DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. Her tests are very hard, and only consts of about 16 questions - 14 of which are 5 points a piece and the last 2 are partial credit math problems worth 10 points a piece. She covers the basics of how to do the math, and then tests over ways to do the math not covered in class. She is a horrible teacher
Dr. Yarberry was really good. There are 10 available bonus pts for EVERY TEST, final exam included, that you can get by taking quizzes. The tests are short, but she posts optional HW questions and she has a copy of them with the work shown on her door. The test questions are just like the HW questions. She's also super nice...probably too nice.
She goes over all the material really well. She will even do a problem with a clicker and make sure the class is getting it before going on. She is really nice and will explain things to you if you ask.
She might nt be such a bad teacher if she didn't come off as a schitzophrenic(sp*). One moment she'll be explaining the lectures with excitement and then the next moment she's talking to you as if she's comforting you cause your mom just died or something...no joke
She gives 10 bonus points on every exam that can really help. I found that if you do the problems she has on her website you do ok and if you ask her questions she gladly will answer them.
She really cares about her students, and will do anything to help you through.
Dr. Yarberry is a wonderful professor. She explains the material very well and is always available for questions. She will do anything to help you learn. She posts quizzes on WebCT that count as bonus points for the next test which is really nice. You can easily get an A in her class. You don't even need a book. She's great!
I love Dr. Yarberry! She is such a wonderful teacher! She wants you to pass her class and she will do anything to help you. She hold study sessions before each exam so you know exactly whats on the test. If you're going to take Chem, take Dr. Yarberry!!!
Dr.Yarberry is by far the MOST CARING teacher i've ever had. SERIOUSLY. Notice i didnt say she gives grades; that's not what i mean by being caring. She really does help with ANY confusion. Sometimes too much help b/c her lectures are plain and simple. Even the most difficult-to-understand concepts are made simple, and I AM NOT A WIZ!!!!!
She is such a devoted teacher, and really puts a lot of effort into being a great teacher instead of just a great scientist. Her explanations are crystal clear, and she will never make you feel stupid. Anytime you just want a pep talk and encouragement she will give it. I recomend her to everyone.
I took her for Phys Chem 1 and she was great. I loved her. She was clear and made class fun. Her tests are a little difficult but if you do the homework she has avaliable and ask questions you will do fine. You will stay in lab almost the whole 2 hours tho. She made it easy for me to understand as apposed to my high school teacher! I recommend her!
Dr. Yarberry is awesome. i had her for phys chem 1 and she was a lot of fun and very helpful. i didn't really like chemistry coming into the class but she made it interesting and easy. her tests are pretty easy too as long as you know the material. she gives many oppurtunities for review outside of class. just an overall great teacher!
She is an AMAZING teacher. She is SO nice and sweet, and will bend over backwards, anytime, to do ANYTHING she can to help you understand the material. Her lectures are extremely easy to understand. Definately do the online quizzes she gives-they are just for bonus and will usually bump your test grades up a letter. Overall, a GREAT teacher :)
Incredible. Great teacher, really cool, really nice. Never opened the book, alot of bonus from easy quizzes. Deffinitely recommend.
Nice teacher very helpful- quizzes are for bonus points- do NOT waste your money on the textbook- you WILL NOT use it!
She is a very nice lady but she got on my nerves so much in class! She repeats EVERYTHING about 20 times. Her class is easy, however, so I would definitely recommend taking her. Take Dorey for lab if you have the option though! He is much easier and will keep you entertained for the 2 hour lab!
Dr. Yarberry is a great teacher. She is always very clear and makes things easy to understand. Her bonus quizzes are super easy and really help out, and her tests aren't too hard. She is always very nice and very helpful, and I highly recommend taking her!
She is very helpful and easy to understand.
Great teacher, although I hated the class. I would definately take her again. She is even still willing to help even though I have someone else for chem II. Definately take her over some of the others.
Dr. Yarberry is a really good teacher. She is very willing to help, and a very good teacher. I wish she taught Phys. Chem II!
Her lectures are so slow paced that you can lose track just from sitting there so long. She focuses on the math part of Chemistry and does math examples in class. Your test will be exactly like your homework and assignments, so make sure you do those correctly. She wants to help people who need help, so don't be afraid to ask.
