Great teacher! She's really funny and makes the class very interesting. I hate missing class because of her sense of humor and the way she presents the material. If you read you will do well on tests.
This woman knows what she is talking about, but doesn't try to merely prove it to students. Her teaching style is clear and focused. Plus, we watched lots of movies!
Overall the class was very easy. She offers extra credit, the exams are multiple choice and not too hard, her lectures are entertaining and she shows a lot of videos.
mutilple choice tests are pretty straight forward, it can be hard if u dont pay attention to details. offers extra credit, but you must keep up with the reading and go to lecture. it's interesting material, and she's not too boring
I love this teacher! I never missed a day of class and her two hour sessions went really fast! She's really intertaining and loves what she does. The tests are fair and she gives a really good study guide. Take her if you can! She's awesome!
A GREAT class. Just make sure you know your stuff and do the extra credit and it's possibly to end up with an A. Make sure you know everything she puts on the study guides. Great professor.
Fun class!
she's a great teacher her lectures are very interesting and we watch fun videos her test are not that difficult as long as you go to lectures and do the readings.

the test is not so difficult and you can get a good great if you go to class and get good notes.
She clearly loves what she does and it shows. Her tests are straightfoward and fair, her study guides comprehensive, and her lectures is interesting and informative. You watch many video segments, and she doesn't mind answering questions so long as class isn't too far behind.
Professor Schepeler is an excellent teacher. She knows what she is talking about and is very helpful if you have any questions. Study for the test though.
She's a really funny lady and her stories are great. Lecture is really important but so is reading the book. Tests are very detailed and you have to know the study guides. Lots of videos and interesting subject matter. One of my favorite classes by far!
Ezy to pass with C by attending class. To get an A you have to work for it which means read the book.Unfortunately there are 16 long chapters.Overall she is nice, sweet and kind. She is also funny which keeps the class awake. However 300 students at young 198 can be so crowded w/ tiny desks.
AWESOME TEACHER! go to lecture, because the material is all very interesting. her tests aren't too bad at all. the questions are based off of a detailed study guide.
Professor Schepeler is VERY open minded even if you ask her really off the wall questions. Her class was by far one of the most interesting classes I've had and her stories are great. Too bad she doesnt' do reasearch at the University, otherwise I'd love to be an assistant for her.
She has a great sense of humor, and she made the class much more interesting than it would have been otherwise. Tests are fair.
She is a great professor! I loved her stories, they are relevant to the material and make it easier to understand and remember so go to class! She is fun.
one of my favorite classes. I actually enjoyed going to class. Very funny, extremaly nice, and very good proff. GO TO CLASS. lecture notes are all you need for test but the book will help you clear any quetions. Only two quetions about the novel. not necessary to read the novel.
All I have to say is... this teacher makes class EXCITING! She is always willing to awswer questions with amusement. Additionally, she teaches very well. Just make sure you STUDY for the exams and you'll be fine.
She knows what she teaches and makes it interesting and easy to follow for the class. I have really enjoyed being in her class and I have actually enjoyed learning the material!
Highly recommended. Class is a must! It isn't a drag to go either because Prof. Schepeler teaches well, has great humor, very helpful, loves to teach and always wants to pass her students!
Great lecturer with real-world experience in subject matter. Very interesting material and fairly easy if you take good notes and read the book. She even offers extra credit, highly recommend.
Professor Schepeler is one cool lady. She knows what she's talking about and makes the stuff really interesting. You'd actually WANT to go to class. THUMBS UP.
She is FANTASTIC lecture. Test aren't too hard but on the final I thought she got a bit too specific. Study notes, and read! No doubt, a dynamic lecturer!
One of the best professors in Davis. Definitely recommend her to anyone. Very enthusiastic about the subject. Shows interesting videos and gives us examples of her own life experiences. Exams are kinda tricky at times, but she curves and gives students a chance for extra credit.
Dynamic and captivating lecturer. Dr. Shepeler is a star of a teacher. Her tests are not easy, but the lectures are so full of great info that you don't want them to end.
make sure you study for the exams and try to skim over the textbook, because some questions do come from there. also, reading the novel really isn't necessary, but it does help, and plus it is interesting. this professor is AWESOME. she is VERY hardworking and kind. she's also very easy to get in touch with. GREAT CLASS!!! Loved it.
Incredible teacher, exciting lecturer and very clear on what is expected. Some questions on the test are detailed, but easy easy to decipher. The best teacher I've had so far.
Her lectures are extremely interesting and at times very entertaining because she can make really funny comments. She is a practicing clinical psychologist, so she uses real life examples. Tests can be a bit hard, but they are curved, so if you go to lecture you'll be fine.
Awesome lecturer. Gives great examples, shows video clips, and tells great stories. Easy note taking, as she puts all important info on the overhead. Tests can be a little tough but going to class and some brief reading is all you need. She even gives a study guide for each test. Write the easy XC paper to get the grade you want!!
Very entertaining, great stories about her wacky family!
Good overall class with a very fun teacher! Just make sure you study for her tests because they aren't THAT easy LOL

Seems easy but can be tricky if you don't really know your stuff. Write the XC paper to boost your grade.

Not a hard class, just an abundance of information and the information is super interesting!
Wonderful amazing, highly recommended. She is a captivating lecturer, shows videos that compliment her notes and that are very entertaining. Just make sure to read the book and attend lectures, you will be set and have met one of the best and funniest teachers at UCD.
