I recommend this teacher for whoever is interested. This class is fairly easy and entertaining. Im hoping to take him again soon.
Professor Zaldivar is a really cool guy. His class is pretty easy. Bring your homework to class with you, and you're bound to hear him say the answers. All of his test questions come from his online homework and guides. So if you just memorize them, you'll pass all of the tests. Very easy.
I would recommend this class to anyone. The class itself is pretty straightforward. Attendance isn't mandatory but it his lectures do help when it comes to homework and tests (which are all online). Zaldivar himself is pretty sarcastic and blunt but hilarious. He'll often go off into stories that will strangely relate back to the topic at hand. A+
He is a really funny professor! He takes random attendence so its best to always be there! His homework and test are pretty easy! Overall, he is a good professor!
I took this course online and perhaps in person he is more helpful. In my opinion the class was informative. I was able to learn a lot and the case studies were realistic and interesting. However, he does not respond to e-mails or student questions in my opinion, and that really bothered me!!
I didn't like the professor at all. He never really seemed to know if he was saying the right thing. he never explained anything and expected us to figure out for our selves.
Ok. This teacher is so so. His exams and homework are online so you easily take it with friends; however, he rarely responds in emails. He takes a long time to grade things. He is very straight foward but funny in class. I would take him if you like the class but don't expect a easy A
He is funny. But sometimes in LALA Land, I have to always ask what is for homework cuz the papers are not clear and then he gets upset if the work is not done properly. He rarely pass attendance. I collects homework randomly, so you can kill yourself doind all the homework, he may just collect one or two. C- at best.
ahhh! cant teach dont like the way he teaches by just going to class and talking what the author is saying its better if you stay home and read the book and complete the test online. Not organized to having test dates. Test are extremely hard with limited time.
Very good teacher. The class is mostly lecture based and he does a great job of being informative and entertaining at the same time. Read the material, show up to class, and participate in the discussions (he requires some level of participation), you'll do fine. Tests are online and fairly easy. Short and easy HW assignment for each essay read.
This teacher was horrible and showed up late to class. He then kicked students out of class if their cell phone rang, or they were late. Extremely rude and made me lose all interest in philosophy. Do not take this class you will regret it! The first day turned me off when he tried to be cool by talking about tripping and watching the matrix. Ego w
Loved this class! All test & hw are online. Coming to class listening to his lectures clearified the readings most of the time. The test aren't hard if you read the book and/or come to class. Attendance isn't madatory but he takes attendance randomly and gives EC for it at the end. He hates when nobody participates or only the same people answer.
This online class had no lectures or forum discussion and little assigned reading material, so you depend on his feedback on your graded assignments (which he is slow to provide) and your own initiative to learn/improve. I get the impression that people who lack strong writing and critical thinking skills going into the class will struggle.
I had zaldivars phi2010 class online. it was fairly easy, If you do the reading questions & hw each week with some effort youre almost guaranteed an A. I spent between 30min-1hour each week this class. He is unorganized though. he forgets to post things and does not respond to emails very quickly. I would recommend him for his online, NOT on campus
Kind of a strange guy. Class is boring, but then i do not like philosophy. Not difficult.
The online course was decent. Every Friday there was a quiz and a response to the reading due at 8PM. Term paper and a final exam that was like the reading responses that are not long at all. He wants direct answers not long explanations. I received an A. You can also gain attendance pts if you email him or join discussions.
Classes are interesting and he's always open for discussing the material to foster a better understanding of it. HW for the class was based off the reading he assigned, all fairly straight forward and easy to complete.
Cool teacher. I will take him again. Attendance is not mandatory but class participation is what made my grade. Homework quesions are a little confusing. He tries to "make you a better philosoper." All in all, a fun class to take.
He is a phenomenal and engaging professor. He made ethics interesting and actually made me begin to contemplate the ethical dilemmas of our society. The way he involves the class with lectures and gives relatable examples makes even difficult concepts comprehensible. I strongly, strongly suggest you take this Professor.
he really makes you think and kind of picks your brain a little.A good thing in this class. He involves the students and wants you to pass. Funny guy
He's funny and makes the topics interesting. He re-words seemingly complicated concepts and makes them much more clear. The work load isn't much. As long as you do all the work and show up to class, there's no way you won't pass.
