Life Science: Simple course. Minimal studying. Great opportunity for I-clicker extra credit. Easy A. Frazier was good!
Life Science: simple course, similar to high school bio, gave daily extra credit, DONT BUY BOOK she tests straight from her powerpoints that she posts online for everyone, she provides a review guide for every test, all tests are M.C., my final grade was A+ and i only memorized for about an hour the night before test, and always go to class
She's great! All test questions come directly from powerpoints. My best advice is to make flashcards or charts with all important information and study that!
Great teacher for life science. Attendance is optional, tests are straight from the powerpoints she goes over in lecture. DO NOT buy the book, you won't be using it. Extra credit given almost every lecture; I finished the course with over a 100%.
Easy class and easy lab. Went to lectures, was more of a social experience than a learning one. Tests were easy if you went by the guides passed the final w/ ease. I'd recommend this professor to anyone
she is amazing!!!...tests are not super easy but with the iclicker points, its so easy to do well. I ended with a 120% in the class and only got Bs on the exams. TAKE HER!!
Frazier is great. Very clear. Lab was hard, but with TA Kevin Lang it wasn't too bad. Tests are from review sheets and power point slides. Lots of extra credit. Study and try hard=A average. Great teacher. Definitely take her instead of Curless. I heard that teacher was horrible. Frazier is fun, class goes by fast& lots of extra credit!!!
Dr. Frazier is the best teacher in the entire Univerisity. Her lectures are very clear and she has a way of teaching that somehow makes her voice seem to echo back at you during the exam. I would highly reccomend her to anyone. Take advantage of her amazing teaching skills, they are rare.
Great professor. Gives you a chance to make up for bad grades on test by i-clicker points. If you attend class and use your i-clicker you should do very well. Tests are somewhat difficult however I am not one to study and yet I did fairly well on all of her tests ( I did attend almost every class, however.) Uses lots of pictures in her lectures.
Got a B in the class, Clicker points boosted it to an A. Go to class. Listen to her Lectures. And use your i-clicker.
THE BEST TEACHER AT FAU! HER LECTURES ARE FUN AND I LOVE HER ACCENT! DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK YOU NEVER USE IT! ATTENDANCE POINTS ARE ADDED ON TO YOUR TEST AND THE TEST ARE VERY STRAIGHT FORWARD. ALL IN ALL GREAT CLASS AND EVEN BETTER TEACHER!
Definitely the best professor at FAU! You have to go to class because she gives pop quizzes and if you miss 2 you fail. Other than that, you never need the book. Listen to her powerpoints. They are very interesting and fun. If you listen in lecture and review what she says from lecture, you'll get an A. She's very helpful during office hours.
science is not needed for my major, yet i DO like the subject. however, prof frazier took that away with how hard she made class and her lecture was uninteresting. i don't get Y people like her because i found her boring and difficult, esp her tests.
This teacher is great. Tests are difficult if you dont study but iclicker points help alot. I had an average test average and got an A because of iclicker. Take this class with her!!!
Dr. Frazier is a wonderful professor. I was struggling in the class at the beginning and she went above and beyond to help me. I ended up with an A-. I highly recommend her.
Dr Frazier was amazingg!! Not only was her class SUPER easy but if you ever needed help she was always willing to help. It was soo easy and at the end she gave a lot of clicker points!! HIGHLY recommend she is a GREATT professor. BEST AT FAU!!
no homework, easy tests, tons of extra credit.
great teacher...im a criminal justice major and hate science!! but her class was very interesting and very easy.. extra credit: through i clicker.. tests: str8 forward from her lectures.. book:not necessary!! take her!
YOU MUST GO TO CLASS!!!! she makes people walk around when she does iclicker for attendence and will count the number of students. Shes a good teacher but her test are very hard.I got a B but I had to read the book and go to the review sections. Her office hours are helpful.
was never good at science but got an A in this class. Dr Frazier is a very nice person and very helpful! NO NEED FOR THE BOOOOK AT ALLL!!!!!! just study the powerpoints and your MORE THAN FINE! you get tons of extra credit points for using your i-clicker so go to class. I was horrible in science and got an A in this class. Take Dr. Frazier!
Dr Frazier is an excellent professor! I had her for 3 classes, and would love to have her again as a professor. I was failing her class in the beginning last semester and she went above and beyond to help me - I got a C+ in the end. I HIGHLY recommend her to anyone taking science classes. NO doubt that she is the best PROF at FAU!!!
So can I tell you that this is best professor for Biology Diversity in FAU. The exam is 75% of her powerpoints. The downside is that she seriously hates cell phones and the S.I. will kill you if you have one on. She is funny and tell a lot of gross interesting stories.... the tapeworm one gets to me. Just read before class and you get an A.
had dr. fraizer for biodiversity and bioprinciples, her tests are very straight foward, and you do NOT need the book! everything comes from her power points. you could get A's on the tests pretty much by studying a day or 2 before. if you visit her during office hours she is SUPER nice and helpful..TAKE her if you can!
She is awesome. I failed the first test & the final, got a B, on the other 2 tests.I got a B in the class!! I was so scared I was going to fail, but she gives TONS of extra points, & all of her tests are from her power point notes. No book needed. Attendence is mandatory! She kicks ppl out if they talk. She tries to be mean, but she's so nice!
Provides tons of extra credit. Attendance is mandatory. She is extremely helpful, she enjoys helping the students who are in danger of failing. Textbook is not needed. All notes come from her powerpoints. Take her over Brooks. Dr. Frazier is AWESOME!!!
She was awesome, she gives tons of extra credit if you just get up and go to her class. No need to even buy the book, her tests come from her powerpoints and lectures. Definitely recommend her for freshman!
Great professor. But i feel the class is much harder than a 1 thousand level course. Its quite demanding but very doable. I got an A on the final and A overall. Helps alot in office hours! great
Not a class for Science majors. She gives lots of IClicker points which can make your grade a difference by a whole letter. The class isn't that difficult and she actually makes some subjects interesting. She doesn't appreciate people talking over her, which is acceptable since we pay to learn. Great teacher.
I listened to what all the people sai don here and ended up dropping. If you dont like science dont take her. Shes hard to understand and follow. she treats you like a child. no phones and assigned seats.. what is this high school? she tells you to drop the class at the beginning of every class. I do not reccomend her at all.
Very good teacher but some of the information will be incomprehensible. Can only miss 2 classes or youre gone. Can be very difficult but if you pay attention in class and go over the review sessions for tests and STUDY, youll do fine.
Awesome professor, she's pretty strict about cell phones, attendence, etc but its actually beneficial since its rather distracting to have cell phones going off. She explains things clearly, plus she's pretty hot ;)
Hated her sooooo much! sorry, but my experiences with her were very unpleasant. She spends sooo much useful time treating us like little kids! we can't go to the bathroom, can't talk, you'll feel like your in jail in this class! her tests are hard, and she dosen't return emails! she is terrible teacher, one which I will never take again!!!
If you don't get an A in this class, there is something wrong with you. Her attitude is terrible although you can't really blame her. iClicker points will save you. Still, very easy course.
Frazier tests you exactly on what is in her lecture notes. If you are not Pre-Med ( I am Pre-Vet) take Frazier! Brooks makes tricy questions to prepare you for the MCAT. If you dont need to take the MCAT do not take him! It is a hard class, Frazier tells us exactly what we need to know for the exams, if you study a lot(flashcards!) you can get an A.
She was a very good teacher. She lectures from powerpoints in class but ther are not boring. Attendence is not mandatory, but she does give extra credit points every lecture and it really adds up in the end. She made science a better experience.
EASY!!! So easy! I got a C on all of her tests but because i get extra credit from showing up to class i ended up with over a 100%! I had far from perfect attendance. Bad parts though, she's boring. And some of the stuff she teaches is incorrect. Also, tests are hard but they are not a big deal as long as you get EC. Also, anal on cheating haha.
I took this class and got an A. I studied an hour before class, never got an A on any exams, yet got an A with all the extra credit offered. As far as "being in jail," being strict, etc., you are at school to learn, so I appreciate her rules, ppl talking, texting, etc is distracting and annoying. She's an awesome professor, makes Biology easy.
Easy class, didn't study much and didn't use the textbook at all. Wish I never bought it. Everything you need to know is in her powerpoints, and she tells you which slides to make note of. GO TO CLASS. She gives so much extra credit in iClicker questions. It's so worth it, they count for a lot. Had over 100% in the class because of them.
easy. go to class, sleep until iclicker questions come on, study ppts, ace every exam. same for principles.
