Awesome man, keeps you up!
he's terrible.
awesome
If you do the readings you will do well in class. He cares a lot about students.
Talks in circles, never answers a question directly, quizzes are all essay and I don't even think he reads them. He is a very nice guy, but he tends to pick on people in class and makes people feel uncomfortable.
this course involves a lot of reading and a lot of in-class participation so you have to go to class but you definitely learn a lot and it gives you a new perspective on religion
granted that he is hard , but i learned so much from him . he keeps you up by calling on random people. so always be prepared to say something even if it is not relavent to the topic.
Very nice and very intelligent. Gives a lot of reading, but if you do it you will do fine. Essay tests, but he doesn't always seem to read them.
The reading an writing can be murder but if you keep up to date and show effort, you will do very well. He loves to help students and is VERY reasonable. All papers are quizes are fair, they are based on the readings and class discussions.
He is very unclear in explanations. Don't bother asking him a question you'll never get an answer you can understand. Presentation and several essays. All tests are in essay format.
Take this class, as long as you do the reading, make up an outline, and study it, you will have no problem. Easy A
He is very reasonable. The writing can be murder but if you do the readings and pay attetion in class, it WILL pay off!! I highly recommend this professor, especially for those who don't really have a solid background. He will answer ALL questions!!
Good teacher, VERY well-spoken and intelligent, do the readings and pay attention, you'll learn a lot! Grades difficult, but a fair man nonetheless.
Fantastic professor with great information
Very nice person, but is very demanding. TONS of reading (can be boring if material is not interesting and well written) Can be too much at times (the class gave me a headache everyday, but the class kept me thinking all the time)
emmense reading. tests: read 80 pages and thern summerize the whole thing with gret detail in about two pages- so structural guidleines.but very enthusiastic
HARD HARD HARD!!! HE's BY FAR THE TOUGHEST TEACHER IVE EVER HAD! DONT TAKE CLASS UNLESS UR PREPARED TO SPEND 3hours for every 1 hour of class, not to mention projects. I TOOK HIM, and i regret it till now, BIG MISTAKE! plus hes a really hard grader
A nice guy but at times unclear. As a matter of a fact, never clear. Impossible to get a straight answer. All tests are essays, can get by, as long as u write everything u know. Assigns way too much reading.
Dr. Munir's class, while difficult, allowed me to learn a massive amount of information, and more importantly, gain new perspective on the topic. The skills I learned there helped me get through graduate school, too.
Dr. Munir is a very nice guy who cares about his students. He can be tough at times, and expects you to work, but it can be well worth it.
Taking Munir's class was a terrible experience. He was unclear about expectations and rude when I asked his assistance. I learned little from him.
dr. munir is the man. He ruins peoples****, especially the ones that think that they can do well without putting any work in. Overall great guy, great for those of us students who want to do well.. he will see this in you
his classes were easy, all you do is talk to him about what he talked to you about in class. Tests are easy if u review notes. He grades kinda hard and doesnt explain things too well about what hes lookin for. Not too bad though
If reading 100 pages of inbetween every class and summarizing it in one double spaced page is your idea of fun..then go ahead otherwise DO NOT take this class...Way more work than any other religion class I have ever heard of..It is all busy work!
There's way too much reading to do in a short period of time. He's not always clear on what he is saying so it makes it difficult to complete assignments.
whenever I'm in class, I just kept thinking him as one of the rapper. He expects you to do ALOT of reading, alot is not even the right word to explain the reading you have to do. but if you do your work, he's your man. I had fun in his class.
This guy is as clear as water in a waste treatment plant. The WHOLE CLASS often felt confused by his statements. His assignments were inconsistant and unclear. The least prepaired prof I've ever had... but if you're unprepaired, watch out.
Dr Muir is a very nice man unfortunately his is a HORRIBLE teacher!! The amount of reading that is required is mind boggling and the tends to give you quizes on books that you had to read without him going over any of the content. If I were you I would stay clear of taking him.
Lemme just say awful class... but if you're forced into a class, its not as bad as he tries to make it seem! Class participation is huge! but you can really b.s. everything! You're asked to READ READ READ, but you dont havta--read the first page and write an outline & you still receive full credit!
Extremely intelligent man. I learned so much from him. Very nice and good natured but lacks communication skills. Students were often confused about assignments, even after asking questions to clear things up.
Extremely hard, lots of readings and participation is a must i would never recommend this teacher to nobody, (But he is a nice guy)
Very intelligent man who is compassionate about what he is doing so it makes class fun. So intelligent it seems hard for him to drop things down to our level to understand and so you easily end up confused even if you go to him for help. Overall great teacher.
Very Hard but nice man
Great guy, very hard worker. His class can be tough at times but for the most part, not too hard. He makes himself easily available to students so it is easy to discuss grades and meet with him. Works hard at making students participate in class. Great class.
