Junus mutters a whole lot. He is very hard to understand and I don't know why he got his job.
hard tests, have to go to all the classes inorder to do good, 40% is class examples. not willing to help you with missed notes, quick pased, confusing
s-s-s-stutters alot, hard to understand..don't recommend this prof..he can also be very rude.
I think he's a great teacher, knows his stuff and knows how to teach it. That's what counts!
Great man; I learned more in his class than about 5 others combined. I got an A, but I worked for it.
Prof. Junus is the best prof I had at SMU. You have to work hard BUT I learned so much from his course.
I don't really think that Junus stutters too much, but maybe I'm biased b/c I am amazed at all this guy knows. Don't expect to sleep through his class if you want a decent mark. His tests aren't overly hard, but you do have to do the work!
Excellent prof. Junus knows his stuff and it really shows. This is my second course with him and I have learned a lot from him. You cn get an A but you have to do the work.
Junus was the hardest teacher I have had. When I thought I had a good idea about what he wanted I failed or got a D on papers. I went to class, listened, took good notes, and studied and I still got a D. He is extremely knowledgeable but HARD!
Yeah, he does challenge his students. But I learned a lot from him and I did get an A.
Good Prof. Good teacher. Tests are not too hard but you have to go to class otherwise you are screwed.
He's a good guy and really nice when you talk to him in his office but if you don't go to the lectures you're screwed. he doesn't put his powerpoints online which kind of sucks.
Good Prof but expects a lot from students. He thinks we should be as smart as him. Though this may sound nice, he may push students who already doing the best they can. He is clear and helpful and at times intimidating. Overall, he teaches well.
He thinks that if you are a student of his, that you should spend 95% of your time studying and working on stuff for his class. He is a workoholic, gives ~12 page assignments each week for his stats class, and the man is EXTREMLY egotistical.
I took 3 courses with Junus - I learned a lot and did well in each one, but you have to work for your grades in his classes. Great prof, though, one of the best in the Psych department.
I took four courses from Junus and got A's in all of them. He teaches you a lot of material. You really have to work for hard for a good mark. Students who are looking for easy courses should stay away from Junus. I think he is one of the best profs at SM
He is a great man, the classes are fun and he uses a lot of examples to help you understand. Go to Class or you will not do well. On the test he puts questions such as "In class Prof. Junus said this" and they are easy points if you go to class.
Very unhelpful ****....not good at all
Research Methods...AWESOME professor, so clear and demands a lot, but in a fair way. Is very clear and helpful and cares about his students. Exams can be kind of tricky, but overall, awesome course!!!
Hard prof, but this is still one of the classes where I actually learned the most. Go to class, take notes and you'll be fine.
He is NOT helpful and VERY RUDE to students!!!
Just finished stats with Prof. Junus - great course. He is very helpful and nice but can be short with whiney students like the hefty gals in the middle of the class who complained about how hard the course was - your in university, gals, not junior high.
I am not sure who the two disgruntled people are (they must have failed)BUT Prof. Junus is an easy going guy who is very helpful. I got an A+ in Psy 350 (Stats) from him. Junus gives a lot of work but you actually learn things in his class.
Brillant. Unfortunently assumes everyone else is too.
been going to smu for 3 yrs and he is my fave prof so far. you must attend class to do well. he makes you work for your mark and has mastery over his subject
He is not helpful at all! Listen in class if you want to do good on the tests! makes you feel like you are a hassel to him if you go for extra help!!!
A really good professor who seems to be passionate about his field. Lectures are interesting and the course work is challenging but not too difficult. You have to go to class because he does not put lecture notes on p-drive, that kinda sucks.
his lectures are ok but hes not very helpful and god help you if you miss a class. his tests are really hard and mostly on class stuff. i wouldnt take him again.
Prof Junus is great. He makes the course material enjoyable and I have learned a lot. Tests are not too hard if you go to class.
Brilliant man, keeps course material interesting, and very obviously knows his stuff. Make sure you NEVER miss a class, for ANY reason. He is completely unwilling to help with any aspect of this course. His tests contain a lot of in class references, attendance is key.
HE is a very smart man however he expects ALOT from his students. His disabilites class required 12hrs volunteer work outside of class time and his tests were also hard. If you are taking a course with Junus be ready to alot of studying!
Great class. Prof. Junus was a good prof and I learned a lot.
Great prof! Exams can be challenging, so keep on top of your work and never skip this class. Junus does an excellent job teaching the material and tries to keep it interesting. There are lots of bonus point opportunities too.
Excellent prof even though his studder is a little difficult to sit through sometimes. If you take this class you have to attend it everyday if you want to do well because 50% of the exam questions are from examples he uses.
Not a big fan. He is not a very good public speaker and seems to drag out the material. On the other hand he has good examples, videos and lets face it, the guy is smart. Ok class for your first or second year. get it out of the way early on so you can get the pre rec you need for later classes.
