I've had professor cantor for 2 semesters. He's a good teacher, very clear, explains everything well, andlikes what he does. He does give a decent ammount of writing so be prepared to do work, espcially for an A.

EVAN CANTOR WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE ENGLISH TEACHER. HE BRINGS OUT THE WRITING SKILLS AND CREATIVITY ONE HAS IN SUCH A MANNER THAT YOU WILL BE ASTONISHED WITH THE RESULT. IF I EVER HAD TO TAKE AN ENGLISH COURSE, IT WOULD BE WITH HIM.

Mr. Cantor is strict, but if you need help he is more than willing to help you. His class helped me expand my knowledge about essay writing.

he is a real college professional to the full extend of the word. he's Helpful but strict and does give out alot of assignments but he knows what he's doing.

There is one very big research paper (20 pgs) on any topic you wish due at the end of the semester and a few smaller papers in the middle. Grades pretty fairly. May be difficult for students not good in writing. Most classmates recieved A's, but all of them put in hard effort.

He is really funny and smart. He knows his stuff. Gives a lot of work and expects a lot from his students. He is also very clear and explains things well. I got an A in both of his classes but I worked really hard. I learned a great deal from him.

VERY COOL TEACHER. im not a writer and had taken the course but dropped ( with schroder he sux). Cantor is very helpful and as long as you follow his directions your all good!!!! highly recommended!!!

Definately a sports guy. Paper's are sort of long but are all done in steps with check ins. Few quizes from handbook which you will more than likely fail unless you have an excellent memory. Otherwise made up with the paper. No extra credit. Cute smile and I agree he's easy on the eyes.

Cute, yes. the book quizzes are pointless, but the paper is done in steps and he's very sociable. Had him during the summer adn he gave the option of taking a break or getting out early for the beach so i definitley recommend him.

Probably the best teacher I've ever had. His class is alot of work, so be prepared to do more than 1 draft of your papers, but if you work hard, you will get an A. Quizzes every class period, but they are just so you stay on point with essays that are discussed in class, overall, I've never learned so much in a class...highly recommended!!

This is the first Eng. Class I take with Mr. Cantor. I must admit at first I was intimidated by his teaching style and thought of dropping the class, but as I kept coming to class, I got more and more interested. Mr. Cantor is a great professor and I would highly recommend him. Read your Material and be prepared for class and You will be OKAY.

Cantor is a great man. Probably my fav. teacher of all time. The first few days of class I thought he was an arrogant jerk but grew to like him more with every class. I have learned more from him than any other teacher. He is passionate about what he does and cares that his students do well. And yes, he's also pretty hot.

Cantor is a good prof. he does try to scare you on hte first day and he is klinda annoying the first couple of weeks and you hate his quizzes the first couple of weeks but then you start warming up to him. you have 3 papers to do and he is extremly helpful. def rec. him!...hes not bad looking either!!

i love his class. He is a good and understanding teacher. To pass his class, you have to pay extra attention on grammatical errors. An excellent teacher.Also, you must follow your schedule if you don't, then you have to run real fast because you don't want to procastinate. About those whose writing skills are weak, do your papers in advance.

Intimidates you on the first day, after scaring half the class away he is actually a really good teacher. If you've never written an essay before this class I dont suggest you take him. However if your a decent writer this class should be a piece of cake. Attendance is kinda manditory, quizes everyday and stuff due almost everyday! Good professor!

Cantor is awesome. Very enthusiastic. His one downside is he talks incredibly quickly. So if you cannot keep up with quick talkers, do not take this class. He is very easy going. If you're not a good essay writer, he'll make you one. He goes through the material over and over again until you get it. Very cool and down to earth.

Cantor is the most amazing professor in the world. Every single professor should be like him. He scares people off the first day and the ones that remain standing are the ones that are serious about learning. Challenging class, the first challenging class Ive taken at Northeastern. Cantor is an awesome teacher. He really enjoys teaching his classes. I learned alot more about writing in his World of Fiction class. You do need to pay attention in his classes and do your assignments. He is very friendly and approachable.

Cantor is an amazing professor! He assigns tons of reading in the beginning of the semester and expects a lot, but if you attend class and ask for help when you need it you are golden.

If you want to actually learn then attend his class. If you expect a blow off in which you could be absent to the class, definitely not for you.

Took him years ago at Truman College. I remember him being a really good teacher. Was surprised to see his name on an office in the classroom building. Highly recommend.

This is a real teacher. He makes you a better writer. He is anti-boring. Once, I came to class without sleeping the night before, and I made it through without thinking about sleep. The next class I fell asleep right away. You will learn from this guy, but he doesn't let you slack off.

