I am a Real Estate student and have no interest in finance, money markets, capital markets or anything of the sort. Adomait, however, provides great information as she is a fountain of knowledge. She presents ideas visually with graphs, which are appealing - but can be unhelpful to some. She knows her stuff and she makes my experience easier.
She expects us to understand everything that she's saying even though she skips major components when she's teaching. For example, she will draw a graph and add random numbers and you won't know for what they stand for and where they really came from. Had a hard time following her lectures and was more confused when I would attend her classes.
This could be a hard lass, however if you attend lectures, you should be fine. Adomait is interesting and funny in lectures, which makes them not seem so bad. If you attend lectures, she gives you what will be on the midterm and final. She's always there to help of you need it.
I don't know why everyone complains about her. This is university, her job isn't to spoon feed it to you. Yeah you have to read the textbook and work. She is really smart and her lectures are interesting, sometimes it takes you a few minutes to follow along but she asks if anyone has questions. Prepare to work hard and you'll get a good grade.
She's all over the place with most of her lectures. Sometimes doesn't follow whats going on in the textbook. Also teaches at such a fast pace that you will always be behind when she is teaching her lectures.
Not a fan. She teaches material her way or the highway, and if you don't understand it (which is common with her style), that's too damn bad. I requested notes in advance on a guest speaker's presentation that I would miss due to major surgery and she replied, and I quote: "that's a shame, but it's not my problem". Just awful.
If you dont have to have Adomait, dont. She would be an amazing upper-year prof, but the way she explains things to first year econ students is extremely confusing. Tests are so hard, but you can make up for it with easy weekly quizzes and short essay (marked by students). Lectures are confusing, reading the text is more effective.
Knows her stuff. If you do not understand, ask her to re-explain and she will do a great job. Very well thought out, but be prepared to take a lot of notes, and to read your textbook.
I can't understand anything she's talking about because she doesn't explain it! she just draws random graph thinking that we all understand whats she's talking about.
horrible teacher. very unclear lectures. had to learn most content on our own.
Adomait is a good prof. Yes, this class is "hard" but that's not because she is a bad prof, it is just due to the actual context of the course. Econ is a difficult subject no matter who teaches it and personally, I think Adomait does a great job at doing it. She is clear in her lectures and she is always open to questions and re-explaining.
I read a bunch of the negative reviews on Adomait and was really nervous about going into her class, but I actually really liked her! I found her lectures easy to follow, but reading the textbook chapter beforehand is helpful too. She is great at explaining things, and as long as you keep up and come to class, you will do fine
At the start of ECON1050, I did not care for Adomait whatsoever. I thought she was very pretentious and rude. However once you get past her quirks you quickly see that she is a brilliant economist and lecturer. I certainly had to work at her class, but I arguably learned more in her course than any other first year business course I took.
Awful Professor. Majority of the in class lecture is completely irrelevant. You're better off teaching yourself from the textbook. Her exams are also brutal. I studied like crazy and attended SLGs and my mark was not very good.
One of the best classes I've taken. She is very smart and respected by the school. This class has no textbook and no courselink slides - MUST GO TO CLASS TO PASS! Lectures are interesting and concept and graph based rather than math. Amazing mock arbitration event for part of your grade with a Toronto law firm. Dedicated to her students! 10/10.
Exams do not at all reflect the level of difficulty of the content learned in class. All mock tests given are relatively useless as they are much easier than those that are actually given by Eveline and just provide you with a false sense of confidence while studying. Eveline also forces purchase of her book although it is rarely used.
You have to buy a book (which is a poor summary of the textbook) she wrote to complete assignments for these classes, if that's an indicator to her demeanour as a prof. Although she does make an effort, it's fairly minimal and I personally opted to read the book instead of going to lectures and did pretty well in these classes, so you can do that.
A really interesting course and she was super passionate about what she was teaching. In the class we got to work on a sexual-harassment grievance case and got to meet with real lawyers in the field (there was even meet and greet afterwards and free drink tickets too). Not often do you get such a hands on experience like that in second year!
At the beginning of micro, I was petrified of her weird smile. At the end of macro, I'm still scared of it. All kidding aside, once you accept she's a little weird, you realize that she's an amazing prof. She explains content thoroughly, and frequently checks to make sure everyone is okay. I wish she'd teach a bit faster, but I'm weird like that.
She flies through the topics in class and her writing is virtually unreadable. I don't like her at all. Her midterms does not reflect the level of difficulty in class, they are way harder.
Bad prof, looks for reasons to make sure kids dont succeed, also doesnt do a good job explaining a question if you go talk to her after class. All around terrible prof.
Evie bases her lectures on the assumption that you've read the chapters first. If you don't do the readings beforehand, you might as well skip class because you won't understand a single thing. She doesn't take time to recap what was learned, but instead enhance the chapters from the book. Midterms and finals are extremely difficult, beware.
A couple easy assignments for a mark boost. Hard exams. So many graphs.
She gives very thorough and detailed lectures, but you will still need to read the textbook to do the quizzes. She makes economics interesting, and there are multiple ways to get marks (exams, quizzes, and the letter assignment). Getting a good grade and actually learning is doable if you put in the work!
Needs to teach in a better way. Not many of the concepts are being understood well in class by many people.
She is by far the worst proffesor that I have ever had in my life. Her lectures are so hard to understand and she teaches too fast ! The course content is abstract and the exams are always brutal. I have had her for micro/macro economics and industrial relations. She teaches us as if we are proffesionals when we are just students .
Adomait creates our midterm and final exam. They are completely unfair and do not reflect the mock midterm and mock final. I am able to easily do these mock exams however I failed the real midterm. Adomait has an attitude about her that indicates she wants students to fail. This course has a very high fail rate. Maybe something needs to change?
This course sucks. No textbook and no online notes so you have to go to every class to pass. Tests involve writing a 5 paragraph essay in 10 mins. Adomait makes a lot of mistakes in her class notes so be prepared to have things marked wrong that she taught.
The entire point of teachers is to TEACH you and help you succeed, quite honestly, I don't think Adomait does this at all. I and many other students found she was too harsh and at times unreasonable. With that being said, she is not a bad person. Her lectures are definitely better than the other teacher at UofG that teachers econ 1050.
The worst prof I ever had. She teaches so fast, It's really hard to follow her. I witnessed her finishing 2 chapters in one lecture.
She makes you buy a book that she wrote in order to do assignments for the class. She does not lecture very well and flies through the content of the course. The finals and midterms are really hard and are not reflective of what you actually learn in the lectures. The textbook will save your life because you have to teach everything to yourself.
Alright so this is what happens in ECON1050 and 1100. She makes you buy a book that she wrote (plot twist not the textbook!). Write a paper about it and the have it marked by peers. So she gets a personal cut from every book sold and does not even look at these papers. How is this allowed lol? Sincerely, I want my money back.