He's the man. His syllabus seems like alot but it actually isnt that bad. He's a great teacher that people should take! Munir for president!
Amazing teacher who loves his job and students. Very compassionate and willing to help in any way he is able. Confusing at first but easy to catch on to as long as youre willing to try.
Great teacher, very knowledgeable, great heart, a lot of work but worth it... You learn a lot...
He is a good teacher overall. Very intelligent man. You will have to read A LOT. But if you read it is easy to do good. Also, go over your notes for a hour or so before tests, and you are garunteed to do good. Not as hard as you think things are going to be. Definitely take him.
Guy teaches 101 like you're a religion major in a 400 level class. Assigns a rediculous amount of reading and expects that you know it cold the next day. Oh and his tests are a joke. "Make up a question and answer it". Sounds like SNL celebrity jeopordy w/ Sean Connery. He's also an A- Hole too. His class is absolute H E L L
Awesome teacher. Alot of work but so worth it and really cares about his students. He's only an **** in class if he thinks you're not making an effort.. it's really an easy concept to participate.
Religious studies. We went to Africa. He wasn't really my professor. That trip was one of the most important times of my life, and he went out of his way to make it happen for me. I don't think I would have liked to have him as a normal prof.
One of the best professors i have had at siena so far. he is so knowledgable and truly cares about his students. yes, a lot of work, but not at all impossible. he makes class fun and participating easy. he has such a strong interest in what he's teaching that it's impossible not to want to listen and learn.
honestly, i did the work, i did the readings, i participated everyday. Yet he is horrible. He teaches a RELG10 class to a majority of freshman and expects a rhode scholars. He once got mad that the class didn't feel like telling him how their weekend was. HORRIBLE!. OH YEAH...IF YOU MISS LIKE ONE CLASS...HE MAKES IT HIS MISSION TO FAIL YOU
I took Dr. Munir for RELG 101. He is an excellent teacher. However, if you are not remotely interested in the topic of Religion, then you will probably dislike his class. You only get three readings, and 3 outlines plus one big project. Truthfully, not a lot of work and you learn a lot. It's worth taking if you want to learn. I love MUNIR!
Professor Munir is a GREAT teacher. Sometimes he is difficult to understand and not completely clear but if you pay attention and do the readings you will be fine. Oh, and don't forget to do the outlines! They're worth a lot. If you want to learn definitely take Munir!! 3 quizzes, no midterm, ten page paper with presentation. Not bad!
Professor teaches freshman at a graduate level. expects us to know what we are to learn before we learn it. He is insensitive. He is not lenient to someone who has been sick. If you miss more than one class he does not help you at all. At the beginning he seemed nice. But he is tough. I DO NOT SUGGEST HIM AS A TEACHER!
Genuinely nice guy, outlines are mandatory and help with quizzes and tests. Pay attention in class, take notes. Uses many catch phrases such as "I think you are on to something" and likes to think of you the student as the scholars.
He is a great guy! but not a great instructor. he tries to be a hard grader but he ends up being unjust .. i did the readings, participated and all but that did not really matter. You have to write his opinions in exams and papers not your own to get a good grade. 1 paper, 3 outlines and 4 exams including the final. I would not take him again
Religion is the worst class ever, but munir is a decent guy. You'll probably hate him in the beginning but he grows on you. Kind of arrogant but you get used to it. Doesn't really teach, you are the scholar. One ten page paper and a ten minute presentation. Tests are absolutely impossible. Nice guy, but the class is difficult.
Class participation is very important and is a helpful grade booster at the end of the semester. His tests are very difficult, but i find if you are decent at writing and studied you will be able to do relatively well. The more you add in class the better your grade will be.
He talks a lot, and expects you to write down pretty much everything he says. Keep your outlines to one page. Write down everything you know for tests and you'll be ok. His questions are not always understandable. Participate in class, be active.
one of my favorite teachers ever. real nice guy and very knowledgeable on the topic. i really enjoyed the class and didnt have to force myself to go. the class wasnt hard either. definitely take
I took him for religion 101 and he is VERY picky on participation. You must participate a LOT to get any kind of good grade. There is no textbook, but he does assign readings. There are 3 outlines, a paper and presentation. Oh and 3 tests (not including the final). He puts words in your mouth and expects all students to agree with him. DON'T TAKE!!
Unclear, all grades are subjective (don't expect good ones if you're not one of his favorites), expects WAY too much work from a 100 level religion class, lectures are unsubstantial, class is discussion based but facilitated extremely poorly
Munir is a nice guy, but is a terrible professor. He lectures and tries to engage the class, but gets easily frustrated when you don't know an answer. He is extremely unclear in his lectures and his questions and when you infer further as to what exactly he wants from you, he only manages to confuse you more. If you skip, you will be targeted
Skip it dudes. Run don't walk. So not worth it. Find different Prof. Guy is disorganized, unavailable, self interested, self promoting, pro Muslim propaganda. Arrogant. Kiss his arse n u got a shot. Don't miss class. Participate, read, don't slice ur wrists--u will feel the urge, lots work, no real help or timely followup responses. Political. Run.
