can not teach, useless notes, very poor lectures
sucks, wasted $300. don't bother.
His presentation in class is very clear. He tells student what should be known.
improving... clear notes and spend a lot of time for preparing the leactures.
A little boring. The exams are not too hard, and not that many tricky questions. Good marker.
Be patient, he is not bad.
Stay away if you want to learn. Makes more mistakes than the 'dumbest' student in the class.
gives confusing lectures, but his tests are easy and he marks very generously. but dont expect to get good marks if u dont ask questions in class and dont do your hw. for comparison, the course itself is a tad harder than calc12 or math12, but managable.
This guy cannot teach!!! No one in class knows what he is talking about because he rambles on and on and on......His use of the english language is poor!
Do Not Take his class, the most suck teacher ever. I can't understand what he says. He always make mistakes calulating on the board and make your notes messy. Quizs and exams are super hard, but he marks gently
he is a very hard teacher. In class i do not understand anything he says. the class average 1st midterm below 50% 2nd midterm 52%. when teaching he skips steps for example he writes the questions then part of the answer then the final answer. hard!!!!!!!!
his notes are not complete. the course is extremely hard.
He is very unclear, unhelpfull and king of aggresive when you ask something you don't understand. Makes too many mistakes in class. I do not recommend him.
horrid teacher..almost half of class failed bad notes /unclear lec/even confused himself..DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!
Do not take his class. It's the worst class i've ever had. U won't understand wht he is talking about. Easy Quiz but difficult Midterms.
the worst math teacher i ever had in my life...very unpatient, very unclear,....i will study on my own the rest of the term...this guy is just horrible, horrible...i wanna rate 0 0 0 if i can
Horrible terrible disasterouse if you take a class with him you are most certainly going to hate that class
No Comments
I read the previous ratings and noticed in particular the statement that you will hate his class. SO TRUE. This guy treats the students as if they are still in High school. Mature students aren't interested in being lectured to like children.
Besides his terrible accent and his boring lectures he is a mean guy. Anyone who likes him is has a brain problem. Boring Boring Boring and really unhelpful. If you want to fail go ahead pick him!!!
he can't teach! makes lots of mistakes on his notes. not that hard though, but sometimes he asks unnecessary questions in midterms
doesnt explain things clearly but exams are ok u just hafta study urself
Not a good teacher. While he explains things well, his mid terms aren't related with the homework/lectures which is how I feel a math test should be structured.
Teaches basic theory, and shows LOTS of examples. Very friendly, and helpful. It is a hard course, but he teaches it well. His accent takes a few classes to get used to.
Has unreal expectations about previous experiance. If you have knowledge already he is ok, otherwise DO NOT TAKE HIS COURSES
He has a PRETTY STRONG ACCENT, makes (simple) matters COMPLICATED, and he ALWAYS misunderstand student's questions. AN AWFUL INSTRUCTOR IN OVERALL!!
i think this guy and his wife Gera should get deported back to Russia or wherever they came from..lol..dont wanna be mean..but this guy ruined my whole math background with his retarded lectures!
he's BORING, he's CONFUSING, and HE TREATS STUDENTS LIKE TODDLERS.........DON'T take him!!!! get it?
He is the worst teacher I have ever had. With him, ya could not learn anything except you study by yourslef. He is lecture is really boring, and students hardly understand what he is saying in the class. I prey to never register for his lectures again!!
I have to say that his lectures are boring.U have to study a lot by urself, but his midterms are not that hard than I thought, and he is an easy marker. His quiz is really easy if u do all his homework.
Hes smart, but can't teach well.. Hes not the worst but i dont recommend him
easy quizes and okay midterms...shows lots of examples...not great but okay to take his course...
he is pretty boring..STRONG ACCENT!! that's unbearable!! who knows what he's talking about in class!!..he is just horrible..one of his favourite hobbies is to make v stupid mistakes during lectures..langara should send him back to india ..
he is boring, has a strong accent, makes tons of mistakes, gets irritated when u ask him questions, gives confusing lectures.........send him back to russia plz!
honestly speaking, this guy is boring. but he is very smart so if you look past the boring lectures and his strong accent, he can be a good teacher.
i have to agree, his class is boring. But he's a nice guy, the quizes are easy, and midterms are not hard at all if u actually spent time to study. I actually enjoyed his class, and i got an A+, hahaha!
