Very clear well spoken professor. He teaches very well and the workload is fair and easy. You have to turn in the homework he assigns and you take several fair exams.
I have him for Math 222 and is one of the best Math teacher I have taken in CSULB. He is very helpful and has lot's of patience....His test are fairly straight forward and assign homework to turn in when you have a exam. He get's an A
Class is very easy. Lab Activity is harder than tests and that is a good thing. Grade is based on 550 points total. No Curves on exams and grades. There is a lot of homework, more than usual. He has an accent but not thick. Very understandable. -eric
Whoever can tolerate an accent, take his class. He gives a fair amount of assignments, has a good way of teaching the material without confusion, can be funny in occasions, and will give partial credit to wrong answers. Overall he is a cool guy.
You gotta love this guy.
This guy is easy. All that you have to do is study your homework and you will get an A on the test. He's a very cool guy.
This guy is cool, I thought math teacher were going to be boring but the class is not bad. he's easy in grading and not hard to pass class. enjoyed him so much gonna take 222 with him
Great teacher, very helpful, just go to the activities and do the homework and you should do well.
This guy is really helpfull and clear. Eventhough I had him in the morning at 8AM, it still wasn't too bad. Just do your homework and pay attention. He has an accent but it's not that bad. Great math teacher.
Very good professor. He really helped me understand the material.
I suck so hard in math. However, if you go to him for help is always willing to go over the material until you know it. He has an accent but it had interferance with his teaching. If you do all the hw and get decents quiz scores you do fine. Also, he drops lowest test score and replaces it with an avg score.

very easy...tests are easy...he is very helpful to those who dont understand...
The class and teaching style is fast paced, but fine. The tests, however, are "gotcha" tests. That is, you can know the homework inside and out and perform poorly on the exam. He takes conceptual leaps on the exam and is very critical on points. Highest grade on the first exam was 89. No A's. Mostly C's and D's.
He is a great teacher...i recommend
Very good teacher. I would recommend for anyone taking 119B. His tests are a little difficult though, and he does check homework for credit so you have to stay on top of it. But overall, gerat guy.
This class was a joke. He makes tons of mistakes, and the class had to correct him. The tests were always extremely hard, and becuase of his mistakes in class, you have a hard time following. I ended up having to drop. I think that was right around the time the other half of the class dropped too.
Awesome teacher. always made jokes to keep students interested. Made sure students understood the material at the activity sections.
really nice and understanding. he really tries to help you and breaks things down step by step. he has an accent but he was absolutely comprehendable. do your work and you'll get an easy A
He has an accent. dont worry, its not a big deal. you can still understand what he is talking about. hes really cool and make the class fun and interesting. he cares for the student and if you need any thing, he'll help you out. be there and study, you'll get an A. -NomburOne- =I
He's reallly funny and foriegn
He is funny and very cool. He knows his topic, is lenient, and gives extra credit. He will give you many examples of a topic if you don't understand. He will often push tests forward if he feels his students will need more time. On grading, he is a bit strict. He grades assignments, but as long as you try hard, there should be no problem.
kinda funni3
I don't understand how the hell any of these people can say they liked him. I absolutely dreaded attending his class. He made numerous mistakes and confused everyone in my class. I am under the impression we all disliked him equally and the people who didn't drop, failed, and the people who didn't fail didn't like him anyway. I don't recommend him.
he don't make sence and recommend to drop him
He was a great teacher! He really cares about his students and wants them to pass his class. I recommend him highly for MAPB 7, he does everything he can to make you pass.
He was confusing. Tutoring pretty much helped me through the whole entire semester. If you want to take him, take him, if you dont, then don't
Awsum teacher! really cares about his students and wants them to pass. I took him for two semesters and he never let me down and I passed both times. Always there if you need it and will answer every question you have. Just show up, do the homework and have average test scores. Also drops two lowest quiz scores and gives 20 points for attendance.
he was awsome
He is a wonderful lecturer that helps the student to understand the important concepts that are need to master Intermediate Algebra. Also, he tries to be funny but it just makes him look a bit silly. He carries an accent with him so try to keep an open ear to understand his English.
He is a good professor. I had read some bad thing about him but it's not true. Just do the homework, take notes, and you should be fine. He gives 4 tests plus a final but he gives tests reviews for them.
I sacrificed having a Friday class in order to have him as a teacher again. He is very helpful and explains everything in the book. He is very positive, friendly, and helpful! I took him for Calc I and II and I would highly recommend him!
