Class has interesting discussion, prof is really easy going and fun. 6 quizzes and 1 midterm, 1 final. extra credits available. Exams and quizzes are totally based on lecture notes, just spend 1 hour reading note before test then you should get easy A. Very Nice and helpful prof. I strongly recommand.
he isnt a good professor. all his test dont make sense to me at all. had to drop. hes bad.. but chiu is much better.
I'm currently taking this professor. I chose him because I didn't really have another choice -- BIG mistake. Exams are not that easy and requires you to read A LOT. I stuck with this professor because I didn't want to take this next semester. DON'T TAKE HIM .. TAKE KRAVETZ!
Anyone whos says this class is hard is a moron! He lays it out for you on a silver platter. Easy quizzes and the midterm and final are exact replicas of the quizzes. If you get anything less than a B, you just didn't try. Not his fault you are mentally inept!
I CAN LIVE WITH THAT!!!..FAIR ENOUGH..( HE SAYS IT ALL THE TIME).. I LOVE THIS MAN.. HE IS EXTREMELY EASYYYY...REPLICAS OF QUIZZES.. DONT NEED TO BUY BOOK..HE EXPLAINS EVERYTHIN IN HUMAN TERMINOLOGY..HE IS THE BEST... I THINK ONE OF THE NICEST GUY IF NOT THE ONLY ONE IN THE FIN DEPT..
Nicest guy ever. Teaches everything straight from the notes, always there for students when they need help. Wants his students to succeed. Quizzes are from his lectures, the exams are from his quizzes. Go to class, don't buy the book, take good notes, get an A =]
I love this professor, he is easy going and very nice. Class is easy, 6 quizzes, mid term and final, everything is based on the lecture. Just spend couple of hours ahead of exam study the notes, you will do fine.
He is a great teacher, super easy. He is fun and easy to understand. If you take notes and study just your notes, there is an easy A. I would highly recommend him to my best friends.
He is one of the best. I highly recommend. He is very fair, test comes from his lectures. No surprise.
I dont know why everyone says hes easy. His midterm and final was rediculously hard. 25 True/false and 25 multiple choice. How are you going to give a choice E!!! I thought I was getting an A for the class but ended up with a B He needs to get over himself and retire..
Easy Fin class: take good notes and you'll do fine. 5 quizzes -all from the notes, exams are from quizzes, so only retards and lazy folks get bad grades in this class. Very helpful, enthusiastic and encouraging professor. Learn lots of useful tips for finance and many important consepts. Great time and great class!!! Highly recommended!
Good professor to take if you don't have a high interest in this subject. Never boring. The quizzes are from the notes and the midterm and final are from the quizzes. Take notes, learn from your notes and you should do well!
Very good prof. Highly recommend. As long as you take his notes, you will be fine with all quizzes. Both midterm and final are based on quizzes(exactly same question just different numbers). What's more, he is very nice and friendly.
Many quizzes! Both midterm and final are based on quizzes. He required a presentation about a stock market game that we did in class, but didn't explain his expectations or the requirements or format for the presentation and he was VERY TOUGH grading it. You learn the material, but he's not an easy grader.
This man is horrible at least half the class bombed on the midterm and the final shh forget about it. He has similar questions from the quizes but they are REDICUOUSLY hard to solve on the midterm and final.. Im sure half the class failed on teh midterm.. Also dept policy that that majority get C.
He is a really fun professor all the quizes are form the class and the mid term and final are from the quizez. I really recomended him your will learn in his class. But he is a HARD grader you need the book.
What can I say about this prof.? At first it seems like he's not that bad, the subject becomes interesting, and then what happens?? Then he loses the midterm, makes us take another one making it look as if he's doing us a favor while in reality he makes the exam 10 times harder than the first one!!! Judge for yourselves.
I HAD HIM LAST SEMESTER. HE IS RUDE TO STUDENTS. HIS CLASS LECTURES MADE HIS CLASS LOOK EASY BUT HE SCREW YOU OVER ON THE QUIZZES MIDTERM AND FINAL. SOME OF HIS TEST QUESTIONS ARE NOT FROM NOTES OR TEXTBOOK. I STUDIED BOTH. HE PRETTY MUCH PULLED IT OUT OF HIS ASS. HE TOOK OFF A LOT OF POINTS FOR EACH TEST QUESTION EVEN IF THERE ARE MULTIPLE PARTS.
quizzes & exams = lectures. he takes off a lot of points on quizzes & exams. he doesn't know how to teach. he cannot spell for his life. there's a group presentation, which he doesn't even pay attention to. he was always playing with his blackberry when students were presenting. all he cares about are the paychecks, not the students.