An excellent teacher. However, expect a lot of work if you want to pull an "A" in the class. You need to do the readings (since most of her questions will come from book material). She offers a considerable amount of extra credit by writing an easily graded 6 page paper. She likes showing videos regularly. Very approachable with questions.
Very good professor, one of the best at UCD, I learned a lot from her. Everything she teaches is interesting and I would actually want to go to class everyday. Her tests are a little difficult though so you have to study and put time in. Regardless this is a class I would definatly recommend
Very, very clear and informative lectures, even though they are long. Funny and nice, breaks up the tediousness by showing videos. Tests are a bit hard, but the information is so interesting, you'll want to learn it anyway. Highly recommended.
Excellent teacher! Anyone interested in psychology should take this class. She covers a lot of material and expects you to know details for the test, but the hard work is worth it. She is the best and I think every psychology student at UCD should have to take this class from her!
Great professor? Funny? No! I, for one, dislike her because she can never stop talking. And because she talks so much, it makes it difficult to catch what is important, and what isnt. Abnormal Psychology should be interesting. She makes it extremely and irritably boring by showing us video clips FROM THE early 80s!! And her exams? One word: hard.
tests are pretty hard, but she and her teaching style are just AMAZING. she is so hilarious and makes such funny comments, it really keeps the long lecture moving and entertaining!!
She's an interesting and funny professor who makes an effort to help students truly understand the material.
her tests are way way way detailed, so when you study study carefully, but she offers an easy Ex. credit paper that significantly boosts your grade, her lectures are hard to follow cause she talks a lot i focused on studying the book along with her transparencies and was able to get an A, i recommend her
She's fairly interesting to listen to, though her videos and teaching formats (using a projecter and 80s videos) are a bit old. Schepeler is very nice, and can be humourous at times. She requires 3 examinations that I found to be tricky and often confusing, but because everyone else in the class does just as badly so the curve is beneficial.
TESTS ARE HARD!!! Her test are way too detailed, must read the book and the margins. schepeler is a great professor. very entertaining lectures although it is very long so it can get a little tiring. she offers extra-credit so DO IT. highly recommended.
She makes it interesting to be insane.
Liked the class. The book is interesting, but also gets extremely boring. She's funny and pretty fair. If you try, you can get a B in her class. If you try real hard, you can get an A. Read her assigned chapters and go to class. She is pretty ****ed and likes to talk about masturbating and tips to prevent premature ejaculation.
Great class--extremely interesting lectures with pertinent videos (even though she does show a lot of them). I thought the course was pretty easy--just read the book thoroughly and pay attention in lecture.
Easiest class ever. I serioulsy only attended the first day of class and I got an A-. Her study guides are so helpful. Just study off those and your golden.
I thought this was an easy class and got an A from reading the text and not paying attention in class. For each midterm she pulls like one or two things from lecture that you might not read in the book, so no biggie. She tends to ramble on about a certain topic forever which gets really boring, and she likes to talk about masturbation randomly
She was awesome. Entertaining, knowledgeable, compassionate. Well-organized and extensive knowledge on the subject. Well worth the evening hours.
Easiest psych class I have ever taken. She tells you what to study. I went to class 5 times and got an A-. Seriosuly you have to be a moron to do badly. Take this class its an easy A. Also she is a really nice Proff one of the best and she offers extra credit.
I did not think this class was easy. The tests are extremely specific. You can attend class and read the book, and she still has a really big curve because people don't do well. I would recommend taking it with the other professor who teaches this class.
a very funny professor, class very enjoyable if you can connect to the material she's teaching (ALL on mental illness), if not like me, her ranting could sometimes makes you sleepy; she tests ALL on the book, so you can even skip lecture and just memorize the book and you'll get an A, but if you are an auditory learner like me, it's VERY hard
By far the most interesting course I've taken so far at Davis. Very fair, HIGHLY interesting. She frequently shows videos in class, no need to pay attention to them, they won't be on the test. Study the study guides- they tell you exactly what will be on the tests! Do the extra credit, it's easy and she gives you full points. Any ?'s email me.
This course was somewhat challenging, but insanely interesting. Eva Schepeler is very keen on her subject and is a very animated lecturer. She's hilarious and SO GERMAN. I mean, seriously, she uses her VW keychain as a pointer on her slides. Don't worry, her accent isn't a problem at all-- just very entertaining. Take this course with her. Trust me
My favorite psych class by far. She's interesting and has a passion for her subject. She did a lot of clinical work/research and knows her stuff. For a 6-8pm class it was not hard to stay awake and was worth it. She gives you study guides that are useful for the tests. Extra credit book report. I finished all tests in 20min by using study guides.
She was great! Classes were pretty interesting and she was pretty funny. TESTS WERE STRAIGHT FROM THE TEXT! You have to read the text. She had super detailed tests. 3 all multiple choice all weighted the same. This includes the final. She has a really fun german accent, but it doesn't interfere with the lecture.
She was a really good teacher, very interesting and funny! She managed to keep my attention for a two hour class (hard to do). She shows a lot of videos for the second half of class, so it's not a big deal if you leave at break. Make sure to do the extra credit paper!!! All her tests were very specific--concentrating on the DSM IV criteria
BEST TEACHER EVER. her class is fun, interesting, informative, you learn a lot, shes really on top of her material, is really organized, only down side is you have to read the text to get A's on test. do EC
The material is really interesting. She does not really help with prep for exams. There are no quizzes, no practice exams, no prep at all. It is basically lecture and the three midterms. She gives like 7-8 chapters to study for each midterm and expects you to know ALL THE DETAILS so you should develop a smart studying technique from the beginning.
