DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!
she is from a foreign country, so a little difficult to understand sometimes. she repeats herself constantly & often gives incorrect information. her test have answer choices that are incorrect. the only grades are three tests & hmwk grades (all online), no extra credit. never gives straightforward answers to questions. nice lady but poor teacher
Nice personality, very thick accent, hard to understand. 12 online hw assignments, rarely used book, total grade based on 5 things (best 2 of 3 exams, final exam, lab grade, & hw) exams: 20 questions. never went to class bc her lectures never reflected the exams. if you study and do your homework on your own you can achieve an A or B.
She's a nice lady. Her tests are okay. Bad part is her lectures don't make sense...you'll come out of her class memorizing theories instead of understanding them...
Nice lady. very helfull
What a wonderful instructor! Prof. Jaafari is kind, thoughtful, and considerate. Also, I feel like I really UNDERSTAND Astronomy :) She's animate and brings life to this subject! I would definitely, DEFINITELY take another course w/ her!!!
Poor time management of covering chapters when it came to the test dates. I.E, when she finished lecturing over chapter 16 and 17, the exam was not until another week or two. "Reviews" are just going over the homework with confusing layouts (# are different when using Word, Pages or Textedit) and inconsistent file formats, and confusing ppt.
She is a very good teacher, very helpfule. You just need to attend her lectures, do the Homework and you will pass with high grade.
She's a very good lecturer, just not about astronomy. She tends to talk about physics instead. Also, her assigned homework is a mess. There's bound to spelling errors, strange numbering, no superscripts, just anything that could make it difficult to understand. It's called proofreading.
No need to attend class you can figure out the test just by doing the homework. She is very difficult to understand and never gives the right answers. PPTs are super confusing and pointless. The only way I got through this class was searching online for all of the homework answers and then memorizing them for the tests.
Very helpful teacher. She tries her best to teach the students and drive them to learn. However, she assigns difficult homework but her exams are reasonable. Take her class.
Very demanding teacher but fair. I learned a lot.
DON'T BUY THE TEXT BOOK. Class lectures are useless, just do the homework and memorize the answers. Her exams are straight from the HW.
Terrible! You will not learn anything about astronomy! She teaches BASIC physics the whole time. She repeats lectures. Attendance is mandatory.
Nice lady but class is extremely disorganized, she rambles, doesn't prepare us for her hard tests (which are NOT strictly from the homework), doesn't have good control of her class, lots of talking. I would not recommend.
Honestly, I got an A in the class, since it was fairly easy. Exam questions were from the HW and the classes themselves were boring. I recommend this class if you want an easy grade, but she is complicated. Barely knows how to use Blackboard and sometimes forgets what she is talking about. She is a physics teacher so Astronomy isn't her forte.
She is a good teacher and very helpful when I needed an answer. I liked her lectures and the excitement she brings to the subject.
One of the worst disorganized teachers that I have had in a very long time. Please do not take this teacher. None of the homeworks match up with the quizes and tests. Everything is basically a free for all. The majority of the information cannot be found in the book either. Good luck
She is a good and fair teacher. I would recomend her to my friends
VERY disorganized, doesn't plan ahead well, & very very confusing when she lectures
Literally the WORST prof ever. She does NOT know poo about Astronomy, nor does she apparently know how to teach. English is poor, therefore her reviews/tests/notes are hard to understand. DO NOT TAKE HER unless you want to be utterly frustrated in her class or if you want your GPA lowered. She's stated her test avg's were around 60%.
Very good teacher, I like her. Take her class.
She is a very kind teacher, but some of the students interpert it as weeknes. She has her own styleof teaching where she pushes students to do some research. She also tries to be fair in gradeing I liked the presentation formats it did prepare ae for my future carrier and tought me a lot about astronomy. Thanks Dr. Jaafari
Very kind, understand the subject very well. Divided the class into groups for presentations, we hated in the beginning but it turned out to be one of the best learning experience for me and my friends. I like her and recommend taking her class. I really enjoyed it.
Next semester, I am taking Astr 1446 course with Dr. Jaafari. She is one of the best. She is clear, helpful, flexible and understand the material. Most of all gives extra points attendance.
I like Dr. Jaafari. Very kind helpful teacher. She helped me understand the book material but most of all, enjoyed Astronomy.