Dr. Yarberry is super cool. She's extremely helpful and always available. The tests aren't easy, but you do get a study guide, the notes are available on her website, and she holds a study session before each test. She drops the lowest test grade, lowest homework grade, and lowest lab grade. She's awesome!
dr. yarberry is a great teacher. She makes an effort to learn your first name and is always available 1-on-1 for questions in lab (the lecture has a lot of students). She is fairly easy. Study though! All your points will rush in at the end of the semester, and you don't want to get caught off-guard.
Great teacher. Very helpful and pretty easy class!
she is a meany!
She was a great teacher, it's just important that you go to class and pay attention because it's easy to get left behind. The practice questions on her website are exactly like the ones on her tests.
Don't take this class in the summer! She didn't know what she was doing b/c it was her first time to teach it! She was not very helpful! Very Confusing! Hardest Class in all of my 4 years at UCA!!
Dr.Yarberry was a great teacher. Her test weren't multiple choice but if you did the optional homework, it was the same kind of questions. I loved the class and the labs weren't bad at all. Do the bonus quizzes online b/c they can really help your grade!! loved her and wish I could take her again!!
Dr. Yarberry was a great Chemistry teacher. I really enjoyed her class, unlike any other Chem class I've had. She made the class interesting and was very helpful. I liked her a lot :)
I don't think woman really knows what she is doing. Her tests are okay if you've had chemistry in the past. But if this is your first chem class ever or in awhile, you're going to struggle. She doesn't cover information very well and seems annoyed when you ask her questions. Find another Chem 1 teacher.
Gets very excited about teaching. Doesn't yell or anything, just seems kinda emotional about it. She doesn't give you harldy any homework, but you have pre-labs. She also makes the tests a lot harder than she has too, and I'm not just saying that becuase i'm lazy.
Dr. Yarberry is the best professor if you're taking Phys Chem. She explains everything really well and wants to be sure you understand and actually cares about how you do in the class. She offers bonus, and her exams aren't hard if you study. She's always available for help. Take her!! You won't regret it.
She is a good teacher. I got a C but could have got a B Sometimes the class is dull but I am a Bio major so thats to be expected. I never used my text book, she gives optional homework that has questions layed out real similar to the test. With some effort and maybe going to see her while she is in her office, she is always there, you can get an A.
She's really nice. Her class starts out very easy and then gets harder. If you pay attention and get help when you need it, you'll make a good grade. She is very into Chemistry and gets excited when she teaches. She was about as good as a Phys Chem teacher gets. Generally, just a difficult class.
Dr. Yarberry is an amazing professor. She is always willing to help and really tries to get to know all her students. I am not good at Chemistry but passed her class with flying colors. She's the best.
Wonderful instructor who continually improves her teaching-could not be better!
She's awesome! Always available for extra help & 1on1 tutoring. She cares about her students success.
I absolutely loved her, even Though I'm not a fan of chemistry. She tries to make understanding it as easy as possible. She offers bonus, and practice homework that is helpful on all the tests. She also drops your lowest test and lab grade. Just go to class and listen and you will definitely learn a lot!
Dr. Yarberry is one of the best professors I've had thus far. She really tries to help you, and she gives you every opportunity to improve your grade. She offers lots of bonus and drops the lowest test grade AND the lowest lab grade. I would take her again if I could.
If you are just starting chemistry courses, then she is the best to take hands down. Her test are short answered with solving problems, there is a lab final, She does a lot of neat chemistry experiments in class to keep you interested, and if she would have been avaible for other classes I would have taken her again. Lowest test grade dropped!!!
The class is hard, but she makes it as easy as possible. She is extremely helpful, curves the grades, but if you don't put forth any effort, then you don't need to take Chem. She is an amazing teacher and I would recommend her to anyone. If you can't pass with her, you will never pass any Chemistry class.
She is a GREAT teacher for anyone who doesn't like chemistry or isn't good at it. I had chemistry in high school and another class in college, and i never understood any of it until this year in her class. she drops an exam, 2 labs, and like 4 hw assignments. i am taking her again for chem 2450 because i actually understand chemistry for once.
She is a GREAT teacher! She takes things step by step, building up to the big picture. If you are worried about taking chemistry for any reason then TAKE her. You will do great! Plenty of easy assignments to help raise grades, and drops 10 homeworks and 1 test at the end. Will do absolutely anything to make sure you understand and succeed.
Yarberry is a great prof, if a little stiff at first. She is very fair, and truly works to make sure you make good grades. She never cancels a class, which shows her dedication to your education. She also encourages questions, which helps you understand what she's saying.
