Not the most enthusiastic instructor but he tells you all you have to know.

Straight forward and well spoken. No games or tricks here. He also tries to teach a little bit about the college experience in general and gives good advice on how to get through it.

This guy seems like he really cares about his students and wants to make sure that they get all that they can out of the class... and he is hilarious.

I took this class online since I rarely ever have time. I didn't know what to expect since some classes are unclear, but his class is the easiest thing ever. His quizes are open notes and you can take them over and over till you are satisfied with your score(I found this out late in the course) His final and midterm were easy. Also he has a set schedule also so you can do everything early. I'd suggest taking his class. He is really interested in you succeding.

He was a good professor. Keeps you the entire class period but sometimes the class before a test he will let you out. I had him for Soc 102 and 101. Heis very repetative and somewhat monotone. He is very nice and helpful. He works with you if you are having problems and has 3 tests...and one or two papers. Study for tests! Straight from material

I took him online and I LOVED this class. I took it in 8wks and it was relativly easy. I got an "A" and was 1st in the class. He let's you take quizzes over again and is very helpful. For the final and midterm, he gives you 12-13 essays for EACH and then says he will pick 4-5 for the exam. He suggests you write them out ahead of time.

Very nice and professional teacher; Easy class; smooth flow; he lectures through out the class but he is interesting; take good notes and download the notes from his website study and you will get an "A" just like I did. I highly recommend him

He is a very competent professor. He really wants you to learn and pass the test. Very little homework (research paper). Focus is passing test, which are essay and definition based. Easy A grade if you try. His door is always open and he answers emails quickly. I recommend him to anyone.

Pretty easy but just try to stay awake during lectures. Very leniant with grading as well as circumstances.

I had him online for 101 and now in class for 102. He is AMAZING. He goes slow, truly cares, and gives interesting anecdotes. Minimum work, some reading. He uses Blackboard so it's almost like having an online class. He is very patient and will teach you everything you need to know. He even helped me with some career goals! lol. Will take againinsp

I loved this class. I had no interest in sociology before, but I love it now. His lectures are pretty good, he uses a lot of real-life examples, and uses stories about his family a lot. I got away without reading the book a lot, but I took detailed notes during lecture. He's my favorite teacher that I've had in college, I love him!

Mr. Tashima is a great teacher. There are three essay exams; however, he passes out a study guide and there is a ton of extras that he posts on blackboard. The research paper was easy. The lectures are posted onto blackboard as well. He is always willing to help students. He really goes out his way to make sure students understand the material.

Excellent professor. Knows his subject matter well and is gifted at passing that knowledge to his students. His experience and passion for his job shine through on a daily basis. Taking his class was a pleasure and I'd recommend him to anyone.

i found his soc 101 online to be wonderful...he is very helpful and you can tell he enjoys this subject! I reccommend him to whoever doesn't understand sociology!!

Took this online, it was harder than I expected but I got through it and planned a wedding during the same time so I guess that's a good sign

Mr. Tashima is a very organized teacher he has all of his power points available on blackboard for you to access at any time. There is three essay midterms, 9 quizzes on Blackboard. He captured my attention. I recommend taking him.

Took his online Sociology class. I love it. It was easy and I learned a lot! I was taking him on campus first, but had to withdraw and let me tell you, his on campus lectures are soooo boring!!! Online was interesting!

Took his online class. He's very detail-oriented and requires lots of essays. It can be hard but he's really good with frequent reminders about what's due and when.

Very excellent teacher. All you have to do is take three essay which are so easy, i studied the night before and did well. Then the paper is easy, he lets you pick a topic. Then do the online quizzes and your good to go.

Prof. Tashima is worth taking. He gives essay questions for your exams not to hard but not easy. you will have a research paper, and he is willing to help you if you need it. Lots of notes. Great teacher to take.. GOOD LUCK

Mr. Tashima was a really nice guy, very orgainized and willing to help his students. His midterms were a lot of work as he gives way too many options of what might possibly be on the test... he is good about giving study guides but the class would be better if there weren't so many topics to study...

Excellent professor, sticks with the syllabus and keeps class interesting

The best teacher I have ever had at this school. He gives a lot of work, but you learn a lot because of it. This is class isn't too hard if you apply yourself. He makes you work for your grades, but he is a reasonable teacher. I took him online and found it very interesting. TAKE HIM.

Took online. A LOT of work. Tons of it. Critical in grading, but was reasonable at regrading from B to A. A ton of study material-so much it is overwhelming to remember everything. Text was awesome. I learned a lot, and had to work really hard for it.

Mr. Tashima was the best teacher i have had yet. He made everything VERY easy to understand. He wants his students to learn and he breaks things down so you can comprehend them. His online quizzes stay open all semester and you can take them as much as you want. Easy class. GREAT teacher!!!

Good overall class for an online class material was easy to follow and he had spot on powerpoints for the exam. You have to really try to fail this class.