Lectures involve her flying through content/talking about herself. If you aren't good at math or following content quickly, the lectures aren't great. Stopped going to lectures and started teaching myself from the textbook after the first midterm and my mark rose by 8%. Study off of MEL graphs and the textbook for the exams, not the lectures.
Makes you buy a book she wrote to do an assignment (apparently it's not a conflict of interest). She covers maybe 1-2 basic concepts from entire chapters in lecture and then tests harder than any of homework or practice questions provided. Take any other prof or just be like everyone in her course & buy the textbook and teach yourself the course.
Adomait's Lectures were not beneficial, often drawing graphs and expecting us to understand it. She makes an introductory class very challenging, and is not very accessible outside of class. When asked for help, Professor Adomait was not willing to provide help. Wouldn't recommend Professor Adomait to any University of Guelph Student.
Very difficult and condescending
You're gonna spend $178.50 for ECON 1050 on textbooks, so be prepared for that. First day of class, she took a girls clipboard, ripped up the paper on it, and kept the clipboard. Her reason was "you look like you're here to employ someone". I've never seen such a disrespectful, stuck up teacher like Eveline Adomait.
Very condescending when someone asks her to explain things again. Moves very fast and gets off topic. In class went on a tangent about how she doesn't like to drink juice. Also ripped up someones paper on the first day and confiscated their clipboard.
You have to buy a (bad) book that she wrote and then write a paper on it that is graded by your peers. That alone should be enough to not take her classes
Everything in this class seems to be working against your chance at succeeding in it.
I did not enjoy this class at all. Very hard to understand especially for an intro class.
Doesnt care if you succeed or not. Terrible lectures with little to no context
She likes to tell a lot of "stories" to describe a concept but never actually stops to give a black and white definition of the concept beforehand, leaving you scrambling to try and figure it out while she breezes through diagrams way too quickly to follow. Note taking is very difficult at her speed. I just taught myself out of the textbook
The worst prof in the world. So rude and not helpful at all. Makes me upset how rude and condescending she is to students, almost like she hates us all. Made sure i dont ever have her again wow she is just terrible never take her ew ew
She has a bad rep at Guelph and for a good reason. Very bad prof who teaches by drawing 10 diagrams per class, and barely explaining any of them. Its clear she is knowledgeable in economics, but not in teaching material in an INTRODUCTORY class. "Teach yourself with the textbook" - best advice you'll get if you have to take her classes.
READ THE TEXTBOOK. Best advice you'll get. you will have to teach yourself the entire way.
Difficult to follow lectures. Prepare to teach yourself completely from the textbook.
Lectures have almost nothing informative about them. Just teach yourself out of the textbook or go to the other prof's lecture because you won't learn in her class.
My experience was awful in this class. Adomait's lectures are useless. Unfortunately I dropped the class because I felt as though I was bound to fail, even after reading the chapters, and trying my absolute hardest. I decided I couldn't teach myself a course that I had no background in at all. DO NOT TAKE (if avoidable).
She's not a good prof, also makes things unnecessarily hard
Makes you buy her books. Enough said.
Never attend any of her lectures. The biggest waste of time. She thinks she's funny... She's not
Dont bother coming to lectures, this is a "teach yourself course". Her notes are pretty trash tbh, be prepared to JUST pass. enjoy the course :)
honestly explains economics very very well, yes she could be tough
She's tough but she's very thorough and an incredible economist. Honestly, she's been teaching for 20 years and knows her stuff. Show up to lectures and read the text if you want to do well.
Although friends in this class were not a fan, I did not mind Adomait. To start, sign up for the real estate case comp, show up to most classes and you're given 15 percent free, rare in upper year classes. Firm but relatively fair. Exams are a lot in a short period. Lectures are done well. Frequent guest speakers. Good prof.
She is a very tough grader and her tests are extremely hard. Be prepared to just pass to class and this yer she made a rule where basically she makes you fail the course.
Absolutely terrible prof. Don't go to lecture she doesn't help at all.
The worst prof I've had, makes the exams unnecessarily tough.
Adomait doesn't have a great reputation at Guelph, but don't let that scare you. If you enter one of her classes open minded, willing to read the textbook and practice, you will be just fine! I would certainly suggest attending her lectures (it definitely helps to read the textbook chapter first) as they often give clues for midterms/exams!
She not good
garbage
Doesnt explain concepts and expects you to understand as she rushes through 20 chart examples a lecture. Even with reading the textbook beforehand, it is extremely difficult to keep up and take proper notes. Your time would be better spent reading the textbook and doing practice quizzes online, her lectures are pointless.
Simply put, this is an introductory economics class. However it felt more like I was drowning in work to stay afloat. The midterm is advertised with a 50% average every year. However, the book assignment and MEL quizzes will be your lifeline (weighted 20% together) as they are easy 80's in this course and probably the highest mark you will score.
Contrary to popular belief, not an impossible course. Lectures are difficult to understand but very helpful. Don't bother reading the textbook, use khan academy instead to teach yourself. Overall do well on the quizzes and assignment, prepare for a difficult midterm and final.
Prof. Adomait's Econ1050 class was probably the hardest class I have ever taken. Be prepared to make your own notes and spending hours outside of class studying as she only draws graphs in class. I failed the midterm pretty badly, so if you don't have to take this class I don't recommend taking it with Adomait.
This professor made this course WAYYYY more difficult than it needed to be. Going to SLG classes was more useful. Attending class is not necessary as she does not help you explain anything. This class is hard enough, and made the exam almost impossible to pass. Weekly quizzes were nothing like course material. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!
This was the most overly challenging class I have ever taken in my life. I left every single lecture upset and confused, her teaching was extremely confusing and nearly impossible to follow. Since i wasted my time attending her lectures, I didnt have the time to re teach myself the course. Absolutely awful.
The material covered was not too difficult however she did a poor job at teaching it. Went strictly off in class notes which were very unorganized and sometimes incorrect. Also gave little/misleading info on what would be covered on midterms and the final. This was the class I attended the most this semester and by far the worst grade I received.
Pls for the love of god, do not take this class unless you absolutely have to. The prof legitimately said, after a god awful midterm average to "drop the class, because you will do worse on the final". Absolutely the worst teaching style and prof, she scribbled graphs on pieces of paper and gives you no guidance. Rely on the textbook. dont do it
hard class, no lecture slides, just draws a million things and expects us to know what it all means. USE THE TEXTBOOK to teach yourself it really saved me and is much clearer. Also try to get 100 on all quizzes they are unlimited attempts and is worth 10% of grade can help a lot. Do not need to read her entire book she just wants you to. goodluck
Adomait is an awful professor. However. Economics was pretty darn easy. It was my highest mark last semester and is very straight forward. Did not need the textbook so save your money. Also dont read her god awful book bc you dont have too. Youll do fine dont even worry. Ps this is not a troll im just a genius
Not a good prof
econ is hard, she creates detailed overheads in class which helps to avoid information overload. found her handbook interesting and a different and useful perspective to think of the WHY in econ opposed to WHAT alone, encourages thinking. constantly moving, will make time to help in office hours or after class. takes and answers questions.
