Fadime Demiralp is a math student's teacher. that is to say if math is your thing, you'll probably get a real charge out of her style. she is very respectful as long as you are. And if you need help she will do whatever she can to go over any question you have. She is very beautiful, outwardly and as a person.
She only teaches how to solve one type of problem throughout the whole semester, then expects you to automatically understand how to solve problems completely UNRELATED to those used throughout the semester. She's just learning how to teach so just have patience & if your ok at math you'll be fine (hopefully).
She was difficult to understand at times, and seemed to grow impatient quite often. But as the semester wore on, her teaching improved, and I really admire her as a person. I hope she keeps teaching.
Fadime Demiralp is one of the most outstanding college professor I`ve known.Challenges me intellectually! She is very helpful and respectful. I am impressed by her patience and style of treating her students even rude and crazy ones. And she is gorgeous and hot:)Love her hair color,too..
I am glad taking her class this semester. I`ve learned a lot.Besides teaching the material well without copying the textbook or/and the hand notes, she is making you to feel the idea and to see the roots..My interest in math has been increased.I believe that she loves math. Now,I can say that I`ve started to like math:)Thank you (the hottest) prof!
Nice professor, but unclear. Genuinely cares about the students, however, has difficulty clearly explaining the material to the students. Take her if your a lover of math, however, stay away if you want to get a good grade!
Professor Demiralp is the best
she is the best, if you want to get an a and understand the subject take this professor.
She is definitely the best! If she teaches Math 125 next semester, i will take it!
I barely passed the course but I can`t blame Prof.Demiralp!I was not expecting to pass this course but she really worked hard on us! I appreciate it! I am ready to take the next step, math 125!! Thank you Prof. you are the best!!!
She is an outstanding prof!
Prof. Demiralp is the best Math teacher I ever had. After taking a class with her I decided to get a minor in Math. There are 4 exams and a final, SUPER EASY. Online hw can be annoying, but she gives an extension if you have a valid reason and talk to her in advance. Great teacher!
Extremely clear, nice, and full of enthusiasm. Gave clear notes on the board that made the book almost unnecessary, and was great at answering questions. You really could not ask for more, and to top it off she's adorable.
Fadime was amazing I just cant begin to describe her as a teacher. Extremely helpful, she'll take the time to help you AFTER class. Dont ask dumb remedial questions in class she gets annoyed and also dont inquire about her grading she could get a little defensive. Overall she made it worth it coming into class at 6pm. I got an A plus.
excellent professor. if you show effort you'll be very rewarded. she teaches so you will understand concepts rather than just spitting back formulas. Highly recommend no matter what level or interest in math you are.
Unlike any other math professor. Explains everything in many ways. When she realizes that students are not understanding she finds other creative ways to explain. Grades fairly, gives a lot of extra credit, gives long deadlines for homework. Will learn EVERYTHING, but must be willing to do homework and work out the problems.
She is definitely fair and very kind. She doesn't really let things phase her either, which is cool. My only discretion is that she is so hot, it's hard to focus. She has got to be one of the most adorable people I have ever met. Take her class, you won't regret it, unless you get distracted easily, like I do.... :)
I really enjoyed her class. She teaches the material very well. The exams are very straightforward. Just study the review sheet since the exam is similar to it. The HWs and quizzes are pretty easy. I recommend taking her class.
Highly recommended! She's one of the nicest teachers I've had. I love that she solves problems after every section so I know how to apply what I've learned. There's a homework for every section but they're usually not hard and not long. Tests are straight forward & she gives partial credit for things I would just consider wrong. Loved her, take her!
She is awesome!!!! Absolutely loved her. She teaches clearly, at a good pace, and knows what shes doing. There is like no way you cant pass the course with an A+ if you just show up and pay attention. She makes math so easy and clear and even makes you love math. Honestly you are very lucky to get her and enjoy
She is an awesome professor that before taking her class I did not have a good understanding of math and she helped me out a lot. Not to mention she is so hot
Late & Absent more than once! Set us back so much! Writing turns illegible. Too much material to learn!Dept. Fault! Not clear! Extra credit max 6 pts. There should be more opportunity to pass based on homework. TOUGH GRADER! Doesn't mark what's wrong on exam! What is she too tired too explain? Should've used those absent days to catch up!