This class was so easy! I love the teacher.. Even if you fail the first test and do semi good on the other ones.. with the iclicker points as extra credit, this class is so easy to pass! Definately take this teacher over any other life science teachers!!
SO EASY! iclicker is extra credit, if you go to class you will get an A, even if you bomb the tests. good at teaching, but she does repeat the phrase "and then you die" quite a lot
She is extremely funny if you have a morbid and dry sense of humor. I appreciate her keeping people quiet and being strict with talking, wish other professors would do the same. Her tests are super easy and she gives lots of extra credit. Great teacher, wish all were like her!
The only issue I had was the strictness. But even that was beneficial since I focused more without my phone. She was a great teacher and made biology interesting. It was a little overwhelming with all the material covered but it was pretty easy in the end since her test questions arent hard and come straight from the powerpoints. Study powerpoints!
She is a good professor. She puts her powerpoint online so print them out and take notes in class. It helps to rememeber the material better. Also she loves plants and if you dont take Brooks because he likes animals. Yet her test arent as tricky as Brooks, they are more straight forward
This professor was way over the top when it came to rules. She ran the class like you were in jail. I would strongly advise someone to take this course at a community college instead. The tests were not easy contrary to other reviews. She does tricky questions all throughout her tests. You have to go to every class or you fail. Skip this teacher!
Relaxed her rules a bit this semester. PEople were allowed to talk and sit where they want. No cell phones/ computers- this was not a problem for me- they are distracting anyway. Tests are fairly straightforward. PRINT powerpoints and use to take notes. DIDN't buy book. It was NEVER used- at least this semester. She is great and helpful!
Took her for both 1010 and 1011. Very easy, everything on her test comes from her powerpoints, no need to buy the book. She's VERY strict with the rules, but if you follow them you have no problem. Also gives an insane amount of extra credit
She is extremely strict. She doesn't put up with students using electronic devices or talking...she will kick you out. Otherwise, exams are easy. Attend class, print out the notes, and you will do fine. She also has some humor to her, which is nice.
I did not pass her class and I more than passed with Brooks a year later. I would go with Brooks because she is a really, really hard teacher for me.
had her for both semesters, tests are from notes, but read book to help study, gives a lot extra credit, very nice if go up and talk to her and answers questions, tests are really easy, doesn't allow phones but that is how it should be anyway, if you talk while she is you get thrown out which is good, very good teacher and would recommend her
Had her for Biodiversity and i plan to take her class in Spring for Bioprinciples. She's very strict about her class rules: NO electronic devices (laptops, phones, ipods)and no talking. Her lifeline leaders walk around to enfore this. However she's very nice and very willing to answer questions. Don't buy textbook! Tests are from her powerpoints!
she is a great professor, strict, but great.
Attendance is mandatory. Not a hard class but it does require studying and paying attention. VERY helpful during office hours. She can be a bit confusing but she's way better than Brooks.
She is strict, how can she nor with 350 students, but, she is also one of the most amazing professor I have ever seen. She will spend hours to personally teach students. She will help anybody who needs help. One of the nicest people and best professor I have seen. Her power points are all you need to get an A. Very approachable, & very recommended!
She cares so much. She wants her students to learn and enjoy biology, a goal she got with us for sure. I enjoy being in her class. She claim to be strict, but with the big golden heart of hers, it's hard to be. Excellent power points. Answer every question one would ask, and will give you the feeling it was the most important question. No brainer!!
Dr. Frazier can be a little nutty with her course rules and regulations, but she explains all lecture material clearly and takes her time answering questions from the class (unlike some other professors teaching similar courses.. ahem). I'd definitely recommend taking her..exams are straightforward with no unfair tricks.
One of the best teachers at FAU.Evolution is fun and informative but you must participate. And she is Sexy
Overall, she's an okay professor to have for BSC1011. Attendance is mandatory. Make sure you print out the powerpoints, pay attention in class, and take good notes. I learned in the class, but she made things way more complicated than need be. I suggest taking Brooks if you really want to learn the material and not just pass the class.
Love this professor! She is strict and attendance is mandatory, but you will learn so much in this class. This class has affirmed my love for Biology. She is harsh, but she will do everything she can to make sure everyone gets the material.
Gives powerpoint slides. study off of that, that is where she gets her test questions from. know it all and you'll get an A
I love Dr. Frazier she is hilarious, very helpful and responds to emails in a timely manner. She goes out of her way to provide extra information on topics that students are not clear on. She allows enough time for students to ask questions, she is organized and covers the syllabus effectively. One of the most effective I have ever had.
Great teacher!!! She doesn't use the textbook at all dont buy it. Just study off her powerpoints!! Also all the test questions are very straight froward, she never tries to trick you.
Awesome teacher, she's very strict with attendance but she is very helpful and her exams are straightforward. But don't take her class if you have no self-discipline
class is mandatory but only confuses you. I dont know what all these people are talking about but she is not easy
Freshmen will be daunted by her strict rules, but after the first few weeks, she turns into the most genuine, friendly teacher in FAU. Want to get an A? Print our the Powerpoints with the "note" feature (Powerpoint on one side of page, lines for notes on the other), don't buy the book. No homework, just study for tests and focus in class!
Prof. was funny- you could tell she knew what she was talking about. This class was in an auditorium so there wasn’t any one on one time, but class was pretty interesting. Tests were detailed but as long as you attend class and take notes, you will be fine.
Dr. Frazier is an amazing professor not to mention a highly intelligent person. She requires attendance, ensures there is no cheating, and gives a ton of extra credit. Pay attention, take good notes, do the online homework (new this semester) and most importantly HAVE SELF DISCIPLINE.
She's a great professor, lectures are abundantly clear and she tries to instill discipline with her strict attendance rules. Power points are basically from the book, for the best grade you really need to read the book and make flash cards/make good condensed notes.
Frazier is a GREAT teacher. She is very intelligent and knows what she is talking bout. She Gives A Great amount of extra credit. Her rules are strict but if you really want to learn it won't be a problem to follow them. My advice record her lectures type them up and make flash cards you WILL FLY THROUGH THE TEST
dr. frazier is an awesome professor!!!!! at first she seems cruel and unjust with her strict rules, but with over 300 students in the class, she has no choice but to be. very straight forward with her tests-all from power points. super funny, and knowledgeable. not an easy a though. you actually have to work for your grade. shes also super helpful!
Professor Frazier is by far the best professor i have had at fau. not only is she an intelligent woman and has experienced so much that she can share with the class. but she also is a very sweet and caring teacher. she provides so many other opportunites to get a good grade unlike other bio teachers (cough). love her def will take again.
Biodiversity is by far my favorite class I have taken at FAU. Dr. Frazier makes the class very interesting and enjoyable. She may seem strict at times, but she does it because she cares for her students. I got an A+ but I put multiple hours a week into studying. Attendance mandatory, 3 tests=75%. iClicker EC helps a lot. Overall really great class!
I was misled into taking this Professor by the reviews written about her. I do not recommend this professor; all she does is read from the powerpoints which are online, she is ridiculously strict for no reason, makes the class unnecessarily boring and difficult, & fails you if you miss two or more classes.
She runs this class like a prison camp and doesn't give you a clear idea of what to expect on exams. I highly recommend taking this class with some friends so you can study with them or take it at a different school. Don't isolate yourself, because that's what I've done. It just isn't worth it.
2nd time taking dr.frazier. Shes much better for diversity than she is for principles. overall a good professor. she rambles on sometimes, but she makes the class interesting! kinda strict but hey with 300 kids she has no choice. for the people who said shes hard, they only said that because they didn't study. its college... you HAVE to study!
She really is a great teacher. She's pretty funny and only has strict rules because a lot of people try to cheat. DONT TRY! Attendance is mandatory but because it's a freshman level class. Her tests are fair and come almost entirely from her powerpoints which she posts to blackboard. You can cram the day before an exam and still manage a B easily.
GREAT professor. Dr. Frazier is very intelligent. Wants students to understand. Don't let her rules scare you at first. She can be intimidating, but go to her office hours and she will happily help you with anything until you understand. I'm not even a biology major, so it was a bit difficult, however it was certainly manageable for me.
