expects alot, but really teaches - very clear -he'll make u a better writer
acts a little crazy but a very good teacher...knows what he's talking about but wants to hear your opinion too
This guy must be schizophrenic; in class he is an amazing and flamboyant teacher, but if you catch him outside of it you'll find him spiritless. It's kind of scary.

great teacher
he is a good teacher. he tells you exactly what he wants and it better be his way. the class is a little boring at times but it is a good class to take.
He has indeed allowed me to look at the world in a new light! Everyone should take a class with him atleast once and express youself.

great professor very clear and is interested in what the student thinks. Probably the best Professor i ever had. Strongly Recommend. He is one of those professors that can make a boring subject very interesting
Watch OUT!!! We had 2 grades the entire semester, A midterm, and a final. I got a 94 on the midterm, a 96 on the final, and B- for my final grade. (He said my PARTICIPATION wasnt there.) He had no idea what my name was either by the end of the semester.
Weird, unfair in certain instances with his grading, like will severely deduct from you if he thinks you did not participate enough, which is not supposed to be the main grading factor.
I have never had a theology class as exciting as this. It actually keeps me awake and is interesting. He is very good with grading also and is very fair, esp. when it comes to dropping the lowest quiz grade :)
Godfrey is the man, man. His theology class is fun, interseting, and insightful. He deserves a great rating because of his extensive education and a good people skills.
Father Kevin is awesome. He is one of the most interesting people I have ever met and he has so much passion for theology, let alone his extensive knowledge. However, I am slightly concerned about my participation grade... Rule of thumb, don't be shy!
Fr. Kevin is the best! He's incredibly imaginative, has a great sense of humor, and he is eccentric, which makes him very cool! This guy makes learning really fun by using unique teaching methods. He values creativity in your reports.
a great & interesting instructor.
no confidentiality of grades, papers left to students to find their own and grades are open for all to see. Participation also reflected in written assignments in addition to being 10% of your grade...UNFAIR
Father Kevin is a wonderful teacher. Having a class at 8:00 makes it hard to stay awake but he keeps you pumped up with his enthusiasm.
great teacher...really loves theology. gets the class involved a lot. pay attention in class and participate, and you'll do great in the class. he compromises with the class, thanks for lettin us out early and taking off the lowest quiz grade! :)
Fr. Godfrey is an awesome professor. He makes learning theology fun, by the way he teaches. He is loud and entertaining and keeps my attention for every second.
weird, loud bands on the desk all the time and tells us to "spit or sneeze" on important passages in my book. it's just odd. Not my style.
Father Kevin is very interesting. He keeps my attention the entire time, and makes most of us laugh. It isnt that often that you find a professor that is as laid back and fun to be around as him!
father kevin is a great human being and gives students the opportunity to express our thoughts and opinions.
Father Kevin is a great, interesting, and fun instructor. I am glad I took the class with him. Knows his material and loves to teach it to students. Very fair with quizes and papers. Will take another class with him! :)
Demanded that everone should pray on the first day of class, wants people to write a essay on there opipion about god with out using a first person view. does not seem to care what the student thinks or his/her current situtation
good teacher... very lively keeps you awake in morning classes
For marriage and sexuality class, he really stimulated us to think about how people view love, it was like free therapy. He is the BEST!
I remember taking Father Kevin for philosophy two years ago. It was then that I decicded I would never take a Theology class unless he was teaching it. Whether I'm interested or not I take the class anyway b/c he's teaching. He creates a great experience
Father Kevin is the most talented professor at Alvernia. He has created methods for teaching that should be published. By challenging you to form an opinion and be able to express it, he is developing a valuable life skill in everyone.
Very considerate of students, willing to help a student out whenever he can.
is a GOOD TEACHER BUT SOME HOW I GOT A BAD GRADE SO FAR MAKES NO SENSE
This course on Christian Beliefs for Seniors College is stimulating and fascinating. I would take any course Fr. Kevin is willing to teach. He makes the subject interesting. He makes you think, and he keeps you right with him for the full class time from opening prayer to the end.
This guy may seem crazy but he's very smart and he will help you if you do not understand. He jumps up and down on desk tops and makes you do jumping jacks at the start of class. But, he WILL hate you and make you feel stupid if you do not do your work for class.
Worst professor i've ever encountered! EVER! STAY AWAY!!! BEAST
he is very high strung but he makes sure u r comfortable w/ all the info that he gives 2 u to learn
All the assignments and quizzes/tests are on WebCT so there is no reason not to get an A in this class.
