Great teacher! Has passion for Small Group communication and really wants students to learn. Not an easy class at all due to scheduling with your assigned group, but well worth taking. I would recommend this teacher highly!

If you do not care about learning and never try your best, dont try this class. Besides that, this class is extremely helpful because she stresses for students to always try their best. Its not kikbak, but it is great.

Professor Butcher is great. I went into this class very nervous and actually wound up loving it. She is great! Just do the work and you should have no problem passing.

Yes she is a hard teacher and it is a hard class, but if your a college student and not lazy then it should be fine. Attendance is important! I took her class in summer and it was a lot of work, but she is a great teacher and very orginized!! will take her again!

Group Comm - Mrs. Butcher is a great teacher with many teaching skills that made each task clear to perform. She is very professional and strict, to a certain point, but it is a College level course so deal with it. I recommend her to anyone that is nervous about public speaking her class environment was comforting and this was because her persona

The class was relatively easy. Everything that is required of you and your speeches is given to you up front in the Class Packet. Follow the guidelines as given and you will get no lower than a B. She grades people on an individual basis, so if you suck as a speaker, she will grade around that.

If you have the 8 week course then you don't want to miss. This goes by quick. She talks quickly but overall is a good teacher. Test or rather quizzes are simple. You make good friends in that class.

Dont miss this class! Very strict professor. This class is no nonsense, she is very clear on what she wants. Also very helpful and will go out of her way to help her. Only one group assignment. Great professor!

She is smart and knows her stuff. However, her grading is horrible. Her lectures are useless. I never once used my notes or book for the quizzes. She made us to outlines of each chapter of the book, which took several mundane hours. The book was mainly examples in the real world, learning something new was not an option. Harsh presentation grader

Ms. Butcher is amazing. She expects you to do the work and and is willing to give feedback or assist with outlines or preparing for speeches. She gives extra credit and you should do it! I got a 99% did all the work. Practice if you fear speaking, I dont so I didnt. No fear you will never see half those people again in your life!

I took her class over the summer and i must admit after reading her ratings i wasn't really looking forward to take her class however after the first week i knew this class would be nothing but a learning experience. she knows what she is talking about and actually makes class really interesting. Her class was one of my fav. class!!she is awesome

During the first week of school I was ready to drop because the homework seemed overwhelming. However I stuck with it and I came out of the class learning a lot. If you work in retail you will get where Mrs. Butcher comes from because of her retail background. It is a great class and is college level work. Recommend!

This is a very easy class if you're not bad at public speaking and do all of the homework. It's not a heavy work load and she offers a couple extra credit oppurtunities.

Amazing Teacher. She was very helpful with anything you need. Returned emails/text in a resasonable time. As long as you attend class and do the speches you will be fine. The answers to her study guide come straught from the book. There is a quiz after every chapter, but you need to read the book to pass the 15 question quiz. Will take her again

She was an Amazing professor!! I loved her! She is very friendly and was very perky for having an 8am class and kept subjects interesting! She has a lot of hands-on experience in her field of work and she taught me a lot! Definitely would recommend and take her again.

Instructor very helpful with student to drive improvement. Clear on assignments and extra credit. Grading criteria is made clear. Class is interactive and fun.

She can be a hard as with a big ego. But, none the less she does care about her students and their overall success. If you do all your work and speeches on time you can earn a B easy. She gives a lot of busy work so if you're already a pretty busy person skip this class!

Professor Butcher is AMAZING! She is very encouraging and made this course very fun to take. She genuinely cares about her students' success and will work with you when you have issues. I highly recommend taking her courses, you will really like it.

Mrs. Butcher is an inspirational professor. She genuinely cares for her students. All of her lectures are so insightful and interesting. The time you spend with her is well worth it. She can be a "tough grader" but, she is more than fair. All of the work you will do in her class will teach you a valuable lesson. I would love to learn from her again

One of the best college professors I've ever had. She is amazing. I didn't have any problems with getting up and speaking but for the students that did she was very helpful to them. Inspired me to take more Comm classes.

Prof. Butcher is great! Some say she's a tough grader, but she's also reasonable. If you are making the effort, she will work with you. Her expectations for her students are high, but she will do what she can to help you be successful. Put the work in, attend class and participate and you will do fine.

Professor B is very good at what she does. I was very comfortable speaking in front of people so this class was easy for me, but if you aren't this is the professor for you. She will not let you quit. She makes everyone feel comfortable and genuinely cares what you have to say. She's very helpful and I fully recommend her for any comm class.