For the person below me.He has lots of busy work for all of his classes not just online. This is college and it takes alot to get stuff done. He wants to make sure you learn. He didn't grade his papers random at all btw. Great teacher, took for another class. It's alot of work but it's worth it because it helps you with subject

Really helpful, easygoing instructor. I had many problems with Blackboard this semester and he helped me through every situation. He was understanding and he grades fairly.

Easy A. Go to class. It helped that I had a psychology background cuz some of the studies he teaches were the same used in psych 101. There are quizzes for every chapter. You have an unlimited amount of attempts to pass with the best possible grade. Did my entire research paper the day before it was due. 3 main tests with 3 essay Q's each.

6 wk online. Great instructor! Don't take if you can't devote the time! Unlimited quiz attempts, essays for tests (given prior!) unlimited extra credit and in-depth discussion boards. This teacher gives you everything you need to pass and rightfully expects a high standard of effort in return. Highly recommend!

This pertains to the online 8 week class. Unlike other online classes, all work is due at 11 PM which isn't bad, but there three are timed midterms. The textbook is used for all assignments, which are usually a blackboard post and discussion which he is clear on. There was an annotated bibliography.

8-wk is fast-paced but A is doable if you have decent writing skills, since lots of HW/testing is orig writing.All exam essay questions given in advance, allowing complete prep for gr8 grades.Very reasonable expectations for a 101 course, lots of cautions against plagiarism/cheating which is easy to avoid.Grateful 4 encouraging attitude,good prof.

Absolutely amazing professor. He was very encouraging and willing to help you and communicate with you, which is so important for an online class. This was my first online class and in 6 weeks i got an A. This class is very easy to pass, AS LONG as you are willing to put in effort and time. Definitely recommend for an online class.

First off, do not buy the textbook. His lectures give so much info and the midterm/final come 100% from the notes. There is a 10 pg. research paper at the end that will take a lot of time and NO procrastination. He is very easy and nice. The tests are written but REALLY easy!

By far the best online class/professor! Very detailed as to what needs to be done in order to succeed. Just stay on track and you will do good! Definitely watch the lectures as stated.

Tashima is one of my favorite professors so far. I thought he was pretty easy. Do the work, get an A. He gives you all of the possible essay questions for midterms and it is so so important to actually write them out before the test. Also make sure to watch his lecture videos. Extremely helpful with essay questions. Would definitely take him again

Tashima is a great online instructor. He posts lecture videos on blackboard which help out if you don't understand the things in the book. The book is a necessity! Overall he's a good professor and very helpful for an online teacher

Tashima is a great professor but be warned, even if you sign up for his in person class and nothing to do with online homework, you will still do all homework and many tests on the computer, stay away from him if you don't have a reliable computer or aren't very comfortable on it, one woman had to drop cause she just didnt understand computers.

Easy class. Interesting topic. Long lectures that can be viewed online, but are quite valuable. Do study guide questions, but not terms, to do well on midterms. Know the terms in the questions and you should do well on midterms. Cool professor. Do not need textbook if you have the internet.

For the most part I thought this class was pretty easy. As long as you read the chapter and watch the lecture slides you really can't go wrong with passing this class. It took the professor a while to grade our assignments. The midterms were super easy along with the discussion board activities. He is very clear with instructions.

Had a really great experience with him. Class wasn't to hard as long as you watched the lectures and took notes. Midterms were a lot easier than I was expecting. I am an awful test taker and I passed the midterms with ease. Would definitely take this class again. AWESOME PROFESSOR!

Very nice professor. Very quick to answer emails. There is a lot of work to be done in his class so if ur taking harder classes with him get ready to devote a lot of ur needing time to him. The class is passable if you put in the work. Pre & Post test, quizzes, discussion boards, and midterms. Explains exactly what he wants, has a lot of useful resources. DO NOT take this class if you are taking other hard classes because this class requires a lot of time and effort in the 8 week class. You can easily pass with an A if you do thework

Mr. Tashima is a great teacher. The syllabus and calendar help you keep track of what's due and when. He gives great advice on how to do assignments well in order to pass the class. Would take him again and highly recommend.

It was a pretty easy class, just have to put work into. There are Pre-test, post tests and quizzes all online and 3 midterm and one research paper. Follow the grading material and you will pass the class.

Quite possibly one of the best professors I've ever had in my life. I've had him twice already and would love to take him again. He doesn't require the textbook, he's lenient about due dates, doesn't assign much busy work and he works hard to prepare you for the final paper. He cares about his students and that's a sign of a great professor.

If this was a 16 week class, it would have been a difficulty of 1. But because it was a 8 week course it was a little more face paced. His grading is very clear, and He updates it pretty well. If you do the work, you will pass.

He is always there even though it's an online class. No matter what your issue is he is very helpful. His lectures are broken down and easy to follow.I am really enjoying this class. If you put forth the effort you will not have an issue. He is the most hands-on and involved teacher I've had in an online class.

