Can get the lectures from Blackboard and her tests are pretty easy because she provides you with a study guide. Not very good at keeping a class interested. Pretty random in inflection and topic matter. Goes off on things of little importance at a moment's notice. Attendance grade a bummer.
Class isn't terribly difficult. All notes posted on blackboard and exercises are simple and straightforward.Exercises do not have relevance to tests though. Not familiar with Michigan area, which leads to questions she asks you. Watch the attendance though, she gets unruly if you leave early!
ICK!!! She is boring. Her lectures are pretty basic, and her notes on blackboard, but her test are DIFFICULT. I do not suggest taking her.
Easy class. Notes and study guide are easy to follow to make an easy test. Attendance does suck. Hard as hell to keep your interest. Bring a book to read during her class.
Wow, unbelievably boring. Her ramblings are so incoherent and hard to follow going to class is almost counter-productive. Notes are on blackboard but have no help value on the tests. Pick a different prof
Not a bad class, just take good notes (dosen't use book). Be sure to show up, do the assignments and you'll do fine. She give out study guides for tests and notes are on blackboard.
Here are the basics: class is easy if you can tolerate her random thoughts. If you do the study guide, you will do well on the exam. Pay attention when she talks about the maps on Power Point, that is where you will get details that aren't on the Power Point notes. My advice is to attend class.
This class IS NOT EASY! Dont read what people have said about it being easy because its not. Yes she gives study guides and puts her notes on blackboard but they have almost NO RELEVANCE to the tests whatsoever. I wrote down verbatim her notes on the essays and still didnt get full credit.Dont take!
Take good notes and review them well before the test andyou will do just fine. Her powerpoints are over 75% of what is on the test. Good prof.
If you just print out the powerpoint notes and take notes in class, the tests aren't that bad. She has a lot of open ended questions on the tests though. Sometimes you have to make yourself pay attention in class. but over all its not too bad, I would try to take someone else if all possible
This is by far the worst professor I have had in my lifetime. She does all of her teaching from powerpoint & to top it off she has historical errors (wrong dates) & spelling errors. I have not been able to attend one class without falling asleep. Also, she is very nutty about her attendance policy.
Boring!!! Notes of powerpoint are very important. Make sure to do the review sheets, test is over every detail on them. Make sure to go to class...and DON'T even think about leaving early, she'll throw a fit. Not too difficult, but if able, take someone else.
This class is very hard. The news article assignments were the easiest thing. The powerpoint presentations were very boring and the tests were hard too. If there had been some extra credit it would have been better. I don't recommend this class.
I had over 100% going into the final and didnt study hard for it and still managed a 4.0 in the class. Anyone who has problems, didnt attend class, didnt use the powerpoint notes, didn't use the study guide. It is very easy if you follow how she set up the class. Exams were extremely easy.
Evelyn's lectures were horrible especially in a three hour class. Overall, the assignments were easy, it was the exams that were hard. She will give you a study guide and most of that information won't be on there. She is nice though and extremely hot.
Ms. Ravuri is not a bad teacher. You really have to pay attention to what she is saying, because a lot of the time some questions on the tests come from lecture, not including what is on blackboard. Although she uses blackboard, everything basically comes from there, few things from the book also.

she has a lot of holes in her notes that she fills in with lecture. she does not ditinguich between what is important information and a tangent. she only offers 345 points in the class so it is easy to lose your grade very quickly. i mean lose 24 points and you're at an a-. take grolle.
Her notes are on powerpoint and are BORING. She assigns one paper/presentation which is pretty easy. But has 3 DIFFICULT exams. Offers a study guide for each, but the study guides do not help at all. AVOID taking her, Take Grolle!
The tests are about 85% over the powerpoint, other than that, she only assigns around 5 pages to read to study for the tests. Tests are very easy. She always ends up adding a few points afterwards to raise everyones grades. You have to be really stupid not to pass the class.
Puts all the notes on powerpoint. Easy 10 point quizes if you read what she tells you. Do study sheet for tests and they will be easy. One paper that you can turn in more than once. Pretty easy class.