One of my fav math profs in the dept. he is a good teacher and carefully goes over everything and shows lots of examples. he is quite an easy marker too and his quizes are easy as long as you study highly reccomended
i think he's a good instructor..easy on everything..
accent. difficulty comprehending his speech.
Hard course, quizes are great primers for midterms. Eugene is always willing to help a student that is willing to learn.
i liked this teacher very much.i didnt have trouble following his lectures because he was organized and clear.as for the others who didnt like him, they probably didnt do their homework and expected to get an A.well, that's not how it works with math.
When he teaches according to the course material, it's alright. But once you ask him a question, you will never get a satisfactory answer, because he's horrible at describing answers. So if you have questions, he can't help you.
I had him for both 1170 and 1152. He goes over everything in great detail, pay attention. His pace is perfect, slow and steady and you're not racing to finish in the last few days. He does have an accent, but it's not killer. He knows his stuff you can trust what he puts on board. Excellent prof.
This is one of the cases when you shouldn't believe everything that you read He is an excellent prof helpful and clear easy to follow and understand Very organized! If you attend lectures final is not a problem No pop-up quizes, marked assignments or surprises of any kind that may lower your GPA
He's an excellent teacher whose lectures are organized and well-structured. If you study consistently (ie. the problems he recommends) you should not have any problems on MT's or Final. Very generous marker and is always prepared to help.
He is a nice person, but his course is boring! His midterms are difficult and so many quizs!! Always made mistakes of his notes. He doesn't know how to teach this couse
Clear and concise, with a bit of an accent. Good, solid teacher.
Eugene is a great math teacher. His exams are not hard, and he grades them generously. He is helpful and friendly, and way better than the guy i had for math 1171.
Highly recommended! Always well-prepared, clear and very helpful!
HE is not a very good teacher, take it from me i got 92% in math 12 and did horrible in his class. HE goes through examples soo fast and he skips a lot of steps assuming that you know what he us doing.
very good teacher...helpfull if u have any questions...only problem is his accent...but u get used to it...but still hes a very good teacher
guys, don't use your high school maths mark to judge the difficulty...getting 95 is extremely simple for asian students...i mean those came to here after graduating from asian high schools...i have to say calculus 1271 is like grade 11 level in Hong Kong...
Best Math teacher I've ever had. His quizzes are easy, he marks them generously, and he basically tells you exactly what is going to be on the midterms and quizzes. Does not try and trick you at all, I tried less hard and did much better than in any other math course ever.
FANTASTIC
He's so~~~~~~~~~ nice, I can only say. He tries to give u every mark that it's possible. Maybe his accent is a lil bit unclear, but it's okay, it's not a big problem. Seriously, he's trying to help u to get a high mark. Take him !
An amazing teacher! Very clear in his explanations and no tricky questions on either the quizzes or the midterms. If you attend class, you'll just have to do the problems from the textbook..He takes all the theory and does tons of examples! Highly recommend him to anyone considering taking Calculus.
honestly i dunno what to say abt this guy... he's nice alright... but he makes WAY too many mistakes on the board... and his quizzes will kill u...
His notes are copied directly from text book - totally useless. His English is horrible -REALLY HORRIBLE Accent!
He is really helpful with my math study,I have never feel such interested in math course~I asked lot Qs,and he answered me very clear~his quiz are easy,as well as HW.He always make the textbook easier to help you get it,join his class and taking notes--that's the most important thing!
Dr. Belchev is a GREAT math teacher! He's very clear in class, provides great examples, and if you show up for class, you should be able to do most problems. His quizzes are VERY straightforward and his midterms are too!! Very generous marker and if he sees that you put in the effort, he'll do everything to help!
He is the best professor in the college. He is clear, organized, and helpful. By the way, he has a really easy marker...that's perfect!!!
