She's a very cool, energetic young teacher. If you take her class in 4 months period, you got 5 essays to do. But it's not hard. Her class is very interesting and fun. Take it and you won't regret it. She really teaches.

Professor Torres is very lively and fun. One of the best professors here. She lets you out early if she feels the class as a whole has learned everything from the lecture for that particular day. There is WORK required, but as long as you do your part...you will be rewarded for sure. Overall the class is fun and interesting. Also it was an easy A!

She is a very good teacher. The class is not hard as long as you do your reading, and sometimes is fun. If you are gooing to take Social Science take it with her!!!

Great teacher! Her class might be pretty difficult for people though. You have to read articles and post answers online before every class. And will have about 4-5 essays to write. The essays were quite difficult, but lucky for me I can write good essays. Only take this class if you're truly interested in the subject matter.

she's a nice person and the class is fairly easy. BUT, if you are not really into the subject, the class gets pretty annoying at times. she's too much into it, and , sometimes, if you dont agree with her opinions on the essay, she grades you down. wanna good grade? just listen to her carefully in class, and repeat what she says in your essay.

Her lectures were enjoyable because she told interesting stories or showed thought-provoking films that related to the subject matter. Quite a few essays to write but she helps you along the way. I learned a lot.

This teacher is ok she's narcassistic she flatters herself often. The workload isn't bad its' doable the book "Harvest of Empire" one of the best I've ever read. You will learn a lot by just going to class! Very interesting subject and she'll help you a lot if you ask her for it! She has reasonable assignments and tests are super easy!

This is by far one of my favorite teachers at gcc. The books that she makes you read are are soo interesting that you dont mind reading them. If you do all the work then your gaurenteed an A. Love her lectures and stories, best teacher ever!

There are short articles you have to read all the time. It is a lot of busy work. She does not take attendance but randomly you will have to watch a video or do an in class assignment for points. I thought this would be an easy class after reading the reviews from this website, but I was wrong. I found out you have to be a woman to take this class, I was the only man in the class. The subject is feminism and it's not for men. I felt very uncomfortable during her lecture. I don't recommend this class for men or white people in general.

Content gets boring throughout the semester. She's energetic, really into teaching, and makes class focused but I have to say the weekly readings just get really tiring. It's not hard, just that you gotta remember to do your readings and answers on time and never miss class coz she might have a 9 pt in-class activity. Got an A, easy to get an A.

If you pay attention, and you follow up with your reading, there should be no reason as to why you would not succeed in this class. She is helpful, and goes beyond the class and broadens your perspective. Hard to get an A, you have to work for it.

Not an easy class, but as long as you do the weekly reading and homework assignments you'll be fine. She tells you EXACTLY what she wants, how she wants it done, and when she wants it done by. She's very strict with deadlines but gives you a lot of time to work on things. Once again, just do the work and you'll get an A.

Fabi was a really cool teacher. She is an amazing teacher! she kind of talks a lot at times but she clearly addresses her assignments. Also if you need help she is just an email away and replies super quickly. Plus, I took the night class and she would always let us out early! I finished with a 98%, and it was my first gcc class. Easy & fun A for me :)

One of the few professors that really taught me a great deal. She's extremely sraight forward and knows the suject well. There is a lot of writing involved and all the exams are in an essay format. she is by the book. I mean she rarely misses class, sticks to school policies and will catch you if you cheat... however she does let you use your notes in tests. some how she can still catch cheating. but she is good if you really want to learn. she is fun and energetic though.

fabis an amazing teacher and great person. shes very funny and cares about her students. Her tests are in the form of essays and you have 1-2 hours in CLASS to finish. she uses turnitin.com and her class is overall very internet/computer oriented. I found that to be very efficient and fast. SHe answers her emails within 5 min. and is very helpful

Ethnic Studies: Fabi is an amazing and passionate professor. SHe might seem mean at first but she isn't. Really cares for her students and her class is very easy but very knowledgable. Very uncommon to come across a professor who actually genuinely cares about the course and her students. Very interesting class, she is super enthusiastic and this made me really love the course. Anyone who classified this professor as "NOT" can be categorized as lazy&unwilling to learn.By far the best class I have taken throughout my college career. She pushes you to think critically, just as every professor at this level should. She gives plenty of chances for help & is 100% available. She's innovative&makes the learning experience fun.

A lot of her work involves reading papers and writing short answers about the reading. Being an ESL student I was worried, but she actually grades your papers based on meaning and understanding instead of grammar. That being said not only did I learn, I actually fell in love with the class looked forward to going each day.

