakness is. Gives extra credit.
She does not give clear guidelines or dates for assignments. You don't really know when the exam is until the week or so before. She also doesn't like it when you ask questions. If you do, you'll find out that apparently there are stupid questions in that class. 10/10 would recommend taking this class with a different professor.
Dr. O knows her chemistry. She is great about going through all the information in the textbook in order to make sure that you are prepared for her tests. Take lots of notes and pay attention in this class. If you don't understand the material ask her about it because everything is important. She genuinely cares about you and wants you to do well.
Most unorganized prof. I've ever had. Takes forever to grade assignments, once she does she does not put them into canvas. If she does, the canvas grade is not correct. Speeds through lectures super fast. Have a question? She'll tell you to ask your peers and move on. She does not let you out on time, ever. Keeps you an extra 10 mins every class.
Dr. O is a nice person, but her class is very difficult. Make sure to print the slides she uses in class to take extra notes. The exams are difficult and 50% of your grade, and you will not be able to keep up if you miss class a lot.
Dr. O is perhaps one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She is so unorganized and expects you to understand and to comprehend everything at a fast pace. If you struggle at Chemistry, DO NOT TAKE HER! Your test count as the largest portion of your grade, even the counselors advise you to not take her unless it is completely necessary.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER!!! I strongly recommend to not take this class. Shes so unorganized, tests are extremely difficult and shes a tough grader. She rushes through the lectures and doesnt let you out of class on time. Ive had to leave class to make it to my next class every time. Please take my advice and dont take chem with this professor.

Dr. O is so nice, but she is not a good professor. She rushes through the slides and if you ask questions, she tells you it's in the notes or she already told you. She's nice as a person, but when the class is averaging 50-60's for exams, there's a problem.
Although she has a great personality, the class was not paced well. We skimmed through the slides in class and were always let out late. I also felt like the examples from the Power Points did not prepare me well enough for the test questions, which were very tough. She does, however, offer plenty of extra credit which can help your grade a lot.
Dr.O was a great teacher and a very nice person. Though she was very sweet, organization is not her top priority so be prepared to keep up on your own.
HARD CLASS It is very difficult to understand her and read her handwriting but she is also totally irresponsible and does not care. So today is a Monday and actually the last day of class was Thursday but she didn't finish teaching us so she "made" a class & was 15 min late. and we have our last exam today and our final tomorrow.
Dr.O is now one of my favorite teachers. Why? She teaches discipline. At first I thought this class is hard, but its only hard if you don't focus or ask questions. I'm good at neither, but when I am home studying and putting effort into my work it shows. she gives you the tools and it up to you to use them wisely. Best advice, be ATTENTIVE.
You MUST study for the many tests if you want to pass. You dont want to miss any classes and make sure to get your labs done on time
Dr.O's class, in my opinion, was very comprehensive . She covered all the topics with a good amount of detail even though our summer class got cut short a week. The homeworks are all online and they are pretty tedious. The tests are somewhat difficult. You have to invest time into studying showing up to class is not going to cut it.
She is a really great professor. Her lectures are very thorough and she is willing to explain any part you don't understand( no matter how simple). She cares about her students and she is very enthusiastic about chemistry.
The chem department at this school likes to present very basic slides/ explanations, and then test you rigorously on what you would have to study beyond the scope of whats given in order to pass. This professor is a pawn of this system and acts accordingly. Get ready to deal with attitude and desire to read slides quick just to get them over with.
I took Dr. O for Chemistry 2 during Summer D semester and she did not prioritize our class or any of its students. Homework was posted at the last minute, she openly said that she ignored student's emails, and test averages were below 70% for all four exams. The tests did not focus on the same material as what was covered in class. No curves given.
Take anyone but her if you can. Ive never had a professor who flat out said she didnt care that so many students were failing. Her tests averages were consistently Ds and Fs because she did not prepare us at all. Hated when we asked questions in class because she thought it wasted time. Something like a fourth of the class failed.
Professor Owusu is sweet, but a mediocre professor at best. Her lectures were rushed and consisted of reading off a powerpoint. Few examples were given. She was often late to class, posted the homework days before the tests, and did not grade and post most of the assignments until the final. Out of around 60 initial students, only 1 received an A.
She is an awesome person and an amazing professor. She really takes the time to get to know you and help you, she wants all her students to pass. She also calls all her students her children lol. Shes a good one.
I really like Dr. O. She is very caring (and sassy). She wants all of her students to pass and cares about them. She can be a bit disorganized at times. The exams are difficult and the homework takes a bit of time to complete. this class isn't easy by any means, but if you put work into it and take advantage of her office hours you can pass.
Great professor! I only got a B in a her class because I always just studied the night before. The class itself is hard if you are not a chemistry fan, but she has good office hours and she even held Friday study sessions. There 6 or 7 test, but you'll be fine. If you don't pass the class, you didn't try hard enough. She even calls us her children.
She's a very nice person and accessible outside class. However, she's more of an okay professor. I felt especially lost during first weeks of classes because she didn't explain what needs to be done and when. Her lectures often feel rushed especially during final days of class before finals. She also takes too much time before grades are posted.
I've never had a teacher at Santa Fe who was so terribly unorganized. Everyone fails her exams so she has to curve them up two letter grades. She's the actual worst at teaching. She was the only chem teacher left so I had to take her. I think I would have actually liked chemistry if had taken it with another teacher.
Dr. O is a nice person who cares about her students but is a horrible teacher. She is disorganized & very rushed. She doesn't teach the material she just reads off the PowerPoint & expects you to apply the material on tests when she hasn't taught you how to do this. She doesn't answer questions directly. Not helpful when you go to her office.
You will have to teach yourself. She wastes time by asking us how something works that she hasnt taught & then zooms through the slides & says that we dont have time to go back. Most ppl that did decently paid for tutors. All 6ish exams are multiple choice but have around 82 q's. Most people got c's -d's on the exams. Most people failed the final.
Very nice professor and cares about students. However, she can be disorganized, and I felt like her "reviews" are often not enough to prepare for exams. Lectures can be a bit messy and rushed. Exams are a little hard. But overall, not impossible to pass. She does curve tests which helps a lot.
Its a hard class so its hard to put it all against her. However, she can be a bit scatter-brained which makes the material harder. She lets you have a notecard for your exams but not on the final. Homework covers the whole unit and is online. Need code for textbook but not the book itself. Rushed the end of the course due to time.
This professor is just hard to deal with. Her grading is strange and she does not explain anything very well. Every lecture is graded with individual work and/or group work. She relies on an online program to teach her students, rather then slowing down in class to explain better. A lot of things are questionable in this class, but she seems nice.
She has a thick accent that makes her hard to understand. she talks to the class like we're babies and God forbid you have a question she will give you the most sarcastic smile and start to talk to you so fast that you're forced to just nod your head like you get it but you don't. Lab was a nightmare and she graded so hard!
Dr. O makes it clear how much work you need to put in from day 1. This is a hard subject with a lot of material, she can't magically make it easy. Will stop class to help her students understand the material. She has an accent but is easy to understand. The tests are really hard, so you MUST study. Print out lecture slides beforehand, 6 to a page.
As a person Dr. O is wonderful. The material learned in class is what makes the class hard. She gives you every opportunity to succeed. Easily accessible. Responds to emails in a timely manner. Allows cheat sheet on the multiple exams but not on final. Gives notes ahead of time. She really is a good professor but the material is hard to learn.