By far the most professional professor i've had. She is knowledgeable in her field, and criteria covered in class was applicable to real life settings. Sure you had to actually write and prepare for speeches ahead of time for a decent grade, but thats the way it should be! If you want an education that spars outside of the classroom, take her.

Professor Butcher is a great at what she does she explains what it is she wants from her students clearly. I was intimidated at first to take a communications class but since it is a requirement I decided to take it right away to get over with it. I'm glad I had her as my professor she is willing to help and makes her students feel comfortable.

Professor Butcher was great! She explains everything really well and if you ever have questions she will address it. She is very encouraging and even had the class do encouraging notes for everyone after their speeches. Overall a very fun, encouraging professor!

She was an amazing proffesor, for how many problems I had she was always there to give encouraging words and let me go slower when I needed it. I was terrified of speaking but I managed to do it with her help. She was really incredible.

Loved her class! A lot of lectures but you will learn so much! Be ready for homework and quizzes but as long as you read the chapters, they are a piece of cake. Do not be on your phone she hates that and will call you out on it!

Great teacher, enjoyed the class, and would take another class from her. She makes the class fun, even though it's public speaking. If you have any problems with speaking, she really tries to help you get through the anxiety. Grading criteria is very clear. You can work ahead on homework assignments. Two extra credit quizzes. Four speech projects.

Really enjoyed this class! I was always really shy when speaking in front of people but she made it a lot better for most students. She really wants you to succeed and helps in any way possible. Attendance is mandatory though. can only miss two days. Highly recommend

I hate public speaking and it was very hard for me to get myself to take this class but Mrs. Butcher not only was great she really got me out of my shell and made me feel comfortable speaking. Also shes so helpful and not to mention she gave a word of advice to another student that was so heart warming. Also she made it really fun.

Mrs. Butcher was an excellent public speaking teacher. Very strong instructor, tough grader but fair, provided OK feedback, hardest part of this class is choosing what to present on (keep in mind that she is a republican when choosing your topics). Make sure that you have correct facts, I watched her tear into some students that didn't research.

Mrs. Butcher was a great teacher! Public speaking is most terrifying classes anyone could take but she made me and the whole class feel comfortable. The homework was easy, based off of the text book. In class assignments are easy as well, just show up and participate. The speeches are the main part, as long as you put the effort in, your good!

Professor Butcher is honestly the best teacher I could have asked for for this subject. She really does care about her students success with working with speaking anxiety. She gives good feedback and has the class give feedback on notecards so you know what to change to get the grade you want. This class definitely made me a better speaker.

She knows what she is talking about. She provides plenty of material to help you now or in the future. You will walk out of that class with something; she is preparing you for the work world. There are a few major assignments and several short quizzes but they are well worth the experience and grade. Show up, do the work you will enjoy this course.

Took class as an 8 week course as opposed to 16 and for 3 1/2 hours two nights a week. Very amusing and made it feel less long. Didn't seem fast paced at all as it should have because the homework was simple and the speeches were easy to complete in a short period of time. Had great classmates and enjoyed every second of the class.

Amazing teacher, so sweet and cares about her students. Makes class fly by, and enjoyed every minute of it. Grades fairly. Makes the class feel like a family which none of my profs have yet to do. Wish I could take her again.

I had her for the summer semester and we needed to give 4 speeches in all. They weren't that hard but took awhile to complete. We also had workbook pages due so it was pretty fast but it was only a month long. No cellphones because she will be very mad. Overall a great teacher just be there to learn and she will love and help you in everything.

I just finished taking her class and I enjoyed it a lot! Very encouraging and helpful and her lectures were never a bore. She always seems genuinely interested in what you have to say and has a great sense of humor. I highly recommend taking her class.

She is very clear about her expectations. Extremely organized. You can tell she has put a lot of time and effort into developing this course. Great feedback, responds to emails promptly, posts grades quickly. Passionate about the subject & keeps class interesting and fun with daily participation for points. All professors should follow her example.

I took this over summer, and it's only 4 weeks. Really easy to get an A, just make sure to listen to her instructions. Read the rubric for the speeches beforehand, because 3 citations may be required, but to get an A, you need more than 4. She can be picky, so just make sure to follow the directions exactly.

I took the half-semester version of this class, so it was a lot of work, but it was a great class! I had never given a speech before and was very nervous about it, but I couldn't imagine a better teacher for this class than B. She did a great job helping us build confidence and made a perfect environment for new, anxious speakers.

