Prof. Loseke seems passionate and well educated on the subject. Overall a nice guy. Attendance is mandatory and taken on paper that is passed around. During lectures, he puts up a Word doc with large amounts of information. He talks; you write down what he says. If you can't deal with a class that isn't super structured this prof isn't for you.
Professor Loseke has little to no structure in his lectures. He doesn't upload any mandatory resources for the students to access, which makes it very difficult to follow along, study, or know what's going on. The way he gives his lectures is based on how much he knows about history and political science, as if he expects you to already know it all
Take the "lecture heavy" tag seriously on this one. If you aren't good with that teaching style, do not take this class! That's all he does. He knows a lot about the subject, though.
All of your tests are over long quotes he reads in class and displays on the board for 2 seconds. Occasionally he will email you the quotes a few days before a test leaving you very unprepared. Trying to keep up is nearly impossible as he never gives enough time for you to copy down info and doesn't repeat things twice.
Loseke is a great guy who cares about what he's teaching, but has no structure. All he does is lecture about quotes, but the online homework is easy. I would not have passed if his exams didn't come straight from the review questions. He makes the lectures interesting though and gives major curves.
Hes a really caring professor and because hes a grad student himself, he cuts us a lot of slack. He canceled class the day before thanksgiving break so that we could leave early. He rambles a lot, but gives out half the test questions the class before the test and as long as you study his notes and pay attention in class then youll get an A.
Loseke is a great guy and his test are honestly really easy. It's just hard to get through classes sometimes. As long as you do the study guides and read your text book, you should get an easy A.
Very friendly, get to know him. Likes students that care. Sit up front. Become the teacher's pet, you wont regret it. Massive curves, reasonably challenging tests. I broke the curve on every test, it's not hard. No quizzes/projects, just exams. You need the textbook for online hw. Every class is lecture. If that works for you, I 100% recommend him.
Loseke is a great professor... BUT his lectures, are extremely boring, long, and dry. That's rough for an 8am. But outside of class during his office hours, you find out that he actually is a pretty cool guy. He cares about his students and offers a lot of extra credit. Tests are identical to the review, so if you study that you should be fine.
Ezikel is a very boring lecturer, to get that out of the way. It's dry and it's very dull But get to know him a bit more and you see how much he cares and it's just his way of showing it. Attendance isn't mandatory, I stopped coming half way through except for tests and review days. Also, take pics of the reviews cause that's the test questions
Every class is him lecturing and lost my interest every time. The tests are exactly like the review he gives. Attendance is taking randomly throughout the semester but not often. Extra credit opportunities were given a few times.
This class is SO boring and all you will do in class is sit through lecture and take tests. The book is mandatory to do quizzes outside of class. This being said, the material is fairly straightforward and he gives reviews for the tests. Easy to finish with an A but you have to go to class as he randomly takes attendance
HE DOES NOT PUT HIS NOTES/POWERPOINTS ONLINE!! Do what you want with that information, but that was tough for me. If you arent a good note taker, do not take this professor. He is nice and a good teacher, I just have a hard time with notes so this wasnt a good fit for me.
The "Lecture Heavy" tag please take that seriously.
Really understands the material and explains everything very well. Participate in his lectures and you will be sure to understand the material as well.
Prof. Loseke is alright. He is extremely lecture heavy and does not upload notes for students to look over outside of class, but the test questions are accurate to the review questions he barely goes over in class and the study guide he releases before the exams. He can get bitter if your class isn't doing well on exams or reading though.
If you go to class and pay attention you will do fine. He does talk very fast but is willing to answer questions. He gives extra credit if you do the readings early. He also does a study guide for every exam and goes over it in class which is extremely helpful. The exams are the same as the study guides.
He lectures the whole time, and speaks really fast. Reading the textbook is also mandatory because there are assessments and quizzes for each topic. However, if you finish the reading early, he gives extra credit on the test. The test review is exactly what material will be on the test. Pretty easy to get an A as long as you listen.
The only thing he grades are the readings and the exams. He gives extra credit for all exams and its easy. He releases study guides that are exactly like the exam and goes over the review in class. He is passionate about what he teaches so lectures are interesting but he does talk fast. He is a victim of the sassy man epidemic and I'm here for it.