I'm currently in his class, he's a wonderful professor....he really sees your strengths and weaknesses,this class is challenging but its in the best interest of his students.Don't take any other professors but him for English 102...the rest of them don't care...

Well Mr. Cantor, You certainly have some fans....I agree - excellent professor. YOu will work in his class, learn a lot and improve your writing. He is all around a great professor - funny, witty, sarcastic, difficult, kind, honest. If you want to improve yourself - as a writer, person, student take any of his classes.

Expect a lot of homework, quizzes every day and a 10pg paper as a final. It seems like a lot of work but it's worth it! You won't have problems writing in the future A+ Cantor!

Best English teacher ever. At first he may seem strict and mean but as the semester progresses he is really cool and keeps class interesting you lose track of time. The only thing though is that he talks really fast so if English is not your first language I wouldn't recommend it. Other than that he is great.

Prof. Cantor is the best English professor at NEIU. He expects a lot from his students ( quizes every class based on the hw reading, essays, etc) but is very fair when it comes to grading. Must attend class but it's NEVER boring

He is a great professor! The classes are extremely interesting. I always looked forward to going to class. He quizzes every time but as long you do your reading, the quizzes are easy-peasy.

You will learn with Cantor. It will not be easy and you may curse his name a few times but you will learn how to write. One of the best professors I've had. You will not get to coast by and turn in mediocre work and your effort is noted by him. If you want brownie points however, be sure to wear something Cubs related as he is a HUGE Cubs fan.

The first day of class will appear to be enormously heavy so far as work and expectations but, don't let him scare you off. He goes into great detail about every assignment he give and is more than willing to help. It was is not an easy class but, if you try he will too. DOES NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!

Awesome Awesome professor. Class starts off rocky like he says and can become stressful but the last month or so its easy. He cares about his students and is always willing to help. Never learned so much in one class. He is clear and tells you exactly what he wants in his assignments so no confusion. TAKE HIM!

VERY VERY GOOD PROFESSOR. He will learn your name, and you will participate. The class is upbeat so you will never get tired, sleepy, or bored. He keeps you engaged! Take notes on all readings, and you will be fine! Keep up with the work, be at every class or you will miss A LOT. Definitely got my moneys worth plus more.

He's amazing! As stated before, he can be intimidating and the first week or 2 is kinda stressful but if you stick around, he makes things as easy and painless as he possibly can. He's super helpful, answers any questions, and gives in-depth step-by-step instructions for each essay. He will teach you how to become a good writer, trust me!

Class is MANDATORY! Your grade will be lowered after so many absences. The work might seem like a lot on paper but in class he breaks it down so no one is lost. Love him as a professor! If you want to learn take him. He is amazing and knows his ish. Oh and no cubs gear, he's not a fan.

I was very intimated on the first day of class. There were at least 4 that dropped the class. But it was their loss because he's one of the most AMAZING professors I've ever had. I still can't stop talking about him :)

One of the best professors at NEIU. I've had some pretty horrible professor's at NEIU, their issue is their smart but do not know how to teach. Professor Cantor is complete opposite, not only is he smart but he knows how to teach and interact with students. This guy deserves an award! BEST professor on the face of this planet!!! He will make it seem like his class is living hell on the first couple weeks of class, but if you stick around you'll LOVE him! LOVED this class. He'll give the impression that its going to be difficult and you'll have quizzes every class but as long as you read or spark notes the stuff the class is a breeze. He's super cool and funny as well.

Cantor seems very intimidating at first but he's really cool & funny! As long as you do the readings and take notes on the key stuff (theme, POV, setting,etc) you will do fine on the daily quizzes and exams. Cantor is definitely in my top 5 professors that I've had in my four years of university level courses. I highly recommend you take this class

Cantor is such a great instructor, he repeats things over and over again so there isn't any excuse that you missed something. He gets a lot of respect and not enough credit for what he does to have his students achieve. Would take his class again if I had to!

Cantor is a phenomenal professor. He cares about his students and guides them towards success with a strict but helpful hand. There is a ton of homework but unlike most classes in college, you will definitely witness a major improvement in your writing abilities. I recommend him to everyone, however if you are lazy you will fail.

Professor Cantor was amazing! Best professor I've ever had. He appreciates hard work when he sees it, and is very inclined to helping you pass-as long as you do the work and follow every instruction. Many people dropped his class because of how much work it was, but stick to the end. It gets way better after the first few weeks.