This teacher is pretty cool. The class overall is easy as long as you do all the hw and study for the tests and quizzes. He likes to make jokes, although sometimes they dont make sense. He is very helpful and is always trying to help his students. If you are having trouble with math, take him. He made math more interesting
He's really nice. His accent is is a little strong but you can still understand him. I had trouble only because i was lazy but its fairly easy i still passed. Class is mandatory otherwise he takes off points towards the end for every two days you are gone. just do the work and you'll pass
This class is extremely boring. He doesn't assign hw but wants you to do it. I passed the class with an A without doing a single hw problem so its not hard. He does have an accent but you can still understand him and attendance is not mandatory. About 5 quizzes, 3exams, and a final. study the studyguide and you will pass without much effort.
I had him for my business calculus activity he was really nice and helpful.
Do NOT take Faridpak!!!! He doesnt assign homework but if you do it it wont help anyways. His tests are MUCH more difficult than the homework and study guides, although useful, are still nothing compared to the exams. If you've already had calculus in previous courses you will probably be fine.
if there are other options for professors TAKE THEM!
He may be good for lower Math classes but once you get to 113 or anything higher, his teaching style changes. He expects way more out of you and his tests become hard, if you're going to need Math for your major or career then take him because he makes sure you know your stuff. If this will be the last time you use Math then find someone else easy.
dropped the class.. not a good teacher.. talks in a monotone voice.. boring.. lectures by just copying everything straight from the book.. has an accent hard to understand.. do not take him if you do not want to fail
Faridpak is pretty straight forward. In his class, there will be a lot of notes so attendance is important if you want to pass. The homeworks and quizzes were a piece of cake. He always asks if you have any questions, perfect time for math questions you found difficult. He is an awesome man I would not mind taking him again for future math classes.
He was extremely tough
He is very clear in his instruction during class, as long as you pay attention. He is always available to answer any question during his office hours, which helped me a lot. Keep in mind, the quizes and tests he assigns are straight from the homework, so be sure to cover every question when homework is assigned to you!
He doesn't exactly have the best teaching skills. You really have to listen and pay attention in class, however he does a pretty decent job. He does have an accent, but you can still understand him.
Funny and a great teacher. He does have an accent, but it's not like you can't understand him. When asked a question, he tries to clarify it as well as he can. Copy everything he write on the board! It's very helpful when it comes time for quizzes and exams!
Best math professor. Very clear. Helpful. Do hw and activities. Attendance is critical. He also teaches part time at LAHC.
Quiz every week unless there's an exam. 3 lowest quizzes dropped. If your final is higher than your lowest exam, the lowest exam will get the final's grade. hw is due on exam day. good professor, very thorough in his lectures.
Faridpak is a smart man, but sadly, he is just not meant to teach. He expects you to understand everything as clearly as he does, and he moves at his own pace. Whenever you ask him a question, his response is almost always irrelevant. I always had to learn independently in order to pass this class with a B. I do not recommend him.
Have fun in this class, I am not going to praise this teacher as if he is the best ever but he knows what he is doing, and is relatively funny. Here is the key to passing this class; Go to class, his accent is funny so you won't be bored, write down the notes,PAYING ATTENTION OPTIONAL, study the book. 3tests,6quizzes,1final. I would recommend.
His class could be an easy A. Listen to his lecture, do homework and test reviews. Tests will be pretty easy if you can handle not taking notes and he replaces lowest test grade with your final test grade (assuming you did better). Kinda boring but funny at times :)
Faridpak is the best math teacher I have had in college by far. He has a slight accent, which just makes class more enjoyable with some of his silly pronunciations. He clarifies the material well, and is extremely kind and helpful. He truly cares about his students. I would Highly recommend taking him.
LOVED HIM! I had covered a lot of the topics in my AP calc class prior to taking this, so it was super easy for me, but I think for others it is definitely doable. Do the homework before the quizzes and you should be fine (he doesn't collect homework until the tests though so it's easy to not do it until later) He's caring, passionate, & hilarious.
He is just awesome. He is always willing to answer questions $ available in his office hours. He drops lowest quizzes $ replaces lowest exam by the final exam. For math 111, he gives revision questions before exams. He has an accent but not hard to understand him.He gives lots of examples $ goes over everything. If you try you will get A. I loved him
Horrible professor. The tests are nothing like the book. He teaches and 3 different schools and leaves right after class to the next school. He hardly has office hours and never explains anything thoroughly. He makes so many mistakes throughout his lecture and his tests are much more complicated versions of his examples. I would not recommend him.