Professor Loseke is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his subject. He lectures long but well and puts his material in terms that are easy to understand. He is very generous with extra credit, at times offering up to 14 points. His office hours are convenient and were extremely helpful and enjoyable to me whenever I needed help. 10/10
He is an amazing professor who truly cares about his students.
Professor Loseke is one of my favorite professors! I hated government/history before this and he changed that for me! His lectures are very informative and his tests are mostly over the lectures. Take notes and tests will be quite easy. Offers extra credit opportunities before tests. He is easy to listen to as he loves the subject he teaches. 10/10
Professor Loseke is strict but easy to interact with after class, makes you read the material before class to form your own opinions about the text and engage during lecture. Get ready for interesting conversations, lots of notes, and good sidetracks in order to explain the point in a more contemporary way. If you get an A is because you deserve it
Loseke himself isn't a very nice guy, but his course itself is extremely easy if you just read the textbook and show up to class. If you have a previous background of AP Gov or even AP US history, there's nothing you really have to worry about. Class can be very boring since its just lecture and not asking the class any questions, but its an easy A
By far the best professor I've ever had - he has a genuine desire to teach + knows subject matter inside & out. I've never been too interested in American government, but his lectures are amazing!! Lots of extra credit opportunities & tests are almost taken entirely from the lectures. He is understanding and really cares about students.
Lectures can be complicated, but the professor is friendly and funny. He gives lots of extra credit opportunities (5-10 extra credit points on each test + drops lowest grade), and the study guide and reviews are exactly like the test. As long as you do the practice reading problems and complete the study guides, you will earn an A in this class!
He can be a bit intense about people not doing the readings sometimes but it's fine. He's clearly knows what he's talking about so if you love politics then you'll probably like him.
Professor Loseke's lectures aren't entertaining. This class was hard for me because it was just long rambling lectures that I couldn't find interest in. Other than Loskeke's teaching style, he's great! He is caring and tries to help students pass. He even personally emailed me to congratulate me on my improvement, reviewing your study guides helps
Professor Loseke is a good teacher. Has good lectures, and the reviews are strait forward. Every test only took me about 30 minutes to study for to get a good grade. Also not homework heavy, with Loseke giving a lot of opportunity for extra credit.
Absolutely amazing professor. Gives insight into both sides of every argument presented in a completely non-partisan way. Also gives highly detailed study guides/review days, and plenty of extra credit opportunities making the class extremely easy to pass. If what was discussed interests you, he is usually available to further discuss after class.
He's alright. He does know a lot about what he teaches but lectures can get boring to those who aren't interested in politics. The exams are identical to the reviews, so as long as you do the reviews and study you'll be fine. He gives a few exam questions during a review and gives lots of extra credit. Will replace your lowest exam with the final.
Posi professor Loseke bumped my 85 up to an A because I got 100+ on my first three exams, while I was literally at a mental hospital, and only did bad (50~) on the last because I was prioritizing family and work
Professor Loseke is definitly one of my favorite. He cares about his students not only in the aspect of doing well in his class but he also cares about you as a person. He is very understaning and very enthusiatic about his job. I highly reccomend taking a class with him!
Professor Loseke is amazing at what he does, not only is he great at teaching and loves doing so he also cares about all his students. Not only does he cafre if they goof in the class but he cares about them in their personal life. I highly recomend taaking one of his classes!
Loseke is the best professor you can have for an intro class, especially if you're not a poli sci major. Clear lectures, study guides, extra credit opportunities sometimes for just doing what you were already supposed to. He's very caring and considerate. The only way to fail this class is if you genuinely do not try at all or just never show up.
Professor Loseke is the most caring professor I've had in a long time. I was failing his class so I went to talk to him, and he was very understanding and compassionate. He helped me pass the class with a high C. His test reviews are also exactly like the test which helps A LOT.
Professor Ezekiel Loseke is an amazing instructor and his lectures on both U.S. politics and Texas politics are fascinating to hear. He cares about the class, but don't talk during his lectures, because you will be called out. Another thing about him is that he gives extra credit for reading passages and getting a good grade on the assessments.
