Great teacher, very intelligence professor and if you foreign your english level will be improve after her class.
Easy A. Televised course and most of the time went into attendence taking. Lectures was easy and discussion was interesting.
Very good teacher. I learned alot.
she is one of my best teacher, I learn because she cares about each one, and wants you to succeed in career goals. She will fair and will make effort, if you the student do your part, have good attendance and do your work on time. Recommend her if you are serious about learning. She is not a hard grader.reasonable homework.
Disorganized, seemed to teach strictly from the powerpoint presentation rather than her own knowledge, rampant mispronunciations, misspellings on tests and ridiculously unclear questions (so much so she gave everyone 10 questions gratis for being so unclear). Hard to follow, uninteresting, and boring. And I'm trying to be nice.
I loved children and I love to learn about new teaching methods. She ruined it for me. I have never had a teacher that alienated me just to yell at me in front of the whole class. I was the student that participated the most& knew all the answers. Even when there was proof she was wrong on the date of an assignment, she'd still mark ppl down.
Lecture straight from notes. Requires chapter summaries & chapter vocabs (time consuming!). Easy grader but very picky on due dates. Does not accept latework. Requires lots of participation from homeviwers & will call on you to call in & if you don't, will count it as an absence. Positive but very direct & serious. Makes it hard to ask questions.
This class was horrible. She is so disorganized by assigning a whole bunch of work and not recording them down. Make sure to keep returned assignments because she will not give you credits for them.
My least favorate professor of all times. Super disorganized when it comes to recording your assignments. Tons of assignments and homeworks. I strongly discourage you to take the TV class. Many times when you have to call the operators don't connect you and then you get an absence. And you can never hear well when you are connected to the class.
I think she is a great teacher. I really enjoyed her class. The only problem I see is that come grading time, you MUST check to make sure she has given you all the points YOU earned; double-check your grades and keep all work. I highly recommend this class. Several classes felt like a good sermon. I was saying "amen" to alot of her lectures!
She is a very smart professor and very knowledgeable about everything under the sun. I enjoyed her class because it applies to your daily life. She does not lecture about the topics that much--mostly you'll learn through reading the book--just show up in class and do all the homework(there is plenty) and you'll do fine.
Does not seem like she cares much for students. I had asked her a question, and she simply replied with "read your syll", when the answer I was looking for was not even on there. Clear sign of "back off", dropped the class.
If you are looking for a well organized, structured, interesting online class...This is not the one!!! This is the worst online class I have ever taken. This professor is not interested in helping the students at all! Dont dare ask a question and who knows if she even reads the assignments we turn in. Terrible professor!!!
Interesting in the beginning but not a lot of textbook discussion. don't even have to read the text to do well. lectures are based on classroom personal experience and not really associated with current chapters. a lot of off topic discussions. final was at hometown buffet, complete waste of time. all we did was turn in final assignments.
I have to assume that this instructor is unfamiliar with how to structure an online class. This was my third online class. Had I not been familiar with how online works and the material, I would have been lost. Test questions apparently come from the text company, but do not reflect what you actually learn. Save all work and sent emails!
This was my 2nd online class and it was horrible. This professor does not want you to ask any questions and if you do she will respond abrupt and rude in her e-mails. If you have questions about the assignments she will tell you to read your syllabus. She tried to start her online class 2 weeks before it was scheduled to start and so I complained
This class was my first online class and it was terrible! The professor is extremely rude and does not clarify anything. She does not care about helping her strudents at all. I emailed her with questions and she didn't respond to any of them. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES!!
this is my first online class. For me it was an easy A. if you are self motivated you will do fine. She grades off creativity, so there is no point of asking her questions. she has no guidelines therefore however you want to do the assignment, do it and most likely it will be right. You can take each exam twice and they are identical.
Hated this professor she is sooo rude.i would have liked to participate in class but she made me not want to. she was rude to all her students and if someone had a question shed just respond rude. i would not take her classes. she wants students to listen to her and basically not give their opinion...
Either she does not understand the format and importance of communication skills, or she doesn't care. She was completely rude, couldn't form a complete sentence. The syllabus had wrong information. She refused to tell us when the final was after numerous emails. I love online classes but she is just not meant to teach them.
She has no teacher student communication skills. I took her class online and passed but I barely used the textbook. She had no time it seemed for her online classes and always seemed to be irritated when we called.
she doesnt know how to communicate. if you ask her a question she just tells you to look it up. that kinda defeats the purpose of going to school. she loves to talk big like she knows everything but never teaches it to us. i took the tv class and she may have appeared nice on camera but when the camera was off she is a diff person. not recommended!
