Professor Wan is my FAVOURITE professor! She has this strange fixation with powerpoints and her humour is too cute. Just understand the cases and you should be fine. She is also one of the prettiest profs in management
fang wan is literally the best professor at the uofm..! THE BEST!!! her flamboyent energy keeps you awake early in the morning. the way she jumps and hops around is awesome too! =) ALSO, she dresses SOOOO nice!
An amazing prof!! Knows how to make the class both fun and interesting!! I loved going to her class and she helps you learn the material! She is great!
She's all over the place and SO unclear. You leave class not knowing WHAT you were supposed to have just learned. She's really nice, but you can't take notes and she jumps all voer the place when discussing cases! Ack!

The best prof. in Asper!Enjoy the fun class and Mrs Wan's pretty dresses!Take this course with her, you will find how wonderful she is!
Amazing prof. Brilliant, approachable and so good looking!! It's a real pleasure to have the sexiest prof. of Asper in class!!
Very nice, intelligent prof w/ good sense of style. Is passionate about mktg, likes talking & those who participate in discussions. Unfortunately lectures have very little to no structure, so hard to take notes/hard to study notes that were taken. No idea what to expect on exams. Many cases to read
A great professor! If you don't read your cases, you would not be able to participate in this class. Then, note taking would be difficult because you did not know the material. I found the class very interesting, structured and helpful because I always read the cases before class!
Simply, the best professor you will ever have.
Amazing prof! The best prof by far that I've ever had. She has some great humor, and is always dressed so classy. She is such a helpful prof, and likes it when you participate ALOT in class. Make sure to read the cases, and participate in class, and you're set!.....she made the class so interesting!
Excellent Prof! Best Ever!
Horrible prof! No structure to her classes, no explanations of topics, useless and overpriced text, $100 of photocopying (mostly useless) and impossible exams, STAY AWAY!! DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASSES WITH HER!!!
Yes, the lectures have limited structure but following isn't very difficult. Her courses are for more experienced students. First and second year students probably couldn't handle her.
best prof ever, she is tough, but I have never learnt as many useful things in any other course as I have in hers... she is most definitely worth the extra work.
Simply the best!
Amazing prof! Just make sure you read every case before you come to class and you will be fine! She won't fail you easily.
She's a really interesting person, you need to pay attention and show up to every class. Loves her starbucks. Read every case before class or you'll fail, but she doesn't fail anyone so all in all you're set. LIkes participation, easy marks! Highly recommended!!
One of my favorite profs in Drake. Probably the nicest person you'll ever meet, always smiling and has some interesting stories. I really learned alot about different cultures from her and overall her class was very interesting. I would definetly take a class with her again. A+ prof
She is a very challenging prof but you will learn from her. Just make sure your READ EVERYTHING she tells you to. Class is fun and seems to go by so fast. I would definitely have her at least once if your a marketing major!! What's Starbuck's core competency???
what can I say, she is so energetic all the time, very interesting class. many materials to read, but u'll know they become useful one day
BEST PROFESSOR EVER. I TOOK THIS 2 YEARS AGO AND I STILL MISS HER CLASSES.
Simply the best! don't know why she always appear in my dream. so pretty and intelligent
She is extremely supportive, willing to help students even if she is very busy. Very enthusiastic professor. As long as you follow the instruction, you'll be fine. What I'v gotten from her class is not only grade, but spirit. She is the person that would tell you the truth and help you improve. In her class, everyday is a happy journey! a joy trip!
I can't tell you how much I disliked this class and this prof. First of all her class notes are incomprehensible. She draws diagrams that are useless and impossible to follow. She expects class participation, but the minute you open your mouth she interrupts you and tells you that you are wrong. Only uses fashion companies for examples =very boring
Do not go to her and expect to get a straight answer. She has an idea in her head but she can not communicate it to you. Hard to relate to the copious fashion companies she uses as examples. She is Rude. She chooses favorites. Embarrassing when she interrupts guest speakers. She claims that this class has a low deliverable but she is wrong.
Fang Wan is the most passionate instructor I have taken in Asper (and the best dressed, she comes to class in full CHANNEL outfits). Some Asper students complain about her b/c she doesn't design her courses with multiple-choice exams. 100% of the courses are Harvard or Ivy League case studies. She never uses the text and brings in about 10 big busi
I really like the way the class is made up with the use of case studies, and her exams are simple. But I did not care for her personally. Her teaching style is quite different from what I am used to. But if you can put up with her the class is pretty good.
What an honor to be her student!! Her class is meant for motivated student. She passionately discussed branding cases every class that I was mesmerized by the richness and depth of this class. Sure, if you are trying to fit her into the multiple- choice textbook-based lecture style, you will be disappointed! We are lucky to have her here.
The best professor ever@@
I took her branding class as the last one before I graduated. It turned out to be such a worthy experience!! She invited local companies to be clients of the final projects. We got to work with real branding issues. It was stressful but fun!!! She is fun, knowledgeable. I will recommend her class to anyone who has passion in branding.
