Prof. Lulis makes it clear that she is there to help not to fail you. I think sometimes she makes things sound more complicated than they really are, but other than that she is a wonderful professor.
Open note midterm and final. Easy.
Easy class if you have ever been on a computer. Takes forever to grade papers. There are papers, like 4, but they are pretty easy.
She doesnt know how to teach. She reads straight from the book and when asked questions, she tries to weasal out of the situation. She doesnt do any work, a T.A. grades the homework and she doesnt teach. They are paying her for nothing.
she's soooooooooooooooo easy.....omg if u dont take her, u must die
She is one of the best teachers that I have ever had at DePaul. Her tests are all open notes and she does not get annoyed when sometimes we're slow and she has to go over it again.Anyone that doesnt think that she doesnt do enough is an ungrateful jackas
She kept saying to come to her for help. But whenever I would go to her, she would be unwilling to help me. She always told me (and also embarrassed me in front of others) saying that I did know the material (but if I did, I wouldn't be there for help).
easy teacher, lectures all period and answers questions. her tests are very easy as well.
awsome lady! exams r easy if u try a little bit!
Extremely nice person, caring and helpful. Definitely easily but helpful for students with little programming background. Very Accessible; always reachable outside class including weekends; very patient and happy to reexplain herself.
totally awesome!
The best teacher i have ever had!!! She trys to make class interesting. She walkes around and asks questions while she lectures to help keep people interested. Very helpful! very nice! An all around GREAT teacher!
Terrible. While easy, she is one of the least intelligent teachers I have had at DePaul and I learned next to nothing from her. She may be good as a programming teacher of some sort, but do not take her for Impact of Computing Technology - a class more suited for someone in social sciences.
She is one of those teachers who is getting paid for nothing. I didn't think I would encounter more of those outside of High School. Weasles her way out of ANY questions you ask her. NEVER has an opinion on anything. If you feel like walking out after the first 5 mins, go ahead You wont miss a thing
She's an easy grader, but not really clear with big assignments like research papers. For our final essay, she left out a lot of details that are important to know in order to receive full credit. Other than, the class was easy. All we did was "discuss technology" the entire time.
Easy grader, but don't try to get help from her if you've got a problem. She simply doesn't clarify things if you don't understand. She is also prone to crazed laughter at any time or place.
GREAAAT TEACHER!!
She was a really great teacher. She didn't let anyone know what she felt about the subject so that we were able to form our own opinions.
Pretty easy class. Won't learn much of anything though.
Pretty easygoing class. Basically reviewed some things many of us should already know. Not too much work, and readings can be skimmed during class.
Take this class if you want an easy A! Towards the end there are a bunch of assignments that got a little stressful but seriously...Boring but easy!
She is a little messy and seems stressed sometimes but is really a great teacher. She will totally give you an A and she is so nice!! the class may not be that interesting..well i had no interest in taking it- it worked with my sched. but she works to make things more interesting for us. Take her!
Evelyn is a GREAT cs professor! She does whatever she can to get the class to understand java. She is totally understanding and VERY HELPFUL especially when you see the programming language for the first time. Personally, I totally recommend her as a CS instructor^_^!
I learned alot and got an A for it!!! Great teacher! really nice!
Computers and Social Responsibility was really really easy. It was all group work, and if you split it up properly, you only have to know a fourth of the material most of the class. Midterm was easy, and she gave a clear guide for it. Class is boring and repeptitive, but an easy A if you need it.
Easy class. Repetative but easy A. Gave study guide for midterm - exactly what was on it! Easy and all group work to be done in class. Definately take this class to cover the domain.
Register early! Only class I never ditched! Class was very interesting and fun; concepts were hard, but she explained them clearly. I learned more in this ethics class than I did in other ethics classes. I am now interedted in computer science and will take more classes. She helped me with my writing; something I didn't expect. Great Teacher!
If you need to fufill a PI requirement and this class is open but you decide NOT to take it, I tell you this: YOU ARE A MORON. Easy A. Plus it overlapped with my other classes so I showed up late and left early, but still no prob. Class rarely lasted the whole period. All group work, groups got together and messed around for an hour then left.
Easiest way to fulfill philosophy requirement. Take her.