Professor Faridpak is an amazing professor, well at least I thought. He tends to lecture really fast but I learn better at fast pace. If you suck at math, don't take him his tests will kill you. If you've already taken Pre-cal or Calculus in high school take him it'll be a piece of cake. He's a really cool guy and class isnt mandatory!
Professor Faridpak is a professor you definitely want for this class. He makes the topics look easy and the homework doesn't take a lot of time away. Drops lowest grade out of the three tests with the final exam grade. Overall, someone you definitely should take.
He has an accent which makes listening to him pretty hard. Final can replace your lowest Exam grade. He lectures from the book, but exam reviews and the book do not help on the exams. Hard teacher overall. I would study 10-18 hours over a weekend just to get a C on his exam. Don't take him if you can't teach yourself in your free time.
Its one of those classes thats easy to get a B but its a lot of work to get an A. He teaches more conceptually while the problems on the test are a higher difficulty. Just study, concepts and work your way up to more difficult problems, go to office hours, ohh and the biggest mistake I made which is why I'm getting a B, dont underestimate trig
This is a very difficult class, do not take it lightly. This is coming from a guy who took Calc in high school! I underestimated this class because I thought it would all be review, but be sure to stay atop your game! He expects a lot, his tests are hard and you just got to pay attention at every lecture! Good teacher, but tough class...
Farid is a really chill guy but his expectations are quite high. He goes over quite a lot of content in just ONE lecture. I highly recommend to NOT skip his lectures. He also takes attendance from time to time by assigning a problem based on the concepts of the lecture he just taught (and yes, these do affect your grade).
Faridpak is a great professor. The course material is very difficult, and he teaches it in a way that is easy to understand. His lectures are enjoyable, despite going a little faster pace. I definately recommend taking his class.
Needs hardwork to get an A coz math 111 is hard. His exams are hard but you can get A's. For me, I got A's in all of his 3 exams and the final. Goona take Calculus II with him :)
Good teacher. Goes a bit fast but answers questions. Handsome
I am currently taking his class and he is an excellent professor. I'm a student that usually gets good grades anyways, but not exactly the most studious either. For me, he makes calculus fairly easy. He's easy to approach and the lectures are very clear. Take him!
Faridpak is a helluva guy. The course material was a challenge, but he'll do anything within his power to help you understand. He teaches at a pace where it is possible for a review sesh before every exam. During activity/class he will answer any problems from the homework you ask. His office hours are sparse, but overall, Faridpak is a good choice
Solid teacher, the material is tough and there is not much you can do about that. I was surprised about the grade i got, a few other classmates felt the same way. Solid teacher just be aware of that final grade...
Tests are actually quite easy compared to other teachers, but with that being said, they're not curved whatsoever. He's incredibly knit picky when it comes to grading the exams, so recheck your answers multiple times. His office hours are too early to compensate for help and most of the time he's not even there. Lectures are quite solid though.
Faridpak is extremely helpful in his lectures. He tends to rephrase a lot of what he is saying to make it simpler to understand. His tests are EASY as long as you do the assigned homework. I have managed to skip a couple of classes here and there and get a decent grade, but that's because I did the homework. When I ask questions, he answers clearly
He is one of the best Math professor, teaches very well and wants everyone to learn, therefore his exams are not easy. They are some what challenging, you can get an A only if you start string from the begining
He's the worst teacher I've ever had. He gives study guides for the exams but they were of no help. The quizzes are similar to the homework, but the tests weren't like either. He goes too fast and doesn't explain the concepts clearly. When a question is asked, he goes around it. Do your GPA a favor and don't take him. I had to withdraw
He's a really good professor, but Calc II isn't an easy class. So if you want to do well you need to put in some effort. His tests aren't too bad but the final is killer. The way he curves is he takes the average of your two highest exams and replaces your lowest (there are 3 exams not including the final and this doesn't apply to the final).
Really crappy professor for Math 111. He is very lazy when it comes to answering questions. Final Exam Review copied and pasted from somewhere else. No original examples, all from book. Overall just a really bad professor for this course.