Terrible lecturer! She doesn't teach anything new, only repeats things learned from intro macro. She gets annoyed when she can hear people talking even though the class is pointless to go to. If you ever want her to get avoid a question simply state "can you do a numerical example to show this easier?" and watch her dance her way out of it.
I wrote a review that was deleted, by Adomait I am assuming. Terrible prof, does not care about her students, intentionally makes exams with trick questions & gives super strict & tedious assignments. Makes you buy her own textbook so she gets $. Exam averages are always in the 50s! Hundreds of students have complained yet no action is taken by UoG
Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, she has decided not to cancel or alter any part of the course. Many classes have already cancelled their final exam, Adomait has not cancelled the 2nd midterm of the course on Friday April 3rd 2020. Even worse... she has also decided not to cancel the final exam (CUMULATIVE) that is SIX DAYS AFTER the midterm.
They way she delivers content is incredibly unorganized and past lectures and notes are non accessible. During lectures, she just talks and draws graphs with some examples without structure or plan and does not elaborate enough on the actual textbook. She also exploits her students by making the book she wrote mandatory for the class.
Going to her lectures were an absolute waste! I would never recommend her to anyone. I literally taught myself everything by reading the text book by myself. She made both the midterm and the final impossible to complete within the given time.
Had her for ECON1050 and ECON1100 and both classes were pretty awful. Lectures make no sense, learned more from the text and the tutor I had to pay for on top of the tuition for the course. Adomait might be better for upper level econ, but definitely not intro. Don't bother with lecture, teach yourself or get a tutor if you have to take this course
Adomait solely uses graphs and pictures to teach along side oral comments. Graphs can be effective but when they are used alongside no other words or definitions it creates lectures that are very hard to follow which is why I stopped showing up. Also she makes you BUY A BOOK SHE WROTE in order to do an essay. Not sure why this is even allowed.
Worst prof I've ever dealt with, we never knew what was going on. My friend has failed her class twice & is attempting to take this class for the third time in order to graduate from her program. I came out each exam w/ pounding headaches because of how confusing & overwhelming her exams were. Wish this wasn't a requirement for business programs.
You need to actually do the homework and pay attention. If you do, you'll be fine.
I had taken economics in high school and read her book, her course outline and all material give for each chapter and still felt lost. She was not helpful didnt provide lectures. Her book was no help but was mandatory to purchase. I have never felt to helpless in a course. Also her pass rate is very low.
Not helpful. Assigns work right before essays are due and midterms. Online meetings get nothing accomplished and she doesn't explain the material.
general conversation she is a nice lady and I felt comfortable talking to her at all times! Unfortunately her class is crazy hard she brags about how many people fail it. I wake up at 5am and work till 10 stoping for about 2 hours a day to eat and repeat everyday. learned this course completely on my own and she was no help. Mental health horrible
Horrible... dont take her course she is money hungry, makes you watch listen to her pointless pod cast in order to pass the exam that are all 45 minutes long... the dark side of Guelph is held inside this class
Learned the entire class off of khan academy, barely passed the midterm after studying for 2 weeks solid. You need to have at least 5 hours a day, including weekends, set aside so you can teach yourself everything. Anytime I ask for help, she tells me to contact course link support even tho it has nothing to do with online formatting issues.
The midterm and final exam are worth a lot in this class. She just posts all of the lessons online and has podcasts you need to listen to that are each 45. She gives 50 tries per quiz which is a fair amount. Be prepared to do a lot of work but if you keep it up you shouldn't do that bad.
Online sem and for the first time ever she assigns group work when it is so hard to meet. Makes students read a book by her and watch long podcasts. Barely teaches herself, I used youtube for everything. I studied a week, 12hrs daily and got bare minimum on midterm. Online school hard enough and this course gets ur mental heath at all time low
Doesn't give lectures, only youtube videos, and you must read the textbook to pass because you have to teach yourself everything. Exams are worth a lot but still have so many assignments. The midterm was extremely hard to understand also very long and ended with a headache because of it. I had to teach myself all of the content.
Since it was an online class I didn't have a chance to listen to lectures and don't know her lecture style. However, the course has weekly assignments and got somewhat annoying as there was no break from learning econ when I already have a full engineering course load. Doing the weekly assignments will definitely allow you to do well in this class.
Her lectures are a waste of time and couldn't retain anything from them. I learned the whole course myself with no help except for the textbook which was confusing and very long. She makes you pay for her own book and listen to her own 12 podcasts... Gives you 1 mock final and midterm to study off of and they are NOTHING like the actual tests.
I just finished the final exam and it was one of the hardest exams I've ever written. I don't understand how she can make the exams worth so much when we have to spend so much more time on the assignments, group projects, and essays. I don't recommend this professor.
She's good with helping you out if you have any problems. Since everything was online this semester, there weren't any lecture notes. Get ready to read the textbook. the book she wrote also kinda helped. However she only gave 2 hours for the midterm and the exam (100 qs). That was not enough time! literally had no time to think about the questions.
the worst prof ever. she doesnt care about the success of the students and has such a low passing rate. her exam was 2 hours long with 100 mp questions which felt almost impossible to finish. at the beginning of the sem she said students should feel extremely stressed for her exam and midterm. im pretty sure she wants people to fail. the worst.
Doesn't teach at all
Adomait doesn't actually care about her students at all. Her lectures are boring and she talks a lot. Get ready to read your textbook, that might be the only way you actually do well in her class. And the midterms are really hard, even for people who studied a lot.
If you pass her exams, take that as a win, she gives basically no time to complete them. She would give short and unhelpful advice when you asked for it, but had no problem writing paragraphs explaining why we had to use the lockdown browser, and somehow related it to the fact that she was stressed... One of the worst teachers i have had.
Do not recommend her at all.
I honestly don't understand why students are so hard on Adomait. I found her a very good professor. She answers questions thoroughly, answers emails fast and always gives extensions when students ask. Just because the class is difficult and the content is hard does not mean she is a bad professor. Hard work and hard professor are different things.
Lots of people fail this class, isn't too hard if you study. 75% of your mark is based on midterm and exam. Makes you buy her book, write about it, and do a group discussion on it (pretty narcissistic). Does a good of making due dates and assignments clear. Most of the work felt like a waste of time as it's all weighted towards 2 tests.
