Professor Ambrosio ACCT701 required for my MBA. He was available, responsive to questions, and made some minor course corrections from the initial syllabus to make the class better. He also provided some information above and beyond the canned Cengage stuff. I'd happily take another course from him in the future.
Prof. Ambrosio for ACCT701 was the easiest class I have ever taken. Several short homework assignments each week consisting of 1-5 questions each, but you get to check your answers 3 times before submitting, & 3 timed exams (35 Multiple Choice, 75 min). All VERY light duty math on the HW and virtually none on the exams.
Fabio is absolutely brilliant, but not in the condescending way that makes everyone around him feel inferior. He's got an amazing sense of humor, and he's totally passionate about both accounting and teaching. I strongly urge you to take a class from him, even if its not a required course.
My fave. He's such a great teacher and super attentive to the students. I wish I could take him again!
This guy was fantastic. The content is easy, but I believe that is because he wants you to learn what he is teaching or what the book is teaching. He will go above and beyond to help his students. Cannot recommend him highly enough. A real gem of a professor.
Professor Ambrosio was a really good teacher. He's very knowledgeable and caring and you can tell that he truly wants his students to succeed. He's fair and very responsive, however, he does expect you to do the work and put forth a good effort; do not underestimate his class. I would highly recommend him to students.
Course has very clear grading criteria. Weekly quizzes and assessments that keep you engaged throughout the course. There were some hiccups with his new course structure but he did his best to make it right. Free PDF Textbook. Content is easy if you put in the effort.
Professor Ambrosio is one of my favorite on-line instructors so far. I have taken classes on line all the way through my Bachelor's degree and by far he is one of the most understanding and fair professors that I have had! If you read the assignments and do the T-F and multiple choices at the end of the chapters you will do good in his class
Revamped course this semester. Use of free textbook that was poorly constructed, disjointed, and did not provide answers to practice assignments in the chapters. 2 tests given. First test was poorly constructed and necessitated giving 50 bonus points (25% of grade) to improve the overall scores. Take the course from someone else
Great guy and good teacher, course work did not prepare for test. Got a bad grade on some test but overall made a B.
Really good professor. Explains concepts clearly. Always available. Answers students' emails very fast. As someone with some experience in education, I can say he understands what it takes to be a good teacher. Class is tough and grading is tough, but it should be expected in a graduate program!
Definitely the best one in the program. Good teacher. Answers emails very quickly. Listens to students' concerns and is willing to make changes to the class based on how things are going. I really appreciate his style.
Extremely knowledgeable and caring professor. He has an exceptional work history to back up his knowledge and does everything he can for students to suceed.
This guy is great. Responds quickly. Knows his stuff. Puts time and effort into the class. Def one of the best.
Super available. Explains things clearly. This tests are definitely tough. Class is more difficult than it seems, but I think it should be that way.
He is great. Responds very quickly, holds zoom sessions and posts videos for clarification. One quiz and one test a week. Has a final exam the last week of class which is majority of the grade.
Puts a lot of effort into the class, unlike other professors. The class Forum is super active. He responds to emails and Forum posts fast. Explains clearly and really tries hard to help students. What more would I expect from a professor?
Solid professor. Very good and patient. I really liked him.
Prof. Ambrosio is as authentic as they get. He offers weekly Zoom sessions that are incredibly helpful with understanding assessment content. The only downfall is that his weekly assessments contain only 9 questions, so scoring is quite sensitive. If you put in the time, read his PPTs, attend the meetings, and ask questions you will do great.
Great professor. Really understands most people taking this class aren't going into accounting, so he provides surface knowledge and avoids going too far in depth. Watch his videos, read the PPTs, and skim the textbook. Only complaint is the final is weighted pretty heavily, comparatively. Just do the readings, and you'll do great.
Great knowledgable professor. Text book is worthless except for quizzes because the quiz questions are the review questions at the end of the chapter. Weekly tests come from the ppt presentations. Final was VERY math intensive and not indicative of the weekly tests. Made an A, ZOOM sessions are a must, even if reviewing the recorded ones.
Dr. Ambrosio is brilliant and caring. He works Excel faster than anyone I've seen. Tests are a time crunch over knowledge. You have to create spreadsheets to answer exams. He can do it in 10 sec. I'm Excel savvy and may take 2 min. The tests allowed 30sec. I prep templates for every scenario in advance to get to 30 sec. Many students suffered.
Other LSUS online professors have a couple hours of video lecture each week connecting the dots between learning objectives, textbooks, and tests. Fabio holds a web conference each week to answer questions but doesn't understand the students don't know what we don't know. He doesn't teach to the material he tests, just shows off Excel skills.
Very caring. Incredibly knowledgeable and nice. His classes are not easy. They are very test heavy and you must pay careful attention to detail, but he goes above and beyond to help you. Incredible teacher. He pushes you to learn and provides help, but holds you accountable.
Really goes above and beyond to provide help. Each and every time a student asks for help, answers very fast and goes above and beyond. Zoom sessions are a must.
This is by all means a super tough class. I think he teaches it above level for LSUS. However, he is absolutely incredible with answering queries, emails, forum posts. He is always there. Like, does this guy ever sleep? He'll answer all your questions, provide all the help you want. But when exam time comes, you are held to a tough standard.