She's not very clear at all. The quizzes are easy but when it comes to the exams, she will give you a study guide but the stuffs not on the exams. It's crazy! AVOID HER
Just do your work, show up and don't sleep. All the complants are from the people that skip or don't take notes. Write whats in the powerpoint then fill in what in the lecture. I enjoyed the class and I would take another class with her if I could.
Easy class, just read the powerpoints and do the study guides for the tests and you'll get an A. You only have to read a few pages from the book for each test. Easy class.
great prof, just study from the book and powerpoints and the study guide you will do fine, also study for the map quizes and quiz and discussion they will help you out in the long run .. take her if you can
hardly study for tests, still did good. go to class, easy grade
I generally enjoyed going to class. The class was not difficult but it wasn't easy either. At last a prof. that doesn't give long assignments that take up 75% of your time! I appreciate that because most of us have other things to do! She is an asset to the SVSU Staff.
I don't care for geography, but the teacher was always there if you had a question. There were 3 exams including the final, 1 (somewhat long) paper and a 5 minute presentation. I managed an A, but I worked hard for it. Out of other geo teachers I recommend her - she was very helpful.
She's an alright teacher. Class is pretty boring and she talks a little funny. The first test was really straight forward but things got a little squirrely from there. It's not too bad for a CI course though. It's pretty practical material too.
Interesting and somewhat easy class...as long as you study for the map quizes and tests you should be alright....I would take another class taught by her..
Nice lady; tests are ridiculously difficult!
Dr. Ravuri is a great teacher. She explains everything in detail and test are easy if you study.
She is an excellent professor. Very helpful. She travels and knows what she's about. An A is very possible, but you will have to work for it! Keys to success: Attend classes, study PowerPoints and lecture notes, participate in class and did I say STUDY? .... (not passively)--note card level. You must put forth effort for an A. Really Nice Lady!!
Waste of time class. i was bored the whole time, but made it through with a B+. she does all the powerpoints and if you print them off BB and take notes it is not hard. WARNING: the woman has a speech issue. she can not keep a pace, she pauses odd and freezes it is really difficult to follow.
Uses powerpoints during lecture, and puts them on on blackboard. Take notes, study the powerpoints, and do the review to study for the exams. The class was not horribly interesting.
If you do a half-assed job paying attention in class and do a quick review before tests and quizzes you could probably ace this class without too much trouble. Tests are exactly what she tells you they're going to be. Go to class, she randomly takes attendance.
She's very nice. Easy class, not too much homework, considering it's a CI course. Considering how dull Geography was, she did a decent job teaching it. She takes attendence and gives you an according grade, so you pretty much have to be there.
Class was very boring!!! I had a really hard time making it through the 4-7 time frame. It was pretty easy..just make sure you plenty of caffeine in you before class so you can stay awake!
Dr. Ravuri is not that hard of a teacher. She does ramble on randomly and her tests are comprised of nothing she lectures about. I showed up for maybe half of the classes and pulled and easy B. I would say take her, anyone could use a nice nap for an hour and a half.
Class was not that difficult as long as you attend. Take notes on what she says and use your slides for studying and you should be ok. Helps to know real-world examples for everything -- that is the majority of the tests. Papers/presentation was no big deal. Boring, but easy.
She is a great teacher. She hardly ever assigns homework. There are reading assignments that are very easy (3-7 pages tops). She gives quite a few quizzes, but has extra credit assignments. She gives you everything you need to do well in her class.
Good teacher and a really easy class. Just do the work and take notes and you'll do fine. The only ones who fail the class are those who don't want to work for a grade.
This class is not hard. You do have to attend because you do work out of workbook in class and its like 20% of your grade. You do have to write a research paper and give a presentation on it. You also Have to read articles every week and take a quiz. Not an easy class by any means. But it isnt terribly hard either
Prof. Ravuri gives great lectures that show that she knows what she's talking about. The only problem I had with her were the quizzes out of the text. There would be questions that were based off of one little sentence that really hold no significance over the whole chapter.