You have homework due online through ALEKS every couple of days. Test were okay, you need to STUDY. You can get one index card for the tests, but not final. You have a lab midterm, but no midterm paper test. Labs were okay; got out early a lot. I found the class not as hard as others because it was basically review from my high school.

Dr.O genuinely cares. Very understanding; she moved back tests and quizzes for students who missed them. I had her for online Chem 2 and I was worried but her online lectures were thorough. ALEKS was due every Sunday night and Labs were due every week, but they were manageable. The online class was great and she is a really sweet and taught well.
Gives lot of chance to support you and gives very good classes also. She really cares about your grade and how you do on class.
I had no idea how bad this class would be when I signed up for it. My classmates and I actually have a group chat where we talk about how confusing and hard this class is. We barely understand any of the material, we are not being taught, and we just don't get why it's like this. Dr. O seems super sweet but I don't recommend taking this class.
Super accessible after class and will work with your schedule even if it's at night! Her lectures arent difficult but they're sometimes a little boring, if you have any doubt she will help you and work with you until you get it. The tests are kind of difficult and I would recommend studying the math parts specifically.
The one thing that is universally hated is ALEKS assignments. She is accessible, yet it can be intimidating. There is a lot of outside studying to be done, I passed because of The Organic Chemistry Tutor.
Shes a really nice teacher that wants you to pass. Gives many opportunities for you to get good grades. She gives extra credit and the homework is super easy. She moves tests if the class decided on it and allows a note card each test. I recommend taking her shes actually a good teacher if anything these comments take about how hard chem is not her
I always felt contradicted with Prof O. She is a sweet lady but will absolutely fail you by .2 of a point after claiming “I will not fail you”. You will 100% have a groupchat complaining of the unorganized dumpster fire while simultaneously failing every exam. She goes out of order from the book, meaning it will not save you. Don't do it.
