Class is entertaining and professor is hilarious. Keeps you involved. You do have to work though to do well.

He is a great teacher. His class is not boring and you actually really learn something. His class is one that I wouldn't miss...Although I did so many times yet he still passed me.

The materals aren't extremely hard but you still have to study. He's a forgiving teacher and you really have to try to fail his class. He's likes to swear and sometimes he talks dirty but otherwise--harmless.

Professor Adelson is an awesome teacher!! He is very nice and fun to talk to. I'll never forget his "pencil story" about his son and daughter's friends.

He was one of my favorites at Mesa. I would recommend taking his class to anyone. I also remember the pencil story...how could anyone forget?

Everyone is always laughing hysterically at his jokes. He tells some funny stories about how his parents are crooks. The guy carries a Viagra pen around for crying out loud! So comical. He truly wants his students to learn and understand. Take him!!!

Good teacher! Plus he's really funny and light hearted. Pay attention and take all notes, which can be a little hard because he goes off the subject a lot, but always really funny stuff. You'll get a nick-name, don't be offended, he's great!!

His tests are challenging and somewhat tricky, and he's tough when he grades a paper, but his class is very engaging...down right fun. If you have good study habits and aren't a total flunkie, I bet you'll be looking forward to going to his classes.

Best Professor at Mesa. Tests are hard, papers are graded critically, but he offers opportunities for extra points, and grades on a relaxed scale (85+ = A). VERY fun and engaging. I recommend his class to everyone!

Prof. A's course on Soc. of Family is topical, insightful, and engaging! Issues right off the front pages! Deals sraightforwardly with catatrophic effects of "Dubya" and "Arnie" public policy with respect to the family! Funny too!

He is awesome, cracks anyone up and just makes the class very enjoyable. You will get a 100% on his quizes and his tests are a little hard but he is good. Take him, you'll love it.

Funny, entertaining and enthusiastic. If he offers you 20 bucks, take it! Very fair and accomidating. Lectures tend to wander and are unclear, but very good notes available in the LRC. Quiz=EASY. Test=Hard

Class is lecture only, which isn't needed for the test. Tests very difficult and taken straight from the book. He is very funny and nice and will help you with the tests if you ask beforehand.

One of the best teachers ever--funny, extremely entertaining, very attentive to student needs. His tests aren't that easy, but getting an A is. Someone never showed up and barely passed his tests and got an A cause he did well on the final.

All the coments are true for the most part. With the language, I thought we were all big kids now get over it. The tests are not that hard, they are scantron multiple choice and he reviews almost all of the questions. He makes sociology interesting.

Great teacher. Quizzes are straight from the study book and lecture. Tests are just as easy. If you need any help, he is always happy to answer questions. As long as you look like you want to learn something, you'll do fine in his class.

This guy has got a bad case of "Sailor Mouth". His humor is dwarfed by his excessive use of profanity. He is also very crass and vulgar. I'm surprised he has any dignity as a teacher. Also, he makes up questions on exams that he never talked about.

By far the best college professor I've ever had. Funny as hell and makes a dry subject enjoyable to learn. I took him years ago and still the only professor that stands out to me...even came to my wedding.

True the class is very interesting, he makes the class fun with his humor, he'll pick on anyone but not in a way that's offensive. The test are not as easy I you think but you'll do fine if you take notes.

Evan is my favorite college teacher of my college career. He is hilarious and keeps his students interested while at the same time having a firm grasp of his subject. He helped me to develop my "sociological imagination" hardcore.

adelson is an awesome teacher. He does have a different form of teaching than what you might be used to but he makes an effort to get to know everyone in the class and really is a funny guy. Class is very enjoyable but its not that easy so you have to study!

at the end of the day you can actually say you learned something, but still had a good time. which is good considering the other kinda teachers the school has. evn rocks!

Although he likes to be funny he does teach you. It won't be a class that you sit around and do nothing. Don't get offended if he gives you a nickname during roll call. Ask him questions if you need to. You do have to work for your grade. If you turn in a bad essay, he will fail it.