She is a good teacher. She moves pretty fast though so you have to keep up with Hw and go to her office hours when you don't understand something.
final's questions did not reflect important main topics learned in class. this teacher is for math lovers only. students were worried for exams
Easy A+. Re do in class questions and some textbook questions before each test and you'll do great. She's very clear about whats going to be on tests and gives extra credit. The hw and going to dolciani is annoying but theres no reason you shouldn't get those points. The final was a bit harder than her exams so study a lot more for that.
good professor. however , you need to do textbook problems to understand everything . at the end of class go home and do the textbook problems and as long as u understand the material youre set. tests arent hard yet you need to do textbook and hw problems.
She is NOT a good teacher!! she expects you to know everything before you go in her class and reaches way too fast. she starts a problem and never finishes it or goes way to fast for you to understand anything. You basically have to teach yourself with the textbook! Do not take her class!
Horrible teacher always absent and late. Set us back so much and you pretty much had to teach yourself everything. Hard Grader must really study, she expects you to know everything I was completly new to the topic so I was confused. Teaches straight from the text book might as well be an online class.
Honestly just show up, listen&take notes, and just know what your being graded on and get an easy A+. She goes in a very nice pace and teaches you everything you need to know for the final. Tests are off the final review she puts up just tweaked and worded differently and study from notes. Never opened textbook for her. Also very nice. Love her :)
I used to like math but her tests are ridiculous. Her tests are hard and tries to trick you. Do the million question review sheet and maybe 5 questions will show up. Very tough grader.
Prof Demiralp was fair and her tests were very easy, all the questions on her test were based off the questions she did in the lecture. PLUS she only gives 3 exams plus a final and allows you to drop the lowest. In addition the questions on the final were exactly what she gave to us except different wording. She wouldalways clarify any questions
SHE DOES NOT GIVE PARTIAL CREDIT. Her didactic takes off points for things besides your answer that are wrong. If you got to the answer in a way she didn't like, you get minus points. I saw this on her answer sheet. I failed I think because I didn't attend because I had to care for my passing mother, but I didn't expect 0 points on all test q's.
Professor Demiralp is a wonderful, outgoing person but she is a rough grader. She gives no partial credit which I was not very fond of. An A is very possible in her class, but you have to work very hard for it. With more discipline, I would take her again. If you can answer every question on her Final Review Sheet then you will pass the class!
Professor Demiralp is good but sometimes she would rush towards the end of lecture but nothing that the homeworks (expected a lot of them and do not wait to do them the day before they are due; it takes time to get through all those questions) won't help you understand. Do all the homeworks and final review package and you will pass with an A.
Professor Demiralp does give partial credit on exams contrary to what two other reviews mentioned, I just checked my old exams and I have partial credit on them. Come to lectures and do the homeworks with time in advance since they are long and take time to do and study the final review package. With a little of more effort I would have gotten an A
I have never had to study as much to pass a class in my life! I attended every class and still received a C. I am nit used to getting Cs. The final exam was extremely difficult and she rushed through the final material. There is a NO cellphone policy in class so students beware. She can be a little sarcastic at times which can be intimidating.
My friends warned me to not take this class during the summer and they were right. If you are weak in math I would suggest taking it instead in the fall or spring because the material is too much to chew in 6 weeks. Her exams often don't reflect her lecture style. There is a lot of homeworks and questions from there do appear on exams. She rushes.
She rushes through her lectures but if you ask her to explain something again she will help you. She will also give you a final exam review package in the beginning so MAKE SURE TO STUDY EVERYTHING ON THAT PACKAGE. Also, the final exam wasn't too difficult and I'm sure she curved the exam. (I didn't answer some of the questions and got a B+)
You dont have to attend the class. Although, tough stuff to learn. Her teaching style is amazing. Go to class! A lot of homeworks on MyMathLab. See her at her office hour! She provides practice sheets for exams. You can easily get an A. She also gives extra credits.
Make sure you put away your cell phone, otherwise she waits for you to start! Annoying!! Besides that, she is a great professor and adorable. My second time taking Calc2, dude, she really knows the stuff and how to teach. Very cute and clear accent. Go over your class notes&do hmw& practice sheet before exam, it is an easy A.
Ths class is for math lovers!! Take her to learn not for grade! A lot of homeworks, no EXTENTION!!!