LAID BACK.He's an investment banker.Lots of real life stuff to tell u. I took his summer session.Quite intense but fun.Midterm n final are from quizzes plus 2 trickier questions. But as long as u understand, wont be any problem. An easy presentation. He skipped lot of hard stuff in textbook. But sometimes got too fast cuz he wanted to finish.Overall OK
Hard grader - impolite - otherwise okay. Happy class is behind.
very knowlegable about the subject. easy quizes and exams. I never thought finance can be this easy. Highly recommended.
Thank you Professor, you are the best. Still in class, I am really pleased to be in his class. Professional and interesting style of teaching. 5+
Not a fan of this guy. Grades very hard and can be obnoxious at times.
Very hard!
He is not easy, if you don't like finance. If you are a finance major, he is great help. He does make you remember formulas, which makes future finance classes easier because you will be using these formulas for the rest of your career at Baruch. I recommend him if you want to be serious about finance.
4 Long quizzes + midterm + cumulative final+group project.Group project is not hard,it's just annoying. Quizzes can be tricky, cuz there r so many quizzes you dont really have to"study hard"for the final.Iluv the way he teached the class- Crystal clear.DO NOT BE ABSENT.His quizzes are from his lectures,& the final and mid. are from his quizzes
This guy is little "confused" and besides his memorized lectures there is nothing that he understands and can explain. Ask him a question and for sure his answer will confuse you. Other than that it is an easy A as his quizzes are simply formulas and the quizzes compile the midterm and the final. If you are not a FIN major take him.
This guy is unprofessional. Other than that material he teaches is nothing intense. I will leave it at that...
am a senior but i can tell with certainty that he is my worst professor so far, and i can bet you that you will regret taking him.
One of the easiest prof's at baruch. His quizzes are straight from class notes. He only changes the numbers a bit. Tests are from quizzes. I missed a lot of classes. Still got an A. He doesn't mind as long as you show him you're smart. Easy A, take him
awesome professor! absolutely recommend him
easy professor ! take him if you want an A. just keep going with the flow and keep reading the book. Good Luck with an A+
I dont know why people are saying he makes it a easy class. His quick run through lectures alone will not help students even get a decent grade. The quizzes and his test are more in detail than the book!
The tests are much complicated than his lecture which can be somewhat misleading, giving you a sense of false security. There always something that he never covered in lecture, appeared in quizzes and exams. Its definitely not an easy class
He is a great professor!Exams are exactly like quizes (in fact, you might get the exact same q's) and there are no surpises. He actually explains the concepts in the easiest way possible. Take all the notes and try to understand it (don't memorize). His class is actually very helpful in Fin3610.
Avoid this professor, he is so hard. He cannot explain his stuff clearly and the tests are hard. 1 Midterm and 1 fina.
makes the class seem easy until you get the quizzes and midterm which are completely tricky. avoid!
I liked his class, not completely easy, but it's only 3 credit class - you can do it! Take notes from lectures - it is 90% of the quiz material and midterm.Few formulas to be memorized. He is very respectful to students. Grades fairly, unless department will force him to grade on the average of C+
TAKE THIS GUY. Not the best if you're a Finance major, though - you will not learn much at all compoared to other profs.
Attendance is not mandatory but his tests come mainly from the notes. Missing one day of class can hurt you if you don't get the notes and understand the formulas. Midterm, final, presentation and a few quizzes. Minimal online homework which helps in learning how to use the formulas. Would not recommend if finance major though.
Tough grader, he takes 70% off for a small mistake. If you are a finance major, don`t take him.Tricky questions on exams.DON`T RECOMMEND
It is possible to get an A, but you have to work REALLY hard: read the book+ memorizing tons of formulas+understanding the concept. Tricky questions on exams, pay attention to the wording. Be present in the class, some of the exam questions comes from the class' notes. quizzes+ midterm+ presentation+ home work+ cumulative final.HARD GRADER!
Very good professor.3 quizzes, 1 presentation and a final. very easy grader. RECOMMENDED.
He is not an easy grader. He chops off lots of points for minor mistakes. Easy A?! Not an easy B!
Hard to get an A. 4 quizes, 1midterm and final comes from quizzes. Bad thing is that even if you do every problem correct but mess up with one question, forget about an A. Goes over the material very fast. I didn't like his grading policy. Department gives a curve of 2 points. Overall I would recommend him if you are happy with B, and he is much better than other professors for finance. Need to work hard though....
