Brother Hansen is considerably a good teacher. He is quite understanding and reasonable. He tries hard to teach and prepare us, but I feel if you want to get a good grade, you must do the reading and know it because his study guides and hints for the test is not entirely accurate what's on the test. There is a lot we don't go over.
I have always been interested in the topic of climate change, and first taking this class the topic was very interesting and it's very much still is, but I don't get very much out of his class. He is a great person and he knows his stuff, but his teaching is not very clear.
I enjoyed his class, goofy guy with lame humor, but his humor helped keep me interested in what he taught, I enjoyed his humor. Not my favorite subject but he did a good job of keeping me interested so I could learn. Lots of extra credit available if you are willing to do the extra papers and work. I would recommend him to anybody.
He is absolutely awesome teacher. very nice and kind. But the class itself was not very easy. But he always tries to make students understand in class. Still lot of stuff to do except regular homework. Recommend this class.
I feel like this class has a lot of work for a 2 credit class. I do more in this class than I do in most of my 3 credit classes.
He is a good teacher.
He is a really nice teacher, but I did not really care about his class. Hard work and tests are very confusing. You would love it if you are interested on science.
Brother Hansen is an amazing teacher. You can tell he enjoys teaching and he wants students to understand, not just do well on tests. He explains things clearly and gives loads of extra credit opportunities.
This class is great. The class is very easy if you simply do the work. He gives you all the information you need for your test. I suggest that everyone takes his test.
Good teacher that loves what he does. Willing to help and re-explain things as many times as necessary. Always available for feedback! Really cares about his students. Many extra credit opportunities.:)
Climate Change class was excellent. Will take some work to comprehend subject material. Book are required to complete assignments. Daily Assignments to write but test can use notes. Not the easiest concepts to understand, but if you put the work in you'll do fine.
He did sometimes get off track but other than that he a good teacher he knows what he is talking about. This is a pretty easy class but you do right some papers. I would recommend him.
Good professor. Made class fun and I learned a lot in the semester that I was in his class.
Brother Hansen has a very fun and unique sense of humor. He is extremely smart, and knows what he talks about. He is always very willing to help people.
Brother Hansen is a very good professor. He has a very different kind of sense of humor but he is funny. He is helpful and understanding. Allows for a lot of extra credit opportunities.
Brother Hansen is a very nice man. He is willing to help you if you have concerns or problems with the work. He is extremely smart and although this is good, he sometimes does not explain the material clearly enough. He gives a lot of busy work that seemed kind of unnecessary. However, there is a lot of extra credit you can do to make-up things.
Brother Hansen is excellent at forming the class to the needs and interests of his students. if you take his class you might find him to be a little quirky but it grows on you. he really knows his stuff and he is willing to help you if you think you need it.
Professor Hansen is a good guy. This class had some high points as far as grabbing my interest but there was also some boring stuff. We had a summary due every day and a handful of group assignments. If you stay up on all the assignments then you will do fine.
Brother Hansen is really good guy, but I did not like the class. It is one that you can get through if you need to but not one that I would be interested in. He is helpful and the assignments are easy, you can do well if you put in a little time.
Brother Hansen is a good teacher, he has a tendency to go off on random stories which takes up class time, so we don't cover all that is on the test. To make up for this though, Brother Hansen does test reviews where he tells you what will be on the test. All-in-all pretty good teacher.
Overall good teacher. He does go off on a lot of tangents and sometimes you don't learn anything. Tests are ok.
Brother Hansen is an excellent teacher. He teaches very well and if you ever have any questions, he will sit down with you in his office for as long as you need. If you pay attention in class and do the homework, his tests are easy. Plus he usually has review guides that he'll help you fill out himself. That, and he's hilarious.
Bro.Hansen is very easy going and likes to joke around. You have to do a Preclass Summary for each class period which I thought were not very beneficial. An overall easy class, just have to pay attention to what he says and look over his slides to prepare for the tests.
Absolute favorite teacher of all time. There is a lot of homework in this class, but thats necessary for any physics class. Test are on concepts, not sneaky math tricks, so they're not too hard. He truly wants you to do well and will help you if you ask, I feel I learned a ton from him. He canceled our final and we had a picnic instead :)
The only purpose of class is for entertainment. Might as well take an online class and save yourself the time of going and then attempting to teach yourself everything
One of the worst physics teachers at this school. Demeaning and self righteous. Doesn't listen to reason and is thick headed. Only puts forth effort if you do things his way. Thinks everyone has to learn his way or they are wrong. Do not take if you can avoid it.
His tests are horrible and they are the majority of your grade. Its almost impossible to tell what he is asking of you on the problems because he makes them so complex. He also makes you retake each test twice so each test is actually 3 tests. And if you dont understand what he is asking for on the problems you'll get them wrong. GPA killer.
Super funny, most of the class will be cracking jokes but you still learn.
Lots of group projects. Easy homework before every class . He is really funny but also knows when to settle down. Extremely smart guy. I would take him again if I could.
Great teacher. Didn't like class at first but ended up loving it. You meet with your group once a week and get a lot of points just for participation. Always willing to go out of his way to help you out to understand material. Brought gospel into lectures a lot, which was way cool. Very nice, hilarious, and super cool teacher in my opinion!
The class is pretty straight forward. Attendance is a must.
Bro. Hansen is a teacher not like many I've had, his sense of humour is dry so to put it but he is truly engaged in what he is teaching. He likes the topics ans he enjoys seeing the students get into it. there is a decent amount of work that needs to be done but Hansen is there to be of service if you seek for his advice.
Bro Hansen is the nicest man you will ever meet. I really enjoyed talking to him and seeing him around. However, his way of teaching wasn't my way of learning. He relies mostly on the textbook to teach you. So the best thing to do is to take notes from the text, take notes in class, and ask him questions. Other than that, the class was fine.
After the first day I wanted to drop but I ended up loving it. He's got the physicsdad type of humor that gets better the more he gets to know the class. He really cares about his students and if you actually do all the preclass assignments you'll be fine. Group stuff could suck if you get a bad group but I bet he would work with you if so.
I had been excited for this class, only to end up hating it because of the way it was taught. A large amount of your grade is from group work, and you spend a lot of time teaching yourself from the textbook. I tried going to him for help and for clarity on one concept, and he seemed to treat it like it was stupid for me not to know. Avoid him.
Super funny guy. There is tons of busy work but he actually makes learning science interesting. He is really helpful and really is interested in helping you succeed so he lets you redo assignments and prepares you for the tests.
He is a super nice and funny guy, but he is unclear and kind of scatter brained. You can use notes on his tests, but they don't help much the tests are difficult. Tests don't really affect your grade if you write good papers. Super awesome guy, just a little confusing as a teacher.
Brother Hansen is a really nice guy. Go to class because you have a clicker question everyday that counts for participation. You have a reading assignment due every class as well. pretty easy class if you show up. His TA's do all of the grading. they never seemed to grade assignments accoding to what assign, requirements. Overall an alright class.
There was a homework assignment for every class period.
You have a reading assignment due every class period and during class you talk about what you read the day before. Everyday he has a clicker question for attendance.