AMAZING professor. possibly my favorite at UCD. Lectures are clear and interesting, and her exams are very detailed. You're expected to learn a lot and know the details on the exams, but if you study they're not hard. Such a cool class- I HIGHLY recommend it.
I LOVED her. My favorite class at Davis. So interesting! I didn't have to read too much because I listened so intently in lecture because she's so interesting and has such good stories and explanations. I don't remember her talking about masturbation as much as everyone else seems to...
My favorite professor! She was a great lecturer, kept everyone engaged, was exciting and animated. You can tell she's really passionate about what she teaches and in turn she makes you love the subject also! Probably the only class ever that I stayed awake throughout the whole class (2hrs!).
The best professor I've had so far in UCD! Dr. Schepeler is very passionate and fun during her lecturs, and she's very motivated to help her students, in and outside of class. A very inspiring person, a great professor model in the education profession!!
My favorite professor and class so far, in Davis. Her lectures are rarely boring--she's always lively. A lot of interesting topics, and videos during lectures. Always has a study guide for midterms--they really help. Awesome prof. This class, is a MUST.
She prints outlines for you, and sticks to them almost exactly, so it's not a big deal if you miss class cause you can read the outlines and fill yourself in with the book. But her lectures are always witty and clever, and she includes fun comics and videos. She's a fun German lady for sure!
She is such a lively teacher! There is a lot of material but the tests are easy if you listen to what she mainly focuses on. She uses her personal experiences to liven up the class and her slight german accent adds to her humor. You can easily relate the class to your friends, family and even yourself!
Dr. S knows her stuff. She has a very large background in clinical psych, which is refreshing for a Davis prof who is usually research based. Very nice, very approachable, and very funny. She lays out EXACTLY what you need to learn for an A on the midterms, and offered a slight grade bump extra credit (B+ to A- type).
Schepeler is one of the best teachers ever! The MW night classes are kind of unappealing, but I never missed a lecture because Dr. S is such a great teacher. Used the book for clarification, and DO the extra credit book report!
This class was great. She is a great lecturer and is very clear on every topic in the class. She adds humor and personal experience to every lecture as well as helpful videos. Her tests are fair and somewhat detailed to her lectures and the book. Use her HINTs and DO EXTRA CREDIT. Grading is slightly curved in your favor.
Best class I've taken at Davis. It was so interesting and Schepeler is a GREAT prof! Lectures are energetic and easy to understand. Study guides were provided for midterms/final so studying was a breeze. Really great course!
She has outlines prepared for lectures and textbook reading is a must! Attending lectures is not really necessary to pass the class, but you should go b/c she shows videos and has bit of humor. To get and A in this class, I suggest doing the reading, following the outlines and her study guides and going to lecture.
Great professor! Really interesting material and the paper was easy. Very helpful and interesting class. Tests are somewhat detailed but just memorize her notes and you will get at least a B!
AMAZING TEACHER!! Her class is soo interesting and she has lots of stories from her clinical experience to relate to her teaching. She's super funny and gives you study guides with EVERYTHING that's on the test, with page numbers. Take her!!!
Really interesting subject and really interesting professor. Attending class not really necessary but lectures are interesting. Detailed reading is a MUST and the chapters are kind of long. Lots of detailed memorization but overall really interesting so its worth it.
She's a great professor! She's really funny, organized, and clear, although kinda fast but that's cuz there are so many materials to cover in abnormal psychology....I know she only teaches MW 6-8pm but it's worth it!!! Her tests are not that hard, if you study and follow her study guides you will do fine. Plus there's extra credit :)
She is the best teacher at Davis! She's funny, helpful and her TA this quarter was HOT! Plus extra credit and she shows interesting movies and videos! Take this class!!!!
She is the best professor at davis. Her lectures are informative, and interesting because of her videos. She is very approachable and funny. Tests sort of hard but she gives you a great study guide which really helps. If you take abnormal, TAKE HER!!!!!!
The best prof I've had so far at UCD. I loved attending her class and she was super helpful during office hours. Highly recommended :)
This teacher requires you to know a lot of details for her exams, answers choices are a-e. lectures are pointless but you must know the abnormal behaviors very well if you want an A. There is a curve which helps but reading and studying the lecture slides at least a week is a must if you want to do well. My advice, find someone else
To agree with what everyone else said, the woman is a genius. She is the best professor I've had so far at Davis. The tests do require you to know a lot of details, but basically study really hard what is an overlap between lecture and the book. Her lectures are amazing, and her stories are even better. She's hilarious as well!
Professor Schepeler is fabulous and made this class interesting! She gives lecture notes prior to class. Her tests are detailed but easy if you study the lecture notes and read the book. She also gives an extremely detailed study guide! I definitely recommend taking this class!
She is the best professor at Davis and is extremely knowledgeable! I would definitely take another class with her! Plus, there's a 10 point extra credit paper that will boost your grade a lot!
Highly recommended. :)
Very interesting class. Her tests are pretty much a test on her lecture material. However, it really helps to read the book ahead of time to get the concepts- and mainly the underlined words memorized. I seriously don't know how people got C's in this class...
Dr. Schepeler is hands down the best professor I have had at Davis. Her lecture is the only one that I never miss - I look forward to it. There is a lot of detailed material, but the exams are doable if you study. Class is a good mix of lecture, power point, video, and there's never a dull moment. Wish I had room to write more. Highly recommended!