TOOK THE CLASS OVER DL. EASY HOMEWORK IF YOU STUDY A BIT. POOR COMMUNICATION. EASY OPEN BOOK MIDTERM AND FINAL. KIND OF WEIR THOUGH TO HAVE WRITTEN FINAL AND MIDTERM WITHOUT COMPUTERS, JUST PEN AND PAPER. OVERALL I WOULD TAKE HER AGAIN AFTER I ACED HER JAVA2.
She's kind of hard but she's really helpful!!!
I don't know what people are taking about when they say her CSC208 class is really easy. I found it pretty hard. I think she's just a good teacher. I liked her alot. for show.
Lulis is hilarious! She was an okay teacher but the work was really easy. Take home midterm and final, If you do the work (which is very easy) you should get an easy "A". She even said the first week of class that no one has ever gotten lower than a "C" in her class. You should like your Chances and take her class
It's an easy class. However, if you want to learn something outstanding form this class, don't expect from this one. I mean prof has a great attitude to the topic but all she thought you can "read it yourself." Also she has problem to explain/ clarify sometimes.
Class was very hard, but teacher was very good at explaining things. She covered the material in the text as well as supplementary material. She was always professional and respectful to her students. Great class.
overall easy class. the prof has her days. one day she is super nice, one day she is driving everyone insane. she was really nice, and tried hard, but i felt like i was in high school again, so i will not be taking her again. not worth the frustration.
Not that hard of a class, but I have a really big problem with her because she is a java professor, yet acts like an english professor. She makes us go to the writing center, who says a paper is well done, but she disagrees and will not budge. Grades based off of grammer and how well you write overall instead of content. Very annoying, do not take.
She's GREAT!!! Really loved her. She is really smart and really funny. She is also very understanding and treats all her students like people. Your writing will get better too!! If people don't like her it's only because they must have not gotten a very good grade.
This class is pretty boring, but it is very easy. She can be a tough grader at times, but she also gives a LOT of extra credit. The final was very easy.
She was often late for class, moody. Can't type and used notepad to write in-class programs, so the majority of class was spent debugging her syntax errors. Email communication was a joke. Asking her for help on anything was like pulling teeth, would often accuse you of not knowing the material when you asked for help...what's the point of asking?
She's effective. Very smart. she knows her stuff and is very helpful!
Great! Honestly guys, she's very smart, intelligent, and understanding. I will keep taking her classes. I feel bad that she had to teach a stupid class. The course needs changing for sure.
Please just dont take her, for your own sake. Thats all I have to say. This is the first time I will be meeting with the head of the CTI deparment because she was so bad. Not helpful, very rude, makes you feel like an idiot, even though you are prob. right.
Great teacher; never missed class. she was always respectful, kind, helpful. if you do not do well in her class it is your own fault. she hardly uses powerpoints, but does use the socratic method. by the end of the quarter, she knew everyone's names. i know a few who gave her bad review they were angry because they could not understand the materil
she does a good job. i did not expect to enjoy the class, but did very much. she teaches how to think, not what to think. i was worried about my grade and gave a a bad CTI eval, but didn't need to be. she sought me out, spent time explaining things to me and i did well. i should go to the head of CTI and say how good she is
DO not take her...She is on a permanent power trip. I dont know if it is because she doesn't have anyone to boss around at home but she always makes you feel like she is sooooooo important. She Grades terribly. Always has a very anoyying awkward lauph after everything she says. Overall she sucks!!
As lazy as she seems about the class she teaches (and she barely does that), she just LOVES to nitpick the hell out of your grades, and dock points for idiotic reasons. Made us use writing tutors, and then docked points because I followed something my tutor told me to change. When questioned about it, her reply was "he made you do WHAT?" Avoid her
I completely agree with the two postings below, this teacher is absolutely terrible. She is extremely incomprehensible, as well as an unfair grader. She is lazy, she approaches class as if it is a chore, and shows no interest what so ever. She would hardly qualify as community college material. DO NOT take her!!!
I completely disagree with the posts below! The class was interesting and fun. She was always excited about the material. I hardly miss class and understood the material completely. She was very helpfull and alway there to answer questions. VERY fair grader. If you come to class and do the reading you can get a decent grade. She made me think.
