Really easy class. Everything is on the study guide. No reason to not pass the exams. Class always starts late. Homework almost every week, but easy. IF you do not read, he will have a surprise quiz for you. No essays, only for the group project.1 book review only with 2 pages. Class is really boring, sometimes it is really interesting. 3 exams
I had Professor Wade when he first started teaching at Delta he's a very knowledgeable Professor, but he required University work in his World History class. On every test we had key terms to remember as well as two essay questions that required a thesis, 2 to 3 body paragraphs and a conclusion. We also had to do a huge project on a entire empire.
I actually took this class by mistake my fall semester. I planned to drop it but ended up falling in love and taking the second course (30B) my spring semester. Professor Wade is my favorite teacher. He is so clear and easy to understand. The assignments are easy and he grades easy. You will learn a lot. You don't need the textbook. TAKE HIM!
Not enough + ratings here! He is an informative & helpful teacher. Class is mandatory. Do the readings, take notes, & pay attention or you'll struggle, hopefully not fail. Answers ARE NOT online since it's all from the readings & such from class including tests. Take the class. GOOD professor, understandable coursework, everything is good. Go.
Professor Wade is a very knowledgeable teacher, but his class is extremely boring. He doesn't make the experience interesting, especially with all the essays. This is a history class, maybe English 1A should be a prerequisite for this class. He knows his history for sure, but he still needs more experience in his teaching it to others.
I had Professor Wade for the HIST 2A World History class. It helped out that he gave a study guide in before each test which usually had the reading study areas. There is a group project associated with the class usually with a civilization (Maya, Byzantine) which he grades based on individual work and the presentation in class.
Professor Wade is one of the premiere professors at Delta. He knows his stuff very well, but in order for you to pass, you have to think deeper than you usually would. He requires you to use your brain and not give simple answers. You have 3 tests throughout the semester and the class is so simple, if you do the work you'll pass.
African American history is an interesting topic, great teacher, very directional, and uses time wisely. This combined with his grasp at the passion of the subject, and I'd say he is a very resourceful and reputable professor possessing quite a bit of historically confidential knowledge. Group project requires deep thought and organization.
Professor Wade is exceptional. Through his lectures, history comes alive. Although this class might seems easy at first, Wade really expects his student to think deep. Don't do mediocre work, as it will earn you a poor grade. Tests require in-depth response. Wade is always open for visits during his office hours. He truly loves his job.
Great lectures, great guy. Makes history interesting because he really loves it & a real approachable teacher. Great history teacher
Great lectures show his passion and makes it interesting Homework and tests were not hard Would have passed if it was not for the group project that tanked me and dropped me to a C Take during the spring during black history month to get extra credit Make sure to get the easy part of the group project!!!!
Professor Wade is absolutely wonderful. I took two of his classes and am signed up for a third. He is very clear and passionate about what he teaches. He lays out what he expects of his students and encourages them to actually think. If you don't understand something, ask questions because he will definitely answer and try to help!
Wade does a good job explaining major historical content. His class was not all that difficult and was relatively easy. There are three tests and he drops the lowest score. There is also a group project which he grades individually which is better that projects in the past. Other than that reading is minimal and expect little homework.
I've taken two of his classes. He is an amazing professor with a lot of knowledge on the subjects he teaches. He really wants you to think outside of the box and deeper than the text. He does not offer multiple choice on the test, but it's an easy A if you attend class and do your readings. I highly recommend him.
Wade is an awesome teacher. Took him for history 17 A and later for 17B. Got A's in both. He gives great lectures and always keeps your attention. My ONLY complaint, is that in 17B, he had just published his own secondary textbook, which cost 50+ dollars and we barely used it in the class. Could have gotten an A without that book. Great teacher tho
Professor Wade was one of the best professor I had yet. He is caring and he is willing to work with you if you work with him and show him you actually care. Amazing discussions, lectures and he is filled with knowledge. Definitely my favorite.