The hw is really is and the class time goes by really fast. So long as you do the pre-assignment hw and turn in the papers on time, you can get an A. He has study sessions where he tells you EXACTLY what he's going to talk about on the exams. I never got an A on any exam but still was able to get an A for the class.
He is very set on asking rhetorical questions and pausing awkwardly about it. It is always best to just do the extra credit. Papers are easy and you are sure to get an A on them.
If you do the reading and prep-assignments then you will be fine. I did not like the playing the game it was pointless. If you do the assignments and the extra credit you will pass easy. Also you get one page of notes on the test.
Great teacher! Always willing to work with you. Has enthusiasm for what he teaches which is always great learning from someone like that. gives motivation, and inspiration to those he teaches :)
The class is great if you care about Global Warming and want to take action. You will learn a lot and you'll be able to understand all about modern climate change.
This professor is pretty hilarious and he makes the topic really fun and interesting to learn about. Make sure you do the homework or else nothing will make sense. Always come to class because if you don't you will most likely fail. Tests aren't too hard and there's a few papers but those aren't hard either.
Pretty easy class. It is hard to actually care about any assignments or anything when you didn't really care about climate change in the first place. Not hard at all, just super boring.
The class requires alot of reading and homework assignments for every class. There were papers assigned throughout the semesters, not super long, but there were quite a few of them.
Two page summaries are due at the beginning of almost every class. Class time consists of lectures, and lots of "share with your neighbor. Brother Hansen does a good job of keeping you interested and can be quite comical at times. I liked the teacher, didn't like the busywork.
Bro. Hansen is a great teacher. He takes the time to learn every student's name and works with you throughout the course. He has a passion for science and his enthusiasm for the subject helps you get over some of the busy work that needs to be completed. His teaching styles helps you learn rather than just have the ability to repeat answers.
Brother Hansen is a really fun teacher and he made learning about the climate fun. I was kind of curious about the subject when I started the semester, but I gained a greater appreciation for the studies done and everything about the climate as I took the class. Brother Hansen also gets side tracked very easily, but that makes the class really fun.
Great teacher, very knowledgeable and helpful
Brother Hansen has a very dry sense of humor, there was summaries basically everyday. Overall a pretty good class, but you definitely need to have an interest in science/ climate change.
Brother Hansen's dry sense of humor was fantastic. He was always humorous, but was also always very conscious of where to draw the line. He never, to my remembrance, said anything that was out of line. His lectures could be a bit more clear, but other than that he was great.
Bro Hansen is my most favorite science teacher that I have ever had. He makes an effort to get to know everyone personally and really cares about you. Everyday there is a reading summary that you have to write but you get used to them. He also holds study groups for the tests which is really helpful. I would recommend him to anyone.
Brother Hansen is a very enthusiastic about what he does. Even if you do not like his class, you cannot help but like him. So, if you are just taking FDSCI202 because you have to, take it from him. There a few papers and tests, but if you prepare for them, they are not hard. He really gets to know his students and is offers a lot of extra credit.
He is okay. He wants participation but does not force it. His instructions and lectures are a little confusing but he makes up for it by being willing to help and sending the TAs out to help.
Brother Hansen is a great teacher. He loves the topic and makes it interesting. There are chapter summaries due every day but they are easy and graded for completeness not quality. Great teacher
Good teacher and interesting class, but doesn't prepare you well for exams. You do most of the work for them on your own and the pre-class summaries are long.
Brother Hansen is a very great teacher who loves his work. I personally love how willing he is to work with the students. If you can't make it to class or forget to turn in a paper, he will work with you and I think that is so great! He understands that this is just a foundation class and that people are usually taking it because they have to.
Brother Hansen is helpful. If you work hard in this class, you'll pass. He is willing to work with you if need help. The aide is helpful too!
He is a super nice guy. However, the lectures in class weren't very test specific so it was hard to know what to study.
Great teacher! The workload is doable, easy A if you do your assignments. Made the issue of climate change interesting, the course was more about how to think than what to think. Overall was pleased with the class.
I enjoyed the class overall. The subject, Issues in Global Climate Change, was not one of my favorites. So, the lectures were pretty boring. Toward the end of the semester, it was actually hard not to fall asleep in class. I think it was mostly because I was exhausted. Bro. Hansen is really kind and funny. He really wants to help his students.
Brother Hansen is one of the best Teachers I ever had
Brother Hansen teaches a good class. Assignments given are not challenging and do not take much time, it honestly is just some busy work. The lecture content was rather interesting, and he made the applications to actual life interesting and legitimate. Your opinions and views will change on this subject matter.
Brother Hansen is a great professor who really enjoys what he's teaching about.
He is a good teacher, but sometimes a little confusing. He seems to get distracted easily. The course is pretty interesting if you do the reading. Attendance is mandatory and you need an i-Clicker.
Pretty easy class. There are a few papers and rough tests. Expect a 2 page paper every day in class.
he is honest in his response and as well teaches for understanding
There is lots of busy work but overall it is an easy class. I didn't struggle what so ever. If you need science credit and you can put up with global warming rants take this class for an easy grade. Oh and make sure you don't mind busy work about 2 to 3 times a week.
He is really funny and gets lost in his tangents, but is really smart and knows what he is doing.
Great Teacher. Will take a class from him again.
Brother Hansen was very fun. I always enjoyed his classes. He does a lot of group discussion in class and he passes out candy for people who give answers! He is very intelligent but sort of goofy. Attendance for some classes is very important and for other classes not so much. He really interesting. I would recommend you take a class form him.
I really enjoyed Brother Hansen's class. He is really smart and pretty funny even if he is kinda monotone. He gives candy for participation and lets you write a page of notes for your exams. I was recommended by a friend and would recommend him to others.
Very good teacher, very smart. He talks a lot so note taking is helpful. He makes it a priority to know each of the students. Very helpful and understanding.
Overall a good class, the homework requires a lot of reading but know that the majority of the information on the homework is going to be on the test. He will do review sessions if you ask for them. Brother Hansen is a great teacher. I would take another class from him again.
Professor Hansen made this class fun and enjoyable. He's probably one of the most innocent men you'll ever meet. He cracks jokes all the time, but also teaches really well. GO TO AND PAY ATTENTION IN the test reviews. I took good notes and as a result I got a 92% on exam 1, a 95% on exam 2, and a 92% on the FINAL. He is extremely helpful.
Very interesting. He is very funny and makes learning easy. He even hands out candy for class participation!
Brother Hansen is hilarious! I loved taking this class from him and wouldn't of taken it from any other professor. there are only 3 tests the whole semester- a page of notes can be taken to all. class was never a dull moment, Bro Hansen tends to get on random tangents but they make class awesome. Preparation for class is essential. A lot of reading
Brother Hansen is a really awesome teacher! He made class fun and engaging. He gets on some random tangents sometimes but it makes class fun. There is a lot of busy work which is annoying but as long as you do the work you will get an easy A. You get a full page of notes for the tests which is nice. He is a great teacher and I highly recommend him!
Very great teacher. There are dry parts in the course, but his humor carried it through. Applied Gospel related topics effectively to the Earth. I would recommend him for this foundation course.