I had a great experience! She is so nice -- the nicest teacher I have had at DePaul. Problem must be with the writing tutors -- I do not think she uses them anymore -- we did not. Interesting class. Hard grader for the papers, but made me learn the material for the final. If you go to class, you can do well. Very intersting class activities.
TAKE THIS CLASS!! it was interesting and the teacher was very respectful and helpful. It helps to go to class, but u don't have to. she teaches how to think not what to think. Can be a hard grader, but it pays off in the end. Also, I am a better writer becasue of this class
While the class is an easy A, Professor Lulis does little to aid her students in attaining any kind of knowledge from her class. While she clearly is extremely intelligent, she lacks open-mindedness and teaching skills. Even though I got an A, I regret wasting my money on this class.
TAKE CLASS! Couldn't disagree more with 2 evals below. She is kind, respectful and open minded. She plays devil's advocate, but I never heard her express her own opinion. she challenges you. I struggled in the class, but she spent hours outside office hours helping me. I took another ethics class and didn't even cover the philopshy like she did.
I see many of these ratings that sound like they are trying to change our minds and were written by a press agent. Hmmm who would doctor a eval like that? I found her difficult and confrontative. . . all the time. I lIke the subject, but not the method.
enjoyed class and lectures. If you have a problem with her it is ur fault. sounds like an angry student being angry
Mostly an easy class, but didn't like her. Takes points off for stupid things, contradicts herself, and hires crappy graders to grade other stuff who suck as well, taking off points for very dumb reasons, then she supports their decisions to do so.
She was an OK professor, she definitely wants you to learn the material but really wasn't available for office hours and her response to email questions always came days later. Class was interesting and I enjoyed it but she definitely didn't prepare you for the midterms and finals.
She's quite awful at teaching the material, I haven't learned a single thing. Hard to pay attention because I never know what she's talking about. Makes the class a lot harder in that way. Take a different professor for this class!!
She is god awful, I did not learn a thing and she is not helpful at all. You do stupid labs every week where everyone basically fails because she is so strict yet does not tell you what she expects on them. Avoid her at all costs!!
Don't take her for LSP121. She seems nice enough but is confusing. She takes stupid points off on assignments and doesn't know how to explain the material. Two people actually got in a shouting matching in our class because they were so frustrated...
Professor Lulis is just okay, she definitley seems very very open and respectful to students needs and what they want in a class. She always asks opinions and has you take a survey in the beginning of the course about what you expect out of a class/teacher. The class seems repetitive however and the labs are tedious. Grading is strange. No midterm.
I don't really know why everyone is complaining about her. I don't care about technology, ethics, or what the course is about, but I got an A on all my assignments. The labs are easy A's, just copy paste from text book and cite. She was super nice to me, and quickly responded to emails. I didn't participate and still got an A. It's not hard.
She's a decent teacher teaching a dry subject. Evelyn knows her subject, and does her best to foster interest in her students. She is a reasonable grader, and tends to be down to earth about class expectations. Not a bad choice if you need to knock out your ethics classes.
The ethical frameworks were barely taught to us. We were expected to learn them all from a handout and example. We did not know what was expected and got docked points for our assignments for doing it wrong when she did not really teach us how to. All the assignments were repetitive. She seems lazy to teach and very unorganized
If I wrote this at the beginning of the course, my rating would have been lower because I was always a little confused. As the course went on, what she expected became more clear. She's a passionate teacher who cares about you having a system to evaluate ethical dilemmas in real life. I think I'll always have Kant and RuleAct util. in my head now.
By the time you realize what she really wants you've dropped a letter grade. Assignment rubrics are unclear and she assumes you know what she wants. She doesn't really teach. Forces participation. No electronics in her class.
The first couple of weeks of this class is frustrating and intimidating. Once you actually get what she is looking for and understand the class, it'll be a least a month in. After that its a lot of weekly assignments, weekly labs, and participation. You'll definitely use the book for this class, its essential! Work hard, and you'll get an A or B
Professor Lulis was very fair and interesting to listen to. She really understands the field and is willing to help. I went to her several times and she had quick, helpful responses. The class isn't easy, but I learned a lot about the frameworks. Do the reading.
Helped me understand the material.