Lectures can get a little boring, but it's the subject really not her so much. She gives out extra credit throughout the semester and gives a reading quiz from the book once in awhile. Gives points for attendence- would recommend her, she's pretty cool.
Great professor! Lectures are kind of boring sometimes but she tries to keep it interesting and use 'regular' language so you're not lost. Study for the quizzes and tests and you should do fine.
She loves geography, but the course is not easy by any means. She's tough but she tries to help as uch s possible. Bad at emailing back, and a little scatter-brained sometimes. Quizzes are ridiculous:based off of 1 sentence. Tests:study adn you'll do alright.
Her lectures are very easy to listen to and follow, and some parts are very interesting. She really knows what she is talking about. She makes study guides for all the tests which are extremely helpful, and gives 10 point quizzes on easy reading in the book.
Really easy to follow, the work is easy if you just do it. Going to class is easy points. She posts her power points online but I never used them and still got an A. She also gives study guides for all of her exams which makes the exams really easy. She tries to make the material interesting with her personal experiences
Not bad. She's boring, but she loves what she teaches. Willing to help and not a bad person. It was just hard to keep my eyes open during her lectures.
WORST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD!! Her power points barely have any information on what you should be covering on there, mostly pictures that are just useless. All of the answers to the study guides don't relate to what is taught in class; you have to research it online yourself. The exams hardly correspond to what was on the study guide.
I swear she talked in circles when she taught. The powerpoints lacked info, the reviews and tests didnt correspond at all, and the reading quizzes didnt make no sense. The harder I worked the less it showed because she always left info out. I never been so frustated in my life with a professor in a class that couldve been easier.
AWESOME teacher, she loves her subject and makes it interesting. Study lectures, quizzes are easy as long as you read what she tells you. Would take this instructor for more classes.
Shes diffinatley into what she teaches. I just kinda fell asleep in the classes.
Took for 201 and one of my favorite classes, made me switch my minor to geography! Def need the text book, there are alot of EASY reading quizzes but she'll give you the exact pages to read, usually only 2 or 3. gives extra credit, no essays, no presentations. my next comment will be about essays!
Her exams are straight forward. She gives extremely helpful study guides, that go along perfectly with the lectures, there are 3 and exam is not cumulative. usually gives at least one point per question for effort if the effort is there. Really loves geography and is so sweet!
my fav professor at svsu by far, so easy to talk to, she loves this subject and it really shows which makes you love it more, cares about her students, wants everyone to do well, and the reading quizzes are so easy she gives you the exact pages itll come from usually only 2 or 3 pages. love this professor!
Pay attention during lecture and take good notes. Study for readings quizes, they can be difficult.
Avoid this class at all costs. Terrible teacher! She does not know how to convey information to students. She would rather talk about all her trips around the world than teach what was actually necessary. Made an already boring class, completely terrible.
She gives you everything you need to pass. Take the Map Quizzes and Reading Quizzes very seriously as they will help your grade out!! Tests are a little difficult so take good notes and make sure you are prepared!
I thought id hate the class but she makes it very interesting and fun. What really sucks is that its very hard to do well on her reading quizes. Read the pages multiple times! Her quizes are tough not much is from the study guide she gives you, very hard to do well in her class.
4 Exams (gives study guides) including the final & 6 reading quizzes which are easy. Definitely have to study for exams but she really loves what she does & clearly has a passion for it. She does take attendance. Honestly did minimal study & still got a B+.. just pay attention during class. Exams are multiple choice & short answer.
The most important thing to remember in this class is take notes on lectures! Over half of the test material comes from what she says in lecture, and is often not written on the power points. This was a hard class, but Evelyn is willing to help. Also, she gives you tons of time for the final paper which was great. It's also an easy CI course.
Great professor. Does give long lectures but along with power points, available online. Good at making things clear. Can be serious or laid back/funny. Doesn't take attendance but if you skip, you miss lectures (about 80% of info given in lectures are on the exam). Doesn't care if you sleep in class or on phone as long as you're not disruptive.
Evelyn is so passionate about geography and is so full of knowledge! Her lectures are posted online and she thoroughly goes over them in class. Tests follow the study guides exactly! Some reading and map quizzes but they are easy. Definitely recommend!