This class completely changed me! I highly recommend taking her during the short sessions like summer or winter. One thing about her: she's not the most patient with questions and if you think your question might be dumb she's probably going to think so too. Otherwise, the material is fantastic and she teaches with so much passion. TAKE HER!

Best professor so far!Loved the class. Very engaging.That comment about how she answers questions…she's not going to baby sit you. It's college people! I guess that's the attitude that comes w/ students who attend a CC. Her expectations are those of a professor at a university. If you're planning on transferring be prepared to complain some more.

Easy A; HOWEVER, this professor takes herself way too seriously. She has a huge ego, and for what? Not to mention she seems to get intimidated of students that show the ability to surpass her intelligence, which hints at her insecurity as an educator. At the same time, the class is interesting and like I said before, an easy A as long as you read.

Stop coming on here to find easy classes. This class isn't easy. Think critically and trust your professors. Ive been in classes where students complain because they're required to learn. Great professor. Very influential. Read your syllabus, like you're suppose to, follow directions and do the work.

I took this class hybrid (online and a few face to face meetings). In her own words, her quote for this class is "it's not easy, but it's doable" which is completely true. The class is definitely eye-opening and you should receive a good grade if you do all the readings and respond to the assignments thoroughly. Definitely recommend taking her!

i took her class as a hybrid class. this meant that we had weekly Skype sessions, weekly homework and an in class unit assessment (usually some kind of essay, not a test) every 4 weeks. course material can become redundant but she's a enthusiastic and caring professor and it's a pretty easy class.

The class was great! Its not completely easy but it is interesting. She can be a tough grader but if you are struggling she is willing to help. A lot of articles are assigned for homework but they are fascinating. She has a sassy attitude which can be good and bad. A great professor and I would highly recommend students taking her class :)

She is a very passionate teacher because she really cares for the course. As long as you read and listen to what she looks for the class is easy. All her tests are written responses towards one essay question no scantrons or multiple choice tests. Her class is mainly all on moodle no books required. Just show up and pay attention to get an A.

Her lectures are just incredible. I loved listening to her. She really pushes you to think on your own to prepare you for your future. You have to be a really strong critical thinker and writer before you enter this class, which is probably where most people struggled. Even so, she grades easier than you'd expect. You'll be glad you took her!

Professor Torres is an absolutely teacher and person, this was one of those classes that will change your entire outlook on life. I credit that experience to Fabi she facilitated an environment that made people feel so comfortable sharing things that were very personal. Exams, were essays which she provides detailed feedback on.

The class itself is kind of nondescript; I didn't actually learn anything I didn't already know. Just write the papers to match her rubric and outline and you'll be fine. She uses free reading materials, so no need to buy a textbook (yay)

This was my second time taking her, as always she was amazing! She is one professor who is straight forward about what she wants by showing the rubric for the papers. The reading assignments are very interesting & relevant to the real world. Her papers aren't about having a correct answer, its about applying the concept and stating your opinion.

her class is not hard at all. It's A LOT! OF READING but as long as you do the readings you will pass easily at least w/ a B. We had about 4 essays and some other written things and that's about it. She's nice and funny and relatable. She doesnt grade to tough honestly she makes it seem like she does though but I think she's nice and understanding

Okay Fabiola gives her students grad school work. This class is HARD. She says she gives her students grad school work but its doable. Its a lot but read everything and actually put time into your assessment essays and youll pass easily. Shes a bit rude at times btw.

Her class was a little difficult at first because I'm not the best at essays but as the class went on I got better and her class was very interesting so it made it easier to keep writing. Proffessor Torres, is most certainly my favorite professor. Throughout the class, she most certaintly taught me what hard work means but she also was extremely willing to work with me to improve my writing. you need to try to fail for this class. As long as you do all of your assignments and discussions, she grades very easy, so getting an a is actually easier than you'd think. also, if you ask her to clarify something, she'll put in 110% effort in helping you understand. this professor just wants you to succeed which helps you want to do better.

I took the 8week online class and it was such a great experience. Trust me, if you really want to learn about minorities in America, this class is for you. She is very easy with grading and just wants people to understand the material. We didn't have any "exams", just shorts essay due every week. It is nothing hard, just do the work.

This class was truly one of the easiest yet informational classes that I have ever taken. She assigns 1 research paper(which was really easy), and 4 essays, a few discussion here now and there. she ALWAYS gives 5 extra points if you turn in the assessment one day before, I passed with 105%, it was really easy!! and she's really nice and inspiring!

Fabiola is awesome. She's fun, outgoing, and HELPFUL. She assigns some intense work, so make sure you prioritize time management. She's realistic and will assist you when needed.