I probably shouldn't be complaining about a teacher who gave me a B, but after the final project I had to say something. Her grading methods are wildly inconsistent, she gets snippy if you have a question about something thats already in the syllabus, and she won't let you open a computer in class EVEN IF YOUR TEXTBOOK IS ON IT
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS PLEASE. The grading is completely inconsistent. GRADING IS SO STRICT, I AM NOT A COMPUTER-SCIENCE MAJOR AND SHE KNOWS THAT HALF THE CLASS IS NOT. Way too much work. Unrealistic. Please don't take this class. Never hated a class at DePaul but wow, this class is awful.
Her paper was the longest I have written so far in college. I've taken multiple English courses and none required such an extensive paper. This is a CSC course that mostly CS students are taking, she should consider that when making her assignments and not us deliverables like we are philosophy grad students.
I took Prof. Lulis' "Ethics in Technology" class for a Computer Language credit and to be completely honest I regret it. She clearly knows what she's talking about, but she does not seem to be able to transfer that to students, and most of my class left each day confused. The syllabus was seven pages long and useless. Not recommended as a teacher.
Awesome teacher. Accessible outside of class. Caring. Makes the most difficult concepts easy to understand. Patient.
I took her for LSP last year and for CS 208. She explaines problems clearly and made things seem easy. I'm not good at math but understood the material in this class. Got an A! Eveyn had a lot of patience. You need to go to class for LSP 121 to pass.
The beginning of this class is hard because she shoves all the material (philosophies) at you through labs and reading assignments in the textbook. You kind of teach yourself until the midterm paper, which she'll give extensive feedback on. That paper along with a presentation is the final.
My original teacher for this course had to take leave so she replaced the previous about after the midterm. She was a very different teacher than who we had before and was expecting a lot more from my class than we were taught/known. If you can understand and differentiate the philosophies in class then you will probably be fine.
A very average teacher, doesn't really explain things well. If you take her class you need to learn a lot outside of class and spend time tracing code. I am very passionate about computer science so spending time outside of class wasn't that big of a deal. If I didn't have a mind for it, this class would be a nightmare.
No late work accepted. Was not very helpful outside of class but lenient when you need extra time. You are just one of the mass to this professor so don't expect them to really help you out with much. The section on ERD modeling was terrible and was focused on way to heavily.
So bad! Do not take her class! I didn't learn anything from her and I only got a good grade because one of my friends in the class already had taken a computer science class so he basically carried me through the course. Now I am playing catchup and it sucks like she is soooo bad. She just reads off powerpoints and doesn't explain anything.
This is one of the worst professors at Depaul. She has no interest to teach the material to the students. Sometimes she asks students to teach the class for her because she doesn't feel like teaching. She made the intro course of CS seem like an unenjoyable mess. I had to withdraw the course because of her. I do not recommend her at all.
The worst professor I've ever had. This class has you reading >70 pages of dense material a week, and each week has homework (usually about 5-6 pages, single-spaced), with group labs (about 3 pages, single-spaced). Her assignments are poorly worded, and she expects everyone to have a graduate level understanding of the material. STAY AWAY!
Worst professor. Lots of work for this class including weekly discussions (both post and comment on someone else's post), weekly email check ins, weekly reading assignments, weekly labs. Shes condescending to her students if they don't know the material as well as her which is always. Always takes off points on assignments. Stay away at all costs!
Terrible teacher for computer science. I do not recommend her if you're taking an intro class. Homework is not based on anything taught in class. She says you cannot look on internet. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!
This was the worst experience Ive had with a professor. Everyone in the class used Google to pass. No one actually learned anything. Made me feel like a failure and horrible student. She assumes everyone is caught up when everyone is actually clueless. Dont take her, do yourself a favor.
Worst professor to take for an intro to computer science class. She really doesn't know how to teach and explain the material clearly. Very condescending towards students when they ask a question. She wouldn't allow us to use google or any type of site that would help us understand the material better. The homework was hard too, I don't recommend!
Wasted forty minutes across the week discussing how to write an email subject line in a particular way she expected students to know, even though it's not taught anywhere. She claimed to have learned this in grammar school. Suspect she was lying, as grammar school didn't cover email etiquette back in the stone age. Condescending if asked a question
One of the most condescending professors ever. SO MUCH reading, writing, assignments. I do less work for a 300 level science class. No elaboration on material, expects us to already know it. Unclear instructions. Toughest grader I have ever had. Forgets there is a pandemic going on. Avoid at all costs.