Don't miss class EVER. Every point counts and follow all of her rules, as strict as they are. She's a fantastic teacher and really know her stuff and how to teach it. The tests are pretty straight forward but you really need to study and take good notes.
She is an amazing professor and teaches very very well. The only problem is she answers everyones questions which I found annoying. She is EXTREMELY strict but I don't blame her. Go to her office one on one and she is an angel. I would take any bio class with her. I wouldn't recommend taking her and chemistry together it made me end up getting a C=
Excellent and clear prof. She is strict but an effective teacher. She forces you to pay attention and learn. If you don't pass this class it is your fault. Follow the rules and don't be stupid and you'll be fine! She is great if you are pre-med because she knows that most of her students are. She doesn't pretend to know things that she doesn't.
EXTREMELY STRICT. Gives BUSY WORK all the time. horrible grading system. Treats college students like children. She will kick you out if you make the slightest noise. Material is easy to understand yet the test questions are very difficult. Evolution is such an interesting subject but she makes it unbearable.
Don't expect this to be an easy class. Dr. Frazier is strict, however if you put in the time and effort you will get a good grade. She might be intimidating but don't be scared to ask questions. she is always willing to help her students. she is also extremely nice once you get to know her more.
She is a very nice teacher and the class is incredibly easy!!!!!!!!!! Attendance is mandatory so just go to class. The tests come straight from her notes.
You have to go to class otherwise you automatically fail. Other than that the class is extremely easy!!!!! Just study her notes, the book isn't needed.
This is one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. I didn't realize how much studying was required until the third test. A LOT of memorization. She is the best teacher for this class. She is clear and very knowledgable of the information. Im taking her again next semester. Very strict about no technology or talking. Focus and study.
LOVED HER. Don't bother purchasing the textbook- lectures are on Blackboard & exam questions come from the ppts. There's a bit of memorization for exams (I think hers are slightly more difficult than Brooks')- set aside 2 hoursday a week before the exam & you should be fine. All in all,a great professor & I'm excited to have her again in spring.
I really enjoyed Dr. Frazier lectures. She always explained concepts well, and she is highly knowledgeable about biology. Although her tests aren't that straightforward, they are still relatively easy. I learned a lot, and I'm looking forward to taking her for Bio Principles next semester.
Easy A if you put in some effort. Gives a lot of extra credit from lecture and lifeline (discussion). The only downside is her rules. 3 absence and you fail the class.
She is OK. Her lectures were long an BORING. She brings in specimens sometimes for show and tell. She is really into her stuff, but quite frankly I wasn't. Make sure to study her ppt, cause that's all you are gonna need.
Dr. Frazier is a wonderful professor. Her class is not entirely an easy A, but you do get plenty of extra credit from the Lifeline discussion which may help a lot. I recommend taking her because she is very helpful, especially if you go to her office hours. She will literally go over your notes and tell you how to improve them.
four test, simbio hw, and iclicker quizzes. not hard if you study but test are worded weirdly. no electronics in class period, so youre forced to learn. test are worded weird so you really have to know your stuff. miss 3 classes you automatically fail. must attend lifeline as well. miss 3 lifeline classes you fail. if struggling go to her office hours it helps.
Frazier is a great professor. I know she teaches bio. diversity as well (and I definitely plan to take it with her!) She is always willing to answer any student's question in class to make sure they understand the material. Also, she posts her powerpoints on blackboard so if you miss something in class, you can look back to get it.
Pretty easy to get an A with some effort. Lectures are super long and will put you to sleep but you have to show up or you fail. Very strict about the rules so don't break them. Lots of ec opportunities available from discussion
Dr. Frazier teaches at elementary level from pictures only, but her tests have nothing in common with the lecture. She even says she likes pictures which many time have inaccurate information. Her presentations are a mess, she is confusing in her teaching, and I'm sure she would not ace her own tests. Basically, you're on your own! Exams are MCATs!
ATTEND CLASS AND PAY ATTENTION TO HER NOTES AND LECTURE! NO BOOKS
iclicker points in every class. book barely used. tests are straight from powerpoints. you get points for a few different things, clickers, papers turned in, which in the end it helps boost up your grade. she is very helpful. she helps a lot in her office during office hours. i really enjoyed her class. and i actually learned a lot. i recommend.
I took Frazier for Bio Principles and I didn't do as well as I expected. So I felt a bit timid when I took her again for Evolution over summer. Overall, the class wasn't so bad. She gave out iclicker points everyday, we had questions in class that we did in groups & got points for it. Study her powerpoints and you'll do fine! I'm glad I retook her.
HORRIBLE. She was so bad that I dropped the class and RAN. She has no respect for collegiate level students and treats them like elementary schoolers.
She does not know biology at all and gets her lectures from Dr. Brooks or google. Tests questions do not match the ppts at all.
Evelyn has a grudge against pre-med students and talks to all students in general very rudely. I think she is jealous of them because they are smarter than her and she just wants to feel some kind of power. Do not take her!!!
Dr. Frazier is very unpleasant to listen to when she is lecturing and even more unpleasant to talk to. She is monotone and seems to have a scowl on her face. She seems to not enjoy teaching or biology at all.
Besides the fact that she jokes like dying is funny and she brings it up like 20 times that everything will die, she isnt bad. Its just that all the "Die" jokes become very ayhole like after a while and thats the only thing that bugs me with her. But the work itself is simple. memorize everything on her PowerPoints and you will pass the tests
She is very unorganized. Half the time she will talk about meiosis but the slide will say mitosis. She does not go in depth on anything and only takes time to speak about things she likes.
There is a lot of memorization in this class but you can get an A as long as you study. Take notes and study from her powerpoints and you'll be set for the test. The book isn't necessary but can be read if you want to understand more on a topic. She's a nice teacher and makes learning enjoyable.
Write down every word that comes out of her mouth during lecture, it'll be fair game for exams. She's a good teacher, goes VERY in depth on EVERYTHING. Not the best at answering questions via email and I wish she would proofread her tests. They can be worded tricky or just incorrectly worded altogether. An A is doable. Don't bother w/ the book.
Dr. Frazier is one of the best professors I had. She makes subject very interesting. She does group projects in class about the material so read before her lectures because that will be key for a good grade. Her test are fair. Just read the book before class, pay attention and you will do fine in this class. I would take her again. Awesome teacher!
HORRIBlE! I started taking her class for biodiversity and after 3 classes, I dropped it & her and registered for Brooks. What a HUGE difference ! Frazier is boring , authoritarian , knows NOTHING about biology & is only there to discipline students . Brooks is fun and really knows & loves biology . DO NOT TAKE FRAZIEr!!
Evilyn Frazier makes a lot of mistakes when lecturing . She seems to love to be in power and not love biology. She would be better suited for teaching a 5th grade science class.
Her biodiversity class was really good. I like her teaching methods and she would always try to keep the class engaged with the subject
Frazier makes an easy subject like evolution incredibly difficult. Her lectures are disorganized and she spends the majority of class telling people to be quiet while simultaneously encouraging discussion. You are graded as a group for discussions which is often unfair. Her exams are fair if you know what to study- good luck figuring that out.
She only teaches from her PowerPoints, memorize that takes notes or record her and you're good. She does iclicker questions as often as possible so pay attention. She's strict in class because she has to be, but she's actually really nice and helpful one on one. Her office hours are a life saver if you need clarity. DON'T TAKE BROOKS, tricky tests.
All you have to do is record her lectures and study the powerpoint! She gives a lot of extra credit. Attendance is mandatory. If you try then you will definitely get an A
Go to class, take good notes, and study the powerpoints, as her tests come straight from them. Her classroom policies are pretty strict, but if you pay attention in class, they won't be a problem. Gives a decent amount of extra credit through iclicker as well.
Her evolution class is heavily based on discussion, just the way I love it. Her slides aren't long and she doesn't just read off the slides. There is a lot of class work and reading at home, but it's not difficult at all to pass the class.
Took her for Introduction to Honors 1. Very kind and personable especially after having her for Bio 1/2. Easy class just busy work; listen to speakers about research and do paragraph summaries. Make sure to get matched early to avoid late semester rush so you can move to intro 2!!. Good class, bland sometimes. Hopefully Intro to honors 2 is better!