Prof Loseke was very helpful throughout the semester. Not only was I worried that I was going to struggle in thus course but I was dealing with an ongoing illness yet he still set me up fot success. He was truly a caring person. I wish the semester could've lasted longer!
Very passionate professor! The lectures can be boring at times but the tests are exactly like the study guide and he always gives out 10 extra points for doing the homework! TIP, the review questions that he does at the start of the lectures are on the test so always jot them down.
Good guy but can take things too personally and get frustrated with the class. HEAVY on he will make you read, the books are interesting and his lectures make it way easier to understand but stay on top of it and talk in class. We only had three assignments all of them in-class essays, he grades fairly and focuses on the content over format.
If you are taking his basic political ideas class, do NOT pat attention to the other reviews. This are for his entry classes, this is an upper- level course and he treats it that way. There are 4 grades in this class, the midterm, final, reading comprehension exam, and participation. Reading is EVERYTHING in this course, you HAVE to read. 1/2
Every class he will come in and ask question on the assigned reading, if the class can't answer them, the following class there will be a verbal reading quiz which count towards participation. This class and reading material can be tough but if you go you should fine. He expects hard work and dedication, but is very understanding when need be 2/2
Very straightforward man. He wants you to learn and seems very interested in students getting into political science. The course can be challenging but he gives out review sheets that are pretty much the exam. He gives extra credit opportunities if you put effort into it.
This teacher makes his reviews EXACTLY like the test, all you have to do is do the review and you will ace the test. The homework assignments are easy an based on a completion grade. not only that but he shows he cares about his students. he personally emailed me to congratulated me on getting a higher grade on my second test.
Loseke was great. His study guides are exactly the same as the material on his tests. He enjoys what he teaches but speaks quickly- take notes on what he says and focus on slides later. Gave PLENTY of opportunity to make up to 10 points total of extra credit for the exams. Just make sure you stay on top of the McGraw Hill and you'll be golden.
Professor Loseke was a good prof, he was strict when it comes to his lectures- as he will not post the slides, and you're responsible for taking pics of them, but it is all worth it in a way. Due to the study guides being identical to the exams, just keep up with the readings & his slides and you'll be fine! But prepare for long long lectures!
Professor Loseke was a good professor and as along as you pay attention and take notes, and show up, you will be fine. His lectures were boring sometimes but you do have to pay attention to them because his exams are based on lectures. He did give reviews for every exam and they were practically identical. I would take again
The reading and lectures are very useful in this course, and he will provide all the learning material needed for the course!
I've never seen a professor care so little.his lectures were a mixed bag, either they were boring and overdrawn or short and monotone because he doesn't care. never shared slides and acted annoyed anytime questions about the subject were brought up. his attendence was taken on two pieces of paper for a class of 250 to share. overall do not take.
His classes are really easy if you show up to the lectures.
I personally LOVED him. He's a pretty awesome professor, its mostly just doing your mcgraw hill BEFORE class and you're honestly set. His tests are pretty easy if you go to the review day or just do the review. Rene his TA is amazing also. He's not a monotone lecturer but its pretty much 75% lectures and some videos here and there. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Lectures were never boring; the way he talks you can definitely tell he's very passionate about this subject. Be aware though, there is quite a lot of McGraw Hill textbook homework and he does not post the slides on Canvas. As long as you show up, take good notes, and do the homework you will pass. Also gives extra credit. Overall great professor!
This class may be kind of boring at times, but the professor offers tons of (easy) extra credit. As long as you show up and do the readings, this class should be extremely easy.
Gives plenty of lectures and opportunities for you to learn what will be on the test. Gives a detailed study guide before the test, provided enough people do the homework, and as long as you study it, you will get a good grade.
Great professor. He makes sure the content is not bias and goes over important topics more than once. He offers tons of extra credit and gives plenty of time for the homework. Attendance isn't really mandatory but it's good to go to at least the review days.
All in All, he was great, but his online assignments will take hours maybe days to complete, just for none of the questions to show up on an exam
This is by far the best proffesor I have took his syllabus explains everything cleary and he is very organized and caring If you are looking to take POSI 2310 this is the perfect class for you!