I cannot believe how much I pay to go to this school just to get stuck with professors like her. Shes more committed to criticizing and failing her students than actually teaching them the material. If youre looking for a sign to not take a comp sci class with Dr. Lulis, this is it.
This is by far one of the worst professors i have ever had. The week of finals, she decided not to answer any Emails and completely ignored all her students. Everything she says only leaves students more confused and she is hesitant to explain. Despite this she herself does not comprehend basic speech and usually decides not to help students.
Evelyn co-taught my class with Paul Sisul, but was not present, for the most part. The assignments seemed to all be written by someone else. The lectures are just a slideshow being read to you. I don't have much more to say about Evelyn because she was, for all intents and purposes, not at all present. That should say enough. Stay away.
She is the one of the worst teachers Ive ever had. She gives out a ridiculous amount of homework when theres absolutely no need for it. 0/10 would recommend.
This professor has given me a hard time in her class. She made the transition from high school to college difficult when I first took her class. Never have I ever had an instructor that was as picky as she was. I understand that it is for the benefit of the students that she is as strict as she is, but I believe she could have been more helpful.
The class Csc208 is a challenging class. Professor Lulis gives great feedback and is accessible through email. There is a lot of homework and readings so beware. The professor is understanding and helps when asked. overall good class but lots of work.
EASILY one of the worst professors I have EVER come across. I pay so much money to go to this school to have been paired with this professor. She is condescending, meticulous, and a hard grader. It's HER way or the highway.
Imagine having an async course, just to be forced to do LAB work synchronously. By far one of the most awful professors I've had. Her lectures are prerecorded and are super vague. She is not good at explaining how to do assignments and even accused her class of using course hero. I've never used it in my life. Do not take her class.
I don't enjoy class with Prof Lulis for many reasons... 1. many assignments due on the same day 2. coursework on D2L is EXTREMELY unorganized 3. assigns so many readings - feels like i'm taking 2 classes 4. fails to upload things on D2L 5. answers questions with a rude attitude! - poor/rude attitude overall 6. calls on you randomly 7. hard grader
The workload for this class is the equivalent of 2 classes. On top of that, she is a VERY harsh grader. I cannot understate this. Very condescending. Feedback: she'll write one critique and the next line says the exact opposite. To pass, you NEED to agree with her. She just seems very bitter and nothing you do will be satisfactory.
PLEASE stay away. She is by far the most inconsiderate prof Ive had at DePaul. If you answer two questions wrong on a 7 question assignment she will give you a 0% and make you redo the whole thing. If your group mates dont contribute to the group assignments, she will still make you complete the entire assignment which was intended for 3 people.
She assigns group work for papers that can be done all by ourselves. She expects us to get along with the group for the whole quarter and then gives a group evaluation form near the end, even though group members slack throughout. She assigns way too many readings, does not remind people of due dates, is disorganized, and calls on people randomly.
WORST TEACHER IN CDM BY FAR!!!!! Dr. Lulis says she has "high expectations" when giving students ZEROS and really just means she expects you to write EXACTLY her thoughts which is just ridiculous for an async ethics class where she doesn't even post lectures just readings. She also has weekly group projects for an async class -- HORRIBLE!!!!!
Says she is "always happy to help", could not be farther from the truth. So disorganized it is painful and so rude it is insulting. I could not believe how she talked to me, I have never experienced anything as unprofessional as this 'teacher' in my four years of college.
if you dont agree with her you wont get a good grade. if you dont write exactly what shes thinking, you wont get a good grade. nothing ever pleases her, and its never enough. not to mention her feedback is useless and could have been avoided if she taught us well in the first place.
For a required async class, the amount of busy work that you have to complete is ridiculous. Plus you also have to do group labs on top of that which are graded as if they're exams. I get it, be an ethical person. Why is this even a class?
Miserable class. Provided templates were cobbled together word documents that were hardly usable, and yet your grade depends on using them with no formatting errors. Her feedback is worse than useless, and unless you parrot back exactly what she is thinking she will dock major points. The worst academic instructor I have ever had a class with.