He teaches sequences and concepts. Not so much dates and events. Open note quiz in class. Everything is in DocuShare on day1. Book and lectures are equally important. No extra credit. Optional assignments. Participation impacts your grade and learning quality immensely! Very approachable. Ask!
Where do i begin? Professor wade is an amazing teaching and very knowledgeable. He truly cares for students and offers Cultural education points which essentially is equivalent to extra credit. Show up participate and be responsible with your studies. I am seriously considering to take his other history classes because they're very informative!
Mr. Wade is one of the best teachers you can have. He's not going to give you an easy A, but there should be no reason at all to have less than a C. Take the class with a friend, show up, take good notes, and you'll pass. He'll give you a study guide that tells you what will exactly be on the test, and he goes over the study guide with you.
Professor Wade's class is not for slackers, but if you put your best foot forward, you will succeed. Not only does he teach about black history, but he's also passion about serving our (the black) community. He listens to students, knows what he's talking about. Just be aware that he doesn't appreciate bull and comes late to class often.
Professor Wade is a great teacher. His lectures are not boring and his exams are straight forward. Do good on your first two exams so you can drop the final. The book was important but the previous edition will do. If I needed to take another history class I would take him again.
Mr. Wade is great! He is a very engaging teacher that is passionate about history. His lectures are very engaging and he expects you to think on a deeper level. This class is definitely not an easy A. Engaging in lectures is all apart of your participation, plenty reading, hw, & answering questions in every little detail you can for tests/hw. GL!
He is SUCH a good teacher! I loved taking his class! You can tell he actually cares about what he teaches. You do have to read and attend class to take notes to do well on the quizzes which are multiple choice, true false, and an essay question. But overall the class is super easy. Definitely recommend.
Not boring, great lectures, extra credit, and great study guides that cover everything that is going to be on the test. He is not an easy A, however, he gives a clear path to get one. However, he as REALLY bad handwriting. I mean, they might as well be hieroglyphics. Still, great professor.
Professor Wade is one of the best teachers I've had. He's very knowledgeable on the subject and will help you if you need it. Be prepared to work and study though!
You will use your textbooks a lot in his class. He gives 3 test, the 3rd one being your final along with 2 essays you write in class that goes with each test. 2 big projects due; 10 minute group presentation and a 3 page final paper. You will read a lot in his class for homework and if you don't he will give pop quiz. Does give some extra credit
Professor Wade is passionate in what he teaches. You must write everything he says and writes in class. His study guides cover everything that will be on his tests. He's easy to talk to and understanding. Your participation counts in his class, so if you know the answer say it. You won't regret taking a class with him at all.
Professor Wade is truly amazing! His lectures are thorough and amazing and he helps you understand History in another way! He allows the class to have ope debates about topics which really engages the students. He makes it clear that he's teaching us US history (Native Americans, African Americans, Asian Americans), not just EuroAmerican history.
I took Wade for African American history. Pros: Very good professor I really learned a lot, funny, keeps you engaged Cons: poor handwriting, projects and one book review, can be a little boring but I took this class at 8 am. He's a great professor but the workload is a little heavy but a good amount. I'd take him again
His class is easy if you pay attention, but be aware that it is VERY BORING. His lectures make you fall asleep. He might crack some jokes but sometimes they aren't funny. He has bad hand writing which you can barely read it. Also you have to keep track of your assignments yourself because there's no calendars that has the due dates.
If you're black, take his class. No racism intended- but he's definitely a professor that will treat you differently based on your race. He also doesn't take any opinions other than his. The class is extremely boring, and you need to study a lot to get a good grade.
This instructor was absolutely fantastic. Great lectures, provides ALL test study guides well in advance (as well as final). Quizzes are easy!Research essay is easy and so is the oral presentation. I highly recommend this teacher! Easy to talk to and gives great feed back! Read, do your study guides and take notes! No surprises! Straight forward.
Wade really makes you work for your grade. You get what you earn. Learned a lot about AA History from his class. Good teacher, but goes on tangent sometimes. Only one group project, but if you fail, it drops your grade a lot. Grades super tough.
