Do all of her practice problems in class over and over and take really neat notes and review everything she goes over in lecture because then you will test better than trying to memorize definitions and go from the book. Book is helpful to find problems that mirror what she is reviewing

Great teacher. My standard for a great teacher is if I understand the textbook better and faster with her help. In my experience, all subjects are more or less the same--read the book and do your homework--and only rarely will you have a teacher who gives an unreasonable amount of work. Most people seem to rely only on the teacher and never read.

I believe Firtha was a good professor. A lot of students had trouble realizing you have to put in a lot of effort to pass. I studied 30 hours a week for this course. And retaught myself the material at home. If your not willing to study or put in effort this class and professor is not for you. Most difficult class Ive ever taken.

Her lectures is off on an ipad/tablet and she writes down notes in such small areas. Notes are all over the place, different subjects come by quick, she is not clear with what chapter or lesson it is. Her teaching skills are not step by step, it is more of examples of the lesson and we are expected to know it already.

If you're nervous about chemistry, or if you're planning on getting into the upper divisions of chemistry, I would highly recommend Dr. Firtha. She is by far the most genuine professor, if not the most genuine person that I've met. She'll answer any questions that you have, and is very easy to talk to. She also posts notes of lecture which helps.