The BEST prof ever! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Very passionate about what she teaches. Her teaching style is unique which makes a learning process a lot easier and faster. Great sense of humor. Very helpful outside of classroom. Very, very fair. Gives to opportunities to earn extra marks, so u can't do bad ;)
Not a class for someone who is only semi interested in marketing. So if you are not a marketing major I would not waste my time. Class was easy but irritating. Hard to follow class notes. Lastly, I could not stand the prof always bragging about her house in Royalwood and all her fancy clothes. Who Cares!
Very alternative learning experience. She poured her heart into the topic she is teaching. We are very lucky to have her. Final project is about brand consulting of a real business. Learning curve is very steep. She used personal approach to illustrate brand story. She is the last person you will call irritating.
Average at best. If you like case studies this is a good class, if not this class is not for you. Can not say that I really learned something what I consider valuable. She chooses favourites.
Her teaching is mesmerizing. Need more professor like her! Passionate and fun!
One of the best!
Make sure that you read the cases. Then you get the most out of her amazing style. She is simply the best!
She is not just teaching. She is inspiring. Use her class to discover brands. And yourself. She is simply the best!!!!!
No one can tell brand stories like she does. Witty, fun, humorous, insightful. I look forward to every class.
Average quality at best. However it is clear she has a following as this is the third time I have attempted to give her a below average rating. My reviews keep getting removed because the students who love her flag it. She should not be allowed to teach.
I took her branding course in the summer. Simply an amazing prof. Her lecture style is an energetic, engaging, two-way dialogue which includes the occassional f-bomb. She's the most unique prof in Asper. Great chance to improve your public speaking. Almost all work is group work. You've got to put in the effort, but she makes it easy to stay moti
TERRIBLE!!!!!!
One of the worst profs I have had. She constantly shows up late. the class lacks structure and nothing is taught by her, she just rambles on and on about random companies with no real meaning.
Absolutley useless!! I can not beleive she is permitted to teach. Hard to understand and her classes completley lack any structure. It was embarassing to be her student.
Very rude, always interupts student presentations to add her own 2 cents. Rushes presentations if she does not alocate enough time for class.
Took her class in the summer, as a person I think she is great but as a professor... I really got nothing of value out of the class. Not worth taking a class with her.
Professor Wan was the biggest letdown of a professor I have ever experienced. I have read many positive reviews of her on this site, however she fell extremely short of expectations. Me and six of my friends are all marketing majors and took her class this fall. She is an extremely terrible professor who does not add any value to her classes.
am very inspired by her class. It was one of the best summer I spent reading cases and presenting them and learning from her.
her class is very thought provoking. and not everyone's cup of tea. i enjoyed tremendously. after branding in summer, am back to take international marketing with her.
Professor Wan is THE most inspiring person i have ever had the opportunity of meeting. She has a beautiful, inspiring attitude that transfers passion of her world in branding to students. She is a master in her field and those lucky enough to take her class will leave with a new perspective of the future of business (it's a branded world after all)
Without a doubt the best professor I have ever had. I have been making my way through business school being extremely bored and unhappy with my faculty choice. Dr Wan opened my mind to the fact that business is a vast and interesting field. Can't wait to take her branding class. I highly recommend her!
Fantastic Professor who goes beyond memorizing unimportant case facts to teach you a style of thinking. An expert in personal branding. Students who want to learn and push themselves will gain a lot of valuable lessons.
Personally I was not engaged or even very interested with they way in which Ms. Wan conducted her class. While I do commend her for her vast amounts knowledge in the marketing profession, I believe she could have passed this knowledge onto students in a more effective manner. Many times I found her speeches too long causing a lack of attentiveness.
Best prof ever! So nice and helpful. If you make an effort to talk in class you'll get an A or A+ for sure. By far my favourite prof ever!
I took branding. by far one of the best, most engaging, fashionable and inspirational proffs i have ever had! i suggest you take her class only if you are actually interested in business/marketing, cause its definitely not an easy A, lots of work! but if you speak up in class so she knows your name you will do great and learn a lot! i loved it!
Bad teacher. Makes up something new and just rambles from topic to topic. Her course is not fact based so it is impossible to study. Content is all based on HER opinion of what brand "DNA" is. It changes from class to class as she makes up more garbage out of thin air. Her whole class is based on selling her book called the Brand Triangle...
One of the best profs I have ever had. She may be unstructured but she actually made you think outside the box for once. Really engaged students to participate. If you came to class prepared and participated in every session, you would get a good grade! Plus, she's hot.
Professor Wan has many ratings. Students are bipolar--either love or hate. This means she is out of box kind of person--for those who seek for innovative, interesting course and an inspiring professor. I had no expectation before I took her course but I was blown away by her wealth of knowledge and passion. She taught you how to think. Amazing prof
Most amazing prof ever. For myself, learn a lot and also study hard to finish every task, no matter reading or presentation. The final project is a big challenge but learned something really helpful in my university life. Never miss one single class, because they are way more than fun.