I couldn't ever get myself to like her because she seemed so involved with promoting her own lackluster teaching material. Constant self promotion between her book, podcast and even promoting her own twitter page left a bad taste in my mouth. Also the grade allocation of this class is wild having 75% come from the midterm and exam alone
This class being online was very challenging as you had to pretty much teach yourself the entire course. If there were online lectures it would be different. Adomait is a kind and fair person, but I dont believe this class ran the best way for students to learn this semester. The YouTube video she posted each week and q&a seminar was not enough.
Honestly, I found her to a fair professor for the most part and I took both micro and macro. While it was online, she gives lots of extensions and answers her emails fast. The tip I would suggest is to read the textbook to do well in the class and really review for her exams with the mock exams she provides. You can get an easy 70% with effort.
Honestly one of the worst profs I've had. Some students and I didn't understand a question so we asked her in class and instead of explaining it she put us into breakout rooms to solve it amongst each other, (even though we said we tried to do it together). Then she felt annoyed when explaining. She also thinks a 50 average on an exam is good.
This was a pretty tough class, especially the midterms and finals. The questions on the exams were never really taught in class. A good mark is possible if you go to extra office hours, and do all the practise questions. Adomait is a really great person and gave extensions on assignments. It was really the course material itself which sucked.
The dislike toward this prof is absolutely justified. The exam was ludicrous because of the emphasis she put on her vapid book. Mandates use of her book and podcast to write an essay you are already equipped to write, thus you are penalized on all fronts for not reading it. Ironic, as she frequently touts that economists don't care about money.
I don't know where to start with this woman. She's probably by far the worst prof I have ever had. I stopped going to the lectures because it was a waste of my time. No teaching, draws graphs with no context, and discourages her students. "If you get less than a 40 on midterm then I suggest you drop the class" Who says that? Shes not worth 160k/yr
great prof, don't know what's wrong with these people.
Adomait's lectures are useless. I attended the first two weeks and she made me so confused. If you take her class - don't go. Just do the unnecessary amounts of reading. She is narcissistic and loves to ramble and draw a million graphs on the same page with little explanation. I would take any other prof than her.
This was the most unenjoyable class i've ever taken. Not only is the content super difficult but the teaching was so terrible that it was not even worth going to the lectures. Would have saved a lot of time by learning from youtube instead of her. The weekly quizzes take so long to get a decent grade and they do not help with the midterm or exam.
Worst class Ive taken. Weekly quizzes were nearly useless for exam and midterm. Lectures felt rushed, textbook did a better job than her. Essay had to be based off her own book, and the instructions were virtually nonexistent. Did not explain terms she used in lessons.
Only really cares about herself and her book. Have to read her book In order to do well in the course. Weekly quizzes took so much time to do well on. Lots of reading of the textbook. To do well also watch videos
I don't understand the hate this professor is getting. If you go to the lectures, read the textbook you should be good passing her class. She is super friendly and really helpful, always answers in class and is super quick to answer emails! I loved her class!
This professor only cares about the success of those students who are already excelling in the course!! She does not care to help the struggling students at all and instead encourages people to drop the class if they get below a 50% on the first midterm - like please, who says that? The title "prof" is way too big for her, the TA's are better.
Focuses on teaching the context of the book she authored (Cocktail Party Economics) instead of the textbook by Pearson used by various COMPETITIVE universities in Canada. It takes one search on Google to find out real reviews of her book (not from students), an overall average of 3/5 - a rate that would convince no one to invest in it. Trash
Reviews are definitely spot on with this one. If you are taking this course please do yourself a favor and take Pat instead. He is so sympathetic and genuine cares to provide the education needed to his students. Important content you learn - wrong prof for it with Adomait.
She does not deserve all of the hate she gets. Yes, she can me a hard marker and does not seem to care a whole lot about her students. But she is very smart and explains things well in her lectures. She also answers questions in class which is helpful.
Lectures don't help at all.
Class midterm is worth 30% and Final is worth 50%. No hate but all hate:(((
evil eveline
Absolute horrible professor. Doesn't prepare you for midterm.
The worst
80% of final grade based off midterm and final. draws graphs in class v. quickly with no context. abbreviates everything, doesn't tell us what abbreviation means and will change her abbreviations. seems to just show up to class and start saying stuff, its very hard to follow what shes saying. better off just studying from textbook
Horrible professor. Makes you buy her books for assignments (seems unethical). Better off teaching yourself the course from the textbook than going to her class.
Her being an economics teacher I don't think she gets the cost of time. The workload is a little heavy for a first-year course. For some reason she thinks the Cocktail Party Economic Podcasts should be used as sources for an essay assignment when all they do is go off topic for 80% of the episode. Very narcissistic and in denial w.r.t her book.
Doesn't actually give lectures, only draws graphs which don't help on the midterm/final that are worth 80% of your total grade. Doesn't care if students understand the material or not. A good talker but not a good teacher. You will have to teach yourself the majority of the material in a very short period of time
All the learning comes from YOU reading the textbook and there are no lecture slides. University of Guelph really needs to look into this professor because she does less than bare minimum. I urge you to avoid if possible.
Only uses graphs to teach, using short term for everything making it hard to understand.
If you're a good studier then this class won't be horrible. Stressful that the midterm and exam are worth 80%, but you can fail both and still pass the course. Easy lay out but the material is difficult.
She prides herself in her class being really hard and a lot of people failing. I had to take this course and I did well, but I dedicated so much time to this one class. My advice is to read the textbook and take notes every week (5+ hours weekly) go to SLG's and ty to ignore how mean she is.
Ngl Adomait gets a bad rap but she's not bad. Her lectures can be interesting if people contribute and she does a solid by recording one lecture a week with all the hard stuff so there's no classes on fridays with her. The course content is hard so I wouldn't take it as an elective but if you do the readings and go to class its nothing crazy
I hated this class so much. Her lectures I found myself not going to because there was nothing to learn from them. It was only graphs and you could not read her writing. She barely explains anything and you learn the course yourself from the textbook. I had a double credit course and the workload compared to this course was nothing compared to this
makes my life miserable asf. also she needs to wipe that smirk off her face. doesn't help students, would not recommend her class it made me wanna kms going to her class
The course material isn't very difficult. Weekly quizzes and essay are easy grades. If you go to the lectures, take notes, and study the textbook before midterm/quizzes and you'll get 70-80% in the class. A lot of the grade is weighted on Exam and Midterm, but the content of the tests is highly predictable. Not a fan of the use of CPE.
She is the worst teacher I've ever had. Your final will probably be 50% of your grade so make sure you don't fall behind. GOODLUCK if this is your prof.