Easily the best calc teacher at Hunter. I just wish I hadn't taken her class during the summer. If I had taken it during Fall/Spring I definitely could have done good because she's fantastic. She knows how to teach and is very clear and helpful. Very sweet too, wish I could have had her for Calc 2.
Absolutely the best Calc prof at Hunter! Now, admitted that Calc skills can be used for daily life. If you are physics or economics&finance major, you appreciate her Calc class more. Her exam had multiple choice and non-multiple choice parts. Our scrap papers were graded for extra credit. That was cool!
This professor is the best, attendance is optional, but you should really go to every class because the work for Calculus requires a lot of practice and demonstration. She does offer partial Credit and Extra-credit depending on the test. She offers sometimes one or the other, and often both on one test. I wish she taught Calc 2, I would take her.
She is often unorganized and messes up a few times during each class period. She makes things clear, but it's annoying when she's halfway through a problem she made up and realizes it won't work. I feel she wings most of her lectures.
she's really fair with her grading - she gives extra credit and points on tests sometimes and she wants you to pass the class. the class is pretty difficult, it's really fast paced so i recommend using other resources like the textbook and online videos. her accent is a little difficult to understand but other than that she's great.
My first professor at Hunter who is not copying her lecture from the texbook word by word! She is a great professor! Teaching you the material not forcing you to memorize solutions. She is very creative in the class. She breaks questions into small and simple steps easy to understand. She is strict but generous at the same time!
She doesn't take attendance but make sure you do not miss a single class. She starts each class with the review of last one. Take note of the examples she does in class and work on the review problems. Expect a combination of multiple & non-multiple choice exams. She gives partial credit and gave extra work for extra credit for one of the exam.
She doesn't take attendance but you want to go to each class voluntarily! You learn in the class, take notes!! She gives practice problems if you ask. Her exams overally similar to practice problems and her lectures but expect one -two challenging questions in each exam. She offers different ways to give you extra credits for midterms.
Quite cool class!
Miss Demiralp is a very caring and great professor. It was a lot of studying and I was rewarded. I am sure she graded our participation somehow. Show your interest, you will be supported! It was a hard class but easy at the same time, I think it was her and how she taught the class. Positive and inspiring atmosphere, and she is adorable!
As a math lover I entered this class believing it would be an easy A, unfortunately I was wrong. She's very unorganized and uses her own examples that are hard to comprehend. Half of my class took credit no credit.
After failing initially with another prof, I took it again with her and passed with A- . Her teaching is not conventional but very effective. You learn the material with her. She usualy solved even numbered problems from textbook or made up by herself. Take notes because the midterms and final had questions very similar to what she did in class.
She is awesome as a calc prof&human. She was very respectful, responded our requests and comments and answered all the questions patiently which encouraged me to put more effort to do well in her class in return. You will see right away she is both social&math smart. She is witty. Tough&fun class!
Too much work anyway but you should really take this class with. She is also adorable:)
Great class! She is really one of the best! You should ask for extra credit for midterms. She is very approachable and understanding.
Have failed Calc previously with another professor. I took her class even though I had to wake at at 5 am and be in class by 7. It was worth it though. She makes everything so clear and easy to learn (I received two midterm grades in the 90's with her teaching). An amazing professor who knows how to teach. Don't skip class, its worth it in the end.
She is an amazing professor!!! Took the final yesterday. Problems were very similar to our midterms and in class examples. Really enjoyed the class and learned a lot! She patiently makes you to participate. Weirdly, you will be willing to participate with no fear of failing or shame. She is also very much respected.
She's a great professors, explains the concept well and makes the tests very fair, only thing I didn't like is that she gave too much online homework which took a lot of time, but other than that I recommend her, she truly cares about her students.
Professor Demiralp is very smart and understanding. She explains the material pretty clear and makes easy to understand. Fair grader!
You have to make sure you understand the topics before you go on to the next topic. Grade is 90% based on four test (final counts twice). So its really risky because there's no quizzes, etc. Make sure to come to every class, for some bonus points on test even though attendence is not mandorty she keeps notes.
She is so great!! Clear explanations! You learn all in minutes, unbelievable! She also teaches some learning techniques. Your studying perspective will surely change with her. She is both left&right handed which is really cool! Before, I thought only A+ students wrote comments here but no, she is really really great and caring!