Professor Wades class was sort of easy to follow. Its a little hard to understand some things he says but he will repeat. The study guides are always more than youre tested on. Tests are two parts, one part is an essay.
Wade was a fair teacher. Tests were simple if you read the study guide and did most of the work. The content shown was easy to digest, and overall the class was straightforward, getting an A isn't easy but there's a clear path to one. He does have this weird late policy that he himself doesn't follow though.
Professor Wade was upfront with what he expected from his students. Everything in this class was super straightforward. He does tend to be late quite often. His quizzes are just a reflection of what you read so READ. Youre provided study guides for the tests, I strongly urge you to use it. Theres no reason for anyone to fail his class.
This class is one of the best class I have taken. He makes you understand the topic you guys are talking about, and opens up a new perspective for me. His test are based on his study guide, so if you do the study guide you will pass.
do not take his two hour late staring class because it can get so boring and will make you not like history.
Do not go into this class expecting a normal history class! Professor Wades class is HEAVILY focused on race. I cannot stress this enough, RACE RACE RACE. But his tests consist of key words, short answers and 2 full essays. The essays can be very difficult because you need a really good thesis and conclusion. There is also a final research paper.
I strongly suggest people not to take Mr E.W History was my favorite subject but after taking his class I now really hate history ,felt like It was in A English class doing essays for all 3 of his tests , and there not that easy! he's really the toughest grader I've had so far! So if you're looking for an A ,you better start looking elsewhere .
Worst class ever I had, super hard, no powerpoint all based on his virtual lecture, all the test contain 2 written essay. At the end of the semester, a 5-page essay is due. Felt like an English class but it must be harder than that. Never recommend this class, hard to get A.
Worst Teacher Ever, I would like to refer people not to take his late class or even normal class. The class is easy but he will make it hard for you. He gave you tuns of work, and need every single detail for it. He is a tough grader. He will blame you for no reason. You can never get A+ in this class.
Wade was an awesome professor. He makes you very engaged in lectures, took his late starting class and he gives out 3 exams, he drops lowest exam grade and also drops lowest quiz grade. On quizzes he lets u use notes on exams no, but! For everyone who said writing essays on the exams were hard are stupid bc obviously they NOT college ready.
He was unorganized and had very unclear guidelines on assignments but overall he gives his students many chances to improve their grade like extra credit and dropping your lowest test score.
Professor Wade drops your lowest test score, and provides decent feedback. Otherwise, he does not accept any perspective that is not his, and makes you feel stupid for it (in my experience). Most of the content that was presented in tests were not covered during class. Some lectures were also confusing.
He has a lot of reading but very few home works in the class. He is a critical grader though he can recongnize mistakes as fast as a computer. His lecture are high energy especially if you sit in the front. I would see him before any major assignment so he can gives you details.9
Took a late start class and it was somewhat difficult. Lots of homework and reading because of it. Despite that, if you put in the effort and do the readings, the class is easy. Professor Wade is one of the most passionate professors I have ever met. He really shows his love for history. Class had 3 test including the final, drops the lowest score
You do have to work for your grade in this class. Very informative class for me. 3 tests, he drops lowest one. Study guides include exactly what is on the tests-flashcards make it easier. Tests progress in difficulty so do your best from #1. Prepare to write for exams. Presentation and essay were easy as long as you put in the work. Fair grader.
Wade is very passionate about what he teaches and makes the class genuinely interesting. All the coursework, projects, and tests are outlined right from the start, so you shouldn't be surprised with anything. However, you have to do a great deal of work for the class and it's not an easy A, even though it's straightforward.
he made me into history all over again! amazing and very fun to listen to, his voice is so powerful in my opinion never was bored in class. lots of studying to do but literally everything thats on tests is on the study guide! so just study off that guide, make sure you know what to write for the essay questions beforehand. great professor
Professor wade was cool, took it in the summer, in the first two weeks it was reading heavy but after it was mostly studying, read little sections, papers, and study guides. Good feedback on papers, only reason I wouldnt take this is I hate reading, other than that solid professor and would say it was a fun class to take
He was pretty easy, pretty average honestly. His lectures get boring but he's very straight forward about what you should know. the test is short answer and essay questions so you have to know what you're talking about to pass. pretty good overall.