Be prepared to learn nothing from her lectures, you will get the same grade if the course didn't have a prof and she doesn't want you to succeed.
ECON*1050 was a very hard course, and Adomait contributes to that heavily. She is simply strict, and the way the course weight is distributed means that you have to do all the busy work she assigns, or else to midterm and final will be very difficult. Unless you know you love econ, this course might be not fun for you.
Evie's in-class lectures are just scrambles of graphs that don't help later and she always looks so aggressive BUT this class is not as bad as people say it is. My advice: do good on all she gives for extra credit (MEL and CPE). Some people on here do nothing and complain they failed. You can easily pass if you try.
The course is not set up for you to fail but is also not designed for you to be successful. The lectures were very poorly conducted. Unclear graphs and messy writing made it extremely difficult to follow. The use of CPE on the exams had irrelevant questions to actual economics material. You will end up having to teach yourself.
Adomait has a lot of bad reviews because people want easy marks, but she's not that bad. Make sure to do well on the MEL and the DIs, but the exams are not too bad either it's a lot of common sense.
The lectures are terrible and filled with graphs that never make sense, but she does give the opportunity to do okay in the course though the use of MEL's and digital interactive's. As long as you put in the effort to get 100 on these there is a good chance you will at least pass the course.
The lectures were not useful at all since it was all scribbling graphs, with 90 multiple choice questions on both mid term and final in total of 80% of the course which seems rediculous especially for first semester students coming from high school, but honestly in a way I guess it is good since it will help us become successful for later semesters
She does not explain anything well, the lectures are boring and if I could I would never take this course again.
Seems like a nice person, was always helpful (extensions, technical difficulties), would crack a few jokes during lectures. Lectures are repetitive and barely correlate with the weekly quizzes (draws graphs the whole time), exams make up most of your mark, and the exams are hard to study for. Lots of people fail her class and she seems proud of it.
Very hard course. If you get above a 50 in her class, that is an accomplishment. Her lectures are extremely boring and consist of her drawing random graphs and talking. That being said there are many people who do the bare minimum and complain they fail. If you put some effort into this course, you will pass.
She's just bad don't take her classes, so many better profs don't let her ruin these courses for you
I do not like how she forced us to buy her own book, only to write an essay that connects to one of her chapter. Her book is kind of unnecessary, it's a cute interested book (she put a lot of effort) but I do think the textbook is more useful. The lectures is ok, but skippable because you can learn everything from the textbook.
Throws curveballs, and questions are unnecessarily hard. Easy concepts, just in a hard manner. Doesn't make sense
Lectures are not helpful, and neither is the textbook. The study plan is the most effective way to teach yourself. Often the test material was not related to the lectures. She makes you purchase her book and tests you on it, but the information is entirely irrelevant and not needed to understand the course at all, making it a money grab.
You do not need to attend lectures, I didn't find the way she teaches helpful at all, just overall a waste of time. She puts a lot of weight on exams so be ready to study a lot for those. The test questions are very hard at times and can be very random, something she might have barely mentioned could be 1 or 2 questions.
One of the worst professors in UofG, it is absolutely rediculous how useless her lectures are and gives very heavy loaded exams in short amount of time, the class average is always bad for some reasons. Her second midterm, more then half the class failed which shows how careless she is and seems very proud of that, be careful of her final exam
Lectures made zero sense and the prof couldn't care less about her students. The only way I learned in this class is through the textbook and SLGs.
Overall Adomait isn't as bad as people say as long as you put in the work. She provides a lot of assignment oppurtunities to do well. do MELs every week until you get 100% (unlimited attempts), and put effort into paper since it boosts you and will balence out exams (which are hard). Lecture makes sense if you pay attention and read before.
had her as my professor for first-year macro and micro economics.... didn't learn a single thing in either throughout all the lectures, only reason why I passed was because I taught myself the material
She is very cocky and bragged about owning a large house on multiple occasions.
The absolute worst professor I have ever had in my life. Cannot believe she still teaches at Guelph it is sad and unfair to students paying thousands of dollars to learn. She loves seeing students fail. DO NOT EVER TAKE HER CLASS
Adomait and ECON 1050 as a whole are over-hated at Guelph. Although some of her comments are tone deaf and she is a fast-paced lecturer, you will learn stuff in her class. She is very passionate about economics and I find her lectures engaging. I would still recommend going to SLGs and trying your best.
A lot of people fail
She'll do a quarter of a chapter in class and post the other 3 parts in video to watch at home which take hours, the she makes her mid term 30% and final 50% while not giving enough time to complete the questions
If you're thinking of taking this as an elective DON'T!!!!!!
She uses this class to self-promote her podcast and her book. The essay in the class requires you to not only read the book, but listen to the podcast and cite two chapters and two episodes. She goes too fast and all she does for the first three months is draw graphs with no context. It was almost easier to learn by not going to her lectures.
econ 1050 is set you up to fail, she wants you to drop the class. Her lectures are subpar, she only understands theory and struggles to give examples with numbers. Be ready to study for her 50% final exam.
It's a rigged course. To set you up for failure.
Does not teach properly in class, expects students to understand entire chapters after 1 class. Unfair marking on Exams.
Why write Essays when we are in business
The ratings for Evie are quite unfair. Econ is a hard subject to learn especially for many students have no understanding of it. She is a decent prof, she is well-versed in economics. While the classes are test-heavy, anyone can do well given they put in some effort. Fundamentally, econ is a difficult subject, and it isn't fair to pin blame on her.
A lot of your mark comes from exams and midterms (80% this semester), a lot of the information you need to learn and study on your own in order succeed in this class.
Lectures were incoherent and 99% of the time made zero sense. All the professor would do is sit and talk about various product i.e brussel sprouts, milk etc. and then would scribble graphs and would not explain further. Both exams are unfair and have averages ranging in the 50s or 40s. If you do not have to take this course DO NOT TAKE IT.
The only people who find this course impossible are probably putting next to no effort into it. I got a 45% on the midterm without studying & only going to a handful of lectures. I also wrote it while hungover lol. I think in hard courses, you'd be lucky to get a 20% with that little effort. Also, the essay isn't that bad. It is time-consuming tho
I swear she wants her students to fail. She does not know how to teach and your mark is basically made up of the midterm and final because they are worth 30 and 50% of your grade. If you don't have to take this class then do not. She is awful:)
This was a tough experience!
Worst class ever the amount of tears I shed was insane
You will cry a lot. Don't take this class:) Makes you buy and read her book she wrote and listen to her podcast for no reason because it's just a simplified version of the content. Only talks about bread, wine, and her husband. Lectures make 0 sense. Had to teach myself the whole textbook. So fun!:)
She is very unprofessional and lacks edict. Her teaching style is horrible and she does not follow the textbook or program. Has zero interest in communicating with the students and is very condescending. Do not take her class. She should not be teaching period!!!! What professor asks the students to mark each others essays?
