He transmits his passion to students very easily, clearly and concisely. It's the second course I've had with him and every single lecture was worth the attendance. I even know people who came from other sections to hear his lectures. He is the best prof I had so far at the University of Ottawa.

Malek is actually an amazing professor. His lectures are crystal clear and get the information across. He uses a variety of examples and tries to keep the class very discussion friendly. He remembers faces and names, even with really large classes. There really are no complaints with this professor. He just seems like a great guy.

Best prof 2014. He's cool, he knows everyone by name. He will encourage you and is interested in what the students do. If you give up the chance of having him, you've done yourself a great disservice. Although the material isn't easy, he'll make sure you feel like it is. He's that good at teaching. Really the best. Make sure you take him for ITI1100. The labs and assignments are common to all classes so they will always be long and tedious but this professor makes the lectures great. He doesn't waste time and makes everything easy to understand

This prof is the best. His sense of humor is great and he explains the coding very well with powerpoints and programs that he demonstrates how to write in class. Highly recommended if you want to understand C, not just blindly memorize and copy it.

AMAZING prof. Great sense of humour, there for the students, engaging lectures. Definitely take his class if you want to succeed and also fully understand C, not memorize it. However BEWARE, the midterm can be difficult, so do study even if you think you understand everything.

I hardly went to any lectures and I studied the night before for the final exam and still did good. Do the labs and assignments since they really boost your mark. Also do previous and practice exams since they are fairly similar and if you can do those than you can do the real deal. Honestly, this is a very easy course.

Excellent computation professor. Very involved with students, you can tell he has a passion for what he does. Also, very willing to help out with labs and homework. Walked into the class at the beginning of the semester not having any previous programming experience. Really great prof, makes the material easy to understand and progressively gets more and more complex throughout the semester. Homework gets tough, don't leave it to the last minute though. Really funny and helpful guy.

Great professor! A very kind and funny guy. Teaching and course expectations are both very clear.

Unless you have a gift for coding, this course is anything but easy. That being said, Malek is the prof you want to have. He's a genuinely funny guy who makes the lectures as engaging as possible. His lecture slides and numerous examples in class help you in understanding the content, but to do well on the final, practice ones from previous years.

Malek is an awesome teacher who finds ways to make lectures fun and interesting. His powerpoints are clear but nothing beats his explanations on chalkboard. Pro-tip: SIT AS CLOSE TO THE FRONT AS POSSIBLE since his handwriting may be hard to read. Labs themselves are time-consuming but the exam and test are fair material.

Best prof ever. Amazing lecturer, and makes complex stuff very easy. I had a very hard time counting in binary, and he just makes it so logical, its impossible to screw up. You will ace the exam if you attend lectures (even though they are power point).

A fantastic prof! Made it his mission to learn everybody's name in the class. Found the material of the course simple, but plentiful. Be sure to get started on the final project early! Wish I could've had him for other classes!

Amazing proff! But if you dont practice and study well, it is difficult to get a good mark. Final was hard, so study well for it.

Solid prof. Fadi does everything for you to do well. There's no excuses for not getting a good mark. If you fail this course its entirely your fault. At times the course can be a little bit of a nuisance since there is a lot of writing and memorization, you might feel as if your doing a BA in Psychology instead of an engineering course.

He's hilarious and cares about all the students in the class. He wants to see you succeed. I started doing poorly in the course at the time but when he saw me try, get recognized that and gave me a good grade.

Excellent professeur, il donne beaucoup de point(0.5 a 5 points) que tu peux accumuler durant la session pour tes exams si tu ecoutes en classe et que tu peux repondre aux questions qu'il demande. Les devoirs et lab obligatoire a chaque semaine, mais ca aide beaucoup a comprendre le cours.

This class has weekly assignments and labs. Although this class is a bit time consuming, he explains everything very clearly. He is a great prof and wants everyone to pass. He does great preparation for his exams; no surprises.

Excellent prof. Il donne même des points bonis et adore faire de la révision avant les examens. Par contre, j'ai trouvé la partie Devoir, Laboratoire et Projet assez difficile et demandante (10h + /semaine dans mon cas). Je vous conseil fortement de vous regroupez en un petit groupe pour ces parties si vous n'avez aucune expérience comme moi.

Teaches well, invites questions and then insults you for 20 minutes. He is cool, maybe the smartest man I know.

Amazing. He makes the class easy, not by dumbing down the material but by being so engaging and good at explaining. One of the best professors I've ever had.

Fadi was by far the best prof I had this semester. If you're taking any computing courses I highly recommend him if you can take him. Focuses on concepts more than syntax which is important for coding, makes the class fun and engaging. He gives a lot of hints for what will be on the test. If you listen closely you'll know the test inside and out.