This professor is tough. The course is accelerated (7 weeks) and he is by no means easy. This course should be taught to advanced Accounting professionals as the content goes way into the weeds, when a majority of students will not benefit long term. He can come off a bit condensing when asked content questions.
Just finished a class with him. It was the first class in the program where I learned something useful rather than write useless 30-page papers. He is straight and to the point. I like him. There are lots of whiners in these classes though. You'll waste a lot time dealing with your classmates whining about how difficult this class is.
Fabio puts a lot of effort into planning the course and addressing concerns. The biggest disconnect he has however, is the fact that he remains adamant that whatever is on the assessments and final exam is identical to examples he provided previously - not true. He has a monopoly on teaching ACCT701 so you'll just have to take him regardless.
Nice guy, funny. It came down to the wire for me to squeak out a B, literally on the curve of the final. I have zero background in accounting, so this class was tough. Watch his zoom sessions. Pay attention to the "self test", "demonstration problems", and "understanding course objectives" at the end of each chapter. No feedback on Assessments.
He is still the best professor I have taken in LSUS, A lot of materials but he gives detailed explanation.
Best professor I have had. He teaches what you deal with in the real world. Excellent outline and learning opportunities. His PPTs and zoom sessions are excellent. I love the way his class is outlined. He goes the distance for his students to learn. You will not be disappointed with this class. Prompt replies even with huge #'s of students!
Lectures were effective. Weekly, interactive Zoom sessions were incredibly helpful. Stresses understanding of the material rather than straight memorization. He seems to take quite a bit of "abuse" from students who don't like math, and he was very patient through all of it. A model professor for this program.
Prof Ambrosio is great! I wish his weekly assessments had more questions bc missing one drops you a letter grade for that test but other than that nothing negative to report. Material is tough, but he puts in a ton of time and effort to make sure everyone is learning what they need to do well. Zoom sessions are an absolute must.
This class is tough but not impossible. Dr. Fabio wants his students to understand and learn accounting. He provides several tools like zoom sessions and other videos to help you understand the concepts and make a good score in the tests. Having excel skills will help you in this class. He provided creative ways to improve your score.
Tough content if you don't already have a background in accounting but as long as you do the reading, homework, and watch the lectures, you'll be fine. Expect to need to understand basic algebra - which you should know if you're in a graduate level program.
Tests were not hard at all if you do the readings and practice exams
Great professor and probably one of the few that really make that extra effort to help everyone learn. The material is hard and you go through the modules fast. Put in the time to study and even utilize a tutor to work through the problems. He offers weekly zoom sessions where he often has tips and tricks to work through equations.
Very thorough and organized professor. Material is well laid out and tailored to all learning types. Powerpoint summaries, video lectures, scheduled interactive class time or text book self-pacing. Pick your style and run with it; you'll do fine. Material is difficult if you don't have accounting in your ed history but pre-reqs are available.
The class is based on test and quizzes. All quizzes are guaranteed 100% but only account for about 10% of total grade. You'll do fine if you study the powerpoints and skim the readings. Also, pay attention to the forum. He will answer any and all questions located there.
Prof Ambrosio is a wonderful teacher! He provides great videos and power points to help you learn the material. Even if you don't have a background in accounting, you can succeed in this class if you study.
This instructor was incredibly thorough, and provided more than enough class materials and opportunities to ask questions. He was an awesome instructor in a class that could have been ridiculously difficult! If you put the effort in you will pass this class.
Professor Ambrosio was very approachable. I loved the live zoom sessions.
Dr. Ambrosio really cares about his class. He offers several zoom sessions and will offer more if asked. He is passionate about what he does, and it shows in his classroom tactics. Although the work was challenging, I would definitely take hime again.
Ambrosio is great. Not an easy A. He'll make you work, but he'll work for you too. He does a fantastic job TEACHING and providing materials. He's not like some other LSUS profs simply existing and collecting a paycheck. Solid choice.
Sadly, this was my first accounting class and I struggled, but he did whatever he could to help. Plenty of easy assignments on the IRS website that would boost your grade. Discussion, assignments, and quiz each week. He also gives a practice quiz before each quiz which is worth 10 points. He was a great teacher!! I just was not as good with account
Prof. Ambrosio is the best professor I have had in my MBA program to date (I am half way through). He does a great job of focusing on application of the course content, instead of asking us to just memorize things from the book. Zoom sessions and practice quizzes are extremely helpful. His Moodle site is very well laid out and easy to navigate.
Accounting is hard in general. If you have no background or undergrad studies in it, take the 500 level practice course first. But he is AWESOME! Super accessible, does weekly video chats, has great (short) lecture videos, weekly update videos, good feedback, etc. Best LSUS professor I've had so far! Highly recommend taking him!
Once you get in the groove, it's really not bad. He posts outstanding video's to help you learn. Take the practice assessments seriously and learn how to do each question (don't just memorize the answer). Tests/quizzes are open note but you need to know how to perform the equations. Zoom sessions are essential.