She is great! She gives a study guide, which tells you exactly what you need to know/memorize, and what not. Lectures are interesting because she talks about real life patients from her work as a Clinical Psychologist. If you have specific questions about your friends/family, email her, and she is very informative.
Very engaging lectures! I love how she has so much energy and keeps us on our toes. She clearly knows the subject very well and she brings her own personal experience to the table. The textbook is also awesome, and I'm keeping it for future reference.
Awesome, fun professor! Must take her.
Her exams are 60 multiple choice questions. There is a lot of information and memorization involved but she lets you write a paper for extra credit. 1 book for outside reading required - very interesting. She is funny and holds interest during lectures. I highly recomend this course
Awesome teacher. Her lectures were always really interesting and she always managed to make a joke out of most of them. She has 3 midterms and and extra credit paper that really boosts your grade. Highly recommended
3 tests that are 60qs make up your grade. Do the ex credit paper, it'll boost your grade. Memorize all the info on lecture notes and DSM criteria for each disorder. Also be familiar with all the terms and italicized words in the text. This is not the most interesting class unless you really like abnormal psc.
For a class that's usually at 6-8pm, she knows how to keep you awake. I sat in the front and found her lectures engaging most of the time. Memorize everything and you should do fine. Do the EC paper. I only looked at and memorized the sections of the textbook that she had on the study guides - didn't bother reading the chapters (still got an A+).
I LOVE DR. SCHEPELER! She really has been my best professor so far. The class is really interesting and the tests are super easy, or at least for me they were. I studied the day of each midterm and got A's on all three, but then again i went to every class and paid close attention. Study lecture notes and hints...and you should be fine
So glad I decided to take this class! Tests are detailed but manageable if you study the notes and certain parts of the book (this is coming from someone who sucks at multiple choice!)Lectures are really interesting, the EC is cake. You will find yourself learning so much. Overall, one of the best classes I took at UCD! Take it!!
Dr. Schepeler is an amazing lecturer. She makes even the met redundant information enjoyable and is extremely helpful.
There's a lot of mixed reviews on Schepeler. I think the majority of the negative reviews are those who don't attend lecture. If you do, like I did, and write all the small details on the print-out notes, and do the XC you'll get an A.I got an A+ without using the study guide on 2 of the tests. Just take good notes and know them. AND DO THE PAPER!
Dr. Schepeler is very knowledgeable. The class itself is very interesting. DO THE PAPER & read the book. She puts questions about the readings. Her midterms/final aren't impossible, but if you study for at least a couple of nights, you'll do fine.
Dr. Schepeler is an entertaining teacher! This course is super interesting if you're a psych major. Focus on the study guides more than trying to read the whole book. DO read the margins & vocab in the book but focus more on lecture notes. Deff do the extra credit (it's really not that hard). Go to class & take notes & u should be fine. Best class!
Fantastic class if you are a psychology major (might be a bit difficult if not.) Interesting topics, prof. is very clear, has a sense of humor, and textbook is well written. Cons: must study a lot for tests (2 plus a final) they are difficult, but nothing impossible. She teaches you well, so you don't have to learn things yourself. I recommend it!
She's a very funny and knowlegeable professor! she knows how to crack jokes along teaching the material. she's very competent and clear on her expectations for what we should know for the exams. She offers one extra credit paper, definitely do it will help boost your grade.
Wonderfully witty and helpful professor who cares for her students. Very interesting and engaging class if you're a psych major but might be difficult if you're a non major. Shows video clips every lecture (test questions so pay attention!). Fair to somewhat difficult tests but extra credit paper WILL boost your grade so do it. Great class and prof
She clearly knows what she is talking about. Her tests are a little bit hard however, you will do well as long as you take good notes in lectures and from the textbook. She has a few tricky questions on tests but if you know the material well you'll identify them. Lectures are very entertaining and she offers extra credit which is fairly easy to do! There is no way you can fail this class unless, you don't do any of the above.
She is really funny, in kind of a weird way. She really cares about her students! For class you will need to read the chapters, however she does give you a study guide to help you with reading them. She sometimes goes on tangents but they're the interesting kind that you will enjoy. Test all multiple choice, curved. Opportunity for extra credit.
I loved Eva! Delightfully eccentric and enthusiastic, she made going to night class a little more bearable. Lecture notes are pretty straightforward; just study them and read the book for extra details and you should do just fine. She even tells you what parts of the book to focus on and what to gloss over. Also gives us tons of internship links!
Really interesting class and passionate teacher! You really need to do the reading and go to class to do well. I thought I was going to do really bad but studied really hard and did the extra credit and got a solid B, so I was happy! GREAT CLASS!
Very intelligent and knows abnormal psych well. Make sure you go to class and memorize the notes for exams. Extremely helpful and intelligent professor.
Schepeler is awesome! She's got a great sense of humor and an adorable German accent. She knows a lot about the subject because of her work in clinical psychology. She even uses real clients for examples. Sucks her class is so late at night but she makes it bearable. Tests are moderately hard; make sure to go to class and read the book!
Her lectures are pretty interesting and she is really helpful. The tests are not very hard as long as you review the notes a few times and do the reading. I enjoyed the class a lot.
soooo funny and awesome! She has the whole class, all 300, laughing with her lectures. If you need to take any courses she teaches, you should!
she's an awesome professor! very funny, makes lecture interesting. her exams are fairly easy and you don't really need to read the book. everything is in her notes and she goes straight off of them. I recommend taking her!