Will dock you for using italics and bolding in your group lab assignments or for what she deems but does not define to her students as "improper formatting". Give unclear directions on assignments and uses word documents for most assignments making things difficult to work around, I would avoid especially if taking asynchronously.
Not clear explanations of any of the assignments, and many of the times you will fall behind due to her poor explanations. You will have to figure stuff out on your own because many of the labs are poorly explained along with what to do within the assignments.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Extremely vague in what she would like done on her assignments and half the time I found myself having to explain what I wrote down for her to finally realize that I in fact did what she wanted me to, as if she hadn't even tried reading the assignment herself. Seriously ridiculous grading on things like format of word documents.
Not only is this professor unable to take criticism, but they are downright rude to their students. If you don't unmute immediately to answer something, she will start saying "hello? hello?!" and going on tangents about how leaving during class is disrespectful, despite only ten seconds passing.
A lot of the criticism of Professor Lulis on this website is a bit over the top, but it speaks to a consistent issue. She teaches classes about technology, but she's terrible at using educational software. Word documents are poorly formatted, online lectures are disorganized, everything is just needlessly inconvenient. Otherwise unremarkable.
Not good. I would rate 0 out of 5 if I could. If the book were the professor it would have done a better job. I am tired of the CTA example. She is an incredibly subjective grader. If your opinion does not align with her's expect an F. If you are a straight-A student, expect a B/C. She said that I couldn't eat my Lunchables. Actual witch. AVOID!!!!
Expects us to work on weekends but wont communicate with you if you need help over the weekend because "she has a life!" The final paper is not very hard. She docks points on essays bc she obviously doesnt read them (I was docked 15% for "not discussing" something that was CLEARLY in the writing). I hope she sees this and responds to it lmao. AVOID
Prof Lulis does let you redo assignments if they are done 'wrong' in her eyes. Very poor formatting on the homework, D2L is a disaster zone, unhelpful lectures, and extremely contradictory as to what she wants on the assignments. Formatting is a big issue for her but good luck figuring out exactly what she wants for the formatting. Avoid!!!
You will be called on randomly to answer questions, however, most people are usually prepared. Make sure you do the readings (required prior to class) or else you will be scrambling during class to answer questions you don't know. Group projects throughout semester, pretty easy not bad. Final essay easy if you understand the material. Very likable.
In my four years here at DePaul there has not been a single professor I disliked with the exception of Evelyn. The course material is unorganized, unprofessional, and riddled with errors. The work is excessive and extraneous. She is heavily inaccessible outside of class and does not even show up to her own appointments. Avoid her at all costs.
Applying the ethical frameworks is a pain... She expects you to apply them like mathematical proofs and get the exact same answer she has, which is not easy to do. Oddly strict about formatting, and takes off points for changing the formatting of her documents, like adding extra spacing here and there...
She gives you feedback on the main papers you have to do for this class. But no matter how much you apply the feedback, she will still find a way to take off points and give you a bad score. Once you complete this course you will see how the professor seems like the type to want students to not succeed.
Worst professor ever. You have to think exactly what she is thinking otherwise points taken off. She also does not let you leave class despite it being online sync and camera off. She also does not care to know students as she accused me of not attending class after she would call on me randomly at least 3 times every class. Very very disrespectful
If someone else teaches this class take them. If you were to stack the amount of readings she assigned ontop of each other and climb them I am sure you could reach heaven. Horrible professor and sets out to sabatoge students. SAVE YOURSELF! 4 group labs, horrible feeback and takes off points for anything.
Please do not take a class with Evelyn. My main issue with this this class was the final project. She posts a template and video instructions for how to complete the final project and even if you do everything exactly as it is described in the instrustions, you will still get a D or F. Nothing you can do will meet her expectations.
Whatever you do, do NOT take a class with Evelyn Lulis. She may give you directions for an assignment but if you don't complete the task as she thinks it should be done. you will not pass. There is no flexibility with her. DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASSES WITH HER. save yourself
Absolutely horrendous class. If you don't do everything EXACTLY as she expects, you will be redoing your work over and over again. You will be redoing parts of the final project if she doesn't fully understand it. She takes too long to provide feedback, so you sit and wait, just to redo your work multiple times. Do not recommend at all.