Dr. Frazier is a good professor. Took her for Biodiversity, Bioprinciples, and Evolution. Evolution can be a bit annoying because you have to go to every class to receive points for participation, which in the end add up to more then any of the exams. Exams are easy, just study the powerpoints.
participation is really important for this class so it's imperative that you don't miss any classes, and select group members wisely. The tests are based off her ppts and class discussions so save those discussion questions that she goes over in class. Overall not that hard to get an A. She's less strict for this class than she was for bio 1&2
worst teacher ever... Unorganized, Rude, doesn't teach Evolution very well... Do not take evolution with her
I hear she is good for Bio 1&2, but her evolution course is ALL writing and so irrelevant to the exams. Her exams were ridiculous compared to the actual discussions. I would NOT recommend her for evolution as she does not seem like she knows the subject very well. She is also not the nicest in class.
She know how explain and convey the material very well. If only all my teachers were as amazing as her in explaining the concepts. If you listen and pay attention in class and you will not have any problem.
Loved Dr. Frazier; i took her for both bio principles and biodiversity. The classes are quite simple with her because she provides you with everything you need via powerpoint. Don't buy the book, just need an IClicker. Best way to study is to go over her powerpoint's a couple times until you feel like you have grasped everything. Got an A in both!
If you were planning to take Brooks, DON'T! Take Frazier, because she is like the fairy godmother from Cinderella. There is extra credit available and the tests aren't as easy, but not hard to comprehend. Homework is fine too. Brooks guards the classroom like it is prison, & if you take him, he will just talk to you like you're the idiot.
Intro to Honors 2 is a ton of busy work but is helpful in learning about your research. TAs run the class and it is very disorganized. Dr. Frazier herself is great especially with this student group and is nothing like the way she is in Bio 1/2. You will learn to write research proposals to prep for honors and do research presentations
Beware of the strict phone-use policy during lectures/exams (must be on silent/off and away OUT OF SITE, or you will be kicked out w/ a large pt. reduction). Exams are easy and based on lecture ppts. Be sure to memorize what she instructs to memorize. Lifeline sessions are filler points. iClicker Q's for points/EC - based on accuracy.
This class is really not hard at all, if you attend class, take notes, and study you can easily get an A, Dr Frazier is a great teacher, yes, she is strict but its the only was to teach a 300-400 class. There is a lot of material but if youre a bio major you should be getting used to this
I am glad I chose Professor Frazier for this course. There are strict rules in class but you'll get used to them. Material-wise, Professor Frazier really explains the material well to the class. The tests will be alright as long as you study her powerpoints.
Dr. Frazier cares for her students and will work with any student who wants to pass the class. Whether you take Biological Principles or Biodiversity, take Frazier. She will occasionally give extra credit on iClicker questions. She will be more than happy to help you go over the lectures you may be struggling with.
Honors Research is just Intro to Honors 2 or Biological Research but you get Honors credit. Good program to get organized in research but they baby students too much and it hinders our motivation to take the program seriously. They hold your hand from day 1 and have standards themselves cannot follow. You must get an A in Honors 1 to move on.
Go to class so you don't miss iclicker questions. Tests are easier to understand than anatomy. Go to her office hours if you need clarification on the material. She's also easy to get along with. She's so nice. DO NOT TAKE BROOKS, BECAUSE HE WILL MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU'RE AN IDIOT. BROOKS IS A MEAN MAN.
The class itself is structured to be strict because of regulations by Florida, but Frazier herself is a phenomenal teacher that knows her stuff. I would take her for both bio principals and biodiversity again.
She's a very great teacher, in lectures she may come off as rude, but if you visit her office hours she'll help you with anything you need. You have to come to class, and expect daily quizzes, and some extra credit points.
Frazier is willing to help the students succeed. She will tell you what will be on the exam and she will be specific on the material if you go to her office.
Great professor she comes off really strict and mean but follow her rules and you'll do well. Plenty of extra credit point opportunities. Don't need the book just go to class and follow her PowerPoints. Need clicker for quizzes, attendance and EC don't forget it!
Biology with Frazier was not so bad but I would not take it with her again if I had the choice. She is very monotone so the class can get boring. Also a lot of I-clicker pop up quizzes! Her tests are VERY hard so make sure you study her powerpoints!
Dr. Frazier is great. She has strict rules but they're there to help you learn (Ex. mandatory attendance, no electronics, and no bathroom after first 15 minutes of class). She looks scary in class but is much nicer when you see her at office hours. Only 5 relatively short hw assignments and exams are straight from her powerpoints.
Dr. Frazier is an amazing professor! She may seem rigid, and harsh during lectures, but if you visit her during office hours she's definitely much more personable. Attendance is MANDATORY - she uses iClicker for quizzes (I recommend reading ahead before coming to lecture) and her exams are tough (she definitely makes you work for that grade.)
She is an amazing professor, there is a lot of material to be studied, but everything you need to know are on her powerpoints.
Going into the class, I was unsure of Dr. Frazier because of all of the rules that seemed nonsense at the time (no bathroom breaks, mainly). Because of these rules, I learned so much better than any class I have before. I received a 98% in the class overall. No need to buy the book, only study powerpoints. Lots of extra credit throughout semester.
She's a very good lecturer but a very tough professor. Record her lectures, print out the power point slides before class and take notes on them, study a little every day. It's not hard stuff but you have to know it inside and out to be able to do well. Her tests come straight from the lecture so pay attention and re listen to them.
Dr. Frazier was an amazing professor! She really made me enjoy Bio. You MUST have your i-clicker on you at all times. Don't even think of trying to cheat in this class. Her TA's will have you out of there in a second. Know your stuff for random i-clicker questions. Textbook was not cracked open ONCE all semester. Powerpoint based lectures.
Lectures are a bit boring, but she's clearly knowledgeable in her field, and her class is easier than Brooks'. Tests are based entirely on the lectures, the textbook is never used for anything. Her research focuses on terrestrial biology, whereas Brooks' research focuses on marine biology.
She is not that great of a professor but she's not terrible. She's a little strict in class and can sometimes come off as extremely rude. Still an easy class though.
Dr. Frazier is the professor to take for BSC1010 or BSC1010. Study mostly from the powerpoints, and the book (If you want). She will help you go everything if you visit her during office hours. There is also extra credit too and 1 assignment. Take her, NOT BROOKS!
I took Dr. Frazier for BSC 1011 and 1010 and loved her for both. Out of my 4 years at FAU, she is definitely one of my favorite professors. You cannot miss more than 2 classes or you may fail. Her tests are straight forward but cover everything she teaches you. You cannot use any electronics but you should be paying attention anyway. Not an easy A.
Its a 1 credit class, yet we have 6 hw assignments every week and they are always the same. Only take this course if you want to move on to the honors level and realize that both her and the TA are useless. I walk in at exactly 10 and the TA thinks its fair to deduct an attendance point. Then they think its ok to grade the hw strict and take weeks.
Powerpoints are more sufficient to study from than the textbook. There are extra credit occasionally, and she will help you study certain parts on the powerpoints you printed. She may be scary and strict, but she's helpful. She's not as scary as Brooks.
No electronics in class period. Her lectures/powerpoints are what her exams are. During class, she offers extra credit (easy points toward your grade!), other than the extra credit, her class is boring. Ive slept more in there then I learned and then just played catch up a week before the exam
Professor Frazier is a very straight forward person and has everything outlined in her syllabus. She can be tough but she is a very kind person once you get to know her. Do not skip class a large portion of your grade come from Iclicker points and attendance. Her exams come directly from her PowerPoints so if you pay attention you will be fine.
Evolution is a wonderful course and Dr. Frazier was incredible at displaying and teaching the information! There Are 3 exams that are based off of lecture and discussions and simutext and discussion homework. That being, said there are a lot of chances to redeem yourself and excell with Dr. Frazier! My third class with her; she is always amazing
Dr. Frazier is easy to get along with. Phones and laptops aren't allowed. She's helpful. She will sometimes give extra credit and easy to get along with. She may be scary at times, but will work with you to pass the class.
This class is straight memorization. Professor Frazier was mainly helpful in explaining how all the names of organisms and plants are related, but that is it. You are responsible for your grade. If you don't show up for class, you lose points. If you are late, you lose points. Your grade depends on both your participation and performance.
Evolution Class- This class was ok I learned a lot and did a lot of in class assignments not hard but all is graded. You will be put into groups and its great because the assigned assignments will be easier to handle. Tests are difficult well for me they were. Taken Genetics prior to this class helps but not prereq.