Awful just awful
this professor made me want to drop out of university. she had no empathy for her students, thought us 'stupid' whenever we would ask questions about the content as she assumes that her rushed and incoherent lectures of pure doodles were enough to educate us. The load wasn't too bad, but I wasn't taught any of it. I passed with a 66 and tears.
If you read the textbook before class you will be fine. Show up with no reading done you will definitely be lost. The content isn't that difficult if you follow along/.
Questions are unnecessarily hard. You think they're easy concepts until you see the exam - the stuff she tells you will be on it won't! Waste of time.
Just no
Does not post content, if you are sick you can see a video, but it's extremely hard and I would say not a very good method. I haven't heard of any other teacher not posting the lecture content, especially when there isn't a way to tune in unless you're present in class.
Im nor taking It with her but I sit in the class because I have friends who are in that class so I am suffering with them and they are stuggling out here.
The absolute worst professor i've ever had the dishonour of being taught. Every assignment she handed out made no sense with extremely minimal instructions. Her classes are not engaging and flat out useless, you are better off just learning it on your own. The exams are near impossible to get over a 75 in (class average was a 53).
Adomait does not want her students to get high grades. She will be happy if a midterm or exam average is exactly a 50%. She talks about her life a lot to the point where her stories make no sense and do not connect to what she is trying to connect them to. Take both intro to economics classes online with another prof if you want to actually learn.
Forced to watch her podcast and buy her book, both of which might be the most useless medias I have ever consumed in my life.
If I could give a rating of -10 I would a 1 is being nice
Way too many assignments worth so little and then tests that feel impossible to do well on. I will not miss her name on my timetable.
God awful teacher. I really believe anybody with slight interest for economics would feel disrespected hearing her teach it. Makes class so boring and has to bell curve every single test because she posts mock exam content far different then what she gives day of exams. Hopefully she retires soon, she has tenure so unfortunately can't be fired
One of the worst professors I have ever had. She needs to be humbled, because she thinks too highly of herself to help her struggling students. She forces to you buy her book and listen to her podcasts for a small-weighted essay. She does not help students if they are having issues with course material, instead she takes it as an ego boost.
ECON1100* Intro Macro with Adomait, she was also teaching ECON2560* Theory of Finance. Adomait straight up told the class ECON2560* was her priority to teach that semester. We were going to have to deal with it. First and only time I heard this over my time at Guelph. If your going to be arrogant fine, but at least be good at something..
The course itself wasn't too difficult and was actually interesting but Adomait was completely useless. Her lectures barely covered any content, and everything that was tested was based off of the textbook so you had to teach yourself the course.
First class she suggested that we sign up for organ donation... not sure what that has to do with econ. Her lectures honestly just confuse you more and you might as well teach yourself the course. She also says her goal is to make your head hurt when you leave the lecture hall, she never fails to do so. She should teach us something instead.
She's brutal if you're in this class Goodluck
D1 Yapper, tests and lectures make no sense and forced to buy scam of a book package.
Lectures make no sense doesnt teach anything
She the worst. iPad is a must so u can play games all class.
Awful. Not able to teach. Runs through everything and doesn't right down her thoughts. Charges you a way to much money for her textbook.
The reviews speak for themselves
awful teacher who just goes on rants for no reason with no coherent meaning
Awful. Never take
very bad teacher
Can't teach at all. All useless information is gone over in class. Then, everything important is uploaded to the course link on a day when we don't even have class and are expected to teach ourselves the most complex material. She also thinks that 50% is a good grade and takes pride in the fact that most people drop or fail her course
Lectures do not help, better off self learning the content. Mid term is Worth 35%. Final is 50%. Fourth years say it is the hardest course they have taken in their time at school here.
Her lectures are good, the tests could be a little iffy. People complaining about lectures are the ones who show up with 0 preparation and expect to understand everything immediately.
If you want an honest opinion on this professor here it is, Adomait is old, run down, and an overall horrible educational instructor. She makes you read her book which is useless ( Cocktail Party Economics) and thinks that it's the best thing in the world. My advice to all is do not read the book. You are better to self teach yourself the concepts
everyone complaining about the prof. just has a massive skill issue and can't comprehend lectures on basic concepts to save their life. actually get over yourselves and go to lectures #keepcoping
Prof has an average to mid level teaching ability/style and no common sense when it comes to grading, 50% weight on final, 30% grade on mid term, which means one bad test and you may as well drop the class. Do the mock/practice exams before the midterm and final, they help.
Awful lectures, boring af and doesn't really cover much. Her courselink page is a mess and is so hard to find anything. Very hard tests too.
Lectures are a waste of time. She doesn't do any example questions. The graph examples she does don't have actual numbers included, just lines and points. If you take notes you will not be able to understand them later. Overall you are better to teach yourself the course. Also makes you pay too much money for her own textbook.
Cancelled lecture after thanksgiving to give us a longer break and Friday lectures are online. I think people hate her so much cause they've never had a course before with little support from the prof. She has previously extended deadlines multiple times.
This is the hardest course I've ever taken. The exams are worth most of your grade which is not unreasonable however the exams are extremely difficult and designed for students to fail. She does not care about her students she just wants you to buy her book
Not a good teacher, been teaching this course for decades and still can't get her class to understand any of what she is teaching
Terrible Prof. Adomait is a bad lecturer, always bringing up her husband. Terrible at explaining simple concepts, overcomplicates them making it hard to understand. Posts video lectures every week to pile on the misery. Her textbook is terrible and 10% of your collective exam grade will be on questions from her book. Avoid Adomait at all costs
dont take if dont have to
She gets a bad reputation, and mostly for valid reasons. She doesn't properly explain anything, confuses student with her random stories and writes super fast/messy. Her poor teaching is reflected by the class avg of the midterm; a 48%. There is a lot of self teaching in this class. I do believe she is a nice person though as she is sweet to talk to
not great…
Annoying. Now posts videos to haunt your IG feed. Took econ 1050 and 1100, steals all your money for her mandatory textbooks.
Her lectures are very hard to follow and she is very fast. Would not recommend taking her course.
Professor Adomait is hands down the worst teacher/educational instructor I have had within all years of my schooling. My advice is NOT to read her book Cocktail Party Economics. Lectures are all over the place and the class is marked off of very few assignments with the mid term weighted 30% and final being 50%. Her book is a money grabbing scam.
