this class was physical torture, thank goodness i had my laptop or would have gone crazy. the class is hard, blackboard works for no one, she is impossible to understand and i have yet to meat one person happy to be there AVOID AT ALL COSTS

She knows the material but can't teach it!! She loses control of the class and is a very soft speaker. The only good this about the class was that the test were multiple choice which can be tough when you don't learn anything. Definitely avoid having this teacher!!!

All this "avoid this teacher at all costs" is great, except that she's the only one who teaches this class. Oh, and "teacher" is a misnomer in this case. Just know that when you take her class you'll be teaching yourself everything. You won't learn a thing in class.

Poor classroom management. Reads from notes on the projector all class, bring your laptop for some entertainment. Wouldn't really call what she does teaching. Fortunately, you can do well on class and weekly qiuzzes if you do them right, and tests were just like practice tests she gave.

If you can teach yourself a hard subject then go for it. Otherwise stay away. There was a load of extra credit for this class....but even with that 30% of the people failed.

I will most likely get an A in this class, but it is only because I went to Supplemental Instruction most of the time. If you have her and your SI leader isnt good you are in trouble.

She reads notes that she doesnt even write word for word in class, and doesnt answer questions very well if you ask. Also there are multiple choice exams that really mess up your grade. laziest proffessor ive ever had.

Doesn’t speak English, very quiet voice, has no control over the classroom, reads from notes that are in the book, doesn't put numbers in the problems so it’s hard to follow. Class quizzes require you to go everyday, if not no one would go because you actually become more confused.

What a moron. She is such a retard she gets herself confused while teaching. She cannot answer questions, and is extremely incompetent. If you want to learn the material in her class, don't show up. It will only confuse you. Send the shortbus to rescue us.

She tries her best, but seems to be nervous most of the time. A bit confusing and doesn't cover concepts. Only goes over problems which are also a bit confusing. Must come to class and pay close attetion to understand her explanations. Doesn't get respect from students.

Alright well I really hope she reads this one, because if she could do anything to make her a better teacher it would be teach CONCEPTS!!! I'm just saying I cant really do problems and learn anything without having known the background. 15 min. of concepts is not enough. It would help with class.

Only college can take rediculously easy material and give you teachers who make it obnoxiously difficult. Ciocan is a nice enough lady, but as a teacher she is completely worthless as far as helping you understand the material.

She tries really hard and has a genuine concern for students, but as a teacher she just doesn't teach anything. The only things I have learned this semester in physics were taught to me in SI sessions. Would highly recommend prior knowledge of physics if taking this professor.

This teacher is terrible, it is not even worth going to class to watch her work out 2 example problems, do not take this class unless you plan on teaching the material too yourself

She knows what she's talking about; unfortunately, nobody else does. Her complete failure to teach the material in an understandable way makes what should be a relatively easy course into an annoying one. She also has serious insecurity issues in the classroom and really just needs to get a life.

I hate the class, very hard to understand. She does problems by herself and doesn't worry about the students understanding the material. Going to class is worthless, She is very disorganized when writing on the board. Don't take this class, if you have a choice. Avoid a bad grade.

I feel sorry for her. She really wants to be a good teacher but she seems to be incapable. I don't know why but for some reason it is just impossible to obtain any knowledge from her lectures. If you are a good calculus student you should be able to get by pretty easily. Otherwise get help and study

She is very passionate about physics, but does not communicate material to the students. If you know physics from highschool you will do good, but if you struggle with physics you will struggle in this course. The weekly quizes are easy though!

I went to almost every class and every day I said what am I doing here. She does not teach Physics to you. She knows the material, but all she does is work problems and gets you lost in her explanation. If you ask her a question she goes all the way around the question.

She is a very nice lady, and is very motivated in teaching the material. If you get to know her and ask questions after class, it will work out ok. She does have a difficult time communicating with the class in some instances.

Good Luck!! She is extremly nice, but has no idea how to communicate to a class. Exams are fair. She also gives tons of extra credit to make up for any poor exams. Your going to be teaching yourself in her class.

Very hard to understand. If you dont attend class, no real chance of passing. Goes over test problems in class. Quick to become defensive. However many the negatives, is extremely helpful, will do anything for you to understand. Gives out good extra credit, and is overall a nice person. However, try for other teacher if can.

Like others have said she really wants to be a good teacher, but she cant ever get a grasp on it. I learned nothing from lecture but i went anyway because calc 106 was right after that class. I tried office hours but she kicked me out when she found i was only in 106. Well guess what i made a 95% on the exam and an A in the class.

Class is pointless, I went the first few weeks, thats it. Go to Hanrahan's SI sessions. He gives the answers to quizzes. And for the tests, don't bother studying. Learn how to read scantrons from a distance. This is all I did and I made a high B. Hope it works in 221.

If you want to teach yourself physics, then this is the class for you. She gets distracted very easily about stuff that doesn't mean anything. She argues with students and threatens to kick them out or call security on them because they are talking to each other trying to figure out what she is teaching.

I studied hard and got an A no problem. She's not half as bad as she's made out to be. She's a math teacher and she gives math teacher explanations, period. She usually goes FAR beyond what the average student (myself included) wants to hear, i.e. asking questions usually only added to my confusion. But her tests are EXACTLY like practice material.

Again, class is pointless except to see the problems she's gonna use. If you can't learn it on your own, go to SI. They'll teach you everything you need to know there. SI was all I did and I got a high B.

This Lady is Soooo nice, and i makes me feel bad, becuase i hate her as a teacher. She is confusing, disorganized, and while she gladly answers questions, it is never the question you asked that she answers. If you ask about something she thinks she just explained, she gets very insulted too. Like every one says, get someone else instead.