He is the best teacher of langara college~clear lectures(you don't need to read textbook anymore),organized methods(with his notes-that's important!),and funny~he is also really helpful, you can ask him at anytime,he will give you the clearest answers even through the e-mail.Take his class,if you want to get A and higher~
he is the best teacher I've ever had at langara. highly recommended!!!
Eugene is a nice teacher. He really cares if his students or doing well or not. If you get office help from him, it may seem as if he's attacking you, but then whatever he says is the truth. It's really up to the student if he/she wants to do well. Nevertheless, he's a pretty decent teacher.
welcome back in the fall,Eugene~highly expect to take your course again~miss my great 1174 life~and highly recommend!!!!!!!!
the best pro. of langara!! highly recommend!!
great notes, very open and helpful.I absolutly recommend Dr. Belchev to whoever wants to do great on calc 2,but you gotta do youe homework and prepare for every single quiz.
I like him, I had him for 2 semesters...he might not be the best teacher in terms of "teaching skills"...but i think he has "heart"...i mean he actually CARES...even though most of the time it gets boring and sleepy during the 2nd half of the class...but I still LOVE being in his class~~~and midterms are okay, reasonable~~~
I really like Belchev. At first it was a bit weird and boring, but over time it's better. He teaches well enough, I generally understand most of his lectures. He really encourages you to participate in class or go ask him some questions. Also, he gives homeworks, which I love. Quizzes and mid terms are based on the homeworks. He's recommended!
Eugene is so great. He is so organized and his lessons are very well planned out. I've had him twice, and while his course isn't 'easy', it prepares you for future math and economics.
Eugene is very knowledgable and enthusiastic in the subject. He tells you what you need to know for final exam. His accent is acceptable. you'll get used to it. He makes things simple and easy to understand. A generous marker too. A great teacher!!
He's a very nice guy, he knows his math and he knows how to teach it. Do your hw, you'll do well on his tests and on the final. Go ahead and take him, this is as much fun as you'll ever have in calculus.
expect homework everyweek. you'll love to hate it, but its actually good. keeps you in check so that you get enough practice. also weekly quizzes that will keep you from slacking throughout the semester. i thought his notes totally blew but his quizzes and homework were nice. i'm taking him again for 1274. not a bad teacher to take. i liked Coroas.
He is a great instructor. U won't regret taking his course. His accent is fine. Weekly quiz are a breeze if u attend his lectures and worked on the assignments.
he is a good teacher. choose his course ,,,,,
By a large margin the easiest and nicest math teacher that you may ever hope to get.
he likes to make cold jokes:)
Hes a really good teacher. Very helpful when you go to his office hrs. His notes really suck so u should read the text after each lecture. But his tests r very fair. Similar questions from the textbook. Make sure you do all the hwk cuz quizzes will b similar to those. Overall! hes great!
I took his math1174 last year,he's the best teacher I 've ever had in our school!!!His class is really helpful and the grade that he will give is higher than ur imagination.Do all his homework,it seems a little bit much, but good for the weekly quiz!
excellent professor! one of the best math teachers I have met
avoid him..... more than half the class dropped his class.
Eugene is my life! Amazing professor. Very clear, and very entertaining to boot.
Took 1174 with him 2007spring, got a A+. He explains concepts well, and talks about shortcuts too when solving problems. Do the assigned homeworks, keep up with his lectures, a minimum A- should not be hard to get.
Very good teacher. Tests are exactly like quizzes. HELP IS ONLY GIVEN TO THOSE WHO ASK FOR IT so for the people that complain about that they didnt ask for help. Hes very clear only point he got off was cause of that accent lol. Do your homework and you'll get a good mark.
one word : Garbage
Great teacher... one of my favorite teacher at langara. He gives out pratice exam that are similar to the midterm. Not a hard teacher if you attend class and do the homework. Overall, great teacher. =)
You cant's even understand this guy. He puts the definition right from text book on the board and uses solution manual to solve examples. He solves the first part, takes lots of short cuts, leaves the middle part, and sometimes only writes the answer or puts a ? for the answer. He does know how to teach 1271 at all. He is so rude and low class.
excellent!!!!the best teacher in math department, clear notes, exams really base on his homework and examples, not a hard marker, math king
He is a great instructor, initially it was hard to understand his accent.Every exam was from notes and sample exams.Numerical Analysis was hard but this guy made it easy. Strong recommendation to take him.