Modules are mostly reading and taking notes. you will take notes from the book, his podcasts, and from YouTube docs. You take a quiz every time you read from the textbook, & get 3 tries per question so its super easy, I just skim through the readings. theres 1 big research paper in the middle of the course DOES OFFER EXTRA CREDIT TOWARDS YOUR FINAL
summer class so 16 week course in 6 weeks. There was a bit of work seemed like a lot because of time compaction. He communicates and gives feedback. I don't agree with everything but he is engaged and intelligent. I would take Professor Wade again, preferably in person, because I am sure there would be some good debates with him.
Professor Wade is the kind of teacher you want if you desire to learn. He is passionate about what he teaches which made the subject matter even more engaging. He requires a lot of work, especially writing, but is very straightforward about what he expects and gives plenty of tools to help you succeed.
Although Professor Wade has strong opinions on history (and the assigned readings tend to align with his views), he promotes questioning and disagreement. The classwork was generally easy as long as you are a competent writer. Lectures were disorganized and he jumped from topic to topic instead of covering the material chronologically.
He does not provide instructions on assignments. This is the hardest college course I've had to take. He does not tell you when textbook assignments are due, so it's a lot of last-minute checking. Posts assignments late and all at once for a single week. I do not recommend taking this professor, this course was unnecessarily difficult.
I took his online summer class and had a love hate relationship with it. His lectures were very interesting and he is very organized. You can tell he is very passionate and I love how he teaches the unspoken side of history. The only downside I would say is his class if very time consuming and you have to put effort in.
Do not look any further. Professor Wade is hands down one of the best Professors I've had so far. Plenty of Extra Credit, Organized, (do not count on To Do on canvas, go to course and click on week you are working on) lectures are recorded if you cannot attend, and is ALWAYS available if you need him. One big research essay but nothing too hard.
Overall he is a good professor, he gives good feedback on papers but he is very lecture heavy. It says in his syllabus the lectures will be 50 minutes but always go over. Also, lectures are at 7 PM at night which is very inconvenient for a lot of us since we have a job.
Wade was one of the best professors I have had so far. On Monday of each week, he gives a to-do list of what we have to do every week. Each week he gives us 5 hours of work. He does have tests but they aren't worth much. He has one 4-5 page paper but that's about it. He has mandatory zoom meetings that you have to attend or watch a recording.
His class is very accessible and is set up the same way each week. The due dates are always the same and were never confusing. He is very passionate and educated which makes lectures interesting. Notes on lectures and readings are VERY important in this class.
Great professor, easy to get a hold of and answers fairly quickly. The only negative thing I can say about this class was the grading. I had to be on top of my grades because it would take a while on some work to get graded in a timely manner.
Definitely would recommend Professor Wade as he is very helpful and provides much guidance throughout the course! He gives lots of extra credit opportunities that you can do to improve your final exam point value. Also, when it is February, he does many activities for black history month. Overall, the class flowed nicely and was not too hard.
He is the worst professor Ive ever had. Tough grader and gives you so much homework!! You barley have time to do other classes homework because of how much he gives you!! Take another professor, he isnt worth stressing about.
He is passionate about Black History, he shows how much he enjoys he career in every lecture. He has a very organized system in place and actually teaches you a lot about writing an essay, I learned more about essay writing in this class than in English. He is a very tough grader and pays close attention to detail.
He knows his stuff, great lectures but he wants things done a certain way or else. His TAs grade harshly over the most trivial of things. He opens the class at random hours on Mo,no consistency - only online class ever to do that. Discussions, a final, a research paper and weekly assignments, no midterm exam. He loves the subject and can teach it.