If you don't go to class and put real effort into studying you won't pass. This class is straight memorization and the tests are based solely on the powerpoint, not the textbook. Print out her powerpoints, study a little everyday, and you'll do fine. What makes this class intimidating is the crazy rules. Don't cheat and keep your phone on silent!
Study her power points and beware of pop quizzes
Frazier is strict but is a great teacher. You have to go to class because she has summative quizzes usually once a week. DO NOT use your phone, turn it off! Her tests are hard but just study her slides. Textbook not needed. Start studying in advance for her test, there is a lot of information covered for each tests.
Dr. Frazier is amazing! 10/10 would take her again she is just awesome after you get over her harsh rules in the beginning for classroom conduct and when taking an iclicker quiz. Once you get used to it you see that she really cares about the subject material and is super knowledgeable about it. She is by far the most fair professor I've had at FAU
Dr. Frazier was a really amazing professor and I definitely recommend taking her. If you study, show up to class and do the extra credit, then you should do fine. The class is really great, but it is also really strict. Electronic devices and watches are not allowed to be out. Follow the rules and there's no problem.
Loved this prof, she was stern but very helpful and thorough during lectures. I recommend recording lectures and restudying them. Provides plenty of extra credit however they require going to events. Pop quizzes every class so there is no way to skip. Allows you to make them up at the end of the semester however it is right after taking 100q final.
She was really fair with her grading and she gave out a lot of extra credit. If you study exactly what she tells you during the lectures, you will get an A on the exams. Her final is not culumative. There are pop quizzes every class so you might as well go. It's very hard to pass if you miss lecture.
This class was lecture heavy and based on PowerPoints. During lecture she tells you what will be on the exams. Attendance is mandatory and taken by Iclicker every class. Iclickers are worth extra credit, quiz points, or no points so showing up is the only way to ensure points. She cares about her students and offers lots of extra credit chances.
This class is interesting, but it is straight memorization. Do not buy the book, simply memorize all of Frazier's powerpoints and you will pass the exams. You MUST study to pass! There are also random I-Clicker quizzes during class that count towards your final grade, so you need to attend class to do well. Frazier is strict, but kind in person.
Everything she lectures on is on the tests. She is very straightforward in her lectures and occasionally funny, but if you're looking for an informational professor, she's the one. Class is somewhat difficult (pop quizzes almost every class) but she does provide a bunch of extra credit.
I took Frazier for biodiversity this past semester. It became apparent after the first few classes that it would become increasingly more difficult. She has a love for plants so for the second/third exam, that is what made up most of the exams. Overall, she is entertaining and the best teacher to teach this class.
Being someone who is not interested in science, Frazier made topics interesting and memorable. Questions reviewed in class WILL be on the tests! The class is difficult because it is a difficult subject and she goes through the lectures fast but if you study you'll be fine. GO TO CLASS BECAUSE THERE WILL BE POP QUIZZES!
Dr. Frazier is easily one of the most straight forward professors. Make a quizlet for every PowerPoint slide and you will breeze through pop quizzes and exams. Do not miss class, as she usually gives EC or a pop quiz each lecture. Take advantage of every EC opportunity on top of these tips and I guarantee you will get an A.
Dr. Frazier is the go to professor for biodiversity and bio principles. Test are based on lectures which are uploaded onto canvas for you to review and study from. There are either pop quizzes or chance for extra credit so missing classes isn't the best idea. She answers every question and if you study, it's an easy A-B.
Lectures are very important. Follow her rules and pay attention in lecture.
She is an amazing professor and explains all the course material clearly. I highly recommend taking her as a professor because if you do not understand a certain topic, she is more than willing to help you. She wants her students to succeed!
Dr. Frazier is a very fair professor. She gives students every chance to succeed and her explanation of the material is very clear. She also encourages students to ask questions in class always trying her best to answer them but she does have strict classroom policies and it feels like being in prison with her TA's patrolling the classroom.
Comes off stern but gives students many opportunities for points. Only material students are responsible for is what she has mentioned in class, the textbook only used for additional information. Explains concepts clearly and in-depth, teaches fast but well.
Dr. Frazier is excellent. She lectures pretty fast but the quality of her lectures remains very high. I liked her classroom rules because they made a good learning environment. She explains concepts very well and will help you if you do not understand. She is stern but carning. I liked there was little homework, which gave more time for studying.
Her class made simple topics very complicated and the tests tried to trick you instead of being straight forward.
She lectures relatively quick, but keeps them interesting. she makes more difficult topics easy to understand. gives lots of opportunities for extra credit during lectures
She is honestly one of the best professor Ive had while going to FAU. Her lectures were great and understandable and she gives extra credit. However, she gives pop quizzes every class, and her exams are very difficult, especially the final. She also goes at a quick pace. There are 4 exams and the last one is worth 130 points.
What an amazing teacher. I had learned so much and I have no fear to ask any questions to her. She is one of the most caring professor I have met. Her class is always filled up full quickly so move fast.
I absolutely hated this course and this professor. I have no clue why some of these reviews for Dr. Frazier say that she is caring and nice. She is one of the least caring, rude, obnoxious, and strict professors I have ever had. She basically sets students up for failure by making things way more difficult than they need to be. Do not take her.
Frazier is a wonderful professor. At first, this class may be overwhelming with a ton of information but you just need to keep at it. Study constantly. She gives space for a lot of extra credit the discussion course you take with it also helps out a lot. She also has office hours that you should use shes very sweet and helpful in person.
Upsides: Good professor, helps you understand topics, accessible outside of class, lets you double check tests to make sure you got the right grade. Downsides: Treats iclicker quizzes like you're in kindergarten, test taking with her is irritating as any movement you make could be looked at as cheating, just making tests/quizzes more stressful
I am a psychology major, so this class was somewhat challenging for me. You have to study a lot and always review your notes, there are a lot of random iclicker quizzes. The TA's are very strict and will kick you out immediately if you're wearing a watch, hat, etc. Her tests are hard but you know what to expect with her.
She has a very sarcastic way of teaching. She doesn't ever go off topic but has a lot of real life experiences of what she teaches so she does talk about those. She has a very dry sense of humor which in my opinion always made class very funny. Exams are hard but the TA's in lifeline give very good study guides. She has very good office hours.
Dr. Frazier is excellent. She is patient and willing to answer questions in class and in office hours. She lectures a bit fast but she explains concepts clearly/well. Her class structure is a good learning environment. I would definitely take her again. There are 4 exams, some quizzes, extra credit, and little homework, which allows for studying.
The class itself is a lot of information and can be very easy to fall behind in. She posts the power points online ahead of time if you take notes before class and review you will be fine. I would 110% recommend her to anyone taking this class. Don't buy the book her test are based off her power points. Iclicker quizzes can make or break your grade
Really loved Dr. Frazier. Shes always willing to help and her exams are pretty much everything you learn in lecture. Attendance isnt required but she has i clicker quizzes and extra credit so make sure you attend every lecture ! Text book isnt necessary but would definitely recommend taking good notes and working on memorization.
I loved Dr. Fraziers class! The tests were pretty tough, especially test 2, but they are not cumulative. I rented the old edition textbook but never used it. Was able to get a high B with only studying her lectures and Powerpoints. She is very strict about electronics and talking in class. STUDY EXTENSIVELY ON THE PLANT PORTIONS!*Her area of study
Pretty good teacher! Show up to class, don't use your phone. Pay attention. Do all of that and no reason not to get an A!
She can seem very intimidating but is actually very reasonable. Just go to class (because she gives pop quizzes which are based on the lectures), pay attention in lecture and take notes and you will be fine.
This professor does not care about her students. I feel I would have done well in an in-person lecture, however, the online class has just begun for me and she has zero knowledge of lockdown browser. She has ridiculous regulations and only gives 3 min for the lockdown check and a min per question. By the time the check is done, the time is up.
worst professor I have ever had. she has made me have so many mental breakdowns and has no care in the world for any besides herself. you would think that because of coronavirus happening that she would be understanding but nope, not her. she expects everything to be done her way and will make sure that you fail. DO NOT TAKE HER! coming from A stu
DONT TAKE HER! I've taken her class twice and ever since its been put online, it has been the worst semester in my life. she has made me feel so less of myself. she only gives you 7 min to complete pop quiz and log onto the lockdown browser which is impossible and not to mention flags you for everything you do. she does not care for her students.