Science is my weakest subject by far. Evan Hansen does a great job creating an interest in the subject with his humor and clarity. He focuses on each student individually if he can tell there is a lack of understanding . The homework load is mainly reading the textbook and short assignments.
He takes a foundation class (which can often be boring) and makes it fun. He interacts well with the students and you can see it is important to him that you understand. A couple papers but if you put some effort it you'll get a good grade. You have to read a chapter each day but they are short and the assignments are easy if you try.
The class was decent enough. I could tell Bro. Hansen did his best to make the lectures as interesting as he could. He's definitely smart in the subject matter. There seems to be a lot of busy work assigned and you have to show up to class, but it goes by fast. Pretty easy if you do all the work. He allows notes on the tests too.
Great teacher. Fun class with busy work but not hard. I would take a class from him again!
Good teacher but lots of self learning.
Bro. Hansen is a good teacher, he is passionate for what he does. There are assignments due everyday, but they are not hard. His tests are a little tough, but he gives good review sessions before each test. You have to go to the class if you want a good grade since there's participation points with a clicker. Honestly I really enjoyed his class.
Brother Hansen is the BEST! He is geeky, cheesy, and over-all very understanding. Attendance is mandatory, and there is quite a bit of work that feels like busy work but if you do everything you get an easy-A. If you don't do the work, you can pass with a C as long as your tests are A's. I would take him again if I could.
Brother Hansen is an excellent teacher for FDSCI 101. No matter how boring you may find some of the concepts taught in this class, he always makes it fun by providing candy, physical models to demonstrate with, and a smile with some really funny jokes that will surprisingly help you understand the reading concepts a little more.
Brother Hansen's Climate Change class can get boring sometimes, but he is very funny (especially when he cracks a joke and nobody gets it). He is also very helpful, and he gives tons of extra credit opportunities. He knows how to communicate effectively with everyone in the class. Overall, he is awesome.
Brother Hansen was a great teacher for Global Climate change. We never were forced to think a certain way. We were taught to form our own opinion. There is daily homework that is due each class, but is completely doable. He offers so much extra credit, not getting an A is a result of you just being lazy. Such a good class. Would take again.
Brother Hansen was one of my all time favorite professors at BYUI. TAKE HIM, he is great! You will have homework but its easy. Global climate change is super interesting and teaches you a lot about the changing world. You play a game for most of the semester that shows ways how we can adapt to the changing world. The winner gets an A on the Final.
Bro. Hansen is a great teacher. He knows the material super well and know how to help the class understand. He is a super awesome person.
I adored Brother Hansen. I thought he did an awesome job of showing how much he cared about his students and their success. He is a GENIUS, so I felt like I learned a ton more than I expected to. I never felt belittled or stupid, but always enjoyed being in class and learning about climate change(Something that I was NOT interested in before).
you are in College so expect work, but for a college class this is a pretty easy and fun class! before each test he will give a study guide that is very helpful and even lets you take a page of notes for the test. for those looking for an easy A take this class, even if you want to learn this subject its a great class.
He is funny , the class is interesting, learned a lot.
He was a great teacher who made his lectures easy to listen to. There is an assignment every class period, but they only take 20 minutes. The tests are pretty easy. The class is overall easy, but I learned a ton!
Brother Hansen is awesome and very funny. Every thing is graded very easily and makes sense. Brother Hansen is very helpful and cares about his students.
Brother Hansen is a great professor. You have to do a pre class assignment for every class but, you get good at them and they don't take long. If you show up for test reviews he practically gives you the answers to the test. You are allowed a front and back sheet of notes for tests.
Lots of homework, BUT that homework helped me pass the class. The homework is so similar to the tests so make sure you understand the summaries, and homework and youve got yourself an A. Amazing class, by an amazing teacher.
This class will make you think and reconsider your opinion on climate change. The work load is not bad, and A is not hard to obtain as long as you do the work. Brother Hansen is a good teacher, sometimes lectures are hard to follow, but he will make sure you know and understand what will be on the test so it's not a problem in the long run.
Brother Hansen is the Best. My favorite Teacher this semester.
AHHH! Take him!!! I am super good at science but I got an A- on it. As long as you do what you are supposed to do, you will be alright. People say that he doesn't care about students, that's false. He went over the test with me personally. He knows his stuff. He is definitely for you. A great science teacher you should take from. Great lessons.
Brother Hansen is hands down the best science professor I have ever had. He goes over a test review before each exam, during his own time. He genuinely cares for his students and will help you be successful in the course if you ask for help. His class can be a bit of a work load but if you stay on top of it, its an easy A.
Brother Hansen is a super good teacher. He's hilarious and the class is really easy. There is some busy work like the preclass assignements but other than that it's super easy. He gives you like all the answers to the tests beforehand. Awesome class.
he is the best science teacher ever I loved his class so much he is funny and personable and he is down to earth he was awesome
I loved his class. He enjoys what he is teaching, and is super nice and funny. You have an assignment due everyday before class, but they are not hard. You also play a game in class with your group; you can earn 100% on the final if you win.
Brother Hansen is a pretty good teacher. He cracks jokes during class and makes learning about climate change a bit more enjoyable. The class is pretty easy if you stay on top of the homework, and the group assignments are not that hard. He offers a lot of extra credit and the tests are not that bad. I would take another class from him again.
Brother Hansen is a great teacher and person. However, he gives out so much homework for a 2 credit class. I had more homework in this class than I did in most of my 3 credit classes. Attendance matters, however he does drop 4 prep assignments, 4 attendances, 2 or 3 other assignments. Doesn't actually read any prep assignments. 3 Exams, 3 papers.
He's funny and awkward in an endearing way. Happy to help and answer questions. Fun class.
Listen this man is amazing. I thought I was going to die I heard so many bad things about this class, but he pulled the entire class through the entire process. I don't know how he did it, but he developed a personal relationship with all of his students. He is really good at asking good questions. He always heads you down the right direction.
You will read the text book that he wrote, which after every chapter you will write a 2 pages doubled spaced overview on the topic. Your IClicker is for you to get points but it won't jeopardize your grade only improve it. You'll take 3 tests and write 3 papers he does that so it will all balance out.
3 test & 3 papers. There's a game you play in groups, which I didn't like at all. The tests were kind of difficult. BroHansen words questions in ways that trick you. But Brother Hansen is really nice, helps you, works with you. Before most classes there is a summary from the reading. Fairly easy class. Would've gotten an A if had more motivation.
Brother Hansen is a phenomenal instructor. He is enthusiastic and really cares for his students. I loved learning about Climate Change. You have three tests, three papers, a group project that goes on throughout the semester, and tons of extra credit opportunities. Take his class!! I highly recommend it.
Aw geez, when you get extra credit in a class for writing whatever kind of review on ratemyprofessor you want about a particular instructor, you know that he/she's got balls of steel. That's what I have to say about Evan Hansen. He's a great teacher, he has an easy class, and he helped me go from a 45% to an 85% in a month. What else do you need?
He's super fun and passionate about physics. There is lots of busy work, nothing too challenging though. If you do the work you'll pass with C or C+. If you do ok on the tests and do the work you'll get a good grade. Not too hard but demands effort. Fair grader.