I liked her as a person. She is funny, she knows what she is talking about, she is a forward person. The class discussions are fun.I liked her.BUT...don't take anything online with her.She is great but when it comes to communicating through mail she is not the right person for it.
RUDE as Professor! Very Hypocrite!
I highly recommend: DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!!!She never responds to anything:email, calls or even when you are patch through the tv class. Dont make a mistake!!Give yourself a favor!Worst worst worst teacher ever!!Her inclass works are very irrelevant and also her test questions, which she randomly picked out of the book.Dont take this class.
This class has a lot of in class discussion and the lectures are interesting. The major drawback is the lectures 80% of the time don't even help with the exam. Most of the questions are really random and require you to look the info up one by one. She can be quite rude if you ask her a question or gives you really harsh tones, but class is easy
Professor Silva may seem, in the beginning, to be not the friendliest person, but that's far from the truth. Many of our class met an hour before class just so we'd be on time for her, that's how much we enjoyed her and the community she encouraged between our class. She may seem a little stern, but she is fair, and is a great instructor!
I've had her for one class. She was tuff. She was pretty vague at times, and was sometimes difficult to approach. Good luck!
Be on time to class. Doesn't except late work even by one minute. Online timed tests. you study questions prior she doesn't help. You cant find answer too bad. Doesn't give printout of correct answers to know for final. Don't email your work turn it in class if you want your paper graded on time & not have to re-email it to her. Has some good stori
Not approachable at times. Doesn't return emails or phone calls. Have She has good stories. Good parenting tips. As far as teaching shes not the best. Class goes by pretty fast not boring. Shes not very helpful when it comes to tests. Wants you to learn the material on your own for tests. Answers were sometimes unavailble in the book. Odd grader
Professor does not provide up-to-date syllabus and assignments are given on a timely basis. She penalizes student for her lack of organization and communication.
She is extremely unorganized. Rude, confusing. She made a mistake on my grades, admitted it was her fault, but her pride was too big to correct the problem. I would not recommend taking her classes unless you plan to read a textbook start to finish AND research every subject of her course with other books as well.
I stream her class online and she was far less-than-helpful when I was stricken with power outages and technical difficulties (which Distance Education admitted was their fault). She is scatterbrained, uninteresting, and seems to be very dull when it comes to expression. I suggest changing your major or finding another teacher :P
Only needed the book for the online exams so don't spend the $$ on the newest edition. Must go to class, and turn in all homework to get an A.
she gives all your notes on powerpoints, seems like she just copied it down from the book. Probably afraid to answer any questions because she probably doesn't know the material well enough..
Please don't take this class if you can't read someone's mind because she is so completely unclear its rediculous. This professor always acts like her lack of clarity and information is the student's fault. Terrible.
DO NOT TAKE HER SECTION -- FIND ANY OTHER INSTRUCTOR!!! She is completely unorganized, slow to answer time sensitive questions (like when things are due), and rude when answering questions. I am still trying to get through this semester with her, but my grades has not been updated in over a month and a half! Horrible course, terrible instructor!!!
I had never dropped a class because of how bad the teacher was before her, and I've had some bad teachers. Go to a different college to avoid having to take her, it will be worth it.
STAY AWAY! This instructor cares nothing for her craft. She gave a comprehensive final with irrelevant questions that weren't in the text. It was an online class. Ask her a question and see if you get a straight answer, if any. She cares nothing for the student; only the paycheck. Thanks Evelyn, but it's time to retire.
This professor comes up with answere not on the notes or in the book. Everyone has done terrible on the final and tests. We spend all of class time on discussions and not on the material. I grade this professor an F

DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! She plays favorites if she knows your extended family or are friends of her husband's. Used class time to show off about her grandchildren and how gifted they are. Then told us she would be including her life experiences on the exams. (which she just said to scare us.) Very rude, both in person or email.
I am currently attending this coruse and i am thinking of dropping it. i am useally an A student and i have never failed a test so badly. she is very vauge, and really rude! she carries on with senseless boasting about her family all the time. her test are written like a DMV test, and she gives you a 60 question online test on 200 pages of text!
I thought this class was great and straightforward. All the assignments are clear from the first day. They are turned in online along with the three exams which are right out of the book. You'll learn some great parenting tips along the way as well. Easy A if you do all the work and show up to class.