Professer Cantor is the best professor ever! The first day he will scare you but trust me stick to it and you'll be fine! I've became a better writer bc of him. He really helps you out and he repeats everything. By the end of the semester there was only 9 people left in the class, compared to almost 26 the first day. Plus he is pretty cute.

Great teacher, class was never boring. Very fair grader, but expect to read a lot. Quiz every class. We had 3 papers over the semester 2-6 pagers. Only one midterm, that covered a ton of material. No final exam. He makes you work for your grade, but his class was awesome. I learned so much! Defiantly recommend taking him.

Honestly one of the best teachers I have had. Super fun! He makes you work for the grade but in a helpful positive way. He helps you become a better writer and is great with what you need to improve yourself on. Quizzes from the textbook are expected but really easy if you read (practically gives you the questions) DEFINITELY TAKE HIS CLASS!!

if you want to get a good grade, in this class you actually have to work for it. Kind of an easy grader, looks for the mechanical errors, easy to fix! He's super funny and sarcastic which you need for the hour and 15 mins!

Great prof. Lectures are engaging and interesting, but he can pretty repetitive sometimes as he recycles lines. Frankly, he assigns a bunch of papers which may seem intimidating on the first day, but stick with his calendar and you'll be cruisin'. Trust me, if you genuinely want to improve your writing skills, just take this class. Book required.

At first, I wasnt going to take his class due to a lot of reviews on here that read, tough grader, lots of quizzes. BUT Im SO glad I did! He will definitely inspire you to be a better writer. He gives second chances on essays. He knows how to get the class involved when teaching and more importantly, he actually knows how to teach. Take him!!!

A little intimidating at first when you see the workload, however stick to it. Few professors are as committed to their work and their students as Prof Cantor is. Evan was one of the toughest teachers I've had in the best way possible. If you are ready to actually and finally learn how to write and put a research paper together, take his composition classes. I took his accelerated Comp I and II in a single semester and it was one of the most difficult yet immensely rewarding things I've ever done.

My favorite class that semester was this one. Evan totally knows the material and how to deliver its teachings. Gives second chances and extra credit, so even if you may not be the best of writers/literature interpreters, there is no reason for you not to pass this class. He cares for his students. He'll teach you to be a better writer. TAKE HIM!

The first day you will be intimidated as hell. The homework sounds like a lot but I promise you it isn't. Pay attention in class and he GIVES AWAY the questions for the quizzes. Very easy straight from the book one or two worded answers plus extra credit. Very funny and intelligent guy! Cantor makes class super enjoyable! TAKE HIS CLASS!!!

Enriching class all around. He gives you weeks to turn in papers with daily/weekly check-ins making them all a breeze to finish. Textbook use is mandatory but the topics you cover are captivating. Reading quizzes are a minuscule part of your grade and feature tons of extra credit problems. Take him for the easy A, stay because class is a pleasure.

professor Evan does a good job to prepare his students for higher English classes like 102 etc but if you have no intentions of ever taking any English class above 101 don't take him

Professor cantor is really passionate about the class, you can definitely talk to him about anything. 10/10 would take again.

Cantor is awesome! He strives to have all his students pass, which means he helps you get a good grade. Each class starts off with a quiz on the reading. Don't be late. He's very understanding and encourages you to argue your grade if you feel the need. Con: he made us guess like every third word he was gonna say which became my newest pet peeve.

It is a writing class, obviously you will have to write a lot. However, coming out of the class you will definitely feel like a better writer. Cantor is a real gem of a professor, and breaks down assignments into a check-in basis. You must stay on top of things. Very intimidating at first but stick through it, trust me.

I took Dr. Cantors English 102 course over the summer during COVID-19, and he was the best prof I have ever had. Super caring, frequently checked in with emails and messages on D2L, and gave amazing feedback. As long as you meet his criteria for his papers, its an easy A :)

He is definitely one of the best teachers at that school. He is funny and always gave clear instructions. He emails back SUPER quick too

Professor Cantor is amazing. It's easy to do your papers because he breaks them down and there's a clear calendar. Just do your work for the week and you won't have any problems. I always hated writing, but this class was so fun. Quiz everyday and its extra credit. He's educated on many other matters too & I learned so much more than just writing.

Professor Cantor is really great and helpful! I have always loved writing, but it had some flaws and he made me a better writer. There was a clear calendar for every class which was quite convenient. The quizzes were fun and they were extra credit! My most favorite part of this class was his positive feedback and motivational tone throughout.

There are quizzes in most classes, and while it may seem overwhelming at first, it gets easier with time. He helped me a lot with my writing, and I'm glad I had him as a professor.