Professor Hansen is a good man and caring teacher. Do the reading/assignment due before every class, show up to class, and attend the study sessions before every test and you should get a decent grade. If you're struggling, the TAs are always super nice and willing to help, as is Professor Hansen.
Lot of readings are required on every single class for preparation
Brother Hansen is the man! I really enjoyed his class. You have to come prepared everyday will a Pre Class summary. A little overwhelming at the beginning, but you soon find out how easy and quick they are. Test would be hard, but he allows a full page of notes. If you go to his review before the test you will do well. Class I felt was always funny
Brother Hansen was super super nice! He's extremely quirky and funny in his nerdy way. He knows a lot about science regarding climate change. He is super sweet and cares a lot about his students. Holds test reviews before each test to go over what will be on the test. Offers a lot of extra credit. I really enjoyed his class.
Brother Hansen is the man. His class is really chill and not super difficult. The assignments that you do in preparation for class are really easy to whip out and they don't grade them hard. The TA's do most all of the grading. Class attendance isn't mandatory. Highly highly recommend that you take him. Sweet class and it's always fun :)
Great teacher! I strongly recommend taking a class from him.
Brother Hansen is a great teacher who cares about his students. The class isn't difficult unless you don't do your assignments and skip class. There are a few opportunities for extra credit and he is willing to help you prepare for tests by doing review sessions outside of class. Homework usually takes me 15-30minutes.
Brother Hansen makes lots of jokes and uses fun object lessons to make the class more interesting and to aid understanding. He is a genuinely nice guy, and i learned a lot from the class. There may have been a lot of reading and writing each week, but the tests were easy since he had helpful study guides and did out of class review sessions.
Brother Hansen is a great professor. You can learn real stuff and get an A as long as you are willing to do the work. Plus, a few mistakes induced by accidents or laziness can be forgiven since his grading system is scientific.
He is quite en excellent teacher, very pleasant to talk with and quite silly. Just show up do homework, do the group work, the class will be easy peasy, he is quite friendly and will help you with things you don't understand. I enjoyed take his class and he made lectures silly with his analogies and some time use freaking awesome science example.
Easy A. Take the class!
Brother Hansen is super chill. Almost every class period you have a summary due which is about 2 pages most of mine were usually a page and a half and I got full credit. . He will have a test review some night outside of class. GO. He will basically give you all the answers and you can have a full page of notes. So not very hard just do the work.
He is an amazing instructor who cares about the success of his students.
Brother Hansen is a great teacher who knows what he's talking about. The class can get a bit hard because of the weekly summaries about the readings, but they won't take long after you write a couple. If you don't like lectures, then get prepared. The class has a lot of lectures and random graded questions each class period.
Brother Hansen is super goofy and at times a little awkward. However, he is still a nice guy that really wants his students to understand what is being taught and wants their success. The homework is not hard just time consuming. Overall, if you go to class, do your homework and all that jazz you will come out with a B or higher.
Brother Hansen is a good teacher! As long as you do the homework and go to class, you'll get an A. There is homework due every time, but as long as you do it and turn it in, he's not a tough grader and will give you points for doing it. It's a pretty laid back class and there are good discussions.
He is a great professor! The material taught in this class is so interesting and it will make you view the world differently. This class also strenghtend my testimony of the gospel.
This class was pretty interesting and the discussions were generally thoughtful. Teacher tries to include students. Lots of reading and daily assignments which can get a little dull, but generally useful material.
I got an A in this class but felt like he could do more for the students. The lectures were not helpful and we mostly spent time watching Youtube tutorials on how to do things. Hansen is funny and friendly, but not a good professor.
He is awesome! Super chill and willing to work with you. He is really relatable and I would totally take any of his classes.
He requires 3 papers over the course of this class, which is fine but the subjects are broad and that made it a bit difficult to know what he wanted us to include. The tests are a little too specific for my liking but he lets you have a 5x8 card.
Bro. Hansen is a great teacher. He taught climate change to us, he followed information from the textbook, but he explains the material in class very well. He helps people to think about good questions. I feel like he makes it comfortable to participate in his class.
He's a great guy, probably the best 105 teacher
Brother Hansen really wants you to succeed. You have a lab report due each week following each lab. You have to actually read the textbook and turn in summaries on specific chapters. You also have to do online problems and turn in your written work of the problems. There is a lot, but he tries to give you every opportunity to learn the material.
Bro Hansen is a little quirky but he is a great teacher and really helps you learn. It may be a little different at first but once you get to know him you will love the class
Brother Hansen rocks. The first few lectures were rather intimidating because I had no idea what he was even saying. But overall, I really enjoyed the class in large part to Brother Hansen's positive attitude. It's a four credit class, so of course there's a crap ton of homework. If you stay on track and come to class, you'll be just fine.
BROTHER HANSEN IS AWESOME AT HELPING AFTER HOURS AND DURING HIS OFFICE HOURS. GREAT ALL AROUND GUY WHO CARES ABOUT HIS STUDENTS. LOTS OF CHANCES TO OVERCOME YOUR TEST ERRORS AND IMPROVE YOUR GRADES.
Brother Hansen is very intelligent. He knows what he is doing. He really tries to help you understand the material and is willing to meet outside of class. I just had a hard time following his lectures and explanations so I felt like I had to really utilize the textbook and tutors for this class. He doesn't allow calculators on the test.
Brother Hansen was always willing to help any student that needed help. Really smart and passionate about physics, great teacher.
seriously an amazing teacher, I didnt think i liked physics, but he was very inspiring, and he made it a lot of fun. test reviews are awesome, and he gives half credit reworks for you test. He is seriously an amazing teacher.
Brother Hansen is very passionate about physics. He is great at teaching concepts but not the math. Tests aren't weighed heavily, so if you do the assignments and reading you should be fine. Definitely not a boring class, fun activities, interesting subject.
Brother Hansen is a really funny teacher with a lot of knowledge. He helps each student learn in their own way. Lectures are really fun to go to and you see physics in the every day world throughout the class. I wish he was teaching other physics classes so that I could take him.
Brother Hansen is awesome! He truly loves physics and knows it. Physics 105 is hard, but Brother Hansen makes it fun and easier to understand. He does everything he can to help students, like having test reviews and giving you the opportunity to do test corrections to raise your test score. I wouldn't take this class from anyone else.
Brother Hansen is a great teacher who is very passionate about physics. This is a difficult subject to wrap your brain around so it is nice to take it from a professor like Brother Hansen who is enthusiastic and very willing to help. He will put you on the spot which really motivates you to come prepared to class. It also helps you remember things
I have never met a professor that is more willing to help his students. This man spends many late nights going over test reviews and answering questing just to make sure that his students are going to succeed. He truly cares, and is incredibly willing to help anyone even if it means losing his lunch break.
Lots of homework, but easy(usually done together in groups in class), Labs are done in groups, groups switch weekly-biweekly, depending. Great professor, Hilarious, cares about his students, fair, gives you many chances to understand the material and make up what you do not understand. Individual tests as well as group tests and a group final.