She is not a bad teacher but not a very good teacher either. The class is incredibly easy (if you do the homework). The tests are made from the homework she gives out. Also, if you show up to class you get extra points on your tests.
Dr. Jaafari was one of the best teachers I dealt with. Was organized, fair but most of all very helpful.
She is very smart person, kind and helpful. Has a clear structured syllabus. Learned so much in Astronomy. I enjoyed her class, thanks Dr. Jaafari.
A great professor. The tests and homework are both conceptual and problems. If you pay attention to her lectures, you should be very fine. She's friendly and helpful. I took both physics with her.
I loved astronomy after her class. Made it exciting and easy to understand. She assigned presentations which helped me a lot to understand even more. Her tests are easy if you do and study the homeworks.
Wounderfule teacher. Kows her stuff kind and approachable. She is willing to help you understand material if you don''t get it. Always engages the students in every lecture topic. Im taking her for 1346 for spring.
One of the best professor. She knows what she''s talking about in Astronomy and Physics . Hws are simple straight from the book. Tests are all from HWs. Just attend and you should do fine. Love Dr. Jaafari''s lectures.
I just want to come to her class. She makes everything interesting and relevant. How astronomy is related to our lives She made that connection. I have learned a lot thanks Dr. Jaafari
Dr. Jaafari is a good teacher knows her material well. Kind and helpful. Her weekly lesson plan helps me stay on track. I am taking Astronomy part 2 with her.
Great professor.
Dr. Jaafari is a good teacher. Do your HWs then should be ready for the tests. She is professional, kind and organized. I am taking her Astro 1346 next semester.
Dr. jaafari is good teacher. She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. She keeps engaging with the class. Her tests are easy if you do all HWs. I truly enjoyed her class.
Dr. Jaafari is a good teacher, I learned so much astronomy. I loved the subject due to her approach to Astronomy. Doing HWs helped for the tests. She organizes the course progress by the weekly lesson plan.
Dr. Jaafari seems to be very eager to try and help the students. I liked her lectures and the flow of the course.
I think Dr. Jaafari knows and enjoys astronomy. The idea of class presentations is a good one and we all benefited from. If you ask Dr. Jaafari for help, she is more than willing to help. I like that she is always cheerful and smiling.
I like Dr. Jaafari and her lectures. I don't want to say she an easy teacher but a good teacher, flexible and helpful. What I like most about her that our opinion matters to her and she adjusts accordingly.
I think Dr. Jaafari is very kind and wants best for the class. She is very intelligent and knows the content.
Dr. Jaafari is very passionate about astronomy. She always comes in positive and happy. I would have to sit through the lecture that involves discussion because I think she could make it interesting. I am taking her Astro 1346.
I Like Dr. Jaafari, she is a good thoughtful teacher. She is a helpful fair teacher. Learned a lot of Astronomy during the semester. What I liked most about this class, the presentatios and the tests , just study the HWs questions to prepare for the exams, no surprises.
I have to say Dr. Jaafari an understanding person. She is a really good teacher and mentor. Her focus is on the students and their learning.
I enjoyed Dr. Jaafari's Astronomy class. She is effective in communicating with her students. She persistently states the schedule in her Emails and on Blackboard. I also like that our Homeworks and the presentation are maintainable. But what I like most is that The tests questions are similar to the HWs questions.
Dr Jaafari is very understanding and that is a quality I really appreciate in professors. I am a visual person, the clips she posts along with the planetarium shows are helpful when it comes to learning new things and those shows have been very informative and interesting.
I like Dr. Jaafari's lectures. She was open minded to what the students have to say. She is very concerned with how we feel in her class, which it feels great to have a professor worry about the students.
Dr. Jaafari is a passionate knowledgeable professor. Every time before we start with the class, she always likes to keep us informed about what is coming up next. She tries to make the chapters material easier for us to learn. I feel like she really has the best interest of her students and not her own. I really enjoyed her class.
I like Dr. Jaafari and her lectures. She is organized and patient. She tried hard to make it interesting and exciting with lots of pictures and clips. However, we all had to study hard for tests. The good part was most of the tests questions were off the homeworks. I am taking her Atsr 1346 next semester.