3 exams,1 final and can drop one.1 easy paper about a book you've read for 10 extra credit pts (option).Very interesting,no need to show up to all classes but I did because I wanted to.Very clear on lectures.TAKE,TAKE,TAKE HER!!
Although originally from Germany, she is very easy to understand. Her lectures are clear and informative, but are direct copies of her outlines provided on Smartsite. You HAVE to read the book to do well on the test. She curves a lot and gives an extra-credit assignment that is easy. Enjoyed it very much! I got an 82 and it was a B+
Awesome professor! Tests and difficult, but if you study her notes it isn't hard to get an A. Plus she offers an extra credit paper. She's very knowledgeable in the field and can answer all of your questions. If you have an option, take 168 with this professor!
Amazing professor!!! Highly recommended!!!!
Really interesting class and a great lecturer. The 2 hour class length is a bit long for me but I really liked learning about this topic. Tests are not challenging, but u DO need to know the lecture notes well. Going to class helps to clarify the vague notes she gives you ahead of time but u can miss class without too much worry. Take this teacher!
Her lectures are really funny, and she has a kind of obsession with cats. Her slides are helpful, but make sure to print the study guides before class and have at least a short reading of the book before exams. Great class, super interesting matter and awesome teacher!
This is by far one of my favorite classes taken so far. Her tests are long and you need to know a lot of detail. I rarely got bored. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT PAPER! The paper is easy and raises your grade a lot.
Professor Schepeler is one of my favorite professors at Davis, she is really into the material and even though its a late class she will keep you awake! study details from the book and do the extra credit paper.
No point of repeating the same comments. Class is one of the most straight forward I've had. Three MC tests and an extra credit paper (worth a lot). If you get lower than a B, you either didn't do any reading/lectures or, simply put, college is not for you. One of my top 5 classes at UCD.
Shes a really nice lady and her lectures are entertaining enough to keep you from skipping them. The tests come straight from the lectures and she doesn't try to trick you, she just wants to know if you are keeping up with the class
Make sure to know her notes really well. I didn't read the book entirely. I only used to the study guide as tool to know which sections to read. I was really into this kind of stuff and enjoyed it. I got a 52/60,52/60 and 51/60 on her exams which averages out to a B+ but ended up getting an A thanks to EC. Do the EC because it clearly helps a lot!
She is a very fair and sweet professor. Willing to help students succeed and offers a very helpful extra credit paper (Easy). Tests are fair, composes of a lot of random details. Content itself is easy, test questions are tricky. Lecture outlines are essential. Love her stories about her clinical patients
Dr. Schepeler is one of the best professors at Davis. Her class is very interesting and she lectures well. Her class is more than fair and she really wants you to do well. She's funny and makes lectures enjoyable to listen to. Only downside is that her class is pretty late in the evening, but otherwise I definitely recommend this class.
She is super sweet and funny and her German accent is so cute. The class is very interesting but the midterms are strictly memorization. There is a lot of information about each disorder and it can be a little overwhelming at times, but it's definitely doable.
This professor is super helpful and responds to emails in minutes. That being said, if you're not good at memorization don't take this class. Heavily based on lecture notes and book. Lots of reading. Test are tricky. Confusing at times due to the amount of material each day. But go to office hours. But super sweet professor. Also Best TA ever
Really interesting class, but you must put the time in to read the textbook and memorize a bunch of information. Tests can be tricky but not too bad if you do your part and study. The extra credit paper is easy and helps A LOT!!
She is a great teacher. I never fall asleep in her class. She is really funny and enthusiastic. She is always ready to help you and replies to emails really fast. Just to let you guys know, this is NOT an easy class. Her tests consists of random detail. So basically you have to read book and her notes very careful. This class is about memorization.
Dr. Schepeler is an enthusiastic professor. Her lectures are interesting and she a good sense of humor. The tests are a bit tricky as she covers a lot of information, but I did enjoy her class. I was thankful for the extra credit opportunity.
Dr. Schepeler is an engaging, enthusiastic professor who really knows her stuff. Her lectures are very interesting and she has a great sense of humor. Tests are tricky as she covers a lot of material. Enjoyed the class.
Eva is one of the best professors at UCD. I would HIGHLY recommend taking her class! Also, the TA Andrew is fantastic. Responds to emails quickly and always willing to help.
Adorable little German lady. Fantastic and clear lectures with lots of videos to show mental illness in real people. Tests are on the tricker side. There are a lot of specific details so you need to know the lecture outlines backwards and forwards. Never read and had no problems. Pay attention and study lecture outlines! Not hard to get an A.
TAKE HER!! Great German lady with a noticeable accent. You can get a BB+ easily, A's aren't hard in the class if you work on a study guide with everyone via google docs. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT, IT HELPS YOUR GRADE SO MUCH and makes the A even easier to get. Curves tests which help alot. She responds to emails rapidly in case you have questions.
Loved this class. Very straightforward when it comes to what you need to know about different disorders. It is necessary to do the readings and review the lecture slides to get a clear picture, but as long as you do you should have no problem earning an A. Lecture is incredibly interesting as well because Schepeler always provides great examples.
I did not go to class and self studied from the book and slides. Ended up getting a B+. Going to class would have helped for sure. So go to class and study her lecture slides.
Eva is so awesome, I really wish she taught a bunch of other PSC classes at UCD but unfortunately, she doesn't :( She is compassionate, she is a student advocate (sends us PSC-related helpful emails regarding grad school, workshops, internships, & professional opportunities), and she knows the material extremely wellcan answer any qs. Best at UCD!