I made an a in this class, but it was only because I'm good at Physics. She has very odd ways for solving for problems (i.e. 7 equations when 2 will work). She isn't very clear either because not only does she have an accent, but she does connect on her thoughts either. If you can teach yourself, you'll do fine, if you can't get someone else.

This teacher might as well be speaking her native tongue. The solutions to the practice exams are basically in Aramaic. She does give you some extra credit opportunities, but once you've dug yourself into a hole these won't help you out. The first test it easy, but don't count on any of the others being the same.

She seems to genuinely want to be a good teacher, but she unfortunately falls flat on her face. I really do feel sorry for her. She manages to confuse me even when talking about stuff that I already know how to do well from other classes. You'll really need to do a lot of work on your own to get through with a good grade.

Not a great teacher, but the class isn't too hard. Just do the practice tests, homework and the quizes and the tests are easy. The test problem are almost word for word old problems that you've already seen. Kind of hard to understand in class, but not too bad.

DO NOT take this professor if you don't already know how to do physics. I can honestly say after taking physics 122 and 221 under her, I know nothing new about physics. She is very confusing and the only nice thing to be said is that she genuinely wants to help and teach, but she absolutely does not have the ability to carry out her wishes.

I would say that if you have her, get out of the class; unfortunately, she is your only option. My advice is do NOT go to class. She will only confuse you. I did better on the tests when I taught myself the material. Just study the practice tests and online quizzes and the tests will be manageable.

If you go to class and try, you will do well. If you ask for help, you will get it. Class will be boring at times. Go anyway. Sometimes, you won't understand her. Ask for help from her or a classmate. If you can do the examples from class, you will do well on the exams. Many people whine and complain about her, but she really isn't that bad.

Just type the basic equations used on quizzes and examples into your calculator and change numbers out on exams. Ignore the ones she gives. Did that with ZERO studying and got B then C. You or others will figure out the trick to doing the quizzes.

After a while I realized going to class was pointless.. She's real hard to understand.. And to add to that she takes FOREVER to update grades or post solutions to exams.. The other teachers seem to always be up a week before she can get hers up.. Take her if you are really good at physics and want to skip every class, she doesnt use the buzzers.

Okay, so there's a language barrier. Sometimes she will be a little difficult to understand, but she will do whatever it takes to clear things up if you actually ask. She gives ample opportunities for extra credit, and to resolve any confusions you may have. Very good professor if you actually put forth the effort to learn.

Probably the worst professor of all time. Basically going to class consists of listening to her go over problems, many of which the solutions are already posted online. Each problem takes her fifteen minutes to explain because she makes so many mistakes. Adding to the annoyance is the fact that her grasp of the English language is basically nil.

Most definitely this is the worst teacher ever. You are definitely wasting ur money if you actually want to learn anything. Her english is terrible on top of the fact she is about as smart as any of the kids in the class sleeping. The one good thing in this class is that the tests are exactly like the mock exams, so study those and ur good to go.

Sure shes a sweet lady, she just cant speak english. She knows her stuff, she just cant teach it to you. She doesnt use buzzers, so you can skip a lot of the classes. I went to one a week. How you do depends on your study habits and understanding of physics. SI helps for the quizzes. I got an A and so did my friend, but they arent all that common

She doesn't have perfect english, limited vocabulary, the first test was nothing like the practice exam, the second one was similar to the practice exam, no midterm, the quizzes are easy if you get with a group, dont come in late (she will call you out for distrubing your collegues), answer questions in class for extra credit, exams are impossible!

"Let me make more clear" is something she likes to say a lot. She doesn't speak very good english so you may want to read ahead to get a grasp on what she is trying to say. Online quizzes are easy b/c you can take them 3 times and use your book/help from friends. Exams are easy if you do the practice exam (basically the same thing).

She is really easy! If you took physics in high school or know anything about then she is for you. Don't goto class since she can't teach you much and doesn't take attendance. Quizs are online and can be taken 3 times. Exams are easy and only 15 multi choice. If you just have to take the class but don't want to waste your time in lecture, Take Her!

Very easy class. Went to class before the first exam. After that, rarely went. If you do the quizzes, and get her study guide, you will get an A. Her tests are exactly like the study guide.

Easy class... bad teacher. Her accent is hard to understand, and she writes problems on the board without explaining them step by step... on the plus side, though, she gives extra credit for class participation, her tests are exactly like the practice exams, and her powerpoints are online so attendance isn't required.

Dr. Ciocan can be a helpful teacher. If you have no prior knowlegde in physics I suggest MANY SI and tutoring sessions. Her english is limited, but she will work hard to re-explain the concept for your understanding. Ok teacher, but you will work for grade.

Dr. Ciocan scares many people off for her poor command of the English language, but her class really isn't bad at all. I went to three classes in all and completely self-taught myself. She allows for exemptions on the final if you have an A, and the only grades are three one-hour tests and a weekly online quiz that you can re-do three times.

This class was so boring. The good thing about going to class was that she offered extra credit if you answered a question or solved something on the board, don't go unless you need it. Tests are just like the practice tests with different numbers. It's not hard to come out with an "A" but don't expect to be prepared for the next physics.

okay she is a tough one to listen to. however, if you do your labs correctly, cheat on all your quizzes, study her notes & quizzes. do the practice exams & participate. there is no reason you should not get an A. always participate, its her golden key. So to begin the class PHY 252 is not listed but this is the one I took with her. Broken english makes the class difficult to understand. Good luck asking for a second look at anything. Don't expect any help when you need it. Most she will do is refer you to the book and that's all. I would say that youtube has helped me way more than her. JUST DONT