Kind professor who truly cares for her students. Patient and has a class. Her Hws are tough but tests are mostly similar to HWs questions. She posts our weekly lessons plan Bb, which help us all keep track of everything. I am learning a lot of astronomy from her lectures as well as the Planetarium shows. Lovely teacher.
Even before the end of the semester, I must say, Dr. jaafari made this course one of the best I have taken so far. She is knowledgeable of the stuff she is teaching, communicates effectively with her students, but most of all, she is a thoughtful considered teacher. All my respect to Dr. Jaafari.
The course was really hard to comprehend but Dr. Jaafari went to our speed to deliver it to the students in simple terms. She did a great job making it relevant.
Great professor. Her lectures really helped me better learn the material. She kept us engaged in lecture. She made sure to ask us questions and interacted with us. PowerPoint were helpful to prepare for tests as well as home work
She is a good listener and responsive to her students. She was able to bridge the gap between theory concepts and practical information, that what I most liked about her. Besides she has that nice smile and positive attitude.
Dr. Jaafari class is exciting. She turned Astronomy to fun subject by using pictures and clips. The presentations helped me understand it even more. You have to read from the book and do the Home works. Her tests questions are from the homework that helped a lot. I did not like the quizzes but I made an A in her class.
Took her class twice. She was good, knew her material. In both classes she asked for Homeworks with so many questions but all her tests questions were directly from Home work questions which I liked. She was using clips to help us understand some difficult concepts. The lab was the difficult part but she did not teach it. I reaenjoyed her class.
I took her physics I (calculus based) class as a basic course for engineering. The lab that accompanied the course taught me more than she did. Consistently hard to understand because she learned physics in Arabic. It's not the accent that's hard- it's her inability to communicate properly. I had to teach myself the material and go by common sense.
Dr. Jaafari is an involved and invested instructor here at TCU. She tries her very best to ensure that every student understands the core concepts in the introductory physics courses, so expect that the course can progress slowly at times. However, she tries to meet every student half-way by giving them opportunities to recover and succeed.
I took cal physics I with Dr. Jaafari at TCU, it was a hard course but she broke it down to simplify it. She gave examples during the lectures some were on the tests. She gave three tests but dropped the lowest one which helped tremendously. I liked the pre tests quizzes as extra credit. However the Online Homework was confusing. good teacher
Dr. Fajer is a wonderful teacher. She makes you actually understand Astronomy and love it. She lets you question everything you knew though, amazing!!. Still you have to work for your grade. I like the HWs and tests, not complicated. Just participate, study the slides and watch the movies then you are ok. Love this professor!
Dr. Jaafari has a great knowledge in astronomy and she shows her passion for astronomy as well as her passion for teaching it. She loves when people ask questions or participate. Expect homework at least one every week, but they are not hard. You take 3 exams and a final and she will drop the lowest exam grade. Over all, an easy class to take.
As long as you show up and take notes, do the homework, and study you'll make an easy A. A lot of her test questions come from the homework. All multiple choice. Sometimes she even has planetarium visits for the class, which is fun! If you're looking for an easy science credit this is it.
Dr. Jaafari is a very sweet lady, but her lectures were almost intolerable. She jumps around A LOT, and students who have little knowledge of astronomy will be very lost! The questions for the quizzes, homework, and tests are often poorly worded and the answer choices were VERY similar. It made it very difficult to answer them correctly!
She goes over information that is on her slides so just listen. It's not really critical to take notes. Her in class quizzes (iClicker) are tough though, so you should actually listen to her. Don't sweat the online homework/tests, if you don't know the answers, it's very likely they are on quizlet (use the find function in Google) HW helps studying
Easy A because all homework and test answers can be found on quizlet. Her in-class quizzes are pretty ridiculous but don't sweat it because as long as you're present for ALL, get A's on your homework and tests, you'll be just fine. It's boring but you don't need to pay attention. I suggest bring other homework to keep yourself occupied. No textbook
Dr. Jaafari knows the material but she is just very unorganized ABOUT EVERYTHING! Her lectures are confusing and hard to sit through. She also gives quizzes for attendance but the questions are confusing and hard to answer. An A is possible with the homework and exams because all answers can be found in the textbook or online.