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Ambrosio! Never had accounting before this course, but I genuinely enjoyed it because of him. An excellent and engaged teacher; he cares about his students learning. Holds weekly live sessions to answer questions & work problems. Excellent feedback after exams. Very accessible and responsive via email.
Very engaging professor and was very organized and did an excellent job in teaching a new course. A good balance of assignments vs weekly quizzes vs exams. To receive a good grade you need to do the read what is assigned and practice.
Although I believe Professor Ambrosio means well, his exams are a lot harder than they have to be. He gives you a practice exam each week which is super easy and makes you believe that you're ready for the weekly exam and then that exam is extremely hard. I studied very hard and almost had a B.
His classes are not an easy A but he is fantastic in how he explains the material and how far out of the way he goes to help you. You just need to ask and participate. Definitely a class where I can say I learned a lot of valuable information. He's one of the best for sure.
This guy posts a lot of videos, its great! He also makes a powerpoint of all the most useful information without the BS. Takes notes when watching the videos, you will be allowed to use them during the test. He also gives you cheat sheets with all of the formulas that you will need. This guy is the best teacher that I have had during the MBA prog.
Like someone else posted Ambrosio means well, I believe. The biggest issue is that the pre-tests are way different than the actual tests. He tells you the pre-test is a good sample of the exam and the exam is way different. So you are confident going into the exam, then you get tested on information barely covered. Almost got a B..
Excellent professor. Makes things as clear as possible. The Zoom sessions are a must. He explains things clearly and well. One of the best.
Zoom sessions were really good. Some test questions were tricky.
Dr. Ambrosio ACCT701 class has been amazing! I like how focussed the course is - you won't be writing any papers or testing on questionable content. I watched all zoom sessions, took notes on the videos he posted, and truly sought to understand the concepts being tested on the pre-test and I've maintained a high A average. Never read the book!
Take ACCT from Ambrosio. Very straight forward, very fair, he's awesome! I got a B, but I should've tried harder for an A. He provides everything you need to succeed- wonderful videos, Zoom sessions, slide decks, everything you need without having to put in wayyyy too much time or guessing you need to do. DON'T MISS OUT, TAKE ACCT FROM HIM.
Most beneficial class in the MBA. Ambrosio is a solid teacher. Never used textbook after 1st exam (literally never opened it).Recommend master the practice quiz & be familiar with PowerPoint. Exams open notes, but useless if you don't understand the quizzes. Suggest learnaccountingforfree dot com for added content. This saved me on 2 modules.
50-70 page, very well put together, ppt each week. 1 practice assessment, which is like test and 1 test each week. Hosts zoom meetings which are recorded and available at any time. Does have chapter reading, but I did not do it. Best prof I have taken in the program so far. Cares about his students. I might switch to an accounting focus due to him
He really wants you to succeed, and he's a super nice guy. A lot that I learned in this class showed up in other MBA classes, so I recommend taking this class early on. Testing is fair but makes you think. Highly recommend attending his weekly Zoom session.
Definitely attend zoom sessions. Those allow a good majority of the class to maintain an A or B average, be careful of the final it made many people including myself drop a letter grade. I was one question away from keeping my A. No curves and no extra credit. Somewhat ruthless.
Best professor yet! He provides an opportunity to both the bare minimum or to read additional materials if accounting is your thing. Further, the professor does not equate mundane, voluminous reading with "how a grad course should be." He selects an array of relevant, videos, practice questions and short readings, along with video lectures.
I could not recommend this class any more highly. Dr. Ambrosio is great, and goes out of his way to help you learn. He answers forum posts promptly and thoroughly, and holds weekly Zoom sessions. If anyone is looking for an elective to help you learn taxes for the future (both individual and business taxes), I highly recommend this class!!
Great professor overall. Was nervous about taking an accounting class but he does such a great job of explaining the concepts that it makes sense to all levels of learning. The final exam is cumulative so it was a little difficult but not terrible!
The content in this class is difficult, but he makes it as easy as possible to understand. You can tell he is passionate about what he is teaching and he tries to answer questions simply. Open notes for exams which helps a lot! Easy grading on assignments - if you follow the instructions you will receive full credit. I recommend him for sure!!
Content delivered in a way that makes it very understandable without an accounting background. Weekly zoom sessions cover any material students do not understand. Practice quizzes reflect the concepts and problems on tests.
Had useful weekly Zoom sessions. Also, had very informative PPT slides. Last 3 weeks of the class we had major issues with ProctorU. Teacher was a bit flexible in helping us deal with that. Ended up with an 89.6 and professor wouldn't round up. Absolutely ridiculous! Ruined my 4.0. Other than that a good professor.
He swears up and down that the pretest matches the actual test, hes not wrong but hes not giving a complete picture. The test is the pretest on steroids. Almost every single answer in the multiple-choice is a common mistake. So unless you know the material 100%, you will struggle. He told anyone who struggled that they werent cut out for acct.
Dr. Ambrosio has been by FAR the best professor I have ever had. As a person that struggled with accounting in undergrad - he made ACCT 701 enjoyable and easy to pick up the material. Tests are straightforward, attend zoom sessions or watch them afterwards - VERY helpful. If you have the opportunity to take this class, I would recommend it 1000%!