Great teacher, hard class. But of the physics 105 professors, he is a great choice. He cares about the students and teaches what you need to know. One of the few classes I've had where time flies. I found myself wanting more time in class to do more practice problems. Felt more like a lab than a lecture at times which is perfect for me.
Brother Hansen is a really good teacher. Lots of small assignments to help boost your grade which can be helpful if you don't do well on the tests (like me). I'm not smart at all but I never worried about failing because he's generous with points. I can tell he genuinely cares about his students and wants us to learn, not just pass.
I absolutly loved Bro. Hansen. He was super funny, treated all of his students with respect and as equals. I'd consider him a friend now because he was so easy to get along with and interested in his students. Now the thing that you care about: The class (phys 105) really isn't that hard, and Hansen makes it all that much easier.
Great teacher, but not the easiest of classes. Be prepared to learn a lot and to work hard to do it.
You'll have to get used to the work load, it's a bit much at the beginning but by the end it won't be that big of a deal. I appreciated the way that we learned. Labs can be long but they're helpful if you're doing the work. Just make sure that you learn to understand the homework . That helped me the most.
There was a lot of work during the class but it translated into tons of points. I felt that Prof Hansen did a good job helping to visualize subject matter in order to help further understanding. Make sure to work out and understand the homework problems because it will pay off at test time. Put in the work and class isn't too bad.
Brother Hansen is a great professor. He requires a lot of homework and reading along with participation during class which can be really fun. He loves working with his students and wants us to succeed. He's really funny and has quite the sense of humor. I loved taking this class even though Physics can be really difficult.
Brother hansen is one of the best teachers on campus! the concepts are hard but he does a fantastic job of helping students learn them. He is super funny, class is never boring. if you put in some effort, you can get any grade you want. Lets you work together in groups and as a class all the time
Hansen is great, He really cares about each of his students and will do what he can to help you succeed. He does really cool in class experiments. lots of class discussion and teaching one another to really make the concepts stick. Summaries and the homeworks are the key to passing the class. Be ready to work hard, it will pay off. Take Hansen!
Hansen was a great professor. If you struggle, he will work with you until you understand a concept. He made the class interesting and fun.
Bro. Hansen was a great professor. Was always willing to take time to help someone understand what was happening. If you ever get left behind in the class it will be because you weren't willing to put in the time. Hansen makes the class interesting and you probably won't stop thinking about physics even after class.
Amazing teacher! classes are awesome. There are a lot of small assignments that are due throughout the week. but Hansen is amazing and really cares about his students, and willing to help them out. Would highly recommend him. There were several times he came back to campus late to help students study for an upcoming exam.
Brother Hansen is super nice and funny. However, he can be fairly unclear in his lectures. To me, it felt like a lot of "read my mind " instead of actual instruction. Physics in general is a difficult course, so I wish that the would have been more clear in his explanations.
Brother Hansen is an excellent physics teacher. He really tries to help you to understand the material and is accessible outside of class if you need more help. There is a lot of work to do in the course but he does that so you have a chance to make up for test grades if your tests dont go so well.
Brother Hansen is great! Physics is hard no matter who you take it from but Hansen really cares about his students and is very willing to give extra help if you ask for it. Attendance isn't graded but when you get behind it's really hard to catch back up.
He explained the instructions and expectations really well for all of the assignments and exams. This was a class about global warming. I had no idea what Bro Hansen's opinion about it was because he wanted to focus on the science and let every individual develop their own opinion without his bias.
Good teacher, and is very nice and wiling to help students out. He can be a little quirky at times, and at times he had a hard time helping students to understand what he is trying to say. If you do the work, you can do well. I'd recommend him!
Great teacher! I would take him again. you read a lot and do a lot of group work but its a good way to learn it. He lets you redo your tests to earn points back and then you take the same test again a week later as your final. He's quirky but engaging. if your an active learner take him. you like learning on your own, take brother Norris.
Physics 105 is a hard class by nature, but professor Hansen makes it much more enjoyable. He's always telling corny jokes and keeping the class entertained as you learn. Every class flies by. If you show up and put in the work, you'll do well. There's TONS of homework. Re-works available on tests. (Potential of 50% of test grade back)
Physics is generally a pretty challenging class to begin with, but this professor definitely knows what he is doing. Professor Hansen is a great teacher who gives his students plenty of opportunities to earn points in his class. There will be a lot of work and a lot of reading, but brother Hansen does a lot to help his students to understand.
He makes it interesting and engaging. He is also very funny and makes a lot of jokes to cheer up the class.
Brother Hansen is really enthusiastic about physics. you can tell that he loves what he teaches, and that enthusiasm kept me in the class. He is very lenient on grades because what is important to him is that you are learning. tests are there to test your knowledge, but homework is there to help you learn. there is a fair amount of reading and prep
Bro. Hansen has many good characters for students. He is very friendly, kind, and nice to each of the students. He is very kind enough to teach and walk through problems. His explanation is sometimes little confusing, but it could be because preparation is not enough. He is overall a great teacher.
Bro Hansen is a great guy. He wants this students to succeed so bad. He will do anything he can to help you. This class I thought was hard. Hard to grasp. Bro Hansen love his physics and it comes across in class. He lectures can be confusing at times, but he makes up for it in willingness to help. He came in twice at 830pm to do a test prep with us
He really wants you to succeed, but his lectures are a little hard to understand.
I love physics, but I hated taking this class from him. He's "quirky" and all which can be fun, but is extremely condescending if you reach out for help. He made me feel so incompetent for asking a question, which is the entire point of going to college - to learn. I ended up just teaching myself. Don't take it from him.
very good teacher. He has a pattern with the assignments and tests you need to take in his class. A chilled guy and he will help you if need it, but he won't give you your grade. A kind caring man. Not the best, but still very good.
Doctor Hansen helped a lot in explaining concepts to me during office hours. That made a whole lot of difference for me.
Brother Hansen is one of the best teachers I have had. He taught me concepts that I had never heard of before. And they actually stuck in my mind!! He repeated things that we were learning so often that they became easy for me to remember. There were a lot of papers, but I look back and feel that they were worth it. I miss Bro Hansen's class!!
Great guy, but the class is a dang science foundations class. Honestly a lot more work than my other core engineering classes. So much work. A paper is due every day before class, and on top of that, you have so many other papers. This class was not worth it. Great professor, bad class. Take another science foundation class.
It's a foundations class, and there was an incredible amount of work due. I came up to him after class once for help and he treated me like I was an idiot. He makes some insensitive comments about women in class. Wouldn't take again.
Brother Hansen is such an awesome teacher! I learned a lot from his class. He cares a lot about the students and genuinely wants you to succeed.
He's a good person, but not at all a good teacher. He's 'Quirky' but not really the good/funny kind. He will say two different things, and won't clarify which one is correct. I can tell he knows a lot about science, but he sucks at conveying the information to us. There's a schedule for assignments, and he's very easy-going about late work
Brother Hansen is really funny. You have to read a chapter before each class and turn in an outline of that paper during class. You get to choose your study group, but study groups are mandatory. It sound like a lot to do, but it is totally manageable! This class is way easier than other FDSCI classes! I would suggest taking this class!
Brother Hansen is a great teacher but his lectures are a pretty hard to understand and follow some times.