He's so hard! At the beginning tries to make students to think of him as "one of us", "our boy"... just wait for the first quiz, you'll hate him right away.Tests are NOT multiple choice. Little calculation mistake- he'll take a lot of point away.
I worked hard for my A-. Def. not an easy A by any means. Attendance is not mandatory but the tests are based on his notes so you MUST attend class. Tests are hard and not multiple choice. Takes off pts for minor mistakes in an arbitrary fashion. Tedious group project. Only recommend him if you are willing to be diligent and study your notes.
Had mixed feelings about this guy. His style of teaching is quick, fast & in a hurry. Doesn't review or answer many questions. Tests are hard. Doesn't take attendance, but tests are based on class notes. Although I say that, I found my notes rarely prepared me enough for the tests. Class covers basic concepts, tests are very tricky. Good Luck!
People who gave a low rating must want him to spoon feed them. He is an outstanding lecturer who goes over the board rather than reading off a slide. Answers to emails everyday. Quizzes, Midterm are relatively easier. Final is departmental and hard. But he reviews it before final. Make connections and get a test bank. You will ace it.
It's just too hard. If you want to get an A you need to be a finance expert already. The test are hard and he doesn't give you enough time to finish everything he asks for. JUST AVOID..!!!
He seems really easy initially but the quizzes are hard and he even adds some questions on concepts he never bothered to teach! the online homeworks are ridiculously long and tedious. He left for two weeks in the middle of the semester for a vacation and decided it was okay to rush through the entire course. My first B in three semesters.
Professor Shechter clearly is passionate and well informed in Finance. Lectures are valuable and you'll need them for examsquizzes. He's a really good guy and you do have to work a little for your A but it's very attainable. Definitely worth taking his class.
Avoid. Unclear notes and rarely gets to class on time. 1 midterm and 3 quizes. No partial credit whatsoever. Take a professor that follows the textbook and department guidelines.
Just a solid professor for this section of this class. He knows what he speaks about, and even though he strayed from the textbook, the departmental final was still very doable based on what he taught. He's very straight forward, and is abundantly clear about his quizzes (3 of them) and his midterm (just one). Great choice.
Avoid at all cost. He doesn't teach anything in class. All he talks about the firm he own; how he go sued; his life..... Exams are extremely hard and since this is your very first finance class do yourself a favor by not taking him.
Shechter is a good professor. Pay attention in class, and take notes, and the quizzes and tests are the same questions as those given as practice or in class, just with different numbers. If you can follow exactly what his examples are, you will do well. This isn't a hard class. Just understand how to replicate some questions and youll def be fine.
Nice professor. No need to buy a book because he gives exactly what's going to be on the exam. Took this class in summer semester and it was a lot of work, other than that his lectures are interesting. Cancelled class once and let us go home earlier couple of times even though semester lasted only 5 weeks. Focuses on numbers not theory.
Take someone else if you really want to learn Finance well. He jumps from thing to thing and taught us incorrect formulas compared to how you can learn it online or in other FIN sections. Copy his examples and know how to replicate because he cuts up any partial credit you can get for his short answer quizzes/exams. Funny guy though.
I agree with the comment below mine. Also, his test questions are basically just his class problems, usually. Just understand everything he says. Very funny and very nice though. Not looking to hurt anyone. Is bias in class, but that doesn't reflect how he grades exams or anything.
I took him during summer session, he is fun and easy if you understand his lectures. We didnt have to purchase book, because all exams and final would be from examples you do in class, exact questions with different name and numbers. But he doesnt curve at all, i was only 1 point away to get an A- but he gave me B+. still i think it was easy class.
He is an entertaining guy but tends to get off topic. He doesn't go by any textbook but by what he thinks you'll actually use in the real world. 3 Quizzes, Midterm, Final and Group Presentation/project.
Great finance professor among the rest, study old exams, take notes of the in-class problems and self-study them, you will do very well if you do your part, this class isn't meant to be a breeze. Takes a lot of points of on exams though, overall funny guy and wants you to do well.
He takes off a lot of points on minor mistakes on tests. other than that he is a good professor.
Good choice for your first finance class at Baruch, he is very clear when teaching the materials. Only problem is that he doesn't cover all the material he should for Intro to finance, so if your looking for a full long experience he is not the professor for you.
Awesome professor. Do not use a textbook, writes on the board everything you need to know. Tests include the same exercises from the board with different numbers and from the study guides. Pay attention in class and write everything from the board to study and you'll pass easily.
Tons of homework and quizzes, but he's a great guy and you really learn all the basics. Tough project at the end of the year, but overall a good class even if he speaks kind of fast sometimes.