This professor is not helpful at all. Her syllabus is somewhat confusing. Her response to e-mails aren't helpful at all and will confused you even more. If you take her, you're basically on your own. Exams are base on text book. Lecture are mainly class discussions, which aren't that helpful and is not textbook related. Good luck!
Don't bother wasting your breath asking this prof. for questions or help. She is rude and not much of help.
This teacher is HARD. She doesn't understand all the chapters from the book very well and that's all that the Exams are based off of. Beware! You've been warned!!
Very unclear about assignments, I know I am not the only who got points docked off for format or length so be sure to ask. Exams questions are related to the book so you better read the chapters because her lectures will barely help. Attendance is mandatory, it is graded.
I had this teacher for Human Development and she is useless. All she teaches are stuff from the book. We don't even need her in the class. Wouldn't recommend her to anyone. I asked her for help with a project and she was rude and very unhelpful.
At first I thought I was alone in thinking she is rude. She is very rude. Doesn't even type proper English in her emails. She's too confusing.
I took her online course. She's not clear about her assignments and the exact dates. She doesn't help, but blames her students for not doing something right. The materials were easy, though. She does better in-class.
I am currently taking her online course. (my first ever online course) This is the first week of the semester and already the syllabus is confusing along with with her assignments. I feel so stress out right now on a friday night. Horrible and rude teacher.
I took her online class and shes okay. Wasnt bad or good. Make sure to do the Mcgraw Hill Practice quiz and the real quiz. A lot of discussions online too.
First week of the class... she doesn't respond to emails.. rude! I have experience with online classes but so far she's horrible. i am just hoping i do well in the end...
This teacher is a joke. Emailed her two weeks prior to the start of this semester regarding the textbook and never got a reply. Everything is straight out of the book. Weekly discussions that are done on D2L, but HW and quizzes are done on a different website that requires you to pay for in order to access it. COME ON! What is D2L for then?!?!?!?
find another professor to take this course. this professor is a joke.... grades assignments late. we have to use another website for homework and she assigns us 100+ questions a week not including quiz and discussion
Worst teacher I have ever had. She requires access to an offsite for homework and quizzes. The site is confusing along with her syllabus in trying to figure out what the actual homework assignment is and after inquiring about the issue she was very rude and implied that I was stupid and didnt know what I got into. Hwk is 150+ questions + quizzes
WHY IS SHE STILL A PROFESSOR? RUDE... VERY UNHELPFUL... VERY UNORGANIZED.
The WORST professor I have ever had! I have always had good luck with my online classes but she has changed that for me. I am warning you do not ever take a class she teaches. She hardly ever gets back to you on an email and when she does she is rude, and very vague. Syllabus is inconsistent. She has a complete lack of concern for her students.
OK SEMESTER IS COMING TO AN END.. WORST PROFESSOR.
Do your work receive an A!
She doesn't reply to emails, when she does it takes days for a reply. Instructions are sometimes unclear, a lot of confused students in the class. She makes you do this practice quiz thing weekly, it is sometimes over 150 questions. Then there are actual quizzes. There is also a weekly forum. Nonetheless, if you do your work you will get an A.
Very easy and fun online class. It's also very interesting. She gives us discussion question once a week. She makes the question or topic very interesting in the discussion. And I must say she does reply to emails. It's just only during her office hours. And i have to add she does have a life!
Silva is very difficult to reach outside of office hours and doesn't respond in a timely manner to any emails sent to her. She can be unclear regarding the level of participation she wants. The online homework is very heavy as well as the tests. Do not attempt this class without a textbook. Weekly online discussions mandatory
Class is easy, but time consuming. HW & quizzes are done on the McGraw-Hill Connect website. The HW is over 100 questions per assignment. Weekly discussions are simple, post and comment on one other. Her due dates & times are always messed up so be sure to check them. She isn't helpful & doesn't respond to emails. The final paper is ridiculous.
Online class but prepared on your own as this prof is has a very small office hour window and replies late to emails Homework is lengthy try to work ahead Work comes straight from the book Almost had to drop because of the 95 bucks on an access code required to submit homework on Would've been good to know before I purchased the textbook
She does not reply to emails in a timely manner. Days go by. When I receive a reply it is like its typed by a teenager. And I dont get clarification that I needed. All the homework is on this other Connect website (costs 100) so dont bother buying the book, unless you need it. Shes been very unhelpful. Im glad my class is online.