3300 (Not 1310) will be a very difficult course, but extremely rewarding. Loseke is a fantastic teacher and provokes good and real thought that is not possible elsewhere in this school. You will need to read what is assigned, or you will fail, but the reading is very interesting if you engage with it. I wouldn't take this course with anyone else!
I was nervous to take Professor Loseke at first due to a tough RMP rating. Professor Loseke is awesome and does whatever he can to help support you understanding the material. If you are working hard to help yourself, he will meet you and help support you in learning. GREAT PROFESSOR would 100% take again.
Professor Loseke can be described by many things. He is kind, intelligent, hilarious, and most importantly, he is one of the few professors in this university who genuinely loves what he is teaching as well as the students he teaches. This class convinced me to become a student of Political Philosophy, and it taught me to find the Good.
course is very simple with easy grades; most of your grade is made up by exams which he gives you the answers for, along with a potential 20+ points you can get for each exam. easy A reading grades and the class itself can be boring but he's funny and lets you out early most of the time. Starts every class with exam review answers, great teacher!
This professor was great. I 100% recommend taking him. The homework was easy as long as you watched the lectures. He gives extra credit and is very understanding.
This class is not that hard at all. He gives study guides and a review day before an exam. The study guides are the same as the exam. The lectures are pretty interesting as well. I recommend to take this class.
Professor Loseke is one of the most knowledgeable and informed professors on campus. He asks a lot of questions to the students, so attendance is mandatory for a reason. He wants to make sure you truly grasp the material and that you don't forget it. Plato's Republic was also a very fascinating read. I highly recommend him, but the course is hard.
He gives so many extra credit opportunities it seems impossible not to get an A. His study guides are exactly what's on the exams. He's a really cool guy and does his best to make a dry subject more interesting. I tell everyone to take him.
Probably one of the easiest classes ive taken. Every exam you have is word for word the study guides he hands out, and he goes over all the answers on study guides in class.
Genuinely one of the easiest classes I have taken. The tests are word-for-word the test review. He has a review day before the exam goes through the study guide and gives you the answer. Offers 10+ extra credit on EVERY test (McGraw Hill which I hate, but it's easy). Attendance is counted, syllabus says you can't miss more than 10 classes.
Absolutely LOVED him. If you do the reading before the test and score an 80 or above on the assessment quiz you get an extra 10 points on the exam!!! Attendance is mandatory and I REALLY recommend going to the review days as he will go over the whole review and the review is practically the exam. He truly makes it so easy to pass his class.
Professor Loseke is AWESOME. He gives SO much extra credit, up to 10 points EC for every exam. If you do your assignments and go to class, you'll do fantastic. The class before the test he goes over the study guide and the study guide is almost word for word the test. He is kind, and his lectures are very interesting. I would 100% take him again!
Professor Loseke is one of the best!! At the beginning of the semester, he will tell you about pop quizzes, but if you do the readings and can answer his questions about them in class, he won't give them. Very heavy reading and participation-based course. Only a few assignments but they are provided far in advance so you have time to study.
very easy online course,do readings early and get extra credit, not too many assignments just the reading quizzes a 3 tests and an optional final overall pretty easy class and the professor is understanding and helpful
I was honestly nervous to take this class but it was actually pretty chill. His lectures are boring but during them I took time to complete the assigned mcgraw hill assignments (5-7 due each month). You just have 4 exams and the mcgraw hill assignments. He also gives you study guides (answers included) with the exact same questions for the test!
very good professor you just have to do is focus on lecture and study material which is given to you
Lots of extra credit so the class isn't hard. Assignments are on mcgraw hill and are pretty easy as well.
He grades really well, and is very lenient. No lectures you need to login to, only recorded ones, and attendance doesn't matter.
Super cool guy. Tons of extra credit available. Make sure you take pictures of the review questions at the beginning of class and get those answers, they are like always on the test. He also gives a great study guide before every test.
These positive reviews are on one. Dude posts 0 slides (makes you take pictures of everything, why?) Attendance is taken by writing your name on a piece of paper that 200 people pass around. He bases how much review he does based on how much of THE TOTAL CLASS that did the reading. So, you get punished for no reason if randoms don't do the reading.