Amazing prof! Just make sure you read every case before you come to class! you will learn lots of useful knowledge for your future.
Amazing prof! Learn a lot in this course!Just make sure you read every case before you come to class!
the most entertaining professor at Asper.
My worst professor so far, unorganized, the class is not consistent, not in the office during the office hours, no help, no feedback, tough marker. Pushes her own opinion. Will never take it again with her. However, she is very passionate about marketing which is good. I did not like that she thinks everyone needs to teach only her way. Not again
The difficulty with this professor is that she is extremely subjective. While a subjective approach makes sense to content, it should not effect grades--which it does. I would not recommend her for the following reasons: lectures are long and difficult to follow, no technology policy, no feedback on assignments and tests, absent during final exam.
one of the best professors in Asper
If you need stability and structure this is not the prof for you. She operates spontaneously and on her own schedule. However; Dr. Wan has incredible insight, feedback, and the ability to see qualities in you that you do not see in yourself. She encourages students to have a voice and to agreed/disagree with her and to THINK for yourself.
I find it hard to learn from someone who doesnt seem to care about her students. Wouldnt take her class again.
The worst professor Ive had so far. Rude, just rude.
The entire course is based on case readings and book excerpts (which are expensive). There is little to no structure to the int. mkt. course and basically she just rants and draws pictures that don't make sense for an hour or so before ending classes early. Tests/quizzes are only based on readings. Typical Asper group project/presentation criteria.
She brags about the dropout rate of her class being high and thinks it's because it's a hard course for "smart" people only but really it's just a lot of readings, quizzes, and her presentation style is unorganized and intolerable. If you value notes, structure, and powerpoints, do NOT take this international marketing course with her.
Professor Fang's international marketing and branding classes were challenging yet among the most rewarding Asper classes I have taken. Her non traditional lecture style made me think outside of the box and appreciate a fast paced learning environment. Spending three weeks in her two classes taught me to push myself and will have a lifelong impact
Awesome teacher. COMPLETELY FABULOUS. Helped me learn so much.
AWESOME! She helped me A-LOT. Her lectures make my think out of the box. She is very passionate about her job.
Professor Fang is unique to Asper with her drive to challenge students' critical thinking and instil real life lessons. If you want to take away a lot from a course and get great value, I suggest taking this course regardless of your major.
Wish I read the reviews before taking her class. Her lectures are boring, materials are unorganized, she's not a very nice person....
Worst prof I've had so far. She rambles on during her lectures. I wish she'd take the time to listen to her students rather than pretends like she cares.
Fang doesn't teach, she just makes student's present each class, and then doesn't give feedback. Group projects are worth 50%, she put me and a classmate in an awful group and then didn't care when we told her they didn't help. Have only received grades for 12% of our work even though we finished class a month ago and the deadline was last week.
Not boring by any means and a unique prof. Feel like her cons far outweigh her pros, extremely unconventional teaching method with expensive cases, relying on students to teach the material, same day due assignments. If you like a structured class with notes and a more understanding prof that doesn't force you to adhere to their schedule, avoid!
I don't think anyone understood what the class was about.
Awful. Rambled nonsense and had students present for 80% of all class time. She gave us a take home exam that should have taken 3 hours except but it was so long we all took 10-18 hours to do it (and none of her questions made sense). Pretty sure the positive comments on here are made by her, they all have the same writing style.
Truly awful. She taught nothing and rambled. Made us use Dropbox instead of the U of M online system because she doesn’t trust the school supposedly…took forever to give back grades and when she did none of them made sense. Nice enough lady but she shouldn’t be teaching anyone.
Fang encourages students to THINK OUT OF BOX. Selected cases are recent and trending. Good materials to learn and think! She gives out good lectures that really inspire students! I guess negative comments from students who prefer old-school lectures, which you earn marks by following outlined instructions but you don't get to learn for nowadays.
Do not take this class if you have low social energy or prefer more introspective study. All the class materials and lectures were provided and led by students via group work. The only independent project was a final take home exam for which we had 24 hours to prepare, write, and submit 3,500 words. I found this class to be very low value.
Interesting, passionate, and very nice! However, this class is completely subjective which is really tough to figure out what she's looking for, especially without getting your grade back. If you like group projects and presenting then this is a great class for you! However, if you want a traditional lecture style class, I wouldn't recommend.
This teacher is love/hate. I loved it. I read the other reviews and understand why they say that. She's a great teacher. Those who say otherwise hate her style, not her ability to teach. Yes, she doesn't use textbooks but her approach to the material is soooooooo much more engaging. I'd rather discuss the concepts than burry my nose in the book.
One of the best classes I've ever taken. Her teaching style may be unorthodox, but I learned so much and looked forward to every class. Fang Wan genuinely cares about her students and truly wants the best for them, she's an incredible professor.
This class is hard work, which is probably the only reason there are bad reviews. Fang is an incredible professor that curates an amazing class, from course content to classroom vibe. Her feedback is tailored to each student, and you can tell she is passionate and caring. The skills and knowledge this class gives transfers to many aspects of life.