After taking this class, I decided to be a sociology major. It's a very interesting class and it helped me understand some of the aspects of today's society. Some of the tests he gives can get pretty confusing but nonetheless he will help out when needed so. A good eye opener of a class. Oh yeah, he is pretty funny to hahaha.

He will tell you how it is. Everyone in America should take this course so we can make changes for the better. He's a sawed off Jew and will tell you he is about 100 times during the semester, he's hilarious.

Ever seen Good Will Hunting? He reminds me of the part Robin Williams plays. He is AWESOME! I got a C. One of my first C's at mesa college. Great, funny, and understanding professor. A must take to develope critical thinking, especially for society. Getting an A in this class was worth my time since his tests are challenging that involves a lot of critical thinking instead of just picking answers based on memorizing materials. He also tends to swear a lot and goes off topic.

Evan is by far one of my most favorite teachers! I learned so much in his class. He's super funny and cusses a lot but its all in good fun! TAKE LOTS OF NOTES IF YOU WANT TO PASS!!! His tests are 90% critical thinking, so be ready to use your brain...

The class itself took some getting used to for me, but Evan is such a fun professor! Yes, his sense of humor is a little out there, but I thought it made coming to class worth it. I'd recommend him if you can handle F-bombs and sarcasm.

Took this guy over summer. HILARIOUS. Make sure you take good notes, sometimes its hard to tell whats important with all the jokes. I bought the book but I personally didnt use it until the final. I got an A in the class. Study guide doesnt need to be bought, just photocopy the pages. Quizes and tests multiple choice. Optional essays for pts.

i love his humor. i never bought the book for his class, i just made photo copies in the library. i tried and got a B thats only because i didnt get the concepts that well. great teacher tho!

Evan is AWESOME! He's quirky and silly but also loves what he does. Be careful tho, don't mistake his sillyness for easiness. His quizzes are staight from the study guide but his tests need to be studied for. As long as you show up to class, take notes, and get involved you'll do fine. Study groups the night before exams work well. Easy to talk to!

Great teacher! He is a hilarious and informative man who often loses track due to tangent thoughts. He keeps the class very entertaining but it is necessary to attend as his tests have questions discussing examples he gives. No textbook is required, but DO write a paper for each test. It is optional but it is mandatory to get an A in the class.

Wonderful teacher. Though tough grader. Just do all the rewrites and you can easily get an A in the class. If in 101 do all the optional papers. I took him for both classes and loved them! I plan on taking him again just for fun.

Don't bother buying the Study Guide, just copy the pages from the relevant chapters from the library. Quizzes are insanely easy - exams are HARD. Go to every class. Take notes. Adelson is a nutcase but in a very good way. He is by far the funniest teacher I have ever had in my life. He is so damn funny it is ridiculous. For the quizzes make sure you get the study guides from the library because they are the exact same questions. But the test are real hard. It is not an Easy A. But he is worth it.

Evan is one of the smartest person you will ever met. I not a school person, I can honestly say that I looked forward to his classes everyday (summer class) because he spits knowledge like clock work! Yes, he is somewhat nutty, but an awesome professor. Professor Adelson is awsome! His class is interesting and fun. He explains things really well, though they are sometimes a bit hidden within (albiet, amusing)tangents. Just a warning though, those with no sense of humor, and if you're stuck in the 50's and have a cardiac arrest when a professor swears, you might be offended.

This guy is one of the best professors I've had at Mesa. He LOVES teaching and it shows in his class. Globalization is a really fun topic to start with and he makes it so much better. I would take any class with this guy, He's hilarious, witty, helpful and really promotes critical thinking. A+++++

I took sociology 101 and 110 the same semester, having Evan's classes back to back. Evan is smiply amazing. He is not a typical teacher, often saying bad words and what not.If you have any sense of humor you will just laugh it off. Funny stories but HARD class. STUDY AND READ material.110 are take home tests but still very hard.

Great professor and an overall great guy! Has a great sense of humor, knows the cirriculum and makes learning sociology fun! i found his tests to be a bit challenging. Beware: If your a baseball fan he's a hardcore Yankees fan and since I'm a Red Sox fan we always gave each other crap all in good fun. Highly Recommend.