Piece of cake. take his class
I really liked professor schechters personality and just him as a person but unfortunately hes a pretty bad professor. Lectures are mostly filled with his stories of his personal experiences. When the department final came, he literally didnt cover half the material and admitted it. The curve was big but I feel I dont know much about finance
It's a good class but be sure to THOROUGHLY study your notes for tests with this class. He's easy to follow in class but don't walk into a test thinking that just cause you understood what was happening in class you've got the test in the bag. He's pretty chill though, and I would take his class again.
Amazing professor, even though I thought Id fail this clsss because math is the hardest subject for me, professor Ezri made finance look extremely easy. I actually got 100 on my midterm and I was super happy. He is fun, nice, I loved his lectures and everything was super clear. Attendance isnt mandatory, 4 qizzes and a final + presentation video.
DON'T study the textbook, DON'T study the connect homework, DON'T study the Departmental reviews but HIS NOTES AND HIS EXAMPLES FROM THE CLASS. Everything: his quizzes, his exams, presentation based on his notes and the problems he gives out in the class. If you follow these the class is a breeze.
Man is a legend. He has a heart of gold and will help you as much as a professor really can. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you miss a class, you'll lose your A. Definitely take if you can and study the departmental finals for the final.
This was his last year teaching the honors class. Overall, Ezri is a good professor who teaches you material outside of what the department requires him to. That being said, I'm a bit worried about going into the higher level FIN courses because I am not sure if what I was taught was sufficient for other courses in Baruch. He's an interesting prof
His lecture is very difficult to understand. HWs are all scrambled it up from chapter to chapter. Most of the stuff on final weren't covered in the class. Take someone else if you did not experience finance before.
Ezri is a Great Professor over all, He has his own Stock Brokerage and was a Wall Street Stockbroker back in his day. He teaches you the concepts that you will use in the real world for stock/investment analysis. Grading was not bad 3 Quizzes 1 midterm 1 Group Project 4 online connect HW and Final
Do not take this professor. He is ALL OVER THE PLACE. Every single "quiz" we had there was some sort of mistake either with the questions or answers. Completely disorganized and taught in a way that expected you to already know finance. Also the 3 "quizzes" he gives are really just tests. There's also a midterm, final, and an extensive group proj
The trickiest prof I've had so far in Baruch. His tests were not that hard but the way they set up makes it easy to lose a lot points if you make a single mistake. And given that he doesn't curve will lead to a poor grade. I had a 89.9% average and he gave me a B+. Very unfair. You need to ace all the tests in order to succeed. Many ended up with C
great prof!!! highly recommended! really cares about students and is flexible if you need him after class hours. tests and quizzes were straight from the notes.
really really great guy! test and quizzes were notes. group project is very clear and straight forward. 4 homeworks were easy online. take him!
Horrible Professor, not clear on grading and gives quizzes and tests where questions dont even have correct answers. Shows lack of care for students and then says he tried his best.
This is the worst professor I have ever met. Classes never follow the books. However, he also requires that you must buy a book, because you need code to complete your homework.
This professor was horrible. He is so lazy and did the bare minimum to help you if you needed it. My advice if you have to take him, get a GOOD TUTOR. Don't expect him to be clear about everything. There is a group project.
Ezri is amazing! He is accessible outside of the classroom and is the most understanding, accommodating, and lenient professor. Even though it is not mandatory to show up to his lectures, the lectures are fun, enjoyable, and have full attendance. He tells stories that are interesting & relevant to help you understand and remember the material.
Amazing professor that teaches everything that you will need so you don't even need to read the textbook. There are no surprises on the tests or quizzes. There are 4 homeworks in total, all due at the end of the semester so there is no need to purchase the textbook. You can just activate your Connect free trial at the end of the semester and save $
Unorganized professor. The quiz or exam also requires you to explain a lot of things.
Unclear notes and rarely gets to class on time. Tests are hard and not multiple choice.
Awful professor!
I can barley keep up with him, he goes so fast in lecture!! He does record them and upload to blackboard so I rewatch the lecture after again. If you have some knowledge in the topics of fin3000 you should be good. But if you have zero knowledge with finance then idk if he is your best bet- he's just too fast. he's nice though
He is the worst professor, don't take this class. He is very lazy and has no effort to teach. He ignore the students questtions all the time
Awful professor, lazy and unclear. His quizzes and test don't have the correct answers. Doesn't give extra credit and doesn't curve the grade.