Fun class, No clarity on assigments and you have no idea what your grade is until your done with the class.
The class is not difficult but he does not make his expectations clear. He does not explain assignments at all and can be quite forgetful. There are reading and analysis questions due every tuesday and friday. Then there is one research project that is also your final. If you can help it, I do not recommend his online class if you cannot self-teach
I like the teacher, he was very interesting. You can tell he knows what he is talking about and is very helpful on assigmnemnts. He teaches well and is easy to understand. The class itself requires a lot of work. I did everything last minute and still got an A though (don't know how truthfully). I would take him again if I could.
He's so nice and helpful. If you are a disciplined student, you will do well on his class. Do all assignments and you will be deserved on your works. I made an A on his class though I was so scared at the first time taking Philosophy. Now I do like the subject a lot! I strongly recommend his class :-)
Took him for Intro to Ethics. Great professor and very interesting class. He really encourages and makes you think about things. Assignments were fairly easy, always made sure class understood material before moving on. Exams were pretty easy as well. As long as you attend each class, you'll do fine!
I failed the class, but I'm terrible at philosophical concepts. Professor is good at explaining things and pretty funny, but he maintains a certain aloofness that can be offputting. The class is not easy but is not horribly difficult either. Would not recommend, but, like I said, I despise philosophy.
He's a super cool guy but not the best teacher. You really have to be into Ethics if you want to take his class. I've always been a straight A student and I even struggled with his class. He's not that clear with work and assigns a major project that's a pain. He's understanding and pretty funny. I'd only recommend if you're really into philosophy.
In all honesty, he's probably the most arrogant professor I've ever met. He tries to come off as being funny and sarcastic, but it gets a little scary. The homework quizzes are ridiculous, you "extrapolate" the answers because they're not in the book. He's very dispassionate when it comes to philosophy, and seemed like he just wanted to leave.
Really amazing professor, he does a great job with keeping his opinion out of the material which I think is really important. He isn't always clear with what he wants but it's because he wants people to think for themselves. He's a nice guy and has a good sense of humor, if you are witty and can catch his jokes, you'll enjoy it. Highly recommend!
Class is not an easy A but he is a nice guy. He is sometimes confusing bc he wants your answer. Not recommended for first semester freshman. He is very slow grader, takes a long time for him to respond to email and his quizzes are difficult. He keeps his lectures interactive and easy to listen to. He LOVES Philosophy, so I recommend you do too.
Class is really easy. Only took one exam the entire semester. Still managed to get an A even with only going to class once a week. Takes forever to grade, but grades easily. Is very nice and funny as long as you participate in class.
DR.Z is a very nice teach the book readings are challenging but the very next class he basically explains everything you were supposed to have read. He's really nice and funny and an easy grader and is very understanding and helpful do take the class!!
Nice but sarcastic & arrogant. Understanding if you alert him ahead of time. This class is not easy. You are expected to do an honors style project so don't take when your course load is heavy as you are expected to put in a lot of effort. Overall an interesting & somewhat amusing class. Just don't mention super villains or you'll be there all day.
You will have to work a decent amount, but he is an easy grader. You should make a good grade if you do the work. He really loves philosophy and teaching, so he likes participation. Overall, it was a great class.
Professor Z is a great teacher and when it comes to holding back his viewpoint so that students can learn he is good. Though we don't agree on all subject matters, I would still recommend this professor to others simply for the sake of meeting a great teacher!
This professor is the type people hope to have. You will learn, and you will come out a better person for taking this class. The subject matter is difficult at times to rationalize through, but it is necessary and extremely beneficial. Definitely a highly recommended professor and class. I wish this was mandatory for everyone!
He his honestly a great professor. You can immediately tell he is so into what he talks about which made me more interested. I think Philosophy people have their own language but he tries to be as clear as possible. We have no tests and the final was cake.
The material can be challenging but he posts short slides for each article that are very helpful. Gives a lot of feedback, entourage challenging yourself.I took this class online for summer B which made it even more challenging. There is a lot of writing and critical thinking. Not an easy A but well worth the work! Grades fair.
Most awesome professor ever!!! He's nice, funny, and helps out if you need it. He's pretty cool too. Modern guy. Again, very awesome. Would definitely recommend him!