Evan is a great guy, briliant, fun teacher. But a few warnings: you will devote HOURS to this class to even get a B, you MUST attend every class, or you're screwed, and you will listen to pointless stories, dirty jokes, oodles of profanity...ect. However, he will help you if you don't understand, and the exams are INSANELY! hard. Good class tho

Evan is the most entertaining professor I've ever had. I look him over the summer and I ws looking forward to coming to class everyday. His lectures are somewhat crazy w lots of dirty jokes and singing..you heard me. But he's actually very organized, theres lecture notes and study guides which are very helpful for the exams. Print out the lecture notes and study guides from the class website and make sure you come to class because he clarifies things the book makes a little hazy. OVERALL, I REALLY ENJOYED EVAN'S (HE DOESNT MIND BEING ADDRESSED ON A FIRST NAME BASIS) CLASS. HE'S WHITTY AND KEEPS STUDENTS ENGAGED IN CONVERSATION WHICH REALLY ENFORCES UNDERSTANDING OF THE MATERIAL. THERE IS A LOT OF THEORY COMPARISON, WITH THAT SAID, I RECOMMEND ASKING AS MANY QUESTIONS AS POSSIBLE AND DO EVERY PRE-TEST ESSAY OFFERED.

Prof Adelson is very funny and expands on topics from a unique perspective. He isn't afraid to push boundaries in a refreshing way. The assignments are thought provoking and take time. He cares about you thinking rather than the right answer. He likes questions. He is always willing to help and make sure you pass if you reach out.

This is my first semester in college and having Mr. Adelson gives me a better outlook on college and life. He says things the way they are which i respect a lot and he is utterly hysterical. He is very clear about everything he wants and gives you a lot of notice before a test, quiz, or paper. I highly recommend him to anyone.

Still in his class right now and i'v got to say, he is hilarious. I am 17 by the way and all his "adult" jokes are totally comprehensible, whoever doesn't get it must be moron. Anyways he is a great professor and opens you eyes about a lot of things regarding society.

With that being said, he tends to get side tracked a lot, and sometimes he talks so fast that you just tend to space out when he's actually trying to teach us. The class itself is not necessarily an easy A, there is a lot of reading and analyzing but he walks you through everything. You will learn so much and get a lot out of his lectures. Really fun and engaging.

It's like having a stand up comedian for a teacher. I laughed everyday in his class, he was so funny. Tests are hard. Essays help boost your grade. Easy to pass with a Avg. grade. Study guides are helpful. Quizzes are online and easy if you read and prepare yourself by reading the book. Overall, he is a good teacher.

Funniest Professor I've had so far. More adult humor so dont be sensitive. Easy class in the sense that there is never any homework assigned, only 3 major exams and 3 take home quizzes (which he gives you the answers for). Tests can be difficult so it is important to STUDY! and you can complete the optional essays for a better score on the tests.

Adelson is hilarious & knowledgeable in his field. Great anecdotes to help you understand each concept in soc. Really helped me think about our society. 3 tests, 3 take-home quizzes, & 3 optional extra credit essays. You can always email him for anything. I actually preferred the single 3hr lecture bc you get through the course quicker HA.

Mr. Adelson is one of the best professors in Mesa. If you want to challenge your critical thinking, take him. His lectures are interesting and he is loaded with humor. He's very helpful and considerate. Tests are not easy, but you'll get good grades if you put time and effort reading and reviewing the lectures. 99% of the things he says matters.

I LOOOVED this class. Hands down my favorite!!!! He really makes you think and appreciate the course. The tests weren't easy from what I saw from other people, but I was passionate about the subject and took good notes so I was able to pass with an A. You have to work for the grade you get. Go to class!!! I wish I could take another course whim!

Super funny guy and a good teacher. Provides intersting examples that make the lessons more understandable keeps your attention by being funny but it isn't too much.. Would definitely take him again.