It is a fair class. She gave us all class material. It was lots of homework before but she cut some later, ask her for it. She is understanding. Her lectures&explanations are clear. Midterm was similar to the online quiz. Her review for midterm covered all midterm questions which was cool. Very much an interactive class environment.
It was a great pleasure. Thank you Prof. Demiralp. Such a caring prof. After many years break for math, it wouldnt be easy without her.
Professor Demiralp makes a real effort to help students develop an intuitive understanding of the subject matter and doesn't waste time going through drills or memorizing steps. The tests are challenging but not excessively difficult. Attendance isn't mandatory but highly recommended.
She is really nice prof. she assigned lots of homework, but tests were easy. Would take again.
I didnt know it was not a regular lecture class until Professor Demiralp explained us. She sometimes implemented work in pairs type fun format, sometimes lectured using examples&data we made up all together in class. I didnt miss a single class and to be fair I have to tell that she did an AMAZING JOB to prepare us for exams and for the project.
Since the hybrid class is half online and half in person, she has to go over material very quickly, & it can get confusing. I didn't attend half of the classes as I am better studying at my own pace. This class was perfect for me as I do not like attendance. She tries her best to help students. Advice- spend a lot of time at the tutoring center.
She reads off powerpoints and expects you to read the lesson in the textbook before coming to class. It might be easier to just read the textbook. Attendance is not mandatory. Her tests don't have a lot of questions but they come in parts; each question is worth a lot. You must write the formulas or points deducted. Good luck if you take her class
She is one the sweetest prof I have had. Her slides were unique and great! I am very sorry that she had injured wrists and so had to use slides. However, I am happy that she had these power points! Her explanations made everything easy to understand and calculate. Had in class activities. Expected exam problems!! Do not miss exam review classes.
Just took the final . It was a fair mixture of the midterms, as expected. She is a great prof. , understanding and caring. Really knows her stuff and help students to understand.
She taught base on ppt and sometimes shows us one example, you need to read ppt at home before you come to the class, get ready to learn yourself if take this class.
I am back to school after a long break. I would definitely fail this course if I was not in her class because it is A LOT to learn difficult stuff but her slides helped me so much at home to go over each chapter after her lecturing and explanations on the board in class. Comparing to other profs I had, she did an excellent job. She is also caring.
Very disorganized in her explanations and thoughts. Long and hard homework (the website offered no online help), very sarcastic and catty. Expects you the learn from her lousy class explanations.
Understanding, clear explanations, well organized lectures and posted notes, helpful exam review sessions. Book is complicated without her lectures. Class is really difficult, way difficult than the previous statistics course I took but it was easy with her. Show your interest and you will be awarded. She is an absolute nice person.
Must take prof.
Could have done better if I studied before Test. She tells what gonna be on the exam in class. Pay attention and practice a lot
Very enjoyable but difficult class. Working in groups to solve certain questions in class helped me a lot. We should have had more of such activities. She was very sweet, understanding and patient and generously stayed in class after lectures to answer questions from homework and more. Lectures were organized. Should not miss any lecture.
Attendance is not mandatory. However, her lectures are very good, so it would be a mistake to not go to class. She is very caring and teaches everything you need to know to do well on her tests and the final. She goes through every question very slowly and in depth. Very likely the best calculus teacher at hunter.
The exams she gives are much harder than the work we do in class, and the homework rarely ever corresponds with what we are currently working on. She was nice but not good at explaining.
If your taking Math 150 you should really consider professor Fadime. She is super chill and teaches really good. She also really cares about her students and wants to hear their feedback about the class. Most kids seemed to like her in the class as well and her tests are very doable as long as you study the notes and try.
I forgot whether or not I left a rating before but I LOVED this professor! Great lecturer and trust me the tests are very fair, she is not trying to trick you or anything. If you follow the lectures and understand the homework, you will do perfectly fine. She is very sweet and a good lecturer
Spring 2021 we used lumen. The test questions are pretty much like the homework. Professor Demiralp is very kind and makes time for her students and genuinely cares about them.
Nice enough, but doesn't teach. I hate to give a bad rating to someone who seems very polite but if you're taking this class online, don't. All she did was give us lumen which is full of KhanAcademy links, and then makes you take a short homework quiz. I've barely spoken to her twice. Don't pay for what you can google yourself.
