He's a great teacher and his stories are interesting, if you ever noticed theres always questions on the exam that relate back to the stories. It's just his way of making students retain information better.

he likes to go off on mad tangents but he has a fairly easy class. One quiz, midterm, and then final all multiple choice.

Awesome class. He goes off on tangents, but always come full circle. He makes law come alive with real world examples.

Beswt teacher ever. He is by far the greatest professor I have had in Hofstra. Although the work may seeem a little hard he gives open book tests and makes it interesting. I would definetely recommend him to anyone.

Definitely one of the best professors I've had at Hofstra. He teaches in a way that you don't realize you're actually learning. Class wasn't extremely difficult and he's very entertaining and helpful.

Not much can be added that hasn't already been stated. Prof. M is a great Prof, class is paced well and he is always around when you need him. He isn't out to get anybody and is always full of constructive advice. Without a doubt, one of the best.

as stated, best professor at Hofstra.knows his stuff and relates it to life. very practical, down to earth all around cool guy.his tests are fine if you go to class and study.i transferred from another school and never met a better professor who is willing to help.take this class if you can with him

Funny and relates topics to real life. Good lecturer. Had him at 8AM, never missed a class. Helpful councelor too. Him and Bass (CPA Review) helped me pass BLAW 1n 1 shot. Good man.

Professor Maccarone is a wonderful teacher. I highly reccomend his class to anyone.

He is a great professor. His tests are mainly on class notes. His lectures are fluent, clear and he tells alot of interesting stories cuz he is a lawyer. He keeps the class interesting after the introduction lessons. Smart dude.

He is an amazing teacher, he knows alot and teaches very well. Always answers questions clear and presents the material well. For his tests, I knew the material front and back, and I did poorly. Tests are very very tricky and only worth 20pts, and is worth 20% of your final grade. Need 2 study w/him

i love maccarrone..he is a great teacher 3 quizzes and a final all easy if you pay attention in class..final had questions from all quizzes he is great..def recommend

Good guy, tests are a bit tricky, but not hard to get a good grade, as long as you take notes and read every once ans awile

He is a very cool guy but he goes off tangents alot about his boring stories. You must read b/c the class notes are not sufficient and his tests are tricky.

to the last reviewer please realize Blaw and audit are very diffrent classes, the notes were not sutfficent you had to read the book in order to do well, his stories are interesting, and some what relevant, overall he is a nice guy, however the final was a killer didnt prepare us for the second half, but a great professor, i recommend over Basile!!

hii i was in accoutning with him this summer, and not only were his stories really relevent (i know an alumnus who had him who said theyre also very good prep for real acct. practice), but i thought we were very prepared for the final...hes also an awesome blaw prof so no disrepct to the last reveiwer, but i totally disagree with you

omg i LOVE THIS PROFESSOR! macarrone is such an awesome teacher-i've had him for business law AND accouting so far, and I never get tired of ths guy-had him this summer for acct. no one prepares you better or is a generally overall great prof. Very understanding and clear. TAKE!!!

Best teacher i ever had

My favorite Teacher at Hofstra University...If you are interested in LAW def take him he has a lot to offer as a professor!

He was very funny and told alot of stories that were interesting.

Great professor... Whoever wrote the comment about him being a "name dropper" clearly didnt pay that much attention... the stories he tells are relevant, useful to your understanding of the material, and practical outside the classroom.

This is my second time taking him, great professor, you learn a lot taking his class. His test can be tricky. No textbook, notes become essential in getting a good grade on the test, best part, he allows you to argue for points back from the exam.

Great teacher! Take any legal class with him if possible! Awesome with notes, and tests are straight forward. Studying is required along with some reading of the text. Tells you specifically what pages to read from the text. AWESOME!

Great professor. Down to earth, funny and experienced. No reason not to take the class with him if you get the chance.

There is nothing bad about Gene. He is an amazing professor and man. He is experienced in all fascets of law, and he tells stories of real life applications of his subject. Going to class was a real pleasure, he is an outstanding speaker. He gives a quiz, test, and final. Not too hard at all. A+++++ Prof!

I had his 8AM class, and it was totally worth it to wake up that early. He knows so much about everything and always has interesting stories. He is funny, and he involves the class in so many ways (He even puts people's names in on test questions in example cases). I didn't have perfect attendance and i read the book a little, and I still got an A

WOW!! This is one of the best professors at Hofstra....i have never met a lawyer who was able to rebute a case against himself until i met him..he is absolutely wonderful and i reccommend him to everyone..

Nice down to Earth Professor. Good instructor. Tests can be difficult if you don't adequately prepare but overall not terrible. Doesn't Curve final grade at all. Mathematically what you acheive is what you get.

This professor was THE MOST INTERESTING professor I have taken yet. He kept the class alive with interesting stories and insights in law...he warned that the class would be hard...but I found that if you took good notes and read what he told you to read in the book he tests were cake. No homework. One Quiz, one midterm and one final. TAKE HIM!!