He gives a fair amount of work and helps you out when needed. Three tests and a final, all easy A's. But he's an extremely tough grader when it comes to participation and the one 8 page research paper assigned. These can bring down your grade so make sure you work hard in those areas! Overall good class.
He is the WORST professor I have had in college. His class is an unorganized mess, he himself speaks so unclearly that it is hard to understand exactly what he is saying most of the time. He plays favorites so obviously it'll make you think you're back in middle school. A class with only 4 grades, all on extremly difficult assignments :/ STAY AWAY
He wasn't a good professor. He said that students aren't required to know anything going in to the class, but then he taught expecting students to already know everything. If you have no experience with any religions, I would suggest for you to not take this class. His final project was rough and given at unfair times in the semester.
Dr. Munir is a nice guy and is very passionate about religion. However, if you could take another prof do so! His tests are hard and he expects too much when the class is for people who are required to take it. One 8 page research essay & presentation. The rest of your grade is participation, attendance & tests.

he was extremely rude and closed-minded. he never gave anyone the chance to speak their own opinion, only lectured and then got angry when people would question his thoughts. term paper presentations are pointless. good luck not wanting to drop it!!!!!!
At first, I was quite nervous to take his class because of all the poor reviews on this website, but I can honestly say he will forever be one of my favorite teachers that I've had in college. He genuinely cares about the success of his students and if you do your work right, you will have no problem succeeding in his class. Best teacher by far!!!!
Very nice professor and on of my personal favorites here at Siena. People don't like him because they don't want to go to class and have discussions, which is something you must be able to do to take this class. Other than that he is very knowlegable and I was able to get an A- in the class by simply doing the work, not tough as others describe him
Dr. Munir is an extremely knowledgable man, and it is very clear that he is passionate about what he is teaching. Although his religion may be different than yours, it never feels as though he is forcing it on you. He presents many different religions and shows both their ups and downs. The only tough part about him is that he is a tough grader.
I took him for my freshman year and for the final it was an oral final for the class and he gave us all an A.
I love Dr. Munir!!! At first, I was so scared, but he is a great guy. Not a lot of grades at all and never forces his religion on you. Just pay attention in class and study for the exams and you will do fine. I managed to get an A . Participate at least once every class and he'll love you!
Nice teacher, however, decent amount of papers to be written/ talked about in depth about religion, classes are lecture heavy
Professor Munir's class is very lecture and reading base. The class can be an easy pass, but he can be quite condescending - so be patient with him. He is very passionate about his work and takes this class super seriously.
AMAZING! I have NO IDEA what any of the other bad reviews are talking about. There is literally only ONE easy argumentative paper that you have to present, a midterm, and an ORAL final. Munir is all about participation. If you participate and show genuine interest every class, you will get an A. He will be great and appreciative of you, if you do.
Munir is really nice and means well for his students. Just know his instructions are quite unclear and he wants things done in a really specific and weird way. So I won't take him again. You might not get a clear answer about what is being talked about or what he wants you to do even if you ask. Also, participate and show up or you'll struggle.
Avoid Professor Munir at all costs. One of the worst professors at Siena college. He makes his class next to impossible, from being an extremely tough grader, and making anything in the class just about impossible to get an average grade. Munir is also extremely arrogant, and rude. DO NOT TAKE.
He always marks his students absent even when theyre only 5 minutes late to his class, he asks for explanation for coming late to class even of its just 5 minutes. He always points me out in class hes just a racist
He is such a tough grader and not supportive at all professor.
Extremely unbearable regarding behaviour towards students. Such a non supportive and difficult to deal with.
Just dont think about takin up this course ya'll
If you do not know religion do not take this course. He expects you to know EVERYTHING about religion. He degrades students and points out every time a student is wrong in front of the whole entire class. He is super sweet as a person but is not caring when it comes to teaching. He will tell you when you are wrong. I missed one class and got a c.
Dr. Munir was my favorite professor this semester. He cares very much about the subject of religion, and wants you to care as well. There is no textbook, but there are a lot of readings. Sometimes his criteria and expectations can be confusing, so make use of his office hours. Pro tip- volunteer for the Islam final paper group!!!
Professor Munir can come across confusing at first, but once you understand his class and Chicago Style its a breeze. He expects everyone to answer a question about every class but he will always make you feel good about your work. Do all the assignments because they will make this class an easy pass. ASK TO PRESENT IN THE FIRST GROUP!