Excellent professor. Only 2 criticisms: He sends so many unnecessary announcements and over-communicates (yes, its a thing!). And the first week of class especially there are so many hours of work. This class was almost as much work as my lab classes. Every week at least 10 hours of work. Be sure to write all the essays before the test to pass.

Theres a lot of busy work as each Revel sub chapter has a quiz as well as the chapter overall. Then there is a quiz on BB for each chapter too. DB and student replies are mandatory, as are the lectures. He gives you the midterm questions before hand in batches. It's best to write out all the different essays then c/p to the midterm. Uses turnitin

Professor Tashima, has put a lot of work into his online class. I respect that. He makes it clear what he expects from you from day one. If you do the work you will do well in his class. I took the 8week class, so it was a bit accelerated and time consuming.

Professor Tashima is a good professor. I am taking him online and the work is very clear. He does have lectures that are a bit boring, but they do help to explain the material. There are 3 midterms, Revel quizzes, tests on blackboard, and discussion posts. Professor Tashima responds quickly to emails. Definitely would take him again.

This was my first time taking an online class. Everything was made clear from the very start. The syllabus was clear and very helpful. The professor responded to emails in a matter of minutes. I would take this class again most definitely.

Professor Tashima is a really nice man i actually found his class really interesting, he gives out extra credit and you can do it as many times as you want to there is no limit. His essay tests are little bit tough but if you study your notes you'll be fine. His semester long project though-its a family history project that is a bit tough for me.

Probably one my favorite classes. He is super easy gives good lectures. Tells you exactly what you need to study on for the tests. A lot of hw but super easy!

I thought he would be hard but most of the hw is online and its just reading. Definitely do the essay questions for the essay test. His lectures are super boring, but either way just go cuz he mentions some things that are not in the book. Overall easy A.

Prof. Tashima works hard to ensure the success of his students. The 6-week online class was very tough, but he makes sure to cover everything so that his students can access the material when they need it. Ask questions and complete all the assignments on time. Your hard work will pay off.

He always makes sure EVERYONE understands. He can be a little boring but the class is so easy. He throws points at you and wants you to pass. 6 online tests with unlimited retakes, 2 online discussions, 2 blog posts, 3 in class short essay exams with study guide, 1 family slideshow. STUDY FOR EXAMS! They're the hardest part but still pretty easy.

Great teacher! I took his 6 week online class. This class is very time consuming. A lot of information learned in a very short time. He provides extra credit. Lectures can be long. A lot of reading for Pearson. Chapter essay exams and, chapter quizzes at the end of each chapter. He wants you to succeed at the best of your ability. Responds to email

I went through a mental breakdown about a week into the 16 week semester for Eugene's SOC101 class. He was very considerate and offered to work with me. I ended up withdrawing ( THANK YOU SO MUCH EUGENE!!! <3 ). But it meant a lot to me that he went out of his way to help. I will be re-taking his class at the next available semester.

I enjoyed taking Professor Tashimas class! If I needed to take another class that was taught by him, I would do it in a heartbeat! You of course, like any other class, participate to get the grade you want. He also is so helpful when its after hours as well! Highly Recommend.

Professor Tashima accepted me 3 days into the semester due to some people dropping which I highly appreciated. He's a very good teacher and very kind and his grading criteria is straightforward. Class work is fairly easy, if you don't get a B or above you just didn't try.

Mr. Tashima is a great teacher, but his class requires a lot of time and work. If you do all the work, it isn't hard to get a good grade, but be prepared to spend a lot of time on this class. There are a lot of essays and lectures, and there is one long research paper (lots of writing in this class). He responds to emails well and quickly, though.

Professor Tashima clearly has a huge passion for sociology. There is quite a bit of work, but it's not too hard. There are revel quizzes, chapter exams, essay exams, and a research paper. The essay exams were a substitute for the midterms due to no longer attending campus because of COVID, and they're time-consuming. Overall, he's nice and cares.

He is absolutley amazing! I had the most fun with his class. the textbook is mandatory because of Quizzes and his lecture videos you must watch there are questions on the test from the lecture. His class is an easy A IF you put the effort in. He also offers a ton of extra credit! And he is wiling to work with you.

Professor Tashima is by far one of my favorite professors here at VVC. He is an extremely kind and understanding person. Professor Tashima is very inspiring as well, and he is with you every step of the way to make sure you will grasp the world of Sociology. I highly recommend his courses for they are very insightful on the society we live in.

Assignments were very straightforward. Just be sure to watch all lectures because part of the essay exam rubric includes watching all lecture materials. All in all, great class. A subject I've gained a ton of interest in.

I retained so much information from this class. It wasn't just read and test. Learning was fun and informative with video's to help you learn as well. Gets back to you right away and will help you with anything you need. The best class I have taken so far at VVC online.