Ok prof but at the end the grading was rushed. I received the research paper rough draft grade the same day as the actual research paper grade! So no way to fix it according to the comments in the rough draft as we had already turned in by then the final draft...Final consists of two major essays and 9 minor essays plus 9 mc ?s. Grades harshly. UGH
Don't listen to the bad reviews. Professor Wade is passionate about what he teaches and as long as you meet the assignment requirements, he will give you a decent grade. He also provides amazing extra credit for the final and overall is a good professor to take. Attendance is important in this class.
There is about 2-3 assignments a week, mostly discussion posts. A lot of work towards the end of the semester seemed rushed, a 5 page essay and a one page paper with a 10min presentation. The only thing I really didn't like was the TA's. They grade so harshly and take many points away for things that don't matter, they made my grade go down a lot.
The professor gives good lectures. The TA's grade everything, very badly. They think they're cool and take off points for no reason. Don't take this class because the TA's ruin the experience. If it weren't for the TA's I would like the class. DON'T TAKE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET BAD GRADES FOR NO REASON!!!!!
Professor Wade is a really good professor. The difficult part of this was writing the 5 page essay. The final is pretty difficult you have to write at least one page essay and have a paragraph for about 10 different questions. Overall he was a good professor but the TA's were harsh at grading. I recommend taking him.
Be ready to write. You will have a lot of notes and a paper that's worth 15% of your grade.
He is the worst professor I promise. He takes so long to grade assignments. when you reach out to ask anything he won't respond. TA's have to be the most inconsiderate graders & you have to do more than what's asked for a decent grade. He is lecture are never on topic and go over 50 minutes. pick another professor. not worth the stress or grade.
Grades are put in very late. Does not communicate back fast at all. Took points off of my work saying it did not meet requirements and when I ask how or why he never responds back to me. Required phone calls weekly and when I called he continued to interrupt me. Not very professional. I do not recommend this professor at all.
I enjoyed taking this class, it taught me a lot about black history and time management. Although the other responses conplain about TA's they only docked off points if you didnt follow instructions or it was obvious you didn't put in the effort. Professor Wade is understanding. I do wish the grading was put in faster, but everything else was good
TAs are the worst, they take off points for no reason and never give you full credit even if you followed the instructions very carefully. No wiggle room for any grade changes at all so once a TA grades your assignments it's over with, nothing can be said or done to change that. Overall, one of the worst history teachers I have ever seen.
Professor Wade an excellant professor who brings alot to Delta College. He had a guest speaker who told traditional stories that just blew my mind. You will be a richer pearson in your soul for taking his classes. There is a lot of work in his classes and he is a tough grader.
The TAs are tough graders. The professor himself is understanding and lenient but the TAs are more harsh when they grade. Sometimes they take points off and do not explain why they deduct points.
The homework isn't hard but he does assign MINIMUM 6 hours worth of work per week. Lots of discussions & lectures. No tests yet but I think there will be a final exam. He's very passionate & understanding. The hardest part about this class was time management & the essays - gives you weeks but has to be in specific format & TAs can be tough graders
Lack of focus on content in papers and more so on simply formatting.
Absolute Horrible, do no listen to any of the positive reviews as it is clearly passing bias. I passed the class with a %93 and he was horrible. His TA's are horrible, and the professor himself doesn't care about what you say or your actual work but rather takes his TA's words directly. He has unrealistic expectations and is just a pain.
He let his TA's do all the grading, rarely responding to any emails or messages sent to him.
Evan Wade is a great History professor. There was A LOT of work to be done, lots of reading as well. He is great help for pacing assignments. The only problem, he has assistant teachers who are VERY strict graders. Besides that, Evan Wade himself is very easy to get into contact with and very understanding. Would 1000% take him again.
Professor Evan Wade provides great instruction. However, I would like to see him do better with grading. In many of the papers that we wrote in his class, I was marked down for using AI, which is not true at all. Maybe use a better AI checker professor wade.