The more difficult part of the class Is large essay. The class is an easy A, however, if you do poorly on one assignment, it will take some time to get your grade back up. If you're an irritable person, you don't want to take this class. Professor Ravuri can be very bothersome, especially if you take this early in the morning.
Dr. Ravuri is an excellent professor. Anyone that says otherwise either had a bad attitude about the class because of the subject, or would rather be on their phone or checking facebook during class. She's passionate about the subject, and conveys the information in ways extremely easy to understand. It's simple: listen to the lecture.
This is an easy A class if you you just watch the online lectures and take a few notes. The class is set up very well and you know exactly what to expect. Quizzes and tests come right from the lectures and you can take quizzes twice. She posts things pretty far in advance so you can work again. The book was used of study guides so it is useful.
Awesome professor. Super easy course and interesting as well. The online course is set up very well. Quizzes correspond to the video lectures she posts. Exams are half book based and half lecture based. Book based questions are given a study guide. Be sure to take detailed notes during the lecture videos. Easy A. Loved this course.
This online course was very easy. There are short quizzes every week, along with one short assignment. I spent little time on this class every week. She is an easy grader too. If you do the assignment, she usually just gives you credit. Also responds to emails quickly.
Ravuri is a great professor, this is an easy class if you do the work. Each module you watch an online lecture that is about 15 minutes long, then you take a quiz after watching it. Each module has either 3-6 quizzes on it, and there are 8 modules total over the course of the semester with 3 exams. And some easy homework assignments.
I am typically not interested in Geography but she made class enjoyable even if it was at 8:30 in the morning. The tests were very easy, do the study guides and you will do fine. There's 1 paper and a presentation but, she is an easy grader. I would recommend to anyone!
She is dry and has lots of quirks. Its unclear what she is actually going to grade or not. Shes not a hard professor by any means, she is just odd.
Take this class online if you need 3 easy credits. You have plenty of time to complete 8 different modules through the semester and each are fairly easy. I'm taking this with 17 other credits and am having no problem keeping up.
This class was difficult. If you are not a history person (like me) I would not take this course with this professor. She is very into what she teaches and expects us to know the material already. She has lectures every day and she does give out study guides for exams. Her study guides are just like the actual exams.
Class is only graded on sapling website, map quizzes, and easy exams. Is lecture heavy, but powerpoint are on canvas is need to look back.
Ravuri was an ok professor to take. This class was online, but I felt like she didn't care too much about it. For the two final papers due, i dont remember seeing a rubic on how they were graded & she didn't provide feedback for the rough drafts we submitted. And both my final papers got the same grade, so I feel like she just gave a default grade.
Very easy class taken online. Easy quizzes weekly and no exams. Two papers graded fairly easily.
The online class was very easy to sit down and get done within one day. The hardest part was the reading quizzes from the book so buy the book! Sapling hmwk was easy, the lecture quizzes were easy (got two attempts) and 10 extra credit points were offered the last 2 weeks. Ravuri was not very nice when responding to emails, not open to suggestions.
Professor Ravuri was ok. This class was not hard, however there is not a ton of points to earn throughout the course. Your grade consists of lecture quizzes, a few discussion posts/assignments, and reading quizzes. The reading quizzes are the most challenging part, followed by the assignments. Overall, if you enjoy busy work, I would recommend her.
Syllabus said we were presenting our presentations online but then she told us a couple days before that we were meeting in person. Be prepared for major changes to the syllabus at any time. One paper but the minimum is EIGHT pages
The class itself has a few challenging assignments, but overall is not too bad. If you turn in assignments a couple of days early you are more likely to get a better grade. The discussion posts are so easy, and the quizzes are easy as long as you pay attention during lecture. As long as you do the work you will be fine.
She is very passionate about geography but her class takes lots of time to complete. Attendance is not mandatory but the lectures online add up to about two hours every week. The quizzes are super easy because you get two attempts. The midterm was very difficult and the research paper took a lot of time.