Two MT's and a final. The exam were really specific. If you have never taken Abnormal Psych before this class will be hard. Dr. Schepeler is a great lecturer, funny, and clear. Her TA, Felix, is also smart and helpful. The second MT is the hardest. I strongly recommend studying with a group for this class. The EC is a six page paper on two books.
She was passionate and well-informed about the material
Great Professor and lecturer! Interesting class but contains a lot of information. Exams are easy if you remember almost everything from lectures. Long lectures and again, a lot of information to remember! This was the first Psyc class that was challenging to me and I am a Psyc major graduating next quarter.
Best lesson plan and book I have come across thus far. Read the book take the test format (or go to lecture). Clear tests that correspond well with covered material. Three equal non-cumulative tests, plus a 6 page extra credit paper (easy to get credit). Interesting lectures, really nice professor.
She knows a lot about what she's talking about and her lectures are interesting for this reason. Although You don't really need to go to them because she doesn't really say anything that's not on the outlines.
Professor Schepeler is AMAZING. Her lectures are SO fun and interesting. She did not curve the class when I took her, but I still manage to get an A without the curve. I admit, there is A LOT of information that you need to study for each midterm, so you do have to put time into this class if you want an A. I wish she teaches other classes :(.
Interesting class but very dense (must know prevalence, course, onset, symptoms, criteria etc. for each disorder) All of my study guides were about 50 pages. Since there is a lot of material to go through during the 2 hour period she won't take questions. she offers 10pts extra credit which helps. Test are very specific. Not and "easy A"
She's a good lecturer-and gives an extra credit option! This class is easy if you have PREVIOUS knowledge regarding abnormal psych. If you go in completely blind-this course is just as tough as any other upper-div course-so don't be fooled by all the "easy A" posts. Overall guaranteed B, A depends on your experience with psych.
Her stories about her own experiences are helpful and interesting. Shows videos in class which should not be skipped. Easy class if you like the subject. If you read the textbook you will get an A.
One of the best professors I've had in college! She's funny, she draws a lot from her own experience as a psychologist, covers a lot of material but always makes it interesting and entertaining. I couldn't have asked for a better for this class. If you have to wait til the next quarter to pick her over the other guy do it, it's worth it.
She's this cute little German lady that bounces around while she lectures. Her lectures are very interesting, and the way she talks about her career is inspiring.
Amazing professor, interesting lectures and an overall wonderful class. Also, she gives helpful study hints and lecture outlines so it is extremely hard not to get an A. Definitely recommend this class and her as a professor!
Amazing class! She is a German lady who has had tons of experience and a lot to teach besides what is on her PPs. She adds in a lot so attending class is mandatory if you want to pass the tests. Heavy material so reading book is a must for certain chapters. She is fair and offers an EC paper that can raise grade by a letter! I really enjoyed it
Dr. Schepeler is phenomenal. She really knows her stuff and her lectures are fun to attend because she has so much to teach. She also sends funny/cute/interesting comics with all her emails so it's a no brainer that you HAVE to take abnormal psychology with Dr. Schepeler!!!!
She is fun to listen to and sends great research opportunities to her students. Her class is not an easy A, you have to attend class for a good grade. She has two midterms, an extra credit book report and a final. Her lectures aren't podcasted and her lecture outlines are not good enough to use alone
Funny and great lecturer. 3 exams, one paper for extra credit (brought my grade up a whole letter). Study your notes and read the textbook and you'll be fine.
She was awesome, take her! 3 exams and an extra credit paper. Brought my grade up from an A to A+. Test questions from textbook, but not much. Go to class, I recorded the lectures because she doesn't podcasts and they helped. Most stuff directly from notes she provides but there are questions that come directly from lecture not covered in notes.
Cool lady! She is really nice and accessible, but still sets her expectations. Avoid getting on her bad side! Class grade is heavily based on the three midterms and one extra credit paper. Exams are very detailed and not cake. You will need to drain the book and pay detailed attention in class to master the A. Lots of Info to memorize! :)
Vague understanding won't help you, it's just rote memorization. Her lectures are mostly additional information but her tests are more specific. She wants you to be able to tell whether agitation or insomnia are traits of schizophrenia (eg). You just have to memorize. Two midterms, a final, and an extra credit paper are all she grades you on.
Doctor Schepeler is an incredible professor, the way she makes a subject that may seem boring so fun and engaging is beyond me. This class is no easy A, paying attention to lecture notes and reading the book is required. Definitely do the extra credit paper, it helped bring me up from a B- to an A. Highly recommend the class, but prepare to work.
Pretty good professor. Lectures are largely summarizing textbook content without a lot of depth or new material. She provides lecture outlines and hints for each exam which are very helpful. If you put in the effort and study, you will easily get an A in the class.
She's a great prof. The lectures are super interesting and the tests are fair. She flies through the PowerPoint slides though! I didn't read the textbook chapters, I just read the "summing it up" pages at the end of each chapter that reviews the whole chapter's info. Do the extra credit paper! It is worth 10 points!
Wow, she is amazing! This was by far the most interesting class I have taken and its because of her lectures- they are NEVER boring and she's so entertaining. She teaches with such enthusiasm and passion. You will be prepared for her exams by studying her lecture outlines. She doesn't podcast so you must go to lec! She offers 10 points e.c :)
This class was one of the most interesting classes I've taken. Tests are pretty clear cut if you study her lecture outlines and do the readings. Definitely recommend going to as many lectures as possible and reading book. She really cares a lot and gives great opportunities for those interested in the psychology field.