He overworks you too much. If you want to have a stress free semester then don't take him. The amount of assignments he posts in just one week is insane and he works you like robots. Not worth it. Don't take him.
Evan Wade does not grade any assignments he lets his TA do everything He has one Zoom meeting every week and the most boring thing ever he keeps talking about slavery even though there is more to us history than that. he cares more about the format of an assignment over the information. the final is 3 hours long with 30 paragraph response questions
At first he was a charismatic fella. Not only are they mandatory but half of them are about slavery. I want to learn about U.S History not the history of slaves. His final is the worst thing ever with 3 essays and 50 short answers and his TA gave me an aneurysm please god cant help me. No other teacher does this but I guess he hates his students.
His lectures are the worst thing I've ever experienced. Over an hour long with slavery as the main topic for US HISTORY! I want to learn about US History not slaves and then every lecture is mandatory. No one wants to be there, especially on a Tuesday evening at 7pm. Then his TA is the worst grader I've ever seen and doesn't even grade properly.
Beware, if you see any good ratings, its probably because he let them pass as he is a weirdo. He would be a nice friend but as a teacher I get a brainrotted from his lectures. Every single tuesday in a mandatory lecture he either talks about how we were formed or, slavery, slavery and more slavery until I become a slave of his lectures. Dont take
He is a nice and charismatic professor who cares about teaching but his assignments and homework are the worst. Not only am I flagged for AI without reason but the lectures are all mandatory. Please do not take this teacher as he overworks you and makes you feel like Caseoh is sitting on your back eating food while asking you for more food.
all he does is talk about slavery 24/7 even though there is more to us history. Worst TA's and he only cares about the format of the paper and not the content itself.
THE ONLY THING HE TALKS ABOUT IS SLAVERY IN HIS LECTURES THERE IS MORE TO US HISTORY THEN JUST SLAVERY. HIS TA'S ARE THE WORST. HIS AI CHECKER IS THE WORST. HE IS THE WORST TEACHER NEVER TAKE HIM.
worst teacher
ok umm I'm taking him currently, technically the reviews are right but he's not horrible though. Like idk the homework could be less, and he has mostly talked about slavery no doubt in that. my grade is good so that's all that matters.
Take another teacher he is not that good compared to the others in terms of easyness.
Professor Wade is extremely strict about his rules. Also, his "AI detector" does not work, he marked my work as AI when it was my own work.
ai detector does not work he just flags u for ai even if you wrote it.
This is the worst course I've ever taken in my 4 yrs in college. The amount of work for this class alone equates to a full schedule. He assigns absurd projects/assignments with no regard that students take more than just his class. 0/10 recommend this course to anyone especially if you are taking more than 1 class. Take something else if you can.
Dope class and dope teacher. I learned so much and was empowered. I don't even care what my grade is at this point, I love that I learned so much. It's alot of work but he also provides lots of opportunities for earning points. If you don't pass it's because you don't want to. The final is hard if you don't prepare early. Start prepping ASAP.
He has no consideration that students don't just take his class. Even if you write your own he flags you for ai. A lot of unnecessary work. Very unreasonable
This class was very informational. u have to put in a lot of work to get a good grade. I faced false AI accusations by his TA Daniel, and he didn't believe me when I showed proof. In the course the textbook is ~$50. One big paper, and a big final exam. Do the study guide before because u will regret it if u don't. prof himself was good, ta was NOT!
All he talks about is about black history. He barely cover other topics is history. He does not grade and let's AI do the work, which does not work because I literally wrote it myself. When ask why my work is AI detected he does not respond for weeks. Had to call the office why he's not responding and he got upset, and retaliated me by failing me.
If you signed up for the class just drop it. Pls… looking out for you from the bottom of my heart.
What is there to say that hasn't already been said? This guy is hard for no reason. I do not recommend at all, save yourself the pain of taking this class.