He is a master of the subject, and has very interesting examples of topic material to share with the class....however he is not very personable.
The guy is a jerk. Offers no help outside of class. He is rude and condicending. I don't recomend his classes to anyone. I was looking forward to the higher levels courses along the same line but he teaches them all. For your sake stay out of his classes.
He certainaly knows his stuff and teaches well. But he is very strict in class and this makes class a one-way lecture course than students interactig in class. Prof. Junus should lighten up a bit..
Overall a good course but rather hard for a psych course. Typical psych courses are easy, but Junus' are hard. If you want too learn, take his class. If you want a good mark, take someone else's class.
Junus is a smart man but an awful professor, he should stick to research. He will not give help he just tells you to read the book again. His exams are needlessly difficult. Unless you enjoy short answer, i suggest you take a different course.
Very interesteing course and he was agood prof. But the tests were really hard!!!
This prof. makes his test and exam EXTREMELY hard! There is just too much info. to remember and he thinks he makes his tests easy! I personally wished there was another course that I could have taken in place of this one. I wouldn't suggest to others to take ANY of his courses unless you want your GPA to drop!
I learned a lot but had to work my tail off to get an A. Midterm and final exams were very hard.COmpared to other psych courses, Junus' courses are too hard!!
HE is a good prof and prepares you for further psychology studies but he gets frustrated easily and can be a bit alof
his tests are the hardest test that i have EVER had to right in my wholeee life!! awful proff, not personal at all-doesn't care about students, likes to make his exams so long that way the students GPA's will suffer...don't take his course!!!
He is an Amazing prof. You definetly learn a lot however. His tests are fair but you need to know A LOT of information to do good on them. Do not take the course if you are not genuinely interested!!!
this prof is awesome!!! he makes the class fun and is very smart and helpful.
HORRIBLE. I'm an A student-I know this is university, but this guy is crazy-his classes are SO hard, and he expects WAY too much. It's nearly impossible to do well on his tests. He's also really impatient if you ask him for help, and is very unclear about lab instructions. If you don't mind working your ass off and having no life, take his classes.
Junus knows his stuff and is an excellent prof. He is very demanding but that is what you expect at an university level - to learn in depth, not at a high school level. The whiners are too comfortale with getting A's in bird courses. I am an A student and find this prof really challenges me and I learn a lot.
It's an interesting class and very detailed. I have gone to every class, done the work, study well, and yet I'm barely passing. Just to make everyone understand better, the midterm average was a 63 percent. That has got to tell you something. This class is brutal, even if you are a hard worker! DO NOT TAKE IT!
Great Prof. Very smart, I like his outline, he is not like other psychology profs where the marking sceem is 33% 33% 33% multiple choice. I suck at them and he actually gives pple a chance by having exams with short answers. Come on people dont be so lazy and do the work.
You have to go to this guys class!! And you have to listen! He will off hand talk about his friend or his home life, and then refer back to what he said on the test! His tests are long, and you have to read the book, and refer back to his lectures. Don't take ths class if you have a habit of skipping!
Interesting class, hardest 1000 level class i've ever taken, only got a good mark cuz I found it interesting. Not enough time to do tests, not flexible at all.I even heard him laughing about a question I asked after the final exam with his TA's when I was walking away.Talks down to people who ask questions, can't seem to understand not every1 has a Phd
No joke, the man is hard. But, he's a professional clinician who "actually" works in the field of disabilities and special needs, especially children. as a result, he's passionate about the subject material and he also wants to give u a solid foundation if u're going to work with ppl w/ a dis. or spec. needs. B prepared to study hard and get an A+
Very challenging course. Junus' teaches well but is has an intimidating personality and can be quite demanding.
Prof. Junus is very knowledgeable in the subjcet matter and shows a lot of passion which makes the information much more enjoyable and interesting to learn
hard class but you'll learn a lot from it if you put the work in.
The course is hard and Prof. Junus teaches it well. There is a lot of work but you learn a lot. Class attendance is a must. midterm and final were very long and hard. A lot of work for half credit. Take it if you like the course area - behavior problems of children.

This man is not only a psycology expert but a poet. He is swift as a bird and sly like a fox.
It was a really hard class. I found that he didn't really have the patience to give the students the extra help they needed. I worked really hard and only got B's. He only grades you on exams so if you don't do well on exams this class probably isn't for you
There was a lot of work, but Junus explained it all well. The book wasn't used (save for one multiple choice question on the mid-term).
He makes his tests twice as long as they need to be and doesn't give you enough time to do the test. He is not flexible at all! He has no desire to help students after class and is generally rude to them. He makes zero exceptions for ANYTHING. AND the guy is so pompous that he quotes himself in his powerpoint slides.
This was a first year course and the workload was ridiculous! Not helpful outside of class.