I would not recommend taking this professor! she is very rude if you try to ask her questions in office hours! the class was extremely hard.
Wouldnt recommend she is very inconsiderate!!
Very unfair and unresonable.
I am currently in BSC 1011. let me just say SHE DOES NOT CARE FOR HER STUDENTS. We are all online, and she has these unnecessary requirements like KEEPING YOUR HANDS UP IN CAM VIEW FOR THE WHOLE EXAM, not being able to go back to double check your answers, and only having 7 minutes to complete quiz. Does not explain the material well & goes fast!!
Don't know why there's so many positive reviews on this professor. Really a terrible professor and very rude. Would honestly stay away from this professor if possible. Gives small amount of time for quizzes and exams and asks for the most ridiculous things when using lockdown browser. It's like her goal is to want us to fail from the start
This woman SUUUCCCKKKKSSS her class isnt t that hard if you review the material but her personality and just the way she addresses and talks to students is terrible. I have never spoken in class because im too scared too she will literally belittle you.
horrible, shes way too strict & clearly wants all of her students to fail
She's so mean it makes me very sad :( I took her last year and again this semester-- whenever I ask questions she makes me feel very stupid. She's not very nice and makes us take a ton of quizzes which are unreasonable with the amount of time given. I wouldn't really recommend taking her
heard a lot of good things about her before her classes turned online. maybe in person shes fine, but as for online goes. do not take her! she has quiz/testing rules that are way beyond realistic, shes has no empathy towards her students, has a sour attitude when answering some questions, and doesnt care if you have internet problems.
This class, at least online, can be extremely challenging. I agree with everyone whos rated her this semester that there are unrealistic expectations regarding quizzes and homework. However, the grade most of us receive 100% does reflect off of the amount of time and effort you put into it. Put in enough effort to memorize everything and your good
if you read this, I'm telling you she's probably the worst professor at the school. She's really pretty awful at teaching and has the craziest testing rules I've ever seen. Even the Dean and President of the school are aware of her teaching techniques or lack there of.
This class is a great example of you get what you put in. Put in the effort, youre good to go. Lack effort? Dont go blaming your F on Frazier.
Honestly if you actually try and put in effort it not hard to pass her class. She lectures on exactly what is asked of you and provides a lot of real world examples. Overall, Dr Frazier is a very good professor.
Took a nap every class, super strict but if you study the powerpoints you'll do well. tests are based only on the powerpoints and if you need extra help use youtube. Try to study the material from the previous lecture before you go to the next one bc clicker points really do add up.
I used to believe that students who graded a professor poorly probably just did not put the work in and was upset about their grade. However after taking her class online I understand why one would rate her low. She is unrealistic, nor compassionate about the current climate were in. Her exams are okay but gives no guidance what to even study for.
You're doomed if you pick her. Highly believe the ones giving her a good rating aren't real because is nothing but complaints about her and complaints to the dean about her. She has the most ridiculous requests you must follow when taking her quizzes. Legit godawful
Talk about the most disrespectful and rudest person you can have as a teacher. I wish FAU had a better selection of biodiversity teacher because she is terrible, her test have NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING SHE SAYS. She refuses to help anyone, she insults your work, she is so rude to other students on zoom, her test requirements are insane. STAY AWAY
Worst possible person to teach in the middle of a pandemic. This woman also liked to make up rules as she went on. Doesn't let you retake tests unless she feels like it. She made this class way more difficult than it needed to be. Take literally anyone else.
THE MOST DISRESPECTFUL PROF!! SHE CAN CARELESS ABOUT ACTUALLY TEACHING AND ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS! SHE TAKES 20-60% OFF OF EACH TEST/QUIZ YOU TAKE FOR W/E SHE CONSIDERS CHEATING!! WHICH IS LITERALLY EVERYTHING, IT TAKES 2 WEEKS TO SEE YOUR GRADE BECAUSE SHE REVIEWS THE FOOTAGE. Im a student with A & B grades and I failed this class. STAY AWAY!!!
Easily the worst professor as. As a junior, I have excelled in all of my science based courses except for hers. She acts like a robot & is BEYOND rude. Chats are turned off during lecture so you cant even ask a question. Makes you put your hands up in camera view the whole exam & expects that you should worry about no class other then hers. AWFUL.
Dr. Frazier is the best pick out of the two bio teachers in our bio department. All her lectures are pre-recorded so you can pretty much just watch them on your own pace and take good notes from them. Her tests are everything in the ppts and lectures and arent too bad if you put in effort and time. There is a quiz on the material almost every clas
While an endless amount of phyla and information one may never use again is tolerable. However, this course has been the worse I have ever had to endure. The professor is rude and callus during class. Professor Frazier has spent more energy and lecture time to call out students and to yell at us than I have ever witnessed in a course.
I had Professor Frazier for BIo 1 and Biodiversity. I first found her really intimidating. Her classes will weed you out if you have no actual studying skills. Find a good quizlet to study and go to office hours. She was very kind to me when I visited. She even drew me a diagram of lifecycles herself when I was confused and told me to keep it.
Easy if you put in the work. Her exams are exactly the same as her powerpoints. Put in the work and there should be no reason to get anything lower than a B
This was the hardest class I have ever taken- the grading is very strict and the webcam monitoring during quizzes is beyond strict, you get points off for anything. Failed it so guess I have to take it again :/
Horrible.
If you have any mental illness previous to taking this class such as depression or anxiety, DO NOT take this class. Because this was an online course it is very lecture heavy and her exams/quizzes all come from her slides. BE CAREFUL while taking her quizzes and exams, follow every single instruction she gives for environment checks!!!
she's clearly passionate about what she teaches but the exams and quizzes were difficult for me. The quizzes would cover 5-6 powerpoints with 30 slides each and the questions were kind of random. You have to study a lot for the quizzes and exams or you won't do well. If taking online be sure to scan the entire room or points will be taken off.
make sure to show everything in the environment check and to be in a clear work space bc she will take off points for anything. all of her quizzes and tests are based on her powerpoints. she's very rude to people when questions are asked. she's super paranoid when it comes to the tests. she's better than brooks tho. STUDY if you wanna pass
She barely answers questions in class and gives vague descriptions of what shes teaching. you mostly have to teach it to yourself because she mostly wont answer your questions.
She can be confusing, but definitely not the worst. However, if you study the lectures and rewatch them multiple times and do her thinking questions, this class will not be very difficult. The concepts might be hard, but its smooth sailing after unit 2. Don't slack off though. This is a science course, dont forget.
Dr. Frazier is a tough teacher. She's really passionate though. Honestly just take notes on the powerpoints/lectures she puts up and read them constantly and you'll understand the material. If you study diligently, it's an easy class. If it's online make sure to scan EVERYTHING in the room, she's so paranoid about people cheating.
This course is plain hard. The tests are heavily weighted and the questions are difficult to understand. I never came out of a quiz or test feeling confident. Mostly quiz/test-based grading with a few small assignments here and there. Professor usually had a negative attitude so if you are looking for fun/compassionate professor, she's not for you
She speaks in a monotone voice throughout lecture. She tells you she won't test you on a subject, and then tests you on it. She will test you on material not in the powerpoint slide and claim she said it in lecture. Nope. She goes on tangents in class that have nothing to do with the actual material. She makes chemistry seem like an easy class.
You have to work for your grade but I would take her over Brooks any day! She may not seem like she cares at first but she does care about her students a lot and approaches any problems we have in a very compassionate manner. Study her powerpoints and you'll be all set.
Pretty good overall. Her exams are exactly like powerpoints so no surprises.
Honestly wish I had taken a different professor, she is a tough test maker and isnt very great at lecturing.
Worst Professor ever. Gave me a 0 because I didnt show my ID for a certain amount of seconds. Unprofessional and rude & never answers ur questions. Brooks is pretty bad too so its basically picking between two lesser evils so good luck with that. Will have to take this class again next semester bc she was horrible
Not sure why all the bad ratings. Fair and straight forward professor who gives exams based off her lectures. The more you study her lectures and slides, the better. Just do everything you are supposed to and youll be fine. I am a non-biology major and I passed.