Prof Wade, I know being strict ain't bad at all but this is like too much. You should atleast focus on what students are trying to say maybe that makes your course better. This course has been my worst nightmare. I JUST WANT TO CRY, I FEEL DEPRESSED. This course is really gonna snatch my DREAM SCHOOL!! No consideration to efforts doomed my FUTURE!!
he is so unprofessional~
The Awful comments don't lie but the Awesome one do !!
A lot of work every single week, he expects you to spend multiple hours a day on his class throughout the week. He has given me zero credit on multiple assignments accusing me of using AI when I wrote them both myself and when I emailed him about it he was not responsive. The final is unnecessarily difficult. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
Not a good Professor at all. Tough Grader. I gave it all in my Final Research Essay and gave me a zero out of 100! Don't recommend this teacher at all! And You have to pay for textbooks
Horrible experience w/instructor. This was US Hist. Talks about slavery all the time every chance he gets only extra credit slave related or African American related. I felt so uncomfortable. I wouldn't take this class if you paid me. Beginning seems ok then ignores emails and does not answer your questions. Acts like it's Harvard. Don't Take!!
Awful!! I am a teacher and would NEVER use A.I.!! He accused me of using it twice in this class to compose papers. One of these two was our final so he gave me ZERO out of 100…. NOT OK! I tried to discuss with him and show my work but he would not meet. Unprofessional. Why are you in this profession??
I really want to say that I like him as a professor and up until about a week ago I certainly would have.I was about a paragraph short on the final paper and he gave me a 32/100.When the average for your final is a 42 and the final paper is 38 do you even want your students to succeed?Maybe I did okay overall but the numbers on that make me wonder
This professor seems to show favoritism towards certain students, which can affect grades unfairly. It's perceived that once you fall out of favor, it's challenging to receive a fair evaluation in the class.
He was not a difficult teacher in my experience. He has a few extra credit assignments and allows you to make up every assignment you miss. There is 1 essay (only 4 pages double spaced) and a final exam, both of which he makes very easy. (He gives you questions to exam before it starts). He responds very fast to messages. Overall, a great teacher.
Idk what to say about this Professor, the past ratings shows everything. Okay, if you wanna risk your GPA, you can go and take this Professor. I really regretted taking this class, and his extra credit isn't very liable, no one has a free time to visit a museum or some Halloween place. Anyways guys, Good Luck with it!
The class has a heavy focus on slavery, which can get repetitive. The professor is charismatic, but the workload is intense with mandatory attendance and an AI detector that often flags students unfairly. However, Unstuck AI proved a helpful study tool alongside the textbook.
Do not take this class unless you have an absolute passion for U.S. History. The amount of work was almost unbearable if you are taking other classes and/or are employed. He assigns multiple assignments per week. You have to be ready to LEARN! However, he is passionate at what he does and gives a very thorough teaching of U.S. History.
Awesome guy, do the work and you'll do great. He isn't that harsh of a grader at all. His zooms were cool, I actually learned a lot and you can tell he really cares that his students learn and do well.
Do not take this professors class. He is wish washy. His assignments are very confusing and just not made streamlined. Papers are broken up into segments making it hard to fully understand what the paper assignment is. He does not talk much about U.S. history, his curriculum is mainly Black History and its atrocities. Definitely a BLM teacher.
uses a unreliable ai detector
Professor Wade is not bad at teaching; he is pretty good. His teaching makes a lot of sense. I did all of my assignments, used good grammar and punctuation, spent hours doing my assignments, and he said it was AI. He gave me a 0 on around half of my papers because it detected AI. An unreliable AI detector and always incorrect.
You know that one scene from Mean Girls with Regina writing in the burn book? Yeah that's how I felt the ENTIRE semester. When I tell you I got flagged for AI on my FINAL ESSAY? And he graded it the 4 days before semester ended, and then barely responding, not hearing what I used in my essay. Yeah, hard pass, have to take this class again. Thanks!
horrible teacher only talks about slavery in his history class and his ta's grade very harsh and his ai detector never works he just flags it and gives u a 0.