W/o accounting background, managed to pull 100% A grade. Fabio provides amazing PP Slides and examples, weekly zooms, makes the test taking easy. No need to read the e-book. Pretests reflect weekly tests. All information is clear, no surprises. The best teacher!, strives for students to do well on tests and to understand the material. Take him!!!
Professor Ambrosio is a great teacher, and his videos and PowerPoint slides were very easy to follow. As long as you do your part and put the time in, you should be successful in this class. The weekly quizzes were pretty straight forward and he gives you a practice assessment to prepare you to do well on the quizzes and the final exam.
Dr. Ambrosio is great! If you have a good undergrad Accounting foundation you will have no problems in this class. He is responsive to any questions, gives excellent question breakdowns, and has clear and concise expectations. Graded practice test have unlimited attempts and give you an idea of what's on the real quizzes. No papers or discussions!
Fabio is a great guy who cares about his students. He really wants you to learn. Not an easy A, but if you take notes, attend zoom sessions, and practice, you will do well. LSUS is lucky to have him.
He is very smart, nice, and personable. For me, it just seemed like there was a disconnect in breaking down the information to a student and teaching. I would do well on the practices and not on the exams. The tests had almost nothing to do with practices because he would ask things one way on the practice and come out of left field on tests
I recommend you take Prof Ambrosio. I hated Accounting as an undergrad. Prof Ambrosio teaches in a way that you understand it fom a higher level, not just remember and spit back out formulas. It is open book and you can have excel, but you will still work for it. His study guide is excellent and he has weekly zoom sessions. Practice exams-big plus!
Really goes above and beyond to explain the concepts to students. Weekly tests w/ practice exams. The concepts are the same but the questions won't be. Open notes for exams. I never watched his weekly Zoom sessions and still scored a 97 in the class. I will be looking to take him again for an elective.
Dr. Ambrosio was an amazing professor. He lays everything out very clearly and has easy to understand grading criteria. His Zoom sessions are incredibly helpful and he made accounting easy to understand.
Overall this is one of the best classes I've taken and I didn't have any background in accounting. He really breaks things down to help students understand the material. I highly recommend attending the weekly zoom sessions if you're having trouble understanding the problems. If you consistently work through the practice tests you will pass.
Dr. Ambrosio is always accessible and weekly zoom sessions help with any questions students have. Respond to emails within few hours. There are 7 practice assessments and 7 assessments(proctored). Open book. Easy A if you follow his materials, zoom class and practice assessments. Definitely recommend his class.
Ambrosio gets a 5/5 rating because he's excellent at what he does and he cares about student success. While the material was a bit "in the weeds" for my taste, that's a function of the program and not Ambrosio. Definitely take him, but know you'll need to put in the work to earn an 'A' in this class. Truly understand the quizzes and you'll be fine.
Dr. Fabio Ambrosio is the best professor that I have had so far at LSUS. He is brilliant and sometimes hard to keep up with, but he is patient and hilarious with the student's on his weekly Zoom calls. His feedback and instruction are clear and very helpful. I would love to be in another one of his courses.
Grades on weekly practice test and tests. Allows open notes etc., but that means the questions are a little harder. Videos are good. It is all there. if you did the homework, you should be good. Never had test quest. that wasn't covered in the material. After the practice test you can enter a forum where he answers questions. Recorded weekly zoom.
Ambrosio is passionate, personable and generous with his time. 1 assignment and 1 exam per week. Videos are critical, reading not so much (especially not the text). Holds a weekly Zoom that is critical to understanding material. Final is notoriously pretty hard - nearly dropped me a full letter grade - but still held an A. Great class!
As someone who is not good at accounting, I found Professor Ambrosio to be fantastic! He does Zoom sessions every week to cover the material, lets students use notes and excel for the exams, and provides lots of resources to facilitate with learning. A great choice for those who are nervous about accounting as I learned a lot!
Professor Ambrosio is routinely referred to as one of the best professors in the MBA program. It is definitely earned. I wish I would have taken advantage of the open-note part of the exams (I didn't realize until about Week 4) and attended more of the Zoom sessions. He really is a great professor who cares about students. Highly recommend!
This was one of my favorite classes. His teaching technique is great. Weekly zoom meetings to go over the material and answer any questions you. If you attend or watch the zoom meetings you should do fine in his class. Open book test. His examples if unclear at first, just ask and he will walk you through the problem.
By far the best class I have taken so far. Professor Ambrosio holds weekly zoom sessions for students to ask questions and walks you step by step through the problems. Tests are very straight forward as long as you pay attention and actually work through the practice problems to understand the material.
My favorite professor so far! He truly wants you to learn. Test are straight forward and not meant to trick you. The material is very clear and everything from test comes straight from PP slides. He has weekly zoom sessions to answer questions and go over practice test. If you study the material on the practice test, you will make an A on test.
Definitely a great supportive professor. He will answer questions via live zoom, gives practice test and real coo! Definitely would take him again and again if I could.
Only about 80% of the people taking this course with me got an A or B, he gives you % of this at the end of class. Very intense course with no slack. 2 tests a week. He believes everyone taking his course wants to become a CPA like him. The course only focuses on Math and not on legality, business needs, or managerial. Not an intro course as read.