Exceptionally bright professor, I would not recommend him to anyone without an abiding interest in humanities. There is a lot of strange readings, videos and events (stuff you wouldn't normally expect).Expect to spend a lot of time discussing controversial topics and considering odd perspectives. But then again, why not tear down the Pantheon?
Very awesome!
I took intro to philosophy and loved the class. Professor Z was awesome. I was very interested in the class. He is very here and there with attendance. I would recommend him! The class is easy if you just read the material. I loved the class. He was very helpful, and answered all of my questions. He tries to keep it as interesting as possible.
Dr. Z is probably one of the best professors I have taken thus far. If you take him, just know that he shows up to class at least 10 minutes late every day. His lectures aren't too boring. He really gets you to think about the subject. The assignments were relatively easy and there were no tests. Take him if you get the chance!
I took this class a couple years back and have since moved on to UF. It isn't until now that I realize the value of class like Dr. Zaldivar's. He teaches the class in a manor that gets students involved. He'll often be the bad guy to get rouse out of his students. He doesn't bog you down with dumb work just a little reading.
One of the hardest classes I have ever taken. He is a tough grader and is super arrogant. If you like a lot of busy work and rude feedback take this class.
I took prof. Z twice because I LOVED his classes. If you want the University experience at SF his class is it. He challenges your thoughts and expectations of the world and is incredibly easy to talk to. I think people are intimidated by him but approach him you won't regret it. His readings are high level and his class takes work but is worth it!
Love love LOVE Professor Z. He's one of the professors you want to have in the sense that he goes above and beyond the material; he wants you engaged in what you're studying and wants you to pass. Honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. I wish I had time to take him for more classes!
He is a comical character to say the least. If you want to A's this class participate in class discussions. In order to be in discussions that means you at least have to do some reading of the textbook.
Dr. Z has a twisted sense of humor. He will frequently play your opponent in a debate to see how well you can support your arguments. This doesn't nescessarily mean he disagrees with you, rather, he wants you to be able to use sound logic. Participation is a fundamental experience in college and Dr. Z definitely favors those who speak up.
Zaldivar is a character, once you warm up to him you start to appreciate the type of professor he is and start to like going to his class. Definitely a good guy and professor!
I took him for World Philosophy and Intro and he's not easy. Discussions are involved. Essays (if there are any) aren't easy. He requires you to read. He wants it that way. That's college. He's understanding and he makes class entertaining, but people who aren't willing to put in effort aren't going to do well in his class.
I want to preface by stating that I'm a Philosophy major, and I have loved PHI for my entire life. Professor Zaldivar is the worst philosopher I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. He seeks only to make himself seem intelligent, and never to actually learn or even teach anything. The man is an egotistical fool.
I hate this guy. Only answers questions that make him look smart. Protip: If you didnt do the reading, just ask him a stupid question and he'll spend the whole class with a big grin on his face explaining how much smarter he is than you.
Made me hate Philosophy. DO NOT TAKE.
I took this class because it fit perfectly into my schedule. That was my first mistake. My second was not dropping the class. This guy just likes to her himself talk. He has no interest in answering questions from students.
If you can form coherent thoughts and consider yourself somewhat intelligent. You won't enjoy this class. Nothing is worse than hearing a imbecile try to sound smart.
I assumed he was a new prof because it took him a full month to get himself together, assignments weren't avail on time. when a student called him out he promptly fixed it, but it was rocky for awhile. Also no real free thought, the hw is set up so you just tell him what he wants to hear. He wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't take him again.
This guy is the most arrogant person I have ever encountered in my entire life. He loves to hear himself talk and you must write his stupid analysis questions to pet his ego. If you hold any other views than what he has himself, get ready for hell. Would NEVER reccomend anyone take this guy. I still got an A but he takes forever to grade.
If you want a good grade, you're definitely going to have to work really hard for it.
These are ALL hilariously true. Don't take him. You'll regret it. Most hilarious is that he somehow talked his way into being an Honors Philosophy professor, seriously. Houston, we have a problem!
He is a really good philosophy professor!! Puts things in different perspective and makes you think. He will challenge you and help you learn new material everyday. He is super cool and friendly!