She met students privately at zoom which helped me so much because I am usually super shy to stop lectures for questions. She was like a private tutor for me and so I was very comfortable during our zoom meetings. I attended almost all class, well at zoom in a breakout room. She is knowledgeable, really knows how to teach calc. Nice and caring prof
Very very good at teaching calc. Makes the course easier to learn. She contacts you to ask how you are and when you are fall behind she offers help. She contacted me twice to say thank you for your hard work and you are doing so well, thanks a zillion :)) She is defined the coolest prof I have had.
The best in-person class I took this year! She always had great energy to teach and to make us engaged. I loved how she also lectured precalculus and algebra stuff as needed for this difficult calculus course. She is incredibly nice and caring which made everything way easier and further motivated me to study more.
Do one thing, just RUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
Run ,run,run,run,run,RUUUNN
.kjwlagfhiurhngo'era
Run! this professor is very moody and altogether boring. On the first exam she went around and ripp out people's review sheet if they had examples on it. I understand it may have not followed the syllabus requirements but she could have simply taken the paper away instead of doing that. Attendance is not mandatory but she is not helpful
The comment about her bullying people for the smallest questions is absolutely true, she is rude when you speak to her and impossible to contact outside of class, tests are 80% of your grade which wouldnt be the worst if people actually did alright on exams, she doesn't curve which isn't in her hands to be fair but there are better stat professors
She is the worst professor that I have ever had. She teaches by reading off the textbook and is not clear in her teaching. The class was graded 20% homework and 80% exams. As someone who went to most lectures, I still got an F due to her bad teaching. The professor is extremely catty and has no sensitivity toward students, she calls people out.
Although she is very nice, She tends to contradict what she says about whats going to be on the exam/how questions would be graded. I took the safety route and dropped her class before 60% of her class failed the final and had to deal with an F. She told us she wasnt allowed to "give curves" or review sheets.
Difficult class. My only regret is not asking my questions to her after class or at office hour. However, she always offered help. Now, I see it was obvious what it would be on exams.
Very trivial about whats actually gonna be on the exam, she's very rude about the smallest things the day of the final i asked for an extra piece of paper to continue work cause I messed up the formula for a question and she said no and insinuated that i don't trust her enough to just use pencil, like wth, I'm usually in the A/A+ range for math soo
Good job
Shes bad
Worst math professsor
Looks like she is writing good reviews herself here, since I took her class and what she said in the class is reflected in her good comments. She decided to teach 7 am class Calculus and made it fully online and only office hour accessible, when you get to office hour, she says "I am not going to explain the whole concept, I have others" Avoid!
I took in-person morning class with her last semester. Cannot complain. She was energetic. Attendance was not required but rewarding as she gave tips towards exams. Too many chapters though. Confusing topics. Homework was not overwhelming.
Where to start? She teaches by reading the textbook and then summarizes it for you. Her exams are brutal. I do everything she teaches, put in everything I was taught, and still receive a subpar grade. If you take her class, watch videos on YouTube or something, and make sure to do homework cause exams are gonna be brutal.
She is the best professor I have ever had! She is a nice person and amazing professor. She explained every single difficult topic in a way that I understood why I am using those formulas. The exam was in multiple choice but I would not say it was too simple, but if you attend to her lecture, getting good score is not a difficult task.
She is a great professor and gives great lectures. The exams were multiple choice except the final as it was departmental but very easy. Tells you exactly what you need to know so easy to pass.
The professor has a specific teaching style that works well if you engage with it. Attend lectures, read the textbook, and use resources like Unstuck ai for study prep. The exams can be challenging, but the material is manageable if you put in the effort.
This professor is extremely knowledgeable and cares for her students!!! Not only did she solve homework problems with us in class but she made sure to prepare us for her midterms and the final. Her midterms clearly reflect the lecture material so make sure to be front seat and pay attention. She also posts the lecture notes.
She makes things very clear of what will and won't be on exams, she is very engaging in class and is very organized with her slides. You can ace your exams if you just study from her slides and practice her worked examples. Attendance is recommended but I promise you'll have fun.
Cold calls, no review material, test heavy, not good at explaining, grades harshly, slides are not well written, has accent