BEST PROFESSOR IN MBA PROGRAM! First A. He makes accounting SO simple and easy for anybody. Super engaging and helpful. Sets you up for success and really helps you understand the information. Watch the weekly zooms, and UNDERSTAND the homework/study guide; it's mandatory. Has plenty of sources to succeed. THIS GUY IS AMAZING!!!
Great professor, not an easy A. He words things a little tricky on exams but I think thats his way of weeding out people who are memorizing how to answer a question vs truly understanding the concepts. Best advice is to practice the prior weeks pre-assessments each week. The final is cumulative and studying for the final was brutal!!!
Dr. Ambrosio finds taxes interesting and can make those taking his class find taxes interesting! I would recommend taking this class as an elective. There are some discussion posts, but you don't have to reply. He has weekly zooms and posts the recordings where he goes over the practice exams that are almost exactly like the exams (open note).
Professor Ambrosio is amazing. Syllabus is very straight forward. You have plenty of opportunity to practice the curriculum. Graded Practice Assessments, Weekly Exams, Midterm and Final. Class is open notes (digital and handwritten). . Weekly Zoom Meetings where he answers all practice assessment problems. Great professor!!!!! Highly recommend!
Took 701 and 720 with Professor Fabio Ambrosio. Excellent material, zoom sessions and just overall A+ instructor.
Take this man's class. In the LSUS MBA program there's a ton of profs that just assign readings and expect you teach yourself. Ambrosio goes above and beyond in his zoom sessions to make sure you understand. Watch all zooms! I have never taken an ACCT class before my MBA, I earned an A in 2 classes with Prof Ambrosio. It's challenging but worth it.
One of the best online teachers - very clear expectations and instruction. Couldn't ask for anything more.
Great professor! Quite a bit of work, but none of it is particularly difficult.
Best professor at LSUS! I have zero background in accounting and was able to thrive every week and make an A in the class. Practice problems for the tests are provided and he will go over every question at length. I learned a great deal and it's largely due to Professor Ambrosio's straight forward teaching method. I can't recommend him enough!
Dr. Ambrosio was by far the best teacher in my MBA program. This course sheds light on some topics not discussed in other courses (extremely useful). He demonstrates clear integrity and work ethics. Every week there is a zoom session where he goes over every single question in the weekly practice tests. Midterm and Final exams are not easy though.
Great professor. Had never taken an ACCT class before, but as long as you study & the watch the Zoom, you should be fine. Responsive to class message boards. Many were crying about the OPEN BOOK and NOTES FINAL exam in GRADUATE SCHOOL being hard; it wasn't hard, it was fair, you just pay attention to details and practice problems frequently.
I am satisfied for choosing this professor for ACT701. It had been 10 years since I attended college and my current employment does not require many accounting principles. I made a B- and was content with it as week 3 concepts were hard for me the grasp the first time around. I did much better on those concepts on the comprehensive final exam.
BY FAR the best professor at LSUS. Test each week with a cumulative final at the end. Provides more than enough information, example questions, and feedback to receive whatever grade you work for (no previous accounting experience here). Attend the weekly zoom sessions!!!
By far the best class I've taken at LSUS. Professor provides tons of information, but if you read the powerpoints (which you can use on the tests) you will pass with an A.
One of the two best professors in the MBA program.
Dr. Ambrosio allows you to use your notes, textbook, excel, etc. during your exams. The exams are tough, but if you read the power points and participate in his weekly zoom sessions, the content is manageable. He is quick to respond to emails and to any questions posted in the forum. He makes difficult concepts easy to understand.
Dr. Ambrosio is amazing. One of the best professors I've had. He made learning the material very easy. Attend his zoom meetings (or watch them later, they are recorded), and you will get an A. Open book quizzes and final.
if you are not great at math, you will need to work hard. While it is work, it is fulfilling. If you dedicate time and effort you will pass. All exams, nothing else. practice exam gets you points . Zoom. Caring, and he is so passionate about teaching, very rewarding. probably the best professor i have ever had, the good kind of challenge.
THE BEST professor hands down in the entire program. Take this man's class, y'all. You will be happy you did. Weekly practice assessment, weekly exam, and zoom session. ATTEND THE ZOOM SESSION (or watch later)! He is so helpful, organized, caring and an excellent instructor. You CAN use your notes on exams. THIS IS YOUR SIGN TO TAKE HIS CLASS!
This class was a dream! It is rare that professors post great content AND a weekly lecture!! I am far from an accounting wiz, but he made this class very engaging. HIGHLY recommend and I would take him again.
There are many that say Dr. Ambrosio is great. I felt this was too much for a core class. Weekly Zoom meetings to go over HW but then tests would have questions that were not in the PPT or HW. Final is brutal. He seems more concerned with being a gotcha professor vs. ensuring his students were learning the subjects. I do not recommend him.
Honestly he was the best professor I've taken in the MBA program. You can use notes, formula sheets, and excel during the assessments. All you have to do is take the practice test, print it off, work the problems using his recorded Zoom sessions, and take the practice test notes into the assessment. The bad review left before mine is 100% crazy.