Im not sure how she is in person, but I took her online and it wasnt bad at all. It was a very easy class. Quizzes were on video lectures that were about 25 mins long, she makes the answers clear in the lectures too. I would definitely take her online if you have the chance to.
I really liked how everything was set up video wise and a quick quiz after for the majority of the class. There were very few projects and assignments in her online class. The one thing that I dislike about her class is that she gives us 45 minutes to complete 40 questions on the exam. She is very responsive to emails and concerns.
She assigns a lot of videos to watch that she filmed in 2016 so she is not very active in the class. The videos can take upwards of 2 hours a week depending on how many she assigns. The exams, midterm and final, are tough. You have 45 minutes to answer 40 questions, you never have time to go back and look at your answers.
Not a fan of Ravuri. I wouldn't take her class again if I had any other option. Lecture videos are beyond boring and are sleep-inducing. Not very helpful when you ask for help. Her grading is off and the criteria isn't very clear.
Exams are pretty easy if you have the book with you and have read it. This is online, so you can go back and rewatch the lecture over and over.
Dr. Ravuri is not always the clearest in her lectures. It is sometimes hard to understand the point she is trying to make. This class is very passable, mostly everything was multiple choice, but guessing will not get you far, so just make sure you do the work. She does not care much about grammar from what I gathered.
Prof Ravuri is not a good teacher. Her lectures were confusing and she did not explain the information well at all. Her tests were hard because you had to read through 5 chapters of the textbook to find the answers. There was one big paper we had to write and she graded it super tough and her comments were condescending. I wouldn't take her!
The quizzes are easy (high A's or 100s on all of them). However, the exams were very tough (C's/D's on all of them). Exams are nothing like the quizzes or lectures. If you take this class, get the book online so you can ctrl-f and search the book. She grades papers and things like that very fairly.
It was a pretty good class as the quizzes lined up with the lectures almost 100% which was wonderful. I really enjoyed doing the Assignments or Projects they were thought out and had clear and concise directions. The thing that tanked my grade so much was the Exams. The Exams had information so minuscular that shouldn't have been on there.
In this semester's GEOG202! there were no online exams, only quizzes with up to 2 attempts. The whole class maybe take an hour or two each week with one bigger (7-10 page) paper and some small discussion assignments. Overall the course was really easy for a communication-intensive, she graded fair and gave out A's as long as you did the assignment.
There is a decent amount of lectures every week online, and frequent quizzes. Homework isn't too difficult, but the exams are a bit more tough. 10 page research paper is a requirement and takes a lot of time to put together on the assigned topics. Very manageable work load in all honesty with 4 other classes.
I took this during summer 2023. It was so easy! No exams, a few short assignments. Just watch videos and answer questions. I would definitely recommend taking during summer, rather than fall/winter. It was even accelerated, but didn't really feel that way.
Professor Ravuri provided clear instructions for the class and responds back to emails promptly. Don't wait for the last minute on the city analysis paper as it is labor intensive and requires a lot of work. I would take this class again; it was very manageable to take with a full class load.
she is RUDE
I had a hybrid class with Ravuri I would not recommend it. she is an okay professor. Every week she assigns 3 videos that are collectively about an hour and a half long and questions to go along with them its not hard just time consuming she has us get a textbook and only uses it for one assignment at the beginning of the year.
She grades generously and responds to emails fast. No exams, but has lots of quizzes and homework assignments that are really easy. Most papers aren't too bad, but beware the city analysis essay... takes lots of time and is very exhausting. The textbook is a must.
Great if you are taking a summer class. Just pay attention to the lectures and videos and you will do fine. This was mostly quizzes with a few discussions and papers. Take this class with this professor, you will not regret it :) 10/10
Professor Ravuri's class had its ups and downs. The lectures could be dry, but staying engaged and using tools like Unstuckstudy for study prep made the quizzes and assignments manageable. Overall, it's a fair class if you put in the work.
I took hybrid class, tests in person. Decent amount of work, but not crazy by any means. I found the textbook pdf online for free. There was some weird scheduling and lack of explanation about the final exam, but it worked out. Just dont forget to check due dates. The reading questions add up.