Fadi Malek is by far the most amazing professor I've ever had. He's hilarious, cares about his students and does his best to learn everyone's name. It's never a dull moment in his class. Midterm and final exams will be easy if you put in the work.

Absolutely amazing prof, but the course in general is hard if you don't have any coding experience so a lot of people struggled. I had a bit of experience so I would just look at memes on reddit during lectures and get pretty good marks. He is a hilarious guy, randomly picks students to answer questions unless they sit at the front.

I've had the gift of having Fadi for 1106 and now 1100 and let me say he is a blessing sent from above because he explains everything so well. He also won the prof of the year award. If you have the chance to have Fadi for any course, consider yourselves blessed because he is the man.

I love this prof so much! He will call on you if you're not paying attention but as a student that usually doesn't listen during lectures, I made sure to pay attention for fear of being called on! His exams are what you would expect (do practise exams) and he seems like he genuinely cares about how you do in his course. Would seriously rec.

he is such a good prof!! although he calls students out if he notices anyone is not paying attention. a lot of long assignments. labs are relatively easy and the exam was really long but if you diligently do your assignments you would be fine

Love this prof. He teaches concepts really well. Very in-depth and clear explanations. If you ask for clarification in the lectures, he will take the time to explain everything clearly. Very funny, and it's so obvious how much he wants students to do well. He does a lot of example problems in class that basically mimic the exams. Go Fadi!

Very good professor. He's very passionate, super nice, and makes his lectures interesting. He realized many kids couldn't buy the book so he just provided all the questions for the assignments and all the resources you need to succeed.

Take his section for Digital Systems. He explains things well and always wants to answer questions and help people out. Assignments are somewhat time consuming since they have a lot of questions, but it forces you to practice which is good. Material is introductory and not complicated. Highly recommended.

If you're in engineering and you don't take his class you will definitely miss out. He is one of the best if not the best engineering professor at the university. He is something else, he makes sure you leave the lecture knowing every topic in it which is amazing.

EASILY the best prof I've ever had. I came into his classes with 0 background knowledge on anything close to the topics + no real interest in the course material, and he managed to make me really enjoy and thoroughly understand the material. Fadi is a very respected and caring prof. He gave extensions when we asked and even moved the midterm since we had so many other tests in a week. His main TA was a real gem, but the one that marked assignments gave absolutely no feedback.

If you find a better prof, I will personally pay you 100k. What a legend. Great lectures and well, everything. The course's labs are a bit of a handful but as long as you put 1% effort, everything goes smoothly.

Best Prof I had this semester. Course is straightforward but Fadi made it absolute joy to come to class. I love this man. Take a class with him if you can, you will not regret. Gives extra credit for participation too which is always nice.

I love Fadi's teaching style. His lectures are engaging and he always answers questions asked in class. He conveys the material clearly.

Prof. Fadi is very kind and respects all his students. He made the lectures interesting through his ability to explain concepts, and his main TA is a very nice man. The only issue I ran into was that some of the assignments were a bit too long, so try to finish them in 1/2 sittings. Highly recommended.

This guy made one of the most difficult courses in my year pretty enjoyable. Answers questions quickly, explains concepts well without all the tacky garbage, and slides other profs in the department use, and is super friendly to his students. You do have to pay attention and put in the work, but he's leagues ahead of the other profs

Professor Malek is very good at simplifying difficult content and cares about his students. The discussion groups are extremely helpful.

He grades generously and his lectures are great. He has a really fun and engaging dynamic with the class and explains the content very well. The only negative aspect of the course has been the tediousness of the labs, but that can't really be avoided. Overall, great prof and would absolutely take him again!

Genuinely loved this teacher, he gave the best lectures and it would be very difficult to not succeed in the class if you go to the lectures and do the assignemts/ labs. Didn't need too much extra work or at home studying, the powerpoints were great too.

Amazing lecturer. Such an infectious interest in the course material, and he always comes across very genuine. Absolutely cares about making sure you understand the content. Assignment guidelines are a little vague, but the marking isn't too harsh or anything anyways. No complaints.

His lectures are top level compared to other professors who teach this class, many people from other sections of this class show up to Fadi's class to learn. Cares about his students a lot, had him twice and wouldn't mind having him a 3rd time

Great teacher, really good at explaining concepts and will always go through practice problems in class. For this class specifically, there are online lectures available for you to watch if you need more content from Fadi. But, I recommend going to ALL his lectures.

Great at teaching and the midterm and final are both fair. The assignment marking by the TAs can be off sometimes, but the labs are easy marks so it balances out.