I was super nervous for this class, but Prof Zaldivar eased my fears. He's so understanding and helpful. Ethics is a difficult subject, but he makes it simple and facilitates an awesome environment for online discussion. Plus, his video lectures and posts always have a funny element too them. I'm actually sad the class is over! Take this professor!
Took this class because it was my only option and this professor is cool!!!! I knew nothing about Philosophy but he makes class fun and homework is do-able ! The final is optional! Do the assignemnts, read, and participate and you'll do fine! Very laid back class but dont take it or him for granted!
While this professor is not the worst, he is also not the best. He's not always clear in his expectations, takes a long time to grade, and when he does grade they tend to be tough. He does provide good feedback once he submits the grades, and he does offer extra credit quizzes. Overall, I would probably take him again, but not as a first choice.
Not a bad professor, just expect a lot of unnecessary digressions. Self-absorbed. Takes FOREVER to grade assignments, so expect to have no idea where you stand in terms of your grade. If you make an exceptional effort, he will recognize it; but his occasional bad attitude makes for an unenjoyable class environment.
Took his Ethics class online and it was a really fun and engaging class! He offered extra credit and was very helpful with feedback.
The best professor you will ever have! No tests, final is optional but no one in my class had to take the final because their grades were so good. the textbook isnt really necessary, i found everything online. going to class will make answering the AQs soo much easier he literally gives you the answers. Also you learn a lot and hes hilarious. 10/10
Neither here nor there about it. Takes forever to grade.
Professor Zaldivar really knows his stuff when it comes to philosophy. There are weekly assignments but if you stay on top of them they are not that hard and it gives you alot of points to make the grade you want. There were no tests throughout the semester just a couple quizzes in the form of an AQ and a final exam. Would recommend
If you don't share the same viewpoints as him, good luck. Very opinionated and will ask for your opinion, only to shut you down if you say something he doesn't agree with personally. Gives two assignments on a weekly basis but won't grade any of them until the end of the semester. The fact that he teaches ethics is ironic and a joke.
Doesn't like to grade papers, be prepared to wait for months. Decent grading, but lots of reading and writing.
Don't buy the textbook, every article is online. He is hilarious and discussions are interesting. Participation is mandatory. You are only graded on workbooks, so if you miss them your grade tanks, but if you keep up with them it is an easy A or B. He encourages you to think and see other's perspectives. Enjoyed this class more than I thought!
Had to wait for months for anything to be graded, making it difficult to know your grade. Would recommend not taking the class online as for me it was just boring without any discussions.
I had to drop this class. We were expected to understand an analyze complex philosophical writings with little to no help. Went to his office hours and he was extremely unhelpful. This review is coming from someone who works hard and gets pretty decent grades. One of the worst professors I've ever had. Very pretentious.
Really funny, approachable guy. However, finals are next week and I still dont have any grades in yet. I havent really learned anything.
If you do the work, you'll get the grade. Tries to make lectures interesting. Can be a little slow to grade. Listened to what student's thought.
Eugene is great professor whos funny and knowledgable. He makes space for everyones opinions and is willing to have a constructive conversation. Hes pretty approachable even though he may not seem like it at first. Stop by his office if you can and you wont regret it!
I wasn't the best student, but the class was amazing. I genuinely enjoyed going to the lectures. They were really funny but also really helpful for the material. The work is extremely clear and straight forward. Read an essay, answer some questions. Rinse and repeat all the way to the end. 10/10
Dr. Z is a very intelligent professor and I've learned a lot from his class. Many students complain about his grading taking forever but he's very lenient on grading assignments and even lets you turn them in late and resubmit them for a better grade. Attend class + Participate in Discussion Pass. Great professor!
I really dont think l you learn much but I do suggest to take this class because its an easy a and its a good class to take if you like philosophy .
Prof. Zaldivar lays out exactly what you will need to do for his class very clearly. Do one reading assignment and answer questions a week. Final is optional. I recommend Zaldivar for anyone with even a vague interest in philosophy. This class turned my interest in the topic into me deciding to pursue a degree in it.
Great professor, slow grader, great facilitator of discussion in class, tries his best to be funny and occasionally succeeds
Great Professor, as long as you follow instructions you will get an A. However, he waits until the very last day to grade everything so attempt to follow instructions properly and always hit the word count.