Great teacher loved her both classes
You must attend all her lectures and pay attention, study her slides carefully . Doing that and watching all interesting clips I passed with an A. Sometimes, she is hard to understand but is open to explain. Exams and HWs are multiple choice some are difficult but she drops the lowest test grade. The best part is thfinal recycling of HWs questions
Truly an amazing teacher. No boring moments. The discussions she brings to the class is interesting. I love the clips. I am enjoying this course Her slides are good to study and prepare for Homeworks and Tests. The Hws are not difficult at all. But even the tests are similar to HW questions but with are more difficult. I am making an A so far.
Sharp and knowledgeable, sometimes she discusses an interesting weird Astronomy topics and sometimes talks about things above our level of understanding but in a cool way. Her tests are easy but the quizzes are tough and confusing. I am planning to take her Astro 1346. I l enjoy her class, she is an interesting teacher and fun
Although her PP slides are filled with info, reading the book is a huge supplement. She posts homework for credit and very random Clicker quizzes. Her exams are about 50 questions and are timed. The homework is 50 questions and not timed. If you do all your homework assignments, pass your online exams, and do well on your final, no reason to fail.
She's a terrible teacher who is very unorganized and can't teach at all. It takes her 2 classes to solve for a linear system of 2 equations in this intro to physics class. Dont be fooled by taking the positive reviews that was all made up by her(same pattern). Terrible instructor. Please take someone else if you want to learn and do well.
all i have to say is EVERYTHING IS ON QUIZLET !! :)
I loved taking her physics 1 class and am now taking her physics 2 class. She really tries her best to be engaged with the students and make the material accessible. She is also very helpful and responds to emails pretty quickly. She obviously has a lot of work she's balancing, but I think she's a genuine person and an encouraging teacher.
Her lectures are a bit confusing, but she gave us a packet of questions and answers to study and chose fifty to put on the test, study those it will be a breeze. She gives clicker quizzes in class, posts a few discussions and planetarium shows that bring your grade up, and one group presentation. It's an easy class if you turn in all of your work.
Try not to fall asleep. Just talks and shows Youtube videos. Tells you the lesson plan for next week so you know when to come for quizzes and tests. Four tests, gives you questions and answers before hand but gives 200 and only uses 50. Two tests were online, all answers on quizlet. Has a few discussions that you read to the class (if you come).
STEER CLEAR. Jafaari was extremely unclear of her expectations for assignments but would take late assignments. Attendance is not mandatory but there are some in class iClicker quizzes. She was hard to understand and not helpful at all when someone would ask her a question in or out of class.
I love Dr. Jaafari! I was skeptical to take her class at first but Im so glad I did. Theres absolutely no homework, only like 5 discussion posts throughout the semester. Also the tests are online, except the final (she gives us the questions and answers for us to study). She is such a doll, I wish I could take her class again.
I absolutely love Dr. Jaafari!!! She is one of the sweetest professors I have ever had. The textbook is not needed as her slides which are on blackboard are from the book. There are 3 tests and a final. She drops the lowest test grade and gives lots of extra credit. She gives you the answers to the tests, just study and you will have an easy A.
While she's a really nice prof and really cares about her students' learning, her lectures are largely pointless. You learn so much more in the Lab and she doesn't really teach you anything, she just gets stuck on certain topics and spends a lot of time showing videos that aren't even educational. She's a wonderful lady but not a good teacher.
Lectures are worthless but you can't skip because she has daily quizzes. She ends up showing useless videos on YouTube. Her tests are hard because, although she gives review questions, she will give 175 review questions and choose 50 of those questions. Oh and by the way, most of the questions are over material she has never talked about. Horrible.
This is my second semester taking Dr. Jaafari for Astronomy. She worked very diligently to make sure that her students were successful. Her tests are online and they are in lock-down browser (No Webcam). She is very accessible out side of class and responds back to emails quickly. She has a clear interest in the subject. I will miss her class!!
Had Fajer for Physics and let me tell you, she is the most personal professor I've ever had. Will explain things to you 100 times if you say you don't get it. Do the HW and study guides and you will pass EASY. Kept things interesting with videos during class. Lover her!!!!
Dr. Jaafari is a great prof to take. She is very kind and a has a really funny personality. Shes very understanding and is always willing to help if you dont understand something. If youre thinking about taking one of her classes, you definitely should!
REALLY PASSIONATE PROFESSOR!! you do not get to meet lots of those now a days! Would highly recommend taking your class to any of my friends who have to take physics.