She's an amazing teacher, she motivates and encourage her students to do their best, she makes the classroom feel more as if it is a gathering of friends than strangers in a classroom. She made me fall in love with public speaking, I can not recommend her enough!

She obviously loves teaching. She comes to every single class session with so much enthusiasm that you can't help but be happy. She loves helping and is very understanding. But beware, my view is that of someone who cared to pass and made it to every class. She has to see your effort.

Great professor for students with public speaking anxiety. I felt much more confident in my public speaking skills after taking this class.

Prof. Butcher is amazing, very knowledgeable about the subject mater and one of the most professional people you'll meet. The only detracting comment I can make is that Prof. Butcher struggled to maintain control of the classroom with a large group of athletes. I don't find this a big issue because groups of athletes tend to be disruptive but YMMV.

Coming from someone with a tough home life, Mrs. Butcher automatically made me feel welcome and at home. Very sweet, funny, kind, and professional. I absolutely loved taking her class and it was worth the challenge and fast pace. I learned a ton that I can take from outside of this class to the real world. Couldn't have asked for a better professor

As a person with a lot of public speaking anxiety, she made the environment very comfortable and made me enjoy a 4-week summer course. Overall, Prof. Butcher helped me overcome my fears and become a better public speaker.

Mrs. B is such an amazing professor !! She's very welcoming and makes the speaking atmosphere very comfortable. She gives wonderful feedback and is always willing to help her students with their speech development prior to their speech day. The class is very simple as long as you follow the guidelines given.

I took the summer class and it was an easy class but it just depends on your anxiety level. Delivering speeches get better as you go and it's not as hard as it seems. There are 4 speeches in total for the summer course. Buy the textbook and workbook, it's barely used, but required. Especially the workbook.

I just finished her last summer class and all I can say is wow she is such an amazing teacher I appreciate her and I actually enjoyed coming to class. Taking this class helped me a lot. I'm no longer nervous to speak in front of people. This class does require a book & a lot of memorizing be prepared. Definitely 100% would take again!

She is super sweet! She's truly not a rough grader, yet you just need to follow what the rubric states to do because that's exactly what she follows. She works well with people who have stage fright. So would definitely take her again.

One of the best Professors I have ever had!! She made public speaking so comfortable and not as scary. Dont be late on presentation day if will knock down your grade by 2 letter grades.

She really helps you with public speaking anxiety and how to become a public speaker . Cares about what she teaches . She can talk a lot sometimes and really fast so if you like professors who end lecture early , this professor is not for you .

I took her 8-week course not knowing I signed up for it I am not really good being up in front of people but, she makes you feel less nervous also my class was very nice and supportive so that also helped. Professor Butcher cares that her students learn to think critically. She is is very patient with students asking lots of questions and provides several opportunities for extra credit. She is super nice and cares about her students.

I took the summer class. Make sure you buy the workbook and textbook. I'd recommend finishing the workbook pages within the first week and then focus on the presentations. Very easy class, just make sure to practice your speeches. Prof. Butcher is a great teacher!

Best professor I have ever had. She was what made me want to get a second degree in communications. Public speaking opened up my eyes and she has so much energy and truly loves what she does. I took B1 and B5 and she was great in both classes.

Took her during quarantine. So kind and understands that we have our lives out of school. If you cant do a speech on an assigned date she will barley take off any credit. I recommend her, shes goofy lol.

I took her 8 week zoom summer class and enjoyed it. I was stressed throughout the entire time so I wish I would have taken her full length class but I would take her class again. She is organized, professional, funny, and I love that she has pre recorded videos that are reviews of reading assignments. Plenty of reading assignments but enjoyable.

The best Professor I had at BC. She may be intimidating but if you simply do what she asks youll be perfectly fine :) She inspired me to take the career path I am and focus in Org Comm. I took multiple classes with Mrs. B. If you want to learn from a real- life experienced and caring prof. Mrs. B is your gal. Most underrated Professor by far

I dropped my first COMMB1 class but I took it again during summer school with Prof B. She made the entire experience so enjoyable and because it was a smaller class everyone really got to know each other and really encouraged everyone! As long as you try your best you will pass! Doing it in person is so much easier and more comforting than zoom! <3

Professor Butcher is very passionate about public speaking. The textbook is online and free. Her lectures prepare you for formal outlines. She's easy to talk with. I passed the class easily. There are 4 required speeches. Each of them she prepares you for. This class is fun and she is amazing!

I took her CommB1 class and I have nothing but great things to say about it. She uses a textbook that is free online. Its an easy pass if you do what she ask. Plus shes super easy to talk to!