Prof. Loseke was great to have! He provided many resources to have you prepared for exams, and just wanted the best for his students. Attend lectures and actually engage, he makes them interesting! He's very understanding and made it very clear the way the class would work.
He is a super sweet guy, and his tests always reflect his lectures and are super easy. Do come to lectures though because he doesn't post the notes. Hope your class does the extra credit though or you won't get the full review. He always makes the test sound harder than they actually are, a lot of questions, but they're simple. He is super nice!
Literally a king. I got an A on every test but missed a quiz so I had a B in the class. He literally out of the blue emailed me and said he dropped my quiz grade because I did well on the tests, which bumped me to an A in the class!
He's amazing, genuinely. If you are a good writer, you will be completely fine. The course load can seem intimidating at first, but there are only three assignments for the whole year. He grades very easily too.
He's a very good professor, the homeworks and exams are very easy. I took this class online and most of the stuff was through Mcgraw Hill, as long as you do those you'll be fine. He will give you a review day before the exam, which helps a lot for the actual exam. Would take again.
His class was very easy if you attend lectures. Lots of extra credit was given. Exams and quizzes were very easy and the study guide and exam were basically identical. The homework was easy too.
Do the readings and ask questions and he will love you. If he loves you, he will help you get the grade you want. The only "do not" I have is that you can tell asking a question he has already answered is a pet peeve, so just pay attention.
Dr. Loseke is just okay. He's lowkey a crashout but you can tell he's passionate about his profession. Nobody likes the textbook, including him. DO the McGraw Hill work, or else you wont get a full review - which the tests are entirely based on. Some love him, some hate him. I just don't think his style was for me. Funny dude sometimes, though.
Excellent professor overall, greatly passionate in a course that is mandatory for all freshmen, and as such comes with a far above expected level of care and work put into lectures. If you care about learning beyond the textbook and gaining a deeper understanding of anything, you should absolutely take his course.
I loved taking his class! He helps all of his students succeed every chance he gets. As long as you attend the lectures and do the readings, you'll be good, he does a great job at explaining things. He's patinate about what he teaches and makes lectures engaging while staying politically neutral making the class enjoyable for everyone.
Overall, his class was not bad. It's very straightforward and easy to earn a good grade. He's just very irritable and inconsistent with lectures. I earned over 100% on every exam, but each time I came into lecture after, he'd scold everyone for how poorly we tested and get so heated. He wouldn't come on test days and canceled class fairly often.
Great professor to take, will give you extra credit left and right so take advantage of it. USE THE REVIEWS! they are identical to the tests. you will have 5 tests including the final, so if you do well on the first 4, you can skip the final as the lowest test grade will be dropped. 10/10 Professor would take him again for more classes.
Amazing professor who cares a lot about his students. Definitely need to put in lots of effort and studying as well as reading of the book, but if you do this you will breeze through the essay exams. He cares a lot about what he teaches which is an important virtue in a professor and wants you to succeed. If you're taking 3300, I highly suggest!
He gives study guides for each test that is almost an exact copy of the test. Tests are 80% of the overall grade though. There is a lot of textbook assignments but you have the whole unit to do them. He does not post his lecture slides so you need to write down what he says.
Class was fully online, but I enjoyed it. Class is very exam-heavy, with exams making up 80% of your grade; however, if you study and watch the online lectures he posts, you will be fine. He was also very understanding when it came to extenuating circumstances preventing students from taking the online exams. I recommend this professor.
Definitely recommend professor Loseke. He gives SO many opportunities for extra credit that if you don't pass; it's bc you didn't try. STUDY GUIDES ARE IDENTICAL TO TESTS. To get full review study guide, do the McGraw Hill assignments and encourage your classmates to do the same because it's based on if majority does it. 10/10 professor!
Reviews were almost exact copies of the exams. He offers a lot of extra credit. He can be a bit intimidating but if you put in the work to succeed, he will help you. Rounds grades at the end of the year. Lectures were always interesting as well. Amazing professor!
I absolutely loved this class. It was an easy A. The exams are 80% of your grade but he drops the lowest and he give a lot of extra credit. His exams are solely based on the study guide and class reviews (which is done at the start of each class). If 50% of the class does the reading assignment, he gives the answers to the study guide.