SHe is the best Phys Chem II professor on campus!! She is very good at what she does!! She will not lie to you and tell you the class is easy because it is not! She offers lots of extra credits and explains everything really well!! I recommend taking her!!
I had Dr. Y for Phys Chem I and II. She is very good at getting the concepts across to her students. She has lots of in class worksheets and lots of opportunities to ask questions and get in class help. Online quizes add extra credit onto her exam grades. She is great and I definitely recommend her classes.
Dr. Y's class is difficult because Chem2 is difficult. Write down her example problems and don't miss class. Use her office hours and don't be afraid to make an appointment with her for extra help! She has high expectations for student's effort, especially with labs. Your raw final grade will be your final grade if its lower than your class grade
She's a great professor! She's extremely helpful and will do just about anything to make sure you succeed. One downside, you sometimes feel like she's talking to you like your a kindergartener, but I'd much rather have that than someone talking over my head.
Dr. Yarberry never really seemed like the happiest of people. Perhaps that is because it was an 8 am class... anyways she loves teaching others about chemistry for sure! Her tests are challenging, but there is a TON of internet work to bring your grade back up. Plus you can drop your lowest test grade at the end of the semester.
This class is super easy for a science course. She has study sessions before every test and tells you exactly what is going to be on the tests. She drops 1 test grade, 4 of your online assignments, and 1 lab. She doesn't explain things well, so if you need to take information from this course to another, you should take someone else.
Had her for Chem 1 and 2. She is the best teacher I have had for freshman year. If you put in a little work and do the optional homework or test review you should do fine on the tests. She isn't going to trick you or give you something you haven't gone over. If you want to learn chemistry in a way that isn't over the top difficult take her!
Will go above and beyond to help her students. She will make appointments to work with you. Honestly, she saved my grade. She provides PLENTY of extra credit.
I'm not good in chemistry in high school but made A+ in her chem 1 and 2 with minimum studying. just concentrate listening to her in class.
I loved Dr. Y! She has a flipped classroom so you watch the lectures on your own time and do problems in class. This helped me understand what was going on so much! She gives plenty of opportunities for bonus and drops low grades. I would definitely take her again.
Chemistry has always been the absolute hardest subject to me--Dr. Yarberry has made it so simple! She is such a great teacher! She usually explains one concept a day, and gives many examples. She also provides numerous bonus opportunities and drops many grades.
I loved her class, and I found it relatively easy, but I had already taken 2 chemistry classes in high school. She usually does a flipped classroom where you watch lectures online and come to class to work on the homework. I didn't watch the lectures and still did great in the class. You have to work for your grade, but she will help you.
Dr. Y is fantastic I had her 1451. She is has many bonus opportunities and is always willing to help her students whether it is study sessions or 1-on-1 tutoring in her office.
I came into college without a very strong Chemistry background. but Dr. Y made this course easy if you'll put in the work for it. She offers many extra credit opportunities and study sessions before each test.
Dr. Yarberry is my absolute favorite professor. She is such an amazing person. She goes beyond out of her way to help students learn. She wants you to succeed! If you are good at chemistry, this class is an easy A. If you are not, chances are you'll make an A if you work for it, and a B as long as you try. Trust me, you won't fail; she's that good!
I LOVE this professor she always makes time for her students. I struggled with chemistry but she spent numerous hours helping me to understand. I will gladly take her again. If you need help don't be scared to ask for it
Dr. Yarberry is an amazing professor! She has a flipped classroom, meaning you watch her video lectures outside of class then in class she goes into detail on the topics and works problems. She truly cares about her students and gives plenty of extra credit. She's always available in her office and makes it basically impossible to fail this class!
I loved this class! I struggled with a different professor in College Chem 1, but Dr. Y helped me so much. It is reverse classroom, but her lectures and practice problems help you understand. She drops low labs, tests, and quizzes. TAKE HER CLASS!!!
Dr. Yarberry is the best teacher I've had in college. She makes chemistry super easy and provides so many opportunities to pull up your grade if you are struggling.
Dr. Y is amazing. She has a flipped classroom so you can watch every lecture online, but i preferred the class lectures cause she would give additional info. Dont get the book. Her voice can be annoying, but she makes the info easy to grasp and gives a lot of bonus points. If you can do the (unrequired) homework, then you can pass the tests.