He has a good sense of humor and kept lectures interesting. He was really generous with my grade, and the only reason I did not receive an A was because I missed a few of his weekly workbooks which are super easy. Do the work and you should pass with an A.
Enjoyed the class, uses book plus thoughtful in class discussions. Course work is simple, just read and do work. Not difficult at all
I took Ethics with no previous philosophy courses I really learned a lot and the lectures were very interactive and humorous. He likess to make it real not abstract, not just the ideas themselves. If you read the book and take notes, you should do well. No tests, just short writing assingments and short essay at the end.
Z makes it easy to understand the material. Has videos to help with textbook. He can be corny but at least he tries to be funny. He'll listen to you.
Professor Zaldivar is great. He wants you to pass and wants you to go to office hours. His ethics class is discussion based for the weeks reading. the topics covered are interesting and there is good discussions.
Professor Zaldivar is awesome. Makes a lot of jokes, and he's always willing to answer any question about literally anything. Hes flexible and pushes things back when people need it. Just talk to him.
He makes it interesting and is very willing to help if you don't understand a concept. Be sure to read the chapters ahead of time! You will be able to understand and follow the lectures better.
I took Prof. Z, on-line. Its way easier if you go to his zoom office hours to talk about the readings. Don't forget the discussions posts. have your book open when you take any quizzes.
The reading and assignments might be a bit hard at first and tough to understand but Dr. Z goes over it in class, making it super easy to understand. This was an Biomedical Ethics, perfect for nursing students. Do the readings, blog discussions, and participate
Prof Z class is thought provoking. Makes you think and question all aspects of life. He definitely doesn't want you to fail.
Z is an great professor who is more than willing to work with students. He wants them to succeed. More than anything he is going to make you think k. He is going to let you have your own ideas and push you to work them.
Zaldivar is a good guy. He tries to relate to the class and there is NO pressure. He has a sense of humor and i like going to his class.
Prof Z has interesting topics. He cares a lot about students and does everything he can to make sure they can pass. Would recommend to anyone debating taking philosophy.
good beard. answers questions, and makes class topcis relate to real world.
He has a good sense of humor and kept lectures interesting. He was really generous with my grade, follow instructions properly and always hit the word count.
Really funny, approachable guy. I do suggest to take this class because its an easy a and its a good class to take if you like philosophy .
He was very helpful, and answered all of my questions. He tries to keep it as interesting as possible. This was an Biomedical Ethics, perfect for nursing students. Do the readings, blog discussions, and participate
Very enthusiastic about content. likes digressions, more fun than other classes.
discussions are interesting. Participation is mandatory. workbooks, if you miss them your grade takes a hit, but if you keep up with them it is an easy A or B. He encourages you to think and see other's perspectives. Enjoyed this class more than I thought! Pitter Patter.
Nice professor. Is there to help students. Class basically consists of reading, quiz, and short writing. its all open book. just stay on top of your reading and you will pass.
Great at introducing philosophical ideas in funny and easy to understand ways. He's a bit over the top, but it's just his style. Classes really make you think and are fun. He's a bit scatter brain at times, but very helpful otherwise. He really likes to let students guide the discussion.
Shares his knowledge onto a class. He's fair and despite being always busy will always find time to meet with you.
Dr. Z makes you think about things in different ways then you're used to. Make sure you explain your answers in the short writing assignments and you'll do fine.
he likes doing case studies in this class if you want to discuss different ideas it's interesting, but youhave to have opionions about the readings.
There is a bit of work involved in this 3 credit course, but not a ton. There are some (short) reports. Textbook & attendance are mandatory. Essay quizzes are due on the sundays. Ask him funny icebreakers.
Take this class if you like talking about things companies do. Let's you argue your position. Takes late work.
Zaldivar will get you thinking about things from different angles. The readings aren't easy but he helps you to get it. Keep up with the work.
Even if he a bit desorganized (especially after a break), he is nice, and will give you good feedback and help if you ask. You can always go to hisoffice hours, and he is always happy to help with anything.
All of the content revolves around weekly readings and full-class discussions, some readings of which falls outside of the textbook. He seems to care a lot for the subject, grades fairly, and is willing to work out requests and accommodations. Check your feedback itll help your grades.