She just doesn't know how to teach. Genuinely I only learned stuff once I got a tutor
READ THE TEXTBOOK. The prof is passionate about the curriculum, however, she doesn't know how to teach. There are a lot of graphs to draw in lectures, but she does not explain their concepts very well. She doesn't add any notes in her lectures, making it hard to understand what the graphs you drew from previous lectures were referring to.
Gets a bad rep because of different teaching style and the fact that some people choose not to read the textbook. Overall very smart prof and I really liked her.
Mid term was hard, and it was reading heavy at times. People are very critical of her, but I think they except to know everything if they only go to class without reading and understanding the textbook content. She mainly draws graphs in lectures and explains them verbally - don't just write what she writes, take a lot of notes. This class is hard.
Shes really nice as a person but 30 years of teaching has not made her good at it.
She prays on your downfall.
at first it'll be easy, and you'll question all the reviews, then it'll hit you like a train and you'll wish you had listened to everyone. Its unnecessarily hard and Adomait thinks she's the dean of the school the way she walks around. it should be an easy course but Adomait works overtime to make sure you fail. comes from a place of insecurity fs
For those saying you like this teacher, I hope the worst for you. I was a happy, outgoing kid until Econ ruined me. It's not the course; it's the professor. Now, I'm terrified for the exam and need a miracle—and money for therapy. I feel like my childhood has been ripped out of my soul all I dream about it Demand and supply.
Adomait is not nearly as bad as she is made out to be. Econ is just a hard class with new concepts compared to what people are used to. My only complaint is that she makes us buy her book and then tests us on specific questions from it. I was still able to get >80% on the midterm without reading her book though.
worst prof oat
Evie Adomait is the worst teacher the I have ever had Lectures aren't helpful The quizzes feel like trial & error puzzles You are forced to buy her useless book so you can get the textbook and quizzes Her midterms regularly score under 50 She sabotages the course so people drop it You can be taught better by youtube videos (character limit reached)
The worst prof, lectures make absolutely no sense. draws random graphs and does not explain. You have to buy her personal book with the textbook, which is completely useless. Your grade is basically based on the midterm and final which are near impossible even with doing all the readings and practice questions. Save yourself and take econ online.
I was failing the course for the entire semester. It came down to taking the final and risking failing or dropping the course entirely. I studied relentlessly, yet it wasn't enough.
If you have to take her course use the study plan!!! It's the best tool when it comes to studying for her midterms and final. Her text book that she makes you buy is utterly useless so don't waste your time reading it, and if you don't have to take her, DONT! She prides herself on making her class average as low as possible!
She's is a terrible teacher overall but if you want solid advice before you take her as a new student for micro economics read the chapter she is teaching that class beforehand because otherwise you will be so confused you might as well not show up. I would recommend doing the MEL before hand and take notes of not the questions but how she words it
I hope she isn't getting paid
Definitely the worst teacher in the whole university, justifies her mediocrity by saying that economics is supposedly a “killer chem course” even though everyone knows that she shouldn't teach here, but the management for some reason doesn't care. If you wanna pass this course don't waste time going to lectures, just read the textbook.
If you are about take this class here is some advice (get a better grade then I did) - Read the chapters before every lecture (not her textbook, the other one) - Just listen to what she says appose to actually copy her graphs in class (they are useless looking back at them) - Study days before the tests - Watch Jacob Clifford on yt, trust me
On the first day she tried to scare you with some stat on the pass rate of this course. She makes her course harder than it should be. She makes you buy her own textbook which is completely useless in the course. The only good thing is the mock exam and midterm she provides prior. Take the pass if you can and don't let her scare you into dropping
Adomait is overhated by students who don't apply themselves. Her tests really aren't that bad. That being said, she makes you read two textbooks for microeconomics and draws too many graphs without explaining them properly during lectures. As long as you study for her tests, you'll do fine.
Goated prof, not much to say, you're blessed if you have her. Big up the cronem!
She is the most awful professor I have ever had she likes when students fail or do badly. If you do not have to take her class then DONT.
Is a really tough prof but lines you up well for the rest of uni because of how intense she is with basic econ principles. I hate going to lectures but highly recommend going to hers or it's easy to fall behind. Use the mock midterms and finals. I applied myself super heavily in this class, am a fairly good student and still only pulled mid 60's
I had her for a day and dropped it, that should tell you enough. I extremely recommend not taking this course with this prof, very negative experience, and this is speaking from other students as well, not just me. I would give less than 1 if I could. wow. Plus, she laughs when students fail and uses that for her confidence.
She wishes failure upon her students and brags about her averages always being below a 50%.
I don't understand where the hate for Eve comes from, I was worried about taking this course from all the feedback but found I enjoyed her lectures, they were engaging. I didn't love having to buy her book atop the textbook but I respect the hussle. Midterm and final were tough but fair and I came out with roughly 77% for both, also I'm in a reel!!
Her lectures are not teaching, they are reviewing. She makes you purchase her own textbook and then goes over the general basics of it. The way to pass this course is to read, read, read and learn the material on your own and reinforce it during the lectures. She gets a bad rep but those are by people are not willing to do the work.
This prof abuses her position since Covid-19 by forcing readings from the textbook that you have to teach your self. The lectures in this class are horrible it is like the professor has ADHD always talking about how much she earns/house costs, and wine. The mock exam is absolutely useless and it is a trick for you to focus on the wrong material.👎
Failing Average
Adomait makes her course as hard as possible. Took micro last semester, went to every lecture, took the midterm got 37%, her midterms and finals are impossible, I realized going to her class is pointless and for anyone who takes this class your better off skipping and studying 2 days before the midterm, end up guessing each question anyway.
Holy smokes, worst class experience I've had. I cried. Sure, she's an iconic girlboss, kinda quirky. But she teaches concepts extremely quickly, assuming you have prior knowledge on economics. Keep in mind this is supposed to be an INTRODUCTION COURSE. Old-fashioned, literally uses a Sharpie and overhead projector, writes class notes in real time.
She's extremely hard to reach via email, which is surprising because she's the head of the economics department. Very hard marker and her exams/midterms are very unfair.
If I could give her a zero I would. Makes students MISERABLE and she thrives off the failure of her students. Mental health deteriorated. Although you can tell she loves economics, she hates her students and she loves to see them fail. Every time I think of her class I start panicking. I hope she realizes what she has done to her students.
I hate this professor with a passion, i hope she retires soon for the sake of student's mental health in first year.
horrible prof avoid at all costs. should not have a job.
She purposely tries to fail students. She makes a joke out of how difficult her course is. I believe the low grades are a reflection of her teaching abilities.
Tough class but if you show up to every lecture and start studying 10 days in advance for the midterms you'll be fine. I'm an average student but got 80s on both midterms by doing this. I will say her book DPE is not useful and only makes the midterm marks worse. Does have a passion for economics that's for sure!