Adelson is the one of the greatest professors in the whole school system. That semester I laughed until I cried and there were times I could not breath from laughing so hard! He is the best professor I've had in my entire school career. You will have to work for your grade! He is funny but he don't play that easy A ish!! You better work for that A

Dr. Adelson is intelligent and hilarious. Subject is interesting, however you are required to work for an A. 3 exams, 2 quizzes-he provides all answers. My only fault with him is he talks so fast that I could not keep up with lecture. I hope he slows down in the future. His comedy & lecture together was a distraction, but I recommend him.

I think Adelson is a great teacher and guy in general. I thought sociology was bull but some of the lecture topics blew my mind. The class overall is not hard. He gives 3 tests and 3 quizzes. He tells you all the answers for quizzes and they're online. The tests are not bad, just review your lecture notes. The class grade is curved 86% is an A.

Really good guy and funny professor. I had many laughs in this class and learned a lot about sociology in today's world. he allows extra credit essays but does grade harshly, so talk to him about them. The tests are very tough compared to the laid-back atmosphere of the class. He does not assign homework but be sure to actually read and take notes!

Dr. Adelson is a great Professor, and a great person. His class was fun, I took it in the summer, his tests are hard but you can write an essay for each test to make up for them (there's only 3). People are critical of him because he gets distracted and tells a lot of stories but I think that made the class more fun. I highly recommend him!

Tough teacher. With that being said, i would take him again. 3 hard test which he gives a great review sheet for(i wouldnt have needed to take notes for the class) and thats it. Very comical and a great asset to anyone trying to learn sociology. Do yourself a favor and spend about 4 extra hours to pass his tests and take him. Oh and 85+ is an A.

Took him for Principles of Soc. BEST PROFESSOR! would take again in a heartbeat! I had a lot of personal stuff going on and Evan was 100% lenient w/ me and was a light for me at the time. He's hilarious, but do not be sensitive! He is brilliant and changed the way I think and see the world. Clear on what is expected for an A. I got an A.

He will give you the correct answers to the 3 online quizzes he assigns. 3 tough exams but will give you the opportunity to write essays to make up for the missed questions. Very funny guy, keeps you interested. He has his lecture notes online so I didn't use the text book too often.

Awesome teacher! Definitely knows what he's talking about and tells funny stories. Test can be difficult, but if you do the reading and the optional essays you'll pass. Really enjoyed going to that class, not recommended for anyone who's very sensitive or gets offended easily. You'll learn a lot about the world, good and bad.

One of my favorite professors ever!! I took his class over the summer and loved it! He makes the class so enjoyable, but his jokes are not for sensitive people. If you study the class isn't too hard, I learned a lot! I feel he made the material very clear.

BEST PROFESSOR EVER. He cares about his students and keeps the class entertaining, I looked forward to his class every Monday and Wednesday. He gives you 3 tough tests but not impossible & 3 quizzes in which he gives you the answers to them. You definitely have to study. You learn a lot from his lectures, it'll be an easier class if you take notes.

One of my favorite profs. To ace this class, go over lecture notes, combine it with notes you write in class, and you'll know EVERYTHING for the exams. Attendance isn't essential to pass, but you'll miss out on great stories and insightful concepts about the world. Participate in class, he's open to ANYTHING you suggest to discuss. Seriously.

He's one of the most down-to-earth professors I have ever met (a little ADD, though). I took his Honors course, so there was a lot of essay writing but his feedback made me a much better writer. If you want to pass: go to his office hours, participate in class, put in the work, and question the world around you.

I took Adelson for 110 and found it great enough that I took his honors course, as well. If you work for it and try, you WILL get an A (which I did), especially if you're serious about the class. His lectures and jokes are great, and he's easily accessible outside of class in case you need help on papers, and he'll also accept some papers late.

This class was hard, but Adelson makes it worth it. He is hilarious and cracks jokes to ease the pain of school. You need to read if you want to do well on the tests. I found his tests very difficult, but then again I didn't spend too much time in the book. You wont regret taking this class, amazing professor.

Lectures are funny and thought provoking. Spends a lot of class time making jokes, this includes racial/sexist jokes, but he makes them in a satirical manner. 3 exams, Blackboard quizzes (he gives answers to), and extra credit opportunities. He drops a few test answers during lectures. Exams are easy if you study and use the resources he provides.