Dr. Zaldivar gives you feedback you can use. He tries to make lecture interesting by asking for your input. but the class content is a little tough. Ask him about his shoes and is dedicated to the students. If you put in the effort, it's almost impossible not to pass this class
His courses demand higher level thinking (no bird courses here! but he supports and encourages students. His perspectives on our texts were interesting, but he still encouraged independent thought.
Dr. Z is an amazing professor that can make philosophy interesting for anyone and his lectures are more focused on discussion.
He's cool, tries to make students laugh, and truly does care about his students despite joking that he's gen-x and cant not be sarcastic. He cracks cheesy jokes and goes off on tangents, but acknowledges he does. If you put in work for him, he'll put in work for you. Highly recommend him!
He is knowledgable in the subject area and molds the class around what is going on in life. She understands that not everyone is an philosophy major and therefore chooses topics that are interesting for everyone.
Zaldivar is a good professor who knows what hes doing. Hes really understanding when it comes to extensions on the work. His feedback on the essays is appreciated just dont expect him to respond to emails on a weekend. Z is one of those professors who you can talk to.
His class was interesting. He grades fair and he is funny. I would recommend to take him. My writing skills have improved as well. He is an awesome professorus rex. Ask him about killing X-men.
Great teacher!! Go to class and take notes (he doesn't go fast so it'll be easy to write everything important). He uses a free textbook. Follow the instructions and it's an easy A. Enjoyable class as well. Let's you argue about real wolrd examples.
Zaldivar is a cool dude, he does have a lot of papers to write but other than that he is chill, and no tests. the information is good to know, but it was A LOT. other than that if you want be in his class then i suggest you do, because he was pretty cool.
Wery passionate about stuff-I admire that. He also forces you to think outside the box, to not take things at face value. Overall cool Prof. Also very accomodating. Likes cool shoes.
is an great professor who is more than willing to work with students. loves to see people come to office hours and cares about students. He wants them to succeed. More than anything he is going to make you think k. he is going to expand your world and push you to think your own ideas.
he explains things in such a way that it is easy to understand and comprehend. Classnotes is key to your understanding in the class and do the homework.
Great teacher. Take the notes, he doesn't have handouts. No tests, final is optional. Use your notes and read the book for the assignments. He's clear and concise (but its philosophy, so) and doesn't try to trick you. He actually wants his students to do well.
Prof Z assigns weekly readings and expects students to participate. He doesn't traditionally teach through lecturing, he wants discussions. The class grade was based on attendance, short writings, and 1 final paper (5-7pgs). he's a good grader and really friendly outside of class.
Dr. Z is a great teacher to have and everybody should take him when they can! Always there if you need help with anything, and you can ask him pretty much anything and he will give you feedback. He encourages good discussions in class.
Zaldivar is really knowledgeable and explains difficult concepts well. Essays work could seem intimidating at first, but all the questions are actually fair and are based on material from the text and discussion. The prof is approachable after class..
Attending class and doing the assigned work is the easiest way to pass. I usually did all the homework during the weekends.
This class is very challenging. The material is very theoretical - which means lecture attendance is very necessary. He's sort of quirky and sarcastic but in a good natured way, and is very eager to help students... if you do the work you should be ok...
He wants everyone to succeed. if things are hard to understand he will explain it and do everything he can to help. He is funny, and seems like he cares about teaching.
Z is an interesting teacher to say the least. He is very interested and intellectual when it comes to the subject matter he is teaching. There are no tests.
Prof Zaldivar is a great teacher. If you come to class and participate, you should make an A. He requires each student do prework and think about the issues.
he at least tries to be funny and make discussion interesting. He is always willing to help her students anyway he can. His classes are pretty easy if you show up and pay attention and take notes. No tests. weekly assignments based on readings.
Not hard to get an A as long as you do the work. It's a writing class so there are a few small papers during the semester and a big one at the end. The online quizzes were pretty easy as long as you paid attention to the quesitons and essays . The discussion were thought provoking, on topics you don't normally get to talk about.
Coursework are not that hard and somewhat interesting. Its mostly a writing class with a new topic every week.