Professor Farid is a great professor. It wasn't until I took another math teacher that made me really appreciate his teaching methods. He's friendly, smart and helpful. He has no problem doing problems over and over until you get it. Every chapter, there is a test (Math 123B) and homework. I am planning to take STATS with him this fall.
He's the best math teacher I've ever had. If you can't understand the material, he'll help you. The exams and quizzes are fairly easy and he won't give you tough questions on them. The only thing is he assigns way too much homework but most of it does help.
I did not like him at all. He would always tell our class how stupid we were and how nobody had an A because he DOES NOT curve. There are better teachers. He's a guaranteed C . Awful attitude. Take it with someone else. He also gets a sick thrill/laugh when he sees how many people he can make drop the class.
Faridpak taught Math370a fine and the subject isn't hard. He gives a decent amount of homework and weekly quizzes that are just like the homework. The exams are similar to the homework too. I would not take his class again because he is a TOUGH GRADER. If you do not do the problem correctly, there is no partial credit! Basically all or nothing!
He assigns homework, but it all helps because his homework is like his quizzes is like his tests. He's an interesting guy and I genuinely enjoyed his class. He does grade a bit hard, but the subject is pretty easy, so with a decent amount of studying you should be able to get an A. Pretty much the only thing you use the textbook for is homework.
He's a fair professor teaching a difficult course. All homework assignments are outlined at the beginning of the year and while he is a somewhat strict grader, you can contest any points that you lost. Quizzes are plenty but they are not extremely difficult provided you do the homework for the section beforehand.
My experiences with this professor have been a roller coaster - a lot of it dealing with the fact that we were both having to deal with personal stress. But in the end, he taught the course very effectively and recognized my efforts to learn and improve with the math. Overall very good teacher
Extremely tough grader but the material is easy. The class consists of weekly quizzes, 3 midterms and 1 final. He can be rude to students. HW is turned in once a month before a test. The tests are heavily based off of the HW. Do the HW and you will at least get a B in the class. The class is easy to pass...
Professor Faridpak was an okay teacher, kind of quiet and lots of lectures. He rushed through many sections and even handed out notes to a section he had no time to teach. He rarely gave me partial credit. The material isnt the most difficult, but he taught it in a way that makes it confusing and hes not the best at answering student questions.
The material is not hard to understand, it is pretty easy. He is horrible at explaining and is very confusing. He flies through lessons and expects everyone to get it off of one lecture. He is the worst at answering questions. Someone needed help and he said "too bad." Study the book and you'll understand the material way better than he teaches it.
Expect to work right away on the first day of class. Online HW due every Sunday, 2-4 WebAssign assignments with 30+ questions. Teaches of the book and his accent sometimes makes it hard to understand. He has no office hours and doesn't email you back. Exams and quizzes can be hard. There are professors more helpful than him please don't take.
some much homework with the web assign, he didn't really care as for the students I feel my first test I did decent on but after that the material gets difficult. Even if you ask for a cleared understanding he will kind of brush off the question and keep going. Study a lot I say get ready for 3-4 topics per class
Very meticulous, yet VERY forgiving math prof. Attending his lectures are vital to passing; he immensely simplifies everything from the book. 1st exam is easy, but they get difficult. Don't even worry about the hw. Dropped 3 lowest quizzes, avg 3 exams and replaces it with lowest exam grade. Should've gotten a low C but got a high B in the end.
He is a super nice guy and is super clear in his lectures. His exams and assignments are very straightforward and are based on everything he teaches.
I'm currently taking this professor for MATH 370A and he is absolutely amazing. His lectures are very clear and he makes difficult proofs and lessons super simple/easy to understand. His tests are very fair and easy as they are based off of the homework questions.
Chose him based on decent reviews but am now regretting it. Math has never been too hard for me, but he doesn't teach the material that well. He moves fast and notes are all over the place. His exams can be difficult so make sure u do the hw. Tough grader, he'll knock points wherever he can. If you can, choose a diff prof otherwise good luck
Chose this professor because of the reviews, regret it. One of the hardest graders I met in my life, will knock points of for the smallest things. Grade is made up of 3 tests worth 22% each, one final worth 22%, HW makes up 4% and quizzes make up 8%. If you suck at tests don't take this professor.
If you don't like classes that are heavy with lectures, do not take this class! He comes in, teaches the lesson once on his board, and expects everyone to understand what he's talking about. Whenever someone asks him to explain, he'll say there's no time or dw about it. He gives 3-4 homework assignments every week with 30+ questions each.