I know he's a priest but he's a jerk. Tests were a little ridiculous... and he acted like his head was up his butt. Very unclear with information, luckily I had a lot of friends in the class which helped to pass the time. Don't take him if you don't have to.
godfrey believes what he says is right and is not willing to help a student in need. he marks you absent for days you are late, which in turn drops your grade dramatically; he is unwilling to change that. his quiz's were nice because they are on web ct and you are able to take them with other students.
Godfrey is the man!! He is incredbly energetic, helpful and deep. He really makes yu think and get excited by religious stuff. But he does expect his students to be real students - not slackers...
Dr. Kevin was an amazing professor. I learned more in his class then any other at Alvernia. Every class seemed to fly by because he kept it so energetic. You really pay attention in his class and you are never bored which really helps you learn. I'm so happy I was able to take a class with him!!
Absolute great man and professor!! He is the most energetic teacher I have ever had, which makes the class go so much faster and so much more interesting. He really takes suggestions and opinions from the students and let's the class kind of direct the content taught and talked about. He is extremely kind and I wish that I would have him again!
boring
Always was an interesting class to say the least and we had some fun in the class. Godfrey is very energetic and easy to laugh at because of some of the things he says and does.
He was very energetic, fun, and easy to talk to. He actually cared about what the students had to say. So many professors never ask the students how they feel or what they think. THis man does! I think he was GREAT! thank you!
While he was a great teacher in the classroom, he made a point to rave about how he loves to help people if they ever have questions. Every time i tried to set an appointment up with him, he either wasn't there during my scheduled time, or he didn't check with his secretary to see if he had appointments. I gave up after trying to meet for 3 weeks.
If you're new to theology Dr. Kevin, is great for beginners. He is the sweetest professor. If you struggle or miss an assignment, he will accommodate, but never take advantage of him. He can be sassy and quirky, it keeps the class interesting. He is a passionate Franciscan, and former Brother. His love for the topic will make the class so much fun
He makes this other wise dull class a lot of fun with he is passionate, very knowledgeable but one of a very few professor who actually cares and helps his students. He is one of a kind in the best of ways. I wrote one of my best papers in this class.
He's so awesome
Father Kevin is an okay professor. I had him a few years ago. He is nice, but quirky. He will try to explain the material but you have to read.
Father Godfrey is helpful, but his test are tough. you need to read espeically if you aren't familiar with theology. He will help you, but you need to put out some effort. His test can be tough and quite tricky. put the time in and you will pass.
This class was by far my favorite and I'm not even religious. Although you do have to read quite a bit, he makes it so much easier to understand when he teaches. You will never be bored in his class and it goes by so quickly. He does give a lot of work though (not too much to handle) but you always have until Sunday at 11:59 to hand in everything.
The class is the same every day. It is filled with an immense amount of boredom, followed by awful jokes. He has clear points but the class is dreadful to get through an hour of.
I took Father Kevin quite a few years ago. He is monotone though theology can been boring at times. He tries with his quirky jokes. Not a hard class but you will have to put in some effort to do well.
Most of the semester we had three or more papers due a week. There were at least two every week, and some weeks there were six. It's an insane amount of work but you really do learn a lot from him. Even though I absolutely hated the class and would have dropped it if it wasn't mandatory, I learned more in this class than in any others I've taken
he was pretty good at first but gives SO many assignments that are straight busy work, he doesn't even read them when he grades it. he's entertaining to watch in class because he's a little crazy & you can learn a lot from him but his class is not worth the work you need to put into it for an A, he acts all understanding but then your grade suffers
Way too much work
Dr. Kevin Godfrey gives a lot of work that is busy work and doesn't really help learn the material. It more or less helps with writing skills & to get stuff done faster. He also does not really check his email but is willing to help & let's you turn assignments in late or fix them. Does care about success as well. Lots of work for no reason though.
Gives at least 3-4 assignments all due Sunday 12:59am every weekend. Only gives them a day or two in advance. Repeats himself too much. SO much reading. Required participation.
Assignments are simply busy work. Gives vague feedback on graded assignments. Takes weeks to hand back assignments.
Easy grader if you try and on time.
Dr. Godfrey has a unique style about him that made my classmates and I want to show up. HIs teaching style and mannerisms are most likely intentionally humorous and interesting. He gives a good amount of busy work, but it is not difficult. Studying the night before a test will still earn you a B+, participation and attendance are mandatory.