Ignore Bad comments!!! Trust me his course will increase ur gpa
He gave me my first A+ in math! Questions on the exams are based on the exam outlines and sample exams(with solutions) he gave before. Do all your assignments and prepare well by using the sample exams, then you will get a good grade.
Great teacher!!!! People say he is hard to understand but his accent is not that bad. He was helpful and his h/w assignments and quizzes are exactly are what on the test!! Great teacher!!!!
Great teacher, I had Allan before and dropped his class because i was failing. This year with Eugene I have 88
this term i totally lost in his accent. his test is not very hard but too many quizzes. if you can't understand his lecture, read the textbook.
Take his class! Midterms are strictly based on the quizzes and the exam outlines he provides. If you study those, you'll do really well. But you have to attend his class, his notes are super clear and helpful. He only teaches what you need to know. He's a really good teacher for precalc.
Really nice guy! Good lecture, good notes, good exercise and good-looking.My favorite professor!
Really nice professor, very clear and helpful. He will teach you very useful skills. Highly recommend! I got A+, if I can make it, everyone can do it as well!
the material is pretty hard on its own, he does have an accent, but so does 90% of langara students. his practice midterms and final are really helpful though, i thought weekly quizzes are annoying but they kinda prevent you from procrastinating your homework, plus he drops lowest 2 scores
I love math and I always have. Eugene is very nice, although sometimes he makes unnecessarily rude comments regarding your questions or your answers (but that is rare). Weekly quizzes are easy if you did your assignments (one number-y question, one word problem), and midterms are exactly like the sample ones. Accent is not difficult to understand.
He seems like he would be better suited for higher calculus as he doesn't go into detail, nor shows steps on how to achieve the answer. If you ask though he is more than willing to show you how. Like most math teachers, he has an accent and grammar is understandably satisfactory. Great tests but asks the hardest questions!
One quiz per week. Easy if you do your assignment(one simple math question, one word problem), and midterms are the same as his sample midterms. Accent is easy to understand.
Such a great and helpful guy. He does notes in class with you and his examples are very helpful and often show up in quizes and exams. His practice exams are very similar to the test. Math 1174 topics are generally difficult so you must work hard to get a good grade but Eugene bumps your mark up if your final exam mark is higher than term mark.
Good Man
His lectures were decent at first but as the concepts became more advanced, he became more enigmatic. He rushes through the material, assuming that we can all do algebra as fast as he can write it on the board. Every single class ended early. My GPA going into this semester is 4.0 and I do NOT recommend him.
Definitely would take his class. Very clear, funny and a good marker. He will help you out with ur marks if u get a good final grade.
Nice teacher. He will give you a nice result if you did well on the final.
Nice teacher! He will give you a best result if you do well on the final.:)
I had him for Math 1171. Glad that he teaches many Math courses. He is a great prof. Cant wait to have him for Math 2362! Quizzes every week, prepares you for the exams.
I like his accent and his neat handwriting.
What a great professor, I can tell he is the best math professor in Langara. While test is not too hard, he can give you a good final grade if you do well on final exam.
If you're looking to actually understand the materials, look else where. He basically just has you swallow the textbook and barf it up on the exam whether you know what you're doing or not. If you just want an easy mark, you'll probably be happy. For those who want a better education, look to some of the other professors instead.
Real analysis was my third course with him. Very, very helpful during office hours, very, very kind. No practice midterms for this course unfortunately but there was a fun and educational presentation. Hard course, I don't know how some students did it. Accent is easy to understand, teaching is confusing sometimes though. 100x better than J Jang.
Lectures are unclear and confusing. His first time teaching linear algebra. He makes mistakes during class which throws students off. Students dont feel confident. Class avg is low, only those who took the course once had high marks. Textbook is useless too, hard to follow. I dont understand why the textbook is required when he said its useless too
neat notes and helpful examples on class. fair marker. he's nice too but his exam is not that easy.
very friendly and reasonable prof, work hard and try to do well in the final, he will give you the best grade he can.