Really good professor for physics. Quiz over each chapter and the tests are really similar to the quizzes. She goes over main topics in class but definitely read the book. Homework is tough, a lot harder than exams. Grading scale is really helpful - midterms only 30% total. More conceptual questions than calculations, so go to class!
Even though attendance is not required but if you attend her class she will do her best to help. Dr. Jaafari one of the best professors I ever had. Teaches with passion and gives lots of examples and extra credit. She gave me many chances extending the HWs. If she teaches the second part I will take her again.
Physics is hard but professor Jafarri made it simple and clear. She was always available when I had a question. Physics is definitely not my strongest subject but I earned an A due to her many examples and solving problems. I enjoyed all her lectures. I would take her again and again.
Lectures are fun. Dr. Jaafari explains and shows interesting videos on YouTube. Love the discussion part but you need to memorize the Tests questions to make high grades. She requires us to present topics as teams, it was fun but lots of prep. Very helpful professor!
Seemed to never understand that the majority of students in her class have little to no background in physics. Always treated us like physics majors. Tests and quizzes never reflected homework or lecture. Quizzes and tests often had typos and/or incorrect answer keys. Would only give back credit when asked. Do NOT take her course.
She is awesome! She takes time to explain difficult topics and she really cares about your grade. If you attend her lectures, she gives out extra credit points if you are one of the first to answer her question. She also gives an extra credit assignment to further boost your grade.
Professor Jaafari is not the best lecturer after the switch to online class, but she is very caring and will accommodate for her students as much as possible. Tests are only 40% of your grade, so this helps a lot. Quizzes are open notes as well and represents the exams! She gives a good amount of extra credit as well.
I took her Physics 2 class for summer and it was not that bad. She did a live lecture going over a few concepts but did not follow with the power points provided. She did not go over many math problems but did fully explain 1 or 2 questions that would help with homework assignments and quizzes. She is a nice professor that will help you pass.
We had to switch to online due to the virus, however, she is a really understanding professor. she allowed me to boost my grade last minute with some extra credit assignments and she is extremely quick to respond to her emails. I would take her again and focus strongly on what she is trying to teach us. I would 100% recommend it to anyone starting.
The kindest and sweetest soul ever. She is so caring and really wants her students to succeed. She provides so many extra credit opportunities. Quizzes can be challenging if you dont know the material but I definitely learned a lot. I personally never used the book.
You will need a little bit of prior physics knowledge but khan academy helps a lot! She is VERY understanding of her students when it comes to due dates. Overall lovely person. I will miss her! :)
Dr. Jaafari is a very good professor. If you took AP Physics in high school, this class will be a breeze. She sometimes overcomplicates simple concepts, but maybe that's my bias because I'm pretty good at physics already. Offers extra credit on the exam if you review thermodynamic chapters. Homeworks aren't hard, if you're having trouble google it.
I had professor Jaafari for ASTR 1346 online asynchronous. There's reading assignments due every week (no time limit so plenty of time to complete), biweekly discussion posts and exams on lockdown browser w/ webcam. Make sure to study thoroughly for the exams as there are questions here & there that focus on the tiniest details of the textbook.
This is a self-study class. Dr. Jaafari is a kind person but her lectures consist of skimming over concepts and teaching general physics instead of calc-based. This would be off-putting for tests because you weren't used to the difference, and she'd often take up class working on one problem. Overall an okay class if you put in the work.
Shes a nice lady but teaching isn't for everyone. Her lectures are everywhere, and her time management is terrible. She doesn't give enough examples. She does give extra credit but I don't recommend her class if you have no physics background.
Honestly, I dont know what I am doing taking this professor. Shes terrible, Avoid at all cost.
Professor is nice, but poor time management for MWF, 1 hr, classes. I dropped after about 3 weeks, after she took up to 20 minutes after the scheduled time to begin the lecture and then kept going on an important topic at least 10 minutes after the scheduled end time. Avoid her sections if you do not have a strong physics background.
Truly a nice and caring professor. Her grading policy is very generous as well: 25% hw and lab each - fairly easy to do but take caution. Takes best of 2 of 3 midterms. Downsides are: her lectures are nightmarish, notes presentations are almost useless to go by; takes too long to explain concept/question; expect to mostly SELF STUDY
I would not recommend her class to my worst enemy. Just avoid her at all cost if you are unlucky get the textbook that shes using is it called Giancoli, read it by yourself and solve the problems. Going to her class would leave you more perplexed.