Avoid at all costs. Doesnt understand that certain majors are maxed out of classes and barely have time to breath let alone to write a paper every weekend. Very knowledgeable, but not worth it.
Professor Godfrey is a leader for students to get acclimated in the online program. He used turnitin instead of the Blackboard which seemed to have few issues. For new students, showed compassion and encouragement to keep stress levels to a minimum which was greatly appreciated as a newcomer with the technology and back to school after many years
Passionate about what he teaches. The only assignment you will get is a 2-3 page paper once a week & its so easy once you get the hang of it. The first test I took in class & the rest were online, open notes. Also, no final!! Easy A if you pay attention & take notes. If you cant come to class & its a valid reason, he wont give you a hard time.
Very different way of thinking. Not clear on what to write about. Expects a lot just because you meet once a week.
Good sense of humor. Also relates well to students that have difficulty.
So much work that its very hard to keep up and then not very clear about the work. Flexible with turning work in late but then doesnt grade it. This was my hardest class ever because of the amount of work and difficulty even deciphering what to do. I wouldnt definitely take it with another professor.
takes forever to get grades posted!!!! Never saw anything like this!!! Its been weeks.........
Take very long time to grade and tough work for the whole week , not clear . Hard exams
lots of homework, you basically have to write every day. very hard to get in touch. takes a lot of time to grade anything. however, generous with extra credit and very caring. easy course but exams can be tough. exams however only take 30% of the final grade and 70% are based on homework which if done on time can be achieved.
Dr. Godfrey is a kind man at heart, but he believes every person enjoys his class when in reality, they don't. He starts class by making a lot of noise with his keys. His lectures are very enthusiastic and loud at times. Also, you MUST blog 4 times a week and write a 900-word progress report every week. Only took this class for credit, never again
Love him
If you keep up with the readings and his weekly assignments you'll do fine :)
Dr. Kevin is a very optimistic guy, and he is very nice, but the class in terms of the workload was quite tedious. Doing 4 blog posts w/ 6 responses along with a 900-word essay to complete every week (with it only being posted on Fridays) got old very quickly. However, the tests were open notes. If you take notes and try to do the work, you'll pass
Requires a 1000 word paper every week
Horrible. Would never take any of his classes again. He has a very strict unreasonable attendance policy, and treats students like children. He should be ashamed of himself for the way he conducts this required class.
The only thing he's really strict about is getting new, unused books since he wants you to use them as workbooks and write your own notes in them. Very loud, so early classes are sure to wake you up. Weekly 900-word assignments, but they aren't difficult. No laptops are allowed for notes. Class is very easy. Only 3 tests and no midterm or final.
Dr. Godfrey is the best professor he makes his lectures really interesting! He does talk fast and make you write a lot of notes from what he says in the lecture but besides that he is a very good professor which in his lectures he gives energy and enthusiasm.
Very good professor, but you can't miss class. Lots of work, but it's pretty easy. He teaches really well.
Dr.Kevin is super understanding and is always willing to work with you if you fall behind. Make sure you buy the books because you have to write inside them. After tests, you can go to his office hours to earn points back on questions you got wrong. Participate and come to class: If you do those two things you should pass with no issues.
Super enthusiastic about what he teaches but he can be loud sometimes. Makes you take notes, and they have to be handwritten. However, notes can be used on tests so make sure to take good notes. Weekly writing assignments but they're pretty easy. Participation is graded in his class.
If you pay attention and write the notes you'll be fine.
I marked 105 but I've taken several classes with Dr. Godfrey. He's heavy on reading and attendance, but tests, papers, quizzes aren't too common. It's an easy class in the sence that if you show up and do what you're told you'll probably get at least B+, but if you actually want to put in the work and engage, you'll learn a lot and get an A.
105 is a little harder than his other classes because it has more assignments, but they're not too difficult. Do the readings and show up- guaranteed B+. Actively participate and try to learn something = A. A great professor if you actually want to learn something, if not then take someone else. I've had him for 2 classes, will take a third!
Unnecessary amount of online assignments along with responding to student expectations. If I didn't have to take him I wouldn't, I was forced. Not even my program was as difficult as his class that isn't a part of what I'm studying.
Really energetic and good professor, very understanding on difficulties. Teaches for students to pass at least in the course I took (THE 105)
BRING A BLUE PEN TO CLASS!!!!!!! Participate and take notes.