I enrolled inside this online course expecting to learn lots of interesting conceptual materials relating lifespan development studies, unfortunately I got immediately dropped by instructor without any further due of providing assistance to resolve urgent matters and CRC counseling didn't even bother to help me out either hurting my reputation!
I honestly got enrolled into this Lifespan Development Online Course for first time through enhanced computerized version learning methodology skills, thus transitioning from D2L to eLearning Canvas Instructure System automatically dropped me from this program. Unfortunately, I requested HELP many times from CRC Counseling and Dean WITHOUT SUCCESS.
What I have noticed throughout my experiences at CRC when I was enrolled inside this course during pastimes had to do with amount of overall spent time-consumption efforts, economic expenditures (tuition board fees and school supplies), STRICT ATTENDANCE POLICIES (PARTICIPATION POINTS), INTENSIVE READING CHAPTERS (TEXTBOOK), POWERPOINT SLIDES, ETC.
STRICT ATTENDANCE POLICIES AND PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS; CONFUSING LECTURES; TIMELY BASED STRUCTURED ONLINE DISCUSSIONS; NO VIA E-MAIL ADDRESS REPLIES FOR RECEIVING ACCOMMODATION SERVICES ON IMPORTANT GROUP WORK ASSIGNMENTS/PROJECTS. Make sure you request INTENSIVE TUTORING SERVICES and verifiable CRC counseling support mentors to obtain success.
I wouldn't recommend signing up for this challenging course unless you're willing to put hardworking efforts to stay up longer hours every week typing on the computer and reading plenty of information from your textbook, therefore watch out for attendance and tardiness policies on syllabus contract otherwise stated then turn in homework ON TIME.
PART 1: For the 1st week, we had an intro assignment that wasn't due til the end of the week. I completed it the 1st day PLUS the one response required. We also had to attach two docs onto our post that needed an e-signature. I emailed her multiple times for help on how to attach the docs, but she coldly responded "go back and read the directions"
Respectively, I don't understand what's up with all these negative review ratings although you're expected to show up at mandatory online orientation meeting throughout first week signing off important e-signatures of coursework documents and then briefly introduce yourself on discussion panel list while getting started on your homework assignment.
Horrible student feedback relationship experiences when typing up poorly written via e-mail communications; stumbles upon discussion entry assignments marking off participation points (penalizing students for mistakes); limited availability outside of classroom environment; and final essay exam must be completed for achieving full accredited units.
Essentials of Lifespan Development online course is poorly structured and disorganized (you have to wait much longer for homework assignments to become available on Canvas Instructure and faster due dated deadlines exist); via e-mail communications are much slower in terms of waiting longer for follow up on Canvas; AND DIFFICULT DISCUSSION ENTRIES.
I took FCS 324 as a FAST COURSE online class being a FULL-TIME student & a mom of 2 toddlers. With that being said if I could do it you guys can too. I don't know why she has a low rating when her class is EASY, but you do have to invest time in her class due to the assignments and DBs. I would highly recommend her class! U do have to buy $90 code
I loved Professor Silva's class! If you do the homework you are sure to get an A. She grades everything very fast and provides comments back to you. I was very worried to take this because it was a three credits in 8 weeks but soooo worth it!
Not sure why she has bad reviews this class was an easy A and she was chill. The whole class is through an interactive book, 1 discussion board a week and one final paper, Super easy! I took her course while taking two other classes and working two jobs! I honestly wish more professors were like her.
This class does have a lot of homework but it's online and you can search up the answers if you need to take this class do take her it's an easy pass as long as you do all the work on time. The only hard part was the end of the class the final was a 5 pg paper with four different parts to it and it took long to finish rather have a question test.
This class was very easy as you can find most of the answers online. The only thing that frustrated me the most is that she was no help outside of class. Whenever you would ask her a question she would tell us to refer to the syllabus or her announcement. It was very frustrating as the answer was never there. She made getting help so difficult.
This class is VERY easy. Take it and you'll pass with an A or high B with little to no effort. As long as you do as she says and put effort you will get an easy A. She doesnt grade hard at all and puts positive comments.
Prior to taking her class, I was scared to see that she had a 2/5 rating, but I chose to trust the few 5/5 star ratings and I'm honestly so glad I did. Her class is easy! The weekly discussion posts are super easy. You get unlimited tries on weekly chapter quizzes. However, the class requires for you to pay $100 for McGraw Connect (to do quizzes)