Skip the class or get a tutor. He is terrible, has not effort to teach, super lazy and seems he doesn t care about class cause he is late all the time. His dumb stories about his wife and life stories are not interesting at all. Remember you are paying for tuition to learn Finance not Professor Ezri perosnal life.
Wow he's very disogranized. His quizzes are really tough exams and what he teaches in class doesn't match his exams/quizzes. He's always worried students cheating rather than trying to teach. Have to buy the book for connect, but he doesn't go by the department guidelines. He skips chapters alot, and half the class dropped after the midterm.
This professor is great! He does go pretty fast but if you ask him a question he'll stop and take the time to explain the concept to you. His exam questions come directly from the lectures, not the hw. I think the people giving him bad review's are the ones who didn't attend class because attendance isn' mandator and ended up doing poorly cuz of it
Always late, very unprofessional, and will destroy your GPA. There are other professors with much easier workload and better grading criteria. He requires you to submit pictures of your work within 10 minutes after submission for his multiple-choice tests. Tests are WAYY harder than what he discusses in class. Absolutely NO CHANCE for extra credit
Quizzes are tough and is always late. On the day of the final he woke up late and posted up the exam so late our section started way past the scheduled time. He skips chapters and teaches the basics - when you take the final you'll be so lost because he never prepared you. Wants all students to email pictures of their work after quizzes are over.
Want to get an A? ATTEND CLASS AND TAKE NOTES. Literally all his exams/quizzes are from problems we covered in class. He is always 5-10 minutes late, and his email responses to questions are very vague. HOWEVER he really makes up to it in his lectures. I like them because he doesn't read slides but rather actually writes on a whiteboard
Quizzes are easy as he composes them so everything covered in his lectures will appear on quizzes and midterm. He doesnt use the textbook and teaches simple and easy formulas which doesnt prepare you for the actual final. Also said the final would be multiple choice which it wasnt. Other than that, hw and project graded lightly.
DON'T TAKE HIM!!! He does not know how to teach. You can tell the reason why he teaches this course is just for money. He never shows up on time. Never! Always late for 10 to 15 mins. He does not care about student. Once he finishes teaching, he is done. Make a little effort to make students understand things. Just don't take him. Period.
professor shechter is amazing at giving lectures. he is always on Time and enthusiastic. he is also hilarious and he always responds to emails. I would 100% take class again!
Ezri is a phenomenal professor. I am surprised he is not teaching at Harvard Business School; Baruch should be honored to have him. Even for. a 7:30 pm class, Ezri brings enough energy for everyone to jump out of their chair. Lectures are filled with thought-provoking concepts and hilarious stories from his personal life. 10/10, highly recommend.
He should be much higher rated. Classes are chilled out, doesn't take attendance, quizzes are online! He takes questions whenever you ask, lets class out early on days that the lessons are difficult. You really can't get much better than him
A really nice guy and overall good human being. I am happy I decided to take his class. Low stress, learn alot. He is a real estate developer in addition to a professor so he talks from real world experience. Would highly recommend
This is not a class to take if you're a slacker. Ezri is a real estate developer and every lecture is packed with information. Its an intense class that you'll learn alot in - not an easy A by any means. If you're looking to cruise through, this is not the class for you. If you're passionate about real estate, this class is an excellent choice.
The professor doesn't take attendance, but Do you really want to miss class? Lectures and quizzes are easy He is Respectful and fun HOWEVER, He makes many Mistakes, such as sending the balance sheet during the middle of the exam He doesn't prepare you for finals(30%). He likes to show up late and change classes online as he wish tough grader
He's a really fun and engaging professor, I've never fully understood these concepts until now.
The whole class is very disorganized. No study guide or PowerPoint was uploaded. He does not use PowerPoint or anything so it's really hard to study on your own. He's often late, changes the class to online often. He does not teach well and expects you to know all the work after just going over once or so.
He is by far one of my favorite professors. Attendance is not mandatory but if you miss a class you'll get lost. A couple of quizes, midterm and final. Plus SAM and connect homeworks. He is really fun and just gives you motivation also will gladly help you if you're stuck. Would def take him again.
Professor Ezri is a fun and engaging lecturer. The quizzes are straightforward, and he's generally helpful. However, the course doesn't fully prepare you for the tough final. Unstuck AI was a lifesaver for exam prep.
he is the best guy ever he loves his kids max, spencer and jonah and loves his caring wife tzippy schechter. i really enjoyed hid class i thought it was inspirational and very benificial to me. getting a professor like ezri really changed my life for the better he instlled so many lessons and values i can take with me for the rest of my life.
He loves his kids max Jonah and Spence