Great instructor. The notes are super clear. Although there will be regular quizes, they are helpful for your midterm and final exams. The most important thing is, he will give you a good grades if you have a good final scores. Plus, he is very nice!
I took 2 classes with him Calculus II and Linear algebra. Both times my experience was different. To do well in his class you must review everyday, weekly quizzes are really helpful to test your understanding and preparations for exams. He is really nice, makes time to see you outside office hours as well if needed. One of the best math prof.
This is my third course with him. He is always helpful, fair and responsible. Make sure you attend all the classes and take all the notes (which are super helpful for midterms and final). Even though there will be regular quiz in class, it is not a bad thing, it helps you review and understand what you have learned in the past weeks.
Very Knowledgeable and cares about his students.
His notes are cohesive and cover the material. Eugene will explain the motiviation for each topic and approach. Be ready to do some work! His seasoned sense of humor makes an otherwise dry class, a very pleasant exprience. Best thing since sliced bread.
he has some dry humor, pretty fun lecs. His midterms are actually really easy if you study the questions he goes thru during his lectures, he really wants students to do well , he does not care much for computation errors which really proves that he gets the important part of math, the final is brrruuuuutal tho so make sure you do well in class
The exams were hard but nothing really tricky, i definitely feel his ability to teach is lacking; as majority of class is usually confused, but then again its calc2 so its expected. I can guarantee you will study and teach yourself ALOT in this course. The best attributes about Eugene is he scales the final and is a really easy marker.
Here's the gist of it: don't expect to learn Calc purely by lectures, you need effort outside of class by doing problems. He's an easy grader though, and very willing to help.
His lectures are fast-paced and lack in details, BUT you will get used to it in the end. There is a quiz every week, BUT most of them are basic problems. His exams are quite difficult, BUT you will do fine if you solve every textbook practice questions he gives you and sample exams posted on D2L. Good luck. He's a great professor if you try hard.
We get a F average for midterm. To be honest,it is even worse,so u guys can see how was this teacher, especially complaining for his handwriting in class. Self study a lot and test difficult
exams and quizzes are way different from the notes and homework. Very tough exams, no chance to recover, weekly quizzes brought down our confidence week after week. Final exam saved me from failiing
HE is not the prof you want to choose if you are new to calculus. Midterms are EXTREMELY difficult. His course is more like reviews for those who already know the concept rather than lessons for the new learners. You can definitely learn a lot from him but just try someone else if you wish to get a good grade
Not a good prof to choose, hardly a prof at all since he doesn't exactly teach. He teaches like it's all review for you and gives only examples while skipping crucial steps. Tests are extremely hard as well as the weekly quizzes that are equally hard. He is an extremely tough marker as well giving little to no part marks on exams.
A kind teacher with sufficient knowledge. The only problem is that his hand-writing is hard to recognize.
lol this guy is so funny, heavy thick accent, his exams are hard, i didnt learn anythin , i took pre cal with him. do not take him but he is funny he gets mad sometimes and yells
Worst professor NA! Tiny little blackboard-writing, no slides, heavy thick accent, making mistakes almost every lecture, weekly quiz. The only thing I can tell you is that I got A+ in both calculus and , but now I am worrying if I will fail his Math 2362. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!
The only problem is that he use his logic, which is different than the textbook, to explain the material. so we do not have additional questions to practice except using his examples.
He was one of the best profs I had at Langara He provided very good examples in the notes that motivated me to study more and work more around the concept He is very knowledgeable and very good at understanding your questions and providing you a good explanation He is very careful in answering questions which made me want to learn more from him
BEWARE 40% average and half the class drops. It would be better if he taught concepts and equations in a simpler, clear way rather than confusing us with loads of small tiny writings. He is not the worst prof for calc 1 but there are better profs
Class average is around 50%. Must read the textbook. Must ask him questions. Must do homework. His notes are very helpful. I will definitely take him for Math 2371.