Brother Hansen is really good at breaking down complicated things into simple explanations. He's also really quirky and funny. If you do the daily readings and notes and show up to class, you will do well.
Brother Hansen does a great job of conveying different scientific topics. Most of the assignments are just there to help you remember information and prepare you for the class. Attendance is important. All in All a great class & professor
He is a fine professor the class is super easy all you have to do is write a summary for each class and go to the test reviews.
Brother Hansen is a really good teacher because he makes sure everyone understands the material before moving on. He also holds an hour long review session before every test which is really helpful!
Brother Hansen is a great teacher. During class, he's quirky and fun and makes it easy to understand the material. The class is pretty easy as long as you do the homework and come to class.
This class was fairly easy, but interesting. Brother Hansen learned my name quickly and I felt very comfortable participating in class and asking questions. He can be a little silly but stays on topic. I would recommend taking his class.
I loved Brother Hansen, he was a really fun teacher. My favorite thing was that I do the reading, and he would go over the material in class so that you would better understand it. Just do the homework, attend class, and you'll get a A. He does his best to help you get a good grade. I would take any class that he's offering.
He helps us with our homework, by giving us homework groups and also sometimes doing the homework in class. He really does care and doesn't give us too much work to do.
Brother Hansen is so caring and an amazing teacher. He is passionate about his field, and that translates into his interactions with students. He is super funny, and even though it says "get ready to read" and "lots of homework" it is really easy. You have to be prepared for class, but he helps you understand the material. It's great!
Brother Hansen really cares about his students and remembered all of our names and made himself available to help us whenever we needed it. There were textbook readings assigned before every class with a summary to turn in after class, but it wasn't excessive at all. We got participation points for answering clicker questions in class.
Brother Hansen is a great teacher. He is quirky, but that what makes class fun. Lots of visual learning. You do have to write a two page summary of the chapter before class. Homework quizzes are in group that way you can always get a 100 on them. They are pretty easy. All in all this class isn't that hard.
I loved this class! Brother Hansen is very passionate about science and makes it contagious. He uses the Learning Model principles and there is a lot of opportunities to learn from one another. I am a visual learner and I like this class because he always makes very graphic examples on class to help you understand the concepts. Totally recommended!
When I first signed up for this class I thought it was going to be a total nightmare of a class, but I actually ended up enjoying it way more than I thought. Brother Hansen himself actually cares about the students he teaches and wants you to succeed. He also says hilarious stuff all the time that I feel half the class never catches.
He requires a lot of effort, but if you find a good homework group and complete all the assignments you will do fine. He is pretty lenient with those who make an effort usually. Also he cares very much and tries to learn everyone's name by taking a video of everyone with their name the first day of class.
I really liked this class, Brother Hansen was a great professor and made a point to learn everyone in the class's name. Though there was quite a bit of homework the class really was enjoyable.
I really enjoyed this class! Brother Hansen is so funny and you can tell he really cares about each of his students. He organizes his class in a way that you know what to expect for each week. You prepare a summary on the chapter you have read for each class and you work on the homework in your groups. I highly recommend taking Brother Hansen!
He's a great teacher but he is a little confusing in class so try your best to zone in to his teaching.
Brother Hansen is amazing. He really cares about his students and he loves what he teaches. He is just a quirky fun guy who really try's to connect with his students. The course is pretty easy, we just had summaries and homework quizzes from the reading. He does great test reviews, and he just wants his students to succeed.
Brother Hansen has literally helped me so much. I struggled in high school with Science and never really understood the subject. I finally can say that I learned. Not just tried to pass tests. I will forever be in debt to Brother Hansen for thoroughly explaining science to me.
This dude is straight up hilarious. He is kind and forgiving, especially in grading. Actually teaches FDSCI 101, I talked to my friends taking other teachers and they don't learn half the things we do. You read the book and write summaries, and he teaches well in class for clear understanding.
Great Man. Great Class. Great Learning Environment.
Easy class, all you have to do is bring notes from the reading, low work load, funny/quirky guy, 10/10 would recommend, always available and willing to help students
Great teacher! Gives you many opportunities to receive a great grade.
Take Borther Hansen! He does test reviews before each test and lets you take in a note card into the test. You have a summary and homework quiz (can take it unlimited times) due every class but I would just complete it in class so I never had homework outside of class. Plus he wants everyone to do good! Can rewrite papers, and get extra credit!
He is a very kind, funny, and smart man. The worst part of this class was how we had to do so much writing for the homework. We had to write 3 essays based off a chapter of reading or some times in depth research. But it was a very interesting class and I'm glad i took it.
I loved taking Brother Hansen's class. The coursework is clear and organized. There's one two-paged paper summary of the reading due every class period, easy in-class points, two quizzes on the homework to complete with a study group each week, a test every two chapters, and a paper reflection on those two chapters to help balance out test scores.
I loved being in Brother Hansen's class. There is reading and a summary to do before each class period, but it is very beneficial for the tests. Science has never been my favorite subject, but Brother Hansen helped me understand material that was difficult. He made class fun and interesting! I wouldn't take this class from anyone else.
If you pay attention, you'll definitely learn everything you need to know.
Overall Brother Hansen was a fantastic teacher, he's grading criteria was clear and he was willing to work with students to improve or better their grades.
I loved brother Hansen and his passion for science. He really does care about his students and if you do the work if will be easy. Hes helpful and loves his job.
He is amazing and considerate of student's schedules. He is funny and opens up your mind to different ideas you may have not thought of.
His manner of speech takes a minute to get used to because he draws out the last word of each sentence wanting the student to finish it with the correct word. Beyond that He is great!
She is an amazing prof!
Bro. Hansen might just be the coolest, most sincere teacher you ever have. He is constantly refining his class to help students remember material long-term. He is way funny and really down to earth. There isn't a soul in our class that doesn't love him. You will have to work hard and be involved to get a decent grade.
he seems a bit bent over the fact that he's got a PHD. but otherwise he's ok
BROTHER HANSEN IS MY FAVORITE PERSON. The class was very difficult and I cried a few times, but he makes it fun and entertaining and is ALWAYS there to help. He gives you his phone number at the beginning of the semester and he will answer at 9 at night. I didn't know that until the last few weeks. Take advantage of it. He honesty cares .
Makes a hard class/subject a little easier through plenty of examples and fun in-class object lessons. 3 reading summaries due each week, and 2 homework assignments- may seem like a lot but they honestly prepare you for the test really well. Testing is you take it individually, then as a group a couple days later, then the "final" right after.
I really loved how open he is for people to stop by and get help. He didn't make me feel dumb at all for not knowing super basic things that I already learned but forgot. Class was very interesting and I enjoyed how he taught. He helped make it easier to understand such a hard subject. Definitely would recommend!
Bro. Hansen is a great guy. The class was ridiculous though, tests are extremely easy especially because he lets you take hand-written notes. He does an exam review with all of the questions and answers that will be in the test so you can not pay attention in class and still pass. There is homework for every class tho which is easy but annoying.