Most people who complain about Evie put no effort into the course and blame her for doing badly, based on what everyone says about her. If you put in effort you'll be fine. Her class may not be an easy A, but it is certainly not as challenging as everyone makes it out to be. There could be much worse in terms of professors.
Wants her students to do well but she is a BIG adjustment coming out of high school. Super content heavy, lots of quizzes and requires you to read her own book for the final. I'm in fourth year and still use some of my notes from her first year classes but fair warning
She gives a lot of bonus points and easy coursework to bump your mark. Easy to pass..
Be prepared to buy a book written by her and be critiqued very precisely. Puts things on her exams that she doesn't include in her book as well. Very tough grader and fails a lot of people. Basically had a 50% pass rate and doesn't care about students just about how much money she can make off them
don't take if you don't have to. Draws 5 million graphs a lecture and doesn't explain them very well. This tanked my average (as a STEM major!). even if you go to every lecture you'll still end up guessing every question. she takes delight in having a low class average and having people fail
The midterms and final are brutal. This class brought my average down so much in first year. There is opportunity to bring your grade up by doing well on the MEL's. Other than that, it was brutal. Basically, a terrible class and even worse prof. She is really nice, but she can't teach for the life of her.
Like people say this is easier than micro, I don't know why cuz this class was the devil. I decided to actually attend the lectures after I did micro assuming it would help, it didn't. The essay was brutal. The MEL's were harder. I didn't pass either of the midterms. The final was nuts. I don't understand how she is still a prof.
Really really really bad
do not take.
Majority student barely pass her class if not they fail
Course material is extremely heavy and complex, but she does a great job at making the lectures exciting and interesting. I love her use of real-world examples and how she connects current world-issues to economic principles.
I don't know why she's still a prof. She can't teach; all she does is exercises without explaining anything. Out of all my classes, this is the only one I've had problems with, and mostly because of this professor. The old-school style won't work anymore, and there she is.
Horrific prof, horrific class. I failed the midterm and still finished the class with a 66% cause a bunch of us cheated on the final LOL. Make sure you got somebody smart to sit behind for the midterm and final. The tests make literally 0 sense—get ready for the worst 4 months of your life...
Does not cover the info needed in her lectures, enjoys watching students suffer and fail. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. CPE is insanely useless
Despite what people say, if you actually focus in class and just listen to what she says it all makes sense. She uses real life examples to explain market types, and shows how taxes and subsidies work. No idea why she gets the hate, she's also fun and caring to her students.
If this lady cared more as much about the course as she does her instagram page, more people might pass this course. Horrific notes and 80% of your grade is the midterm and final.
Midterm was brutal, and stuff she says to study was barely on the midterm. The book she makes you buy does jack all and her lectures do not help at all. Take it online.
Don't take this course you'll fail
Don't take her class, everything she teaches is not on the mid term. Overall, not a professor that should be aloud to teach in the University of Guelph.
You're just adding fuel to the fire when you take this class. Enough said. Good luck fresh meat
I honestly didn't even know what everyone hated about her at first. She comes off as a nice outgoing person and her teaching itself isn't actually as horrible as people make it seem other than the fact that she draws too many graphs. However I just finished writing the midterm and that alone deserves her a fresh spot in jail. Predicting around a 20%
Terrible prof but if her exam resembled what she taught it might be ok.
In all my 18 years of life I've never had a professor this atrocious. bad bad bad she makes me regret even taking my business minor and she inflicted so much pain upon me.
While the course is hard (economics is generally hard unless you have a talent for it and it's the business killer course), Adomait isn't as bad as people say. Yes her midterm is HARD, but there is some opportunity to get free 100%s in other assignments that she gives out. (She does force you to buy her own textbook)
I'm not even done this course yet, and let me tell you, this is the worst teaching I've ever had. It is simply impossible to do good in her class. Want over a 70 average, forget about it. I don' think I've talked to a single person who enjoys her class. Quite possibly the worst experience I've ever had in a classroom. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
She was a nice person and tried to make the lectures semi-engaging. However, overall, her lectures didn't correspond to the tests, as her lectures were primarily graphs. In contrast, the tests focused heavily on terminology and textbook material, and didn't emphasize graphing as much.
Prof Adomait is really not as bad as all of these reviews are making her sound. She's very clear about her expectations and transparent about the fact that this is a very difficult course, and that if you do not show up to class and don't read the textbook, you are going to struggle. Tests are very textbook heavy. Do the reading.
terrible professors made me depressed and fail and drop out of uni
HORRID. I economics itself is somewhat harder than your average course but this professor makes it 100x harder than it needs to be. The weight of assesments in the course is made for you to fail. Her textbook makes no sense, she is hard to find outside of class, she knows that many fail her course and laughs about it. Try to take online if u can.
Econ isn't a bird course or a GPA booster, but as a class it's for sure passable. It's not easy but if you study and make an effort your grade will reflect this. I found lectures to be very engaging. Do the readings and study and it should be fine!
Lectures are engaging. However the course is very difficult to do well in, with so much reading (even for uni), being very evaluation based, and rapid lectures that make it difficult to fully understand what is happening because it's moving so quickly. This course will kill your average, if you are a first-year taking business, take this online.
Terrible!!
She funny and a social media icon, respectfully tho a terrible prof and she gotta pack it up nd retire
Oh Evenline Adomait where do I start. First off the lectures are impossible to retain any information unless you're a genius, she goes way too fast without any regard for the students.
terrible proffesor and wants you to hate your life
Adomait is honestly all that she lives up to be. I went into her class with an open-mind, because everyone can have a different experience... but she was BAD. As a person, she is somewhat cold but fine to talk to, but she is a horrible lecturer and has zero email-etiquette. Also her Midterm and Final together = 80% of the grade, and its 90q in 2hrs
Eveline Adomait failed me with a 28%, then posted then outed me in UC : “Some students just aren't cut out for economics.” OSAP revoked two days later, lost my housing, dropped out by reading week. Now I bag groceries for a living lol.
Honestly I knew what I was getting into but man was that hard. I hade no options taking her class since DE was full. Her midterm worst thing to exist, super duper wordy. You can do fine if u dedicate yourself to just her class. Barely reached the finish line. Basically ur better of taking it DE. Lecture only helps if u read the textbook
I wanted to wait before I reviewed adomait so I wasn't acting out of spite. Here I am in my 4th year and I can confidently say she's the worst prof I've ever had the displeasure of being burdened with. She's only teaching 1st year econ to ween students out of econ majors to reduce their numbers. Get through Econ and I promise it gets better.
The worst professor I have ever taken in my entire life. If you want to pass her class, find a way to only have this specific class in your schedule as you will have to dedicate your entire life to it.
i used to pregame her classes because i was NOT showing up sober