Dr. Schepeler makes abnormal psychology even more interesting. Many in-class videos and interesting examples used. Tests are fairly tough and studying for the tests takes hours upon hours of reading through the textbook and lecture notes. Definitely do the extra credit paper!
I LOVED this class. I was afraid to take this class because of the mixed reviews but if you are interested into going into clinical psychology- Take it! I passed with an A+ (easy exams if you just look over notes, go to class & do the extra credit paper) I would take this class or any class with Dr. Schepeler.
I loved taking abnormal psych with her. She's funny and makes lecture enjoyable. tests are very specific and there are a lot of details you need to know for each disorder. Highly recommend reading the book and the examples of disorders they provide because most test questions are situational. Gives outlines before each test of what you should know.
Professor Schepheler is the BEST professor I have had at this university. She is extremely helpful and caring. She will go out of her way to help you. You do need to study for her test, but they are very fair and she gives you "exam hints" before each exam. Plus! She sends cute little cartoons with each email ^_^
This is a great class, especially if you're truly interested in abnormal/clinical psychology. She shares a lot of resources related to clinical psychology also, like tips for how to get into grad school and internships and stuff. You REALLY should do the EC paper - I didn't because I was very sick, but it would've bumped me a letter grade.
She's a great professor and I really enjoyed her class. As long as you study both the textbook and her lecture slides, you'll be fine. Her extra credit assignment gives you up to 10% extra credit. Her instructions for the extra credit are very clear and she gives you a lot of time to get it right. Would definitely recommend.
She is a wonderful lecturer and professor. The exams can be a bit tricky at times as you're expected to memorize a lot of key details, but I absolutely love coming to lecture. She's engaging, thoughtful, and thoroughly enjoys teaching. She makes class fun and will sometimes tell stories to help ingrain certain concepts that are especially important
Amazing teacher! I really enjoyed going to class, but you really have to understand the lectures for the exams, even the little details... otherwise you will not pass. However, the professor is funny and tries to make class interesting.
Eva had great lectures and did her best to make the class interesting, really happy with the class overall!
Alright so I registered for this class thinking that based off of ALL the other reviews she was gonna be easy. She is not easy at all. Tests are based off of her lecture slides which are EXTREMELY dense, based off of numbers like percentages, and the questions on tests are situational versus definitions so memory will not help.
great class for a future psychotherapist. Dr. schepeler lends wonderful lectures and anecdotes. she is engaging and fun. exams are straight forward and fair AND she gives an extra credit book report project that can bump you up a whole letter grade.
Her lectures are awesome!! She has an extra credit paper that bumps you up a letter grade. Listen to lecture and take good notes you will pass the exam!!!! You dont really need the book!!
Super funny and nice professor. Outlines exactly what you need to study for exams and gives you an extra credit paper that can boost you up a whole letter grade. Professor Schepeler always sends out funny cartoons and interesting and helpful material. Would recommend taking this class 100%.
Dr. Schepeler is hilarious. Ab Psych is a really fascinating subject and she makes learning about it fun and interesting. She emails out super helpful information about disorders, mental health, job opportunities, and grad school advice and info. Amazing professor- wish all my classes were with her.
Shes an awesome lecturer. Shes very knowledgeable and the content is very interesting. She gives clear study guides for exams and an extra credit paper that can boost your grade dramatically. Best class Ive taken here at Davis. Wonderful instructor. .
I found lectures to be boring but necessary! She is the SWEETEST lady ever, and she genuinely cares about students' wellbeing. Super easy course and reading is not necessary. I showed up to lectures and studied lecture notes and her exam hints the night before exams and got an A. Used textbook only if her exam hints told us to read certain pages.
Dr. Schepeler is very knowledgeable and has many experiences in the field, but I was not a huge fan of her lecturing style. She jumps around, rambles, and comes across unclear and insensitive. Tests were harder than expected, memorize the lecture outlines (including stats!), and you'll do great. Also do the extra credit paper! Raised my grade by 7%
Loved Dr. Schepeler's class! She has a ton of background in the clinical field and includes that information in lectures to make them more interesting and applicable. Grading is clear, tests are fair, but you need to do the work. She's available to answer questions, genuinely cares about students, and provides resources for clinical opportunities.
She's is a good professor and the material isn't hard. At the same time, it's definitely not necessary to go to class for a few reasons. 1. she just reads from her lecture outlines and 2. she perpetuates mental health stigma and is insensitive when talking about a lot of the disorders. Class was structured to memorize diagnostic criteria.
She reads from lecture outlines and only gives examples in lecture, so not too necessary to go to class. But she can be insensitive when teaching about mental health disorders. I felt alienated and gross when we talked about personality disorders (having bpd myself). Extra credit is nice.
Dr. Schepeler is incredible. Her lectures are interesting and easy to follow. The best way to take notes is to print out her lectures and add to them in class. 2 midterms, 1 final, and 1 paper for extra credit (which is 10 points). I didn't think she was insensitive to mental disorders, I think she was factual. Amazing professor, highly recommend.
I really liked PSC 168 with her. It was a good class and a learned A LOT. Tests are a lot of information but it is doable. She offered 10 points of extra credit which really helps your grade out. Not the most approachable person during office hours but she is really knowledgeable.