Excellent. Must do HW
His lectures are good for those with previous knowledge not for those who are new to calc. His quizes are hard and midterms really hard. If you dont know anything about cal dont take it with him.
The class average final is at 45%. Tests are extremely difficult. Not recommended.
Exams are very difficult. I should have taken this course in other college not in Langara.
Not a bad prof at all. Uses good, nuanced examples when teaching certain units, and provides sample exams which make studying for the midterms much easier. Weekly quizzes and final were really tight on time, and lecture may be hard to understand right away if you don't prepare. I'm definitely not a math guy and I did alright though.
Linear Algebra itself is a hard class but he made it a little harder. Take him only if you have no choice or you have to choose between him and Robert Miller. At the end he will try to help you in passing the class even if you struggled for the whole semester
He is a great proffesor. really helpful and caring. bumps, the grade, gives his best in class definitely would take again
He's pretty great and really nice. Would definitely take him again. For calc 3, he focuses on only the calc 3 materials which is great because we don't have to deal with heavy integrals/derivatives (calc2). All homework is on Webassign. Quiz every 2 weeks. Midterms were ok and the final was surprisingly hard. Zoom lectures but also recorded.
If you wanna fail your calculus then take it with this prof. Hes though grader. I got A on my calculus I and the next semester i got C because of him. Hes not a fair marker and hes midterms and final are much harder than what you expect. DONT RECOMMEND HIM AT ALL!
Eugene is fine. He knows the material, can explain tough things, but you need to work hard. His tests are heavy. Quizzes same. Doing only homework doesn't help much. Notes aren't enough. You need to practice a lot on your own if you want to get a good mark. Half of the class dropped after 1st midterm. Posts recorded lectures and annotated notes.
I often get lost in Eugenes lectures halfway through class, but he otherwise gives very straightforward notes. Much of my success in the class came from reading the textbook and doing all the practice problems he assigns, but he is also very patient to help students during his office hours. He is a very polite and chill prof overall.
Do all the assignment homework and extra practice and youll be fine. If you review all prior webassigns prior to his exams, youll be well prepared. He is an easy grader and doesnt rush you at all during exams (bc he starts the time late and gives extra time) I couldnt follow his lectures so the homework problems really helped.
I had Eugene for both 1271 and 2371 and he truly is a great prof. He doesnt express it often, but he cares for his students and wants them to do well. His lectures are okay, but he is always very patient to go back on a topic if you dont understand it. If he sees that you are working hard throughout the sem, you will be rightfully rewarded.
Eugene is an experienced teacher. His course schedule is very reasonable and the materials are very useful. The content of his class covers all the knowledge points, and the difficulty of the exam is moderate. If you study hard enough, you will get a good grade.
Another awful lazy Langara professor. Half the class was failing within the first few assessments. Class average barely above 50%, and doesn't seem to take any responsibility for it. Just blames students. Refused to curve grades. Do not take.
hes nice, but not a very good prof (especially if you havent taken calc before). his lectures can get confusing, the only reason im not completely lost in his class is because i have old notes from a previous calc class to refer to. midterms and quizzes are similar, but both are quite hard. class average was around 50% for quizzes and exams
never take the course with him. he will fail you even if you work harder and in the end, you cannot even request for appeal because he is the department chair and the college never does against his department chairs. He does not have any scale for marking and marking it based on personal ideas. if you wanna drop your GPA go with this guy.
absolutely do not recommend this prof. he treats all his lectures like review even though it's the first time all of us are hearing about the topic. his accent is also kinda hard to understand so you really have to focus. class average for every single quiz and exam has not been over 55%. refuses to curve grades while half the class is failing.
He is a good man, but his teaching style is more about reviewing topics instead of teaching it. Class average is about 50% for every quiz and exam.
Provides insight for students to be successful if they attend the lectures. Provided more strategic methods to solving certain problems than the textbook provided, and the problem sets made this class easy to build intuition. Clearly understandable/provided neat notes, to the point where note taking is not necessary. No forced formula memorization.
He treats lectures as reviews, which may be intimidating but in general its best practice to pre-read chapters prior to lectures, especially for a topic like Linear Algebra. His office hours are very educational, he ensures you understand each step to towards the answer for a question, and I only regret not attending more.