The professor is great and the course was very good as well. I had an A up until the final exam which I failed so ended up w/ B+. The final is challenging and not very similar to the practice tests so beware of that. Overall solid class though.
Dr. Ambrosio is the best teacher thus far when it comes to lectures and availability. However, for a person not having any accounting background it was tough to understand his way of explaining , he makes it more complicated. His tests are NOT easy. you have to study and practice lots and still miss some very tricky questions. Final is brutal!
Full disclosure: I am a CPA. This class was super simple. over 62% of the class received an A. Approx. 45% of the class is 100% if you do the work. Weekly exams make up the rest. For exams, i suggest you setup an Excel file with all the formulas already done & accurate. Exam questions usually ask a different question from the same data set.
My FAVORITE professor at LSUS. Very helpful, and truly cares about the success of his students. Responds to emails quickly, and also sets up weekly Zoom sessions for questions. I had minimal accounting experience/was prepared to struggle. Dr. Ambrosio is FANTASTIC! Do the work and you will get an A in the class.
By far one the best professors in the Online MBA program. It is clear that Dr. Ambrosio cares about his students. He even holds weekly Zoom sessions to go over each module and answer questions. Make sure you work the problems on the practice exams and keep good notes. I highly recommend this course (it is relevant) and Dr. Ambrosio.
I took Dr. Ambrosio because his ratings were high. Amazing class. I was scared of this subject, and now I can look at the financial statements and know what they mean. I can't stress enough - watch or attend the weekly Zoom sessions. He's extremely thorough and wants you to understand the subject. Loved this class and wasn't expecting to.
Ambrosio is the best professor I've had so far at LSUS. He doesn't require reading of the textbook and his philosophy is COMPREHENSION over MEMORIZATION. Tests are open book and if you attend his Zoom sessions you will do great. Be prepared to put in the work on connecting the dots. He is knowledgeable, engaged, and caring.
Structured course six exams, a midterm, and a final. Required practice quizzes help you prepare along with the weekly Zoom sessions. Exams are challenging, but open book/notes. Create an outline from the PowerPoints to help you succeed. I acquired more knowledge in a seven-week grad course than I did in a 15-week undergrad course.
Dr. Ambrosio is fair, helpful, and kind. He provides ample resources and knowledge but be prepared to put in the necessary work to learn the material. I would absolutely take another course from Dr. Ambrosio.
I learned alot in Dr. Ambrosio's class. He communicates clearly and is easy to get in touch with. He explains the material well and is very clear about what will be on exams. Schedule your exams in ProctorU early and do not miss your time slots. My 88 dropped to a 71 due to a missed exam slot, so make sure to stay on top of the ProctorU stuff.
And when to seem to ask a question he says to check and forum or video. i was expecting to be in good standing in this class but clearly in one test i failed due to alot of calculation with alot of formulas i made a 79 in the course he couldn' round and made me go in Academic probation as my first semester. Plus his videos are 4yrs old nothing new
Professor Ambrosio will make you work for it! Word of caution, the final is not like the practice test. I did get a sense that he's a gotcha teacher and comes off a little strong in the beginning, but eases off once he gets to know you and sees you interacting in the forums or zoom. I learned so much from his class and use it today!
Open book exams, weekly zoom sessions. Great class.
Professor Ambrosio was amazing! I do not like accounting and found it very difficult in my undergraduate degree. I was very concerned coming into this course that I would struggle. However, he explains things SO WELL. I have never had a professor who is able to break things down in really easy to understand and practical ways.
Class consisted of 6 weekly exams, a mid-term and a final and a few other graded assignments. Weekly zoom meetings and posting of the zoom meetings were extremely helpful. Practice tests were excellent for preparation for exams. Exams were challenging but were allowed use of notes and other resources. Professor was concerned with your success.
This has been my most enjoyable class so far at lsus. The professor truly has a passion for tax and it shows. Tests were very fair, he's great with technology and his examples were well explained. Watch his zoom sessions and take the practice exams and you should be able to get an a. Tests are open book, so make sure you have the power points.
I recommend attending his Zoom's. They are very helpful and it is your chance to ask any questions before the test. He also gives practice tests, which are very similar to the test. These are worth 10 points and you can take them as many times as you like. His tests are also open book and you can pretty much use any resource except the internet.
Great class and zoom lectures. Professor is engaged and explains things so well. Auditing could have been a boring subject but he made it more interesting. HW weighted as heavily as weekly tests and was straight from the book. Tests are over the reading and zooms.
6 homework assignments, 6 assessments, 1 final exam (accumulative). Open book, printouts, and notes used during HW, AS, and FE. Watch video posted and participate in weekly zoom meeting. Covers essential topics in each chapter and gives hints for HW and AS questions. Average time spent 3 days/wk. Offer extra credit if the class average is low.
I actually like that he uses a textbook because it is easier for me to follow. He also conducts weekly live lectures where he goes over the important points of the chapter and answers questions that students may have. He also gives you specific subjects the student may possibly see on an assessment or homework. I enjoyed the class.
Wonderful professor. Weekly zoom sessions where he will walk you step by step through practice assessments in preparation for the weekly proctored exam. He allows all notes , and anything already on your computer to be used on tests. Mind you tests even with notes still have some difficulty, but I wouldn't hesitate to take him again!