Very fair and quick with grading. Submit tests a day early and get extra credit, she helps you get an A, very organized and easy. Easy A.

She wants to gain a lot of knowledge from this course, over all shes straight to the point just do the assignments its an easy A. Just stay in top of assignments.

Professor Torres is by far the best Professor at GCC. She cares about her students and wants to see us succeed. I have recommended her class to some friends , and they loved the class! She also gives great feedback on assigned work.

Professor Torres made this class so fun and easy! Whoever said that they were upset because they had to "REDO" an assignment was simply just too lazy to complete all of the criteria. Prof. Torres tells the class exactly what she expects. The class is graded by a few discussions and the unit assessments, which are not difficult at all. Amazing class

TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! unless you think you can pass without opening up and actually reading the modules. you get the grade you work for.. (she doesn't use grades, and for the final assignment, you will have to 'petition' for the grade you want). she is very clear with her criteria and gives room for improvement, no reason to get less than an A.

Professor Torres was a great Professor with wanting to help students work the best to their ability. Make sure to read through modules and watch videos, READ HER RUBRIC!!! She has a specific format you need to follow and although annoying, follow directions and you will get a high grade. Def. take her class.

Very understanding and kindhearted professor, engaging material and a fun course to navigate, could not ask for much else out of her.

She is very inspirational. Every assignment receives in depth feedback where she shares advice on what areas you need to improve on to "level up." You have to advocate for your own grade and provide evidence that you improved between each module. You can collaborate with your classmates for assessments. Please take her, you will not regret it!!!!!!

Take this class! She is an amazing professor & made me love the subject! Teaches so well online & makes the online experience enjoyable. I learned so much. Very approachable & reason able. Explains how she wants assignments done in a very clear way. She's funny & smart. I would love to take another class of hers. Not hard yet you learn lot's!

Prof Torres does a good job at pushing you to improve. She gives detailed feedback on every assignment that helps you understand how you can top yourself for the next one. She encourages risk taking and doesn't grade in the traditional sense. At the end of the class you evaluate yourself on what grade you deserve. Overall, easy and fun class!

Lots of assignments with lots of writing/creative projects, but she does this REDO thing where if you don't meet the criteria, you aren't penalized - she lets you try again as many times. She cares about her students and isn't harsh about lateness. It was a lot of work for Summer, so try and knock things out fast. That said, her class was awesome!

I took this class online as an 8-week course so it was accelerated. There is a good amount of reading to do for each module but nothing too dramatic and easy to understand. The professor herself is very caring and gives great feedback on all assignments. She also responded fairly quickly when I had questions and loves when students communicate

Uses ungrading method which is great and it actually encourages students to learn! Do your work and follow the criteria and you'll be fine. In the end, you need to advocate for your grade, so make sure to use evidence in your final self evaluation. Overall, great class. I will miss her!

Chicano studies is very empowering. She makes the subject fun and you feel proud. She doesn't use points. You either meet the criteria or you get a redo. You get to redo until you get it right. In the end, we do a self evaluation. We present evidence of our work and we take personal responsibility. We have to use evidence. She also uses evidence.

This was my first time taking an online course AND SHE SET THE BAR SO HIGH! Professor Torres is one of the most genuine caring professors you will ever meet at GCC. Expect ALOT of reading but all her videos/ announcements break it down in a way that will be so easy to understand. I recommend stopping by her office hours to meet her !

Professor Torres is one of, if not the, best professors at GCC. She doesn't grade like your average teacher, it's only based on complete/incomplete, AND she allows redo's. She is very easygoing about extensions and always communicates. She does nudge the students a bit, but that is what I LOVE. She is engaged and connected to her students.

One of the best professors Ive had. Lots of reading, but it's interesting and you learn from different perspectives and also videos she shares. Take your time doing the project and pay attention to what it's required. Mix it up by choosing to do one with a classmate. She invests a lot of her time in the feedback to help you understand material.

Professor Torres really cares about her students and wants to see them succeed. Her online presence and Canvas pages are excellent. It's also very clear that she is passionate about what she teaches, which is admirable. Although she is kind and easy-going, be prepared to work hard because your grade will be determined by your collective work.

Professor Torres can be detail-oriented, but following her instructions closely will help you succeed. The class is manageable with hard work. Unstuck ai was a great study tool to prep for her assessments.

essentially you get "complete" or "incomplete" for assignments. if its incomplete u have a chance to redo. at the end u fight for ur grade and explain why u deserve what u deserve. class is easy i ended with an A, put in extra effort. take ss of improvement or her positive comments to use at the end to prove u deserve a high grade. not too hard