Honestly, I had to give him a chance. At first he came off as pompous and snobby, but by the middle of the semester I came to really like him and his teaching style. Definitely worth taking again. What you put in is what you get back as a grade. Always willing to help.

He's a really great professor--VERY thorough and gives great notes, he really makes sure you get it and he constantly reiterates everything. The grade comes from one quiz, one midterm and one final, so you have to really study. I did well, but I would have like for there to have been more opportunites to boost my grade. Definitely recommend him

This professor is one of the most qualified and intelligent professors at hofstra - he is a CPA and lawyer. He has a great sense of humor. His tests are difficult- you have to study for them. There is no homework. And, if you participate in class, he'll raise your overall grade.

To put it simply, if you take this course but not with this professor you are missing out. He makes the subject interesting and clear. He has a strict attendance policy but it isn't too hard to get yourself out of bed to go to this class. If you take good notes it is easy to get an A but you have to study. Definitely take this class!

This is a great class. I learned a lot from Prof. Maccarone. He is a very funny especially with his stories. There is 1 quiz,1 Midterm (1/2 is take home)and 1 final. Homework is reading assignments. All in all he is a really great teacher.

Maccarrone knows his stuff and class is very interesting. If you have half a brain and a desire to learn, you will do fine.

I really liked him and his class. He's a real world guy-both an accountant and lawyer, knows his stuff. He's about 60. You take minimal notes on what he says and will do good. All exams are mult choice, offers a lot of extra credit for exams, use the TB here and there. No hw, 2 exams and 1 non accumulative final. I would take him again, take him!

He is truly an amazing professor take him! I feel the whole legal studies dept is amazing. 1 quiz, midterm(half take home) and a final. TAKE HIM! Even though most of his classes are early in the morning is worth to get that A!!

Prof. Maccarone is a great teacher and very interesting. His class isn't too hard, since most of it is common sense (in my opinion). But he's amazing and I wish I could take another class with him.

Good professor. Have to put some work in to get a good grade. Didn't go to any classes and studied for the tests and passed. Just go to class and listen to his lectures. He explains everything and always looks to help the students improve their grade. Is very fair and gives extra credit.

Im taking this class over the summer. He teaches with so much passion and clarity. Accounting is hard, but he teaches it in a simple way and breaks it down for you. Awesome teacher!

He is the nicest professor you will ever encounter at this school. He is not only very good at teaching, but he makes everything so interesting! I personally don't think his exams are hard because his class notes are really helpful. If you go to class and pay attention, this class should be an easy A for you!

Took this class over winter session; excellent professor, excellent class. Prof. does lecture, but the notes/lectures are useful and interesting; work load is average, study your notes and pay attention to the lectures and the tests are fair. I did fine on them. Highly recommend!!

One of my favorite Accounting professors for a class that is usually VERY dry and at times difficult to understand. He really cares about his students and tells stories of when he worked as an auditor for Ernst & Ernst after college. I took this class over the summer and I highly recommend others do too due to the fact that it's very boring.

This professor is one I highly respect. The entire department is fantastic and Maccarone is no exception. You will work hard in this class if you want an A. If you don't put in the time and effort, you will get a lower grade. So if you have a good GPA and want to maintain it, become a college student and work for it. He is there very early, so go.

Very good professor. Would take one of his classes again in a heartbeat. Always willing to clarify and work with students to better their understanding. If you are willing to listen and take some notes on the lectures, this class should not be an issue.

He is an excellent professor. I have taken his class for Legal 20 and I would definitely take him for the third time!

The course could have been a lot harder, but he was really fair.

The lectures are easy to follow but u have to take notes. He doesn't post anything on blackboard and writes less on the whiteboard. Definitely pay attention and attend every class. Each class is an extra credit point towards final grade. Missing one class will get u lost. Really funny guy and his lectures are engaging. No hw, just exams.

He's been in the "Biz" for a long time & has a breadth of knowledge. He is a kind Professor who is understanding and lenient. Graded by few things, but his tests are very fair and basically just the material learned. Take good notes, he puts questions verbatim from his lectures on the test. His lectures are your lifeline! Listen carefully & learn!

With a different teacher, Id imagine this class being really hard but Professor Maccarone makes LEGL024 extremely manageable. My advice. go to every class and take crystal clear notes. 3 tests where 99% of the questions are from the lecture material. Follow the lectures, memorize that material, and you will barely need to touch the textbook

If you have the opportunity to take this professor then DO IT. He gives an insane amount of extra credit, attendance is not mandatory, and he is able to translate his mastery of the subject very well to his students. Cares a lot about how people are doing in his class, and is a funny and charismatic individual.

Very chill and laid back. Always enjoyed attending his class on zoom. Barely had homework assignments and had 3 exams the whole semester. Tons of extra credit and a very kind soul.