Great class, never stressed about it. His lectures were entertaining, and he engaged with the class. The material in the course was a tad boring, but acceptable when it came to the final grade. Thanks Dr.Z.
I'll be honest with a 70% attendance average, but keeping up with the readings, you will pass easily & still have time for your other classes. Dr. Z. Happens to be my favorite type of teacher, assigns us work to be done at our pace, is reasonable & understanding about the student lifestyle. This teacher is definitely to be highly recommended.
Professor Zaldivar utilizes his degree in philosophy to expand on the textbook. Every week you have a paper to write in coordination with the reading material. Make sure to stay on top of them. The final is also a paper and nothing too intense. There are a lot of discussion posts responses to interact with your classmates. Very self taught.
The only class where everyone was open to just openly discuss anything at all. Dr. Z is both fun and entertaining all the way through and has been my favorite this semester
Professor Zaldivar's class was great. There is an essay and a couple discussion posts due every week but you should do well in this course if you dedicate your time to do the assignments. I learned a lot in this course and definitely recommend taking it with professor Zaldivar.
Dr. Z is a passionate professor, This class is discussion based, and you will have fun with the debates. Overall this class is easy, BUT you must show up as attendance is graded. There are very few assignments, 10, for the entire semester. My only complaint is that it is really hard to move your grade because of the few assignments.
Prof Z. is chill as long as you make an honest effort.
Prof. Eugene is a funny person, his class was uplifting, and he managed to link what he talked about with philosophy, good class
Professor Zaldivar encourages discussion in every class. There is a paper assigned every week from the reading also assigned. Both attendance and class participation are factored into your grade so SHOW UP. While he's slow to grade, he grades fairly lenient.
Professor Z's PHI2010 class is engaging and manageable. The coursework is reasonable, and participation is key. I found Unstuck ai helpful for study prep, along with the readings. Overall, a solid class worth taking.
Great professor, he is hilarious and is always cracking jokes. Easy A , Participation - 20%, Critical Reading - 35%, Analytical Writing - 45%. Attendance won't drop your grade really at all. He is a very easy going professor.
Probably one of the easiest A's I'll have in college (he even said so himself). Only one assignment a week, and the two classes are talking about that assignment and sometimes other random stuff. Professor Z himself is a really nice guy, too! As long as you stay on top of your HW and participate even a little in class you'll do well
Take him. Cool professor. Ez & fun just do the work. 200-300 wrds/assignment. U read & ans questions. Midterm req'd blubk($1). U get a 0 if u don't do assignments leadin up to it. If u do assignments u get to choose b/t 2000 wrd paper on anythin or final. If u don't u do both. Attendance's graded. U can get xtra credit if class has perf attendance.
Class was decently easy, but waking up for his class was annoying as hell. Kind of an adult trying to fit in with the younger generation by cursing all the time, cringe. Really annoying about being tardy or absent. Would not take it again for the sole purpose of him just bringing up random topics and being overly corny during classes I payed for.
He was such an amazing professor! His lectures were so funny and he made intro to philosophy super easy to understand. I highly recommend him as a professor.
prof z is cool, at first i was annoyed going to his class but when you step back and look this class stressed me out the least, no way you'll actually fail, he does top about random things A LOTTTT, but like idc i did other hw or watched tiktok and he didn't care, just wait till he's done to listen, he's cool, i needed the credit, take the class
Good guy overall, he genuinely cares but the mandatory attendance gets annoying. Easy A as long as you do the assignments, he also takes late work and doesnt harm your grade too bad for it
By far the best professor I've had, Prof. Zaldivar was amazing. Willing to work with you. Easy grader... hard to fail the class. The only way you can fail is to literally not do your work. Make sure to engage, because participation is something he grades. Loved this class.
I can confidently say that this is one of the best professors I have ever had. His lectures are always amazing and engaging especially if you actually like Ethics. The homework was not difficult at all and he is very nice and passionate about what he does so I really enjoyed the entire semester with so much that I am taking him again next semester.
Really recommend for anyone looking for an easy humanities credit, assignments are easy however theres few assignments to get the grade up, so make sure to do all of them and attend class. As long as you do everything, you'll get an A.
Great Professor would take again. The lectures are very open, the hope is that the students will lead them by asking him questions about the reading material. Don't be shy and you'll be fine.