She isn't the worst physics professor. You will manage to at least pass the class if you try. She tries to make her lecture interesting but they are hard to understand. She is very lenient with due dates and gives a lot of extra credit
accommodating, but not really in a good sense (will change due dates with no warning and is very bad at sending out alerts). she gets distracted easily and tends to go on tangents, so the class is pretty much self-taught. if you're pre-med or don't have a good foundation in physics (or just want to stay sane) stay the hell away from her class.
She does not know how to teach the concepts of this course. Most classes she would just go on tangents and start class as soon as it was about to end, then proceed to hold us over 20+ minutes to teach. She constantly repeats the exact same concepts without giving examples to make it make sense.
She is a really friendly and helpful professor and put so much efforts to make the class enjoyable.
She offers plenty of extra credit. Her lectures can be very scattered, and honestly I stopped going after a few weeks. Her tests are pretty hard, but they come right from the digitral textbook. A very sweet lady and very knowledgable!
Not good at teaching. Tangets. Lectures were bad and the topics were poorly explained :(
All exams online except final. Her lectures…. Useless to go to in my opinion and the class just kept getting emptier and emptier. Her final was pretty hard and average was in the 50's. I really wanted to take her to help with the MCAT but she is not the right professor to take if you actually want to learn something.
Professor Jaafari is a nice lady, but her teaching style leaves much to be desired. The lectures can be disorganized, and the textbook is often more helpful than going to class. Luckily, resources like Unstuck AI can supplement the course material.
I absolutely LOVED Dr. Jaafari. I think she is amazing, and so kind and understanding. She wants you to be able to understand the material and will work with you if you don't understand. She gives ample opportunity for extra credit IF you apply yourself to it. If you fail this class, in my opinion, it is your own fault. She provides so much help!
Dr. Jaafari is the best professor at UTA. She gives tons of extra credit opportunities and her class is divided up into 4 tests. 3 of which can be taken online 1 in person (the final). If you look at the study sheets a week before tests then you will get an A.
Ms. Jaafari is very nice, but wow I never taken a class where the teacher is so unorganized. She will not allow you to take notes saying "you need to pay attention to me" but you really don't since the 4 tests she gives you are on LockDown Browser. The Test review are already filled out but each test has 250 review questions with only 50 on test.
Dr. Jafaari is a nice teacher shes very sweet and gives A LOT of extra credit. However I would be lying if I said I learned from her class.. goes on tangents..
nice teacher, you will be able to pass if you just try.
Honestly best professor this semester. She's super nice and helpful.
She is a very nice lady who offers lots of extra credit. So much so I received a failing grade on an exam and it went up to over a 100. Her lectures are awful. She repeates the same information over and over again. Has little to no practice problems. You will be a month behind the other professors. Her lectures are so bad I sometimes leave and cry
Is a month behind the other physics professor. Needs to give 40 points of extra credit per student to have a normal curve. Lectures are the worst lectures I've ever experienced and some days she just repeats her entire confusing terrible lecture a second day in a row. Which is why we are so behind the rest of the department. Avoid at all costs.
Just pick her. You won't regret it. I picked her for fall 2025, and I think it is the best decision I ever made. She genuinely wants all her students to pass, and is extremely nurturing as well. There Is also ALOT of extra credit opportunity. And only 2 of your best midterm grades are counted. All MCQ questions throughout the course as well!
we spent a week and a half learning how to add vectors. (Something we almost never had to do) and we spent 40 minutes going over simple harmonic motion (the most difficult unit) which was 1/5th of our final exam. We also completely missed the entire last unit and spent 0 time ever going over it. Horrible time management, the worst lectures.
Very kind and gives the most extra credit out of any class I've ever had. I didn't find her lectures very helpful for exams, but she posts every possible question and answer on her study guides, so you'll be fine as long as you study them. The few assignments outside of those are also very easy. I'd recommend if you don't mind attending lectures!
Very forgiving grading with the tests. Also is very passionate about students being able to learn in the classroom. Wants engagement and offers a ton of extra credit for it. Also is very funny