Eugene does a good job explaining concepts and questions. His notes were useful for quizzes. The class average when I took the course for quizzes was about 50% but if you learn how to do all of the questions in the notes, you will get perfect. I didn't study too hard for his quizzes either. Just did notes questions and WebAssign
Avoid this professor unless you are really good in calculus and could work on your own. I have to still take calculus again with some other professor. Never go for him.
He gives good lectures, but tends to skip multiple steps. It might be easy for him but most students are confused by his steps. He is very approachable and will explain all steps that he skipped if you ask him. He is understanding and will let you take quizzes after dates in cases of emergency.
Lectures are more review sessions so make sure to pre-read the material so you can keep up. He always posts the quiz dates ahead of time so no worries if you miss a lecture. He's very helpful in class and in office hours, and genuinely wants students to succeed and gives them the tools to do so.
His lectures are very well-paced, and his approach to the problems is really straightforward. Overall he's an amazing tutor who focuses on the quality of his lecture and is a fair grader.
Big no no thick accent
Eugene is a decent calc prof, he won't blow your mind with revolutionary teaching methods or bend over backwards for you but his attitude is fine, accent not too extreme, and although the lectures can be a bit dry he does try to tell you what he expects from you and keeps his own quizzes and midterms fair to what he's taught, the final is harder.
Tests and quizzes were much more relevant to lecture notes than assigned homework (homework alone will not prepare you without reviewing the lecture concepts). Grading was relatively generous, setting up the right equations can get at least a couple marks even without getting to the correct answers. Class averages were around 50% or less for tests.
Eugene was a fantastic Professor for Calc2 during fall semester of 2023. He was good at explaining concepts, quizzes were similar to the midterm exams, he was very good for 1-on-1 help, and overall a lenient marker. Would recommend if, like in any math course, you're willing to put in the work.
Not bad.
Eugene was a good professor, he joked around with us and was very helpful when I asked for feedback. The lectures have lots of content so I recommend staying on top of the material. There weren't many quizzes during the class so each one was worth 5%. Webassign is optional and midterms are pretty good if you understand the concepts.
Eugene is a decent professor who makes an effort to explain concepts clearly. The class can be challenging, but staying on top of the material and using helpful resources like Unstuckstudy alongside the lectures and textbook can go a long way. Overall, a manageable course if you're willing to put in the work.
He offers little to no material for practice, only assigns problems from textbooks and puts out 1 practice midterm for each test. Quizzes are usually worth 15% but he only has 3 throughout the semester. I wish he would give out more of his own practice material since textbook problems are usually easier than exam problems
AVOID THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL COST!!!!!!!!!! His accent is as hard to understand as his handwriting. He gives lots of homework and his midterms and finals are very hard!!!!
His lectures are optional, but he skips steps in his notes which make them hard to learn off of so attending his lectures are crucial. His exam questions are usually different to the practice he provides, but he has clear outlines detailing the topic and questions you will see in his exams. Take him if you have a strong foundation in precalculus.
this professor lectures are unclear. He overcomplicates simple concepts to the point you won't unlearn the things you learn.
His lecture are overcomplicated and he makes it so that you unlearn concepts you already understands avoid this professor at ALL COST
Only take if u have experience. Lectures are fast and skip steps and its more of a review. There were only a few quizzes and exams so each one of em can hurt yr final grade. Tests are hard, if u put in work you can still pass cuz he is somewhat lenient with grades if he can see yr effort on yr paper. Rough class, not a good experience at all.
not a lot of quiz but all of them were tough
Absolutely shocking. Do not take him if you dont have a very strong background in precalculus. He explains literally nothing in his lectures as he expects you to already know the concepts. He skips steps on every single question in the lecture so even if you want to try learning from his notes you will have trouble.
This class does not have weekly quizzes (unlike most 1171 sections), so there are very few things you are graded on. There is a WebAssign component (worth 5%), but the content is still very condensed and difficult. Eugene has a very thick slavic accent, if you are not a native english speaker you may struggle to understand. Overall he is reasonable