Dr. Yarberry is the best science teacher I've ever had. I suck at Chemistry, but pulled an A in her class. It took hard work, but she explains things well and will work with you. She provides you with plenty of resources and has in depth videos for every lecture. She doesn't curve tests, but she drops grades and gives a lot of extra credit.
She lectures in class and posts videos of every subject online for further optional help. She gives up 40 bonus point for the semester added on to your final grade. She hands things back quickly and is always there if you need help. I would take her again if I could.
I had Dr. Yarberry for Chem 1 and Chem 2. She is a great professor that will do anything to help you succeed. If you do the practice problems she gives, you should do great on the tests.
Amazing teacher & will do everything to help you succeed. Flipped style class. You have to watch lecture videos & do small quizzes before class. good lectures w/ additional info to videos. great at explaining questions. if you can do the homework problems (not required), tests will be fine. if you struggle in chem, this IS the teacher you want.
Dr. Y is the most generous professor Ive had. She cares about her students and wants you to succeed which isnt very common. Shes amazing at explaining things in a way you can understand and she has all of her lectures on blackboard so you can listen to them and take notes on your own. Take her class, you wont regret it!
I only took pre-ap chem junior year of high school and so I was really nervous going into college chem, however she is the best teacher I could've asked for. There isn't a lot of homework and it's typically little 5 point quizzes that are mostly just lab prep or test practice. Lots of bonus opportunity and chances to save grade Very helpful prof
Dr. Y is one of the best professors Ive ever had in college! Take her! You wont regret it. You can tell she really cares about her students and her lectures are very easy to understand!
One of the kindest professors I've ever had, but not very helpful. You can bust your butt in that class and more and more information is just thrown at you while you're drowning. 4 (intense) exams are given and then she continues to teach new material before the final and says it "will be useful in College Chem 2".
very nice prof, but she goes over material SO fast. up to 30 bonus pts and she drops your lowest test and lab. she said she gives partial credit for tests but she doesn't. A TON of 5 pt quizzes. DO NOT SKIP THOSE, they add up fast. her final was the worst test of my life. 19 pages, all open response. overall she's okay, chem in general is just hard
I would 100% take her! best chem 1 and chem 2 teacher you can take at UCA. If you work for it and try you will do good. She is always willing to help. All you have to do is put in the work. She is very easy to understand and she made me love chemistry and I was not a chemistry person at all
Dr. Yarberry is by far the best chemistry teacher I've ever had! She explains topics where students can understand and gives lots of extra credit opportunities. Gives 4 tests and drops the lowest. Prepare for the test by doing the homework as practice. Take good lecture notes and don't bother reading/buying the textbook.
I took Dr. Yarberry last summer and it was one of the best decisions of my college career. Her lectures were fast-paced but not hard to follow, however, she has a little bit of a monotone voice and it can be easy to zone out. There were 5 tests over the course of the semester and no final! Definitely recommend taking her, especially during summer
If you take Yarberry, you will have more homework than you would with any other professor. She makes you take the ACS exam. She has amazing office hours but for someone who has never taken chemistry I did not find it helpful. She will go out of her way to help you.
Dr. Y was an amazing chem teacher. Last time I took chem was in HS and she made it easy to understand. She is very caring. You have to study for the tests. The tests are mainly math based. She gives EC opportunities and take advantage of them. I would highly recommend her if its been a while since youve taken chem like me.
Overall she's a really good teacher and ensures that you have as much resources as possible but of course its on you to do them for practice. She's very flexible about office hours and even gives you TONS of bonus points opportunities. She makes a lot of small mistakes in her math frequently. Basically if you put the effort, you'll be successful.
She is a sweet lady who really wants you to learn the material. Super helpful in office hours and in lecture (you must go). Tests are math heavy and are nearly identical to the optional homework, so practice! She grades strict on labs, so double check your work. Many points come from online quizzes, etc so be aware of that. 25 possible bonus points
She assigns a lot of simple quizzes and videos to watch that only take you a short amount of time, they build up and help your grade. Tests are weighed pretty heavily but are very similar to the optional homework, sometimes straight out of them. She really prepares you prior to lab. Take advantage of the resources she provides and you'll succeed.
This is the best professor I had at UCA! She is so caring, and she tries really hard to make sure all of her students understand the material! I definitely recommend people taking this course!