First of all her d2l is insanely unorganized. Its so difficult to learn at first. There's so many reading every week and its overwhelming, especially when its not clear what readings are mandatory and when she complains to the whole class about how no one does the readings. That too, she is always so passive aggresive and rude. Just dont.
if you take her, im praying for you and im an atheist. never ignoring a rate my prof rating again.
She is a really tough grader, its nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get a good grade in her projects. She assigns way too much to read and her organisation on D2L is a mess. If you take this class, youre gonna spend more time reading and preparing to meet her insanely high standards. For an ethics professor its unethical of her to take questions off quizlet.
Don't take her class. Online class but she gives group projects. Isn't clear on what she wants. Expects you to be perfect. Just save yourself and do not take her class, not worth the time you'll put into it.
She is an ok professor and gives a decent amount of work. If you are expecting an easy A and don't like for philosophy don't take this class. Her online class is disorganized and her grading is not helpful and tough. She believes philosophy frameworks are like math proofs so it's hard to do well in the labs and final. Look for another teacher.
This class with Evelyn is no walk in the park. She expects you to read her mind on assignments, and the workload is brutal. However, Unstuck study was a lifesaver for organizing my study materials and staying on top of things. Overall, not the easiest class, but with the right tools, it's doable.
Where do I even begin. Her D2L is a mess, most of her quiz questions are copy-pasted, the class primary focuses on group work, so if you get stuck with a crummy group, good luck, and she nitpicks everything. She expects you to just "know" everything she wants, and teaches ethics as a simple one answer problem. Avoid her at all costs.
My issue with Ms. Lulis was not her class. It was vaguely interesting and not difficult as long as you're good at keeping up with readings. It was that she was an absolute mess. In complete fairness it was an online class, but her class organization was so abysmal I had to give her advice on it, and her assignment instructions were equally unclear.
never dreaded going to a class until this one. every instruction given in the class was vague and often required us to try to read her mind, and she was never forgiving on misunderstanding the instructions and was usually condescending about it.
Dont take async. The D2L was a mess from the beginning and I addressed it in the beginning of the class. If you forgot to turn in an assignment there was no forgiveness except for the final paper. When it came to the final paper she ripped my draft apart and basically told me I did it all wrong. I have never experienced a teacher like this.
literally the worst. Accused me of not doing my work for lab when I submitted for my group?? and accused me of not attending class when she would call on me every class. never apologized. Also used satanism as an argument against my answer for class discussion, an answer that SHE gave us in a previous lecture...? she has no respect for anyone!
Saw the reviews for Dr. Lulis, but decided to push through the class anyway - big mistake! Grades very critically, none of her documents are formatted well, yet she takes off points if you use the wrong font size or color. Prepare to do every tiny thing EXACTLY her way. The final is way too long & redundant. I am a straight A student & struggling.
difficult grader with incredibly specific guidelines that, if not followed, will result in point deductions that do not seem reasonable. despite it being an asynchronous class , waits as long as possible to post materials and thus not give adequate time in an already shortened course. if you can avoid evelyn lulis i highly suggest that you do.
By far the worst college professor I have ever experienced. Extremely strict grading criteria with templated, generic feedback. She docks your answer for not aligning with her format. This was an async class with a MANDATORY 1 on 1 where she berates you and your paper for an hour. I thought despite the reviews, async would be ok. DO NOT TAKE.
Her teaching methods are not useful at all.
Not the biggest fan of her. She's pretty scary when it comes to grading, and I somehow managed to pass the final exam after spending 9 hopeless hours on it. I've had a fair share of things be poorly graded for formatting when the formatting of the papers themselves are pretty... bad. Stay on top of the material 24/7 if you wanna make it out alive.
Never encountered a professor that made a class as unnecessarily difficult as her. Has VERY rigid idea of what she wants but doesn't communicate it well. Taking her class feels like living in Orwells 1984 bc she constantly contradicts herself and claims she never did. Would delay graduation an extra year if it meant never taking her class again.
Yeah, the sea of 1/5s are accurate. Found that out the hard way, so instead of echoing what everyone already said, I will add that considering her horrific instructions and feedback, her grading is weirdly generous. I strongly advise you avoid this class, but if you get stuck in it, you'll probably make it out fine. Just with gray hairs at age 20.