He is a really tough grader and challenges you , frustrating at times but genuinely feel like a better student after taking his course . He is very accommodating if you have life issues that get in the way . He's on your side and wants you to succeed !

He is a great guy, funny (dance & sing) in class, and loves to crack jokes. He is proud of his wife and kids. Coming to class was fun. I'm really glad I chose his class. Evan is the best professor I've ever had. As long as you pay attention during his classes, you'll do good. Also, everything needed for the class is available to you online, including study guides, lecture notes that he follows, and optional paper prompts to write for his exams if you want to make up for your score.

From day one, Evan is very interested in the subject, and uses funny anecdotes to explain concepts. He does pay attention to his students however, so be prepared to be called out. Any assigned reading is gone over in class. Overall, the class is based off of four essays and three multiple choice finals.

Evan is by far the best professor I have ever had! He cares so much about his students and is absolutely hilarious with lectures that resemble a Robbin Williams stand-up routine, but are still super informative; there is never a dull moment. If you aren't a good test taker he gives an optional essay that can replace half the test grade.

GO TO LECTURE. Assigns a few books but he goes over what he wants you to know in class so I didnt read them. Good lecturer. Hes funny but sometimes gets off topic. Really nice guy though. Total of 6 mandatory 2 pg essays and 2 optional 2 pg. 4 multiple choice exams. Sounds like a lot but take good notes and youll be fine.

Adelson is very entertaining and inspirational. Don't be thrown off by his fun personality and slack off in the class though. He grades papers pretty hard but provides good feedback! You will feel conflicted on wanting to take more of his classes because he is so fun but it does require a considerable amount of effort.

No homework, you're basically graded by 3 exams, if you're not a good test taker there is an optional essay you can do instead of the exam. There is 3 quizzes about 24 questions each but he gives you the answers to them the day before and you take the quiz online at home so there goes easy points to boost up your grade. He is hilarious as well.

if you want an education, do yourself a favor and take him. if you also don't have a sense of humor or a grasp of how the world works, TAKE HIM. he is so hilarious but also treats you like an equal! if you stop by his office you will also gain a friend, he's an outstanding professor. essays accompany each test to boost your grade, study hard though

I selected &quot;non mandatory&quot; for the textbook because I didn't even buy it and still got a B. But if you want that A you need to read the book, and take lots of notes. Also write at least one extra credit essay. They don't have to be that long and they help you process the different sociological theories before the tests. He also makes a lot of jokes

Great professor. He has a dark sense of humor but he is funny. He is always willing to help. Right your essays before hand so you can get his opinion on it before you turn it in. Iv taken him twice and would take him again.

Lectures aren't the best because of his handwriting and frequent tangents, but he is a really funny guy so you won't have problems staying awake. Grade is 100% on tests, so do get textbook if needed. Good news is quizzes are free grades because he would give answers beforehand. Overall, cool professor that I don't mind taking again.

A truly amazing, one-of-a-kind, genuine professor. I didn't mind that the tests were different from the lecture because Professor Evan teaches in a way that you remember for a lifetime. He teaches concepts and ideas that relate to your life and really make you think. A sweet and kind soul. Hard A and an easy B if you do the optional short essays.

Professor Adelson really impacted my entire college career and changed my views on professors. He is very willing to work with students and he reciprocates the effort you put into his class. He is very good professor. I had a SOC101 with him and I enjoyed classes but it was hard for me. There is too many information that you have to learn for test. we had a 3 quiz and 3 test but the quiz very easy. Also, you can write the article to get more credit. His class was fun and helpful. If you study and write articles, you should be good.

Prof Adelson is a great professor! It's a lot to take in and tests can be hard but he lets you do an essay with tests that can boost your test grade, take advantage of that! He's super funny so it's easy to pay attention to his lectures. He talks a lot but because he makes jokes you can retain the information because you'll remember the jokes.

I got away with not reading because his lectures are excellent, he explained everything really well, and he explains things again if there is confusion. Sociology is not my major, but his classes were so entertaining and informative took more.

Really fun classes to take, but the exams were weighted heavily and pretty difficult. Other than the test taking aspect, I always liked coming to class because the discussions were entertaining.