Tax was a hard subject and lots of material to digest in 7 weeks but excellent class. Slides are a lot but well laid out. Hosts weekly zoom session and provides a practice test. Very accessible outside of class. Highly recommend but be prepared to work hard, even with open book tests!
Weekly lecture, homework and tests - final is cumulative. Weekly homework is reviewed with a zoom lecture. Professor likes to challenge you but is fair with reasoning. Do well on your homework and average on your tests and you will pass the class with a C, like me!
He is very knowledgeable of accounting. Was very test heavy. 1 Practice Test and 1 Proctored Test per week, and cumulative final. Open everything on the proctored tests. With that being said, they are not easy. I worked really hard, and joined every zoom lecture and got an A. Tests are only ten questions, so it can be difficult. 10.10 recommend.
This is the second class I have taken with Dr. Ambrosio. Watch his zoom sessions (attend if you are able). He lets you use notes on exams. I recommend setting up all formulas in an excel beforehand and using that on the exams as well. Only professor in this MBA program so far that challenges his students. He knows his stuff & is a great professor.
Class has a practice quiz (not proctored) and test (proctored) every week. Practice quizzes you are allowed to take as many times as needed for that week to receive a 100. On the tests you are allowed to use any notes you would like to have, and calculator/excell which helps A LOT. If you have to take MBA700 definitely take Professor Ambrosio.
Dr. Ambrosio was an amazing accounting professor. Expectations were very clear, practice tests with unlimited attempts mirrored the open-note weekly exams. His weekly zoom meetings were very helpful to walk through problems. Highly recommend. He cares a lot and is readily accessible.
Great professor. Main advice I can give to do well in this course is to take the practice assessment and understand how you got each answer. The practice assessment is almost identical to the exams. He does zoom meetings each week to work through any questions you may have. He is also great at responding quickly to emails.
Great experience despite complex subject. He holds weekly Zoom sessions where he explains in detail any practice assessment questions that students are struggling with. He is able to break down difficult concepts for students to understand. Wants to see students succeed which is a nice change from other Accounting Department professors at LSUS.
This was the MBA class I took at LSUS. If you actually take the time to read/ make sure you thoroughly understand the practice quizzes, you will get an A and LEARN. I recommend you print out the practice quizzes for reference on your open note proctored quizzes. Utilize all of the print outs for your final too.
Dr. Ambrosio is a great professional that brings real world knowledge to the table. He provides everything you need to succeed and you will walk away with a strong grasp of the basic concepts of Managerial accounting.
MBA700. His class gets filled very quickly. Be ready to sign up for his class as soon as registration opens. He is one of the best if not the best at LSUS MBA program. He provided Zoom lectures, answered questions respectfully, addressed his students by first names!
This professor is good if he aligns with your learning style. He does weekly zooms and answers questions in the forum when you have questions. But the reading and videos given are a bit useless. I learned more from the practice assessments. [do those and make 100 to pad your grade]. Don't psych yourself out, and you'll do fine.
7 practice assessments, 7 assessments, and 1 cumulative final. I did not read the textbook, just did the practice assessments and attended the Zoom sessions. The Zoom sessions were very helpful and he will walk you through the practice. I would recommend to future students.
Multiple grading opps. Weekly Zoom meetings. Cares about students. Concepts are well explained.
Dr. Ambrosio is a fair and helpful prof. He offers 1.5 hours every week to ask any questions/work through problems and records zoom lectures for students to refer back to later if needed. Completely open book test. Use of basic math here and there. Not difficult to do well in this course unless you don't want to. Would take him again!
Dr. Ambrosio is an amazing instructor. Even with no Accounting foundation, I found the class was a breeze. His weekly Zoom sessions were super helpful. As long as you know how to work Microsoft Excel, you should do well. Completing the homework problems is essential as they are a great way to prepare for the exams. I would definitely recommend him.
He was awesome! He took complex concepts & broke them down into simple terms that we could digest & made the material interesting. He really cared for the students learning the subject. He was 1 of the few professors that would actually have a live class & interact & answer questions which most professors don't do. The workload isn't heavy either.
MBA 712 It is a lot material to learn over 7 weeks, but Dr. Ambrosio made it simple. He answered all questions in the module and over zooms. He goes over practice assessments in detail and breaks every tax equation down so everyone understands. Assignments are due Sunday night, but DO NOT WAIT until Sunday to finish! I ended the class with a 94%.
I was worried about this course bc I've never taken a taxation class (I come from an engineering background) & I managed to get an A. You can learn the content if u watch his videos, review powerpoint example Qs &practice exam Qs. The practice exam Qs are almost exactly the same. I enjoyed this class and would take him again!
Amazing professor! I had 0 background knowledge of accounting of any sorts. He makes it look easy, and he's amazing at breaking down problems to make you understand. He efficiently replies to emails and forum posts. You are allowed to use all moodle resources on the exams, which includes videos of him solving practice exam problems in detail.