If you don't like heavy lecture classes, do not take this class! He comes in and teaches for the whole time every class, also teaches multiple lessons per day and expects everyone to understand after that lecture. He's not very engaging with students. Whenever some1 asks him something, he'll say dw about it or we're out of time. Grade harsh too.
I would never take him again, and im about to drop this class to be honest. He does not care that much about his students. Very heavy lecture, 3 or 4 sections in just 1 period. Thay nhu cl dung co hoc.
This professor has single-handedly made me consider dropping my major. Cool personality but I'm not coming to class for the professors vibrancy. He grades exam review out of 2 points, so if you miss a question that is a 1 out of 2 and your grade may have now dropped a letter. I have visibly watched my hair turn grey walking to his class.
He is a tuff grader, lectures can be easy going but as well can be heavy, be ready for exams and hour long lectures, he's always available for his office hours, stay on top of the cases if not, you're going to struggle, he is a okay teacher.
This professor is very good lecturer but also expects alot of his students. alot of hw and mandatory study guide but is needed to succeed on the tests. If you do both hw and study guide and learn it well you will pass. The tests are layed out very well with no curve balls but it will show if u truely understood the hw. Lowest test replaced by final
Took him for math 111 (precalc trigonometry) and absolutely despised this class. He walks into class, pops open the textbook, and lectures for an hour and 15 mins straight with little to no engagement with students. Expects all students to know what the hell he just taught and then dips once lecture ends. Tests are HARD. LOTS of webassign homework
not terrible, just make sure to do the extra credit at the end because it is exactly like the final.
Great professor for MATH370A his exams and zero curve balls and made it so easy to get an A if you just studied his exam reviews. He makes it very linear for you to get a good grade in the class and wants his students to do good. He is a tough grader and will mark you on the small things to be prepared.
Note that this class is extremely difficult. Professor is a tough grader as well but if you put in the work it is passable. This class is harder than any calculus class so be prepared and try and have a flexible schedule. I admire his enthusiasm to teach and he is kind; I believe he even rounded our final. Good guy.
The dude is funny. He is also very knowledgeable and it shows. He just expects so much out of students. The exams are so difficult and often times I find myself just writing without understanding a thing during the lectures. Honestly, I think he is a good professor, just a hard transition from the high school style of teaching (I'm a freshman).
Great professor that made lectures interesting and applicable. Definitely do the homework to practice for the exams.
Professor can be tough, but using Unstuck study alongside the textbook helped me prepare for the exams. Lectures are dense, but attending office hours makes a big difference. Overall, the class is manageable with consistent effort.
He is a great professor, his lectures are amazing and I got to learn a lot. He is very generous with the grading, his homework will be helpful to do if you wanna do good in the class. He gives out exam review homework that if you do good in you have a strong chance at passing with a high grade. Again amazing I would take him again if I could.
A difficult class so study hard for exams. The professor is kind, funny, and teaches very well so show up. The lecture notes will help on hw and the hw review will help on exams. He does grade a little harsh on exams. Try to get good grades on exams 1-3 before the final since it goes over a lot of material.
Professor Faridpak is a very good math professor. He structures the class the best compared to others teaching the class. Additionally, he reviews older skills from earlier math classes, which is very helpful when applying them in this class. The exam weight structure is exam heavy, however the homework and exam reviews prepare you well
Later in the semester, you can see when he's writing on the board he is forcing himself to write faster than he ever has. When you ask him a question, he answers something completely different then moves on. He ended lecture early one time because he got mad that people were talking (we were discussing something he went over that made no sense).
My first day in this class seemed promising as the professor was pretty nice. However I quickly realized that I strongly disliked how this class was structured, it was lecture, lecture, lecture, exam. The lectures weren't that easy to understand and I quickly got lost three weeks in. As soon as I was lost there was no coming back, had to withdrawal
Okay trig is already confusing but he kinda doesn't make it easier. I emailed him once asking what i should do cause my grade was low and there was a teat and he said “i'm not going to give you an extension and Im not sure that would help you anyways” so wow. he just lectures and gives tests, not crazy amount of homework like 1-3 web assigns a week
The class was very fast paced which is why I believe he rushed through some lessons and I got lost multiple times and it was really hard to catch up. However he seems caring about students and seems excited to help if you ask. If you don't get the homework and exam reviews you won't do well on the tests.