Prof Munir cares a lot about religion but is extremely technical. Sometimes it seems like he cares more about the quality rather than the content. Expects a lot of participation and assigns a lot of readings. I've never understood how to do Chicago style notes and never will so good luck lol. He wont remember your name, will call you out in class.
overall bad professor, not willing to work with you and has a weird way of teaching
Dr. Munir is a great guy and a great professor. He is hilarious (although sometimes I don't think he intends to be). It can be difficult to understand him at times due to some convoluted wording, but if you ask him to clarify or for help, he is caring and accommodating. Overall great professor but could be more clear in lecture and with assignments
These ratings made me scared to take this class, Dr. Munir ended up being much more caring and lenient than these made him out to be. He's understanding about grading late assignments if you're honest with him. He is very passionate about what he teaches. He's confusing at times but always willing to clarify. Not many assignments. Answers emails.
Prof. Munir is one of my favorite professors at Siena and genuinely cares about the success of his students. His assignments may be confusing, but he provides clarification if needed. He is available to meet with outside of his classes and is clearly passionate about his work. He is always a friendly face when you pass him in the halls.
This teacher almost made be drop out, his accent is too thick and his teaching style is boring and not engaging
Very confusing. Takes a long time to make his point and the point is never really clear. Nice guy, wants you to succeed, and is passionate about what he teaches, he's just bad at teaching it. Make sure your outlines are formatted the way he wants, volunteer to be in the first presentation group, & raise your hand but don't expect him to be helpful.
Honestly, he seems like a good guy, but for teaching an intro course that we are forced to take, he is not the right professor for the job. There are only 7 assignments not including attendance and participation so you better show up to class and participate, because if you don't your grade will suffer greatly. Horrible professor for an awful class
Dr. Munir starts out very confusing in the beginning but once you understand what he wants his class is very easy. A couple outlines in a specific way, not bad. One final paper and presentation on it, and a written mid term, he grades both very generously. He just want you to participate in class and you'll do fine.
He's overall a decent guy but that class gave me migraines. Not because it was hard tho. Tbh the class was actually super easy, there are very few assignments, just make sure you show up and participate. His assignments are super weird and confusing, but he provides good feedback. He's a strange guy but just get him to like you and you'll be fine.
He will get mad if he doesn't hear class participation. He is VERY loud -- he's not angry, but his voice is always raised. He's passionate. He clearly cares a lot about what he teaches, and if you pay your dues and make it to class, you'll be fine. His accent isn't that bad. Y'all are just mean.
awful, rude, didn't actually answer questions
After presenting, he will stand up and pick out every single thing you did wrong while you stand up there and ask the class "what did they do wrong". Very unclear with grading criteria. encourages you to speak up in class but then picks out whatever you say that is incorrect. It makes it very scary and intimidating to speak up in class.
Prof. Munir means well, he doesn't mean to cause any discomfort. He doesn't really give loads of homework, a few outlines due every so week, however that means there is much to earn other than participation grades. Easy class but if you're not the participating type, do NOT take the class, you will not enjoy it!!
Munir is experienced, understanding, and a bit loud, but a good professor. Show up, be ready to participate in lectures, STUDY because he will give you all the information but you must write your answers descriptively as in the lecture. Do the minimum and you will receive a B at minimum.
Very few graded assignments with unclear standards for the assignments. He did not know my name the whole semester even though I participated more than most of the students. He asks confusing questions with no real answer. It's a good class to get you thinking, but also panicking that you'll say something that's "wrong" in his eyes.
Did not enjoy this class. The professor overall was a pretty good guy, but his teaching style just wasn't for me. Despite frequently participating in class, he never really knew my name which led to a slightly uncomfortable class. He also has the habit of calling out mistakes in front of class and his grading is harsh.
Pretty fine professor if you want to take religion classes. Get ready to hear "This is the general idea" about one million times
Farred means well and is knowledgeable, however sitting in his class feels like torture. He is loud and doesnt have lecture slides so he lecutres off his mind, impressive but hard to follow. He cold calls for participation and he talks so loudly it is very overstimulating.
I could not say more amazing things about Munir. I took him for my history of Islam class, and although it was a tough class, I left class every day with more knowlege than when I came in. He requires a lot of reading and a lot of work outside of the class, but the knowledge he brings to the classroom is beyond compare.
Dr Munir is a sweet caring man who genuinely cares about your success in his class. He just wants you to try your hardest. My only critique would be that he is a slightly unclear with the citation format of his choice. TIP: CHOOSE THE ISLAM UNIT
If i could rate him a 0 i would. Myself and about 10 others dropped within the first month. DONT TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM
I loved this guy, he knew how to make a classroom full of exhausted college students willing engage in class during an 8 AM lecture. His personality is amazing, and he really does care about his students. He can be a tough grader at times, but overall gives you the grade you deserve. I would recommend taking notes, as tests are note-heavy.