Definelty better than Brooks. 4 quizzes, 4 test. Didnt go to lecture once or use the book. All the info is in the powerpoints and thinking questions. Tells you the week that their is a test or quiz. Honestly, its an easy class just make sure to study everything and you will be fine
Professor Frazier may seems like an intimidating professor, but she's not honestly as evil or mean like the rumors. Don't be afraid of her! Study the thinking questions and PowerPoints & you should be more than fine. In the abnormal time of the pandemic, she made me feel like I'm learning instead of waking up to do assignments alone. Take her! :)
She makes this class tough for no reason. Her quizzes are mostly based off of the thinking questions so study those! Her testes however can be any random information from her power-points so you have to really know them if you want to do good on a test. She was bad at responding to emails and answering questions. One of the worst teachers Ive had.
Average teacher but kinda rude as a person. Lectures are boring. She gives very little time for the tests/quizzes. She has a million requirements for every test/quiz to prevent cheating which takes a chunk of your time needed for the test. If you study the power points and thinking questions you'll do fine though.
no electronics, talking, bathroom use, TA's will kick you out of lecture for talking/using phone. If you like electronic note taking don't take her, she's not flexible with anything. Tests are all very specific to her lectures and quizzes are mostly unplanned. Only thing she gives you for studying: "everything". Unhelpful and rude most days.
Frazier is a better professor than I imagined going into the course! If you don't like to work, don't take BSC 1011 but she did a great job teaching! She is very sweet and caring; I went into her office hours three times during the semester and we had a nice chat! Beware though, I studied a lot for this course so don't take unless you want to work!
lectures are very intense, no electronics, no talking, no going to bathroom after 20 min or TAs kick you out. her lectures are pack full of information and if you miss a class you will be behind. there is so much information to learn you have to study very hard and almost everyday. makes it hard to focus on other classes.
Frazier is VERY strict, but genuinely good at lecturing. Lectures are fast paced and there's a lot of info, but attend LL and you'll be set! Take notes in class and listen, REALLY helps you understand better at the discussion. Attend class for extra credit, really brings up your grade. Her exams are hard but study her powerpoints and you'll pass.
Okay, her class is a hard one & I can't deny that. BUT as long as you try and understand her lectures, it's not that hard. You need to study actively for this class so you can remember what's on the PPTs. So much ec opportunities to help you get the grade you want. EVERYTHING IS FAIR GAME ON THE EXAMS. DO NOT BE FOOLISH AND THINK OTHERWISE!
Incredible lectures. If you put in effort and time, you'll do well. Honestly, just take notes, go to office hours, study using active recall and space repetition, and find something to motivate yourself about the class, and the course will be a pleasant experience. Highly recommend this professor.
Dr. Frazier gets a bad rep. Her lecture is fast-paced and very heavy in important information so make sure you record it. Take good notes and ALWAYS pay attention, you never know when she'll give you a clicker quiz. Do the extra credit and go to class. Biodiversity is no joke. I loved having her, you learn a lot of interesting information.
Grading criteria feels outdated. She keeps track of where we left off but comes across as unprepared for explaining the topics. Is knowledgeable but powerpoints feel like they've been overused for years and need an update. She is monotone and very routine. Clearly doesn't enjoy teaching. Tests are lengthy and this class is pretty sleep-inducing.
Super fair teacher, everything is as on the syllabus. Gives extra credit and unlike brooks, tests are based on the PowerPoints. If you study the slides, come to class, do the extra credit, and complete all assignments on time you will pass. If your lucky she may give out free points! lectures are engaging but your not allowed any distractions.
Frazier is an amazing professor. Definitely make sure to pay attention during her lectures and really study the material or you won't pass. I tried taking her last year during covid and didn't really pay attention and it was the worst mistake ever. Keep up with everything she teaches and study really hard and you'll pass.
I recommend all students to take Bio Principles with Dr. Frazier. She makes herself available to students who need help with course material outside of class. During class, she answers all questions and never makes anyone feel embarrassed for asking. Overall, not a terribly hard course as long as you attend all of her lectures.
Dr. Frazier is a super nice professor. Her class is simple to manage, she does lectures and tells you what will be on the exam. She tries her best to simply hard topics and always answers questions. Her lectures are the best and she does them very well. Going to class is a must unless you wanna fail. She does extra credit quizzes.
Professor fraizer is a great professor. She does move fast in her lectures so id recommend rewatching the lectures if you missed what she said.she says the book is required but i never used it and did fine in the class.
She's terrible and is an unfair teacher
Genuinely cares about what she is teaching and her explanations are specific. She teaches mostly for her tests but you have to study and research outside of class if you are to actually understand and retain the material. If you cannot pass this science it is a matter of your study habits not being appropriate for the type of material.
Dr. Frazier was the best! Just show up to lecture and study hard. She moves through the powerpoint slides pretty quickly, but she posts the powerpoints for each unit ahead of time, so I would use the FAU printer to print out the slides ahead of time and then write down whatever she said in lecture that wasn't on the slides. It was a life saver.
Many people find prof. Frazier challenging, but if I am being honest, those are the same people that don't show up to lectures and don't seem to put much effort into the class. As long as you show up to the lectures and take good notes, you will be able to pass the class (along with studying of course).
Dr. Frazier was truly a great professor. She was very detailed and paused at certain slides so students could copy down the material if requested. If you want to do well in this class, make sure to take detailed notes of the slides and her speaking, review for quizzes and extra credit quizzes, and STUDY. I went to SI and it was a great review
DON'T BUY TEXTBOOK!!!! You will not need it and will never use it. It is a waste of money. Buy the Simbio though, you will need that
I really enjoyed having Dr. Frazier as a teacher. She has a ton of cool stories she loves to tell, and from what I've heard, she's the better Biodiversity teacher between Brooks and Frazier. Make sure you study the material she tells you to study. This class definitely takes a lot of work outside of class though.
Dr. Fraizer is a very fair and kind teacher. You dont need to buy the textbook because all of her tests and quizzes are word for word what she says in the powerpoint/lecture. Its a lot of work but if you put the effort in you'll pass. Attendance is not required but she does give lots of EC in class; all lectures are recorded. Easiest A ever.
I owe Dr. Frazier credit for my slight success in this class. In biodiversity there is A LOT of material, concepts, names, and taxonomy that you have to digest and memorize. She gives lots of opportunities for extra credit, so please show up to her lectures!
Honestly if you apply yourself in the class, take the time to do the notes and review then you will pass. DO the LL because it will help your grade. She's an OK teacher, no electronic usage during class because she WILL kick you out but besides that, she explains everything pretty well and always answered any questions the class had.
I took Dr. Frazier's class a few years ago for in Biodiversity. She is a total control freak. She literally has her TAs patrolling the aisles, and if you even look at your cell phone, you get kicked out of class and lose 50 points, which drops you an entire grade level. Attendance is also mandatory. I'm not a disgruntled student. I earned an A.
I don't know why more reviews dont say this but there is NO TECHNOLOGY ALLOWED! After 20 minutes the doors are locked and you cannot come back in if you leave. They WILL kick you out for any and all tech that is used. That being said, if you watch her lectures (in person/recordings) and study, you will pass. Use the SI, it WILL help u pass.
This was was so hard. The lectures are packed full of information and she moves between topics super fast. It makes it so hard to absorb all of the information
Tells a lot of helpful anecdotes, very knowledgable and funny lady. Strict but not an asshole, no technology allowed. She records lecture but if you show up you can get extra credit (highly recommend showing up). Not much homework, fair grader, I enjoyed her class. All the test info is in the PowerPoints. Take this class with her if possible
Dr. Fraizer was honestly amazing. You do not have to attend lecture however, she offers extra credit assignments (easy) and during lectures especially at the end of the semester If you know you're struggling don't miss it. Her lectures are super funny. She may go a bit fast but she post the recordings after.
She is a good lecturer and you can tell she knows what she's talking about and how to teach it. She goes fast in lectures, but you can watch them online afterward. She offers extra credit if you go to class, so you should go. Exams are based on her powerpoints, textbook was not really needed, take her if you have the chance to.
Dr. Frazier is undoubtedly the best biology teacher you can ask for. I was scared at first since everyone was telling me how hard this course was but she made is so easy. She does like to give out tricky questions on the test but if you study and have a clear understanding of the topic, getting an A is easy.
Dr. Fraziers class was definitely difficult. Her exams are worth more than half of your grade, but she does not lecture what is on the exams. The powerpoints are also basically useless, since none of the material she wants you to know was on them either. Overall, I did not enjoy her class nor would so recommend it.