I was really disappointed with this class. The teacher seemed unprepared most of the time and didn't explain the material clearly. When students asked questions, they were often brushed off or given vague answers. It felt like we were expected to figure things out. Overall, it was a frustrating experience and I didn't feel like I learned much.
I think Proffesor Wade is cool, he does give out a good chunk of work but as long as you really study and stay on track, its an easy pass. Take notes!
This professor ONLY talks about African American slavery and ignores everything else like the Native Americans didn't get enslaved. His lectures are mandatory, unfunny, make me want to be Helen Keller when I listen to his lectures. Extra credit is useless, grading is harsh, and the class feels more like AP African Studies than U.S. History.
He gives unreasonable amounts of work, and grades as if it is an Ivy League school. The majority of the class is spent on learning about the Slave Trade. He assigns multiple reading/writing assignments per week. It is like an AP class, but without getting credit for it.
If you want to use AI, or can't put in any effort, don't take this class. He is a passionate teacher, he cares that you learn what he's teaching and is willing to help if you ask! There are a lot of assignments, but most are easy and fast. I'm confused by all the harsh ratings. He was fantastic, I wish I could take more of his classes.
Literally the worse teacher I've had and the most stressful course. It's as if he thinks we don't have other classes or something and him and his TAs grade like we are at Harvard or something. Will give you HORRIBLE grades on your finals for miniscule reasons. only teaches about three topics, and shoves a thousand assignments down your throat.
He has favoritism against students.
Professor Wade is great. What I like most is how fair he is and how does not play favorites. What you put in to the course is what you get out of it. 11/10
If you are looking for a professor who is easy to reach, communicates with his students, and is fair with his grading, this is NOT the professor for you. I promise you he rarely responds to his students emails, he uses an outdated ai detector and if even gives you 1% match to ai he will give you a 0. He is not easily accessible and has favorites.
What I found most difficult was the amount of work. He takes a long time to give grades, which makes it hard to know if you're doing well. The course has 3 units, but I believe it should be changed to 6 units, so students wouldn't commit to other classes, since the minimum for a full student is 12 units.
This professor was horrible. He never responds to emails and grades papers like a 6-year-old. Bad. He also racially profiles students and is discriminatory towards those who are of European descent. My friend was profiled by him, and he constantly gave her a hard time in class. Best part is, she's not even white, she just has light skin Mexican...
This professor never responds to emails unless you approach him. Not only that but he assigns so much work and never grades on time so you won't even know what your grade is until the end of the semester. Every time I submitted an assignment he either gave me a zero due to "lack of stats" or asking for the resources used. He is evil and horrible.
This professor is horrible. He gives you a lot of homework and not grade your assignments until final week so you are not sure what your grade is. When he detect any Outer source in your assignment, he will contact you saying "Hey" what outer source did you use? Email me , when you email him he will not give you reply.
Took LAW 16 during Fall 2025. This class is definitely what you make it into. We have weekly discussions about current events especially regarding law, but you DO have to put in the work on your own end. Consisted of check ins with Professor Wade, a chapter presentation, portfolio of notes, and an internship that he assists with. Overall great guy.
I like the way he speaks and how he shows the other side of American history. However, he is quite difficult to deal with, as he's not clear about assignments. Also, he doesn't keep his promises, like giving feedback. If he had shown from the beginning, I would have dropped the class during the add/drop period.
Overall, he's an ok person. He does engage with the class through the zoom. Yet, he is a tough grader.. Plenty of work assignments, He wants plenty of information when writing essay's. You must follow the grading rubric, He finds something missing or incomplete. Or not done to his liking. I would never take this professor again.
Difficult but doable! My fav class and Professor :)... ever! I can't believe the rest of the reviews tbh. You just have to see for yourself. The class is what you make it. You are responsible for your success in this course. Stay on top of the assignments + pay attention. The material is SO important and applicable to life. Do not miss out!