If you are looking for an easy A to fulfill the FD SCI courses, take this class. He lets you take an 8x10 note card into the tests. The day before, he spends a whole class period reviewing for the test and gives you all the answers. He is a nice guy and likes to get to know his students. He also gives a lot of extra credit opportunities
Bro. Hansen is one of the best teachers I've ever had because his course structure and way of teaching makes you learn beyond getting a grade. He simplified physics to make it easier to understand, and his goofy love for science is infectious. There are lots of grades which in my opinion is more beneficial than making tests the bulk of the weight.
Brother Hansen is an incredible teacher, he knows the topic so well and is always willing to explain things as many times as it takes until you get it. He really cares for his students and will push you to work your hardest. His exams can be pretty difficult, but he lets you have a note card. If you study hard, you'll do fine in this class.
There is a lot of points that he counts for, every day has participation, theres online HW as well as written HW, there are a ton of summaries, and you take 3 tests in each section of units, one on your own, one with your group, and one 'final' on your own. If you ask questions and have a positive attitude, won't be too bad.
Hes a great guy and pretty funny. I couldnt grasps his teaching style too well but thats just me, some of my class mates did great and understood him very well. If you do your homework and stay up to date you should be fine. He makes the test and they are fair, not too hard. I like the teacher but I;m just not a physics guy.
Honestly going into physics had me a bit worried. From stepping into his class Bro. Hansen made sure that you know he cares for you. Don't get me wrong he makes you work. Something is due everyday. There is homework, chapter summaries, lab write ups.... Non of it is horrible and the physics department ensures your able to get the help you need.
He is very good at explaining the concepts, but he doesn't go over the math that much. If you are good at algebra then you will be fine.
Brother Hansen went out of his way to enhance our experience in Ph 105 by showing us multiple, unique demonstrations to help us understand concepts. He's willing to help you outside of class, if you need extra help. He was one of the best teachers I have had. Brother Hansen is a genius, he talks fast. Come to class/pay attention to excel on tests
Brother Hansen is the man-sen. Physics is the worst. I absolutely hate it. But Brother Hansen makes it as painless as possible and he gives you lots of opportunities to get a solid grade in the class. If you do your homework assignments and come to class everyday, it'd be HARD to get worse than a B in the class. He cares about all of his students.
Reading assignments due daily. Online homework due 2x per week. Take 3 tests for every unit - alone, with group, alone (unit final). Has great stories, ask about the Jello car.
Buckle up and get ready for a lot of busy work. There are many writing & reading assignment that he doesnt even actually grade just if you turn it in you get points. Even though he doesnt look at them at all he demands that you do it in a very specific way. He will change deadlines last second and not inform anyone. He does hand out his cell so
Brother Hansen is a great teacher! Physics is super hard but he takes time to explain the material and he has fun ways to help understand it.
Great Teacher but a difficult class. Brother Hanson does set up his grades so that it is possible to pass his class, but you do have to work very hard. He understands that you are learning new principles so he will work with you, but he also wants you to work with your groups to understand the homework. Great teacher so take him!
Fantastic teacher! Made learning physics enjoyable.
Great professor. I would highly recommend taking PH 105 from him.
Brother Hansen is a great professor. You can tell he puts a lot of thought into planning his lectures and cares about his class. There is a great deal of reading and homework, but it prepares you well for the exam.
Brother Hansen is amazing. He is crazy smart and really cares about his students and will go to any extra length to help you succeed as long as you work with him. He teaches physics really well and while his homework seems annoying at first it helps so much later on. I would absolutely recommend Brother Hansen for any and all physics classes.
Brother Hansen is awesome! The class is hard, but hey, that's physics. Some ideas come easier than others, and some absolutely blow your mind. Brother Hansen made the class fun and enjoyable though. He can be easily distracted, but if the class is good then it's not a problem. The lab was often frustrating and confusing. I would take him for ph106!
The concepts in the class can be hard to grasp, but Bro Hansen does really well at using examples and object lessons to help demonstrate them. He definitely cares about his students, but expects you to put the work in as well. He does give you points for showing up to class, which helps your grade, just don't fall behind on the other stuff!
Bro Hansen is a dope guy, and does very well explaining things. the class is a lot to start off with but when you get in the groove things go smoothly. theres busy work in this class which is very frustrating, but it all works out. Dont get behind because things move at a consistent and fast pace.
I love Brother Hansen, he is an awesome professor. He really cares about your learning and understanding of Physics. The one bad thing which is very minor is he is scatterbrained. So lectures seem to bounce around a lot between power points and clicker questions. He does do a lot of Homework.
Great person, but probably wouldn't take him again if I have to retake this class! You need to summarize each chapter for the class and have written homework, which will be graded. Summaries can be long and sometimes useless. Not sure if it was worth doing them!
I'm not a fan of Physics and nothing came easy to me in this class, but Brother Hansen is so willing to help and take time out of his personal life for students. You should always go to class and participate as much as you can. If you do all the work and ask questions when you have them, you will pass the class. This class takes a solid effort.
Very scatterbrained and disorganized. Vague both in lecture and in expectations. On a whole the class is more bureaucratic than academic. If you check his boxes, then you will probably get an A, regardless of comprehension. Warning: no calculators on exams and the numbers are not clean. Homework is very time consuming.
Awesome teacher. Easy to tell that he cares about his students and wants them to succeed. It is a pretty heavy workload, but that's expected for a 4 credit class with a lab. I really liked how he designed the exams throughout the semester as well!
The class itself is challenging but Brother Hansen is always willing to set apart time to help. Very knowledgeable. The summaries take up a lot of time and you sometimes feel point-oriented when doing them, rather than actually learning the material. No calculators on tests but he's extremely merciful with his grading process if you show your work.
Brother Hansen is the best. This class may be tough for someone like me who has never taken physics before. So the concepts you learn in the class can be a lot. but Brother Hansen makes you love physics. He is extremely kind and helpful and will make sure you understand the material if you ask him questions.
Good guy, but his lectures weren't very productive and the summaries were mostly just a waste of time.
Great teacher, made the class very enjoyable.
Brother Hansen is amazing, he wants his student to succeed and is willing to help you in any way. Physics has always been a hard subject for me but he made it bearable
He was A great professor. He had us write a lot of summaries and did a lot of homework, but it helped us get prepared for the exams. Overall, amazing class.
He is a little scattered, and has a decent amount of what i thought was just busy work, But he is a good teacher with a passion for physics.
Bro Hansen has a unique, quirky but funny personality. It is charismatic and you can tell he cares for your learning and understanding. I'm not the brightest, I got an A just due to diligence.
Great teacher, truly cares about your learning experience. Hilarious and knows how to make things fun!
Brother Hansen is a good professor, and explains difficult classes really well. Definitely one of the strangest people I've ever met, but he's a good guy.
Brother Hansen has such a good heart and is always striving to improve his class, but he is also quite scatterbrained and tends to get off topic. He loves physics and wants us to, but I had a hard time with him not always teaching us how to do a problem because he thought he was taking away our chance to learn. The Concept tests helped me a lot!
Bro Hansen is really awesome! He's quirkiness is what makes him so likable. He is great at interacting with the students to help them understand the material. I thought he was very helpful for my foundation understanding of physics.