I took Professor Frazier for both Biodiversity and Biological Principles. Her class is very test and quiz-heavy, but if you make flashcards and study ALL the material she gives you for each unit, you will do fine. Attendance is not mandatory, but she almost always gives extra credit during lectures. I would definitely take her again.
Getting an "A" or "B" is very doable. This class is just quizzes, tests (lockdown browser) and discussion questions. Attendance is NOT mandatory, BUT GO TO CLASS FOR THE EXTRA CREDIT!! I miss three classes and fail short of an "A". The lectures are recorded and the material on the exams comes straight from the ppts. Study and you will do fine
She was awesome. She loves giving extra credit for discussion questions. I wish she was teaching Cell Biology. Her tests are based on her lectures. I took her course online so attendance is not mandatory but helpful. She records her zoom lectures.
Participation matters heavily! Class consisted of 3 quizzes and 3 exams. Make sure you show up to class, cause she provides 5-10 points extra credit that will save your grade. Material on the exam are based heavily on discussions in class, not so much from the textbook. Overall, she is nice and very understanding, but you will read for your grade.
frazier was a great professor, she's caring and she listens to her students' needs. just follow her rules and do the work and you will be fine!
Easily the best teacher I have ever had at FAU so far. Top three best teachers I have ever had. She is strict, but cares about the students. Take her for ALL classes if you're a Biology major. As long as you show up for class and put the bare minimum of effort required, you will get an A. She makes you WANT to go to class, at least for me.
Evolution (Zoom) in Summer B. I didn't pay attention in class, but I ALWAYS participated in the extra credit discussions she gave (during class), and she gave two per class. All you need to do is watch her lectures (she posts the class recording) take notes on what she emphasizes, and you'll be good. She is a charming but strict teacher.
Horrible in every aspect. Average test grades below passing. Reflection on her not for lack of studying.
Frazier is a great professor, goes over every facet of the material in class. Lectures are super important and very simple, just listen and take notes and study those notes for the exam. Offers plenty of extra credit as well.
This course was a unsatisfied/satisfied course for 0 credits. Tbh I wish it counted for at least 1 credit. You get about a month or so for 4-5 things (quizzes/assignments). Quizzes unlimited attempts. Extra credit available end of semester. Final discussion about major/career. Not bad class, pretty easy but just wish it counted in credits.
I ended up choosing Frazier based on other ratings saying she gives out extra credit. Take her!!!! By attending her classes and getting extra credit for in-lecture questions before the first exam I had 150% in Canvas. This class is hard and does require diligent studying but she's amazing with teaching and the exams are pretty straightforward
Avoid her at all costs
Her class is hard, and you are going to study a lot of her class. She gives a lot of extra credit so even if you fail a test you have extra credit to help your grade. Even though attendance is not mandatory, come to class because that is when she gives extra credit.
Firstly, can't use electronics in class so you have to handwrite all of your notes, which is hard considering how fast she goes and how much she says. The tests are such a major part of your grade and it'll definitely depend on how much you pay attention in class. But thankfully, she does give occasional minor extra credit (like 1 point at a time)
I took this professor during COVID and my grade was a 79%. I studied everyday for this class and worked so hard and could not make it up to a B even after begging for extra credit. I am now applying to PA schools and this grade is impacting my application. I received A's and B's and this was my only C I ever got at FAU. Extremely disappointed.
Professor Frazier is a great lecturer - funny and engaging, with helpful anecdotes. While the class is challenging, her extra credit opportunities and focus on PowerPoints make it manageable. Unstuckstudy AI is a useful study tool alongside her materials.
Her exams are on the topics that are less talked about.
I didn't read a single page of the textbook, just study her lecture's and you'll be fine. Most important skill is memorization.
im convinced this class is actually impossible. SO much studying if you want to pass, which is annoying when your major has nothing to do with bio. if you fail any exam your grade is basically done for. she goes SO fast which makes it so hard to take notes, not allowing any electronics makes it even harder.
This professor is unreliable. She doesn't allow electronics but only hand notes and goes way too fast to take proper notes in class. Although she gives a lot of extra credit it is still awfully hard to pass this class. Most of the time she doesn't finish the chapters we are learning and makes us teach ourselves even though it is most of the exam.
She is very exam heavy, you have a lifeline quiz due every week which is supposed to act as an introduction to the week's materials but it is a waste of time. Only helpful thing she does is record your class times lectures. She also will sometimes give a couple of points of extra credit during class but overall not helpful. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
Going to class is a waste of time, she records the lecture and posts to canvas. She speaks to fast during the lecture for you to actually take notes and understand what she is talking about, it is more beneficial to skip her class and watch the recordings and take notes off that. She does offer extra credit if you go to the lecture.
Don't be discouraged by some of these reviews. She is tough, but I would highly recommend her over the other professors. As long as you put in the effort, you're guaranteed to pass. Also, take advantage of her office hours; if she knows you're at least trying, she'll be more accommodating. She also gives out a ton of extra credit.
Frazier was miserable to say the least. Went way too fast in lectures you couldn't even take notes, or understand the material that was being taught. You cant use the bathroom in a 2 hour lecture, or chew gum, you'd be kicked out of the class and not allowed back in. If caught on any electronics including a computer, you would be asked to leave....
Professor Frazier was absolutely amazing! Though her class may be daunting due to the fact that it is mainly graded on 4 exams and small quizzes she provides you all the information on her lecture slides! She also gives a lot of extra credit during class so make sure to attend. If you have any questions while studying go to her office hours!!!
Dr. Frazier is an amazing professor, she really wants to see her students do well. She teaches both biodiversity and bio principles. She provides a lot of extra credit opportunities during lectures. If you attend lectures, pay attention, and do your work, you will be fine.
Wasn't my favorite, but wasn't horrible. Class content is very plant and animal focused, so won't be as interesting for people who like human bio better. I learned a lot even though it wasn't my favorite. Life line part is annoying, but easy points. GO TO LECTURES, take notes, use already made quizlets, and you'll do fine. Extra credit in class!
Dr. Frazier's class is not bad at all! I was originally discouraged by some reviews prior to this class, but I did great. She has lots of opportunities for extra credit as long as you attend her lectures. Sometimes she teaches fast, but as long as you're focused on the content she is teaching rather than trying to copy her slides, you'll be good!
Dr. Frazier is honestly a great professor. Her lectures can be a little hard to follow along with because she goes fast, but don't let that discourage you. She gives TONS of extra credit just for showing up to class and although the tests can be hard, she genuinely wants us to pass. Go to class and I promise you, you'll pass.
Please don't be discouraged by the reviews Frazier is amazing if you take the class seriously. I had a D after exam 2 and by working with her in office hours and coming to class I was able to end with an A. If you come to class for ec review her materials in canvas study and ask questions you'll pass. Your grade reflects the effort you put in.
The first class in my entire education I have ever received a C in, however, that was my fault because I was sick for the last exam and I did not study. I got a C on every exam before that and with the amount of extra credit she gives, I was able to keep an 88 (before the last exam). take her
Attend every lecture. Supplemental learning and LA sessions aren't helpful. There's little homework, just occasional LA quizzes. Tests are tricky with complex multiple-choice formats, so you must fully understand the material. Don't procrastinate! The first test is the hardest and includes obscure content.
This class is very lecture heavy and there is a lot of information. Therefore tests are difficult but Frazier does a good job at explaining concepts and every time you go to class you get extra credit which boosts your grade so much.
Lot of lots of extra credit however exams are so hard the extra credit won't even matter. Makes her tests for you to fail and shames you for not doing good
I'm being honest: I changed my major because of this class. Her teaching style didn't work for me. The strict rules were meant to prevent cheating, but they made me uncomfortable. The exams were very challenging. I know she understands the material, and I respect it. I wish the rules were easier on us, especially since this is a lower-level class.
She gives LOTS of extra credit, so show up to class. This class is lecture-heavy, so you must study for the test and take notes because her PowerPoint slides have no words, so most of the time, everything she says is verbal. Tests were fine as long as you studied. Take her over Brooks for Biodiversity; she gives way more extra credit than he does.
She is awful!!! I had excused doctors notes and she still would not let me make up the work! If you miss a test or a quiz instead of multiple choice you have to take a free response test even if you have an approved sick note! I was in the hospital and she still made no exceptions on the homework and tests! She is literally satan DO NOT TAKE!