Words cannot describe Dr Y. She is so amazing, caring, and passionate about her students and lectures. Her tests are math heavy (4 x 125 pt) and there are a lot of easy online quizzes. If you are struggling, take advantage of her office hours. There are 25 bonus points so take advantage of those too. Overall, you have got to take a class with her!!
Dr. Y was one of the best teachers I have had! She presented tons of homework assignments and held a quiz every Friday. She also gave multiple tests (which were easy if prepared) and even offered extra credit assignments at the beginning and end of the semester. Overall, she made sure her students were on track and would do anything to help them.
Amazing professor! She is really invested in her students and I would definitely recommend her!!
Sweetest prof ever! She is VERY accessible outside of class (10/11pm) and cares so much about her students. I took AP Chem in high school so the class was very easy for me, but if you just pay attention you will be fine. She also drops a lot of grades at the end of the sem. Attendance isn't mandatory but she takes it on two random days for a grade!
The best! An A is possible. I hadn't taken chem since 10th grade and I passed with an A. The lab is easy. Never used the textbook. She is so kind and so willing to help. Tons of bonus points as well. It is still chemistry so I'm not saying it is easy but she makes it easy to comprehend. Take her you won't regret it at all!
I was most nervous about taking chemistry, because I struggled in high school. Dr. Yarberry was an amazing teacher that goes above and beyond to help her students do well in her class. By far the most caring teacher I have had at UCA.
Dr. Yarberry is amazing. She is always available outside of class and responds in a timely manner. I highly recommend taking her for any chemistry class. She makes everything very understandable and she is so helpful.
Dr. Yarberry is amazing! Her tests are exactly what she says they will be, no surprises, and they are pretty easy to prepare for. She did study sessions over zoom the night before every exam which was super helpful. I would highly recommend going to her office hours if you need literally anything, she is super nice and always happy to help!
The best professor Ive had. Gave about 40 points in extra credit assignments and dropped a bunch of grades (homework, labs, quizzes) I made a B and thats with making a C average on exams. Just take super good notes and she reviews the night before quizzes. 100% recommend her.
She will take attendance for a grade. I thought her lectures were very clear and concise. She uses Aktiv Chemistry for this course. A few times, I forgot about an assignment or quiz and could not make it up because she doesn't allow late work, but that's on me (keep track of your assignments!). A few bonus opportunities.
I really enjoyed Dr. Yarberry for Chemistry 1. She does everything she can to make concepts clear and help her students be successful. She does have a hypoallergenic service dog, so if you are afraid of dogs this class may not be for you. There are lots of opportunities for small assignments, dropped grades, and extra credit. Great professor!
She gives many bonus points! She makes sure all students that want to understand do. Her exams are just like her practice homework (hw not for grade) but she does have short quiz weekly and 2 aktiv homework due before next class. Her dog is really cute! Dr. Y made chemistry really interesting and I couldn't recommend her more!
She's a really good professor because she likes her job. There is homework every week and an exam like every 2-3 weeks but if you study when the material is given out you should be fine.
super good professor would definitely take again. great at teaching and you can tell she loves what she does. very good at explaining the material and giving good feedback making sure everyone understands. love her!
Really good at explaining concepts. GO TO OFFICE HOURS as soon as you find something you dont understand, she makes it so much easier. She drops the lowest test, homework, and quiz, so it is really easy to keep a good grade. Lab is mandatory but really easy, she always helps!
Her flipped classroom style is very helpful - only if you do it correctly. Watch the videos and you'll understand the class, it's simple. Most of her tests are pass or fail. Optional final, plenty of bonus point opportunities, easy A online assignments. Very easy to talk to and a very kind woman. Would take her again.
Dr. Yarberry was a very nice lady, and I would definitely recommend for Chem 1. The labs, online quizzes and homeworks carried my grade to an A, and the tests were not overly hard (Got Bs on all of them) and there are extra credit opportunities. I don't think I could've gotten an A without her being the teacher of Chem 1.
Dr. Yarberry is a very sweet and caring lady. She wanted you to pass and did a lot to make sure you had a good grade. She drops A LOT of assignments. She also provided bonus opportunities. She was also just a very good teacher. She gave examples on how to complete all assignment questions and made chemistry easier to understand overall.
Pay attention in every lecture, do the optional homework problems, and you will easily pass this course. The weekly quizzes, assigned homework, and lab assignments can add up to a lot of work, so stay ahead of it. Dr. Yarberry clearly explains all topics. She sometimes errs and her voice is a bit grating, but she is a great educator.