I'm still gonna be in the class until April but Brother Hansen is a great professor and an even better man. He took my group and I out to get Tacos in Sugar City. It was awesome! No calculators on tests but he prepares you really well. If I could give him a higher rating, I would.
Took 123, not 220. Don't listen to the 105 students who gave negative reviews. They will probably never even think about physics for the rest of their schooling. Brother Hansen is a teacher for the engineers and the physicists. If you are a physics-based major, would recommend; you'll learn a lot.
I really like Hansen! The class requires a lot of work and being on top of things but I had a very good understanding of the material, class structure was perfect for me. Hansen is super awesome very kind and always makes sure you're understanding things.
Brother Hansen is a a genuine guy that cares for his students and for their success. He is willing to help and is an merciful grader that is willing to give you the benefit of the doubt as long as you show your work in his class! I would 100% recommend him to anyone that is taking physics and wants to laugh through the class and learn a lot!
Prof. Hansen is a great guy who really cares about his students. His class is engaging, and he's willing to help if you put in the effort. Definitely use the free textbook and check out unstuckstudy ai for extra study support. Totally recommend this class!
Class every day, but not really hard
Brother Hansen is amazing. He is super funny. Participation in class is huge, though he technically doesn't grade on attendance a lot of the necessary information is given in class and not on canvas.
Brother Hansen is a great teacher. He explains the material in a way that is easily understood, and cares about the student's success. He likes to put everyone into groups to promote learning. His lectures are fun, and he likes to joke around sometimes. Overall, he is a great professor, and a good man.
Brother Hansen cares a lot about you passing! He does everything and anything to make sure you understand each topic. He's very funny and makes class very entertaining! would recommend taking his class
Brother Hansen is a really great professor. His syllabus is at first a little interesting, but it makes sense once you get rolling in the semester. He gives extra credit for things that have little to no importance to physics, but are important to life, like dating! He also is good at bringing up gospel insights and relating them to physics.
He is super good, and I would recommend him to anyone. You will learn a ton.
Great Professor, in my opinion, he is one of the better ones in the physics department, especially for the earlier courses. I would definitely consider taking another class from him. One thing to note is he does like 3 different exams for one unit, in some ways it's really nice.
He does a great job a making everyone feel included. The class environment is warm and open. He loves cracking jokes The group work is super helpful to get a good grade. He is very lenient with the exams. He sets you up for success in the class. If you take advantage of the resources that he provides you will pass with a good grade.
Brother Hansen is a great teacher, he does truly care for and love what he teaches and can really connect with students on that level. One disclaimer is that he does have a tendency to have incorrect due dates on assignments and will abruptly change the due date even if it would then make the uncompleted assignment late when it originally wasn't.
A good mix of lectures and class work. A decent amount of homework but plenty of time and support to complete it on time. Stay on top of things and there's no problem. He's very willing to work with your situation and helps make accommodations if needed.
He is a really great professor and you can really tell that he knows his stuff well. He gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit, and he actually cares about your grade. He might seem scatterbrained at times, but all of his tangents are actually useful or at the very least, interesting.
He's a great teacher and explains the material really well. He helps you understand how you can use it real life and with future employment. You will have many opportunities to participate and class and share what you are learning with your peers. He doesn't look at canvas too much, so the grades show up late as well as assignments
First off, I strongly recommend attending each lecture, because Brother Hansen does a pretty good job at simplifying tough concepts you read in the online textbook the night before. Also, before tests, he has a TA go over the practice test to help you get to know what you should know for the test. He is also very passionate about physics.
Brother Hansen is very funny but sometimes it can come off strong, besides that he is very well versed in Physics and can teach you most any concept you wish. Great professor to learn Physics!
Honestly an amazing professor. I took his PHY 123 (principals of physics 2) course and absolutely loved it. He can get off topic sometimes but always pushes us to work together to solve problems. Brother Hansen has a hilarious sense of humor and drops dad-jokes left and right. He is very generous in his grading and exams can be taken as a group.
He clearly explains every concept. Although he may go off on a tangent from time to time, he always relates it back to the topic at hand. Every exam we took had ample time to prepare, and he makes sure we understand every concept. The homework isn't too much and is used more as a time to practice the physics.
He teaches the class well. Beware his humor, but applies the physics well to really world applications. He encourages working with groups that makes the class a lot easier. It was a good experience.
Brother Hansen is a solid guy, which shows in how he runs his course. His Lectures and assignments are always upbeat and get the central ideas across in a way that provides clarity and real-world applications for the topics covered in class. Homework is precisely what is covered in class, and the exams are fairly reasonable.
Bro. Hansen is a super cool teacher. He is very good at explaining subjects and very helpful. The cadence in his teaching and speech makes it easy to understand the work. I never felt like we were rushing through topics. Just make sure that you do the assigned readings as they are graded but are a huge help. the homework is super light.
Great guy, the class he runs is very simple but expects a lot from you. Be prepared and its a good time. He also makes class a blast
Brother Hansen is entertaining. I really don't have anything negative to say about him, well aside for his bad puns that is. The final was a group test, but if you didn't show up to the work days he'll have you go to the testing center and do the group final. Overall, he's pretty cool.
Brother Hansen is a great teacher. Do the readings, show up to class, be a good group member, ask questions and you will be fine. He did have you take the exam, then take it again with your group, then take another final exam on your own. It isn't a bad thing because that means you don't take a comprehensive final, just something to be aware of.
He expects you to read the content beforehand to prepare for class. He is very funny and cares for all of us personally. There isn't much homework, but the exam make-up for it as he has us test the same test 3 times. I highly recommend him!
Brother Hansen is an excellent teacher. He is willing to work with you individually if you come to him for help, and is willing to be flexible if you need to turn things in late. Lectures are good, and there are some extra credit opportunities. Brother Hansen's explanations and lectures usually make sense, and he's always happy to answer questions.
I really enjoyed taking PH 123 from Brother Hansen. He is a funny and well respected guy. I would retake a class by him in a heartbeat. The course was challenging but he made it fun to come to class and will help you individual if needed.
Brother Hansen made this class worth it for me, even when I was struggling he was always there and willing to help. I felt like I could talk to him about anything, and he was genuinely concerned about my well-being. He made sure everyone was understanding the concepts and was comfortable using them on practice problems and preparation for the exam.
You will work in groups, but everyone is expected to work over everything individually before hand, so it's a lot of comparing results. Brother Hansen has a sense of humor that I really enjoyed, but not everyone might. His humor isn't inappropriate, but could be called dad humor. He's an excellent lecturer and teacher. Always helpful.
He is an amazing teacher, and I would take this class again. He is super understanding and will help outside of class any time you need it. He really understands his stuff.
Good teacher, super smart. Test's where difficult.
Amazing Professor. I was is always very aware of assignments and projects due date. Very understanding, and a good grader. His style of teaching in my class was to lecture some days, and then have whole days of doing problems. I would have loved to practice doing problems with the assigned lecture that day! A very Christlike person.
Great professor. A page of notes was due before every class based on the readings. Helps you do the reading but not always applicable I think. Good sense of humor. Knows his stuff. Has a tendency to leave some sentences unfinished which kind of leaves you on the edge of your seat. Group exams are a part of your grade.