This course is hard for an intro psych class. Junus teaches it well and the course material is very interesting.
Class was interesting and you can apply it to everyday life but tests were hard. A lot of work for a 1000 level course in psychology, which are usually easy. Liked the videos and personal stories. Prof really knows his stuff.
the guy may be pompous and the class may be harder than most but this is university not high school. Agreed his classes are among the most difficult at SMU but still, people need to grow up and work.
There is no question Junus knows his stuff and he can be abrupt at times. I have always got A's in Junus classes but I had to work my tail off. But I have learned a lot. Attendance is mandatory and be prepared to do a lot of work; if you can't then DO NOT TAKE his classes.
Probably the best prof. at SMU no doubt. I have friends that have had him at DAL and also said he was amazing. Quiet honestly, the people who dont like him are the people who clearly should not be in university. period. end of story. good class! a lot of fun and i learned a lot!
He DEFINITELY knows what he is talking about, and (quite understandably)does not have the time for stupid questions. However, if you're questions are valid, there is no professor who is more helpful or knowledgeable about the subject matter...PERIOD
Junus makes it very clear on day 1 that in order to well all you have to do is go to class and ask for help when you need it. I did and got an A+. Others didn't & failed. If you pay attention in class and read the book, the tests are easy. The essay's long but bring it to him before the due date & he'll correct it so you can fix it & get full marks
BEST PROF. AT SMU BY FAR! Junus realy knows how to teach, and unlike other profs in Nova Scotia .. he actually has clinical experience with working with patients! Yes, this course is a little harder than other courses at SMU, but you will actually LEARN useful material from this course and I would have to say it is the best i've take by far!!!!
University does not have to be this hard. His methods course in spring session has 8 labs, 3 tests, term paper - all in 6 weeks. Ridicuosly hard!!!!! He maybe smart but easily gets frustrated and can be rude. He teaches as if he was in Harvard and forgets we are undergrads at SMU. I should have waited and taken th course from someone else.
Junus is very informative but very difficult. If you have a a heavy course load I do not recommend his class. But if you want are at university to learn, take his course. He has mad knowledge and skill and is a very talented lecturer and teacher. He wants you to learn and will help out to make sure you do any way he can.
Dr. Junus is THE BEST professor and he is so knowledgeable. He knows so much about psychology and has lots of clinical experience and has worked with many patients. Yes students, he is an incredibly hard marker...but what do you expect at the university level? Read your textbook and come to class to do well, otherwise...you're doomed.
Stumbles frequently when speaking. Does not put powerpoint notes on BLS so you must attend class everyday to take notes. He encourages students to speak in class but no one ever does. He is also a very hard marker and you must read through your text book throughly as he jumbles around at times in lecture. There is one essay at the end of the semest
A LOT of work. Probably the hardest course I ever took. I learned a lot but way too much work for 1/2 credit. Prof. Junus knows the area and is a pretty nice guy. Expects a lot from his students, and it is a lot of work!!!!!!
Extremely knowledgeable but makes class very hard. "Learning" was way too hard for an intro psyc class. Helpful if you go to see him. Sometimes hard to understand. Very strict and won't allow any leeway when it comes to work. Doesn't post notes so attendance is mandatory. A little intimidating
He's a hard prof. If you're interested in psychology and really want to learn, take it with him. If not, wait till someone else is teaching it cause it's haaaaaaaard.
Well, clearly the person who posted below got a bad mark in the class and is clearly upset lol! I thought PSYC2340 was hard, but very fair. Dr. Junus teaches at the University level and therefore people should expect to work hard to do well. I got an A and learned tons. Awesome prof
PHENOMENAL ! Best teacher I have ever had in my life! Enough said. Ps; if you show him that you're truly interested, he will help you in your work.
Quite unpersonable. I will never take another class with him again. He was unwilling to accomodate my learning styles and embarrassed me before the whole class. He's the rudest professor I've had (I'm in my 4th year). Whenever I had a question, he would send me to the TA instead of answering it himself.
People need to realize that this is UNIVERSITY, not highschool or community college. I have had Dr. Junus for several courses at SMU and every course was taught with passion, as he is very knowledgeable! I had to work hard for a good mark, but I was very challenged and feel like I am now ready for graduate level psychology because of him! great pro
great prof, nice guy, and knows a lot about clinical psychology through experience. the course was pretty cool
He is the best psych prof at SMU. He is very knowledgeable, fair, and a good instructor. He makes you earn your grade - and he doesn't play favorites. I took every course that he taught. Love this prof!
Prof. Junus is an excellent prof. Other psyc profs could learn a thing or two from this guy; he not only is approachable and friendly, but he teaches extremely well and knows the material really well!
He is a very nice professor. i took him this summer for Research Method and even though it was a hard condensed class but between him and his TA Tessa they were awesome in helping me with research proposal and course work. he is a good prof