6 practice assessments/quizzes (take until you get 100%), 6 assessments, 4 discussion questions, several IRS activities, practice midterm and final, midterm, and final. Assessments and exams are open note and practices are set up similar to assessments. Weekly zoom sessions where he will go over every question on the practices if asked.
Professor Ambrosio breaks down complex concepts clearly. Engaging Zoom sessions and helpful practice assessments make this class manageable. Unstuck AI was a great study tool alongside the course materials.
Assessments do not correspond to exams in terms of difficulty. Exam 3 will skin you alive and drop your grade for at least one, if not two, letter grades. Videos are useless in learning what is given on the exams. If I weren't four weeks deep into the class, I would have dropped it. If you have a massive background in accounting, you might be fine.
Tricky if you're neurodivergent or struggle cutting out “noise” in lengthy word problems. Great instructor with enough material for you to practice with. I enjoyed this class and have zero background in accounting. My advice to fellow adhd friends is read slowly, carefully, and know there's always a trick to the puzzle you're being presented.
Vicious tests. Just passing this class feels like a victory. Week 7 has graded practice test, exam, and cumulative exam due by Saturday. Do yourself a favor and stir clear from this class!
This professor seems kind and responds to emails, but his expectations are unrealistic. The exams are very hard compared to practice assessments (Other professors make it the opposite). The final exam is worth 13.5% of the grade, and in his own words, "it is quite difficult." This class has definitely been a run for my money. DO NOT TAKE!
Stay away from this professor if you want to keep your GPA; test heavy, exercise created to trip you up, and most will not relate to the workplace anyway. This is a loss of money, time, effort, and potential learning in another class. Disappointing, at a minimum.
You can breeze through this class if you attend the zoom lessons and follow the slides. Professor explains things very well and answers questions clearly. Tests require attention to details but are not difficult. Excel will help you a lot.
I was worried because I never took an accounting class before. He gives you a practice test each week with a Zoom session to go over the practice test. The practice tests are pretty close to the actual tests and definitely give you a heads up on what you'll be tested on. Gives clear explanations and makes concepts pretty easy to follow.
Great class! One of the best professors in the program. Tests are fair. You get almost 10 minutes per question open book. Some of the questions are difficult but there is plenty of time to look things up. He shows you how to solve problems and you can setup Excel sheets in advance. If you plan ahead setting up your notes and Excel you'll do well.
This is my 2nd course with Dr. Ambrosio. He is great at explaining concepts and breaking them down. I had no previous accounting experience, and I was still able to do great in the class. Grading is mainly 7 quizzes + 7 practice quizzes and a Final. Every thing is open book + open moodle. You can use his videos, lectures and practice exams. 10/10.
The professor makes sure you understand how to set up questions for homework and tests. Overall there are 7 assignments which you can redo until you get a perfect score, 7 exams that have similar questions to the assignments, and a final. Even if you can't make his zoom lecture, there's a weekly question forum and he posts a copy of the lecture.
Practice assignments did not prepare you for the weekly exams. Exams are 10 questions and worth 90 points. Missing just 1 question shoots your grade doing tremendously. Exams started getting easier towards the end and the final wasn't too bad, but those first weeks are really rough.
The weekly practice assessments did not help prepare me for the examinations each week. It seemed as if the professor wanted to trick us on the exams. I wouldn't take him again.
Great class, great professor. Super knowledgeable and accessible. The course is very organized and you never need to guess what's coming next. The tests are fair and you have many chances to learn and ask questions. Highly recommended.
One of the best professors in the program without a doubt. Accounting never made sense to me before, but he is actually able to connect these topics to examples and scenarios that make you see why this is useful stuff. Make sure to attend the Zoom sessions.
My favorite professor in the MBA program. Very disciplined, smart, tough, and capable. I would trust him to do anything.
Excellent class. The topics are difficult and you should be prepared to read. He uses mostly slides and IRS publications. The tests are difficult but fair. You have plenty of time and resources to look up whatever you don't remember. If you put in effort and time, you'll do great and learn a lot.
At first I planned to write a terrible review, the class was so stressful at first I couldn't sleep. Eventually, the content actually clicked and I enjoyed it at the end. The final is very easy, he is not the best at explaining but much better than other math teachers in the program. Print hw and use it during tests (open note). It helped so much!
Extreme difficult
Super interesting material. The class gets a bit harder towards the end, but he explains every question in detail and you're tested only on a small portion of the reading. Overall very fair.
Dr. Ambrosio is a clear, organized, and highly effective professor. His teaching style makes complex accounting concepts easy to understand, especially for non-finance students. Weekly Zooms, detailed resources, and practice assessments helped me stay on track. Loved live Zoom Sessions and a great professor for MBA 700!
This class required a good bit of study time; especially when we got to modules 4-6. He is a difficult but fair professor. So the grade you get is the grade you earned. The PowerPoints are very clear and easy to follow. He offers open notes and plenty of time during the exam. The homework assessments are extremely helpful and similar to the exams.
I would highly recommend taking Dr. Ambrosio for MBA700. His expectations are clear, and if you put in the effort, you should receive a good grade. The course consists of 7 practice assessments, 7 quizzes, and 1 final exam. Watch the zoom sessions to learn best practices, use the practice assessments on the quizzes, and study to get a good grade.