Very interesting in class. Tells stories from her experiences and really helps with understanding materials and mental disorders in reality. Easy earned extra credit and the study guide is extremely helpful (it tells you what will be in the test!) I did not read it for my first exam and found out that almost all the key parts are on there.
IF UR READING THIS please take abnormal psychology with this beautiful woman. Probably one of my favorite professors I've ever taken here at Davis. She is such a kind lady, keeps lectures engaging, and really cares about her students. 3 midterms (all equal weight)and one optional extra credit opportunity that boosted me from an 85 to 90. AMAZING!
This professor gives 3 midterms. Multi choice. 1 extra credit paper (that i recommend you do because it really helps with the over grade.) she is very funny and lecture is super interesting and engaging. I would take this class again.
There's 3 exams and an extra credit paper (DO IT! ITS A BOOK REPORT AND ITS SUPER EASY)! The tests aren't hard, just lots of memorizing! Make study guides from lecture outlines she provides and you'll be fine. You don't have to read the entire textbook bc she gives hints that tell you what info to know from the text. Def recommend this class!
She is an awesome and great professor you have 3 exams and offers 1 extra credit paper which is easy her outlines tell you everything which helps for understanding the material for exams if you do not study alot make sure to do the extra credit that is what saved me! lol but I recommend her because she is funny, caring, and good professor.
Professor Schepeler is absolutely a gem. 3 MT (including final), 60 MC questions. No tricks on the exams. All I did was study the lecture outlines and create flashcards. Also read the exam hints and summaries at the end of each chapter. You could skip lecture as long as you go over outlines. Easy extra credit that boosts grade 10%!
Probably the easiest class you will ever take for your psych degree! You don't even need to attend class, the tests are pulled straight out of the lecture outlines and some from the book. Even though you don't have to go, you will want to! Coming to her evening class is like going to grandma's house after a long day. All you need are some cookies!
One of the best professors you will ever have at Davis! There are 3 exams worth 60 points each and an extra credit paper of up to 10 points. Study lecture outlines and watch the videos she sends you!
Her class was really interesting and she was really engaging which I really enjoyed. Her class grade is based on only two midterms, a final, and an extra credit paper. Her tests are not that hard as long as you study. Her class does have a lot of memorization but you'll survive. I recommend you do the extra credit paper it can bring you up 10% !!
A special time for an online class, 9 exams and drop lowest 3 for the final score. No other assignments. Do extra credit paper for sure, make sure you get A. Pay attention to the lecture and video she was sent to the student. Fun professor with abnormal cases. Ask questions if you got confused.
Dr. Schepeler is very knowledgeable and passionate. I enjoyed her lectures, even in the online setting. Very fair grading in the tests and lots of opportunities to gain points and succeed. Lectures are extremely interesting!!!
Great professor! Posts lecture notes online. I showed up to maybe 30% of lectures and simply studied the notes posted and skimmed chapters (sometimes I never even bothered to read them). Tests are straight forward and fair.
Probably one of my favorite professors. She makes the class really interesting. She goes into details about experiences and examples of nearly every topic. She relates it to real world topics sometimes, too. i would definitely take her again. Although it was online, she was always available via email and her TA's were just as helpful.
Dr. Schepeler's class was very interesting and fun during remote learning. You have many opportunities to do well in her class because she drops the 3 lowest test scores out of 9 exams (one exam per week). I finished her class 4 weeks early because I did well on the first 6 exams. Do the extra credit paper it really helps your grade!!!
Despite everything being online, she still managed to make lectures interesting by proving personal stories, experiences, and great examples that helped me really grasp the material. Very interesting course with only 10 quizzes. If you're the type to read every assigned chapter, get ready to read that's for sure! (only textbook I've ever liked)
Professor Schepeler is amazing! Lectures were fun to listen to as well ( she brings rubber ducks). There are 9 quizzes weekly and the lowest 3 quizzes are dropped. She provides study guides for the weekly quizzes and lecture outlines. TA reviews are extremely useful. There is also an extra credit paper.
Very awesome and funny professor. Allows you to relate a lot in class. Graded on 9 exams (one a week, COVID). Make sure to watch lectures, have your note/flashcard, and read the textbook if confused!
I had her class online Fall 2020. 1 extra credit paper and 9 tests in total (no midterm, no final). The tests are 30 questions each and not cumulative. The questions are straightforward and as long as you pay attention to the lecture + study lecture note you'll get an A. Her lectures are interesting, easy to follow and have great examples.
Sweet/caring professor who truly does everything she can to help you succeed in and out of the class. Everyone should take a class w/ her at least once during their time at Davis. Class is a LOT of information (goes over lecture time often) & time-consuming. Tests are a little tricky so GO TO REVIEW SESSIONS. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT PAPER.
Want an A, do the EC. B+ is from using lecture outlines (not very helpful or clear), skimming the book, never watching lecture videos and skipping the last three optional tests. No regrets. Mean average of tests is about 24-26 out of 30. Multiple condescending complaints of student procrastination, prior to due date/time. Would pass in the future.
Dr. Schepeler has become more lenient during remote learning and its easy to see in her grading scheme. Nine weekly quizzes with the lowest three dropped, with additional extra credit. The quizzes themselves were pretty straightforward, unlike her lecture outlines. Also, she often lectures overtime. I think this was her last quarter teaching.
My first psychology class at Davis. I wish I could take her again, but it was her last quarter. I do think the set up was really a treat, because we were graded by 6 exams, we had Kahoots for studying, and were given outlines and hints on the exam material, but I really liked listening to professor talk and she was really nice if you emailed her.