I took her for the public speaking 4 week summer course and she was amazing. It was very fast passed but she was very flexible on time slots for giving speeches. As long as youre a strong student her class is fun and refreshing.

I would recommend Mrs. Butcher to anyone who needs this course or wants to take this course. She is very helpful and is a very easy person to talk to. The textbook is provided online and the tests are very easy. Only four speeches and the rubric is given before the speech. Great feedback and everything!

i took a class with Ms.Butcher in Fall 2022. I've never liked to speak in front of many people, but she makes the class fun and is very understanding. I really wish i can take the class again. This professor is amazing and i am sure you will enjoy taking a course with her as well. She's amazing.

Take her if you get nervous speaking. I took the class during summer so there was a lot of things to do in a short period of time. I wouldn't take this class during summer while taking other time intensive classes (may be doable for some). Definitely has a political bias, but even if you disagree, you can get an A if you follow the rubric.

Professor B. was one of the best professors I've ever had. She is really kind, understanding, and overall a great professor when it comes to public speaking. Her class helped me with a lot of presentations in other classes. I would definitely recommend her!!

She brings real-life experience to the classroom in a blend of passion & zeal with the laser-focused mission to inspire the academic community of BC towards greatness. She shows her students how much she cares in actions, not mere words. She's very responsive to emails & available in office.

I took a summer class with Mrs. Butcher and she's a really amazing teacher! She will make you go out of your comfort zone and overall the class made me learn a lot of valuable skills. As long as you try and do what she says you will most definitely do good and I highly recommend her! I took public speaking with her and really enjoyed the class!

Man, what an amazing teacher! I took her public speaking class over the summer along with another class(pre-calc), and she was so lenient with my schedule! W class! Mrs. Butcher is the type of teacher that will push you outside of your comfort zone while also guiding you every single step of the way! Hilarious and Compassionate! Highly recommended!

Mrs.Butcher is a great professor! I took her class this last summer and it was a bit fast pace but definitely easy. Heavy on participation, of course it's public speaking. She gives you the rubric on what she's looking for when grading. Easy to approach and ask questions. I really enjoyed her class and definitely recommend!

Professor Butcher is a very sweet, caring professor. The workload is pretty light, with a few quizzes due each week and a couple bigger projects due throughout the semester. The textbook is free, so you know she's not corrupt like some of the other communication professors making you buy books that they wrote. Pretty interesting class overall.

Professor had no meet times online but was very thoughtful and uploaded lectures that help you get through the semester. There are a few assignments due every week, it can be overwhelming at times but it isn't too bad. Professor absolutely accepts no late work. If you happen to get sick or have an emergency have the paperwork and email her.

Prof. Butcher is great at making public speaking less intimidating. The assignments are manageable with practice, and the free online textbook is helpful. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for preparing speeches. Overall, an enjoyable class!

I was very scared to take this class. When I walked in on the first day she was very welcoming and it made me feel very comfortable. She taught me how to speak in a public setting. The speeches were not bad at all. She is very caring and funny! I would pick this teacher for other communication classes.

I loved having Professor Butcher as a public speaking teacher as I have severe stage fright and anxiety when it comes to presenting in front of a class and she made me feel more comfortable and confident in my ability to succeed in that class despite my obstacles. I ended up passing the class which I would have never guessed. Definitely recommend.

I loved having Professor Butcher and will try to take more comm classes of hers in the future if possible. She has great energy and is respectful. The class was easy to understand and she did a great job at making you feel comfortable as far as speeches go. I loved the star card idea that she uses, definitely helped boost my confidence.

Her class was very fun. She made sure to encourage students, as public speaking can feel nerve-wracking. There are 4 required speeches, and she makes sure that you are prepared to deliver an amazing speech every time.

She was good at teaching this class and helping students stay on track. I really enjoyed her class, but honestly it's fairly obvious she leans republican which was kinda uncomfortable during some conversations. It was only really annoying because of certain topics, so other than that the class was great! She knows what she's talking about.

Professor Butcher is a wonderful woman with extensive experience in her field, but her online class was extremely lecture heavy. I had to watch an hour's worth of lecture videos to take a quiz with 13 questions—and that was WITH the videos at 1.5x speed. Other than that, her homework was super easy and she was easy to communicate with.

Butcher is very respectful towards her students. She is a professional in her field of over two decades! She expects you get your work done on time and attend regularly. Communication is heavily emphasized. I would say she is a no nonsense professor as she is quite serious when it comes to phones and in general being respectful and responsible.
